The Travel Section oversees payment of travel advances and the payments and collections resulting from submitted and approved travel claims and the payments arising from employee relocation expenses.  The Travel Section also pays the accounts against which transportation tickets for the staff, patients, and visitors are charged as well as disburse the funds to travel, other miscellaneous payments, and handles all receipts requiring deposits to one of the NIH's accounts at the US Treasury. The Travel Section participates in the formulation of travel policy for the agency.

From a U.S. vantage point, it is incredibly easy to confuse “ globalization ” with “ Americanization “, when it comes to worker safety and health.   The misinterpretation can lead to disaster.   Compliance, access to care, and medical standards vary tremendously.

Russell Haworth

UKI Group CEO, Byggfakta Group UK

Russell is the UKI Group CEO, which includes NBS, Glenigan and CIS. His role is to set the strategy and lead the Group to grow by a combination of organic investments and acquisitions. He has been in the data, information, and technology market for two decades, and has written a book with Forbes on Digital Transformation. Outside of work, he enjoys biking and golf, and spends most weekends doing neither, as he’s also quite handy at driving his two young sons to sports matches.

Helen Frame

UKI Group Director of Product, Byggfakta Group UK

Helen’s role is to ensure product strategy and roadmaps are aligned to business objectives. She led on the commercialisation of transitioning NBS offerings to the SaaS propositions, NBS Chorus and Source. Previously, Helen spent 12 years at Sage managing product portfolios, across multiple routes to market, with revenue responsibilities of over £20m. Outside of work, Helen loves to put on her trainers and go for a run, as well as spend quality time with her family.

Charlie Jones

UKI Group, Technology Director, Byggfakta Group UK

Charlie oversees product technology for the companies in the Byggfakta UK group and is responsible for their development and delivery. He has over 25 years’ experience to deliver large scale Internet products and services. Since joining NBS in 2016 he led the development of our new generation of SaaS products NBS Chorus and Source. Outside work Charlie loves to travel to far flung parts of the world and get as far off-grid as possible.

Dr Stephen Hamil

Innovation Director

Stephen first started working on NBS products in 1999 and has worked on all the major NBS software developments. He was project lead for the UK Government’s digital plan of work and classification ‘pillar’ of the level-2 BIM framework. He has also worked on European and British Standards committees and contributed to UK Building Regulation developments. Outside work Stephen is a keen runner competing at club level in races from 1500m up to marathons.

Director of Software Delivery

Phil leads the teams building our software platforms. He is an expert in QA and is passionate about creating and providing customers with high-quality services. He’s been at NBS for over 10 years and has been involved in almost every major initiative. He also forms part of the Cloud Leadership Committee at Tech UK where he provides strategic input to UK cloud computing initiatives. A keen hiker he has just completed Annapurna & Machu Picchu trails.

Neil Thompson

Commercial Director - Product, Byggfakta Group UK

Neil leads the Sales and Customer Support Teams within the Supplier Division. He started his career on ICI’s Commercial Graduate Scheme and has held Senior Sales, Marketing and Product Management positions predominantly in the construction sector, more recently as Sales & Marketing Director at Constructionline. He holds an MBA and a CIM Diploma in Marketing. Neil is passionate about sport, is a former county cricketer and now coaches on a voluntary basis.

NBC TRAVEL TEAMS - NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR 2023 SEASON!

NBC Travel Teams are an extension program of NBC Camps and allow NBC athletes to tour the world while playing the game they love. NBC Travel Teams challenge athletes to experience new cultures, fellowship with international peers, and widen their global perspective. Travel Team athletes have a desire to grow on and off the court, becoming the best they can be. Teams explore and sightsee during the day and play games against the local competition in the evenings.

NBC Camps are now accepting applications for athletes for 2023 Travel Teams. Athletes will be selected based on their previous demonstration of strong moral character, servant leadership, and their skills on the court. NBC coaches evaluate athletes during their time at NBC summer camps and athlete nominations are sent to the NBC Central Office. Invitations to apply for the tour are sent out via these nominations at the end of the summer/early fall. If you did not attend an NBC camp but are interested in applying for an NBC Travel Team, please email Breanna Lyons, Travel Team Director, at [email protected] directly.

There are two phases of the application process:

Phase 1: application paperwork.

• 2023 Athlete Application
• 2 Confidential Reference Forms (one from a teacher/mentor, another from your coach)
• Parent/Guardian Recommendation Form
• The deposit can be made online ( www.nbccamps.com/international )
• Your deposit will be refunded to you if your athlete is not chosen for a 2023 Travel Team.

PHASE 2: Application Interview

• Arrange a video/Skype interview with the NBC Travel Team Director. The NBC Travel Team Committee will meet to review all applications at the end of athlete interviews. The committee will then select athletes for 2023 Travel Teams and contact all athletes with their results.

The locations and number of 2023 teams will depend on the careful selection of athletes by the travel team committee. Destinations for 2023 include the United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy. Athletes will be able to express which location they would most like to travel to during their interview.

NBA Finals odds: Celtics favored to win Game 1, but money is rolling in on the Mavericks

LAS VEGAS — The Celtics are prohibitive favorites to win Thursday’s Game 1 of the NBA Finals  and odds are on Boston to hoist what would be its record 18th championship banner.

But the money, at least at  BetMGM Sportsbook , is pouring in on the Dallas Mavericks .

Senior trader Halvor Egeland said Monday that 80% of the bets were coming on Luka Doncic , Kyrie Irving and the Mavs to win their second NBA title. Boston is a -225 favorite to win it all, meaning someone would need to wager $225 to win $100.

As for the series opener, the Celtics are 6 1/2-point favorites, but 63% of the money has been on the Mavericks to cover the spread. Dallas is receiving 70% of the bets to win the game outright at +200.

“Pretty much, the public is just believing in the Mavericks,” Egeland said.

Despite that, the Celtics’ odds have remained consistently solid not only at BetMGM but other sportsbooks as well. Even though Egeland said professional bettors are largely sitting out this series because they don’t find much betting value, he said he didn’t expect the lines to be significantly affected.

“We feel it’s the correct betting line,” Egeland said. “If we were trading strictly off money, we would’ve moved it towards the Mavericks because it’s all Mavericks money. But we’re trying to get to a point where we’re at like an equilibrium — half the time (betting is) going to be on one side, half the time it’s going to go on the other. We’ve landed at 6 1/2 and that’s the strategy you take.”

Egeland said there’s a reason the Celtics are favored.

“The Celtics had an 82-game season and they’ve been the best team all year,” he said. “I know they haven’t had the toughest competition to get to the Finals, but like I said, they’ve had 82 games to prove themselves, and they’ve done nothing but show you that they’re that good of a team.”

THE PORZINGIS FACTOR: Part of the reason for the opening-game spread, Egeland said, is the  expected return of Boston’s Kristaps Porzingis . He hasn’t played since straining his left calf in Game 4 of the opening round against the Miami Heat.

Porzingis not only would give the Celtics size if he is back, but the 7-footer is an effective 3-point shooter, creating a difficult matchup for the Mavs. He averaged 20.1 points and 7.2 rebounds during the regular season.

Egeland said if the Celtics have to sit Porzingis yet again, they likely would drop to 4 1/2- or 5-point favorites.

“The team’s been pretty good without him,” DraftKings sportsbook operations director Johnny Avello said. “So with him, it makes them even that much better. Will he be able to get back into the mix kind of quickly? I think so. This series could be a seven-game series, so any bodies you can get in there and contribute, they are welcome for both sides.”

RUST VS. REST: Both teams have received extended time off to prepare for this series after the Celtics swept the Indiana Pacers and the Mavericks eliminated the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games .

“I would say the Mavs had it a little bit harder than the Celts did, so maybe (the layoff) would affect the Celtics more since they didn’t get pushed much,” Avello said. “The Mavs’ 4-1 (series victory) wasn’t really reflective of how that series went, although you consider the Celtics, too. They could’ve lost an early game (to Indiana). It certainly would’ve changed the complexion of that series.”

Egeland said the extra prep time should especially benefit Porzingis, but also noted that Doncic has been playing on a gimpy knee and ankle.

M-V-P!: Jayson Tatum is a -120 favorite to be the Finals MVP at BetMGM, but Doncic is close behind at +200. DraftKings has Doncic at -205 and Tatum at +280, nearly a complete flip from late last week.

“He’s taking more money,” Avello said of Doncic before the odds changed.

HOW LONG CAN IT GO?: The odds at BetMGM favor the series ending in anywhere between five and seven games, with the odds ranging from +200 to +225. A sweep is at +450.

DraftKings is even more bullish on a long series, posting the chances of it going six or seven games at -150 compared to +125 to be shorter.
