This marks the first solo tour for a member of BTS. The seven-member band announced a temporary break last year with the aim of exploring solo opportunities, while others complete their mandatory military service . Like other members, Suga has previously released solo mixtapes, including a pair under his alter-ego Agust D. He has also tinkered with production work for other artists like Psy and his fellow bandmate Jung Kook.

BTS' Suga Announced His First Solo World Tour
The rapper and singer will hold 11 shows in the U.S.
BTS is set to start their mandatory military service soon, but they’re giving their fans a proper send off before then. In addition to the individual solo projects, albums, and collaborations they’ve all released, Suga will become the first member to embark on his own solo world tour.
The group’s charismatic rapper, songwriter, and producer announced his first-ever global tour on Tuesday, which will take him to cities across the U.S., Southeast Asia, South Korea, and Japan. On his own, the member will play arena stages — and likely sell them out, too. The tour, called Agust D, named after his 2016 solo mixtape and his other stage name, kicks off in late April and will likely wrap up three months later in July with a few dates yet to be announced in Japan.
In the U.S., Suga is scheduled to play huge venues like New Jersey’s Prudential Center and Los Angeles’ Kia Forum — two arenas with a seat capacity of over 17,000. Per the tour schedule, he’s set to play multiple nights in some cities, which will hopefully ease some of the overwhelming fan demand (and ticketing nightmares).
Last we checked, Suga was meant to kick off his military duties in March 2023, but given the scheduling of the tour, that seems to have changed. It is likely he’ll instead enlist following the tour. NME reported that the boyband member will also not enter active duty as previously thought, and will instead fulfill his military requirements as a social service agent.
In addition to his 2016 mixtape Agust D , Suga also released D-2 , his second solo mixtape, in 2020. This tour will finally give him the opportunity to perform both of those projects live. For everything you need to know about attending Suga’s tour from the full tour schedule to how to buy tickets, read on.

Suga’s D-Day Concert Review: Agust D, Yoongi, and BTS Suga in One Glorious Fusion
By Jae-Ha Kim Teen Vogue May 11, 2023
With his first solo tour D-Day, Suga could’ve given fans what some may have expected — a stripped-down BTS concert focusing on the enigmatic rapper, with a few ments thrown in for good measure. Instead, the 30-year-old musician has been thrilling audiences with a full-blown extravaganza — pyrotechnics, a backup band, and one of the most unique stage setups I’ve ever seen. As his two-hour set seamlessly reflects on life, death, and survival, it has become clear that the star’s D-Day tour is equal parts rock opera and theater, performed by three compelling protagonists: the BTS idol Suga, his biting alter ego Agust D, and Min Yoongi (also romanized as Yunki) — the boy from Daegu who defied his once disapproving parents to become one of the world’s most famous pop stars.
The show starts off with a noir video that would fit right into a Chow Yun-Fat film. As rain beats down on the oversized screen at the back of the stage, Yoongi is depicted in a horrific motorcycle crash, which alludes to a real-life accident he experienced while working as a deliveryman. Breaking the fourth wall, four hooded dancers hoist Yoongi in their arms and cautiously carry him to the tip of the stage. As the sound of thunder crackles within the arena, the men gently lay him down, as if honoring his final resting place. But as the haegeum — a traditional Korean string instrument — pulsates and grows louder, Agust D is revived, uttering a single “yo” before launching into a vigorous rendition of his recent lead single, “Haegeum.”
The homonym, referring both to the instrument and to the concept of liberating oneself from restrictions, becomes a dichotomy through which to view his work; through all of his solo music, he has been relentlessly focused on liberating the self, freeing the various Yoongis from societal expectations and self-imposed pressures.
Dressed head-to-toe in Valentino , he reminds the appreciative crowd that he’s come a long way since his early years as a trainee, but he remains immensely thankful to the group that gave him the opportunity to be where he is today. In the first third of the concert, he sings a reworked version of the BTS crowd pleaser “Trivia 轉: Seesaw,” while strumming an acoustic guitar signed by all of his bandmates.
His stage production is minimalist, but it’s one that embraces technology. Nine panels complete a stage that will eventually disappear, one panel at a time, leaving less and less room for Suga to perform. But rather than being constrained by the shrinking setup, he appears freed. After the last panel is lifted high towards the arena ceiling, Yoongi is on the floor level, looking his audience dead in the eye. With all the panels gone, there is no artifice to his art.
Sitting at his piano, Suga pays a brief video homage to the late Ryuichi Sakamoto, who collaborated with him on his standout D-Day track “Snooze.” In the hypnotic number, he declares that “your success will be your leash and shackles,” before segueing into the gentle chorus, where he tries convincing himself that “everything will be okay.” Like much of his recent work, “Snooze” offers harmonic complexity along with a vocal hook (courtesy of The Rose’s Woosung, who is heard on a track) that reverberates.
Though known for his spitfire rapping, Suga’s vocals shine through beautifully throughout the evening, most notably on the haunting “Amygdala.” Here, he sings about his father’s cancer diagnosis, his mother’s heart surgery (which was also referenced in BTS’ 2015 song “Moving On”), and suicidal ideation. The amygdala is the portion of the brain associated with encoding our memories and processing our emotions. In his documentary Suga: Road to D-Day , he explains that all his unpleasant memories are stored in his amygdala. “I have massive mood swings whenever I’m working on this song,” he told Jimin in 2020. “To work on it, I have to bring up some of my unpleasant memories. But this is actually a very important process to learn to control them.” The rich arrangements of the song — which was more than three years in the making — fill out the musical palettes, presenting a sobering picture of what Yoongi went through to become Agust D.
The concert ends with a three-song encore that includes “D-Day” – where Suga promises that the “future’s gonna be OK / D-Day’s coming / It’s a f*cking good day” — and closes with “The Last,” a bleak track from Agust D’s self-titled 2016 mixtape. “Thanks to the depression that takes over me,” he spits out. “And all my self hatred / Min Yoongi is dead already / I killed him.” The powerful lyrics coupled with the chilling delivery drives home the point that Min Yoongi defied the odds by not only surviving, but absolutely thriving on his own terms.
In the final moments of the show, the cameras seem to multiply, his cadence intensifies, the lights flash like paparazzi light bulbs. On the giant screen, surveillance-style footage captures him at a dozen different angles. It’s all fury and flame and breathless swagger; Suga can dance, Agust D prefers to stalk. And the last image we see is Min Yoongi, his retreating back, the house lights already up, a person at the very end of it all.

“The last image we see is Min Yoongi…” I have been waiting for a critic to say this because this is also how I interpret his concert’s ending.

This is the absolute BEST review I’ve read! Your words so eloquently and precisely depict the D-Day experience making fans like me who couldn’t attend (but who were able to view some of the live streams) understand what a special experience it was. Thank you!

BTS SUGA Agust D Tour is here: Know everything about dates, venues and ticket prices & more
Bts suga agust d tour: here’s how you can buy the tickets and meet suga.
BTS Army, it’s time to get ready with your ‘Yoongi Marry Me’ posters because SUGA will be hitting the road, for his first solo tour this April 2023. The Agust D tour announcement was first shared on February 14, 2023 on Weverse, the official community app for Hybe artists.
Locations and dates of the concert
The tour starts its first leg in the USA on April 26, 2023, covering multiple locations like Los Angeles (May 10-14), Belmont Park (April 26-27), Newark, Rosemont (May 3-6), and Oakland (May 16-17).
He’ll then perform at Jakarta (May 26-28), Bangkok (June 10-11), Kanagawa (June 2-4), and Singapore (June 17-18) to finish off the tour de force in the capital of KPOP Seoul, South Korea (June 24-25).
The tour has been named after BTS member Min Yoongi’s alter persona, ‘Suga’ and ‘Agust D’. Both names hold a unique personal meaning behind them. Suga is formed from the first two syllables of the word shooting guard, which is a basketball player’s position that Suga played during his school days.
Agust D, the name of his first world tour and one of his mixtapes released in 2016, is a combination of the initials DT for his hometown, Daegu Town, and “Suga” spelled backward.
The BTS Army was shocked by this tour announcement as the Grammy-nominated group has to go on a temporary hiatus due to a compulsory enlistment into the Korean military for all able-bodied men from age 18-30.
How to book Agust D Tour tickets?
Ticket prices start at $87 each and climb up depending on the proximity to the stage and perks to a maximum of $8480. Like any previous BTS tour, tickets to the SUGA Agust D tour have been selling out in a matter of seconds since the window to purchase began on March 3 on Ticketmaster.
If you’re just hearing the news of the tour but missed the chance to buy the tickets first-hand, do not lose hope, and turn to reputable resale sites such as StubHub and Vivid Seats. In case, there are extra tickets after the Verified Fan Presale, Ticketmaster will offer them online.

BTS’ Suga to embark on solo tour as Agust D, but Armys ask for a Manila concert

Suga will be the first BTS member to go on a world tour as solo artist Agust D which will kick off in the United States in April 2023.
To recall, BTS’ Suga addresses himself as Agust D whenever he promotes as a soloist. The name, which was unveiled on the release of his debut mixtape in August 2016, is a combination of “Suga” spelled backwards and DT which refers to his hometown in Daegu Town, in South Korea.
The BTS member revealed the dates and cities of his upcoming world tour on his personal Instagram page on Tuesday night, Feb. 14, as well as the official Twitter account of his label Big Hit Music.

Suga’s tour will kick off at the UBS Arena in New York in the U.S. this coming April, and it also includes stops in South Korea and Japan, as well as Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore.
Following the announcement, the hashtag #SUGA_AgustD_TOUR has been trending on Twitter with over 662,000 tweets, as of this writing.
While it’s unknown whether Suga will be adding additional stops on his upcoming solo tour, many fans hope that more cities and dates will be added — including in the Philippines.
BTS fan account @OnlyBangtanPH said it has been years since Suga, as well as BTS, met their Filipino fans in 2017.
This was from BTS Memories of 2017. Yoongi, look how proud you were of having a concert in Manila, Philippines. 🇵🇭 Please bring #SUGA_AgustD_TOUR in Philippines. 🙏🏼 #SUGA #AgustD #슈가 pic.twitter.com/NI3W0DpmKo — Only Bangtan PH (@OnlyBangtanPH) February 14, 2023
Twitter user @my7_stars hoped that the Philippines would be added as one of the stops for Suga’s tour. “It only takes about 4 hours 13 minutes from Seoul to Manila, Philippines and yes we want a tour too, please,” they added.
Good day @BIGHIT_MUSIC incase you forgot there’s this country called Philippines located in Southeast Asia, It only takes about 4 hours 13 minutes from Seoul to Manila Philippines and yes we want a tour too, please. Thank you😊 YOONGI WORLD TOUR #SUGA_AgustD_TOUR — 𝑯𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒂⟭⟬🃏🚀🌊 (@my7_stars) February 14, 2023
Meanwhile, one @eleofg said the Philippines “deserves” to see a glimpse of Suga in person.
I’m getting emotional after Bighit announcement. Philippines deserve a tour too. A lot of Armys are waiting @BIGHIT_MUSIC . Please include PH for AGUST D tour. 😭 #SUGA_AgustD_TOUR #MANILA PLEASE — SevenOrNothing⟭⟬⁷🐥| HOBIuary🦄 (@eleofg) February 14, 2023
Fan account @OnlyBangtanPH echoed @eleofg’s statement, noting that the Philippines is the second country with the largest number of streams for the seven-member supergroup.
. @bts_bighit @BIGHIT_MUSIC Philippines is the 2nd Most Streaming Country on Spotify for BTS. Please, fans in the Philippines exist. We deserve a tour too. We have been waiting for 6 years for any opportunity. 😭 #SUGA_AgustD_TOUR https://t.co/53SUNmnx4k — Only Bangtan PH (@OnlyBangtanPH) February 14, 2023
Another @parkcalico_ laid out the reasons why Suga needs to meet his Filipino fans, saying they are “passionate” about singing and rapping during concerts.
Why Philippines deserve #SUGA_AgustD_TOUR 1. We have MOA Arena, Philippine Arena, that can accommodate thousands of armys. 2. Philippines is the 2nd Most Streaming Country on Spotify for BTS 3. We are passionate when it comes to singing or even rapping. We can do it. So jebal 😭 — Micasa⁷ (@parkcalico_) February 14, 2023
Born as Min Yoon-gi, Suga debuted as the lead rapper of BTS in June 2013. He has also produced a number of tracks for the boy group’s discography and a number of Korean artists including “Gangnam Style” singer Psy through the years.
Apart from his debut mixtape, the BTS member has made a name for himself as a solo artist through his hit songs “Daechwita”, “Moonlight”, and “Interlude: Set Me Free”. EDV

BTS: Suga Announces His First Solo Worldwide Tour, Is He Coming To India?
Curated By : Entertainment Bureau
Trending Desk
Last Updated: February 15, 2023, 10:33 IST
BTS member Suga announces international tour.
BTS member Suga surprised fans with the announcement of his first-ever solo tour. However, India is not on the tour yet.
Whether it was grooving to the beats of Give It To Me or having a mic drop moment with Daechiwta, BTS member Min Yoongi or better known as Suga has given fans some of the most impressive solo hits. The rapper of the group has not only actively contributed to the group’s discography but has also delivered two great solo albums under the alias Agust D. And now that BTS is taking a break from group activities to focus on their solo work, it only seems natural for Agust D to make a return. This time, however, it is not an album that Yoongi is dropping. He is embarking on his first solo tour abroad.
Yoongi shared a snap of the upcoming tour’s dates and cities on his official Instagram handle. It is something that members of the ARMY can certainly look forward to. The BTS member will kick off the tour in the United States. On his list for April is Belmont Park where he will be performing on April 26 and 27 and Newark on April 27. Next, he will make a stop in Rosemont on May 3, 5, and 6; then Los Angeles on May 10, 11, and 14; and finish off the first leg in Oakland where he will perform on May 16 and 17.
Suga will then return to Asia where his first stop is going to be Jakarta. He will perform there on May 26, 27, and 28. Opening the tour for June in Bangkok, he will perform there on June 10 and 11. Followed by this, Agust D will head to Singapore, performing on June 17 and 18.
He is then set to return to Korea for two concerts at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul. These will be held on June 24 and 25. The rapper of BTS will also be seen in Japan. The details are yet to be updated for the location. So far, India is still not on the list.

Suga’s fellow member, Jung Hoseok, better known by his stage name J-Hope, has never shied away from showing his affection and support to the members. This time was no expectation. He offered his support for his hyung in the comment section. Hobi dropped a few applause emojis, letting everyone know that Bangtan Sonyeondan might be taking a break from group activities but they will still support each other in all they do.

Contiki’s Gen Z Playbook for Tours: Small Groups and Fresh Destinations
Jesse Chase-Lubitz , Skift
June 6th, 2024 at 2:01 PM EDT
Contiki's CEO, Adam Armstrong, is working to boost the company's technological offerings as the company spreads further into Africa, Latin America, and Asia.
Jesse Chase-Lubitz
Contiki , a travel company focused on young adults, is eyeing expansion in Asia, Latin America, and Africa as it adapts to the post-pandemic travel landscape.
CEO Adam Armstrong said in a Skift interview that Contiki has a strong presence in Australia, New Zealand, and Europe and sees the potential to double or triple its business in these new markets. Increased demand from Australians and Americans for cost-effective and less congested destinations in Asia is driving the shift in focus.
Africa has emerged as a significant success story for Contiki, particularly among travelers in their late 20s and 30s, while Latin America remains a work in progress, Armstrong noted.
The CEO also highlighted changes in traveler preferences, with a temporary shift back to longer trips post-pandemic now leveling off. Group sizes are expected to return to pre-pandemic levels in 2024, and younger travelers are requiring more support to integrate into group environments.
Contiki plans to invest in AI-powered tools and decarbonize, too, Armstrong said.
Areas of growth
Skift: Your strongest markets are Australia, New Zealand, and Europe. Are you looking to expand your presence in other parts of the world?
Adam Armstrong: Outside of Europe, we’ve been making a concerted effort to build our business in three other regions: Asia, Latin America, and Africa. We’ve been operating in all those places for a while. But we see huge potential for us to be much bigger — we could double or triple our business there. So there’s a lot of marketing activity going for us into those three destinations to try and persuade people to try them out as well.
We probably would have done it before Covid. It’s just delayed. We’re seeing generally more demand for Asia from Australians and Americans. Asia’s up by about 40%. So we just want to jump on top of that. It’s also more cost effective than Europe for the traveler, it’s less congested. So there are a lot of pulls towards that.
I don’t think we’ve nailed Latin America yet. We’ve got some work to do on our product range to appeal to younger passengers. We launched in Africa about 18 months before COVID, and coming into 2020, we were going to have an amazing year. We are now getting huge demand, especially from our older clientele – so late 20s to 30s. It’s a big success story.
Post-Covid changes
Skift: In 2021, you pivoted from large-scale trips to smaller ones. How has Contiki adapted its travel offerings to cater to the evolving preferences of young travelers in the post-pandemic era?
Adam Armstrong : Yes, our offerings have changed a bit but also consumers have changed a bit as well. It’s kind of a mixture of the two. I don’t know if it’s chicken or the egg, which one came first. What we saw coming out of the pandemic is people shifting back temporarily to longer trips. Those longer trips were just starting to decline slightly every year. Coming out of the pandemic, people skewed back towards it, especially Australians and New Zealanders, having been isolated and making up for lost time. I think they peaked last year – they certainly are not as strong this year. I still think we’ve seen this revenge travel trend or whatever you want to call it. People going for long trips, going for longer and going further. But now it’s 2024 and it’s starting to calm back down again.
I think the group sizes will go back to how they were before last year. We were running very full coaches. This year there’s going to be a few spare seats.
Skift : Can you tell us more about how your travelers have changed since the pandemic?
Adam Armstrong: Those in their late teens and early 20s who were probably impacted most by isolation are coming in a little less psychologically ready to be in a group environment. There’s a little more reluctance and it takes a little bit longer to get into the rhythm of things. We didn’t see that before.
What’s interesting is the role of a trip manager over the years, we call them trip managers rather than tour guides and tour directors because you want to acknowledge that their skill set is evolving over the years away from just going from point A to B. They are helping bring people together, fueling friendships, and dealing with anyone who’s shy and maybe struggling to fit in.
Technological transformation
Skift: Hostelworld, an online travel agency, created a tool that lets guests chat with other hostel goers optionally if they want to connect before a trip as a way to help foster friendships and encourage bookings. What is Contiki doing to help foster a “sense of community,” which is especially important to this customer base? Can tech help in any way?
Adam Armstrong: We’re not as technologically advanced as that. But about two weeks before departure, the trip manager will reach out to everyone in the group and we’ll start a WhatsApp group. Generally, what’s happened is that this is used for pre-trip community building where instead of answering questions, it’s really an opportunity to start chatting and getting to know each other so when we turn up, you’ve probably got the measure of a few people. But we don’t have a dedicated technology for it. It’s done by the trip manager.
It’s on the technology roadmap for next year. But we have some other bigger projects that we have to get through first, which are boring, internal infrastructure projects. But this is important, especially for our demographic, that’s where they exist, that’s where they live and communicate, so we have to do a better job there.
Skift : Do you plan to upgrade or change your technology this year? Is artificial intelligence (AI) on your radar?
Adam Armstrong: We are trialing a couple of AI tools, one internal and one external. It’s really like a helpdesk function for our contact center or call center which will enable them to answer questions quickly. This is still in the planning stages. That’s a boring internal one that will help us. The more sexy interesting one for external is that people will be able to search our site by just giving us some prompts. We’ll be able to give them tours based on what they ask for. So rather than ticking boxes and filtering, you will just be able to write a sentence or speak a sentence. I don’t have a specific time for when this will be out, but not this year. It will be sometime next year.
Climate efforts
Skift: Your website says that in 2022, you made all of your trips carbon-neutral, but your activities largely rely on coaches. How are you decarbonizing your fleet?
Adam Armstrong: All of the companies under the parent company, The Travel Corporation, contribute a small dollar amount for every passenger that travels. So we all contribute to this carbon fund and we then compete in a bid for uses of the carbon fund for initiatives that are going to reduce our impacts and reduce our footprint. So there’s a multimillion-dollar carbon fund available each year.
We won our bid last year to use the money to fund HVO fuel (hydrotreated vegetable oil) for our coaches, which is a higher cost than conventional fuel. So far we’re running at 40% reduced carbon footprint in Europe this year.
Skift: Your site also says that you’re encouraging travelers to travel by coach and public transit and that you’re developing more “closer to home” trips. What are your thoughts on the future of local travel as a serious source of revenue?
Adam Armstrong: We tried selling domestic trips during Covid to domestic people, selling Australia to Australians, America to Americans. We didn’t get huge takeoff. However, we do see more Australians going to Asia and Americans going to Central and Latin America rather than to Europe, to kind of stay within the continent.
We have also been on a journey with how we market our climate credentials. We were really proud and shouting about it for a while but then the feedback from our guests was that it was a bit too in your face and that we were expected to do these things anyways. They wanted to know about the destinations and where they are staying. So we dialed that down a bit.
Rather than trying to be the hero we just make it part of the trip. We also heard that our customers didn’t want us to be so serious about it. Our brand is fun and a little bit irreverent and a bit cheeky sometimes. So without denigrating what we’re doing, we can have a bit of fun with it rather than being very serious and boring.
Adventure Travel Shaping Youth Group Tour Itineraries to Africa
Contiki is seeing more seasoned travelers shifting their focus from Europe to far-flung African adventures as the company digs into the immersive choice the post-pandemic traveler is hungry for.

Asian Americans call on Shane Gillis to apologize for past racial slurs amid launch of the new Netflix show
Several Asian American groups gathered in the Chinatown district of Los Angeles Thursday afternoon to call for comedian Shane Gillis to apologize for using “offensive racial remarks” in his stand-up performances.
Leaders of the Media Action Network for Asian Americans , Chinese American Citizens Alliance Los Angeles and the Greater Los Angeles Japanese American Citizens League gathered at the Chinese American Citizens Alliance Lodge for a press conference, in which the groups also implored Netflix to cancel Gillis’ new sitcom “Tires” and that Bud Light cut all promotional funding toward his comedy tour unless an apology is issued.
Netflix and Anheuser-Busch did not respond to NBC's request for comment in time for publication.
“For centuries, xenophobic stereotypes and slurs that cast Asian Americans as perpetual foreigners have endangered our communities, as seen most recently in the spike in anti-Asian hate crimes and incidents since 2020,” California House representative Judy Chu said in a statement, delivered at the conference by Mitchell Matsumura, president of the Los Angeles chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League. “I hope now, after these years of hate and discrimination against our communities, Mr. Gillis has taken the time to reflect upon his past words and actions and will finally apologize to the Asian American community.”
Gillis received criticism in September 2019 after videos of him using slurs resurfaced online. In 2018, his own podcast , “Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast," featured Gillis stating, “Chinatown is f-----g crazy… Let the f-----g ch--s live there.” On the "Real Ass Podcast” , Gillis called then-presidential candidate Andrew Yang a “Jew ch--k.”
At the time, Gillis had been recently announced as a new member of “Saturday Night Live,” but the controversy was followed by him being dropped from the show just four days after the casting. NBC Universal is the parent company to both “SNL” and NBC News. In a statement at the time, Gillis said, “I’m happy to apologize to anyone who’s actually offended by anything I said. My intention is never to hurt anyone. But I’m trying to be the best comedian I can be. And sometimes that requires risks.”
MANAA founding president Guy Aoki called the quote a “lame apology” at the Chinatown press conference on Thursday.
In the years since, Gillis has emerged as a prominent name in comedy. Along with a successful stand-up tour, he independently produced “Tires” before selling the six-episode series to Netflix, which has since renewed it for a second season. His “SNL” arc also came full circle this spring, when he hosted an episode.
At the press conference, Aoki shared that he sent letters to both Netflix and Anheuser Busch brewing company demanding Gillis make amends. The lack of response prompted him and other Asian American community leaders to hold a press conference on the matter.
“All of this sends a very hurtful message. If you duck a few years, slowly build your career back up and continue on as if nothing had happened, you can come back even stronger than ever,” Aoki said. “There’s a history of the industry allowing comedians who make offensive racial remarks… to not have to apologize.”
Cindy Wu, founder of the Anti-Asian Hate Coalition, said that Gillis’ refusal to take responsibility is “deepening the wounds” of Asian American communities.
“The aftermath of COVID-19 has led to many Asian Americans grappling with increased discrimination and violence. Our communities are still healing,” said Wu. “So I call for accountability and apology.”
