Established in 1976, the Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research ( JHTR ) plays a major role in incubating, influencing, and inspiring hospitality and tourism research. JHTR publishes original research that clearly advances theoretical development and offers practical value for hospitality and tourism ecosystems. JHTR strives to publish research with IMPACT – JHTR publications are expected to be I nnovative, M eaningful, P ractically relevant, A cademically rigorous, C ross-disciplinary, and T heory-focused. This journal is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).  

We follow the guiding editorial principles of IMPACT – JHTR publications are expected to be Innovative, Meaningful, Practically relevant, Academically rigorous, Cross-disciplinary, and Theory-focused.

Innovative – JHTR strives to be an incubator for original and thought-provoking research. To be considered for JHTR publication, the manuscript must provide new and insightful ways of exploring and conceptualizing an issue; offer different, unique, or controversial perspectives on a research topic; and/or bring together ideas, theories, and concepts in novel and thought-provoking ways. We particularly welcome cutting-edge research that inspires, provokes, excites, and engages our audiences. Research that simply replicates previous work in a different context or geographical location is not generally considered as making a significant contribution unless it presents novel perspectives or interprets the findings in ways that expand our understanding of the phenomena. Likewise, if incremental extensions in the form of replicating previous work with the addition of some elements do not significantly alter the prediction or application of a theory, contribution to knowledge creation is likely limited. Methodological novelty or sophistication in and of itself cannot compensate for inadequate theoretical and practical merits. Interesting research may take many forms, but the surest methods for creating such research is to challenge a commonly accepted theory, proposition, practice, or assumption, or examine new phenomena with a goal to generate new knowledge.

Meaningful – JHTR contributions should appeal to a broad range of academic and non-academic audiences and address issues that are meaningful and significant to scholars as well as non-academic stakeholders such as practitioners, policy makers and/or consumers in hospitality and tourism and related fields. Work published in JHTR may also strive to demonstrate the societal impact of the findings. Studies addressing key societal challenges as related to hospitality and tourism are of particular interest to the JHTR readership.

Practically relevant – Research articles published in JHTR should have practical relevance. Authors must clearly address the “so what” question by highlighting the managerial and policy implications of their research. Although research findings should have translational impact on firms, destinations, communities, governments, society and beyond, submissions that are primarily practitioner-oriented and written with industry managers as the target audience may be more suitable for a practitioner journal.

Academically rigorous – JHTR contributions must be conceptually and methodologically rigorous. Research published in JHTR should have progressed through a rigorous, proper, and stringent knowledge development process that ensures that the output is academically sound. At the conceptual level, authors must identify a clear theoretical approach and articulate how the research advances our understanding of particular topics, concepts, or theories. We welcome a variety of methodological approaches, as appropriate to the research conducted. For quantitative research, authors should provide detailed information pertaining to data collection, sampling strategies, survey design, experimental manipulations, and measurement. Qualitative research should be conducted under the tenets of a specified research tradition. Regardless of the approach, all methodologies should be described in a manner that allows for replication and the research demonstrate evidence of reliability and validity in their corresponding methodological traditions.

Cross-disciplinary – Hospitality and tourism research is often enriched by exploring phenomena through the lens of other disciplines. Likewise, hospitality and tourism offer interesting and rich contexts that can help to shape the content and boundaries of studies in allied fields. Accordingly, where applicable, JHTR supports and encourages cross-disciplinary collaborations as well as contributions from scholars in other disciplines.

Theory-focused – JHTR strives to be a powerhouse for the cultivation of concepts, frameworks, models and theories that extend our understanding of relevant hospitality and tourism phenomena and inform the direction of future research. We particularly encourage and champion the development of theories and frameworks that originate from the hospitality and tourism field. Accordingly, contributing authors should pay particular attention to the interplay between concepts and contexts to create opportunities for theory building that captures the complexities, intricacies, and dynamics of hospitality and tourism phenomena.

We consider potential publications from the following disciplines:  Economics, Accounting, Business, Finance, Hotel and Tourism, Marketing management, Logistics and supply chain management, and Human resource management as well as blended approaches for the development or synthesis of knowledge.

We offer a platform for the dissemination of research-based knowledge for researchers, academicians, professionals, and graduate students to impart and share knowledge in the form of high-quality research papers, case studies, and book reviews.

Journal of Science and Development

Journal of Science and Development publishes research articles, review articles, short communications, book reviews, and registry of new crop varieties. The aim of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences is to expand knowledge in basic and applied scientific and empirical research output and development, provide access to research publications to a broad national and international readership, including researchers, practitioners, and students in agricultural and veterinary sciences. Articles are peer-reviewed by at least two referees. Reviewers will remain confidential. The Editor may reject, before submission to referees, those manuscripts that do not conform to the ‘Guide to Authors’, or that do not fall within the scope and purpose of the Journal.

East African Journal of Biophysical and Computational Sciences

The Journal, published under the Creative Commons open access license ( CC BY-NC-ND ), doesn't charge fees for publishing an article and hence offers an opportunity to all social classes regardless of their economic statuses. This helps to promote academic research published by resource-poor researchers as a mechanism to give back to society.

ETHIOINQUIRY Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences

The Journal publishes scholarly peer-reviewed works on social science, humanities, and development-related issues, policies, theories, and problems relevant to the continent of Africa with a focus on Ethiopia and the region. The disciplines for potential publication include Anthropology, Sociology, Psychology, Geography, Governance, Development study, Tourism, Journalism, Communication, Language study, Literature, etc., and blended approaches for the development or synthesis of knowledge-related (innovative) cases. Format of publication can be in the form of reviewed articles, non-reviewed reflections, book reviews, special volume editions, and comments.

Ethiopian Journal of Governance and Development (EJGD ) drives the discipline of governance and development towards human development and societal transformation on a scientific pattern that ensures the sustainability of nation, democracy, peace and harmony , stable and better-governed states in Africa in general, and Ethiopia in particular that play their role as building blocks for African integration t hrough disseminating knowledge of research and innovations.

Teaching-learning, Community Services, and Research are the key pillars of the higher learning institutions in the world. The Quality research output dissemination bridges the higher institutions with the society they are intended to serve by interacting and sharing new scientific findings that distinguish rationalism over irrationalism. It is on this endeavor of scientific inquiry in the vast and multifaceted areas of Governance and Development that the EJGD is launched.

In addition, the Journal is intended to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas and to constitute a depository of scholarly and scientific work of high academic standards that can contribute to design the policies and contribute to the establishment and/or consolidation of state-building, nation-building, democracy, and its institutions, good governance, development, and peace.   More specifically. the following rationale is identified:

• To carry out research on the interdisciplinary areas of governance and development in order to assist policy-makers, academicians, and public service sectors related to the development of public policies, scientific outlook, good governance, and service delivery issues.
• To provide a platform of dialogue and organize seminars, symposiums, workshops with and among stakeholders in the field of governance and development
• Working towards an enabling environment that can promote good leadership, democracy, peace, development, and corporate governance.
• To encourage the public policy dialogue on issues raised from the research

EJMHS is a multi- and inter-disciplinary journal that is devoted to publishing fascinating, high quality, state-of-the-art, and valuable advancements in the fields of medical, health, and basic sciences.

EJMHS invites submission of manuscripts from different disciplines to advance the depths of knowledge related to medical, health, and basic sciences. The journal encourages publications of scholarly papers on various themes with the aim of giving innovative solutions to health problems.

Hawassa University Journal of Law

Hawassa University Journal of Law (HUJL) aspires to foster legal scholarship through research and inquiry into contemporary legal problems and law-related issues; and it serves as a forum for academicians, researchers, law-makers, practitioners, and policy-makers to publish their original scientific research findings. The Journal is intended for legal scholars, practitioners, government officials, and graduate and post-graduate law students. HUJL is an open-access peer-reviewed journal that annually publishes original and high-quality scholarly works since July 2017.
