NEW YORK (AP) — Greg Marcus has been in the movie business for years but he never expected to be urging moviegoers to take out their phones during a film — let alone to be crafting friendship bracelets in preparation for an opening weekend.

But there the chief executive and chair of the Marcus Corporation is in a promotion for his theater chain headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, stringing beads together while humming “Shake It Off.”

Movie theaters are readying for an onslaught like they’ve never seen before, beginning Friday when “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” debuts. The concert film, compiled from several Swift shows at Southern California’s SoFi Stadium, is expected to launch with $100 million, or possibly more. Advance ticket sales worldwide have already surpassed $100 million.

Swifties will descend. Dancing will be encouraged.

“This is different,” says Marcus. “Take your phone out. Take selfies. Dance, sing, get up, have a good time. We want to create an atmosphere.”

Concert films, of course, aren’t anything new. Just last month, the Talking Heads classic “Stop Making Sense” returned to theaters for a decades-later encore. But “The Eras Tour” heralds something new and potentially game-changing in the movie industry.

Two of the biggest stars on the planet — Swift and , in December under a very similar arrangement, Beyoncé — are heading into cinemas in first-of-their-kind deals made directly with AMC Theaters that circumvent Hollywood studios and which, for now, leave streamers waiting on the sidelines.

But how did the once declared-for-dead multiplex become the go-to place this fall a pair of stars previously at home on Netflix?

When studios began diverting some of their titles to streaming platforms, movie theaters began thinking harder about how they could fill their screens — a question exacerbated this autumn by an actors strike that’s led to the postponement of big releases like “Dune: Part Two.”

Movie theaters are increasingly not just a marquee of movie showtimes but a big-screen stage for a variety of visual media. BTS earlier this year released a concert film, with higher ticket prices and limited showtimes. The Metropolitan Opera has for years done popular live broadcasts in theaters.

Few acts can do what Swift and Beyoncé can. Their expected success is unlikely to be replicated. But “The Eras Tour” could be the start of an expansion of what, exactly, a movie theater can be. Think the Sphere, only much cheaper and in most towns.

“You could say we’re in the movie business, but really we’re in the getting-together-with-other-people business,” says Marcus. “The more we do of it, the more the customers will think about it and the more talent will go: This is something I could do.”

Swift’s camp was motivated to get the film out even as her stadium tour continues internationally. The tour, which is projected by Pollstar to gross some $1.4 billion, crashed Ticketmaster’s site, saw sky-high resale mark-ups and left many fans priced out.

The movie, directed by Sam Wrench, would be a way for millions more to experience the Eras Tour. Adult tickets are being sold for $19.89,” a reference to her birth year and 2014 album, a re-recording of which is due out Oct. 27. That’s higher than the average movie ticket but several thousand less than many tickets to see Swift live.

It’s arriving uncommonly fast, too, just a little over two months since the SoFi shows. Speed was one reason Swift’s father, Scott Swift, is said to have sought out a direct deal with AMC. Swift produced the film, herself, and, with 274 million followers on Instagram, didn’t need a studio to promote it.

The pop star’s apparent relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has only further brightened the spotlight on the movie. According to ad tracking firm iSpot, TV ads for the film ran only a few dozen times as of Oct. 6, including several spots during NFL broadcasts. (A Marvel movie, by comparison, might run several thousand TV commercials.)

Ticket sales will be split 43% with theaters and 57% shared by Swift and AMC — with the lion’s share of that going to Swift. The film will play exclusively in theaters for at least 13 weeks — longer than many Hollywood releases do now. AMC CEO Adam Aron has called the deal “a coup for AMC” on social media.

Both AMC and representatives for Swift declined to discuss the film’s release.

After a premiere in Los Angeles on Wednesday, there won’t be any advance screenings until the movie begins playing at 6 p.m. local time Friday. Most wide-release movies open with Thursday showings and Friday daytime screenings. It’s another wrinkle in a nontraditional release that’s challenging Hollywood norms.

“Innovation comes out of challenging times in this business. We’re seeing a lot of changes, some subtle, some not so subtle,” says Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for data firm Comscore. “It seems like, right now, there are no rules when it comes to being successful.”

Dergarabedian believes the two concert films should help lift the North American box office to more than $9 billion in 2023, up from the $7.4 billion of last year and edging closer to the $11.4 billion of 2019.

“It really opens up the idea that other types of content can play really well in a movie theater,” he says.

Some of those changes have been facilitated by the abolishment of long-held antitrust restrictions governing movie distribution. After more than 70 years of regulating divisions between exhibition and distribution, the Paramount consent decrees were terminated in 2020 at the urging of the Department of Justice, with a two-year sunset period that ran until last year.

“Innovation had effectively been stunted,” says Makan Delrahim, the former antitrust chief at the Justice Department who proposed ending the consent decrees.

Delrahim believes “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” — as a movie distributed by a theater chain, with nontraditional ticket prices — could “fuel new business models to save the exhibitors.”

“There will be more appetite to experiment different models for theatrical distribution,” Delrahim says. “The industry needs it and, frankly, so do consumers.”

Meanwhile, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” is poised to become the biggest concert film ever in about two days of release. Not accounting for inflation, 2011’s “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never” holds that mark with $73.1 million across its entire run. Accounting for inflation, it will be harder for “The Eras Tour” to catch “Woodstock,” which grossed $50 million in 1970, a total that translates to nearly $400 million today.

In Marcus’ theaters, like many other chains, there will be friendship bracelet stations. Sound systems have been modified for more of a concert feel. And while Marcus grants it will be strange to see an AMC logo before a film playing in his theaters, he doesn’t particularly mind.

“I’m just happy it’s there,” he says.

The full Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film is finally coming to streaming — with 4 bonus surprise songs

"Cardigan" and four songs from the acoustic set will be included in the "Taylor's Version" cut of the movie, which is heading to Disney+.

the eras tour movie orlando

It's Swiftmas in February!

Just days after announcing her 11th studio album , The Tortured Poets Department , Taylor Swift has unveiled the long-awaited streaming plans for her blockbuster Eras Tour concert film .

Disney+ announced Wednesday that it will be the exclusive streaming home of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) , a cut of the film that will present the concert in its entirety for the first time. The new version of the movie, which also includes the song "Cardigan" and four additional acoustic songs, will make its streaming debut March 15. Swift shared the news on social media shortly after Disney's announcement.

The Eras Tour film, directed by Sam Wrench, grossed more than $260 million at the global box office, making it the top selling concert film of all time.

Buda Mendes/TAS23/Getty Images

In making the announcement, Disney CEO Bob Iger said, "The Eras Tour has been a true phenomenon that has and continues to thrill fans around the world, and we are very excited to bring this electrifying concert to audiences wherever they are, exclusively on Disney+."

The film debuted in theaters Oct. 13, and noticeably excluded five songs from the Eras Tour set list as it was performed in Los Angeles in August, when the film was shot: "No Body No Crime," "Wildest Dreams," "The Archer," "Cardigan" and "Long Live." When it later headed to VOD rentals on Swift's birthday on Dec. 13, a new version of the film featured the performances of "Wildest Dreams," "The Archer" and "Long Live" tacked on at the end, but not the other two songs.

Given that this new Taylor's Version of the film is being touted as being shown "in its entirety for the first time," it stands to reason that all the missing tracks will finally take their rightful place in the film, in addition to four additional acoustic songs. But since "No Body No Crime" is not explicitly mentioned and "Cardigan" is, it would appear "NBNC"will likely be the only song to not make the cut, presumably since it was a performance with Haim unique to only a small handful of Eras Tour dates, and the concert film is more inclusive of the tour as a whole.

As for the four new acoustic performances in the film, on each of the three nights the concert was filmed in L.A., Swift performed two different surprise songs during the acoustic set, meaning there were six different possibilities for the film in that section of the show. In the original theatrical and and VOD rental versions, only "You're On Your Own, Kid" and "Our Song" made the cut. That means that the remaining acoustic performances of "I Can See You," "Maroon," "You Are in Love," and "Death by a Thousand Cuts" will likely be in the film somewhere.

Everything You Need to Know About ‘Taylor Swift’s: The Eras Tour’ Movie Now on Disney+

by Madison Owens · March 15, 2024

Taylor Swift The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) Eras Tour Concert Movie

Earlier this year, we found out that Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour concert movie would officially be calling Disney+ its streaming home . Up until now, the movie has only been able to be rented for 48 hours for $19.89.

The Eras Tour

And, the version of the film on Disney+ is different than the one that was in theaters and available digitally . This new version includes 5 additional songs and is affectionally called (Taylor’s Version).

We’ve been waiting in anticipation, and the moment is finally here! You can now watch the movie on Disney+ and we’ve got all of the important details.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) on Disney+

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) was originally supposed to debut on March 15th, but it was actually moved up to a release time of 9PM ET/6PM PT on March 14th . Many people thought the changing of the time meant something was going to happen at Midnight involving Taylor, but Disney+ is known for premiering anticipated content at 9PM ET, so it was normal!

The Eras Tour

I’ve seen the concert in person and have now seen the film twice (once in theaters, once last night when it was put on Disney+), so I’m here to let you know about the major differences in Taylor’s Version! As we already knew, the song ‘cardigan’ has been added into the folklore section of the show after not making the cut in previous versions of the movie.

But what’s even better about this version is ‘cardigan’ was placed in the correct timeline of the movie, as were a few other songs! In the extended version of the movie that you could rent back in December, the songs that were added were just tacked on to the end of the movie. Now, they’ve all been placed in the correct spots.

So, ‘The Archer’ is now at the end of the ‘Lover’ era, ‘Long Live’ is right after ‘Enchanted’ during the Speak Now era, and ‘Wildest Dreams’ is between ‘Shake it Off’ and ‘Bad Blood’ during the 1989 era, which is exactly how the setlist is for the actual concert. This brings you way closer to the actual experience of being there!

What has been tacked on to the end of the movie are the four additional acoustic songs. I felt safe to assume that the four songs added were the other surprise songs filmed during the first three shows in Los Angeles, since that’s where they filmed for the movie, but now it has officially been confirmed with the release.

Good Morning America has also been revealing the songs in the days leading up to the premiere.

The Eras Tour

So, after the credits roll on the initial part of the movie, you’ll get to The Acoustic Collection. This has all six acoustic songs that were performed during the first three shows in L.A., including the ones that were already in the first release of the movie.

In order, they are ‘I Can See You,’ ‘Death by a Thousand Cuts,’ and ‘Our Song’ on the guitar, and ‘You Are in Love,’ ‘Maroon,’ and ‘You’re on Your Own, Kid’ on the piano. The performances of ‘Our Song’ and ‘You’re on Your Own, Kid’ are also included in the actual movie during the acoustic set, between the 1989 and Midnights eras.

To celebrate the release, Disney+ created their own versions of Taylor’s eras that have taken over the homepage of the streaming service ! They start with Fearless and go through Midnights, with each section featuring movies that fit into Disney’s Version of that era — like Turning Red in the Red era and Cruella in the Reputation era.

Disney+ (Taylor's Version)

I do personally think this was a missed opportunity to create a Taylor Swift/Debut era and include Hannah Montana: The Movie , which Taylor literally makes a cameo in, but it’s okay, I guess (wait, but also, why isn’t Peter Pan in the folklore era?! The movie is directly referenced in ‘cardigan!’).

Disney+ (Taylor's Version)

Either way, it’s super fun! There is also a giant ad for the movie over at Disney Springs in Disney World right now , which is awesome.

Taylor Swift Billboard

It’s no surprise that Disney is celebrating and promoting this movie because they did pay $75 MILLION to get the rights to it , but honestly, it was a super smart move (which you can read more about right here !).

The only thing I think would REALLY take it up a notch is if Disney+ added some Taylor Swift options to be used as your profile icons on the streaming service — give us the Eras Tour looks!

Also, just FYI, when you go to watch The Eras Tour on Disney+, it says that you can ‘enjoy access to merchandise’ by going to the ‘shop’ tab on the movie’s page, but the link there just takes you to Taylor’s normal merchandise website. And, there’s no exclusive merch on it right now, it’s just the different media options for her upcoming album ‘The Tortured Poets Department.’

Entertainment, taylor swift’s ‘the eras tour’ dances to no. 1 at the box office, eyeing 'joker' film record.

Movie theaters turned into concert venues this weekend as Swifties brought their dance moves and friendship bracelets to multiplexes across the country. The unparalleled enthusiasm helped propel “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” to a massive, first place debut between $95 million and $97 million in North America, AMC Theatres said Sunday.

It’s easily the biggest opening for a concert film of all time, and, not accounting for inflation, has made more than the $73 million “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never” earned in 2011. In today’s dollars, that would be around $102 million. And if it comes in on the higher end of projections when totals are released Monday, it could be the biggest October opening ever. The one to beat is “Joker,” which launched to $96.2 million in 2019.

A unique experiment in distribution , premium pricing, star power and loose movie theater etiquette—more dancing and shouting than a Star Wars premiere—have made it an undeniable hit. Compiled from Swift’s summer shows at Southern California’s SoFi Stadium, the film opened in 3,855 North American locations starting with “surprise” Thursday evening previews. Those showtimes helped boost its opening day sum to $39 million – the second biggest ever for October, behind “Joker’s” $39.3 million.

Internationally, it's estimated to have earned somewhere between $31 to $33 million, bringing its global total in the range of $126 million to $130 million.

“This is a phenomenal number,” said Paul Dergarabedian, the senior media analyst for Comscore. “To have a blockbuster style opening weekend for a concert film is unprecedented.”

Swift, who produced the film, went around the Hollywood studio system to distribute the film, making a deal directly with AMC, the largest exhibition company in the United States. With her 274 million Instagram followers, Swift hardly needed a traditional marketing campaign to get the word out.

Beyoncé made a similar deal with the exhibitor for “ Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé, ” which will open on Dec. 1. The two superstars posed together at the premiere of “The Eras Tour” earlier this week in Los Angeles. It was a needed injection of star power with Hollywood actors over 90 days into a strike that has left most red carpets void of glamourous talent and resulted in several high-profile films being pushed to next year.

“The Eras Tour,” directed by Sam Wrench, is not just playing on AMC screens either. The company, based in Leawood, Kansas, worked with sub-distribution partners Variance Films, Trafalgar Releasing, Cinepolis and Cineplex to show the film in more than 8,500 movie theatres globally in 100 countries.

The spotlight on Swift has been especially intense lately as a result of her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The two made separate surprise appearances on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend and were also photographed holding hands in New York.

It led to some hyperbolic projections going into the weekend, with some analysts predicting that “The Eras Tour” could make over $125 million. Dergarabedian said it's common for outsized expectations to be attached to massive brands like Swift. There's also no precedent for something like “The Eras Tour” and a celebrity of Swift's stature.

“The laws of gravity don't apply to Taylor Swift,” Dergarabedian said.

The film scored well with both critics and audiences, who gave it an A+ CinemaScore, a metric that typically signals a film will continue to do well after its first weekend.

Elizabeth Frank, the executive vice president of worldwide programming and chief content officer for AMC Theatres, said in a statement that they are grateful to Taylor Swift.

“Her spectacular performance delighted fans, who dressed up and danced through the film,” Frank said. "With tremendous recommendations and fans buying tickets to see this concert film several times, we anticipate ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour’ concert film playing to big audiences for weeks to come.”

The stadium tour, which continues internationally, famously crashed Ticketmaster’s site and re-sale prices became astronomical. Pollstar projects that it will earn some $1.4 billion. The concert film offered fans both better seats and a much more affordable way to see the show for the first or fifth time. Prices are higher than the national average, at $19.89, which references her birth year and 2014 album, and ran closer to $29 a pop for premium large format screens like IMAX. Even so, they are significantly less than seat at one of the stadium shows.

Showtimes are also more limited than a standard Hollywood blockbuster, but AMC is guaranteeing at least four a day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at all AMC locations in the U.S. Many locations also specified that there are no refunds or exchanges. And fans will have to wait a while for “The Eras Tour” to be available on streaming — part of the AMC deal was a 13-week exclusive theatrical run.

Michael O’Leary, CEO of the National Association of Theater Owners said in a statement the moment was, “Another landmark weekend for cinemas.”

“This year has been marked by unprecedented experiences for movie lovers in theaters across this nation,” O’Leary continued in a statement. “The ‘Eras Tour’ debut proves, yet again, that fans are eager to share other experiences in a communal way, with theater owners working creatively to build memorable moments in their cinemas.”

O’Leary said that a survey of 6,000 people by his organization and The Cinema Foundation found that 72% want to see more concert films on the big screen.

“The Eras Tour” accounted for over 70% of the total weekend box office grosses. “The Exorcist: Believer” placed a very distant second in its second weekend with $11 million, followed by the “Paw Patrol” movie in third with $7 million. Rounding out the top five was “Saw X” with $5.7 million and “The Creator” with $4.3 million.

“This is great news for theaters,” Dergarabedian said. “'The Eras Tour' wasn’t even on our radar in mid-August. You take this out of the equation and it would have been a totally different weekend.”

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore. Final domestic figures will be released Monday.

1. “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” $95 to $97 million.

2. “The Exorcist: Believer,” $11 million.

3. “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie,” $7 million.

4. “Saw X,” $5.7 million.

5. “The Creator,” $4.3 million.

6. “A Haunting in Venice,” $2.1 million.

7. “The Blind,” $2 million.

8. “The Nun II,” $1.6 million.

9. “The Equalizer 3,” $960,000.

10. “Dumb Money,” $920,000.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Is Back: How to Watch the Original Concert Film

For all the non-European Swifties, we can relive the Eras Tour (sans Tortured Poets) at home now.

the eras tour movie orlando

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is back, kicking off the European leg of the tour with three nights in Paris. These shows are the first public performances Swift has done since the release of her newest album The Tortured Poets Department. And fans' prayers have been answered: There will be a TTPD era added into Swift's live performances. No spoilers, but you can see which songs made the cut in our official TTPD guide here .

For Swifties like us who can't hop on a plane to see Swift, we can celebrate the return of the Eras Tour by streaming the original  Eras Tour concert film  on Disney Plus. The Disney Plus version of the concert film includes several new performances, including  Cardigan , and says goodbye to a few favorites, too. The first version of the Eras Tour movie hit theaters late last year and became the  highest-grossing concert film  ever, as reported by Variety. Then it was available to rent on demand.

So, are you ready for it ? If not, we've got you covered. Here's everything we know about the new concert film, how to watch Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version), and why a VPN might be a useful tool for streaming.

What's new in the Disney Plus version of the film?

Disney Plus' version of the flick will feature Swift's performance of Cardigan, which was previously cut from the theatrical release of the movie, and four additional acoustic songs. You can check out a preview of the Cardigan performance here , in an exclusive early clip on Apple's App Store. Swift had also released the names of the four new acoustic performances leading up to Thursday's release on ABC's  Good Morning America (also owned by Disney). Now that the film has officially dropped, we know that the four acoustic songs featured in the Disney Plus version of the film are I Can See You, Death By A Thousand Cuts, You Are in Love and Maroon (which is accompanied by another performance of You're On Your Own Kid). It's important to note that these songs are included at the end of the film, after the credits.

Swift  recorded  six acoustic songs during filming in August, and the performances of Our Song and You're on Your Own, Kid made both the theatrical and on-demand rental versions of the film. Now, all six performances have found their way into the concert flick, which is an extra treat for super fans like ourselves.

Songs excluded from the Disney Plus cut of the movie include Long Live, The Archer, Wildest Dreams and No Body, No Crime.

Taylor Swift 'Eras Tour 2' kicks off in Paris. Did 'Florida!!!' make the set list?

What do New York City, Paris and Florida have in common? They’re all the name and subject of Taylor Swift songs.

This week, the global superstar kicked off the second leg of her record-breaking “Eras Tour” in one of those cities (Paris).

And although she didn’t sing her new song about Florida , there were quite a few tracks from her newest album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department,” on the set list.

Here’s the set list from Taylor Swift’s first night performing on the European leg of “The Eras Tour” and what her song “Florida!!!” is about.

What is Taylor Swift's 'Florida!!!' song about?

“Florida!!!” is a pretty grungy, dark song about trying to separate yourself from a bad or painful situation and going to Florida to forget about it. You be the judge of if it’s reflective of the Sunshine State or not.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

Swift told  iHeart Radio  that after getting inspiration from crime shows, she thought of where she'd go if she needed to reinvent herself.

"I think I was coming up with this idea of 'what happens when your life doesn't fit' or 'the choices you've made catch up with you' and you're surrounded by these harsh consequences and judgement," Swift said. "And circumstances did not lead you to where you thought you'd be."

The opening line is “You can beat the heat, if you beat the charges, too. They said I was a cheat, I guess it must be true.”

Building up to the chorus, Swift sings a line that no-doubt has Florida’s tourism industry cooking up ideas:

“Little did you know your home’s really only a town you’re just a guest in. So you work your life away just to pay for a  timeshare down in Destin .”

If all of your Swiftie friends are googling "Destin, Florida" and "Timeshares in Destin," now you know why.

In the chorus, Swift and Florence Welch, who is featured on the song, both sing "Florida! Is one hell of a drug. Florida! Can I use you up?"

One of the most instantly iconic lines from the song comes after the chorus, when Taylor sings "I need to forget, so take me to Florida."

Which other song did Taylor Swift mention Florida in?

"Florida!!!" isn't the only song where the state got a shoutout. In the first song on the album, titled "Fortnight," both Swift and Post Malone sing:

"'Nother fortnight lost in America.  Move to Florida, buy the car you want . But it won't start up 'til you touch, touch, touch me. Thought of calling ya, but you won't pick up."

What songs did Taylor sing in Paris?

Although Miss Swift didn't sing her song named after the Sunshine State, Florida still got a minor shoutout in Paris when she sang "Fortnight."

Here's the set list from Taylor Swift's first "Eras Tour" show in Paris, according to USA TODAY's Taylor Swift Reporter Bryan West:

  • "Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince"
  • "Cruel Summer"
  • "You Need to Calm Down"
  • "You Belong With Me"
  • "Love Story"
  • "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"
  • "I Knew You Were Trouble"
  • "All Too Well (10-Minute Version)"
  • "Enchanted"
  • "Ready For It?"
  • "Don't Blame Me"
  • "Look What You Made Me Do"
  • "Champagne Problems"
  • "Illicit Affairs"
  • "My Tears Ricochet"
  • "Blank Space"
  • "Shake it Off"
  • "Wildest Dreams"
  • "Bad Blood"
  • "But Daddy I Love Him"
  • "So High School"
  • "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me"
  • "Fortnight"
  • "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived"
  • "I Can Do It with a Broken Heart"
  • "Lavender Haze"
  • "Anti-Hero"
  • "Midnight Rain"
  • "Vigilante S---"

According to The Eras Tour update page, Swift's May 9, 2024, show was " officially... filmed and recorded " (via X ). Notably, The Eras Tour movie was filmed across several nights during Swift's Los Angeles residency. It's possible the musician's team captured footage for promotional reasons, but, given the mastermind's past plans, it seems like something bigger will come of the recordings .

The European leg of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour kicked off on May 9 in Paris, France.

After the limited theatrical release of The Eras Tour movie , the film became available to rent for a period of time. Roughly five months after the concert movie hit theaters, it premiered on Disney+, becoming the streamer's biggest 2024 hit so far. As of May 2024, there's no physical version of The Eras Tour Movie available for purchase . Known for her many album variants, it's surprising that the artist hasn't put out a physical Blu-ray of the show. With the more complete version of the show, which boasts songs from Tortured Poets , being filmed, everything could change.

Taylor Swft: The Eras Tour movie features a highly talented roster of backup dancers and backing vocalists who accompany Swift onstage at every show.

How Taylor Swift Changed The Eras Tour Setlist To Include The Tortured Poets Department

Swift rearranged her entire eras tour setlist for ttpd.

In order to accommodate the seven tracks that Swift selected from her 31-song Tortured Poets double album , the 14-time Grammy-winning artist rearranged her entire Eras Tour setlist. Given the concert's staggering length, Swift was also forced to cut some fan-favorite tracks . While The Eras Tour still opens with the Lover era, it now moves around through the artist's discography as follows: Fearless , Red , Speak Now , Reputation , folklore/evermore , 1989 , The Tortured Poets Department , and Midnights . Sandwiched between Tortured Poets and Midnights are Swift's secret songs — two acoustic renditions of random tracks that didn't make the official setlist.

Not only were the sister projects [ folklore and evermore ] combined into one era, but Swift cut several songs from those beloved albums.

Undoubtedly, the folklore and evermore Eras took the biggest hits. Not only were the sister projects combined into one era, but Swift cut several songs from those beloved albums to make way for her latest release, including the emotional — and impressively staged — "tolerate it" from evermore . These cuts made way for the addition of a whopping seven songs from The Tortured Poets Department , including the album's lead single, "Fortnight," and stand-out viral hits like "Down Bad" and "I Can Do It with a Broken Heart."

Taylor Swift has released 11 albums (and re-recorded four) over the course of her 18-year career, some of which are better than others.

Why An Extended Version Of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Movie Makes Sense

Swifties who won't see the tortured poets department era live could experience it in movie form.

Although Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) seemed like it would be the definitive cut of the concert movie, the addition of The Tortured Poets Department era means that the at-home viewing experience is now incomplete. It's incredibly likely that Taylor Swift 's team to release an updated version with the Tortured Poets setlist wedged into the show — or coming in at the end as a surprise "after credits" feature. It only makes sense for the musician to release another extended version of the movie, as it would allow fans who went to previous tour stops to see the latest and greatest iteration of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour .
