Scania Go launched as premium late used platform

Scania is aiming to redefine the marketplace for late used commercial vehicles – including coaches and buses – with its Scania Go concept that, the company says, majors on flexibility.

It “is a specific new proposition that will deliver several guarantees,” says Scania (Great Britain) Marketing Director Paul Smith. Scania Go captures vehicles that are up to five years old and have covered a maximum of 550,000km. He adds that Scania Go has been two years in the making and represents a “major overhaul of how we market and sell used vehicles.”

The new platform is built around a set of guarantees to the customer in what Paul describes as representing “a very bold move.” However, he notes that while the used market in Scania’s core truck segment is stronger than it has been for a long time owing to difficulties in the new vehicle supply chain, Scania Go has been conceived as a long-term proposition.

It is also concerned with protecting the residual values of the vehicles that Scania Go will process. “Customers need them to be worth more and we need them to be worth more,” says Paul.

Each vehicle that comes under the new umbrella will be supported by a set of what Scania describes as “flexible benefits,” although two of those will apply to trucks only. Preparation will see all vehicles in the programme receive “an improved and rigorous over 300-point mechanical and cosmetic inspection, including a test drive.

Customers will be able to tailor maintenance requirements via a “pick and mix” offering that includes an R&M contract proposition or a service package. Scania Financial Services will provide a range of funding solutions. Those include hire purchase, finance lease and operating lease.

Also part of Scania Go is a 30-day replacement guarantee. If the vehicle develops a mechanical or electrical fault within that time, the customer can exchange it for a like-for-like replacement. If none is available, a refund will be made.

A 24/7 mobility guarantee for the first 30 days of ownership that includes a compensation payment structure is also part of the new product.

Scania says that such an offering “will ensure that customers are not without a vehicle should it break down at the roadside and cannot be fixed within 24 hours.”

Under the mobility guarantee arrangement, a loan vehicle, or up to £250 for coach and bus customers, will be provided for each day the customer’s vehicle is off the road.

Scania Go is headlined with an ‘arrowhead’ brand. In addition to a dedicated website , an app can be used to search stock.

Scania Presents New and Improved Coach

An outstanding driver environment, increased load capacity, improved passenger comfort and significantly reduced fuel consumption are among the new features as the new generation Scania Touring is introduced.

In the new generation, the load capacity in the front axle has been increased by 500 kilos, which enables improved weight distribution and higher passenger and luggage capacity.

The driver environment, along with the guide area, has undergone several updates. “ We believe our workplace for the driver is industry leading. It offers exceptional ergonomics, visibility and control ,” says Åke Allard, Head of Product Management, Scania Buses & Coaches. With a newly developed suspension and smooth gear changes, the new Scania Touring increases comfort for drivers, crew and passengers.

Drivers will also be pleased with the new advanced driver assistance systems, that include Attention Support and Lane Change Collision Prevention. “ This, along with the vehicle’s design and great driveability increases safety for everyone onboard and minimises downtime by preventing accidents and limiting damages ,” says Allard.

Fuel consumption is one of the main contributors to operating cost. Compared to previous models, the new generation Scania Touring can save up to 6% on fuel and emissions – without compromising on performance. This is done through an improved powertrain efficiency and new features such as the Adaptive Cruise Control with Active Prediction.

“ We all know the importance of uptime to decrease cost and maximise income for our customers, and with the product design and new services, we see ourselves as the first choice ,” adds Allard. The design to facilitate maintenance, the high parts availability, and the new proactive uptime service – Scania Flexible Maintenance – help solidify Scania as the primary provider of uptime solutions. “ This service enables us to be as efficient as possible. ” By continually monitoring operational data, Scania Flexible Maintenance allows maintenance plans to be tailored according to the needs of each individual vehicle – avoiding operational disruptions.

The new Scania Zone enables real-time vehicle adjustments in predefined zones. The possibility to limit the speed of the vehicle in certain areas means that safety can be increased while keeping down emissions and noise.

“All in all, Scania Touring allows low-emission transport to go hand-in-hand with operating economy.”

During the ancient period (3.000-2.800 B.C.) the old harbor was used by the ancient Minoans, as a crossroad of all five Continents. Furthermore, this harbor hosted ancient Kydonia to the late 7th century A.D., one of the most important cities of ancient Crete, while it was conquered many times during the past by Romans, Byzantines, Venetians, Turks, Hebrews, Egyptians, and Arabs, till the end of the 19th century, when it was liberated. Finally, Chania – as well as the whole Crete - was united with independent Greece in 1913 with the significant help of the great Greek politician Eleftherios Venizelos.

One visit is simply not enough , because everytime you walk at the city and the countryside, you travel back in time, you live different experiences , and you constantly discover new striking views which remain engraved forever in your memories and in your heart. How to get to Chania

Chania has an  international airport  with scheduled flights year-round and abundant charter flights serving much of Europe during the season - April to October.

Ferries sail to and from Athens (Pireas) daily to the port of  Souda, a few kilometers away from Chania city center.

Places to see

During your visit you will have to see the old Town of Chania with its huddled streets of Byzantine , Venetian and Turkish remnants and the many small souvenir shops as well as have a lovely  lunch, dinner or coffee by the seaside watching over the famous Lighthouse.

If you are interested in archaeological sites and historical monuments Chania has much to offer such as the Ancient Aptera site above the Souda bay which was durind the Minoan Period one of the most important city-states of Crete. Moreover this place has an incredible view!!While strolling around the old city you can also visit the Grand Arsenal , the Firka Fortress, Giali Tzamisi , the Sabbionara Gate , the Byzantine Wall, the Municipal Market , the Minaret of Agios Nikolaos and of course the Egyptian Lighthouse .

A historical prespective of Chania would not be complete if you haven’t visited the Archaelogical Museum of Chania, the Folklore museum ,the Museum of Eleftherios Venizelos and the Nautical Museum .

After having discovered the cultural side of Chania it is time for the entertainment and activities .  Chania is famous for the entertainment particularly during summer months. The high spirit never stops here! The mood is getting better early in the morning at the beaches and beach bars ,that know how to make suitable atmosphere, so that each visitor can enjoy Cretan sun and the sea as much as possible.
