Making your way through Midtown you’ll find the famous Macy’s in Herald Square, used in holiday favorites Miracle on 34th Street and Elf . See the Time-Life Building, featured in Mad Men as the new Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce office. You’ll catch a glimpse of the original “Al’s Soup Kitchen” from Seinfeld and the Bank of America Tower, which plays the role of “Atlantis World Media” from HBO’s The Newsroom . Even enter the world of Marvel’s Daredevil on Eighth Avenue at the 50th street subway stop, where “Foggy” Nelson places a desperate call to a friend in the NYPD.

13. Tour ends: McGee's Pub

The NYC TV & Movie Tour ends at McGee’s Pub, the inspiration for MacLaren’s Pub in How I Met Your Mother , where you’ll have the opportunity to take photos, grab a drink or dine at the spot that inspired the “bromance” between Barney, Ted and Marshall.

A self-guided New York film locations walking tour (with map)

A self-guided New York film locations walking tour (with map)

It was my first trip to New York and everything should’ve felt new. But I couldn’t shake off the feeling that I’d been here before. Walking past Fifth Avenue’s skyscrapers as yellow cabs rushed by, it hit me. I might not have actually been to the Big Apple before, but I’d walked these streets and seen these views in so many movies it almost felt like I had.

Times Square’s neon lights, the view from the top of the Empire State Building, steam rising from subway vents – they were all part of the films I grew up with. Although I’ve been back to New York several times since, I still haven’t shaken off that feeling of excitement I get from seeing these places translated from the screen into real life.

Autumn in Central Park, New York

Whether you’re a rom-com or thriller fan, love black and white films or modern blockbusters, chances are New York will feature in your film history too. And Manhattan has such a high concentration of film locations that it makes for a great walking tour.

So grab your camera and some comfy shoes, and in just under seven miles (or five miles if you use the handy subway short cut) this self-guided New York film locations walking tour will take you in the footsteps of King Kong , Ghostbusters and many more.

A self-guided New York film locations walking tour

The New York Public Library, a New York film location

Start your New York film locations walking tour at the Metropolitan Museum of Art at 1000 Fifth Avenue. The nearest subway station is 86th Street, which is on the route of the 4, 5 and 6 trains. From the station it’s around a 10-minute walk to the museum.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art (aka The Met) is one of the world’s largest art museums, and its main building stretches for a quarter of a mile along Fifth Avenue. There are over two million items in the Met’s collection across 5000 years of history, with everything from ancient Greek sculptures to artworks by Monet, Van Gogh and Picasso.

On screen, the Met is where Pierce Brosnan steals a Monet painting in the 1999 remake of The Thomas Crown Affair. Well the exterior scenes are at least – the Met didn’t want to be associated with a robbery, even a fictional one, so didn’t allow filming inside.

Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan take a wander around the Temple of Dendur in the Met’s Egyptian Room in When Harry Met Sally (1989). The temple also featured in Ocean’s 8 (2018), the third Ocean’s Eleven spin-off. The production team recreated the museum’s Met Gala – an annual celebrity-filled fundraiser – as the scene for a diamond heist.

New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art

From the Met, follow Fifth Avenue south along the edge of Central Park (1.2 miles) until you reach the end of the park where you’ll see the Plaza Hotel on your right.

The Plaza Hotel

The Plaza Hotel * opened in 1907 and gets its name from the Grand Army Plaza which it’s located on. It stretches over 21 floors and was built to look like a French Renaissance château. It’s one of the city’s most luxurious – and expensive – hotels, and a stay in its lavish Royal Plaza Suite will set you back an eye-watering $40,000 a night.

Over the years the Plaza has featured in plenty of films, including Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992). Macaulay Culkin’s uses his dad’s credit card to stay there when he gets on the wrong plane and ends up in New York instead of Florida. It’s also been a location for North By Northwest , Crocodile Dundee , The Great Gatsby and Bride Wars .

The Plaza Hotel in New York

Leave the Plaza and carry on walking down Fifth Avenue for a few minutes and you’ll see Tiffany & Co’s flagship store on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street.

Tiffany’s

With its polished marble exterior and sparkling window displays, Tiffany’s is one of the world’s best-known jewellery stores (who hasn’t coveted one of their turquoise boxes?). It became part of movie history in 1961 when Audrey Hepburn stepped out of a cab and stood looking through the shop’s window in the opening scenes of Breakfast at Tiffany’s .

You can have breakfast at Tiffany’s yourself at the Blue Box Café (reopening in 2023 after refurbishment). It’s decorated in their signature turquoise colour and serves smoked salmon bagels and buttermilk waffles – though book well in advance.

Tiffany’s is also where Patrick Dempsey asks Reese Witherspoon to marry him in Sweet Home Alabama (2002), which prompted a flurry of proposals in the store ever since. And if you want a turquoise box for yourself and don’t quite have a diamond-sized budget, you can get a more budget-friendly silver Tiffany chain for around $95.

Breakfast at Tiffany's film location, New York

Keep walking south down Fifth Avenue until you get to 51st Street, then take a right turn and walk one block to 6th Avenue (0.5 miles) and the Radio City Music Hall.

Radio City Music Hall

The Art Deco Radio City Music Hall * is part of the Rockefeller Center. It was the largest indoor theater in the world when it was built in the 1930s and has had over 300 million visitors since then. The main stage is the length of a city block and the theatre’s Rockettes dance troupe have been high-kicking their way across it for the last 90 years.

As well as being a filming location for several game shows, Radio City appears in The Godfather (1972) – Michael Corleone and his wife are watching a show when they hear Don Corleone has been shot. It was also shown in 1982’s Annie and Home Alone 2 .

Radio City Music Hall in New York

Next continue south down 6th Avenue, then turn right along 45th Street and walk for one block to 7th Avenue and Times Square (0.5 miles).

Times Square

Over 330,000 people normally pass through bustling Times Square each day, making it one of the world’s most visited tourist destinations. But in the Tom Cruise film Vanilla Sky (2001), Times Square is completely deserted after the production team got special permission to empty it of people and cars for three hours early one Sunday.

Will Smith also goes hunting in an abandoned Times Square in the post-apocalyptic I Am Legend (2007). It was destroyed by a giant wave in Deep Impact (1998). And is the site of a fight between Spiderman and Electra in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014). Times Square also appeared in classic films Midnight Cowboy (1969) and Taxi Driver (1976).

Colourful lights in Times Square New York

Then head south down 7th Avenue. Turn left when you reach 43rd Street and follow it for three blocks to Park Avenue where you’ll find Grand Central Terminal (0.5 miles).

Grand Central Terminal

Grand Central Terminal was built in 1913 and is a US National Historic Landmark, as well as still being one of the city’s busiest transport hubs. The station exterior and Park Avenue Viaduct were the site of the Battle of New York in 2012’s The Avengers .

The main concourse was used for a flash mob scene at the end of the Justin Timberlake film Friends With Benefits (2011). Look up to see its beautifully detailed astronomical ceiling – though keen astronomers might notice the star map isn’t totally accurate.

Below the concourse is the Oyster Bar where George Clooney has lunch with his daughter in One Fine Day (1996). And Will Smith’s been to Grand Central twice – to film exterior shots for I Am Legend and discover aliens in the locker room in Men in Black (1997).

Inside Grand Central Station, New York

Outside the station, head west along 42nd Street for two blocks to the New York Public Library’s Schwarzman Building (0.3 miles).

New York Public Library

With its marble walls, grand staircases, chandeliers and ceiling fescoes, the New York Public Library is one of my favourite New York buildings. On screen it stood in for the foyer of The Met in The Thomas Crown Affair (1999). But it’s probably best known as the place where the Ghostbusters hunted down the ghost of librarian Eleanor Twitty (1984).

The library’s beautiful Rose Reading Room is two blocks longs long and 15 metres high, with a gilded ceiling painted with clouds. It appears in The Day After Tomorrow (2004), where survivors of the new Ice Age burn the library’s books to keep warm.

And Carrie Bradshaw chose the library as the venue for her wedding to Mr Big in Sex and the City: The Movie (2008) because it was “the classic New York landmark that housed all the great love stories” (though it didn’t quite work out for her).

The Rose Reading Room in the New York Public Library

Exit the library onto Fifth Avenue and walk south for seven blocks until you reach the Empire State Building (0.4 miles) at 20 West 34th Street.

Empire State Building

The 103-storey Art Deco Empire State Building * has to be one of New York’s most iconic buildings. And the first time many of us ever saw it was on screen with a giant gorilla swinging around the top of it in the original 1933 monster film King Kong .

Since then it’s been used in over 250 films and TV shows, including Superman II (1980), where Christopher Reeve’s Superman catches the tower’s antenna before it falls. And its interiors were used as Buddy’s father’s offices in the 2003 festive film Elf .

The Empire State Building was also used in romantic favourite An Affair to Remember (1957). Cary Grant asks Deborah Kay to meet him at the top of the Empire State Building, but she’s hit by a car on the way there and doesn’t make it.

An Affair to Remember is Meg Ryan’s character Annie’s favourite film in Sleepless in Seattle (1993). So the Empire State Building’s observation deck is where she finally meets up with Tom Hanks’ character Sam and his son at the end of the film.

The Empire State Building at night, a New York film location

The next hop is a bit bigger, so you can also catch the subway if you don’t want to walk (take lines B/D/F/M from 34th Street to 2nd Avenue). Otherwise head down Fifth Avenue then take Broadway south through Union Square before going left on East Houston Street to Katz’s Deli, on the southwest corner of Houston and Ludlow Streets (2.2 miles).

Katz’s Deli

Katz’s Deli on the Lower East Side was founded in 1888 and is known for its giant pastrami on rye sandwiches. It got its big screen break in When Harry Met Sally (1989), as the place where Meg Ryan faked an orgasm over lunch with Billy Crystal. You can sit in her spot under a sign saying “Where Harry met Sally… hope you have what she had!”

The deli also appears in fantasy film Enchanted (2007) and is where Johnny Depp’s character meets with an FBI contact in Donnie Brasco (1997).

Scene from Where Harry Met Sally at Katz's Deli, New York

Next head back along Houston Street as far as West Broadway and then follow that south until you reach 14 North Moore Street (1.4 miles).

FDNY Ladder 8

Finish your New York film locations walking tour at the New York City Fire Department’s Hook and Ladder 8 firehouse. It was built in 1903 and has been a working fire station for more than a century. But you might know it better as the base for the Ghostbusters as it featured in both the 1984 original film and the 2016 remake.

Well the outside of the building did at least – a lot of the interiors were actually shot in the studio in LA. But the Ghostbusters logo from the film hangs outside the station after a crowdfunding campaign raised money to build one. The station also appeared in the 2005 film Hitch and episodes of TV show Seinfeld and How I Met Your Mother .

From the station it’s a few minutes’ walk to Franklin Street or Canal Street subway stations. Or you’re surrounded by Tribeca’s bars and cafés if you fancy a post-tour drink.

Hook and Ladder 8, the Ghostbusters fire station in New York

Or the shorter route with the subway short cut between the Empire State Building and Katz’s Deli is 5 miles/8km in total with 1 hour 40 minutes of walking.

David Gilmour shreds on guitar.

You won’t need to travel to “The Dark Side of the Moon” to see David Gilmour live in 2024.

It won’t hurt if you’re in New York or Los Angeles, though.

The long-time Pink Floyd member and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has ten concerts lined up this fall in just three cities as part of his ‘Luck and Strange Tour’ in support of his upcoming album with the same name.

A whopping five (!) of those ten Gilmour gigs will be in New York City when he takes on a short residency at Madison Square Garden from Nov. 4-10.

At all shows, fans can expect the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer to deliver cuts from the new record as well as more obscure Pink Floyd tracks that might not normally make the set list.

“Yeah, that might be better represented,” he told Uncut Magazine, according to Jambands.com . “I mean, at least one from the 60s. The one we’ve done in the past is ‘Astronomy’ [“Astronomy Domine,” track one from 1967 debut ‘The Piper at the Gates of Dawn’]. That’s always entertaining and fun and gets people off to a happy start. There’s songs from the ‘[A] Momentary Lapse of Reason’ and ‘The Division Bell’ albums. I mean, I think ‘High Hopes’ is as good as anything we ever did at any time.”

If this sounds like your dream classic rock deep dive, tickets are available for all shows as soon as today.

Some are quite affordable, too.

At the time of publication, ticket prices start at $66 before fees on Vivid Seats.

His New York shows have seats starting anywhere from $102 to $196 before fees depending on the gig.

Curious how much tickets cost for the Gilmour gig of your choosing?

We’re here to help.

Our team has everything you need to know and more about David Gilmour’s 2024 ‘Luck and Strange Tour’ below.

All prices listed above are subject to flucutation.

David Gilmour tour schedule 2024

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues and links to buy tickets can be found below.

(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are in US dollars, subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

David Gilmour set list

The last full concert Gilmour performed was back in September 2016 at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Here’s what he took to the stage that evening, according to  Set List FM :

01.) “5 A.M.” 02.) “Rattle That Lock” 03.) “Faces of Stone” 04.) “What Do You Want From Me” (Pink Floyd song) 05.) “The Blue” 06.) “The Great Gig in the Sky” (Pink Floyd song) 07.) “A Boat Lies Waiting” 08.) “Wish You Were Here” (Pink Floyd song) 09.) “Money” (Pink Floyd song) 10.) “In Any Tongue” 11.) “High Hopes” (Pink Floyd song) Set II

12.) “One of These Days” (Pink Floyd song) 13.) “Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-V)” (Pink Floyd song) 14.) “Fat Old Sun” (Pink Floyd song) 15.) “Coming Back to Life” (Pink Floyd song) 16.) “On an Island” 17.) “The Girl in the Yellow Dress” 18.) “Today” 19.) “Sorrow” (Pink Floyd song) 20.) “Run Like Hell” (Pink Floyd song) Encore

21.) “Time” (Pink Floyd song) 22.) “Breathe (Reprise)” (Pink Floyd song) 23.) “Comfortably Numb” (Pink Floyd song)

David Gilmour new album

Gilmour’s new album “Luck and Strange” is due out Sept. 6.

Prior to the record’s release, he dropped three singles; the gentle, rockin’ “The Piper’s Call,” the foreboding, haunting “Zero Hour” with Michael Berkeley and Neil Tennant and the introspective ballad “Between Two Points” featuring his daughter Romany Gilmour on vocals.

You can listen to the trio of tracks  here .

David Gilmour band members

According to a press release, here’s who will be performing with Gilmour this year:

Guy Pratt   bass and background vocals

Greg Phillinganes   keyboards

Rob Gentry   keyboards

Adam Betts   drums

Ben Worsley   guitar

Louise Marshall   background vocals

Hattie Webb   background vocals

Charlie Webb   background vocals

In regards to this troupe, Gilmour said he mixed things up because “it was all too robotic, and some people would have been better off in a Pink Floyd tribute band,” and wanted to “get people who are genuinely creative and give them a little more space.”

Classic rockers on tour in 2024

Gilmour isn’t your only rock hero from yesterday on the road this year.

Here are just five more of our favorites that just may be coming to a venue near you these next few months.

•  Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band

•  Robert Plant with Alison Krauss

•  Peter Frampton

MSNBC will draw on its talent roster of hosts and contributors for a daylong event in September, MSNBC Live : Democracy 2024 , seeking to capitalize on its viewer fanbase desire to see network personalities live and in person.

The daylong Sept. 7 event at the Brooklyn Academy of Music will include discussions among the hosts and a dinner and a reception, along with a screening of an MSNBC film. Ticket prices will start at $119, the network said, with audience capacity of 2,000. The plans are to keep the September event in person only — no live streaming.

The event will not only provide the in-person experience but longer conversations than are possible during telecasts, Russert said. When on book tour for Look for Me There: Grieving My Father, Finding Myself , Russert said that he witnessed first hand how much audiences valued “a degree of intimacy” that comes from in-person connections. That may be especially true since the Covid pandemic, as many live events series have rebounded.

The first session will feature Jen Psaki, Chris Hayes, Alex Wagner, Andrea Mitchell, Katy Tur and others with a look at the 2024 presidential race and major issues in the campaign. Steve Kornacki will break down the latest polls.

The second session will feature Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O’Donnell, Ari Melber, Stephanie Ruhle, Michael Steele, Alicia Menendez, Symone Sanders Townsend and others with their own discussion on the election year races.

The day also will include a dinner and reception — called This Is Who We Are — for 230 guests. There also will be a screening of a yet-to-be announced MSNBC film ahead of its theatrical debut.

MSNBC created the MSNBC Live event series in December, and held its first in-person event in March in Washington, with Psaki, Kornacki and Ruhle previewing the primary and President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address. That was a bit of a trial run for the larger event in September.

A number of media brands have turned to live events as a new revenue source. The Atlantic has long held an annual festival in the fall, and the New Yorker holds an annual festival in Manhattan each October.

Visit other landmarks in the park such as Bow Bridge, Wollman Rink, Gapstow Bridge, The Dairy, Sheep’s Meadow, and Cherry Hill, and see the skyline of the Upper West Side.

As you are traveling through Central Park on our guided sightseeing tour, you will see the stone Gapstow Bridge which is featured in  Home Alone 2 . From the bridge you will be able to see the famous 19-story Plaza Hotel, which has been featured in several films including  The Way We Were, Barefoot in the Park, Brewster’s Millions, It Could Happen To You, Big Business, Crocodile Dundee, Almost Famous, King of New York  and many more.

Next, you will be traveling to the Wollman Skating Rink, one of the two ice skating rinks located in the park. This rink was featured in Serendipity, Home Alone 2, Stepmom, The January Man  and  Love Story .

The Mall, also known as the Promenade, is the next thing you will be walking through on this guided sightseeing tour. You will definitely be able to tell why this area is so popular for socializing and relaxing. Movies such as Serendipity, Vanilla Sky, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Big Daddy  and  Kramer vs. Kramer  all had scenes that were featured in the Promenade.

After a stroll through the Promenade, you will spot the Bethesda Terrace, with the famous Bethesda Fountain located in the middle. As you are making your way through the crowd of people relaxing here you will be in the location where films such as  Ransom, Godspell, Home Alone 2, Green Card, It Could Happen to You, Deconstructing Harry, Out of Towners, Prisoner of Second Avenue  and  Stuart Little II  were filmed.

The Bethesda Terrace is also the final location for the big musical number, “That’s How You Know,” from Enchanted.

Take a look at the huge 22-acre lake which is Central Park’s largest body of water, not including the Reservoir. On a warm day, people will be participating in all kinds of water activities such as row boating. The Manchurian Candidate  was featured at this famous lake.

Although you won’t have enough time to eat at the Boathouse Restaurant on the walking tour you can surely stop and grab something to eat afterward. This is the restaurant featured in films such as When Harry Met Sally, Sex and the City  and  Little Manhattan .

At this point in the walking tour you will be situated mid-park at 74th street and making your way to the Bow Bridge. This cast-iron bridge was featured in films such as Autumn in New York, Keeping the Faith, Little Manhattan, The Way We Were  and   Woody Allen’s  Manhattan .

The bridge stretches over the lake and leads you right to Cherry Hill. Here you will notice beautiful cherry trees in the springtime and feel as if you were part of the scene where films such as  The Mirror has Two Faces, Big Daddy, Cruel Intentions and Little Manhattan .

Once you have toured Cherry Hill, our tour guides will take you to the cultural landmark, the Bandshell, featured in  Breakfast at Tiffany’s, I’m Not Rappaport, Mighty Aphrodite, and  Hair . You can stand where Martin Luther King and plenty of musicians stood to make speeches or conduct performances at this location.

Next, our tour will take you through Strawberry Fields. This area was dedicated to John Lennon in 1985 after his death in 1980. John Lennon’s death affected thousands of people and this small area in Central Park located on the west side between 71st and 74th street serves as a tribute to his life and music. This location was also featured in Little Manhattan.

The next stop on the Central Park TV & Movie Sites Tour is Sheep’s Meadow, a location featured in Wall Street, It Could Happen to You, The Fisher King, Antz,  and  Little Manhattan.  Although there are no longer any sheep here you will be passing by hundreds of people who relax, sunbathe, and play frisbee in this wonderful park.

From this location, you will be able to see The Dakota, which made its debut in Rosemary’s Baby and Vanilla Sky (and is also the site of John Lennon’s shooting) .  As you are approaching the end of the guided tour you will reach Tavern on the Green. This famous restaurant appeared in  Ghostbusters, New York Stories, Wall Street, Made  and  The Out of Towners .

The tour will end at Columbus Circle, where Taxi Driver, Keeping the Faith, Ghostbusters, Borat, Enchanted and  Crocodile Dundee  were shot.

Wrongly accused facialist accuses elizabeth banks, studio ifc films of ripping off her life story.

Dawn DaLuise

A woman tells Page Six that “Hunger Games” star Elizabeth Banks and a Hollywood movie studio have ripped off her life story — and may be putting her in grave danger by doing so. Now she says she plans to sue.

Beverly Hills “facialist to the stars,” Dawn DaLuise, was arrested in 2014 on suspicion of ordering a hit against a rival beauty guru and spent ten months in prison before being found not guilty of the charges.

She has previously claimed in court papers that two alleged stalkers — “Bling Ring’ leader Nick Prugo and Edward Feinstein — set her up for the arrest.

Elizabeth Banks

But on Wednesday DaLuise was stunned to see a trailer for “Skincare” — a drama that DaLuise says is clearly based on her story — with Banks starring as Hope Goldman, a Beverly Hills facialist who is plunged into a deadly ordeal involving a rival beauty guru. It was the first she’d heard of the flick.

DaLuise tells us that she has been working with a production company to sell the story for some time, and was on the way to signing a deal with Netflix for a documentary, and she fears the Banks movie may scupper the project.

“It could rob me of my ability to tell my own story,” she told us.

Dawn DaLuise

But her bigger fear is how “Skincare” may affect her life. Prugo and Feinstein pleaded guilty to one count of misdemeanor stalking against her , and were sentenced to community service in 2016. And DaLuise says that she has felt safest when she’s been able to use the media to “expose” them.

“The media are my minder and my bodyguard,” DaLuise said, adding that — while she would use her own project to cast a light on the duo’s alleged activities — it’s not clear from the trailer that “Skincare” will name Prugo and Feinstein or even explain their role in the case.

Dawn DaLuise

DaLuise says that since the trailer appeared, she’s been talking to lawyers about her options for going after the filmmakers.

Reps for the studio, IFC Films, and Banks didn’t get back to us.

This article has been updated to clarify the outcome of the criminal proceedings against Prugo and Feinstein .
