Dubai Enforces New Entry Requirements for Visit Visa Holders

D ubai authorities have introduced stringent entry requirements for visitors on visit visas . Travelers must now carry AED 3,000 in cash or credit, a valid return ticket, and proof of accommodation. This new rule is designed to ensure that visitors have sufficient funds and a clear plan for their stay in Dubai .

Read More: Countries To Visit Visa Free If You Are A UAE Resident

Financial Proof Required

To meet the new requirements, visitors need to present proof of having AED 3,000, which can be in cash or on a credit card. This measure is aimed at confirming that travelers have enough money to support themselves during their visit, thereby reducing the risk of overstays and ensuring they can cover their expenses while in Dubai.

Proof of Accommodation

In addition to financial proof, travelers must also provide an address where they will be staying. This could be the home of a relative or friend, or a hotel booking. This requirement helps authorities manage the influx of tourists and reduces the risk of illegal stays in the UAE.

Pre - Boarding Checks

These entry checks are now part of the pre-boarding process at various airports. Authorities are vigilant in verifying all required documents and proof before allowing travelers to board flights to Dubai. These measures are enforced not only in the UAE but also at airports in India and other countries to prevent non-compliant passengers from traveling.

Impact on Tourism

Officials believe that these stringent checks will positively impact Dubai's tourism sector . By ensuring visitors have enough funds and a confirmed place to stay, authorities aim to create a more transparent and secure travel experience. This proactive approach is expected to enhance the overall travel experience and maintain Dubai's reputation as a safe and welcoming destination.

The official letter has to be attached with your other visa documents. If the authorities can verify your relatives as residents, then you will have no problem getting your visa. There’s one more condition though, the relative residing there should be an immediate relative. You cannot get invitations from distant relatives.

Honeymooners/Newlyweds

In the case of a couple being newlywed, the wife may still have a maiden name on her passport, which could pose an issue. In this case, they can submit their marriage license, NOCs from both sides of the parents, their marriage invitation card, a picture from their marriage, and all the other mandatory documents needed for the visa. This will ensure they get their visa and have a great honeymoon in their dream destination, Dubai.

Sound Finance

One of the most important Dubai tourist visa requirements is being financially sound. You need to submit a few forms, and your income tax returns for the last 2 years. You also need to have a surplus amount of money in your bank according to the requirements set by UAE for your country. If you have investments of high value in Fixed Deposits, they are also quite useful in getting visa for Dubai

Documents Required for Dubai Visa

  • ·          Visa application form correctly filled out, without any unnecessary corrections, or mistakes, along with two colour photographs.
  • ·          Two coloured photographs with your face fully visible, including your ears. This photograph needs to be taken against a white backdrop. Also, you should not be smiling in this photograph.
  • ·          Photocopies of passport with original passport for verification. The photocopies should be of the front two and back two pages of the passport. And the passport should be valid up to six months from the date of your travel. This is a strict requirement.
  • ·          Photocopies of your going and return tickets to and from Dubai. This is a way they verify that you are actually going to return on a particular date.
  • ·          If you are going on a holiday through a touring company, you can also furnish a copy of your itinerary. This also tilts the balance in your favour if you are looking to get a visa.
  • ·          And if you are invited by family, you have to submit the letter of invitation along with the details of your relative, so the government can verify and process the visa.
  • ·          Age limit for Dubai visa for females and students travelling alone is 18. They need to have a No Objection Certificate from parents or husband.
  • ·          People who have travelled to European countries, Schengen countries, U.S.A., and U.K. also are more likely to get a hassle-free visa for Dubai. So, if you have been to these countries, you will get a visa

Dubai is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Each year, the city sees tourists in the number of millions, and this number keeps getting higher steadily, especially during the Dubai Shopping Festival. Therefore, if you meet the above requirements, strictly follow their rules and regulation, you are guaranteed to get a visa and have a great time. Also, if you are looking to get a business visa, the above mentioned data will be useful. However, if you want a guiding hand through the process, you can hire the services of professional visa companies that actually help people get visas to Dubai. They are great way to get an assured visa.

I was just browsing Qatar Airway's website and read this 'The minimum age requirement for passengers (male/ female) travelling alone to UAE is 25 years .'

I'm 24 from the UK and my wife will be late 20's and is from Pakistan. We're married already and have a marriage certificate but we will be celebrating our honeymoon in April (30 day tourist visa) so what exactly does this age limit mean? I have a British passport so i think i would be fine but will her visa get rejected when we apply for it in a week as we're both under 25? I have no idea what documents would be need to sent for her visa as i'm okay visawise but we need to apply for her in?

Also would this cause any problems in hotels as we're both such a young married couple! I've checked online and on tripadvisor also but with different answers so i'm confused, thanks!

Does this help? Scroll down for age restrictions.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_policy_of_the_United_Arab_Emirates

the minimum age requirement to apply for a visa is 21 for men and 23 for women.

So looks like we can’t go? & i’ve wasted the hotel money. So stressed right now

If you both have UK passport, you do not need visa. You will get visa on arrival for 30 days.

I do not see any issue as you are 25 and she is your wife. Just keep your marriage certificate with you in case you have to proof that you are married.

This was about 2 years ago - not sure if rules have changed since.

As far as I am aware there is no upper age limit for a visa

@: #4 and 5, the OP mentions that his wife has a Pakistani passport, not UK.

@OP, it might help to send the marriage certificate with your wife's visa application along with a copy of your passport. Because of concerns about human trafficking, the applications of young women from some countries are subject to more scrutiny.

If your loved ones are planning a trip to the UAE, here's a reminder: Tourists can apply for a family group visit visa, which is free of cost for children.

Under the scheme, children under the age of 18 can be granted a visa for free while usual charges apply to their parents.

“The application for this visa should be submitted along with either father’s or mother’s application,” said Subair Thekepurathvalappil, senior manager for inbound and outbound operations at Regal Tours Worldwide.

Stay up to date with the latest news. Follow KT on WhatsApp Channels.

Industry experts said several visitors had been opting for this entry permit.

“A family group visit visa is more convenient and cost-effective for families, given that there is no visa fee for children under the age of 18,” Subair said, adding that there are no restrictions on the number of children who can apply for the permit.

The free visa is also applicable even to children who are travelling with just one parent, he explained. It is available for a 30- or 60-day stay, which can be extended within the country.

With the festive season just around the corner, several family group visit visas are being issued every day — particularly to Indians who wish to celebrate Diwali in Dubai, said Firoz Maliyakkal, founder and CEO of Tahira Tours and Travels.

This visa, however, is not new. It was introduced two years ago and has since been a popular option for visitors from around the world.

How to apply

  • A family will have to submit copies of their passports and photos — all at once — to a travel agency.
  • Fees are paid. Note that though the visa is free for children, travel agent service charges and insurance fees will apply.
  • The agency then processes the application.
  • The visa is usually issued in a day or two.
  • Visa fee for parents, along with the service charge for children, may vary depending on the travel agency.
  • A 30-day visa for a parent ranges from Dh350 to Dh500.
  • Service charge and insurance for a child range between Dh80 and Dh120.
  • A 60-day visa will cost Dh500 to Dh650, while the service charge, including insurance, may vary from Dh130 to Dh170.

Requirements

  • Passport copy
  • Passport-sized photograph

Extension policy

Experts say the family visa can be extended without exiting the country, “however, a full visa fee has to be paid for children. The extension within the country is not free for children", said Subair.

“Visitors can extend the family visa for up to 120 days without exiting the country,” he added.

UAE's visiting visa rules: What has changed, what should travellers keep with them

 alt=

Dubai: The latest guidelines regarding the UAE visiting visa have become a matter of concern for many who were planning a trip to the country. Affi Ahammad, MD of Smart Travels said that the passengers should keep all the documents ready at hand to be produced at the airport, to ensure hassle-free travel. The guidelines state that the passengers arriving in the country on a visiting visa should carry: 1) A valid return ticket 2) Address of friends or relatives with whom they plan to stay. It's better if they travel from India with the relative with whom they are going to stay 3) Passport with a validity of six months 4) Copy of their Emirates ID 5) 5000 dirhams in account or equivalent amount as currency

Meanwhile, the guideline that one should carry a bank statement for the last six months isn’t strict. Also, if not 5000 dirhams, they should have at least 3000 dirhams with them or possess a credit card with the stipulated limit. Rules relaxed in 2020, but... The above rules existed earlier too, but they were relaxed in September 2020. The directives were repealed when the travel agencies expressed concern that it would disappoint job aspirants who wish to come to the UAE and that it would adversely affect the businesses. However, now, many are troubled that the government has made it stricter again. Many passengers, including Malayalis, who failed to fulfil these guidelines or produce necessary travel documents were detained at the Indian airports and were not allowed to board the planes.

Some others who managed to land in Dubai were reportedly detained by the immigration authorities there. The government’s move to make the visit visa guidelines stricter has quashed the dreams of many youngsters who were eager to find a good job in the UAE. People who belong to families that aren’t financially sound have struggled to arrange the money for purchasing visas and air tickets. Now, they can't arrange Rs 68,000 more so that they could adhere to the directives. In the beginning, the passengers were reportedly detained at the Dubai airport. However, now, checking has been made stricter at the Indian airports too. It was reported that a few passengers who hail from the Idukki district in Kerala were detained like this and sent back to India. But, the Dubai immigration authorities haven’t issued any official statement regarding this.

No new vacancies, boost for tourism The number of job seekers who arrive on visiting visas has gone up significantly, especially after the COVID-19 outbreak. Since the vacant posts were filled as soon as the pandemic subsided and the financial sector was recovering slowing, new vacancies weren’t created. Currently, hundreds of job aspirants are in UAE, trying hard to land a job. Among them, most Keralites are highly educated and experienced too. Inspections are conducted regularly at the airports in Dubai to ensure the safety of the passengers. Lots of cases have been reported for overstaying. Experts in the travel and tourism industry observe that the latest actions by the authorities would only boost the tourism sector in the Emirates. They say that strict inspection would make the immigration procedures transparent and would save the passengers from difficulties caused by miscommunication.

Most didn't have address proof The passengers who were detained at the airport in Dubai were the first batch of flyers who faced a crisis as they couldn’t produce proper travel documents. Even though most people could prove that they had the stipulated amount at hand, they failed to provide the address proof of relatives or other accommodation details. When some of them said that they were residing with their relatives, the officials inquired about their address and Emirates ID. But, the passengers had to return as they couldn’t produce these details. Meanwhile, some others had to wait at the airport for hours before returning. These people had to suffer such hardships at the airport as they weren’t informed about the guidelines by the travel agents. However, the travel agents say that they too had no idea as these weren’t stricter earlier.

UAE Visit Visa Alert: New Rules and Airport Checks Every Indian Traveler Must Know

UAE Visa

Planning a trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on a tourist visa? Be prepared for enhanced scrutiny at airports as the UAE immigration department steps up measures to prevent misuse of visit visas by job seekers. Here’s what Indian travelers need to know about the new regulations and how to ensure a smooth entry into the UAE.

Table of Contents

Heightened Checks for Job Seekers

Recently, numerous passengers from Kerala were detained at Kochi and Kozhikode airports for not having the required travel documents. This move follows a noticeable trend where travelers enter the UAE on visit visas for job hunting. To combat this, airlines now must verify that passengers have:

  • Hotel Bookings : Proof of confirmed accommodation for the entire stay.
  • Financial Resources : Evidence of funds to support their visit. This includes having at least 3,000 dirhams (about US$817) for a one-month stay and 5,000 dirhams (about US$1,362) for longer visits. Credit cards meeting these limits are also accepted.

New Regulations for Tourists Visiting Dubai

To align with the new guidelines, travelers should be well-prepared with the following:

Purpose and Accommodation Verification

Immigration officials will ask visitors about the reason for their visit, where they will stay, and how they plan to cover their expenses. Inadequate or unclear responses may lead to denial of entry.

Strict Prohibition on Employment

Working while on a tourist visa in the UAE is illegal. Agencies offering jobs to tourists or visiting visa holders will face severe legal consequences. This regulation ensures tourists remain within the bounds of their visa conditions.

Employment Visas Only for Workers

For those entering on an employment visa, it is essential to complete all entry permit procedures before starting work. This ensures all workers are legally authorized to be in the UAE.

Evidence of Tourist Activities

Tourists must show detailed proof of their travel plans, including hotel reservations, return tickets, and sufficient funds to support their stay. This confirms the visit is purely for tourism purposes.

Visiting Friends or Relatives

If visiting family or friends, tourists must provide copies of their host’s visa and passport, along with the host’s address, phone number, and accommodation details. This helps verify the legitimacy of the visit.

8 Days Dubai & Abu Dhabi Tour Package

Essential Documentation

To avoid any travel disruptions, ensure you have the following:

  • Return flight ticket
  • Hotel booking confirmation
  • Proof of sufficient funds
  • Contact details for any relatives or friends you plan to visit

Ensuring a Smooth Entry into the UAE

Familiarize yourself with these regulations to ensure hassle-free entry into the UAE. Here’s a detailed guide on preparing for your visit:

1. Confirm Accommodation Arrangements

Before traveling, secure your hotel booking and keep the confirmation accessible. Immigration officers will need to see proof of your stay arrangements.

2. Verify Financial Means

Ensure you have enough funds to cover your expenses. This can be in cash, traveler’s cheques, or a credit card with a sufficient limit. A minimum of 3,000 dirhams for a one-month stay and 5,000 dirhams for longer visits is required.

3. Prepare for Immigration Queries

Be ready to answer questions about your visit’s purpose, accommodation, and financial means. Clear and concise answers will facilitate a smoother entry process.

4. Avoid Employment Offers

Refrain from accepting job offers while on a tourist visa, as it is illegal. Do not trust agencies that claim they can arrange employment for you on a tourist visa.

5. Complete Employment Visa Requirements

If you intend to work in the UAE, ensure all employment visa documentation is complete before your trip. Entering on a tourist visa with the intent to switch to an employment visa can cause complications.

6. Focus on Tourist Activities

Enjoy your visit by exploring the UAE’s attractions. Ensure you have all the necessary documents like your return ticket and hotel booking confirmation to support your tourist activities.

7. Visiting Family or Friends

If visiting relatives or friends, ensure you have their visa copies, passport details, and contact information. This will help confirm the legitimacy of your visit.

8. Keep Documents Ready

Having all your documents organized will help expedite the entry process. This includes your return flight ticket, proof of accommodation, and financial resources.

By adhering to these guidelines and having all the necessary documentation, you can confidently plan your UAE visit. Staying informed about these new regulations will help you avoid any potential issues and ensure a hassle-free travel experience.

What is the UAE's blue visa and who can apply?

The UAE has announced a new long-term residency visa. Known as the blue visa , it will grant a 10-year residency to people who have made “exceptional contributions” towards protecting the nation's environment.

Announced after a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday led by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid , Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the decision aligns with the country’s long-term goals of making the UAE more sustainable.

The new visa is the latest to be introduced in the UAE, following in the footsteps of the golden visa , which also offers a 10-year residency. A number of other initiatives, such as the green and remote working visas, have also been issued in recent years.

One of the country's leading recruiters said the visas offering long-term stays in the UAE had been a big success so far.

"The biggest benefit [of a ten-year visa] is that it has made it possible to live here without needing to be under the sponsorship of a company," said David Mackenzie, group managing director of recruitment agency Mackenzie Jones. "It gives you so much freedom."

The newly introduced visa will also go some way to not only attracting talent but also enticing those currently living in the UAE to extend their stay, said a leading sustainability expert.

"It will help retain talent because not everyone stays here for 10 years because they are tied to the standard visa, sponsored by their employers, which lasts for two years," said Ivano Iannelli, senior adviser for sustainability at Emirates Global Aluminium.

"Of course it will attract new talent but it will also offer an element of security to those who are already here. It shows the ambition of the UAE."

The National takes a look at who can apply for one.

Who can apply for a blue visa?

"The visa will be granted to individuals who have made significant contributions to environmental protection and sustainability, offering them a ten-year residency in the UAE, and is part of the UAE’s Year of Sustainability," read a statement shared by state news agency Wam.

The visa will be available to individuals who have made exceptional contributions and efforts in the field of protecting the environment, whether marine or land.

Work towards improving air quality and sustainable technology will also be rewarded, the authorities said.

Ivano Iannelli, senior sustainability adviser at Emirates Global Aluminium, says the new visa will help retain talent in the UAE, as well as attract it. Chris Whiteoak / The National

How can you apply?

"Sustainability advocates and experts who are interested in the UAE Blue Residency are invited to submit their applications directly through the services of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security, or through nominations by competent authorities in the state for the individuals recommended for it," read a statement on Sheikh Mohammed's website.

Why is it important?

The announcement of a blue visa for contributions to protecting the environment is groundbreaking, said Dr Sultan Al Jaber , Cop28 President and Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology.

“The blue residency visa aims to attract global environmental leaders to contribute to the UAE's sustainable economic and social development," said Dr Al Jaber.

"It underscores the nation's dedication to leveraging advanced technologies and artificial intelligence to create impactful solutions.

"With a forward-thinking approach, these solutions will address climate challenges and transform them into opportunities for a brighter future for humanity and our planet.”

Dr Al Jaber said the blue visa was in line with the legacy created by the Cop28 conference, the UN climate change summit that took place in Dubai last year.

Cop28 President Dr Sultan Al Jaber has welcomed the introduction of the new blue visa. AFP

“The conference was a paradigm shift, showcasing the UAE's unwavering commitment to multilateralism, international co-operation, and developing a united global approach to the challenges of climate change," he said.

"This visa will build on that good work and will help further establish the UAE as a front-runner in the development of technologies, such as artificial intelligence, that can help address climate change.”

Attracting talent

One of the main reasons for the introduction of the blue visa is to continue making the UAE an attractive prospect for skilled people from abroad, who are considering their future options, a UAE minister said.

"The Blue Residency will have a major role in attracting talents in the field including innovators, and climate champions from all over the world, who will contribute to the advancement of the UAE’s work in fostering a sustainable future for all," said Dr Amna Al Shamsi , Minister of Climate Change and Environment.

What other kind of visas are available in the UAE?

A five-year residency is also available for freelancers and self-employed people, without the need to obtain a sponsor or employer in the UAE.

Investors establishing or participating in commercial activities are also eligible for a green visa.

Remote working visa - In March 2021, the UAE announced the introduction of a residence permit for remote workers , which came into effect in September 2022.
