Harry Styles first gained fame in 2010 when he auditioned for the seventh season of the British competition series, He was eliminated at first but was brought back later to compete as part of the group One Direction, along with bandmates Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik.

The group finished in third place, and shortly after, signed with Syco Records. One Direction went on to become one of the biggest boy bands of all time.

After five albums and four world tours, One Direction disbanded in 2016. This marked the beginning of Harry Styles’ solo career. A year later, he released the first single from his upcoming self-titled debut album.

“Sign of The Times” reached number one on the UK singles and number four on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Rolling Stones magazine named it the best song of the year, with critics likening it to the styles of Queen and David Bowie. Its accompanying music video was also a giant success, winning British Video of the Year at the Brit Awards.

When Harry Styles released his self-titled debut album in May 2017, it topped the charts in several countries, including the US, UK, and Australia. In September that year, Styles embarked on his first headlining concert tour.

As if 2017 couldn’t get any bigger for Styles, the year also saw his feature film debut. He was cast as a soldier named Alex in the Christopher Nolan movie Dunkirk.

Styles switched to a role behind the camera in 2018, serving as executive producer for the television sitcom Happy Together. He also began modeling for Gucci that year, marking the beginning of his fashion evolution. With an affinity for high-waisted pants, pearls, and sparkles, Harry is well-known for his refusal to stick to the rules. Many fans delight in capturing and sharing his tour outfits on social media.

In 2019, Styles released “Lights Up,” the lead single from his much-anticipated second album. The song debuted at number three in the UK. Styles’ second album Fine Line dropped in December of the same year. Not only did it instantly top the US charts, the album broke the record for the biggest sales debut by a British male artist. It was also named one of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time by Rolling Stone magazine.

Fine Line produced five singles, including “Watermelon Sugar.” The song became Harry Styles’ first number-one single in the US.

Harry Styles was originally set to embark on a tour in 2020 to support 2019’s Fine Line. Unfortunately, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thankfully, fans didn’t have to wait too long. The tour kicked off in 2021 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

In 2021, Harry Styles was nominated for three Grammy Awards, winning Best Pop Solo Performance for “Watermelon Sugar.” He also made a brief return to the big screen with a cameo appearance in Marvel’s “Eternals” film. He finished the year by launching his gender-neutral skin care line, Pleasing.

In 2022, Harry Styles dropped his third studio album, Harry’s House. The lead single, “As it Was,” debuted at number one in the UK and US. It topped the US charts for 15 consecutive weeks, making it the fourth longest-running number one single.

Harry’s House also topped both the UK and US charts, making Styles the first British solo artist to have four singles charting within the US Top 10 at the same time. At the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, he won three awards, including Album of the Year.

Harry Styles' film career also continues to grow. He appeared in the 2022 thriller Don’t Worry Darling and the 2022 film adaptation of My Policeman.

As part of his ongoing Love On Tour, Styles has performed 15 sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden. The venue raised a permanent banner to mark his achievement. He’s the third artist in history to have received this honor.

Last month, Harry Styles blew me away!

I had been looking forward to the One Direction concert for almost a year and I couldn't wait. Together with other Directioners we stood in line for several hours, but let me tell you this, it was definetely worth it!

Just before the concert, there were some rumors about Harry Styles. According to some fans, Harry's voice wasn't at its best and he had to give up some of his solos. I was really disappointed when I heard this, but he absolutely nailed it during his performance. He didn't stop once to catch his breath or drink some water. He'd wait for the song to finish before running over the stage to quickly drink some water. He was enthusiastic and his voice was amazing! He has a really good voice and he can sing any song, high pitch or low pitch. During happy and fun songs he's jumping around, but during the slower, more meaningful songs he really shows his emotions.

One Direction is a boyband that has their own sound. They have a lot of different songs, some are slow and others are perfect for a party. Their music can best be described as modern pop mixed with a bit of rock. During this concert, Harry really paid attention to the fans. He'd say how much he loves as and how grateful he is for our support. This really made us feel special and made the concert even better. He was also fooling around, making silly faces and throwing water onto us. You could see how much he enjoyed it and that he actually loves his fans. One direction is a popular boy band, with songs that everybody loves. A lot of people won't admit it but when they're in the car and a One Direction song comes on, they will sing along. I even know two people who are in their twenties and secretly like One Direction. One Direction is their so called guilty pleasure. So, if you weren't sure whether to visit a One Direction concert, I hope I have given you enough reasons to buy those tickets. You will definetely enjoy their performance and it will be a memorable experience. And I'll be able to say I told you so ;) And I'm sure that every person who has visited one of their concerts has enjoyed it. And they will all tell you that Harry Styles is an amazing artist!

my best friend introduced me to One Direction the year before their hiatus and solo adventures, that started my blessing and seeing Harry Styles live June 24 at Capital One Arena in DC continued that blessing! Kacey Musgraves opened up the show and her message of equality, love and kindness touched my heart, in addition to her beautiful voice that is. when she said " everyone is welcome here at Harry Styles shows" that made me have a tear or two in my eyes. Also loved the images during her songs Rainbow and Butterflies. The rubix cube countdown and crowd singing Olivia got me more and more excited until Harry came on stage, thought for a moment I was like a balloon and was going to pop. From start to finish is was a electric performance, full of emotions, fun, love and light banter...an unforgettable conversation with a fan who dressed up as a banana is a highlight I will remember always. It's rare these days to find a room full of people who just want to show a bit of love and kindness towards others. Let go and have fun and let tomorrow worry about tomorrow. The night changes but through love we can make those changes good ones. Wonderful show and hope I get to see him live again!! I will for sure be getting tickets If I lucky enough for the opportunity.

The Harry Styles concert at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith was an absolutely memorable occasion!

Upon arrival, there were a lot of people gathering in queues - to be fed into the Golden Circle and General Standing areas. My friend and I had Seated tickets so we wandered around and took in the area and atmosphere. Excitement was definitely in the air!

Closer to the starting time, we joined the queue that snaked around the block, until we were all quickly and efficiently checked by security and let into the venue. We made a beeline for the ladies loo's and the facilities were in good condition and there were enough to prevent people from queuing for the toilet.

Once in the venue, we were treated to MUNA, a pop-trio who opened for Harry! They were awesome to listen to and it was a great start to what promised to be an even better ending! Harry came on and everyone was on their feet for the rest of the show! We sang along to every word, that we could hear perfectly!

The show was amazing and Harry Styles live was a dream come true! It won't be the last time I see him, though!

It was absolutely amazing. The first band/singer who played was amazing (Maddy Jane). Harry was amazing - at the start of his show, he was so mysterious and beautiful. At the beginning, i cried because I was so happy that I was there, the fact that I was able to get tickets and to believe he was there and to actually see him in person. Throughout the show Harry was his cheeky and charming self, he was very entertaining and sang his songs beautifully. Harry sang covers and songs from his album 'Harry Styles'. The covers were Just a little bit of your heart, he sang Stockholm Syndrome and The Chain by Fleetwood Mac. He sang Kiwi 2 times and the fans who were at the concert sang Kiwi through by themselves. The management of the whole show was amazing, as was the security, the medical, the services and obviously so was Maddy Jane and Harry Styles. Overall it was a great experience - I would go there again for any other concert.

Yo solo quiero que él sepa de mi existencia, que me vea y que me diga algo, gracias por la oportunidad aunque seguramente no logre nada, gracias.

I have no words.

Everything about yesterday's concert was amazing. Harry was impeccable and his vocals were remarkable. The aesthetic was great and they had something different going for each song. The concert lasted about an hour and a half, and that's incredible having in mind that he only has released one album - I've been to other concerts in which the artist had 3 albums in their name and only stayed for a rough hour - . Going back o the music: he is great live. Sounds exactly like the studio version except for small changes he makes which only make the music more personal and credible. Don't think about it, just go see it for yourself. It'll be an unforgettable experience; take my word for it.

I've got nothing else to say, Harry's name speaks for itself.

I went to the Harry concert in hershey on the 14th of july and then on the 15th in Philly. I got questioned a lot why I wanted to go two days in a row but the two concerts were like day and night. Since harry worked with verified fan to get tickets to real fans the concert was everything. He preformed great at hershey And i still had one of the best days of my life but Philly was something else. The crowd knew all the words and was clear that they all wanted ti be there v badly when in herhsey it was because tickets were cheap. I loved both nights with all my heart and wont forget a second of it. His profmance was incredible and his personality was adorable

AHH hands down the BEST concert of my life!! He’s and incredible performer with a voice of an angel.. not only is he gifted vocally but also can play the guitar like a pro. Harry’s music is not like everyone else’s it’s unique and powerful and he really puts his souls out there when performing he sings with soul. He talks with the audience and interacts with people .. he also thanks his band and staff members he’s very polite. But I TOTALLY RECOMMEND seeing him I’m gonna find a way to do it every time he comes to my city. OH and Bonus his band totally rocks!! His band seems like such a cool group of people I hope next time to get front row.

The show was awesome. Harry always has such high energy and just is beyond interactive with his fans. He is genuinely a terrific person who really seems to want to make the experience the best for everyone. It was easy going and not rushed through. His smile is infectious and you can tell he enjoys what he is doing immensely. I would go and see him in concert over and over again. His music is blended well through out the concert to keep things from slowing down to much or just being wild and crazy. As an older fan of his, it was nice to see how inclusive he is with his entire fandom. The concert is just fantastic. If you get a chance you must see it.

april 5th 2018 was literally the best day of my life. since i´ve been following and loving harry since 2010 it was impossible for me to remain still and not say anything. harry is such a great performer, he knows how to entertain his audience. a kind and genuine person who can bring a smile on your face even if you never listened to his songs. my place was really frontal and 10m from the second stage. on the b-stage it was everything really touching and tears fell down the faces of 13.000 people who were just enjoying a simple show of a 24 year old guy. he is incredible!! every cent is worth the 2 hours you will spend inside the arena.

Harry Styles Announces 2022 North American Tour Dates

Harry Styles has announced his 2022 North American tour dates in support of the new album Harry’s House . He’ll be performing at just five venues: Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, New York’s Madison Square Garden, Austin’s Moody Center, Chicago’s United Center, and Los Angeles’ Kia Forum. Support at the Toronto shows will come from Madi Diaz; Blood Orange will open for Styles at Madison Square Garden; and Jessie Ware is the opener for the Chicago concerts. Find Styles’ schedule below.

At the 2021 Grammy Awards , Styles played “ Watermelon Sugar ” with a band that included Blood Orange’s Devonté Hynes. Hynes also musically directed the performance.

This spring and summer, Styles is performing in the United Kingdom and Europe . Support on the UK and European legs of the tour include Mitski, Arlo Parks, and Wolf Alice.

Harry’s House is out May 20. The lead single is “ As It Was .”

Harry Styles Announces Rescheduled 'LOVE ON TOUR' Dates

European dates have been put on hold due to covid vaccine rollouts..

After months of uncertainty as to whether Harry Styles ‘ long-awaited LOVE ON TOUR would actually go forward, the Grammy-winning artist has shared a rebooked schedule for the US leg of the concert series, scheduled to commence this fall.

Fans were initially taken aback after learning that the tour had been rescheduled through an email from Ticketmaster — instead of from the artist himself — on Tuesday. Setting the record straight, Styles took to social media to share the updated tour calendar on Wednesday.

Grammy Award®-winning global superstar Harry Styles is back on stage this Fall as he announces his updated set of US tour dates today. For the first time, the multi-platinum singer will perform all the hits from his double platinum album  FINE LINE  in front of fans from around the country . Love On Tour  was set to begin next month but due to COVID-19 restrictions varying by state, all dates have been rescheduled for later this year. The tour will now kick off on September 4 in Las Vegas with Special Guest Jenny Lewis.  Love On Tour includes 5 dates in New York City at Madison Square Garden, 2 of which are special Harryween shows on October 30 and 31 with Special Guest Orville Peck. Registration to purchase tickets for the new tour dates will begin on Wednesday, July 14   at 9am PT through Sunday, July 18 at 10pm PT. To ensure fans get tickets in their hands directly, presale registration for the newly-added tour dates is available now  here  through Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program. Harry Styles Announces New Love on Tour Dates, Including 10 Shows Each in N.Y.C. and Los Angeles

Harry Styles' new shows come in support of his upcoming album Harry's House

If you haven't had a chance yet to catch Harry Styles ' Love on Tour, fear not — the star has just added more than 30 new dates.

The "As It Was" singer, 28, announced a new leg of his arena tour, which comes after a sold-out, 42-date run in 2021.

The new dates will see Styles spend multiple nights in five different North American cities in support of his third album Harry's House , which comes out on May 20.

Love on Tour 2022 will begin in Toronto on Aug. 15, and will make 10 stops at New York City's Madison Square Garden, five stops in Austin, Texas, and five stops in Chicago before wrapping in November with 10 shows at Los Angeles' Kia Forum.

Joining him throughout the tour are supporting acts Madi Diaz, Blood Orange, Gabriels, Jessie Ware and Ben Harper.

Styles is coming off a whirlwind year, but is showing no signs of slowing down. After a headlining set at the Coachella music festival last month, he's gearing up for even more Love on Tour dates worldwide, starting in Glasgow on June 11.

He also recently announced two One Night Only shows , in New York and London, in which he'll play Harry's House in its entirety.

Harry heads, listen up.

You only have five opportunities to see Harry Styles live in the U.S. this year.

From Jan. 27-29, the former One Direction frontman will headline at Inglewood, CA’s Kia Forum to make up for three concerts he postponed in late 2022.

Then, Styles tacked on two shows at Thousand Palms’ Acrisure Arena on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 .

Harry Styles Announces Residency Tour for ‘Harry’s House’

It’s  Harry’s House and we’re just the king’s unworthy guests. On Thursday, Harry Styles announced a fall residency tour , which will see him make stops in major cities New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, and Austin, in support of his forthcoming album, scheduled for May 20.

The set of shows serves as a seeming continuation of his massive 42-date Love on Tour from last year. This time, though, he’s converting arena venues into Harry’s House as he performs songs from his new record in just a few cities.

The trek will start in Toronto on Aug. 15 and 16, where he’ll welcome Madi Diaz as his opener. He’ll then head to New York City on Aug. 20 for 15 nights at Madison Square Garden with Blood Orange, followed by six nights at Austin’s Moody Center accompanied by the Gabriels at the end of September, before performing in Chicago’s United Center with Jessie Ware for another six dates.

The residency tour dates follow his successful headlining performances at Coachella. During weekend one, he welcomed Shania Twain for “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” and “You’re Still the One.” Meanwhile, Lizzo joined Styles for a cover of Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive” and One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful” during weekend two.

Tickets for Love on Tour 2022 go on sale to the general public on May 25 to those who register for Ticketmaster’s “ verified fan ” presale. Meanwhile, American Express cardholders can access early ticket sales beginning May 24.

Harry Styles ‘ Love on Tour has been a smash hit, so much so that the far-reaching trek is receiving a major expansion next year. On Friday (Aug. 26), Live Nation announced that the “As It Was” singer will be embarking on another European leg of his Love on Tour in 2023, and added new shows to his North and South American legs of the tour.

After Styles’ 11 remaining dates at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, the star will be heading down to Austin’s Moody Center, which just received a sixth date slated for Oct. 3. Chicago will also be getting a sixth date tacked on to the 28-year-old’s residency at the city’s United Center, and is scheduled for Oct. 15. Gabriels will be supporting Styles during his Austin dates (Sept. 25-26, Sept. 28-29 and Oct. 2-3), while Jessie Ware will be the opening act for Chicago (Oct. 6, 8-9, Oct 13-15).

For South America, Styles’ Nov. 29 date in Lima, Peru has received a venue upgrade to Estadio Nacional, which has a capacity of 43,086 attendees. São Paulo, Brazil, also gets a second date, with the singer tacking on a Dec. 13 date at the Allianz Parque. Styles will be playing the venue on Dec. 6. Koffee will support on all South American dates.

The Grammy winner will be heading back to Europe in 2023 starting on May 13 at the CASA Arena in Horsens, Denmark, and will make stops in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona and more before wrapping things up at Italy’s RCF Arena. Wet Leg will support Styles on all European dates, with Inhaler joining the rock duo June 10.

Tickets go on sale via Live Nation on staggered dates: Lima tickets will be available starting on Aug. 29, with São Paulo the following day at 10 a.m. local time. The new Austin and Chicago dates will both go on sale on Sept. 1 at 10 a.m. local time, while the European dates go up for grabs at Sept. 2, also at 10 a.m. local time.

Is ‘The Idea of You’ Harry Styles Fan Fiction? The Answer Is Complicated

The filmmakers do more to align star and character than the novel did. But somehow that doesn’t make the movie indebted to the musician.

Hayes Campbell, the dreamy protagonist of the new rom-com “The Idea of You,” has a bit in common with the mega pop star Harry Styles:

In the movie, Hayes, played by Nicholas Galitzine, is a member of August Moon, a boy band with tons of very ardent teen and tween girl fans. Styles was a member of a boy band called One Direction. You’ve probably heard of it.

Hayes is British. So is Harry Styles.

Hayes eventually quits his band and starts making soulful pop rock. So did Harry.

Hayes likes to date older women, and his relationship with a gallerist named Solène Marchand (Anne Hathaway) is the backbone of the film. Harry, too, has been involved in tabloid-documented relationships with older women, most famously, the actress and director Olivia Wilde.

So does “The Idea of You” come off as an act of fan fiction? Bizarrely, no, even if the shadow of Styles does loom large over the whole project.

Plenty of headlines have already described the movie as “Harry Styles fan fiction,” though Robinne Lee, the author of the 2017 novel on which it is based, is typically coy in interviews about whether the pop star inspired her book.

“Inspired is a strong word,” Lee has said. The author, who is also an actress with degrees from Yale and Columbia Law School and perhaps best known for her appearances in films like “Hitch” and “Fifty Shades Darker,” has described encountering “the face of a boy I’d never seen in a band I’d never paid attention to” and thinking it was “art.” After the novel became a viral sensation, Lee told Vogue in 2020 , “This was never supposed to be a book about Harry Styles.” In a piece for Time published this month, Lee argued that “assuming a novel with a fictional celebrity in a relationship must be based on an existing celebrity — in this case, the internet has decided, Harry Styles — is unimaginative at best and sexist at worst.”

She is certainly less explicit about a pop star connection than Anna Todd , whose “After” series of novels started explicitly as Styles fan fiction on the platform Wattpad and have since been turned into a film franchise . (It’s a path that might be familiar to fans of “Fifty Shades,” which started as “Twilight” fan fiction.) However, unlike “The Idea of You,” the “After” series has nothing to do with a boy band. The Harry of “After” is a college student named Hardin, but when the first novel was published in 2014, the portrayal outraged some One Direction lovers with the way it turned Styles into a bad boy manipulating a young woman. One 14-year-old Styles fan told The New York Times then: “The way Harry in this book is portrayed is disgusting.”

On the other hand, Styles fans have embraced “The Idea of You” as text that can feed their obsession. Kayla Kleinman, a social media manager at Bookshop.org, was not a Styles devotee when she first read the novel, but became one after finishing it during the pandemic. She felt “emotionally attached” to the book, and wanted the experience of reading it to continue, she said in an interview. So she sought out Styles’s music. “In my head it felt like a continuation of the story even though I very much knew that they were not,” she said. “But to me that next step was being like, ‘OK, I’m going to dive into this world as a thing to entertain myself.’” Now Kleinman has even gone to Harry Styles concerts with a friend she made from an “Idea of You” Facebook group.

The novel, it’s worth noting, does more to distinguish between Harry and Hayes than the movie does. In Lee’s version, Hayes is a boy from a posh upbringing who put together August Moon himself. In the film, which was adapted by the director Michael Showalter and his co-writer Jennifer Westfeldt, Hayes is cast in the group after auditioning, not unlike the way Styles was on the British version of “The X Factor” before being selected for One Direction. (That said, the book features considerable discussion of Hayes’s dimples, which feels like a direct reference to Styles’s looks.)

But while these changes align the Hayes onscreen with the Harry of reality, they surprisingly don’t make the movie indebted to Styles. Rather, they just make it more grounded than Lee’s novel, which sometimes comes across as a list of detailed descriptions of the furnishings of luxury hotels along with copious sex scenes.

The film understands that the fantasy of a Harry Styles type is a potent one. Styles has earned the affection of millions not just because he’s attractive and has a nice singing voice and ambitious glam-rock style. There is an idea perpetuated by his fandom that he’s accepting and, most of all, kind. (He even recorded a song, released after the “Idea of You” novel, called “Treat People With Kindness.”) That kindness is filtered through the new film.

As the movie opens, Solène, divorced and on the verge of turning 40, steps in when her ex (Reid Scott) has last-minute plans that prevent him from taking their teenage daughter, Izzy (Ella Rubin), to Coachella. Izzy (a middle schooler in the novel, but aged up here) is no longer enamored with August Moon and is now into female singer-songwriter types, but her rich, inattentive dad has paid for a meet-and-greet with the band.

Solène then meets cute with Hayes when she accidentally wanders into his trailer, thinking it’s a public restroom. He’s charmed and starts to pursue her by visiting her gallery in the reliably hip Silver Lake neighborhood in Los Angeles, where he looks upon her with wonder as she explains the art to him.

Hayes, as played by Galitzine, is something of a perfect man. He’s handsome. (Duh.) He’s talented. The August Moon of the film has its own songs , which means that those crushing on Hayes don’t have to imagine him singing One Direction tunes, and in any case Hayes wants to pursue a deeper kind of musicianship. He’s persistent without being aggressive, charming without being saccharine. Yes, he’s younger than Solène — aged up from 20 to 24 in the film — but he doesn’t fetishize her age. He’s just entranced by her smarts and beauty.

Galitzine seems to understand that a movie like this works only if the audience can see how in love he is with Solène, and to accomplish that he cedes the floor to Hathaway. While the Solène of the book namedrops designer clothes, Hathaway makes her earthy, someone in a period of re-evaluation after having a child too young with an ultimately disappointing husband. Her caution in embarking on a tryst with Hayes is met with a dose of self-deprecation that doesn’t feel forced. You see her bloom in Galitzine’s gaze and also her pain when she realizes that a relationship in the public eye is going to take a toll on her daughter.

By the end it doesn’t really matter whether Hayes is based on Harry Styles because the cute boy isn’t really the point anyway. It’s how that cute boy makes the heroine feel. And if she’s in love, then so are we.

Is ‘The Idea of You’ Harry Styles fan fiction? The author sets the record straight

T he highly-anticipated movie adaptation of Robinne Lee’s novel "The Idea of You" is finally here, and there's one question that fans can't quite shake: Is this story Harry Styles fan fiction?

Many fans drew a connection between Nicholas Galitzine's character, Hayes Campbell — an attractive British member of a five-person boy band, clad in tattoos who often dates older women — and Harry Styles. And while Lee has said that she pulled some inspiration for the leading man from Styles, he is not the only source.

"I think it's clickbait ... Everyone just goes straight to Harry Styles. I feel like that’s the person that’s going to get you the most clicks," Lee tells TODAY.com. "Is there some Harry in there? Yes. But there’s like 23 other people in there. The Prince Harry references don’t get picked up on, and I mentioned him in the book directly."

Lee says other influences for Hayes, and August Moon as a whole, include celebrities and bands like Eddie Redmayne, Michael Hawkins, Duran Duran, John Taylor and Simon Le Bon.

So how did we get stuck on the Harry Styles of it all in the first place?

Where did the Harry Styles rumors start?

Following the publication of "The Idea of You" in 2017, Lee said that late-night YouTube surfing and a conversation with her husband, Eric Hayes, inspired the idea for this novel.

"I came across the face of a boy I’d never seen in a band I’d never paid attention to, and it was so aesthetically perfect... I spent a good hour or so Googling and trying to figure out who this kid was and in doing so I discovered that he often dated older women, and so the seed was planted," she told author Deborah Kalb.

She added, "I joked with him that I’d found the perfect guy and I was leaving him and our two kids, 'Oh, and by the way, he’s half my age.' My husband laughed, and then a moment later said, 'You know, that would make a great book.'"

Lee also started writing the novel in 2014 , the peak One Direction era. At that point, they were still a group of five, their "Where We Are Tour" was in full swing and (nearly) everyone knew at least one thing about them.

Styles specifically was largely categorized as the "heartthrob" of the group, with a history of dating of older women.

And so, the Harry Styles-"The Idea of You" association was born.

Is August Moon based on One Direction?

Since Hayes Campbell is partially inspired by Harry Styles, it's not a stretch to assume some inspiration for the rest of the band came from One Direction.

But like Lee, the film’s choreographer, Dani Vitale, producers for the soundtrack, Savan Kotecha and Carl Falk, and the actors that play the members of August Moon say they made an intentional effort to set the band apart from One Direction and form their own lane.

"(One Direction's) very successful, and we're playing a boy band that's very successful, so there’s obviously going to be comparisons," Raymond Cham, who plays Oliver in "The Idea of You," tells TODAY.com. "We did try and I believe succeed in creating something new and something different."

How the band was formed

In both the novel and movie, Hayes Campbell and the other members of August Moon auditioned with the intention of being in a boy band.

On the other hand, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson all auditioned to be on "The X Factor" as solo artists and were put together to form One Direction by judges Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh.

The band members

At first mention in the novel, August Moon is described “a quintet of handsome lads from Britain who sang pleasant pop songs and drove tween girls mad.” This description extends to One Direction (although their fandom reached more than just tweens).

Each member of August Moon has their own shtick they're known for among their fanbase of "Moonheads." For example, Hayes is the "swagger one."

Similarly, while the members of One Direction had their associations, they were less concrete.

The line-up

In the original "The Idea of You" book, August Moon's line-up consisted of Hayes, Oliver, Rory, Simon and Liam.

Liam Payne is notably a former member of One Direction.

However, they changed this character when adapted the book for the screen. In "The Idea of You" film, August Moon is made up of Hayes, Oliver, Rory, Simon and Adrian.

Madi Diaz has hit out at Delta Airlines after “devastating” damage to her guitar of 20 years, asking: “How could this happen?”

The musician – who previously opened for Harry Styles and joined his backing band during his Love On Tour run in 2023 – took to her official X/Twitter account to share video clips of her destroyed 20-year-old Martin D-28 guitar.

Diaz – who will be serving as opening support for Kacey Musgraves on her ‘Deeper Well’ tour – wrote: “Starting tour w @KaceyMusgraves tmmrw and opened my guitar case to practice and found this. The damage is beyond. How could this happen. PLEASE REPOST. delta needs to know they can’t treat instruments like this.”

Diaz concluded her tweets with one thanking her fans for “getting angry” with her over the situation and hopes to get some kind of resolution with the airline.

NME has reached out to Delta Airlines for a comment.

Fans came to the singer’s support with on tweeting: “It was even in a solid hard shell case. Damage like this is not accidental by any means.. you have to try to do that.”

Two-time Grammy Award nominee Jamie Floyd also responded to Diaz’s video tweeting: “@Delta it literally looks like someone did this on purpose to @madidiaz guitar…how does this happen? No respect or care for people’s belongings?? This is the way she makes her living..and someone smashed it in..on your watch. Please make this right.”

Musician Trevor McFedries also responded to the situation saying: “What in the hell. Through a hardcase?! I’m sorry Madi.”

Billie Eilish is embarking on a world tour in support of her forthcoming third album, “ Hit Me Hard and Soft ,” set for release on May 17.

The Live Nation-produced tour will kick off in September in Quebec and continue through North America until December. In February 2025, Eilish will hit Australia, followed by Europe, the U.K. and Ireland from April to late July.

Tickets will be available for presale for American Express cardholders on April 30, with additional presales running throughout the week. General tickets go on sale May 3 through Ticketmaster .
