Do you charge for your time?

No, and there are no hidden charges for your holiday either. When your holiday is booked the tour operator pays me commission, rather than keeping it when you book with them directly.

Will it cost me more to book with you rather than booking myself online?

No, I can price match or even beat most package holidays e.g. Jet2, EasyJet and TUI. You will get the same holiday for the same price and you will be supporting a small business.

Can I pay for my holiday monthly?

Yes, after the initial deposit has been paid I can send you a link so you can pay amounts off as often as you want.

Can you book airport parking and hotels?

Yes I can book these for you.

Can I travel if I haven’t been vaccinated against Covid-19?

Baldwins Travel to open first branch outside the southeast

Baldwins Travel has unveiled plans to open a new branch in Grantham, its first outside the southeast.

The opening is part of a wider retail expansion plan which will see five stores added to the agency’s network in the coming 18 months, across regions not covered by existing shops.

In August this year the agency opened a new store in Haywards Heath, West Sussex .

Baldwins said Grantham was chosen because of its “rich history, vibrant community, and the presence of numerous small businesses” already in the town, which “aligns perfectly” with the Baldwins brand.

Chief commercial officer Dan Shaw said: “Throughout 2024 and beyond, we have enormous plans for the Baldwins travel brand, and we look forward to welcoming a new team across our physical stores, along with our soon-to-be-launched homeworking division.”

Baldwins now operates from a total of 10 high street stores.

Baldwins Travel managing director Nick Marks added: “Having only just announced the opening of our Haywards Heath store in August, we are thrilled to be expanding our presence further already with another new branch.”

The agency will be recruiting locally in the coming weeks.

Germany ‘standing in way’ of Czech bid to limit EU travel of Russian spies

Germany is blocking tighter restrictions on Russian spies across Europe, The Telegraph can disclose.

The Czech Republic has proposed ending free movement for Russian diplomats and their families in the European Union’s Schengen zone amid a series of Kremlin-inspired attacks .

Warehouses containing aid destined for Ukraine, arms factories supplying Kyiv and railway infrastructure heading east have all been targeted by Russia’s mounting hybrid war on the Continent , it is claimed.

Moscow has often deployed its intelligence officers in Europe under the guise of diplomatic postings.

The EU’s free-travel area, which spans 29 countries, is “easing malign activities” across the bloc, Jan Lipasvsky, the Czech foreign minister, wrote in a recent letter to Josep Borrell, Brussels’ top foreign diplomat.

Mr Lipasvsky, backed by eight EU counterparts, urged Brussels to “restrict the movement of Russian diplomats and their family members to the territory of a state of their accreditation only”.

“This measure will significantly narrow operational space for Russian agents ,” they added.

Mr Borrell said their letter was a “sign of growing support for a collective response”, but warned there are “diverse views on the proposed restrictions”, in his own official response, seen by The Telegraph.

European diplomats who spoke to The Telegraph and diplomatic notes seen by this publication revealed that Germany is a key blockage to the proposed crackdown.

It prompted allegations that Berlin’s government is attempting to foster relations with Russia , despite promises to end its reliance on previously cheap Russian energy supplies.

“Germany has the approach of returning to business as usual with Russia and they think this is escalatory,” a diplomat said.

Officially, Berlin has argued that a move to strip free movement rights from Moscow’s foreign envoys would result in similar reprisals.

German officials expressed “fears of a strong Russian reaction” in conversations with European counterparts, according to a diplomatic note seen by The Telegraph.

The powerful European capital fears its “strong presence” in Russia could be hamstrung if bans are slapped on the movement of Russian diplomats.

There are 350 German diplomats posted in Russia between its embassies in Moscow and St Petersburg.

Berlin closed consulates in Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk and Kaliningrad more than a year after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Italy, a member of the G7, emerged as another opponent because of the large number of Italians living in Russia, diplomats said.

Rome has argued that it would not be able to offer consulate services across Russia if the Kremlin responds with tit-for-tat bans on diplomatic movements.

Its government also voiced support for maintaining “open diplomatic channels” with Moscow and there were other tactics to fight Russian intelligence agents, a diplomat said.

‘Many agents hide under diplomatic cover’

The Czech government estimates there are more than 2,000 Russians living on diplomatic passports, including family members and officials.

“It is no secret that there are many agents hiding under diplomatic cover. We don’t want to make their job any easier,” a Czech diplomat said.

Prague also wants a ban on Russians with non-biometric passports from entering the EU, an embargo already in force in the central European country.

Ruslan Boshirov and Alexander Petrov, the Russian intelligence officers said to be responsible for the poisoning of Sergei Skripal in Salisbury , entered Britain on forged passports.

Similarly forged documents were used by the Russian spies behind a deadly 2014 attack on a warehouse in Vrbětice, a small village in south-eastern Czech Republic, in an early bid to thwart supplies to Ukraine.

While not a member of the EU’s Schengen zone, The Telegraph understands that Britain is supportive of the Czech proposal.

The UK earlier this year expelled Russia’s defence attache, a registered diplomat, in response to a rise in “malign” Russian activity across Britain and Europe.

‘Open-ended and unbiased talks’

James Cleverly , the then-home secretary, also revoked the diplomatic status of several Russian-owned properties that were being used as spying bases.

Britain has also limited the time Russian diplomats are allowed to remain in the country.

A German foreign office spokesman said: “The Schengen Area without systematic border controls is one of the most important achievements in Europe. 

“People enjoy freedom of movement within the Schengen Area – this also applies to diplomats.

“The Federal Foreign Office has taken note of the letter from several EU foreign ministers regarding restrictions on the movements of Russian diplomats within the Schengen Area. 

“We are currently holding open-ended and unbiased talks with our EU partners on this matter.”

NATO members Romania and Latvia report that Russian drones may have crashed on their soil during overnight attacks on Ukraine. Meanwhile, Russia claims to have captured Novohrodivka - a town just 15km from the key city of Pokrovsk.

After we brought you reports yesterday on Russia claiming it had seized full control of a town in eastern Ukraine en route to the strategically important city of Pokrovsk, here is the latest.

Russia's defence ministry has said its forces have taken the town of Novohrodivka, which lies around 7 miles from Pokrovsk, an important rail and road hub for Ukrainian forces in the area.

And Yuri Podolyaka, an influential Ukrainian-born, pro-Russian military blogger, published maps showing Russian forces attacking beyond Novohrodivka in at least two places less than 4 miles from Pokrovsk.

Ukraine has not commented on the Russian claims. 

The general staff of the Ukrainian military, in a report issued on Sunday evening, gave details of fighting throughout the Pokrovsk sector, including Novohrodivka.

It said 29 attempted Russian advances had been repelled, with seven skirmishes continuing. 

"Our troops are taking measures to maintain designated positions," it said.

But a Ukrainian officer broadcast last week told the US-funded Radio Liberty that Ukrainian forces had abandoned Novohrodivka on grounds that the positions there were not favourable for defending it.

For context : Russian forces are advancing in eastern Ukraine in an attempt to take the whole of the Donbas.

Vladimir Putin said last week that Ukraine's invasion into the Russian region of Kursk had failed to slow Russia's own advance in eastern Ukraine and had weakened Kyiv's defences.

But Ukraine's top military commander said on Thursday that Kyiv's move was working. 

Today marks 928 days since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine. 

Here's what you need to know as the war enters a new week.

Government reshuffle

Volodymyr Zelenskyy ordered a mass reshuffling of his government, with several high-profile figures resigning their positions. 

"We need new energy. And these steps are related to strengthening our state in various areas," the president said. 

On Wednesday last week, foreign minister Dmitro Kuleba quit - with suggestions he will be responsible for supervising Ukraine's integration into NATO in the future.

As recently as yesterday, Mr Zelenskyy announced Oleksandr Kamyshin, formerly minister for strategic industries, would now serve as an external adviser for strategic issues. 

The president himself spent the weekend in Lake Como, attempting to convince allies to allow him to strike deeper inside Russian territory, but more on that later... 

Iran stepping up military assistance to the Kremlin

Iran is believed to have sent more than 200 ballistic missiles to Russia - a move Western security chiefs say would be a "dramatic escalation" of its defence partnership with Moscow.

A Russian ship delivered the short-range Fatah-360 missiles from Tehran to a port in the Caspian Sea, a Ukrainian source told Sky News on Saturday.

Ukraine and its allies in the West have long feared that Iran has been supplying Russia with ballistic missiles.

To great surprise among allies and enemies alike, Ukraine has managed to successfully launch - and maintain - a land grab of Russian territory.

But has the invasion forced Russia to redeploy its forces and change its objectives? 

Ukraine's GUR military intelligence chief Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov said over the weekend that the invasion had signalled theatre-wide impacts on Russian offensive operations, but that Moscow was undeterred from stepping up efforts to capture its main objective.

He was almost certainly referring to Pokrovsk.

The city has been under aerial bombardment and is slowly being advanced upon by Moscow's troops.

It's home to a major logistics hub used by Ukrainian forces, which services the eastern region of Donbas.

Analysts, including experts at the US-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW), have noted intensifying Russian operations around the city are taking place in spite of the Kursk invasion.

Zelenskyy pleads for long-range capabilities

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy continues to press Western officials for permission to use longer-range weapons to strike deeper within Russian territory. 

He has promised only to use weapons to hit military airfields inside Russia. 

Last week saw the first time US-supplied missiles were apparently used by Ukraine on Russian soil, but allies remain hesitant to sanction deeper strikes, fearing escalation. 

The US-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said long-range strikes against military targets within Russia would "degrade Russia's ability to leverage sanctuary space in Russia for offensive operations in Ukraine". 

This would place "significant operational pressures on the deployment of Russian air defence, electronic warfare, logistics, command and control, and military support assets". 

Despite President Zelenskyy making the case, US defence secretary Lloyd Austin suggested that Ukraine has its own domestically produced missiles that could reach Russian soil.

Analysts noted most of Ukraine's long-range strike capabilities come from drones, which cannot be used to cause the same level of damage as long-range missiles due to payload limitations.

Today saw further Russian advances into Donetsk - as a looming direct assault on the key logistics hub of Pokrovsk draws closer. 

All indications suggest that Ukraine's Kursk operation has not deterred Russia's military command from targeting the city. 

Elsewhere, Kyiv and Moscow continued to trade drone attacks across the border, with a number of fatalities in Ukraine. 

And on the international scene, under-fire German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called for a renewed effort to bring peace to Ukraine.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has called for a renewed effort to bring peace to Ukraine.

Speaking to broadcaster ZDF in a televised interview, the German leader said he and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had both agreed in recent talks on the need for a new peace conference that would include Russia.

"I believe that now is the time to discuss how to arrive at peace from this state of war, indeed at a faster pace," Mr Scholz said. 

Ukraine in June hosted delegations from 92 countries at a first summit in Switzerland to advance its blueprint for peace, but notably did not invite Russia.

The chancellor is under significant pressure in Germany after all three parties in his centre-left coalition suffered significant losses in regional state elections, while groups who oppose further funding for Ukraine won more votes.

Overnight, at least two people were killed and four more were injured by Russian air attacks in the Sumy region of Ukraine.

The number of people killed in a Russian attack on a Ukrainian military academy in Poltava has risen to 58, the governor has said. 

The official number of dead after Tuesday's attack stood at 55 until this morning, when three more people died in hospital, Filip Pronin said. 

Funerals were held yesterday for some of the dead.

Ukraine's first lady had said the attack on the academy had also seen ballistic missiles strike a nearby hospital.

Shortly after Romania reported that a Russian drone entered its airspace and was looking for fragments on its own soil (see 12.41pm post), fellow NATO ally Latvia has done the same. 

"On 7 September (yesterday), a Russian drone has fallen in Rēzekne region," a statement from the country's defence ministry read . 

"It entered our airspace from Belarus," it added. 

"The national armed forces are acting in accordance with the established procedures, including informing the NATO command."

Latvia has been a staunch supporter of Ukraine since the Russian invasion in February 2022 - with President Zelenskyy keen to point out that, should his country fall, countries such as Moldova, Estonia and Latvia would be at risk from further Russian expansion attempts. 

Russian shelling has killed three women in a small village in the Donetsk region, the local governor has said. 

Vadym Filashkin said Russian forces hit the village of Cherkaske with cluster munitions this morning, killing the women, aged 43, 45, and 53.

The attack also injured a man, and damaged at least nine private houses and cars, he added. 

It comes after at least two people died and four injured by overnight Russian air attacks on the Sumy region (see 7.36am post).

The head of the CIA has warned that any move by Iran to supply Russia with ballistic missiles for its war in Ukraine would be a "dramatic escalation" - but Ukrainian sources say this has already happened.

It is part of a pattern of ever-tighter cooperation between Moscow and Tehran which has already seen the Iranian regime transfer huge quantities of killer drones, ammunition and artillery shells in return for cash and help from Russia on improving its own military technology and manufacturing capabilities.

This includes the alleged gifting by the Kremlin to Iran of captured Western weapons, such as the N-LAW anti-tank missile.

A Russian drone violated Romanian airspace during overnight attacks on Ukraine, according to officials. 

The incident occurred as Russia carried out attacks on "civilian targets and port infrastructure" across the Danube River in Ukraine, Romania's ministry of national defence said.

Romania deployed F-16 jets in response and NATO allies have been informed, it added. 

Romanian emergency authorities also issued text alerts to residents of two eastern regions, and authorities are now looking for drone fragments that may have landed on its soil.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, Romania has confirmed drone fragments on its territory on several occasions, most recently in July this year.
