This white LAMY safari fountain pen comes with a black clip and an interchangeable black steel nib, which can be easily swapped out for another size. It also comes with a blue LAMY ink cartridge so you can get started writing right away.

The LAMY safari is a workhorse pen, known throughout the fountain pen community for its ruggedness, reliability, and no-nonsense functionality. The triangular grip makes it great for those starting out who have no idea how to hold a fountain pen, but it's used and loved by fountain pen lovers of all levels of experience.

If you'd like to use bottled fountain pen ink, you can also add a LAMY Z28 converter separately.

Note: To ensure quality performance, LAMY tests their pens as a final step in manufacturing. If you happen to see any residual blue ink, rest assured that this is normal.

How do i fill a fountain pen with ink 8eda1617-f73a-4daf-8245-6d2bf4abeb7b.

It depends on the pen's filling mechanism, which you can find in the Technical Specs section above. 

Here's a quick definition of the most common filling mechanisms:

• Cartridge - A small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write! Check out our quick guide here .
• Converter - A detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter. Here's a video for how to fill a cartridge/converter pen using a LAMY pen as an example.
• Eyedropper - A pen that utilizes the entire barrel as a reservoir for ink. Ink is directly filled into the barrel, allowing for a high ink capacity. Here's a video on how to do it!
• Piston - A type of filling system that uses a retracting plunger inside a sealed tube to draw ink into a pen. They are typically either twist or push-operated. These pens cannot accept cartridges or a converter, and only fill from bottled ink.
• Vacuum - A push-style piston that uses pressure to fill the large pen body with ink. They seal the ink chamber when closed, making it ideal for flying without risk of leaking. Check out our video on how to use a vac filler here .

It depends on the filling mechanism, but it mostly comes down to flushing it out with water, and sometimes a little bit of Pen Flush if the ink is really stuck. 

It's a bit easier to show than to tell, so we've put together a few quick videos showing you the process:

How often do I need to clean my fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. 

Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.

My pen won’t write! What do I do? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

First things first... make sure you have ink in the pen! Be sure that the ink cartridge or converter is seated properly in the pen, and that you aren't out of ink.

We always recommend you give your pen a good cleaning first, using our Goulet Pen Flush , or a drop of dish soap in some water. New pens often have some machining oil residue left in the feed, so a good cleaning often does the trick first.

If that still doesn't work, try priming the feed. This consists of either dipping your pen nib and feed in ink, or forcing ink from the converter down into the feed.

The Lamy Safari rollerball is made of non-fade white plastic with a black-plated clip. The cap snaps on to close, and will post on the end of the barrel while writing as well.

Lamy safari: the design chameleon.

15 grams, 14 centimetres. One should not allow oneself to be deceived by this slight apparition: The LAMY safari is any thing but a lightweight. In fact, it is the bestselling writing instrument in the world in its category. What lies behind the fascination with the LAMY safari ?

There are few places on earth where it is not to be found. In lecture theatres and architects’ studios, in law firms and offices; in Mumbai and New York, in London and Berlin, from Beijing to Moscow. It is an all-rounder which can be used almost everywhere, for writing as well as designing and drawing. What makes this writing instrument so beloved?

Its unpretentious appearance plays a great part, art director Mike Meiré believes. “The LAMY safari is a chameleon. It is changeable and adapts to different environments, both in terms of function and design.”

The same can be said of its twin, the LAMY AL-star , which is made of aluminium, as well as the transparent LAMY vista .

This versatility is based on the principle of consistent reduction, which Lamy has adopted as a philosophy: The design is resolutely derived from the function and forgoes superfluous details. “We not only ask: What looks good?, but above all: What improves the product?”, explains Marco Achenbach, responsible for product management and development at Lamy.

Perfect for frequent writers: the LAMY safari with its ergonomic recessed grip

So it is that everything that makes the LAMY safari unmistakable is also critical for its functionality. The sturdy clip, with which the LAMY safari can be attached to a notebook or shirt pocket; the grip with its distinct recesses. “They ensure that one’s fingers do not cramp up”, says Achenbach. “That is why the LAMY safari is ideal for people who write a lot.”

The ink window, which allows the user to see how as is the shape of the body. This is not quite round, but rather flattened at the sides, so that it does not roll off the desk. The nib can easily be replaced and is available in different widths. This also makes the fountain pen particularly popular in Asia, as the fine nibs are suitable for intricate characters.

The clip is the hallmark of the LAMY safari .

The model LAMY joy was specially developed for calligraphy: fitted with the same grip as the LAMY safari , but with a long, conically tapered shaft and three calligraphy nibs, which can also be easily replaced. And the material? ABS, a plastic which is known for its resilience and impact resistance in the case of the LAMY safari , and aluminium in the case of the LAMY AL-star , which can also withstand a great deal and is particularly light besides.

Thanks to this robustness, they can be taken anywhere – for example on a tour of the world, as in the case of illustrator Alicia Aradilla. She has been travelling around the world since 2017 and records the places she visits with ink and water colours. The Wat Pho Temple in Bangkok, the Water Palace Jal Mahal in India, the deep blue sea in the Philippines. Always at hand: her yellow LAMY safari ,

which she uses for her vibrant sketches. She lets her community participate in her colourful around-theworld journey in her Instagram account @a.aradilla.

Speaking of colour. It is to a large extent due to the wide selection of colours which makes the LAMY safari so popular – from red to blue and green through to pink. For many years the most popular colour design has been umbra, followed by white and black. There are also the metallic versions of the LAMY AL-star as well as Special Editions, which are awaited with excitement each year and which arouse a collector’s passion within many people. “We not only experiment with colour here, but also with combinations of finishes and materials”, says Achenbach. “We can all look forward to seeing what the next Special Editions hold in store.” Even a real chameleon would turn pale with jealousy if confronted with this spectrum.

Since it’s the part of the fountain pen that touches the paper, the nib has a major impact on how each pen writes. Most LAMY fountain pens feature Extra Fine , Fine , Medium and Broad nibs, so here’s a look at each nib size and what it does best.

Extra Fine nibs are sharp and precise, with the narrowest line in the LAMY range. EF nibs excel at detailed handwriting and updating your busy schedule in your diary, and also leave the least ink on the page, helping it to dry faster. Perfect for those with tight, neat handwriting.

Fine nibs are a touch broader than EF nibs, allowing the ink to flow more generously, which creates a richer line on the page, and also lets the pen glide more gracefully across the page.

Medium nibs are broader again, delivering a thick, vivid line as it moves across the page. That extra ink also helps the pen to flow as you write, and makes your handwriting look even more lively and vibrant. If you’re starting out with fountain pens, a Medium nib is a great introduction.

Broad nibs make for handwriting that’s full of flourishes and line variations, which lends a vibrancy to letters, notes and journal entries. It’s a lively experience, and can be quite stunning, but the amount of ink on the page means it can be hard to manage for fountain pen newcomers, with greater chances of blurring or smudging.

Throughout the years this drink has seen multiple variations enjoyed by many.

In this post, we’re going to show you the best way to prepare and enjoy a Raspberry Moscow Mule, which is a creative twist on the classic Mule cocktail.

Raspberries take this drink to another level, adding tart and tangy tones with a delicious texture. The bright pop of color adds to the festive nature of this drink.

We've come across a few recipes for the Raspberry Moscow Mule. We've taken into consideration the variations, techniques, and twists different recipes have to offer, found what works best, and formulated the best Raspberry Moscow Mule recipe for your enjoyment!

Ingredients:

• Fresh (or frozen) raspberries
• Fresh limes
• Ginger beer

Instructions:

1. Raspberries are the key component of this recipe. Depending on the consistency you prefer, you may end up with a smooth raspberry purée, a chunky raspberry sauce or a raspberry syrup. Each of these options is described below.

Raspberry Purée

Put a handful of fresh raspberries into your blender or food processor with a splash of lime juice. Blend until the fruit has broken down. Be careful not to blend too thinly where the seeds are small enough to slip through the holes of a strainer.

Place a strainer over a container and pour the raspberry and lime mixture into the strainer. Use the back of a spoon to press chunkier bits of the purée through.

Chunky Raspberry Sauce

This option is for those of you who enjoy the added texture from the pulp of the fruit. Drop a handful of fresh raspberries and freshly squeezed lime juice into a cup and then muddle the mash together until you reach your desired consistency.

Unless you want a mouth full of seeds, we recommend you use a strainer in this method as well.

Raspberry Syrup

Fresh and frozen raspberries can be used for this one. Frozen raspberries must be thawed properly before cooking.

Place a handful of raspberries and a dash of freshly squeezed lime juice into a saucepan on low to medium heat. Cook for 10 minutes or until the fruit breaks down while stirring frequently.

Be cautious, because cooking on high heat may cause the berries to burn. Add water as desired if you think the syrup is too thick.

Remove from heat and strain.

Refrigerate.

Note: Allowing the syrup to sit and cool will cause it to thicken slightly.

2. Now that you have your fruit blend, it's time to add the vodka. Add a shot (or two) of your favorite vodka to the raspberry and lime mixture and stir. Better yet, if you have a cocktail shaker make use of it by combining the ingredients in the shaker. Give it a few robust shakes like the skilled bartender we know you are!

3. Lastly, top off your drink with a bit of ginger beer to give it that fiery kick and bubbly fizz. Stir gently.

Now you have yourself a spicy and fruity cocktail with a distinct tartness that is sure to awaken your taste buds.

The thing about cocktails is that presentation accounts for half, if not most, of their appeal. Impress your guests by following our tips on garnishes and serving.

When it comes to garnishing your cocktail imagination is the limit.

• Stick a lemon or a lime wheel on the rim of your serving mug or glass. The yellow or green will contrast beautifully with the red drink, especially if you are serving your cocktail in traditional copper mugs.
• If you have a few leftover raspberries, make a fruit skewer by pushing a toothpick through two or three juicy raspberries. Balance the toothpick on the rim of the cup or simply prop it gently on the side. This garnish doubles as a quick snack.
• A bonus of using frozen fruit is that you can use a few leftover raspberries as a fruity alternative to ice cubes. Drop a couple of frozen raspberries into your drink to keep the temperature colder for longer.
• Herbs have been a classic way to garnish cocktails and the Raspberry Moscow Mule is no exception. You can use fresh sprigs of thyme, basil or mint. To fully enjoy the benefits these herbs offer, make sure to place the herbs in the palm of your hand and give them a swift clap to release their fragrances.
• Gently place your herb garnish on top of your drink.

Moscow Mules of any variety are best served in authentic copper mugs. However, fear not if you don't have the famous copper mugs that Moscow Mules are traditionally served in. Although there is something to be said about the aesthetic value of that rich copper hue, this drink is just as tasty served over ice in any available cup or glass you may have on hand.

Raspberry Moscow Mule Mocktail

Creating a Raspberry Moscow Mule Mocktail is as simple as eliminating the vodka. That's it! Skip the second step of the recipe and you have a drink just as delightful without the alcohol.

Do note, however, that while most commercially sold ginger beers are non-alcoholic, there are a few brands that have an average of 4.8% ABV (alcohol by volume). Some brands carry a whopping 8.7% ABV! Check the label before you buy it.

Sweetness vs Tartness

It's clear that the tart flavor of raspberries is what gives this variation of the Moscow Mule its uniqueness.

Sometimes achieving that delicate balance between sweetness and tartness can be a bit more difficult than you expect. Raspberries picked at their peak stage of ripeness are the sweetest.

If you find that the tartness of the raspberries is a bit overpowering, you can balance the flavors by adding a touch of simple syrup. If you do not have the store-bought version, it's easy to make. Add 1 part water to 1 part white sugar in a saucepan and simmer on low to medium heat.

Let cool and add as desired.

Ginger Beer vs Ginger Ale

These are two distinct products with different tastes. When it comes to making a Moscow Mule, ginger ale is not a substitute for ginger beer . Ginger beer, though carbonated, is usually fermented which produces a sharper ginger taste.

Ginger ale, on the other hand, is simply carbonated water with more delicate ginger notes. When ginger ale is added to a Moscow Mule the taste is overwhelmed by the other ingredients. The result: another drink entirely.

Ginger beer gives the Moscow Mule the spicy ginger zing and bubbles it is recognized for.
