The story behind how Khajjiar came to be known as the “mini Switzerland” of India is an interesting one. It was Mr. Willy T. Blazer, Vice Counsellor and Head of Chancery of Switzerland, who first called it so. He was so enamoured of its landscape that he placed a sign board of a yellow Swiss hiking footpath which showed the distance from Bernes, the capital of Switzerland, to Khajjiar - 6194 km. Even though this happened back in 1992, the attraction of the place has not diminished even a bit.

Khajjiar is a small hill station located in Chamba district, and is a famous tourist attraction in Himachal Pradesh. You should visit this quaint and dreamy place to simply celebrate its existence. One of the most beautiful hill stations in Himachal and is also home to numerous historical events. It is certainly an abode of beauty, grandeur and adventure. The hill station attracts and enthralls tourists from all over the country, also known for its adventure activities and panoramic view.

How to reach?

By Rail – Pathankot’s Chakki Bank station is the nearest railhead from Dalhousie which is located at a distance of 17Km from the city Centre. It has express trains from major cities of India like including Jammu, Delhi, Jaipur, Bhatinda, Ahmedabad and Jodhpur and thus connects Dalhousie to rest of the country. One can then hire a cab from the station to reach Dalhousie which is a 2-3-hour travel.

By Bus – Himachal Road Transport Corporation and Haryana Road Transport Corporation have their busses running from Dalhousie to other metropolitan cities like Delhi. Dalhousie has a good road system from Pathankot or Chamba which act the main travel hubs to reach this place.
