Finger Lakes Cycle Boats launched in May, offering pedal boat tours for birthdays, family reunions, bachelorette parties and other private events. This is CNY

A new Seneca Lake boating experience called Finger Lakes Cycle Boats launched in May, offering pedal boat tours for birthdays, family reunions, bachelor and bachelorette parties and other private events.

The company’s boat, the Seneca Siren, began offering tours on Seneca Lake in mid-May. The 30-foot catamaran combines motorized travel with pedal power, allowing passengers to help propel the boat by pedaling.

Up to 16 people can book a tour. The pedaling is optional. Passengers have the freedom to sit or stand, and riders and cyclers can swap places anytime.

All the tours are led by U.S. Coast Guard-certified captains. (Passengers can’t operate the boat on their own.)

Owned and operated by Chris Marriott and Sam Hale, the tours launch from Watkins Glen and span 90 minutes from beginning to end, plus a brief safety demonstration at the dock.

The boat navigates Seneca’s western and eastern shorelines and travels up the canal. It operates daily, weather permitting, with trips starting every two hours from 11 a.m. Tickets range from $45 to $59 per person, depending on the total number of guests and time of year.

For private parties during peak season, it’s $780 to reserve the whole boat between Monday and Thursday, and $860 total to reserve the whole boat between Friday and Sunday.

Guests can bring their own food, drinks, ice, and music to connect to the boat’s Bluetooth sound system.

Marriott and Hale welcome guests over the age of 5 but recommend the experience for passengers 10 years old and up. Children weighing under 75 pounds must wear a life vest while onboard.
