Testimonials

Really impressive zoo, with it being very clean and the staff was very friendly and polite. We saw an array of animals from lions to snakes to the cute family of otters. We would highly recommend Hertfordshire Zoo!

We loved our visit to Hertfordshire Zoo! The animals were amazing and there was no problem for wheelchair or mobility scooter users!, free parking is definitely a bonus. Well worth a visit!

When I visited I was lucky enough to do a Feed a Big Cat experience and it was AMAZING!  Aleena the Tiger "purred" and chatted as I fed her, it was such a great experience. Would love to do again.

A fantastic zoo with so many things to see & do. Lots of animals as well as dinosaurs, soft play, playgrounds, the train and a splash pool. My son loves it so much that we ended up getting a family membership!

Hertfordshire Zoo is a registered charity (no.1108609), the Zoo has a very knowledgeable and passionate team to care for the animals and raise funds to support wildlife conservation projects both in the UK and around the globe.

Paradise Wildlife Park: Animals, ticket prices, opening hours, parking and other information you need for your visit

The zoo is home to more than 500 exotic wild animals

wildlife safari broxbourne

Hertfordshire residents are lucky to have an award-winning zoo right on their doorstep in the heart of the beautiful countryside.

Paradise Wildlife Park in Waltham Cross is home to more than 500 exotic wild animals and is renowned for being both fun and educational.

From feeding big cats to shadowing a keeper, you can gain a first-hand insight into how a zoo runs.

Below is our guide of everything you could possibly need to know ahead of a trip to Paradise Wildlife Park:

With more than 500 animals, you’ll want to make sure that you leave plenty of time to see them all!

Over in the big cat territory you will find tigers, white lions, jaguars and snow leopards – to name just a few.

Zebras, reindeer, red pandas and of course meerkats are also sure to be popular and in the Birds of Paradise area visitors can see parrots, penguins and owls.

No trip to the park would be complete without a visit to the farmyard where you'll see plenty of farm favourites.

Sadly, the park recently said goodbye to Rocky , an Amur tiger who was sadly put to sleep after being unwell for some time.

He still remains an ambassador for the park however, having arrived when he was just six months old.

The pair had got to know each others moods and habits

Experiences

The park has a great reputation for allowing visitors to get up close and personal with the animals – some of which are endangered.

The Big Cats Experiences are some of the most popular and gives you the opportunity to feed either the tigers, white lions or have breakfast with the snow leopards.

Other animal experiences include meeting the meerkats, lemurs, tapirs, sloths and red pandas.

Want to see what it’s like to work at the zoo for the day? Paradise also gives animal enthusiasts the chance to accompany a zoo keeper for the whole day.

Animal enthusiasts can see what it's like to be a keeper for the day

From preparing feeds to cleaning out enclosures, you will be helping to undertake some of the most important daily tasks.

If you are passionate about both animals and photography, the photo day experience could be for you as you will see exotic animals through your camera lens, as well as learn tips and tricks from a nature photography expert.

Zoo tours are also available and even jungle sleep overs – which are perfect for a children's birthday party or school trip.

For more about Paradise Wildlife Park experiences click here.

Get up close and personal with the big cat feeding experience

Feeds, talks and shows

Animal Antics, Funny Bones Show and Animal Spooktacular are shows that run daily.

Wings of Wonder also takes place at the Paradise Arena and sees some stunning birds take to the skies.

You can also listening to talks and learn all about the likes of red pandas, cheetahs, and penguins, before watching them tuck into some of their favourite foods.

All talk and feeding times are listed in a programme that you’ll receive on your arrival at the zoo.

Food and Drink

For when you start to feel peckish, there’s plenty of eateries on site serving up everything that you could possibly imagine, from gourmet steak burgers and jacket potatoes to fresh baguettes and sandwiches.

Guests can also bring their own food to eat in the dedicated picnic areas – just be sure to put your rubbish in a bin or take it home with you.

What else is there?

Children will be entertained all day as aside from the animals, the site is home to plenty of adventure playgrounds, a train, safari golf and the paradise lagoon - to name just a few.

Soon Paradise Wildlife Park will be welcoming the World of Dinosaurs.

The meerkat enclosure is sure to be many people's favourites

Things To Do

Things to do | new animal habitats under construction at african safari wildlife park.

Construction crew at African Safari Wildlife Park is putting the finishing touches on two brand-new animal habitats in the Park’s Walk-Thru Safari. (Submitted)

The Park has not yet revealed which animals will occupy these new digs, but Park director Kelsey Keller promises they are “two of the species most frequently requested by our guests,” the release said.

Educational encounters with both species will be available to Park visitors once the animals have settled into their new homes, the release said.

Both spaces were designed with the animals’ well-being in mind, according to the release.

The larger of the two habitats, designed to accommodate a pair of semiaquatic mammals, is approximately 1,500 square feet in size, the release said.

Its naturalistic features include a large pool, waterfall and shade provided by broad-leaved trees.

The other habitat is an indoor facility for a smaller, tree-dwelling species, the release said.

The ambient conditions of this space can be kept at constant levels year-round to meet the species’ highly specific temperature and humidity needs, according to the release.

“Months of research went into developing these habitats, and every design decision we made was for the animals’ comfort and safety,” said Keller in the release. “It’s been fun to watch these projects take shape, and we can’t wait to share more details as completion approaches.”

The larger habitat will be completed and occupied in early June, while the smaller space is expected to be ready for its animal resident by early July, according to the release.

Updates will be posted on the Park’s website at www.AfricanSafariWildlifePark.com and social media channels.

For more information, call 800-521-2660.
