The Free Travel Scheme allows you to travel, free of charge, on public transport and some private bus and ferry services.

Everyone aged 66 and over, living permanently in Ireland, can get the Free Travel Scheme.

People with disabilities and carers aged under 66 may also qualify for Free Travel.

If you qualify for Free Travel and you are married, in a civil partnership or cohabiting, your partner may travel with you for free if you meet certain criteria (see ‘Spouses, civil partners and cohabitants’ below).

If you can’t travel alone for medical reasons, you may get Free Travel for a companion. This allows a person aged over 16 to travel with you for free.

Changes to the Free Travel Scheme in 2024

From 29 July 2024, you will qualify for the Free Travel Scheme if you are aged over 17 and under 66, and:

  • Have never been able to drive due to a disability
  • Have a driving licence and are medically certified as ‘not fit to drive’ for at least 12 months.

While the change won’t take effect until July, you can download and fill in an application form for Free Travel for people medically certified unfit to drive (FTM) (pdf) now.

In this case, your spouse, civil partner, or cohabitant cannot accompany you free of charge when travelling.

  • FT+S - your spouse, partner or cohabitant can travel with you for free
  • FT+C - you can have a person (over 16) travel with you for free

How to Get TSA PreCheck for Free

Here’s everything you need to know about PreCheck — plus how to get it for free.

Harrison Pierce is a freelance writer and digital nomad passionate about personal finance and travel. He is traveling full-time with the help of points and miles and enjoys connecting with people on the ground. His work has been published in Travel + Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler, USA Today Blueprint, Matador Network, and other publications.

TSA PreCheck Costs and Requirements

Frequent travelers have their airport routines down to a science. As a full-time digital nomad, I fly tens of thousands of miles each year, so I’ve experimented with many different ways to make flying as seamless as possible. With TSA PreCheck, you can breeze through security and board your plane just minutes after arriving at the airport. Here’s everything you need to know about TSA PreCheck — including how to get it for free.

TSA PreCheck is a popular program offered by the Transportation and Security Administration (TSA). Travelers enrolled in the program enjoy expedited security. You don’t have to take off your shoes, belts, or light jackets or remove electronics and small liquids from your carry-on baggage. According to the TSA, 99 percent of PreCheck passengers will get through security in 10 minutes or less. From personal experience, I’ve gotten through security in less than two minutes. Most often, it’s less than five, but this can vary depending on the airport.

TSA PreCheck is available at more than 200 airports nationwide and with more than 90 different airlines . To enroll, you must complete an application online , visit an enrollment location for fingerprinting, documentation, and payment, and then receive your Known Traveler Number (KTN). Once you have this number, you can add it to your future reservations with airlines, and TSA PreCheck will appear on your boarding pass.

There are new PreCheck enrollment partners to help combat the long wait times in processing applications and finding an in-person appointment. Depending on the provider, new applications will cost between $78 and $85, while renewals cost as low as $70.

U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, and citizens of partner countries enrolled in Global Entry, NEXUS, or SENTRI are eligible to participate in TSA PreCheck, as well as Canadian citizens who are members of NEXUS. You can be disqualified for several reasons, including anything that may arise from a criminal background check conducted as part of your application.

Global Entry is another Trusted Traveler Program that expedites re-entry into the U.S. from abroad. If you are enrolled in Global Entry, you use facial recognition software at Global Entry kiosks before speaking with a customs agent. I’ve had Global Entry for years, and it’s one of my favorite investments. It costs $100 to apply. The application fee and process for getting approved are slightly more strict and take longer, but it is worth the effort. Global Entry includes TSA PreCheck benefits.

There are dozens of cards that offer a reimbursement for the application fee for TSA PreCheck or Global Entry. If your card offers this benefit, you simply need to use your card when paying for the application fee, and you will be reimbursed within a few weeks as a statement credit on your account.

Be sure to read the terms and conditions of the benefit for your card, as most will only reimburse once every four to five years and might only cover TSA PreCheck, not Global Entry. Below is a list of all the cards that currently offer a statement credit for most or all of the application fee for TSA PreCheck, along with their annual fee.

Credit Cards With an Annual Fee Under $100:

  • Aeroplan® Credit Card: $95
  • Arvest Visa Signature® Credit Card: $0

  • Capital One Venture Card: $95

  • The Business Platinum Card® from American Express: $695
  • Capital One Spark Miles for Business: $0 introductory annual fee for the first year, then $95

I used my Capital One Venture Card to enroll in Global Entry in 2019. My renewal is coming up this year, so I’ll likely use my Capital One Venture X to pay the renewal fee . With so many cards offering this statement credit and wait times at airports continuing to increase as we move into summer, it would be foolish to let my membership lapse and not enjoy the many benefits of these programs.

If you have children 12 or under, they may accompany you in the TSA PreCheck lane without needing to be enrolled in the program themselves. Children aged 13 to 17 could join you in the PreCheck lane if the TSA PreCheck indicator appears on their boarding pass. If not, they will need to use the regular security lane. If children 17 or under travel by themselves, they must have their own membership to use the PreCheck lane.

Some loyalty programs, like United MileagePlus, IHG Rewards, and Marriott Bonvoy, will let you use points to cover the application fee for TSA PreCheck. However, this will not be the best valuation you can get from your points, so it would be better to use a credit card.

7 ways to get free or discounted TSA PreCheck, Global Entry and Clear

Caroline Tanner

As we head into the holiday season, there's no better time to arm yourself with tools to pass through the airport as quickly as possible — specifically the TSA security line at U.S. airports and the customs line when coming back from abroad.

I've written extensively about TSA PreCheck and Clear , both of which help travelers speed through TSA security.

PreCheck users pass through security using a dedicated line for PreCheck users only, in which they do not have to remove their shoes, laptop, liquids, belt or light jacket like passengers in the regular TSA line.

Like TSA PreCheck, Clear users also begin the security process in a Clear-only lane, where they are biometrically identified via fingerprint or iris scans, sparing them from having to show their ID anytime during security screening. Users are then taken to the front of the line for the security screening machines (either the front of the PreCheck screening line for those with Clear and PreCheck, or the front of the normal TSA screening line).

The third program, Global Entry , is useful for frequent international travelers, as it gives preapproved, low-risk travelers expedited clearance upon arrival to the U.S. from abroad. Global Entry users can enter the country through automated kiosks at 75-plus airports .

Enrollment in the three programs costs money, including an annual fee for Clear. Memberships to TSA PreCheck and Global Entry last five years each.

While these programs may be worth their retail price tags in their own right, there's no need to pay full price if you don't have to.

At TPG, we aim to help you save money when traveling. We do this by sharing which credit cards you should have in your wallet , explaining how to leverage airline and hotel elite status levels, and showing you the perks of those frequent flyer memberships — including how to enjoy these programs at a discounted rate or even for free.

So before enrolling in TSA PreCheck, Global Entry or Clear, keep reading this guide for seven ways to save money on their associated fees.

How much do TSA PreCheck, Global Entry and Clear cost?

Normally, a five-year membership to TSA PreCheck costs $78 to $85, while five years of Global Entry runs you $100.

Two providers manage TSA applications. You'll pay $78 to apply through IDEMIA and $85 through Telos . Renewing costs $70 if you do it online through either provider.

If you have a Global Entry membership, you also receive the benefits of TSA PreCheck. Essentially, you reap the benefits of both programs for an extra $22 every five years.

An annual membership to Clear is $189. Together, using all these programs can add up if you don't take advantage of available discounts and credits.

If you're not yet familiar with the details of these different programs, check out our guides to TSA PreCheck , Global Entry and Clear to find the right one(s) for your travel needs.

'Free' TSA PreCheck and Global Entry via credit cards

Currently, there are 39 cobranded airline, hotel and other credit cards offering up to $100 in statement credit reimbursement for the application fees associated with Global Entry or TSA PreCheck. This credit is typically available every four to five years, though you should check the terms for your specific card for the exact frequency.

Some of the cards conveying free TSA PreCheck and/or Global Entry are:

  • Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card
  • The Platinum Card® from American Express
  • United Explorer Card
  • Citi®/AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard® (see rates and fees )
  • Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card
  • Chase Sapphire Reserve
  • The Business Platinum Card® from American Express
  • Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card
  • Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card
  • Southwest Rapid Rewards® Performance Business Credit Card
  • United Club Infinite Card

See here for a complete list of credit cards that offer a discount for TSA PreCheck.

Your miles can pay for TSA PreCheck and Global Entry

In addition to the aforementioned cards offering credits for TSA PreCheck and Global Entry, some loyalty programs allow members to use points or miles in exchange for covering the membership fees. While these are options, the return per point is less than TPG point valuations , so they're not our top picks for ways to save on these memberships.

Those programs include:

  • Radisson Rewards Americas : Members can redeem 65,000 points for an $85 application credit to TSA PreCheck only
  • Orbitz Rewards: Platinum members get a free TSA PreCheck membership every five years
  • Marriott Bonvoy : Members can redeem 25,000 points for an $85 application credit
  • IHG One Rewards : Members can redeem 30,000 points for an $85 application credit
  • United MileagePlus : Members can redeem 10,000 miles for a TSA PreCheck membership

'Free' Clear memberships via credit cards

Since Clear costs $189 per year instead of $85 to $100 every five years, there aren't nearly as many credit cards that provide a free Clear Plus membership as there are with the others. However, there are a few options if you want your travel credit card to pay for your Clear Plus membership.

They include:

  • The Platinum Card from American Express
  • The Business Platinum Card from American Express
  • The Centurion Card from American Express
  • American Express® Green Card
  • Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card

Occasionally, there are targeted Amex Offers covering the cost of Clear Plus membership for those with different American Express cards, so keep your eyes peeled for limited-time offers like that.

The information for the Centurion, Green and Hilton Aspire cards has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

Credit cards that save you money on Clear

If you don't have a credit card that makes Clear completely free with statement credits, some additional credit cards can at least reduce your annual Clear membership cost:

  • All Delta SkyMiles cobranded Amex cards : $149 annual membership ($40 off the standard rate)
  • All United U.S. credit cards : $149 annual membership ($40 off the standard rate)

Save on Clear with a frequent flyer membership

United Airlines, Delta Air Lines and Alaska Airlines offer their frequent flyers free or discounted memberships to Clear.

Discounts from Delta SkyMiles

Top-tier Delta Diamond Medallion members can get Clear for free. The airline's Platinum, Gold and Silver Medallion members can pay a reduced price of $149. The same price applies to those without a Delta credit card .

All Delta SkyMiles members without elite status can get a discounted membership for $179 — a $10 discount.

Similarly, United's Premier 1K members are entitled to free memberships in Clear, while United MileagePlus Platinum, Gold and Silver members can pay $149. Those with a United credit card receive this same discount.

United MileagePlus members without status can access Clear for $179 per year.

Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members can enroll in Clear at a slightly discounted rate of $179 annually.

Mileage Plan members who sign up for Clear will also receive bonus miles: MVP, MVP Gold, MVP Gold 75K and MVP Gold 100K members will receive 1,500 miles, plus an additional 1,250 miles each year they renew.

Clear discounts for families and students

For families, children under 18 can pass through Clear with you for free without needing to scan their eyes or fingerprints.

College students can use a discounted student Clear rate of $60 per year for up to four years.

Clear also has a family plan , and you can add up to three adults to your primary membership for $99 per additional person per year without incurring another full $189 fee for each person every year.

Try Clear for free with a referral code

TPG readers can try Clear for free for two months before deciding if it's worth keeping. Fair warning: In my experience, once you go Clear, you never go back.

Bottom line

Not only do TSA PreCheck, Global Entry and Clear help travelers save time, it's possible to get memberships without breaking the bank. Before you sign up for one or more, see if you can get it for no cost or at a reduced cost through one of these methods.

  • Sign in to the Xfinity app using the Primary user’s Xfinity ID and password.
  • Select the Services tab.
  • Select the Mobile lines and data usage located within the Mobile services card.
  • Scroll to the Plan Features category, select Get Global Travel Pass and follow the prompts.

If you want to add Global Travel Pass to more than one phone line on your account, you can go back and repeat these steps for each line. Remember, your pass won't be activated until you use your phone abroad while in a covered country.

How does Global Travel Pass work?

  • Each active session covers a 24-hour period.
  • We’ll send you a free text message letting you know that your pass is active.
  • About an hour before your active session expires, we’ll send you another free reminder text message.
  • A new active session will start automatically if you call, text message, or use data after your current session expires.

What if I didn’t get Global Travel Pass before travel? When your device is enabled on an international network, you’ll get a notification saying whether the country is eligible for Global Travel Pass. If it is, you’ll be prompted to call 1-720-728-5462 toll free to add a pass or get a breakdown of the costs of calls, texts, and data. If the country is not eligible, you’ll just receive a notification breaking down the cost of calls, texts, and data.

Which countries are covered by Global Travel Pass? Global Travel Pass is currently available in over 170 countries . You’ll automatically be charged pay-as-you-go rates in countries where Global Travel Pass isn’t available.

Are cruise ships or airplanes covered by Global Travel Pass? No. Global Travel Pass does not cover usage on cruise ships or airplanes, but you can still pay as you go to talk, text message, and use data while aboard. To view rates, go to our international rate search and type in “Cruise Ships” or "Aircraft Service."

What happens if I travel to multiple countries during an active Global Travel Pass session? You can travel to any other country covered by Global Travel Pass during your 24-hour active session, and you’ll only be charged once. If you travel to a country that isn’t covered by Global Travel Pass during an active session, you’ll be charged the pay-as-you-go rate for that country.

What happens if I remove Global Travel Pass from a line? Removing Global Travel Pass from a line during an active session will prevent a new pass from starting. You can remove Global Travel Pass at any time to pay as you go for calls, text messages, and data while abroad.

Do I need to remove Global Travel Pass when I return home? There’s no need to remove Global Travel Pass once you return home, since you’ll only be charged for a pass during an active session when you call, text message, or use data abroad. Global Travel Pass can stay on your line until you’re ready to use it the next time you travel internationally. You can always remove Global Travel Pass at any time through your account online or through our app.

If I’ve used the maximum LTE data allowance for Global Travel Pass, can I get more? You get 512 MB of LTE data per pass. Once you’ve reached this limit, you’ll have data available for use at 2G speeds until a new pass activates. The data you use while abroad will count toward your By the Gig or Unlimited data option. If you need to use a lot of data while abroad, connecting to WiFi can give you faster speeds.

Can I add Global Travel Pass to my tablet or smartwatch with Xfinity Mobile? No. At this time, Global Travel Pass can only be added to mobile phone lines.

Will I be charged roaming data charges while connected to WiFi? Some Apple and Android devices can enable their WiFi Calling feature to make free international calls from anywhere in the world where WiFi is available.

Traveling internationally can often be a time-consuming and stressful process, particularly when it comes to passing through airport security. However, with the Trusted Traveler Program and Global Entry, travelers can enjoy a streamlined and efficient experience. One key component of this program is the Trusted Traveler Number (TTN), which serves as your unique identification when participating in the Global Entry program. In this article, we will explore what Trusted Traveler Number is and how it relates to Global Entry.

Global Entry is a program offered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that allows pre-approved travelers to expedite their entry into the United States. By providing a secure and convenient alternative to the traditional customs process, Global Entry has become a popular choice for frequent travelers.

When applying for Global Entry, travelers are issued a Trusted Traveler Number. This unique identification number serves as your official pass ID within the program. It will be linked to your personal information and eligible for expedited processing at participating airports.

The Trusted Traveler Number is primarily used during the booking and check-in process of your flights. When making reservations, it is important to enter your Trusted Traveler Number in the appropriate field, if prompted. This will ensure that your eligibility for Global Entry is recognized by the airline and airport authorities.

Benefits of having a Trusted Traveler Number

Having a Trusted Traveler Number offers various benefits, including:

  • Expedited customs clearance: With Global Entry, travelers can skip the long queues at customs and use self-service kiosks instead. By scanning their passport or permanent resident card, providing fingerprints, and answering a few questions, they can complete the process quickly and efficiently.
  • Access to TSA PreCheck: Global Entry members are also granted access to TSA PreCheck, a program that allows expedited security screening at participating U.S. airports. This means you can enjoy the convenience of keeping your shoes on, leaving your laptop in your bag, and avoiding the need to remove liquids and jackets during the security process.
  • Streamlined international travel: With a Trusted Traveler Number, you can save time and hassle when traveling internationally. Whether you're returning to the United States or departing to another country, Global Entry ensures a smooth experience through customs and immigration.

How to obtain a Trusted Traveler Number

To obtain a Trusted Traveler Number, you must first apply for Global Entry. The application process involves submitting an online application and paying a non-refundable fee. A background check will be conducted, and if approved, you will be invited to attend an in-person interview at a designated enrollment center.

During the interview, you will need to provide additional documentation, such as your passport and driver's license, as well as have your fingerprints taken. Once the interview is complete and your application is approved, you will receive your Trusted Traveler Number, which will be valid for five years.

If you frequently travel internationally and value efficiency and convenience, the Global Entry program with a Trusted Traveler Number is a must-have. By becoming a trusted traveler, you can enjoy expedited clearance at customs, access to TSA PreCheck, and a seamless travel experience. Applying for Global Entry is a straightforward process, and once you have your Trusted Traveler Number, you can start reaping the benefits immediately. So why not apply today and say goodbye to long lines and stressful travel experiences?

How to Obtain a Trusted Traveler Number for Global Entry

If you frequently travel internationally, going through long security lines at airports can be a hassle. However, there is a solution: Global Entry. Global Entry is a program offered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that allows pre-approved, low-risk travelers to expedite their clearance process when entering the United States. One of the key components of Global Entry is the Trusted Traveler number, which acts as your personal identification for the program. In this article, we will explain how you can obtain a Trusted Traveler number for Global Entry.

The first step in obtaining a Trusted Traveler number is to apply for Global Entry. To do this, you will need to create an account on the Trusted Traveler Programs (TTP) website. This account will serve as your portal for all Global Entry-related activities. Once you have created your account, you can begin the application process.

The Global Entry application requires you to provide personal information such as your name, address, and passport details. You will also need to answer a series of questions regarding your travel history, criminal record, and immigration status. Make sure to answer these questions honestly and accurately, as any discrepancies may result in your application being denied.

After submitting your application, you will need to pay a non-refundable application fee of $100. This fee is payable online and can be paid using a credit card or debit card. Once the payment has been processed, your application will be reviewed by CBP. This review process can take several weeks, so be patient.

If your application is conditionally approved, you will be notified via email. At this point, you will need to schedule an interview at a Global Entry Enrollment Center. During the interview, a CBP officer will verify your identity, review your application, and ask you additional questions. They may also take your photograph and collect your fingerprints for further verification.

After the interview, you can expect to receive your Trusted Traveler number within a few days. This number will be emailed to you, and you can also find it on your account dashboard on the TTP website. It is important to note that your Trusted Traveler number is not the same as your PASS ID. PASS ID is a separate identification number issued by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for domestic travel, whereas the Trusted Traveler number is specific to the Global Entry program.

Once you have your Trusted Traveler number, you can use it to expedite your entry into the United States at participating airports and border crossings. Simply provide your Trusted Traveler number to the CBP officer when you arrive, and they will be able to access your information quickly and efficiently.

In conclusion, obtaining a Trusted Traveler number for Global Entry is a straightforward process. By following the steps outlined in this article, you can enjoy the benefits of expedited clearance when entering the United States. So, if you are a frequent traveler who wants to avoid the hassle of long security lines, consider applying for Global Entry today.

Navigating from Phuket Airport to Ao Nang: A Complete Guide for Travelers

If you are a frequent traveler, you may have already heard about the Trusted Traveler Program, which aims to provide a more convenient and efficient travel experience. One of the benefits of being a trusted traveler is the ability to use your trusted traveler number as your pass ID. This can save you time and hassle at the airport, as well as provide added security and convenience.

So, what exactly is a trusted traveler number and how can you use it as your pass ID? Let's delve into the details.

A trusted traveler number is a unique identification number assigned to individuals who have successfully applied and been approved for a trusted traveler program like Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, NEXUS, or SENTRI. These programs are designed to expedite the security screening process for low-risk travelers, allowing them to pass through airport security more quickly and easily.

To obtain a trusted traveler number, you must first go through a rigorous application process, which includes background checks and interviews. Once approved, you will receive your unique trusted traveler number, which can be used across all participating trusted traveler programs.

Now that you understand the benefits, let's talk about how to use your trusted traveler number as your pass ID. When booking a flight or managing your travel details, you will often be asked for your passenger information, including your name and date of birth. In addition to this, you can provide your trusted traveler number as your pass ID.

The process may vary depending on the airline or travel agency you are using, but it generally involves entering your trusted traveler number in the appropriate field during the booking or check-in process. Once submitted, your trusted traveler number will be associated with your reservation and passed along to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) or other relevant authorities.

When you arrive at the airport, you can use your trusted traveler number to access expedited security screening lanes. Simply present your trusted traveler card, passport, or driver's license at the designated checkpoint, and provide your trusted traveler number when prompted. This will verify your enrollment in a trusted traveler program and grant you access to the expedited lanes.

It's important to note that while your trusted traveler number can be used as your pass ID, you should still carry your passport or other identification documents with you when traveling internationally. Your trusted traveler card or number is not a substitute for these documents and may be required at certain checkpoints.

In conclusion, by using your trusted traveler number as your pass ID, you can enjoy a smoother travel experience with expedited security screening and added convenience. Remember to apply for a trusted traveler program, obtain your unique trusted traveler number, and provide it when booking your flights. So, the next time you travel, make sure to take advantage of this time-saving and hassle-free option.

How to Keep Enchiladas Warm or Hot When Traveling

If you frequently travel internationally and are tired of waiting in long lines at the airport, enrolling in the Global Entry program could be the solution you've been looking for. Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program that allows low-risk travelers to expedite their clearance process when returning to the United States from abroad. One of the key benefits of Global Entry is the trusted traveler number, which serves as your pass ID and can provide a range of advantages.

Here's a closer look at the benefits and advantages of having a trusted traveler number in Global Entry:

  • Expedited Clearance: When you have a trusted traveler number, you can use dedicated Global Entry kiosks at participating airports. These kiosks allow you to bypass regular customs and immigration lines, saving you valuable time. Instead of waiting in long queues, you can complete your clearance process in just a few minutes, allowing you to quickly and conveniently get on your way.
  • Streamlined Security Procedures: In addition to faster customs and immigration clearance, having a trusted traveler number can also expedite your security procedures at some airports. Many airports in the United States have integrated Global Entry with the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) PreCheck program, allowing eligible travelers to enjoy expedited security screening. This means you won't have to remove your shoes, belt, or light jacket, and you can leave your laptop and liquids in your carry-on bag.
  • Access to NEXUS and SENTRI: Your trusted traveler number not only grants you access to Global Entry, but also to two other CBP programs - NEXUS and SENTRI. NEXUS allows expedited clearance for pre-approved travelers entering the United States or Canada, while SENTRI provides expedited clearance for pre-approved travelers entering the United States from Mexico. With your trusted traveler number, you can enjoy the benefits of these programs and save even more time when traveling to these countries.
  • Increased Traveler Confidence: Having a trusted traveler number can also give you peace of mind when traveling. By enrolling in Global Entry, you have undergone a thorough background check and have been deemed a low-risk traveler by CBP. This means that you can trust that your travel details are being securely stored and handled, providing you with an added layer of security.
  • Mobile Passport Control: Another advantage of having a trusted traveler number is the eligibility to use the Mobile Passport Control (MPC) app. This app allows you to submit your customs declaration and passport information electronically while you are on your way back to the United States. By using this app, you can save even more time and avoid filling out paper forms at the airport.

In conclusion, obtaining a trusted traveler number through Global Entry comes with a slew of benefits and advantages. From expedited clearance and streamlined security procedures to access to other CBP programs and increased traveler confidence, having a trusted traveler number can significantly enhance your travel experience. So if you're a frequent international traveler, consider enrolling in Global Entry and reap the rewards of this trusted traveler program.

MSA Free Travel Pass Program

The MSA has partnered with PTV to become an eligible issuer of 7-Day Travel Passes, helping to make it easier for students to engage with their education.

If you have any questions, get in touch with us at [email protected]

How it Works

The MSA has been working hard to alleviate the increasing cost of living pressures students have been experiencing. Part of this work includes expanding existing welfare initiatives and creating new ones.

We understand that often public transport is inaccessible, can add time to your journey and at times is unaffordable.

To try remove as many barriers as possible and to ensure you can still engage with your education, the MSA has partnered with PTV to become an eligible issuer of 7-Day Travel Passes.

Applications for semester one 2024 are now closed.

Sign up below and we'll notify you when the PTV Travel Pass Program launches for semester two.

From Monday the 29th of April, students experiencing financial hardship can apply for travel assistance through the MSA Travel Pass Program.

An MSA issued Travel Pass will provide you with 7 days of free travel on trains, buses and trams state wide - ensuring you can get to where you need, when you need.

This program is currently in a trial period. The MSA will use this trial period to assess demand and the continued feasibility of the program.

1) How do I use the Travel Pass?

Students must always carry the Travel Pass when traveling on public transport or entering a compulsory ticket area. To use the pass, simply:

  • show the Travel Pass to a barrier attendant when entering or leaving a compulsory ticket area through a staffed ticket barrier at a railway station.
  • show the Travel Pass to the driver on buses and coaches.

2) What modes of public transport can I use the Travel Pass on?

Students can use their Travel Pass on all PTV contracted public transport services within Victoria including:

  • any metropolitan bus, train, and tram service (zone 1 and 2).
  • regional town and intertown bus (myki and non-myki enabled) services.
  • V/Line coaches and trains (economy class only) services.

3) Can I apply for another Travel Pass?

Students are welcome to apply for another Travel Pass, however due to the limited number of passes available, MSA may prioritise students who have not previously received a Travel Pass before.

4) How long is my Travel Pass valid for?

MSA Travel Passes commence on the date you have requested and are valid for 7-days including that date.

5) Where can I collect my Travel Pass?

Once you have received an approval email, you can collect your Travel Pass from the MSA Recreational Library (SURLY) on Level 1 of the Campus Centre during their opening hours.

6) Can I collect my Travel Pass outside of the times indicated in the email?

Yes, please email [email protected] to make alternate arrangements.

Unfortunately, due to the limited availability of passes during this trial and the high anticipated volume of applications, we will be unable to accommodate every request.

Please ensure you have allowed sufficient time for your application to be assessed, we recommend submitting your application at least 7 working days prior to when you require the Travel Pass.

Applications will be assessed on a case by case basis and priority will be given to those who haven’t applied before.

5 Interesting Bits Of Information That You Never Knew Your Boarding Pass Showed

  • The sequence number on a boarding pass indicates the passenger's boarding order, which can affect seat selection on certain airlines.
  • The SSSS number on a US boarding pass signifies that the passenger has been selected for additional security screening.
  • Group numbers on boarding passes indicate when passengers should proceed to the gate for boarding, based on factors such as airline status or disabilities.

When preparing for air travel, two of the most essential items are a passport and a boarding pass. A boarding pass serves as the document granting a passenger access to board their flight.

It always contains sensitive details, including the booking code, passenger name, date, flight number, and class of travel, among other sensitive information. However, some intriguing pieces of information are concealed within the boarding pass. Here, we will delve into five of these details.

At the bottom of your boarding pass , you can come across a marker known as the 'sequence' or 'SEQ.' This element provides passengers with information about their boarding order relative to others on the same flight. If your sequence number, for instance, is SEQ/025, this indicates that you were the 25th person to check in.

Sometimes, the order in which you check in can be significant. Certain airlines, often low-cost carriers, assign seats on a first-come, first-served basis. Consequently, if you check in last, you are more likely to end up with a less desirable seat.

Occasionally, situations may arise where a flight is overbooked, and passengers who cannot be accommodated on that flight are offered an alternative flight along with compensation. However, if no passengers volunteer to take the later flight, those who are typically traveling alone and often check in last may not secure a seat on the plane. It's important to note that such instances are rare, and various airlines have their own procedures for handling such situations.

When traveling in the United States, you may encounter a mysterious SSSS number on your boarding pass. SSSS stands for 'Secondary Security Screening Selection.' While it can be somewhat inconvenient, this code simply indicates that you have been chosen for additional security screening procedures.

If you find yourself with this SSSS designation, be prepared to allocate an extra 15 to 20 minutes for the security screening process. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) doesn't disclose the exact criteria for selection. Still, it appears that factors such as unusual travel itineraries, originating from high-risk countries, booking last-minute flights, or taking one-way international flights can trigger this designation.

Group number

Some airlines, such as Finnair or Air Canada, have implemented group boarding to make the boarding process more seamless and reduce congestion. Therefore, whether your boarding pass is electronic or printed on paper, you may come across a numerical designation, such as "Group 1" or "Group 2," which indicates when you should proceed to the gate.

Boarding groups are typically assigned during check-in or based on factors such as airline status, disabilities, or family travel. Group one usually consists of first class and club members who board first, whereas groups four and five generally signify economy class and board last.

Frequent flyer number

Rarely, though, a few airlines may display a frequent flyer number on the boarding pass. Typically, there will be some hint of the presence of a frequent flyer number assigned to the passenger, possibly even indicating their status, but it is common for the number to either be absent or obscured in some way.

However, in response to recent cybersecurity risks, some airlines have begun to withhold frequent flyer numbers from their boarding passes. For instance, as of August 2023, American Airlines initiated a practice of redacting frequent flyer numbers from their boarding passes, according to View From The Wing.

Your boarding pass may also feature certain letters that convey additional information. For instance, the abbreviation S/O indicates the presence of a stopover or layover in your itinerary. Meanwhile, SPTC is indicative of a lengthy layover, suggesting a longer duration between connecting flights, according to a report by Sophia CA Travel.

In situations involving lengthy layovers, it is worth noting that some airlines offer accommodation to passengers during these extended waiting periods. S/O and SPTC are typically located at the bottom of the boarding pass, often close to the SSSS number.

Even if we aren't going on a HIS tour, we wanted to rent their pocket WIFI, but it was all sold out. I tried to order it through their site for pick up in Japan but being a "dinosaur ", had a difficult time or was on a wrong site. Went to Mika Hibi at Ala Moana and she was so patient helping me do the on line rental. I forgot that I needed the address of our Tokyo Hotel but she was able to figure it out before I finally found it. She was so professional and pleasant. The WIFI rental of 2 units was also very reasonable compared to what my brief research found. I will definitely recommend them!

When you need that something to make your vacay say hey! Traveling to Japan makes it so much fun and less stressful with the help from HIS as not only they have fun travel packages, flight and all the usual bookings to complete your travel plans but so much more than you realize. Relocated from Don Quijote to Ala Moana Center right outside Makai Market beside the escalator which I do love as it's a bit more spacious and does offer some Japanese snacks and various merchandise, the staff here is friendly though some does give a feeling of bleh... As soon as I book my flight what you need to do immediately is reserve a WiFi device as it gets sold out very fast as is very much needed whenever you're doing a search for train routes and is amazing with unlimited data and are able to connect multiple devices. Plans go by 7, 14, 21 and 30 days for the basic though I always go with the Premium which comes insurance and external batter for just $5-$10 extra. As we come out of Covid the airport transfer I used to purchase in advance here is no longer available not by HIS but offered by the vendor in Japan so I'll decided that upon arrival but one thing that will certainly change is the JR Rail Pass which will drastically increase +70% and with the incredible yen rate I've decided to purchase the rail pass before the huge increase. You do need to bring your passport to purchase JR Rail pass and the increase will take place Oct 1st 2023 so get it in September and you're able to hold on to it for 90 before you need to redeem it in Japan. Follow them on Instagram @hishawaii as they to have a link to their site with all information and JR Rail prices as well and even some activities in Japan or any advice you may need regarding Japan. Thank you!

We've used the pocket wifi from HIS for several of our trips and it works great! The battery life is about 8 hours, so you should get an external battery so you won't be stuck without data. Reserving, picking up and returning the device was super easy and hassle free. I'd suggest you reserve it early as it looks like they do sell out since it seems like many people are going to Japan now. Just a heads up, I mistakenly thought it would work in Korea, but it didn't. It just works in Japan.

1-22-23 Never knew about this Travel agency until I read Yelp Elite Jo's review. Looking at center stage at Ala Moana it is on the left a few doors down from Cookie Corner. 4 of us went in to purchase rail tickets: hubs, myself, Bud & his mom. We met with Daniel. He was very polite, full of knowledge and shared insights on our travel plans. We decided on the 5 day Kansai Area Pass. We purchased enough for 6. He printed out pages that we will turn in at a Japan train station. He explained the reserved seats process if we all wanted to be seated together. There were no chairs in front of his station at the back of the store so he kindly carried 2 chairs for Bud and I to sit on. It seemed like his station was where payments were taken. It was a bit of a hassle for the gentleman in front of his station to go in and out from his own desk but we kept saying gomenasai. There is one more desk at the front of the shop seated by a woman. She had several sales from walk-ins buying things like slings(bags) by guys and other items as there is a variety of merchandise for sale. You can hear English as well as Japanese being spoken. It took pretty much an hour to purchase our passes. I'm so glad I stopped at Yomie's first cuz by the time we passed again they were closing up. You can even order WiFi units to be delivered to your hotel in Japan. Earlier Daniel even offered suggestions for hotels close to the station cuz every step counts when you have a full schedule with kiddies and seniors. Need help with planning your vacation to Japan? You might be very happy to meet with Daniel too. You can email him also.

Now that Japan is now open you might of went to Kaheka St and looked for HIs which was next to Don Quijote like me and found that they moved. Well they moved to Ala Moana Shopping Center on the ground floor near the Makai Market Food Court. So you want to go visit the land of the rising sun. The land where there is so many things to do, see and eat. Hmmmm sake and sushi, how could you go wrong?!?!?! Well let's say this is your first time or you have questions on what to do, how to get to places, etc. the people here probably can help you to see if you need to buy the rail pass, which one and so forth. You can also get a pocket wifi so you will always be connected. You will be able to access your apps like Google maps, Line to call your friends and family for free. Download and use the Transite app to see when and where the trains are running. I highly suggest getting a backup battery charger as it would be so junk to run out of juice and get lost. So come over here to get your Japan on!

Located between the food court and center stage in the Ala Moana Shopping Center. We got lucky when we went to get our rail pass fir Japan. He took the time to calculate the best deal for us. FYI if you're goingv Japan, you'll need a copy of your passport and dates of travel and where you are going. Rail vouchers can be purchased 90 days before you travel to Japan.

My reason for giving HIS Ala Moana two starts is because the service there were terrible! Except for my first time buying the JR line pass, the lady that helped me was very helpful and nice. I would've given this place a one start but because of my first time experience, I rate it two starts. When I went back to the store for the Osaka Universal studio tickets and to asked a few questions. The guy that worked there turned me away and literally told me he have no time! He said he was helping other clients and have no time for me. Unbelievable! There are so many way for him to say that's he's busy and I'm wailing to wait.... This is so disappointing. I would not recommend anyone to go to HIS again, I don't want anyone to experience what I went through.

Purchased rail passes here. I appreciate that they still serviced me despite being 15 minutes before they were closing.

Morning Rundown: Russia may be trying to scare people away from the Olympics, Trump warns of 'breaking point' if he gets jail time, and 30 barrier-breaking LGBTQ leaders

Donald Trump was convicted on felony charges. Will he go to prison?

A New York jury's historic conviction of Donald Trump on felony charges means his fate is now in the hands of the judge he has repeatedly ripped as "corrupt" and "incompetent."

Two experts told NBC News that it's unlikely Trump will be imprisoned based on his age, lack of a criminal record and other factors — and an analysis of thousands of cases found that very few people charged with the same crime receive jail time. But a third expert told NBC News he believes it is "substantially" likely Trump could end up behind bars.

Trump was convicted on 34 counts of falsifying business records , a class E felony that is punishable by a fine, probation or up to four years in prison per count. During the trial, Judge Juan Merchan threatened to put Trump behind bars for violating his gag order, but it’s unclear whether the former president will face similar consequences now. It's expected that any sentence would be imposed concurrently, instead of consecutively.

Former federal prosecutor Chuck Rosenberg, an NBC News analyst, said it's unlikely that Merchan would sentence Trump, 77, to any jail time, given his age and his status as a first-time, nonviolent offender. "I’d be very surprised if there's any sentence of incarceration at all," Rosenberg said. “Of course, he did spend a good bit of time insulting the judge who has the authority to incarcerate him.”

The next step for Trump at this point is his sentencing, which is set for July 11. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg would not comment Thursday on what type of sentence he’d seek, saying his office would do its speaking in court papers in the weeks ahead.

Arthur Aidala, a former prosecutor in the Brooklyn district attorney's office who's now a defense lawyer, said the judge will most likely use some of the time before sentencing to research similar cases to determine what the median sentence is.

"He wants to know before he sentences someone what the typical sentence is," Aidala said, and would consider other factors, like Trump's age and lack of a criminal record, while also taking into account the lack of injury caused by the crime. Aidala said he believes whatever punishment Merchan comes up with would be "a non-jail disposition."

An analysis conducted by Norm Eisen, who worked for House Democrats during Trump’s first impeachment, found that roughly 1 in 10 people who have been convicted of falsifying business records are imprisoned and that those cases typically involved other crimes.

Ron Kuby, a veteran New York criminal defense lawyer, took a different view.

“Judge Merchan is known for being a harsh sentencer when it comes to white-collar crimes committed by people who have wealth and privilege and power,” he said.

Kuby added he believes "it is substantially likely Judge Merchan will sentence Trump to jail or prison time," despite the logistical and practical complications that locking up a person with Secret Service protection would entail.

Kuby said that's because the criminal scheme went on for over a year and included a number of bad acts on Trump's part.

“It’s an entire course of conduct he was involved with — not just one bad decision,” he said.

Trump, however, most likely doesn't have to worry about missing the Republican National Convention, where he's expected to accept the party's nomination, even though it's taking place just days after his sentencing. Kuby said he'd most likely be able to remain free while he appeals the conviction.

Trump's behavior during the trial, including his flouting Merchan's gag order by making comments about witnesses and the jury, isn't likely to be a factor in the sentencing decision, Kuby said. It's also highly unlikely that comments that appeared to be aimed at sidestepping the gag order by Republican officials who attended the trial as Trump's guests will figure into Merchan's reasoning, Kuby added.

"If the judge is smart, he'd stay away from that," Kuby said. "The best way for judges not to get reversed in a sentencing is to stick to the facts and circumstances of the crimes and conviction."

Rosenberg said that despite Trump’s frequent criticisms of Merchan, which he likened to “a batter who’s been yelling at the umpire from before the first pitch,” Merchan appeared to run “a clean and fair trial.”

Rosenberg and Kuby agreed that Trump would appeal the verdict. Kuby said that could delay Trump's serving whatever punishment Merchan doles out for years, even if the appeal is ultimately unsuccessful.

His first appeal will be to the state Appellate Division, a midlevel appeals court, and it will almost certainly not decide the appeal until after the November election, Kuby said. If he loses there, he could then appeal to the state's highest court, the Court of Appeals. A loss there would be followed by a request to the U.S. Supreme Court to hear the case.

If all that fails, Kuby said, he could then try turning to federal court in another attempt to eventually get the case before the Supreme Court.

The appeals process typically takes a long time — Kuby said he had one client who staved off prison time for six years — but there's another potential complicating factor in this case.

"If he becomes president of the United States, he cannot be incarcerated in a state prison" while he's in office, Kuby said, because it could prevent him from fulfilling his constitutional duties. If he lost his appeals, "by the time he leaves office — if he leaves office — he'd be ready to be incarcerated," he said.

Q&A on Trump’s Criminal Conviction

By Robert Farley , D'Angelo Gore , Lori Robertson and Eugene Kiely

Posted on May 31, 2024

Este artículo estará disponible en español en El Tiempo Latino .

Donald Trump became the first U.S. president, current or former, to be convicted of a criminal offense when a 12-person jury in New York on May 30 found him guilty on 34 felony counts of business fraud as part of an illegal scheme to influence the 2016 election by making payments to suppress a sordid tale of sex with a porn star.

The unprecedented conviction raises questions about what’s next for the 77-year-old man who is in line to become the Republican Party’s nominee for president in 2024.

In remarks at Trump Tower a day after his conviction, Trump called the United States “ a corrupt country ” and declared that he would be “ appealing this scam .”

(Trump also repeated many of the false, misleading and unsupported claims he has made about the judge, the judge’s rulings, the district attorney and other issues related to the trial. For more about Trump’s talking points, see our May 30 article, “ Trump’s Repeated Claims on His New York Hush Money Trial .” He also repeated false and unsubstantiated claims on other issues, such as taxes and migrants .)

Here, we answer some of the questions raised by the former president’s conviction:

What are the next steps in the case? What punishment could Trump face? Will he go to prison? Can Trump vote in the 2024 election? Can a felon run for president, hold office? Can Trump pardon himself on this conviction, if he wins?

What are the next steps in the case?

Sentencing and an appeal are up next in this case.

Sentencing by Justice Juan Merchan is scheduled for July 11. Before that date, a probation officer or someone in that department will interview Trump, and potentially others involved in the case or connected to Trump, and prepare  a pre-sentence report  for the judge. The report includes the personal history and criminal record of the defendant, and it recommends what sentence the defendant should receive, according to the New York State Unified Court System.

“The pre-sentence interview is a chance for the defendant to try to make a good impression and explain why he or she deserves a lighter punishment,” the state court system explains.

Trump’s lawyers have to wait until after the sentencing to appeal the conviction. First, Trump’s lawyers will file motions before the judge “in a couple weeks” saying why they found the trial to be “unfair,” Trump’s defense attorney Todd Blanche  told CNN  hours after the guilty verdict.

free travel pass number

Cheryl Bader , a clinical associate professor of law at Fordham University School of Law, said these motions are typical when a defendant is convicted. The defense attorneys will ask the judge to overturn the jury’s conviction. “It’s rarely, rarely granted, and I don’t think there’s a chance that will happen in this case,” she told us in a phone interview.

Blanche told CNN that if the motions aren’t successful, “then as soon as we can appeal, we will. And the process in New York is there’s a sentencing, and then — and then we appeal from there.”

Bader, a former assistant U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey, walked us through the appeals process. “The case is considered completed at sentencing,” she said. “At that point, his lawyers file a notice of appeal … letting the court know that he intends to appeal.”

At that point, they will also request a “stay” on the sentence, meaning a pause on imposing the sentence while the case is being appealed.

This appeal goes to the  Appellate Division, First Judicial Department  in Manhattan. The appeals court doesn’t retry the case. “They’re not going to substitute their judgment on the facts for the jury’s judgment,” Bader explained. Instead, “they’re looking for where there was error that would have led to an improper prosecution or an unfair trial.”

The appeals process would take several months to a year, she said. After the notice of appeal is given, the record of the case is gathered, including trial transcripts, the indictment, pretrial motions, evidentiary rulings, jury selection and instructions, and more. Trump could also appeal the sentencing. The lawyers need to write their arguments for all of the issues they’re objecting to, and that takes time, Bader said.

And then the appeals court needs to consider the case and write a decision on it.

If Trump ultimately isn’t successful at the appellate level, he can appeal to the highest court in New York state, which is called the  Court of Appeals . But the court decides whether or not it takes the case.

After such an appeal to the highest state court, the case would be over — unless Trump tries to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. But there has to be a U.S. constitutional issue for that. “I don’t see one,” Bader said, but perhaps Trump’s lawyers would try to make an argument.

What punishment could Trump face? Will he go to prison?

Whether Trump is sentenced to any time in prison is up to the judge.

Each of the 34 counts of  falsifying business records in the first degree , a class E felony, carries a maximum sentence of up to  four years in prison . The judge could decide to impose the sentences consecutively or simultaneously. However, under New York law,  20 years  is the maximum prison time that Trump could get — not 187 years, as Trump  falsely claimed  in his May 31 remarks.

Norman Eisen , a CNN legal analyst and a senior fellow in governance studies for the Brookings Institution, said that “in the most serious” cases of business records falsification in New York that he studied, “a sentence of imprisonment was routinely imposed.” Trump’s case “is the most serious one in NY history,”  he wrote  on X, predicting that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin “Bragg will likely ask for incarceration & Merchan will consider it.”

free travel pass number

While possible, Bader, with Fordham’s School of Law, told us she doesn’t think incarceration will happen.

For a first-time convicted felon, with a low-level, nonviolent felony and a person of advanced age, “under any circumstance like that, there’d be a relatively low chance of incarceration,” she said.

“On the other hand, I could see the prosecutor arguing that here’s a man who has shown disrespect for the court system and the rule of law and has violated the court’s orders on numerous occasions. He is not remorseful. And that in order to promote general deterrence, he needs to be punished,” she said in describing a possible argument from the prosecutor.

Bader said any incarceration sentence “would be only a token amount of time to make the point that Trump is not above the law.” Other sentencing possibilities include probation or a “conditional discharge” with conditions other than incarceration or probation.

The “simplest” option might be for the judge to fine Trump, she said.

Can Trump vote in the 2024 election?

Yes, Trump can vote as long as he is not in jail on Election Day, which this year is on Nov. 5.

Trump owns homes in New York and Florida, but in 2019 he changed his primary residence to Florida. However, Florida law does not apply in Trump’s case because he was convicted in New York. Instead, New York law applies.

“If you were convicted outside Florida, your voting rights are governed by the state where you were convicted,” as the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida explains on its website.

In 2021, New York state enacted a law that “restores the right to vote for a person convicted of a felony upon release from incarceration, regardless of if they are on parole or have a term of post-release supervision,” the New York State Board of Elections says . “If a convicted felon is not incarcerated, they are eligible to register to vote.”

Can a felon run for president, hold office?

Yes. According to Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the U.S. Constitution, there are three qualifications to serve as president: He or she must be at least 35 years old upon taking office, a U.S. resident for at least 14 years and a “natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States.”

“These qualifications are understood to be exclusive,” Josh Chafetz , a Georgetown University law professor, told us last year when we were writing about Trump’s federal indictment related to allegations of mishandling sensitive classified documents after he left office. “Anyone can be president so long as they meet the constitutional qualifications and do not trigger any constitutional disqualifications.”

“Someone can run for president while under indictment or even having been convicted and serving prison time,” said Chafetz, who pointed to the example of Eugene V. Debs, the late labor leader, who, in 1920, ran for president from prison on the Socialist Party ticket and got almost 1 million votes.

There is an exception to that rule. The Constitution says in Section 3 of the 14th Amendment that no U.S. officeholder, including the president, can serve if they are convicted of “engag[ing] in insurrection or rebellion” against the U.S. — something Trump has not been charged with either in this case or the three others he faces.

Six Colorado voters successfully sued in state court to prevent Trump from appearing on that state’s ballot, citing the constitutional amendment barring insurrectionists from holding federal office. But the U.S. Supreme Court reversed the state ruling, “[b]ecause the Constitution makes Congress, rather than the States, responsible for enforcing Section 3 against federal officeholders and candidates.”

Can Trump pardon himself on this conviction, if he wins?

The short answer is no.

Trump was convicted in New York for offenses in violation of state law. Article II, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution states that a president has the “[p]ower to grant reprieves and pardons for offences against the United States.” According to Constitution Annotated , a government-sanctioned record of the interpretations of the Constitution, that means the power extends to “federal crimes but not state or civil wrongs.”

In a case decided in 1925, Ex parte Grossman , the U.S. Supreme Court confirmed that interpretation, writing that the Constitution’s language specifying presidential pardon power for offenses “against the United States” was “presumably to make clear that the pardon of the President was to operate upon offenses against the United States as distinguished from offenses against the States.”

The New York governor has the power to pardon Trump for his conviction of crimes under state law. That’s currently Gov. Kathy Hochul, a Democrat. After the verdict, Republican Rep. Nick LaLota called on Hochul “to immediately announce her intention to pardon President Trump and pre-emptively commute any sentence. To not do so is to allow America to become a banana republic.” Hochul released a statement on May 30 saying, “Today’s verdict reaffirms that no one is above the law.”

Tips on using verizon travelpass (1:00).

Verizon TravelPass Hi there! If you're planning on traveling abroad, we have a few simple tips to help you get the most out of your Verizon phone and your TravelPass. Make sure you enable roaming before you go, so that you can use data and voice services internationally. Go to settings, select cellular, then roaming, and make sure data and voice roaming are turned on. Remember, it may take up to three minutes for your phone to connect to local networks. If you experience service issues, be sure to turn your device off, then back on. This is a simple, yet effective way to reconnect your device to the international network while traveling. Making calls while outside the US will always need the international access code followed by a country code, and then the number you're calling. So on your iPhone, hold down the zero until you see the plus sign appear, enter the country code, then dial the number you want to call. And if you call a contact stored on your phone, double check that you've included the "+" and the country code. For more travel tips from Verizon, follow the link below: www.go.vzw.com/traveltips That's all for now! Enjoy your trip!
