“Loved the jungle noises and the lion's roaring in the morning.”

The best feature is the proximity to the jungle safari on the other side of a chain link fence. We drove our toad through the safari park and were very impressed with the up-close-and-personal view of We camped at West Palm Beach / Lion Country Safari KOA Journey in a Motorhome.

The Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge is a 25 minute drive and the visitor's center was a real treat. Lots of good info on this northern border of the Florida Everglades. Take the .4 mile boardwalk tour through the cypress swamp for a beautiful short hike....

Perfect for a short stay to explore the Lion Country Safari and to go shopping and eating out. Park is very clean just not updated like some of the other KOAs but perfect for its purpose here. We camped at West Palm Beach / Lion Country Safari KOA Journey in a Fifth Wheel.

Unusually empty during our stay. Sites are very close together so happy to have the open space. Fun to listen to the lions and monkeys. Nice heated pool. We camped at West Palm Beach / Lion Country Safari KOA Journey in a Motorhome.

Our Jeep has a partial soft top and they wouldnt let us enter Safari even with it closed. Had to rent a van from them for $35 for 90 minutes. That wasnt clear on their website. Get Safari discount tickets at KOA office. There is a nice adventure and water park thats part of the attraction....

We didnt have a car with us so we walked next door to Lion Country Safari rented a van for $35 and had a great time. I suggest going early to avoid the crowds. If you have kids, they have a water park at Lion Country Safari so bring their swim clothes. And buy your tickets at the camp office for discount....

FLORIDA IS OPEN AND CONTINUES TO BE THE BEST PLACE TO CAMP.

Hurricane Ian was a devastating storm and caused major flooding and severe damage along the coastal areas of Ft. Myers Beach, Captive and Sanibel Island and Estero Bay and Bonita Springs. Some RV parks received extensive damage and will be closed for an extended period of time. Our thoughts and prayers go out to these park owners, their staff, and their guests who’s lives and businesses have been temporarily devastated by this storm. We wish them the best as they rebuild.

Fortunately most of the parks in the SW Florida have re-opened and have power. Florida is a very large state with over 800 RV parks, and SW Florida has more RV parks than any other area of the state. Rest assured Florida is open for visitors and welcoming all RVers and campers.

Please continue to travel and camp in Florida. Whether you are wanting to camp now, or are waiting for the Snow Bird Season to start, you will be happy you picked Florida. You can find your perfect RV site right here on www.campflorida.com. If you have any questions, or would like assistance, you can call the Camp Florida office at 850-562-7151. Thank you, we appreciate you choosing Florida as your vacation and RV park destination.

NOTE: If you are planning a trip to SW Florida is advisable to reach out to RV parks to check on their status and site availability, and be sure to make reservations in advance.

It's well-manicured, amenities are well-maintained, and it looks to me like they have a crew of 10 helping keep the outside looking good and the office always going smoothly. For pricing, it was $1144.00 for the month, plus $220.00 for the extra 2 people. We are a family of 4. Also, if you show up after 10pm, plan to sleep outside of the park. The gate is locked and you cannot get in without a key card. I know some places let you stay in a staging area after hours, but at this facility you have no where to go and will not even be able to turn around if you are at the gate due to the narrow road to the park. The WiFi is some of the best you will find in an RV park. Kids can play Xbox, we can watch TV without issue for the most part. The office is always helpful, receiving our constant Amazon packages without any pushback. Here's the issue: If you are not careful, the site you get may be right up against another RV. I am in 122, which is at the end of a row, which is great. The RV next to me has a not-so-great spot as they are right now eating their breakfast at their KOA-supplied picnic table only 5 feet away from my sewer. That would be a huge bummer. I have attached a photo, which will clearly show you the distance. As of now, I only go out there to dump at night out of respect for them. You have been warned.

We got to this campground late in the afternoon. It's located off of busy Southern Blvd. in West Palm Beach, adjacent to Lion Country Safari. It's has a country feel and is very quiet except for the air traffic from the Palm Beach Airport, not too far away. Our site was nice and clean and there is a cement patio with a picnic table on it. We are not too close to our neighbors. I haven't had a chance to see the rest of the grounds, but I did see a lot of people walking their doggies! There aren't too many campgrounds in this area and tomorrow we have an appointment in Delray and this is about 30 minutes away. We called to see if they sold firewood, but they only allow Duraflame here. So we stopped and bought some at Publix on the way here. It's so nice to spend the night out this time of the year! We love supporting our local community businesses wherever we go!

Great place to take your kids. With the addition of a Safari park at the end of the drive through zoo, kids really enjoy the water park and slides. If you like camping, check out the Lion Country KOA. Awesome folks and lots to do.

We had a great visit at Lion Country KOA and will definitely be back again! The lions roaring in the evening and morning is amazing and just such a treat! We could hear monkeys and birds as well, it was like staying SAFELY in the park! We also visited the park and were amazed by how happy and healthy all of the animals were. They were relaxed yet active and curious yet cautious, perfect balance! The KOA is clean, staff very friendly and spots big enough to stretch out a bit in. The concrete patio is always nice, keeps the dust and dirt down in the motorhome! We didn't use the laundry room but noticed it was very clean with all machines working, that's a plus! The pool is perfectly heated and very clean as well. Lion Country KOA is surely one of our favorites!

Nice spacious spots to stretch out a bit!

Highly disappointed! Hardly see any wild life except ostriches and zebras!!! That's it !!! Little water park is nice but I didn't go to water park

Photo of Kelli L.

Great campground!! You can hear the chimpanzees in the morning and the Lions roaring throughout the day. The staff is so nice and the grounds are well kept and clean! My only complaints are the shower and bathroom building doesn't have AC, so summer showers aren't as refreshing after you get out! The other issue is standing water at some of the sites after rain. But they are working on that. I'll definitely stay again!

Photo of Telly X.

Wonderful location. There is nothing like hearing those lions! So special. The facilities are clean, the pool is heated in the winter. The staff are all very welcoming.

Photo of Vivienne D.

Great campsites, clean bathrooms, and showers! The campground is set up well and close to a grocery store and a few restaurants. The safari is so cool! You can hear the lions roar at night and sometimes in the morning too. Great experience!

Photo of Karine L.

My parents are snowbirds and they have been staying at this campground for many years now. They love it, it's a clean resort, wit great service and also good people. they have lots and good entertainment, lots of activities planned during the winter months and also have so many outdoor activities settings ready to just enjoy your experience at the camping like shuffleboard, bocce ball courts, pool, etc. I love visiting them there every year. You get to hear the lion at night, crazy cool!

Fun camping experience. Clean facility and great staff. You can hear the monkeys playing and the lions roaring. Height recommend

T here’s something special about exploring new places in an RV. Make your journey through Florida easier with this guide detailing 12 of the best RV parks in Florida.

12 Best RV Parks in Florida

1. st. george island state park.

Reservation fees are reasonable here, starting with a $24 per night plus tax rate, along with a non-refundable $6.70 reservation fee and a $7 nightly utility fee.

Aside from the beach and wonders of St. George State Park, be sure to check out the St. George Island Lighthouse or enjoy one of the popular fishing charters in the area.

And after a long day in the sun, there’s no better nightcap than a delicious dessert from Aunt Ebby’s Ice Cream, one of the most popular eateries on the island. Their portions are generous, and the waffle cone is to die for!

2. Travel World RV Park

And when you get hungry, don’t look any further than Lenny’s Restaurant. Dive into the full Southern experience with some amazing biscuits and gravy! You’ll likely score a basket of the freshest danishes with the purchase of a breakfast entree.

We can’t recommend  Panama City Beach dolphin tours enough. They are such a fun way to get out on the water and enjoy your family’s company while you soak up the day!

Schooners is a lively beachside eatery that fits the Panama City Beach vibe perfectly. Dive into a fresh and crispy salad or a plate of breaded shrimp in the open-air building, on the patio, or even take your meal to go and savor it on the beach.

6. Bahia Honda State Park

Bahia Honda State Park is one of the great treasures of the Florida Keys. It features 500 acres of beach and offshore island to explore.

Buttonwood, Sandspur, and Bayside are all different campgrounds at this state park. Buttonwood is the primary place for RVs. The gravel sites have electricity and water hook-ups, as well as the standard picnic table and grill. Restrooms and a dump station are also on-site.

This particular park is one of the top destinations for snorkeling in the Keys. Explore the magical world beneath the surface while staying at Bahia Honda State Park RV Park. And miss the thrill of the beachcombing hunt, either!

7. Anastasia State Park

The campground at Anastasia State Park in St. Augustine, Florida, consists of 139 sites. Each site features electricity and water hookups, a picnic table, an in-ground grill, and a fire ring. Maximum RV length is 38 feet. A dump station is available for paying campers.

Bird watchers unite at Anastasia State Park. Enjoy the serene beauty of this part of Florida while also looking out for roseate spoonbills, osprey, eagles, and warblers throughout the hammock forests!

Salt Life Food Shack is a tasty and popular place to grab a bite to eat near Anastasia State Park.

8. Juniper Springs National Recreation Area

Juniper Springs National Recreation Area, located in Florida’s Ocala National Forest, boasts 78 sites. This tent camping and RV park is set apart thanks to the unique shading this forest environment offers. That lovely natural feature, paired with the refreshing natural springs just a short walk away, makes this prime RV real estate.

The sites here do not include hook-ups of any kind. But each spot boasts a picnic table, grill, campfire ring, and lantern post. Flush toilets, hot showers, and a dump station are all available on-site.

The beautiful landscape surrounding the camping area is perfect for swimming, canoeing, and hiking. You won’t regret taking the short drive to Silver Springs to enjoy a classic Florida meal at Lena’s Seafood!

Each site offers full RV hook-ups. The property also features restrooms, showers, and a laundry facility.

Entertainment options at this spot are endless. From the pool to the pickleball court, from the fully stocked game room in the clubhouse to complimentary paddleboard and kayak rentals, you don’t even have to leave the park to have a good time.

For those who decide to explore the Tampa Bay area further, consider stops at The Florida Aquarium, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, or ZooTampa. Be sure to check out Puddle Jumpers for a memorable seafood and southern delights experience, including some stunning views of seaplanes from the outdoor patio.

10. Florida Caverns State Park

Some of the most fascinating wonders of nature are found underground. That’s definitely the case at Florida Caverns State Park in Mariana, Florida. The camping area here is 1,500 acres and has 38 sites. Maximum RV length is 32 feet.

Most of the sites feature 30/50-amp electricity, water, and sewer hook-ups. As well as the standard picnic table, grill, and fire ring. Restrooms, showers, and a dump station are also all on-site.

You don’t have to venture far to stay busy when visiting this spot. There’s no better way to enjoy this state park than by taking a guided tour of the underground cave. Visitors of all ages will enjoy the mystifying geological wonders below!

Mashawy is a hidden culinary gem located just outside the park. Not a beachside shack, this spot offers a more fine dining experience. A break from the typically American and seafood fare of this area, this restaurant serves up some of the best Middle Eastern food you’ve ever had! Be sure to try the falafel and gyro!

A dolphin cruise is a fun and unique way to take in the sights and dramatic wildlife here. For travelers looking for more of a city adventure, a quick trip into Pensacola will bring the likes of Langdon Beach as well as other sailing and fishing charters. And Peg Leg Pete’s is a surefire spot to enjoy some oysters and stuffed shrimp! From chicken tenders for the kids to grouper for the grown-ups, you’ll find something for everyone here.
