Belmont Fire Department Station Tours
The Belmont Fire Department offers tours of its headquarters located at 14 Gilmanton Road for the purpose of increasing safety awareness.
Tour groups are designed for approximately 5—20 people. There must be adequate supervision for children. Firefighters remain ‘in-service’ during tours. Fire companies may need to respond to emergencies. If they do, it will be necessary for the tour to be rescheduled and your group to exit the station. Also, the visit may be cancelled at the last minute with no notification due to emergency response requirements. Please keep this in mind when visiting.
Firefighters have serious work to do. Birthday party groups are welcome to tour the station but may not hold party festivities at the station. However, we can come to your facility (See FIREFIGHTER VISITS ).
Fire station tours may be scheduled between the hours of 9:00am—11:00am and 1:00pm—4:00pm, Monday through Sunday. Evening tours are scheduled under special circumstances. Please allow 2 weeks notice to schedule your visit. Station tours last between 20—40 minutes depending on the age group and topics discussed.
Safety discussions and handout materials vary for different age groups. Please specify the number of participants for each age group on tour.

ABC13 tours Kingwood fire station where sewer, mold issues illuminate facility in disrepair
KINGWOOD, Texas (KTRK) -- When floods ravaged Kingwood this month , our first responders were rescuing families, saving animals, and kept our communities safe.
But Eyewitness News just toured where the community's bravest slept.
Patches now cover spots where rainwater fell onto old mattresses.
"In the dorm, they had to put plywood down so the raccoons couldn't come in and sleep with the guys," Sr. Capt. Gabriel Luke from the Houston Fire Department said.
ABC13 visited Station 101 in Kingwood.
"We have sewage issues. I know you saw the portable water we have. Well, one of the residents actually got us water because we can't drink the water here," Luke said.
Station 101 was once for volunteer firefighters. When Houston annexed Kingwood in 1996, full-time Houston firefighters took over. But the facilities, in some cases, remained the same.
"These stations were not built 30-plus years ago with the intent of having people here 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year," District Chief Christopher McAllister with HFD said.
The timing of ABC13's tour is undoubtedly not a coincidence.
Former Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner was never able to reach a contract agreement with the city's firefighters union, which left crewmembers without raises for years and stalled the department's recruitment and retention efforts.
Now, Houston has a new mayor. John Whitmire was elected after an endorsement from the union.
Whitmire announced a settlement that includes firefighter backpay and raises that will cost taxpayers about $1.5 billion and take 25 to 30 years to pay off.
But Whitmire has struggled to gain support for the costly deal and has yet to say how he'd fund it .
"What we've got to do is find the resources. Whatever it takes," the mayor told ABC13. "It's a darn shame that after first responders saved people's lives - 30-plus rescues - we've got elected officials on Monday criticizing the proposed package for their benefits."
"We are 500 firefighters short in the Houston Fire Department," Patrick "Marty" Lancton, the Houston Professional Firefighters Association president, said. "That's 500 firefighters less than what we had in 2010, and we're running nearly double, twice as many calls as today."
These political battles affect your tax dollars and, ultimately, our community's safeguards.
"You get used to it. You get used to the mold under the sink," Luke said. "You get used to the sink not draining and having you pay for it. You get used to it. It becomes just a fact of life."

Alabaster City Council purchases land for future fire station
ALABASTER, Ala. ( WBRC ) - As Alabaster grows, so does the need for more protection across the city. That’s why the city council announced on Monday they bought land to build a new fire station in the next few years.
The new station will be located on a five-acre piece of land on Country Road 11 near the Shelby Baptist Medical Center.
City leaders said they wanted the best location for emergency response.
This long-term strategy will set them up for success as the city continues to grow thanks to new developments and the school system.
City leaders say this gives them a head start so when the time comes, they have space available and ready for construction.
City Administrator Brian Binzer said they are focused on building more public safety facilities throughout the city.
“We will continue to do new things with public safety just to make sure alabaster is the right place that people want to live and be and that they are protected in a lot of ways for fire safety and police protection. Those types of things,” said Binzer.
The city plans to purchase more land in the future for an additional fire station just past the Promenade on Highway 31.

Jacksonville Fire Station 4 opens doors to the public on Thursday
J ACKSONVILLE, N.C. — Jacksonville Fire & Emergency Services is inviting members of the public to tour the new Fire Station 4, located on Marketplace Drive, 2-4 PM, May 16.
Jacksonville Mayor Sammy Phillips will be in attendance and is expected to speak. The facility was built to accommodate growing development and population in the service area for Station 4 and prepare for NC DOT changes to the corridor extension of Jacksonville Parkway.
The original Fire Station 4 was located on N Commons Drive, sharing a building with Onslow County’s Emergency Operations Center.
“Replacing Fire Station 4 will help us serve the community more effectively as we continue
to grow,” Fire Chief Tee Tallman said. “Not only will it give us much-needed space for our fire
trucks and staff training, it will also help us improve our response times by putting us closer to the heart of Jacksonville.”
The project broke ground in 2023 at the new site on Marketplace Drive. The new location
was strategically chosen to provide firefighters quicker access to major roadways and respond to
calls more efficiently. Firefighters were temporarily working out of the Jacksonville Parks facility
while construction was being completed and are now officially operational in the new building.
The new 13,118 square foot facility includes:
· Six Individual Dorm Rooms
· Fitness Room with Outdoor Access
· Watch Desk and Administrative Offices
· Isolated Design Hot Zone and Cold Zone Design for Station Occupant Safety
· Separated Decontamination Spaces with a Shower
· Isolated PPE Cleaning and Storage Areas
· Transition Zones with Isolated Mechanical Supply/Exhaust System Coordination
· Historical Display of Jacksonville Department Memorabilia, Including a Fire Pole
Public tours will be offered at the Open House event. Members of the public may park at the
Jacksonville Commons Recreation Center, 100 Recreation Lane, and ride the free event shuttle to
the Fire Station provided by Jacksonville Transit. Parking on Marketplace Drive will not be permitted.
