British Airways is running a great double Avios offer for its Executive Club members on flights to Europe from the United Kingdom and on European British Airways Holidays packages.

With this offer, you'd stand to earn at least 2 Avios per British pound ($1.27) spent on both flights and British Airways Holidays packages. If you use a points-earning credit card when taking advantage of this deal, you could increase your earnings even more. For additional value, you could also partake in the airline's generous double-tier points offer when booking a British Airways Holidays package.

The timing of this deal is great, as many Executive Club members felt stung when British Airways shifted last year to a system in which Avios are awarded based on the cost of a flight rather than the distance flown.

Bottom line

Many British Airways Executive Club members were disappointed by the airline's recent shift to a revenue-based Avios-earning structure.

Here's how to save up to $400 on a flight to London right now

British Airways is offering steep discounts on flight and hotel/car packages.

You probably don't need much of a nudge to book a flight to Europe right now, but how does $400 in savings sound? 

British Airways is offering a sweet deal to entice US travelers to fly with them, by offering up to $400 off on vacation packages, as reported by Thrillist . Book before June 29 for vacations taking place before March 31, 2023, for travel to London  from 26 airports across the US. The $400 deal counts for airfare as well as packages involving flight/hotel and flight/car.

So how does it work? You can save $50 per $1,000 minimum, $100 per $2,000, $250 on a package starting at $4,000, and the top savings of $400 applied to a $6,000 booking. So it's great news for those who are booking for big groups or luxury stays.

The airline offers up a few examples to get a sense of how your vacation could benefit. For instance, you can book a flight to London out of New York this September that includes a five-night hotel stay starting from $899 per person roundtrip; that number includes all taxes and fees and assumes a double occupancy at the hotel. A second example is a flight and seven-day car rental, going from New York to London roundtrip in October starting at $999. Those two examples have the discount already applied, and those prices make us go hmmmm , let's think about that and start clearing our schedules!

To make things even easier, British Airlines just announced four new direct flights  from the US to London. Plus, a Covid test is no longer required to fly for reentry into the US . That said, you might want to read up on what's going on with UK airports right now .

If the UK's upcoming changes to COVID-19 entry rules have you dreaming of a trip to London, British Airways has a vacation deal for you — or several, actually.

Fly from New York to London and stay at the Hilton Olympia hotel for $749 per passenger, round trip in economy or make that same trip from Los Angeles or Boston for $899 per passenger.

Prefer a spontaneous road trip across England instead? Fly from New York to London and rent a car for a week for $599. Or those staying stateside can fly from Los Angeles or Boston for $739.

"We know that our customers are eager to make up for lost time and plan their 2022 adventures," Marie Hilditch, British Airways' Head of Sales for North America said in a statement shared with Travel + Leisure. "Whether it's reuniting with loved ones or taking a long-awaited getaway, we have great offers that allow our customers to save on their next vacation to London, and beyond."

The deal also includes the option to fly business class from New York to London with a 5-night stay at the Hilton London Kensington for prices starting at just under $2,300 per person. However, those who prefer pasta over an English breakfast can consider flying from New York to Rome in economy for $639 per person, including five nights in a budget hotel.

The sale offers travelers to choose any combination of flight and hotel or flight and rental car that British Airways offers. Participants can save $50 on vacation package bookings up to $1000, $100 on bookings up to $2,000, and $250 on bookings of $4,000. For the maximum $500, spend at least $6,000 on your booking.

To take advantage of these deals , travelers will have to book by Feb. 7 and travel by Aug. 31, 2022.

England and Scotland will stop requiring vaccinated travelers to present a negative COVID-19 beginning Feb. 11.

The flight time to Perugia from London is around 2 hours and 25 minutes. You can fly directly from London Heathrow (LHR) to Umbria International Airport (PEG) three times weekly, giving you plenty of choice and flexibility. With seasonal flights operating from June to mid-September, you’ll be able to experience Perugia at it’s best.

Make the most of Perugia’s traditional Mediterranean climate. In terms of weather, the months of May to early October are preferable, although this is understandably a busier time of year - especially when festivals are on. From May through to September, there’s the lowest rainfall on average and pleasant warm temperatures whilst July and August are the hottest months.

However, due to its higher altitude, Perugia can be subject to chillier evenings, even during the summer. In the springtime, witness the ‘green heart of Italy’ flourish and bloom or see the patchwork hills begin to change colour in early autumn. If you do travel to Perugia during the winter, be sure to pack some layers.

In Piazza IV November you’ll find several famous monuments, including Fontana Maggiore and the main Cathedral, San Lorenzo. Look out for the Renaissance frescos by Perugino and Raphael in Cappella di San Severo before heading to Pasticceria Sandri, a beautifully unique café which dates to 1860. At Rocca Paolina, discover Perugia’s fascinating underground city, following the original network of intact medieval streets. Above ground, take in spectacular sunset views from Giardini Carducci.

Perugia is full of delightful restaurants and family-run trattorias. Most use local produce such as olive oils, truffles, mushrooms, meats and goats’ cheese from the mountains. Look out for homemade strangozzi, a square-shaped spaghetti native to the region. Umbria also produces world-class wines so head to vineyards such as Tili Vini for exquisite wine tasting. WHAT’S THE PRIZE?

7 nights overnight accommodation for 2 adults, including return British Airways flights in World Traveller (economy) from London to either Barbados, Dominican Republic, Grenada, St Lucia, St Kitts or Tobago. The prize is subject to availability and valid for travel between 1 June 2024 – 31 May 2025. Travel must be completed by 31st May 2025. Subject to availability and travel restrictions. Extensions to the ‘valid for travel’ period are not permitted. Rooms are subject to availability at the time of booking.

1.  For avoidance of doubt, the winner must be aged 18 or over. The winner’s guest must be aged 18 and over.

2.  The prize winner and their guest(s) must travel on the same itinerary. All parts of the prize must be used in conjunction with the same booking.

3.  Neither Executive Club tier points or Avios points will be earned with this holiday package

4.  All incidental expenses are the responsibility of the prize-winner. Once the holiday is booked, it is non-changeable, exchangeable or refundable. When planning your one world Explorer itinerary, here are tips to keep in mind:

Destinations are grouped into three zones and six continents:

Zone 1: North & South America

Zone 2: Europe, the Middle East and Africa

Zone 3: Asia and the South West Pacific

Your trip must be in a continuous forward direction, East or West, between Zone 1, Zone 2 and Zone 3. Backtracking within a continent is generally permitted, however some exclusions apply.

Your adventure can last from 10 days up to a year. Travel must be completed within 12 months of your original departure date.

Your trip must start and finish in the same city.

You must cross both the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean on your journey.

Your journey can include three to six continents, and anywhere between three and 16 flights.

You'll also get extra Avios on hotel stays booked directly with hotels, but beyond the first year, you won't earn any bonus rewards on everyday spending categories, which is disappointing.

The good news is that British Airways partners with several domestic and international airlines, including American Airlines. So, it is possible to avoid those surcharges, and many travel rewards enthusiasts make it work. But in general, maximizing your rewards with airline partners can be more challenging.

However, there are some benefits that could save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars per year on British Airways flights:

Discount on British Airways flights: When you use your card to book a British Airways originating in the U.S., you'll get a 10% discount.

Award flight credits: Each year, you can get up to $600 in statement credits when you book award flights to London and use the card to pay the taxes and fees. That's a credit of $100 for economy and premium economy seats and $200 for business and first-class seats. You can get up to three credits per year.

Travel Together ticket: When you spend $30,000 in a calendar year, you'll earn a Travel Together ticket. When you book a flight with British Airways, Aer Lingus or Iberia with Avios, this certificate lets you bring a companion for just the taxes and fees or get a 50% Avios discount if you're flying solo. The Travel Together ticket is good for two years.

Luggage protection: When you travel and use your card to make purchases, you could benefit from its lost luggage reimbursement and baggage delay insurance benefits.

Keep in mind that some of these perks require you to fly with British Airways. Before you take advantage of a benefit, however, be sure to compare other flight options that don't come with an expensive fuel surcharge.

Who is the British Airways Visa Signature Card best for?

The British Airways credit card is best suited for people who frequently fly with the airline. However, you may also consider it if you're a points and miles aficionado who wants to use Avios to book flights with British Airways partners.

It can be particularly worth considering if you can meet the $30,000 spending requirement for the Travel Together ticket, which can give you solid savings.

Versatile rewards program: British Airways partners with several airlines through the Avios rewards program and the oneworld alliance, giving you access to more than 900 destinations around the world.

Solid welcome offer: The card's welcome bonus is high compared to other airline credit cards; just make sure you can afford the minimum spending requirement to earn it, which comes out to roughly $1,667 per month.

Modest annual fee: Compared to the card's benefits, the annual fee is low. Just keep in mind that there's no guarantee that you'll get enough value from the card perks to offset that yearly charge.

Why we like it : If you want maximum travel redemption flexibility and premium benefits, the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card is a solid choice. The card offers a solid welcome bonus and a base rewards rate of 2 miles per dollar.

You can redeem your rewards for travel directly through the Capital One Travel portal, paying for some or all of your booking. Alternatively, you use the card to book travel on your own with an eligible travel merchant and request a full or partial statement credit up to 90 days after the transaction date. The card issuer also allows you to transfer rewards to several domestic and international airlines and hotel loyalty programs, including British Airways.

Premium perks include a $300 annual credit toward Capital One Travel reservations and 10,000 bonus miles each year. You'll also get complimentary access to more than 1,300 airport lounges around the world and an application fee credit toward Global Entry or TSA PreCheck. For that, the card charges a $395 annual fee, but it's not too difficult to get that value back.

Why we like it : If you want an airline credit card with fewer limitations, consider the Delta SkyMiles Gold American Express Card . The card offers a decent welcome bonus, as well as bonus rewards on dining and supermarket purchases within the U.S.
