We had PJ as our tour guide. He showed us how to shop like a local as well as giving us some interesting information about the foods we were eating. We got to try several delicious cheeses and meats, taste some good wine and enjoyed several desserts! Montmartre is a great area for the tour and PJ showed us a few of the sites and had stories to go with them!

What can I say about PJ that you guys dont know he was amazing so funny he was Montmarte he even saved us from pickpockets

I would not consider this a "food tour." This was more or a food "tasting." A "tour" implies we would have walked around trying different food at different places, but that's not what this was. This was walkint around, buying food and then going back to someone's basement to sample all of the food. Very weird setup.

Our guide Clément was fantastic, his passion for fresh local produce was evident from the fist stop. He was a wealth of information, entertainment and a great host. We enjoyed every bite and would highly recommend this tour!

This tour was very casual and fun. Tour guide (can't remember her name but was a young lady) was very gracious and fun. The food (except one "mystery dish" she wanted us to try) was awesome! Really got a flavor for the food of the area and the beautiful Montmartre area, which was very charming. The only issue on the tour was when we sat down at their secret basement dining area it was extremely hot and uncomfortable. Suggest the tour company invest in some better climate control in that space. Other than that we had a wonderful time on this tour.

PJ was very informative and made us laugh the whole time. Tour ran almost 5 hours. Great food and wine provided. Best food tour ever done. Give it a go as you will not regret it.

Our guide, Daphne, was amazing. She showed us a great inside view of historic Montmartre. After taking part in some sampling and gathering our food for the tasting, we got to experience her awesome storytelling abilities while we enjoyed our French cuisine. Highly recommend this tour!

I purposely choose the six pm tour as it was dinner time. We walked around Montmartre and stopped at many food establishments, we got to taste cheese, meats, crepes , macaroons. All very good but no Secrets! Could have done this on our own and for 200 euros bought samples plus! At end of tour went into basement and was served the samplings from the places we visited. We did have wine. Felt unsafe in basement as only egress was up a spiral staircase. Not suitable if unstable on feet.

We had a full day in Paris with no plans. We found this tour and it looked like the perfect afternoon. It was exactly that...perfect!! It was the right combination of walking, tasting, and learning about the area and it’s food! Marie, our guide, was delightful!! So knowledgeable, funny, and a joy to be with. We especially loved that we went to places where the locals went - not the touristy parts of Montmartre! HIGHLY recommend this tour! Thank you for such a wonderful afternoon, Marie!

We were taken to a chocolate shop, bakery for pastries and bread, a cheese store while walking through the charming neighborhood of Montmarte. Alice, our tour guide was delightful, informative and entertaining. She is a great ambassador for France! After our shared meal in the wine cellar, she gave us a list of restaurant recommendations and emailed us pics and information on all we ate!

Our tour guide was delightful. The food stops were memorable and delicious. Her explanations were thorough and interesting. We ended with a gathering with wine and samples from our walk that day. Terrific experience!

We throughly enjoyed this tour of the Montmartre area as our apartment was in the Pigalle area. Samuel, our guide, as extremely delightful, very knowledgable of the cheese, pastries, bakery, wines and meat products and did an excellent job of shepherding our group through streets of Montmartre. Our meal was enjoyable and just a perfect way to start or stay in Paris.

PJ was great and so was the food and the experience! We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone wanting to visit the region and learn about how to identify and purchase quality food at a French market, what wine, cheese and meat pairings work best and then indulging in the most delicious deserts. PJ knows his stuff and is great at including the history of the area and the food and some of the secrets as to why French food is always made with such quality and attention to detail. Go check it out! My teenage boys and I loved it!

We had a wonderful experience on this tour. Our guide, Emma, was kind and very informative. We talked around the streets of Montmartre and learned about the food and culture of the area. The food was very tasty and definitely left us full at the end of the day!

Our tour guide Ingrid is phenomenal! She took the time to explain everything and answer all our questions. You really get a great feel for Parisian life from a local. Lots of walking, but you wont be disappointed in the experience... or the food.

PJ was great. Extremely knowledgeable. My only criticism is that the tour ran longer than scheduled and we were stuck in a small room for over two hours. It was warm and this portion of the tour should have been shorter. But if you are interested in food keep your fingers crossed that you get PJ.

Our guide Capuchine was great. Food was great all around. Had a great time. Just a great way to see this very eclectic neighborhood

Terrific tour with Christophe. Montmarte was a great place for a walking tour and our guide was very knowledgeable. The second half of the tour was sit down and included a cheese, cured meat and wine tasting, complete with crepes and éclairs. The tour/tasting lasted 4 not 3 hours which was great - but you should know that if you have other tours or dinner reservations the same day. It was so much food - we could not even think about dinner after the tour. Highly recommend - but come hungry!

So much food to taste! Amazing experience if you like to try different foods!

Eleanore was great. I would definitely do this tour!! Well worth the money.

Hugo was the absolute best guide for our Paris Montmartre food tour! He was passionate about the food, wine, and Parisian living. Hugo educated us on Parisian history and taught us what to look for in the shop windows for the best retailers. When we picked up all the ingredients for our tasting, he taught us how to break off a piece of a baguette without flattening the bread. He shared how the best pairing of wine and cheese should be from the same region. We learned so much and enjoyed his tour immensely. I look forward to another future food tour with Hugo!

We did this tour on our first night in Paris. On our walking tour our guide pointed out a lot of really good places to eat that we then went back to during our stay all the places were just as good as she promised they would be. We learned A LOT of French history and got to try many things. I would recommend this tour if you love food, especially trying different things.

We had one night in Paris on our way home from Italy. This tour was such a treat. We met a small group of people and our guide, who was so nice and knowledgeable. I would recommend this tour on your first day in Paris, as the information we learned can help you when shopping for food in the city. We walked to a cheese shop, a butcher, a baker for baguette which was named best baguette in Paris in 2016, buying items at each place while we also had tastings. We also stopped in the most amazing small macaron shop, where we got to try two macarons and two pieces of chocolate - both heavenly. Once we made a few stops, when went to a little place with our items and sat around a table where we learned how to share baguette, got to know our fellow travelers and tasted our bounty. They started us off with sparkling wine, and moved on to red wine with the other items of cheese, cured meats, pates and dessert. Our guide gave us the opportunity to try some items we might not normally try - for some, its checking a box, but you wont know until you try. Aside from those items, we enjoyed great cheeses, meats, wine and bread. It was a lot of fun and became our dinner that evening. What a blast. Cannot recommend enough. We did the 6PM tour.

Explore landmarks and monuments of Montmartre

Sample delicious pastries, crepes, and macaroons

Locally made sable, or cookies

Try culinary delicacies like mousse de canard, escargot, and wine

Classic charcuterie and cheese board with wine

Learn about the history of Montmartre

Meet Your Local Guide

To begin eating your way through the charming streets of Montmartre, head to your designated meeting point, which will be sent to you ahead of time. Your local guide will be waiting to greet you, along with your group of fellow foodies. Once everyone has arrived, it will be time to immerse yourself in the fascinating history and culinary wonders of one of Paris’s most adored neighborhoods.

Remember to pack your camera and wear comfortable shoes! This hilltop district is known for its many steep inclines and staircases, and you’ll be walking about 3.5-4km.

Marvel at Iconic Sites

Follow your guide through narrow, cobblestone streets and past stunning buildings, as they lead you to some of the area’s top landmarks. Stop by Moulin Rouge, a world-famous cabaret. Listen intently as your knowledgeable guide explains the venue’s history, including a devastating fire which destroyed the original building in 1915.

Later, you’ll dive deeper into the neighborhood’s history as you admire Le Bateau-Lavoir, an iconic building celebrated for the legendary artists that once lived and created here. Pablo Picasso, Kees Van Dongen, and Max Jacob are just a few of the notable artists that once called this building home.

Pastries From a Traditional Boulangerie

Your first culinary stop of the tour will be an authentic boulangerie, or bakery. Indulge in delectable French pastries, including two chouquettes and your choice of a croissant or pain au chocolate. We guarantee, you can’t go wrong with either choice!

Choose Your Perfect Gauffre or Crepe

Continue satisfying your sweet tooth at your second food stop, where you will have your choice between a delicious gauffre (waffle) or crepe. Enjoy a decadent French treat with your choice of mouthwatering fillings.

Enjoy Escargot and Wine

Next, sit down with your group of fellow foodies for a delectable tasting of escargot. Savor the bold flavors of this classic French plate, which will be accompanied by a glass of fine French wine. If this is your first- time eating escargot, not to worry—your helpful guide will show you how to maneuver the delicious snail from its shell.

Visit Le Moulin de la Galette

Take a break from devouring classic French delights  as your guide continues to lead you through the winding streets of Montmartre. Soon enough you will arrive at Le Moulin de la Galette, the neighborhood’s historic windmill which was built in 1622. While Montmartre once contained 30 windmills, this is now one of only two that remain. Your guide will explain the landmark’s intricate past, along with the many prominent artists that have depicted the windmill in their work.

See Le Passe-Muraille and Buste de Dalida

Take out your camera and get ready to pose for the next stop! Le Passe-Muraille is a one-of-a-kind bronze sculpture, depicting a man walking through a wall. The sculpture is based on a story by French writer Marcel Aymé, and has become a classic photo-op for tourists passing by.

Next, your expert guide will take you to a second prominent sculpture, the Buste de Dalida. In honor of the late, famed singer who called Montmartre home, a bronze bust of Dalida stands in a square of the same name.

Sample Mousse de Canard and Baguette

Your exploration of traditional French cuisine continues with a flavorful tasting of mousse de canard, accompanied by a fresh baguette. Enjoy the rich flavors of this classic dish as you  stroll along one of the most beautiful streets in all of Montmartre. Following your delicious meal with a view, your guide will continue to lead you to some of the area’s most historical sites.

Try Sable, or French Cookies

Perhaps the most photogenic restaurant in all of Montmartre, La Maison Rose, is a must-visit when in the area. Your guide will explain the intriguing history of this famous pink building, which was originally the home of Ramon Pichot after purchasing it in 1905.

Once popular among artists in the area, today La Maison Rose is a delicious restaurant, as well as a tourist hot-spot due to its picturesque exterior. While learning about the pink building’s past, you’ll snack on deliciously made sables, or French cookies.

Savor Macarons from a French Pastry Chef

There’s still one more traditional French sweet to savor before the tour is over! Follow your guide to the locale of a prestigious French pastry chef, who will serve you delectable macarons. You'll get to try two different seasonal flavors that change every few months.

Explore Place du Tertre

As you begin to reach the summit of Montmartre’s hill, your local guide will bring you to Place du Tertre, the liveliest square in the neighborhood. Lined by restaurants and cafes brimming with patrons, the cobblestone square is filled with artists working at their easels, creating stunning portraits for tourists. Your guide will explain the square’s artistic history, before leading you to one final landmark.

Take in the View from the Sacre Coeur

At the summit of the hill stands Sacre Coeur, Paris’s iconic basilica. Marvel at the breathtaking church, which overlooks the entire city. After taking in the intricate details of the basilica’s exterior, turn around to find a wide staircase filled with tourists taking in jaw-dropping, panoramic views of Paris. While your guide explains the history of the famous Sacre Coeur, be sure to capture the moment with your camera.

Indulge in a Charcuterie and Cheese Board

After hours of walking up steep hills and steps, it’s time to sit back and relax with the last stop of the day. In classic Parisian fashion, cap off your enchanting tour with an impeccable charcuterie and cheese board. Pair your final tasting with delicious French wine, and cheers with your newfound friends to an unforgettable day in Montmartre!

After this final stop, your tour will come to an end. You’re free to stay and relax as long as you’d like, or perhaps you’d prefer to head back to your favorite site for more exploring.

Great tour!

Nkayis a super guide! This tour of Montmartre is informative and delicious. She gave us so much insight into the area, the artists and development topped off by food that couldn’t be more French: croissants, escargot, macaroons, various cheeses and wines. We were a very small group-just 4- and at the end we felt we had made new friends. I wish you could book a tour based on the guide because we would book with Nkay over and over- perfect tour!!!

Lunch in Paris

If the bohemian essence of Paris is what you’re looking for, Montmartre is the perfect call. This neighborhood, seated on the top of a hill in the 18th arrondissement, offers an escape from the hustle of central Paris. Montmartre’s narrow streets, lined with artists and quaint cafes, create a village-like atmosphere that invites leisurely strolls and quiet contemplation. This unique blend of artistic legacy and modern-day vibrancy makes Montmartre a must-visit destination for those looking to have a nice lunch in Paris.

Walking through Montmartre, one can’t help but feel the influence of the many artists who once called this place home. The neighborhood has long been a haven for creatives, with figures like Picasso and Van Gogh drawing inspiration from its picturesque streets and lively ambiance. Today, Montmartre continues to be a hub for artists, musicians, and performers, adding to its dynamic cultural scene. The area’s iconic landmarks, such as the Sacré-Cœur Basilica, provide stunning views of the city, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed afternoon.

Montmartre’s inviting atmosphere extends beyond its artistic appeal. The neighborhood buzzes with life, offering a mix of traditional and contemporary experiences. Visitors can explore local boutiques, enjoy street performances, or simply relax in one of the many charming cafes. Lunch in Paris

A Glimpse into Montmartre’s History

Montmartre’s history is as rich as its cultural offerings. This neighborhood has been a magnet for artists since the late 19th century, drawing in renowned figures like Picasso, Van Gogh, and Toulouse-Lautrec. These artists were inspired by Montmartre’s vibrant atmosphere and picturesque settings, capturing the spirit of the area in their works. The legacy of these creative minds can still be felt today, with numerous art studios, galleries, and the famous Place du Tertre, where artists display and sell their work.

The origins of Montmartre date back to Roman times, but it truly flourished during the Belle Époque period. During this era, Montmartre was the epicenter of artistic and cultural life in Paris. The area’s cabarets, such as the Moulin Rouge and Le Chat Noir, became legendary spots where artists, writers, and bohemians gathered. These venues not only provided entertainment but also fostered a sense of community and collaboration among the creative minds of the time. This bohemian spirit is still very much alive in Montmartre, making it a unique blend of history and modernity.

For more detailed insights into Montmartre’s history, you can visit Culture Travel’s guide to Montmartre (Culture Travel) .

As Montmartre evolved, so did its culinary scene. Initially, it was a place where artists and locals could find affordable and hearty meals. Over time, Montmartre’s food offerings became more sophisticated, reflecting the area’s growing popularity and diversity. Today, visitors can enjoy a mix of traditional French cuisine and contemporary culinary innovations, all within the historic and charming setting of Montmartre.
