Decent rooms with large beds. Room size was a bit small though Food was unexpectedly very good. We loved it The only thing that troubled us during thr stay was some continuous drilling or hammering noise coming from somewhere throughout the night. We couldn't figure out what it was ..hope it was a temporary thing

Excellent location with beautiful greenery. Very good staffs, excellent room service.Although the price is a bit higher but its worthy. Also the restaurant is very good having tasty foods and variety. Only thing is the timing of the restaurant, as it opens as late as 8 am. Choosing 'with breakfast' is a waste if one want to move early around 7/7:30 am for visiting the places. Except the opening timing of the restaurant, everything is in place. It was a pleasurable stay for my family.Children also liked the hotel.

we have stayed in this hotel during our backpacking trip around india. mathura is a fantastic place to visit, however most hotels and hostels there are offering quite bad conditions, even for backpackers. we were really happy that we had chosen this place. it's very very friendly, clean and offers you a chance for a bit of chill out after visiting very busy, crowded and dirty streets of mathura. also restaurant there offers excellent vegetarian indian meals for a very decent price. price is definitely a good value for money. you won't be disappointed.

this hotel was fairly clean and the staff was friendly. we couldn't figure out how to get hot water to work so we had to use cold water, but overall it was pretty good. they were very helpful when we ended up having to check in very very early.

There was no business centre and no laptop or desktop computer available as such I could not get a print out of my boarding pass. Even though we booked a room with a garden view we could not see the garden as the whole garden was being decorated for a wedding. Since we went out during day time on the day of the wedding function we were not disturbed by the noise and the traffic, but had we stayed in or wanted travel around midday we would have been inconvenienced.

Had one of the most spiritual journey in Vrindavan and I am so pleased that Hotel Basera Team helped me make my path ever so easy. Fully AC rooms and excellent room service all the times, staff were very accommodating to my needs. Even the General Manager Mr Rao was very understanding and always ready to help with a smile. Thank you all so much.

Hotel staff was not co-operative. Our booking was for 3 days but after one day, the hotel management said they had already booked the whole hotel for marriage, so they asked us to leave the allotted room, when we didn't agree they shifted our luggage to some non-standard room. The room was a storage room kind of which was just adjusted somehow. There were no proper facilities and when we asked for refund they didn't gave us full refund. So we had to adjust somehow. It was a painful experience and we will never recommend this hotel to anyone.

I booked 2 family suites for a night. The hotel was not comparable to a 3 star hotel at all. The booking was for 27th December night. There was no heating in the rooms, the bathrooms didn’t have shower partitions. There were plastic doormats in the bathroom which were pretty much useless to wipe your feet once to take bath. The rooms have a weird connectivity for family suites. Only one door key per room was provided for a group of 7. I had to ask reception to start hot water in the morning which took them an hour to provide. No value for money.

A Hospitable Staycation Review
Hotel: Good location(a little away from the general crowdy places). Room: Clean rooms & washrooms, daily housekeeping(didn’t have to ask for it myself). Restaurant: Delicious vegetarian food. Top hospitality by the restaurant team especially Raj & Priyanka & Veepal. They always ensured that we’re attended every now and then. They also took extra care of our special requests for the food. Overall found the restaurant team very sweet & welcoming.
An Overall Incredible Stay
Great location, beautiful inside area, outside garden area, great management beautiful decor and plenty of parking. I had the chance of interacting with the owner Mr. Raghav whom inspite of being super occupied, he made sure that he is looking after the management and the functions management personally. His shear commitment towards making the whole programs a success made a huge difference. I would also like to mention the GM; Mr. Shishodia, who was amazing and was so helpful the entire way through. Also, the head chef Mr. Dalveer Singh was also personally looking after the menu making and food preparation.

Overall View of the Hotel
The resort is located on Agra road. Has adequate parking space for vehicles. Is a well landscaped resort with extremely serene environment. Has big lawn for taking a nature walk. The staff is extremely courteous. The owners are personally involved in upkeep of resort. The resort has a 03 elevators, Central Air conditioner , restaurant (midnight service available) , swimming pool , a nursery in the neighbourhood (same owner). Travelling in own vehicle is recommended though taxis & autos are also available just outside the hotel. The hotel facilitates in providing the vehicle (chargeable). An place made with lot of thought & devotion.

About Mathura - Vrindavan
Steeped in history and mythology, Mathura holds immense significance for Hindus as the birthplace of Lord Krishna, one of Lord Vishnu's most cherished incarnations. This city, considered the capital of Braj Bhoomi, is intricately linked to Lord Krishna's legend.
Millions revere Lord Krishna and his playful antics, keeping his stories alive through generations. Mathura's location along the Yamuna River proved advantageous, fostering its growth during the Mauryan era. Emperor Ashoka's reign further bolstered the city's prosperity. Later, under the Kushan Empire, Mathura transformed into a prominent centre for trade and learning. This strategic location at the intersection of numerous trade routes made Mathura a vibrant crossroads where diverse cultures mingled. It's here that Buddhist sculptural art blossomed, leaving behind a legacy of exquisite statues.
Just 15 kilometres from Mathura lies Vrindavan, Krishna's spiritual home. This sacred city is not only the place where Krishna's playful flute tunes were heard but also the stage for his divine acts (Leelas). The importance of the city is further enhanced by the poems of renowned Bhakti Movement poets like Surdas, Raskhan and Meerabai, who have immortalized Vrindavan in their verses.
Explore Mathura - Vrindavan through Lens
Vrindavan stands as a prominent religious centre in Braj Bhoomi and attracts devotees with its rich history. It was here that the famous saint Vallabhacharya and master of Indian classical music Swami Haridas stayed. Even Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, a revered saint, visited Braj Bhoomi on his pilgrimage. Braj Bhoomi includes more than just Mathura and Vrindavan.
This sacred area includes other holy places like Gokul, Barsana, Govardhan, Nandgaon, Radhakund, Baldeo and Mahavan. Apart from its famous temples, ghats and ashrams, Braj Bhoomi is known for its traditional Charkula dance and vibrant Raasleela festival.
Festivals: Rath-ka-Mela, Dauji-ka-Huranga, Lathmaar and Rangili Holi, Guru Poornima, Radha Ashtami, Krishna Janmashtami, Yamdwitiya, Annakoot, Basant Panchami,Akshay Tritiya, Phool Bangla, Hindole, Hariyali Teej, Nandotsav, Kans Vadh Mela, Akshay Navami, etc.
Just an hour’s drive from Agra, on the banks of the river Yamuna, is situated the birthplace of Lord Krishna. The entire land is dotted with magnificent temples, dedicated to various aspects of his life. The twin cities of Mathura and Vrindavan, where he was born and where he grew up, still resound to the sound of his laughter, antics and his magical flute.
Some of the famous temples are : Govind Dev Temple, Rangaji Temple, Dwarikadhish Temple, Bankey Bihari Temple and the ISKCON Temple.
Gokul, Barsana and Goverdhan are the other township associated with the legend of Lord Krishna. Gokul is the hideout where Lord Krishna was secretly brought up- away from the eyes of his maternal uncle Kansa. His consort Radha belonged to Barsana, where the unique Holi festival Latthamar Holi is celebrated with great gusto. At Goverdhan, Krishna raised a mighty mountain on his little finger to protect the locals from the wrath of rain-god Indra.
The twin cities of Mathura and Vrindavan are about 56 km from Agra.
In and around this heart of Braj Bhumi are spots and symbols that may immerse your trip in spiritualism.
The twin cities personify the legend of Lord Krishna, with folklore, cultural traditions and even day-to-day life are imbued with a divine presence.

3. Dwarkadhish Temple, Mathura
Dwarkadhish Temple : #3 Of The Best Attractions in Mathura
Ever seen an idol of Krishna without his flute and peacock feather, two characteristic features we always associate with him? Head to Dwarkadhish Temple in Mathura and you can see one. What sets this 200-year-old Hindu shrine apart from the other temples of the city is that the shiny black marble idol of Lord Krishna here is depicted as Dwarkanath or the King of Dwarka, without his customary flute and peacock feather. Accompanying him is his consort, Radharani, who is carved out of white marble. One of the largest temples in Mathura, this shrine is also known for its exceptional architecture and strikingly beautiful carvings. The entrance of the temple, which is constructed in the Rajasthani style of architecture, leads to an open courtyard with magnificently carved pillars.

Potra Kund , is a big stepwell in Mathura, has a particular place in the hearts of Lord Krishna devotees. According to popular legend, Mata Devaki and Vasudeva used this stepwell to wash their children’s clothing. In reality, the word ‘potra’ refers to garments. It was once known as Pavitra Kund and was said to purify the soul. The stepwell is near to Krishna Janmabhoomi and is connected to the River Yamuna, which flows 3 km distant, by subterranean pipelines. Why You’ll Pay More and Behave Better When You Travel This Summer
From Barcelona to Bali, higher fees and new rules are targeting overtourism and unruly behavior. Some locals are worried the changes will keep tourists away.
By Paige McClanahan
A new tourist fee in Bali. Higher hotel taxes in Amsterdam and Paris. Stricter rules on public drinking in Milan and Majorca. Ahead of the summer travel season, leaders in many tourist spots have adopted measures to tame the tourist crowds — or at least earn more revenue from them.
All of this may pose headaches for travelers, although in most cases, the new fees or tax increases represent only a tiny fraction of the total cost of a trip. The goal is to ensure that tourism functions smoothly for visitors and locals alike, said Megan Epler Wood, managing director of the Sustainable Tourism Asset Management Program at Cornell University.
“All tourism is dependent on beautiful natural and cultural resources. You have to protect those resources in order to be a viable tourism destination — and if you don’t, they degrade,” Ms. Epler Wood said.
In some places, proposals for new fees or visitor rules have drawn opposition from residents, who fear they might scare away the tourists who bolster the local economy. But destinations need to find ways to counteract what Ms. Epler Wood calls “ the invisible burden ” of tourism, which includes strains on a community’s infrastructure, utilities and housing stock, as well as tourists’ carbon footprint and any challenges they might impose on residents’ daily lives.
“You put so much pressure on the place that the people who live there become unhappy, and then they don’t present a very good face to tourists,” Ms. Epler Wood said. “The longer you wait, the higher the cost to fix it.”
Here is a look at new measures that travelers can expect this summer, and where others might be coming in the future.
New visitor fees
Since February, visitors to the Indonesian island of Bali have been asked to pay a levy of 150,000 Indonesian rupiahs, or about $9.40 per visit. Revenue will be used to support the preservation of cultural and natural assets on the island, where tourism has brought major challenges related to litter, water supply and overcrowding. Visitors are encouraged to pay the new fee online before departure, although it’s also possible to pay on arrival at the airport.
Beginning Aug. 1, most foreign travelers to the Galápagos Islands — which had a record-breaking 330,000 visitors last year — must pay a $200 entry fee, double the current rate. The money raised will be used to support conservation, improve infrastructure and fund community programs.
The change is the first increase to the entry fee since it was introduced in 1998, said Tom O’Hara, communications manager for the Galápagos Conservation Trust . Mr. O’Hara noted that the increase comes a year after the UNESCO World Heritage Committee urged the government of Ecuador to work toward a “zero-growth model” for tourism in the Galápagos.
“It’s quite a complicated topic,” Mr. O’Hara said, noting that the fee increase has been viewed “as part of the solution to overtourism.” On the other hand, he added, “everyone is trying to reassure the local tourist industry that this isn’t going to kill tourism on the islands.
In April, Venice began imposing a fee — 5 euros, about $5.40 — on day-trippers visiting on peak days, with the goal of striking “a new balance between the tourists and residents.”
But the new Venice Access Fee has drawn criticism from residents. “This project is a disaster for us. We are a city, not a park,” said Matteo Secchi, the president of Venessia.com, an association of Venice residents. Mr. Secchi said that a communications campaign would have been more effective.
The possibility of a new tourist fee has also drawn local opposition in Hawaii, where Gov. Josh Green has proposed a “climate impact fee” for visitors to the state. The measure failed during a recent meeting of the State Legislature, but Governor Green has persisted in calling for visitors to help fund the state’s preparation for future climate shocks.
“We have to get this tiger by the tail,” he told journalists in May, adding that $25 per visitor could raise $250 million a year, which the state could use to guard against climate disasters, manage erosion, strengthen infrastructure and protect parks.
Hotel fees and other taxes get a bump
Hotel taxes, also known as occupancy or accommodation taxes, are widespread in the United States and Europe, where they were on the rise for a decade leading up to the pandemic. With tourism’s rebound to prepandemic levels, several destinations have increased or adjusted the tax to capture more revenue.
Like Hawaii, Greece — which also suffered severe wildfires last summer — is looking to steel itself against climate disasters, and the government wants tourists to help foot the bill. Greece is calling the charge a climate crisis resilience fee , and it will be collected by accommodation providers. The tax will be higher from March to October, when it will top out at €10 per night at five-star hotels. The rate drops from November to February, and for hotels with fewer stars. The fee replaces the previous hotel tax, which ranged from €0.50 to €4 per night.
In Amsterdam, the hotel tax, which was already one of the highest in Europe, rose to 12.5 percent from 7 percent on Jan. 1. City lawmakers have also raised the tax on cruise passengers to €14 from €11 per person per night.
The hotel tax in Barcelona also rose this year, increasing to €3.25 per night. The measure was the final step-up in a gradual increase that began before the pandemic. A spokesman for Barcelona City Hall said that further tax increases would be aimed at tourist rental apartments and cruises that make short stopovers, which contribute less to the city’s income. The spokesman also noted that revenue generated by the tourist tax is being used, among other things, to fund the installation of solar panels and air-conditioning in Barcelona’s public schools.
Ahead of this summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris, lawmakers in the Île-de-France region have imposed a new tax, on top of the normal hotel levy. With the new tax, which will fund public transportation in the region, a guest in a five-star hotel now owes a total of €10.73 in tax per night stayed, while a stay in a two-star hotel incurs a tax of €3.25 per night.
Though the measure was adopted by the regional government, it was not supported by the leadership in Paris itself. A spokeswoman for Paris City Hall called the move “a democratic power grab” that “in no way benefits the city of Paris.” She noted that even with the funds generated by the new tax, the region still raised the price of tickets for public transportation in the city during the Olympics — a measure that has disgruntled many Paris residents.
Introducing new rules
In other tourist spots, the focus is on curbing behavior that pollutes the local environment or harms residents’ quality of life.
In Japan, authorities at Mount Fuji will cap visitors at 4,000 per day. They have also imposed a new fee of 2,000 yen (about $13) for access to the iconic summit. Elsewhere in the country, a community council in the Gion neighborhood of Kyoto has closed some small roads to tourists, after complaints that the area, home to the city’s geisha district, was suffering from crowds.
“We will ask tourists to refrain from entering narrow private streets in or after April,” Isokazu Ota, a leading member of the community council, told Agence-France Presse in March. “We don’t want to do this, but we’re desperate.”
A spokeswoman for the city’s tourism board described the road closures as “a local initiative,” adding that “neither Kyoto City nor the Kyoto City Tourism Association are aware of any details beyond what is reported in the media.”
Rowdy visitor behavior has been the target of new rules in Milan. In some areas, city leaders have banned outdoor seating after 12:30 a.m. during the week and 1:30 a.m. on the weekend in response to resident complaints. They have also limited the late-night sale of takeaway food and drinks.
And in certain areas on the Spanish Balearic Islands of Majorca and Ibiza that are overrun with drunk tourists, the government has imposed a ban on late-night sales of alcohol and the consumption of alcohol in the street. New restrictions have also been imposed on party boats in the same areas.
“Tourism has negative externalities that must be managed and minimized,” Marga Prohens, the president of the Balearic Islands, told a local gathering this month , according to The Majorca Daily Bulletin. Local tourism, she said, “cannot continue to grow in volume.”

Full Tourism Recovery in APAC Forecast for Early 2025
Fitch Ratings projects China outbound tourism to the Asia Pacific region will recover to 86% of pre-Covid levels in 2024, with full APAC tourism recovery expected by the first half of 2025.

Fitch Ratings said China outbound tourism to countries in the Asia Pacific region is projected to recover to 86% of pre-Covid levels in 2024. Chinese tourist spending will continue to be restrained. Fitch expects recovery in APAC tourism to continue in 2024 but at a slower pace due to less favorable base effects. Fitch expects visitation in APAC to reach 92% of 2019 levels while nominal international tourism receipts will exceed 2019 by 6%. China visitation recovery remains slightly slower due to its later reopening. They expect the APAC recovery to be fueled by robust demand, economic resilience, additional flight capacity, policy efforts to reignite tourism and depreciated local currencies. Fitch expects full APAC tourism recovery to occur in 1H25 but the risks are a slow restoration of international air traffic, elevated airfares and energy prices, and heightened geopolitical tensions.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board reported an 80% increase in visitor arrivals for the first five months of 2024, highlighting significant growth in tourism. The HKTK reported visitor numbers for May were 3.4 million, up 20% year on year with Mainland visitors accounting for 2.63 million, up 15%. That is more telling than the results from the first 5 months because the comparison was when Mainland China first started opening up after the pandemic. There were 18 million visitors to Hong Kong in the first 5 months of 2024.
STR reported China hotel data for the week ended June 15. China Hotel RevPAR was down -11.6% year over year, up against a decent +59.8% comp in 2023. Occupancy for the week was down -9.9% year over year.
