“The Godfather of Shock Rock,” American singer-songwriter and musician Alice Cooper (born Vincent Damon Furnier) has had a career in hard rock that spans over five decades.

Born in Detroit, Michigan on 4 February 1948, Furnier originally started Alice Cooper as a band (later adopting the name as his own) consisting of him on lead vocals, lead guitarist Glen Buxton, guitarist Michael Bruce, bassist Dennis Dunaway and drummer Neal Smith. The band started out playing various small gigs around Los Angeles, but with their “controversial” stage antics they did so without success; that is, until they signed with Frank Zappa’s new Straight Records label. In 1969, they released their first album, “Pretties For You,” and despite it reaching Number 1 for a week, it was considered a failure.

For the band, their success and fame came from their live shows. Deemed the “chicken incident” where rumors were made that a chicken head was bitten off on stage, the band used the attention to further their career, adopting the new “shock rock” subgenre of rock and roll. It wasn’t until their third album “Love It To Death” that they saw success in record sales, the first of what was to be a string of successful records both as a band, and as a solo artist. The tour that followed in 1971 featured their unique stage theatrics, including an electric chair execution at the end of the show; not to mention their androgynous fashion styles.

The summer of 1972 saw the release of their most iconic single, and album to date, “School’s Out.” It also saw a change of their on-stage presence with Cooper taking on a more machismo-type attitude. With the continuing achievement in their album sales and tours, the band put out yet another commercially successful album, hitting their peak with their last album as a group “Muscle of Love.” Due to constant disagreements and various other issues, the band went on a ‘temporary hiatus’ in 1974, a hiatus that they would never come back from.

It was in 1975 when the still Vincent Furnier legally changed his name to Alice Cooper, to continue making music as a solo artist; with his first album, “Welcome To My Nightmare” becoming a huge success. It was from this album the basis for the stage show television special “The Nightmare” was conceived, later gaining a Grammy nomination for best Long Form Music Video and setting rock history. However, by 1977 Cooper had hit his lowest point in his battle with alcoholism and was checked into a sanitarium to sober up.

Using his experience in the sanitarium, a newly sober Cooper released “From The Inside” and set his stage show for the album as the inside of an asylum. Unfortunately the sober Cooper didn’t last very long, with almost all of his albums from the 80s being deemed ‘blackout albums’ due to being under the influence of various drugs; consequently, the albums, which had a much different sound were not as commercially successful as his previous solo albums. It wasn’t until 1986 and the release of “Constrictor” that Cooper found his career back on top.

The 90s found Cooper touring more than spending time in the recording studio. The touring continued into the 2000s with the lengthy break in studio recordings broken with his release of “Brutal Planet.” By December 2010 it was announced the Alice Cooper (the band) would be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, seeing a reunited band perform for the first time in a long time.

Live reviews

Alice Cooper is a living Legend and the consummate Showman.

Seeing an Alice Cooper show, and it is a show, is not so much like going to the Big Circus maybe as it is sneaking off to the Freak show while no one is watching. You know it's all fake but you still applaud and get a weird tingle down your spine!

But, and this is huge, Alice backs up his Freak show with Hit after Hit after Hit!! And at 68yrs old He still has what it takes to grab you by the throat and demand your undivided attention to his Sideshow.

Alice stalks the stage with that same slightly Campy Macabre appeal He has utilized for decades and it still works And though the theatrics on stage are maybe toned down on the gore aspect they still hold a certain "charm" as it were (yes the Guillotine is still used).

But again the songs are there to back up everything visually that is going on and Alice's Lyrics still hold up to this day. Whether it is lamenting your "lost" Teenage years while singing along to "Eighteen" or remembering that feeling of the last day of School before Summer vacation with "School's Out" (with a working of Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall weaved in) or wishing that Alice Cooper would run for office with "Elected" while Trump and Hillary berated each other on stage and then made out while Alice looked on in humorous surprise (yes it is a show) and the brilliant "Billion Dollar Babies" which warns of the pitfalls of over indulgence of whatever vice you wish to apply. And the list of great songs goes on and on.

To that note Alice paid homage to fallen Legends with covers of:

"Pinball Wizard" for Keith Moon

"Fire" for Jimi Hendrix

"Suffragette City" for David Bowie (my favorite)

But like all performers like Alice Cooper (Iggy Pop, David Bowie, etc etc). They are only as good as their back up band they put together and Alice knows how to put together a Band no question!

In my opinion this line up of:

Glen Sobel:d, Nita Strauss:g, Chuck Garric:b, Ryan Roxie:g, Tommy Henriksen:g

might just be his most potent since the original Alice Cooper Band!?

This Band is on Fire and is highly energetic. Alice isn't stupid either and having an attractive Female guitarist in your Band will guarantee a certain "appeal" no doubt. But Nita Strauss, like Alice, can back up her looks with her playing and honestly is just "one of the boys" on stage.

Alice Cooper puts on a horrific spectacle that will enthrall you with his gruesome theatrics and will keep you shouting out the lyrics of all his classic rock anthems.

After seeing a live performance of Alice Cooper it is not difficult to understand why he is often referred to as The Godfather of Shock Rock. His live performances have often incorporated such shocking displays of fake blood, boa constrictors, and beheadings of mannequins in a guillotine. Last time I saw Alice Cooper he beheaded a mannequin and kicked the head around stage like a soccer ball to the glee and horror of the audience. His stage presence is also engrossing wearing gothic, macabre-like clothing, black leather gloves, black eye shadow dripping down his face, and a cane that he often twirls around like a baton. Although Alice Cooper’s stage theatrics are much to be extoled, his musical capabilities are just as amazing. He puts great energy into belting out his classic hits such as “I’m Eighteen,” “School’s Out,” and “No More Mr. Nice Guy.” His backing band consists of well-versed musicians tightly working together to create a musical platform that allows Alice Cooper to adeptly perform his best work.

You never know what to expect from an Alice Cooper concert. It could be a mannequin’s head covered in fake blood getting kicked right at you into the crowd or it could be wild antics performed with boa-constrictors, but what one should expect is a horrifically, spectacular time.

This was the best concert I have ever been too. I love Alice Cooper! His costumes were amazing and I loved the snake he had around his neck for one of his songs. And I was especially happy when he sang my favorite song by him 'Poison'. I was losing it then. The music was awesome and cool. And the effects, all the smoke and fire and flamethrowers and all that stuff was AMAZING! The colorful lighting and everything was absolutely breathtaking. The guitarist and drummers really worked their hardest to give a good show. The show in its entirety was insanely amazing and absolutely over the top cool and fun. I was practicly going insane they were all so good! The song selection that they chose to play was really good and absolutely out of this world. Mötley Crüe was also absolutely amazing and I loved the little background speach about how they first met and all that. It was a really interesting story. The opening band was also really good. And the style of music they play really suits it for them, they make it totally amazing for people who really like it, and want to go to concerts for those types of artists and music genres. With Alice Cooper, ya always gotta expect the unexpected cause ya never know what he'll walk out onto the stage in.

Alice's newest tour, entitled Ol' Black Eyes Is Back, is out of this world! I've been to so many Alice shows over the years, so I had gotten used to his show in the last five years. I loved that show, the set, and all of the songs, but his new tour really deviates from the past few years. Alice usually carries over a lot of concepts from his previous tours, so the whole show was a huge surprise! He threw in so many old songs--songs he hasn't done in decades! The set was completely new, from the huge baby wandering on stage to the chandeliers above the set. The stairs leading to the platforms/tower in the back were astounding and the perfect background to the set. Alice sounds just as good as ever, and his attitude (including facial expressions!) while he sings shows that he's still on the top of his game at age 71!

But one of Alice's best assets hasn't changed: his band! They have always been stellar, and his band of the last five years has really brought their A game to every show. Ryan Roxie, Chuck Garric, Glen Sobel, Tommy Henriksen, and Nita Strauss all deserve their own honorable mentions. They are all unique in their own way and bring something different to every show!

The show was great, and even if we have seen 8 shows through the years, the band still managed to insert à few surprises. "We still have a long way to go" I don t recall ever hearing live nor "Guilty",

The surprise hommage to gone friends Moon , Bowie and Lemmy was classy and sobre.

The Elected finale was premium Cooper: funny first level but at a second level a cynic caricature of the sad american electoral system and puppets that play the Game. Same kind of satyrical humor as in " I love America". Indeed I think they should prep the crowd with that song just before Elected.

I definitely would vote for him.

There is one flaw in Alicés shows: he NEVER talks to the audience. Who was Moon and Bowie for him for example. Why not give us a show with a little insight into the history of the songs? Granted it is another type of show but the man is living history. Let s have a little of it.

The band was soooo good. Pinball wizard was astonishing. And , suggestion, I sould start a tune with a classic waltz from ... Strauss of course.

Exceptional show from beginning to end. The set list blew my mind since I have been listening to the band since 1969, and he played most of my Loved and favorite songs. He sounds and looks very very good for 73 years of age. The band included original band member Dennis Dunaway on bass, and the other members who have been playing with him for quite some time as well. Nita Strauss is amazing!!!! The entire stage set up, and the entire stage performance was mind blowing to me. He did something very SPECIAL at the end of the set list and before the Encore. As they left the stage, there were 2 screens located 1 on each side of the stage, they came on and his voice brought our attention to the 17 Students shot here in Florida last month and he paid a beautiful homage and his respects to the Families and friends of the students. He Encored with an amazing Schools Out. As I said at the beginning, Exceptional Show.

A Paranormal evening with Alice Cooper was a great show at the Ordway in Saint Paul, MN. Alice delivered an exciting show as is par for Alice, I have seen Alice Cooper several times and I never get bored with his act. He truly is the Godfather of Shock Rock, Alice Cooper and all of the members of the band are true entertainers, Alice played some material that I have not heard before and they were songs that have very relevant lyrics speaking to the way people are behaving and feeling (particularly here in the USA). If you have never had the extreme pleasure of seeing an Alice Cooper event you are missing out on one of the true great performers that are left. The only song Alice didn't play that I feel should be a staple in the act is Welcome to my Nightmare but I understand that when you have a catalog of hits like Alice has; it has to be hard to pick which songs to play and which to cut out of the show.

Great show put on by the ever young Alice Cooper, i have been a fan of the group since the early 70's but until now have not seen them live so was really excited. Kicked off with the very heavy Brutal planet and then straight into Under My Wheels, absolutely brilliant opening 10 minutes, They then play a lot of the more recent stuff which was really good but the show and the crowd kicked up several gears when the original band (minus of course Glen Buxton R.I.P) came on. This was what i and the majority of the audience came to see, they were amazing, just so good, Alice's voice has not faded one bit and of course he is the ultimate showman. A brilliant ending 'School's Out' incorporating Another Brick in The Wall with all the musician playing and being acknowledged. Excellent concert, would love to see just the old band playing live for a whole concert, now THAT really would be something.

Alice Cooper Announces Fall 2021 Tour Dates With Kiss’s Ace Frehley

By Claire Shaffer

Claire Shaffer

Alice Cooper has announced his return to the live stage with a headlining tour in September and October 2021.

The tour, which kicks off September 17th in Atlantic City, will feature Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley as a special guest beginning with the September 18th show in Gilford, New Hampshire. Frehley will perform with Cooper through October 22nd, after which Cooper will wrap up the tour with a set at Atlanta’s Shaky Knees Festival on October 23rd.

“We’ve always had fun touring together and it should be a heavy rock show with Ace and a great way to get everyone back to live concerts again,” Cooper said in a statement. “It should be a great night of virtuoso guitars!”

Frehley added: “I’ve known Alice for over 30 years. We’re good friends, and we’ve toured together numerous times and always had a blast. Our musical roots are very similar, and the combination of our two bands make for a great event that nobody is gonna want to miss. Being off the road for more than a year because of the pandemic has been tough on everyone in the music industry, and I’m really looking forward to seeing all of the fans happy, healthy, and ready to rock.”

Pre-sale tickets are available Tuesday, May 18th at 10:00 a.m. local time. Venue and radio presales are set for Wednesday, May 19th at 10:00 a.m. local time. The general on-sale begins Friday, May 21st at 10:00 a.m. local time. Tickets are available on Cooper’s website .

The "Too Close For Comfort" tour brings fans closer than ever to Alice with giant video screens blending the live action with pre-recorded scenes to delve deeper into Alice 's world.

Expect spectacle — snakes, guillotines, monsters and more — wreaking havoc on stage nightly. Classics like "Under My Wheels" , "I'm Eighteen" , "School's Out" , "Poison" , "Billion Dollar Babies" and "No More Mr. Nice Guy" are staples and there are surprises every night, effortlessly drawn from one the greatest catalogues in rock and roll.

Fresh from the success of his latest album "Road" , a concept album about the thrills and spills of touring, Alice is back, accompanied as always by his long-running live band of Ryan Roxie (guitar), Chuck Garric (bass), Tommy Henriksen (guitar), Glen Sobel (drums) and Nita Strauss (guitar).

"For 'Road' , I wanted the band to be involved in the foundation of all the songs," says Alice . "I only see these guys when we're on the road. So, I wanted them to be as tight as they are for the show but on all new material. When you have a band this good, I believe in showing it off, and this is my way of doing so."

Cooper pioneered a grandly theatrical brand of hard rock that was designed to shock. Drawing equally from horror movies, vaudeville, and garage rock, the group created a stage show that featured electric chairs, guillotines, fake blood and boa constrictors. He continues to tour regularly, performing shows worldwide with the dark and horror-themed theatrics that he’s best known for.

With a schedule that has included six months year in and year out on the road, Cooper brings his own brand of rock psycho-drama to fans both old and new, enjoying it as much as the audience does. Known as the architect of shock-rock, Cooper (in both the original ALICE COOPER band and as a solo artist) has rattled the cages and undermined the authority of generations of guardians of the status quo, continuing to surprise fans and exude danger at every turn, like a great horror movie, even in an era where CNN can present real-life shocking images.

With his influence on rock and roll and popular culture long since acknowledged, there is little that Cooper hasn't achieved in his remarkable career, including platinum albums, sold-out tours and any number of honors and career achievement awards.

Don't get too comfortable Sick Things, the Too Close For Comfort Tour is only getting bigger. 12 new shows added this... Posted by Alice Cooper on  Monday, April 15, 2024

Alice Cooper Announces 2022 North American Tour Dates

There's no rest for the wicked. Just ask Alice Cooper , who having just finished a run of U.S. dates will be back on the road just after the holidays!

Cooper will kick off a brief winter tour on Jan. 28 in Cincinnati at the ICON Music Center, with a series of shows that will lead up to his appearance on the Monsters of Rock Cruise that sets sail Feb. 9-14. He'll then hit the road in March with Buckcherry as support before playing a duo of dates with Ace Frehley in April. You can see all the dates, cities and venues listed below.

The VIP pre-sale for the run starts tomorrow (Nov. 2) at 10AM local time in each market, while the general public on-sale is set for this Friday (Nov. 5) at 10AM local time. Check Cooper's website for ticketing details.

Cooper is currently touring in support of his Detroit Stories album, a record that owes a nod to the city that helped birth his music career. The album serves as a celebration of the golden era of Detroit's rock history.

The singer's legendary stage show reveals his darker side, one that he cultivated as a young musician. Recently speaking with the Rock Classic Radio With Jenn podcast on Apple Music, Cooper recalled , "Rock 'n' roll needed a villain. True rock 'n' roll didn't have a villain," the singer recalled from his early days in rock. "We had all these Peter Pans... no Captain Hook. And .... I looked around and went, 'I will gladly be that villain."

But it's not all "bad," as he added, "I wanted Alice to be threatening and yet funny at the same time, you know? I wanted that combination of not exactly knowing what he was going to do, but you know, he may... he may slit your throat, but he would never swear at you ...know what I mean? He was a gentlemen villain and arrogant and condescending. And yet I didn't mind him slipping on a banana peel once in a while for the laugh. You know, there's nothing funnier than a guy like that, blowing it in front of an audience and then having to recover."

“RIP Alice” Trends on Twitter, Leaving Alice Cooper Fans in Momentary Hysteria

by Em Casalena June 8, 2024, 1:40 pm

Many fans of the Godfather of Shock Rock might have experienced their own unpleasant shock this morning on X (formerly Twitter). This morning, the keyword “RIP ALICE” was trending. Many were concerned that 76-year-old shock rocker Alice Cooper might have passed away.

Videos by American Songwriter

Luckily, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Alice Cooper is alive and well , and is currently touring the globe as we speak. He’s slated to play Sweden Rock 2024 tonight in Sölvesborg, Sweden.

I saw RIP ALICE trending and I got a lump in my throat. But he's OK. Nothing to see here. pic.twitter.com/rGHydtGuUb — 🇺🇸 ⚓️ Dr. Detroit ⚓️🇺🇸 (@DrDetroit_79) June 8, 2024

It’s not abundantly clear exactly why “RIP ALICE” was trending for so long in the United States. As of this posting, it’s currently trending at about 2,600 posts. Most of the posts under the keyword are speculating whether or not it is trending because Alice Cooper has died; which, he has not.

Upon further investigation, it looks like an internet-famous goldish named Alice died and sparked the trend in posts. RIP, king.

How Often Do Internet Death Hoaxes Happen?

This is far from the first time a false alarm for a celebrity death has sounded, and it won’t be the last.

Back in 2012, a rumor spread across social media that singer/superstar Cher had died in her home. A friend of the “Believe” hitmaker had to verify that she was alive to the public. The damage had already been done. It wouldn’t be too surprising if there are some people out there who still think she’s been gone for over a decade due to the massive rumor.

Justin Beiber was also rumored to have died multiple times through the years. Obviously, Beibs is still alive. But that didn’t stop at least one major news outlet from publishing his death announcement with seemingly no time to fact-check it before publishing.

Other stars who have been falsely rumored to have died on social media include Kanye West, Paul McCartney, Jon Bon Jovi, and many more.

Alice Cooper on Why Today’s Audiences Are ‘Unshockable,’ His New Album ‘Road’ and Gigging With Johnny Depp (Exclusive)

The iconic frontman also reflects on why albums still matter and forecasts a hard-rock renaissance.

"I go see bands and all they do is play their music," Alice Cooper told The Messenger. "And that's great. But they don't do what we do. We make the lyrics come to life. And that's what Alice has always done. If you say, 'Welcome to my Nightmare,' you got to give them the nightmare. That's what makes it Alice Cooper — we're going to be the best band onstage that night, but we're also going to give you that visual edge that you're not expecting."

The godfather of shock rock recently released Road , his 22nd album. The project was recorded live in the studio and written with the members of his band around the theme of touring — which Cooper has been doing for almost 60 years now. "There are so many funny aspects of the road," Cooper said, speaking via phone from a tour stop in San Antonio. "I just took the characters they brought in and exaggerated them."

Cooper, 75, has upcoming tour dates in stadiums opening for Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard and shows with Rob Zombie, along with headlining dates of his own. He also recently wrapped up a run in Europe with the Hollywood Vampires, his all-star group with guitarists Joe Perry and Johnny Depp — with whom, he notes, it's an interesting time to be sharing a stage.

But there's nothing like getting both dressed and made up, snarling through "School’s Out" and "I'm Eighteen," and cranking up the full Alice Cooper heavy-metal-meets-vaudeville experience — even if it can't have the same novelty after all these years.

"Well, I know the routine," said the guy best known offstage for his avid golfing. "I still play Alice the same way I did in ’72, except that now Alice is sort of an arrogant villain. But I love playing Alice Cooper, because every night I get to play this character that I'm nothing like. And that's fun."

Cooper spoke to The Messenger about why he keeps making albums, what it's like performing alongside Depp and why rock is better off as the underdog.

(Editor's note: After Cooper spoke with The Messenger, Stereogum published an interview in which the singer criticized gender-affirming care for children and what he termed "the whole woke thing," and expressed concern over trans-inclusive bathrooms. Many criticized Cooper's statements, and the comments resulted in his endorsement deal with makeup company Vampyre Cosmetics being canceled . To date, Cooper has not responded to any of the backlash resulting from the Stereogum interview. Before publishing this interview, The Messenger asked Cooper's representatives for comment from him on the controversy, but he declined to provide any further statement.)

Joe Perry, your bandmate in the Hollywood Vampires, is on a farewell tour with Aerosmith. Why is it important to you to keep making records, keep touring, keep doing it the old-school way?

We all made all of our money back in the '70s and '80s, when people bought albums. But all of those fans out there want to hear new music. So we don't make albums now to make money at all — in fact, you could lose money, but your fans are getting brand-new music. And what I enjoy doing, more than anything, is writing a song, going in the studio, doing a full-out album. Drake or Gaga or Beyoncé or Swift, they make money on their albums. But guys like us, we've already made our money, so the albums are really for the fans now.

The band is a big part of this album. Why did you want to make them the focus?

Every once in a while, you get a touring band where everybody's best friends. There's no ego, there's no yelling, there's no people complaining about "Oh, I'm not getting enough solos." And that's such a luxury. I never have to worry about the band and when we get on stage, the band just kills it every night. So I said to my producer that I want to feature the band; I really want to write the songs with the band. They all brought songs in, and then I said, "Now here's the trick. We're going to do all these live in the studio." And that is the proof of a really good band, when they can do that.

You're obviously one of rock's definitive frontmen, the guy who gets all the attention. Doing these Vampires shows with Johnny Depp, and knowing the scrutiny that he’s under, is there a different dynamic out there?

Well, for one thing, it makes you work harder. Because he comes with that iconic thing already. The guy's the nicest guy in the world, and he's a hell of a guitar player — you don't play with Jeff Beck unless you can play. I think people are very shocked when they hear Joe and him play together.

But yeah, you're right. When he comes onstage, the audience goes crazy. They love him. I'm the frontman, but I love the fact that I don't have to carry the show. Joe does a ton of solos and kills it. Johnny does three songs. And I don't really have to be the Alice that you see at an Alice Cooper show. I'm the lead singer in the Vampires, but I'm not the theatrical Alice Cooper.

You amplified the idea of shock and outrage in rock & roll. Can pop music still be shocking?

Oh, no, you can't shock an audience anymore. There's absolutely no way. It worked in the '70s because there was no internet; now, the world is unshockable. We're not even shocked any more when there's a mass shooting, which is really horrible. The fact that we're so used to that is really scary. So that era is done.

You’ve said that the decline of interest in rock & roll is actually a good thing — that rock & roll isn't supposed to be at the popular kids' table.

Yeah, I think that's really true. That's what rock & roll should be — the kid that doesn't fit in, the rebel, the outlaw. We were getting so popular that we were the standard. And I don't think rock & roll can live there. You need to be that outlaw looking in. So I think it's healthy for rock & roll to be in this place. Young bands now have something to feed off of.

So you see a rebound coming?

I think you're gonna see a total revolution. If you go to one of these big pop shows, it's Vegas. It doesn't have any edge to it at all. And kids are going to get tired of that. There's young bands out there in garages right now and they're learning Guns N' Roses; they're learning Aerosmith. So yeah, you're going to see hard rock come back in a big way.

Alice Cooper and Halestorm Tour 2024

The legendary Alice Cooper has announced a summer tour, and in the press release he’s promising an “all-new-show.” He’s calling the show “Ol’ Black Eyes Is Back,” and it “will have a very different look than recent tours.” New music is promised too. The tour includes co-headliners Halestorm and openers Motionless In White, and it kicks off in Allentown, PA this July, heads down south to places like Nasvhille and Texas, and wraps up back in the Northeast this August.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Famer Cooper will bring an all-new show for the Summer 2022 tour. Dubbed “Ol’ Black Eyes Is Back,” the show will have a very different look than recent tours. New music from Alice is expected in time for the tour, once again produced by Alice’s longtime collaborator Bob Ezrin, who most recently produced 2017’s acclaimed Paranormal album, featuring friends like ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, U2’s Larry Mullen Jr, and Deep Purple’s Roger Glover, as well as original Alice Cooper band members Neal Smith, Dennis Dunaway and Michael Bruce. Cooper’s most recent release, the live album A Paranormal Evening At The Olympia Paris, was released by earMUSIC in 2020. In addition to recording and touring both on his own and with The Hollywood Vampires (with pals Joe Perry and Johnny Depp), Alice continues his nightly syndicated radio show “Nights With Alice Cooper,” heard worldwide on over 100 radio stations.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 8, at 10 a.m. local time at LiveNation.com. Fan club and VIP presales will be available Tuesday, March 5, at 10 a.m. local through Thursday, March 7, at 10 p.m.

Alice Cooper launches satirical 2024 presidential campaign

“I have absolutely no idea what to do, so I should fit right in”

Alice Cooper

Alice Cooper has launched a campaign to become president of the United States, saying, “I have absolutely no idea what to do, so I should fit right in”.

The rock legend has encouraged fans and members of his Wild Party to “sign up to receive updates on the campaign kick-off, ongoing virtual rallies, Q&A sessions, and more” at AliceForPresident.com .

This is far from the first time Cooper has thrown his hate in the ring for the Oval Office – indeed, he has run in one form or another every four years since the release of his 1972 single ‘Elected’.

He did, for example, run simultaneously in 2016 for president and UK prime minister , including a manifesto that called for “adding Lemmy to Mt. Rushmore” and putting Peter Sellers on the £20 note.

This time around, he has released a campaign video, which you can watch below, in which he says: “Well, I’m Alice Cooper and I’m a troubled man for troubled times. I have absolutely no idea what to do, so I should fit right in.”

Cooper is heading to the UK this autumn for a string of dates on the ‘Too Close For Comfort’ tour. He kicks off at Glasgow’s OVO Arena on October 14, followed by shows in Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and London.

Recommended

The tour will conclude with two consecutive nights at London’s Eventim Apollo on October 20 and 21.

Primal Scream  will join as special guest at all locations except London, alongside The Meffs at all shows.  Sex Pistols  guitarist and songwriter  Glen Matlock  will join as special guest at the London dates.

Find any remaining tickets for the shows here .

The tour follows the release of Cooper’s August 2023 album ‘Road’. “For ‘Road’, I wanted the band to be involved in the foundation of all the songs,” said Alice in a press statement. “I only see these guys when we’re on the road. So, I wanted them to be as tight as they are for the show but on all new material. When you have a band this good, I believe in showing it off, and this is my way of doing so.”

Alice Cooper Launches 2024 Presidential Campaign

The post Alice Cooper Launches 2024 Presidential Campaign appeared first on Consequence .

Alice Cooper has launched his latest campaign for president of the United States, declaring his candidacy for the 2024 election. Before you get too excited at the prospect of the shock rocker taking over the Oval Office, he has satirically run for president every four years since 1972.

At 76 years old, Cooper would be the youngster among current candidates Joe Biden and Donald Trump. He’d also be the only Rock & Roll Hall of Famer among the three.

Get Alice Cooper Tickets Here

Cooper launched his first campaign in 1972 upon the release of his now-classic single “Elected,” on which he sings, “I’m your top prime cut of meat, I’m your choice/ I wanna be elected/ I’m your yankee doodle dandy in a gold Rolls Royce/ I wanna be elected.”

For his 2024 platform, he declares in a just-released campaign video, “Well, I’m Alice Cooper and I’m a troubled man for troubled times. I have absolutely no idea what to do, so I should fit right in.”

A description encourages members of the rock icon’s Wild Party to “sign up to receive updates on the campaign kick-off, ongoing virtual rallies, Q&A sessions, and more” at AliceforPresident.com .

Look for Cooper to do some campaigning when he kicks off his co-headlining summer US tour with Rob Zombie, featuring the politically minded bands Ministry and Filter as support. Prior to that, he’ll embark on his own headlining stateside outing earlier in the summer, giving him plenty of face time with American voters. Tickets to both tours are available here .

Watch Alice Cooper’s campaign video below, and stay tuned for updates on his presidential run.
