Tickets to the "mega" tour go on sale this week

Johnny Marr has announced a “mega” North American tour with James later this year – see the full list of tour dates below.

Yesterday (May 7), Marr took to social media to announce the North American tour dates for his ‘Spirit Power’ shows with James, which will take place between September and October.

The 20-date trek will see Marr and James play shows in Denver, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Brooklyn, Montreal, Chicago and more. Pre-sale tickets to the shows go live today (May 8) at 10am local time, while general tickets to the tour will go on sale at 10am local time this Friday, May 10. Tickets can be bought here .

Marr and James have had history with one another, the latter first supporting The Smiths in 1985 on their ‘Meat Is Murder’ tour. Marr recalled of touring with James via a press release: “We admired them and even did one of their songs in our set. I’ve been a fan of theirs ever since and being out on tour again after 40 years is a really great thing.”

Johnny Marr’s most recent solo album,  ‘Fever Dreams Pts 1-4’ , arrived in 2022.

Additionally, Marr is set to perform with Suede and Nadine Shah for a huge outdoor headline show in the UK for this summer . Headlined by Suede, the show is due to take place in the grounds of Audley End in Saffron Walden, Essex on Thursday, August 1. You can get your tickets here .

Johnny Marr and James have announced a joint tour of North America, starting at the end of summer. The coast-to-coast run takes in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, and more than a dozen other cities. Check out the dates below.

Marr and his fellow Mancunians first toured together in 1985, when James supported the Smiths on the Meat Is Murder tour. In a press release, Marr recalled of that tour, “We admired them and even did one of their songs in our set. I’ve been a fan of theirs ever since and being out on tour again after 40 years is a really great thing.”

Johnny Marr has teamed up with fellow Manchester act James for a 2024 co-headlining tour across North America.

Kicking off on September 17th in Denver, the joint trek will also stop in cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, Brooklyn, Toronto, and Vancouver before closing out in Saint Paul, Minnesota on October 18th. See the full itinerary below.

Johnny Marr of The Smiths is ready and raring for a night of jangle-pop hits like "Easy Money," "Hi Hello," and "Spiral Cities!" Honored with the NME's "Godlike Genius" Award, Marr is cited as one of the greatest guitarists of his time, clinching Top 10 peaks in the UK charts. Indie pop group James, meanwhile, will have you hopelessly entranced by their triple-platinum and Silver Clef Award-winning harmonies.

Almost forty years after the fabled "Meat is Murder" Tour, Johnny Marr and James will reunite in a joint series of concerts connecting North America coast to coast! Summer 2024's End will see The Smith's former guitarist and his fellow Mancunian act begin their trip in Denver before lighting up other big markets, such as LA, Brooklyn, and Toronto, during its two-month course. Watch them in New Orleans on October 4 as 20-city tour's second half kicks off LIVE at The Fillmore!

Former Smiths guitarist and songwriter Johnny Marr has just announced a North American co-headlining tour with Manchester indie-pop outfit James! The tour will take the duo across both US coasts as well as a few dates in Toronto and Vancouver in fall of 2024.

According to Marr, the pairing was meant to be, as they had toured with The Smiths back in the 1980s and created some fond memories together.

“I remember The Smiths being on tour with James in 1985,” Marr said in a press release. “We admired them and even did one of their songs in our set. I’ve been a fan of theirs ever since and being out on tour again after 40 years is a really great thing.”

The first stop on the Johnny Marr and James 2024 Tour will be on September 17 in Denver, Colorado at Paramount Theatre. The tour will come to an end on October 18 in Saint Paul, Minnesota at the Palace Theatre.

Tickets will be available through a Live Nation pre-sale (use access code SOUNDCHECK ) beginning Thursday, May 9th ahead of the general on-sale starting Friday, May 10th via Ticketmaster .

CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced new Quest headsets, updates to Meta’s Llama AI model, and real-time video capabilities of Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. The biggest reveal, though, was Orion, a true AR glasses prototype touted as “the most advanced glasses the world has ever seen.” OpenAI CTO Mira Murati announced this week that she is leaving the company after more than six years.

What can be said about Johnny Fuckin Marr that hasn’t been said before. Greatest living guitarist with an ear for a great riff. And now more comfortable in the front man role. Not a great voice but strong enough to carry those songs and on the many Smiths tunes he is not tempted to ape Mozzer.

You could feel the love in the room which was not confined to Nile Rodgers who enthusiastically introduced his friend Johnny.

Seeing Johnny is the best way to remember the greatness of The Smiths and let’s hope there is one light that never goes out.

The show was fantastic and very intimate! Johnny is extremely talented, and very friendly. He interacted with the crowd, and played many guitar riffs practically in your face. He played several Smith songs better than what you here on the records. Bottom line, it was an Amazing show.

Johnny Marr is the genuine article. Originator, icon, in excellent form to boot. *Not* a heritage act, tho he knew just when to pull out Smiths material. Good light show too. A pleasure & privilege to see him play.
