The eagles announce “the long goodbye” – the band’s final tour.

"The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds. Credit and thanks go to our longtime management team, our dedicated road crew, and our exceptional backup musicians for providing skilled and steadfast support, throughout these many years. We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful. Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle. The official farewell tour is currently in the planning stages. We want to give all our fans a chance to see us on this final round.  So, scheduling information will be released as dates are set. The difficulties of booking venues for multiple nights may require us to return to certain cities, depending on demand.  But, we hope to see as many of you as we can, before we finish up. Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.”

With love and gratitude, The Eagles

After more than 50 years of touring, and consistently selling out arenas and stadiums worldwide, the Eagles will embark on their final tour, “The Long Goodbye”.

Presale tickets and VIP packages will be available starting Wednesday, July 12 for all announced shows. The general on-sale will start Friday, July 14 at 10:00 AM local time.

Elton John leaves the door open for performing after final tour stop

The rock legend bid his touring career farewell in an emotional speech during his final show in stockholm, sweden this past weekend.

Elton John

One of music’s greatest living legends has taken his final bow. After an over 52-year career spanning countless performances and over 40 albums, Elton John has bid farewell to the stage. The “ Rocket Man ” singer played his final performance this weekend in Stockholm, Sweden, capping off a 330-show farewell tour—appropriately titled Farewell Yellow Brick Road—that has been running for almost five years. The tour, which began September 2018, paused for nearly two years due to the pandemic.

Before performing his final song (“ Goodbye Yellow Brick Road ,” of course), John thanked his fans in an emotional speech that began with an incredible, personal touch of shouting out specific audience members who had attended a record number of performances over the years—one as high as 215 shows. “It’s an amazing, amazing...” he began, before falling into a literal loss for words.

“I’ve had the most wonderful career, beyond belief,” he continued. “52 years of pure joy playing music—how lucky am I to play music—but you know, I wouldn’t be sitting here and talking to you if it wasn’t for you. You bought the singles, the albums, the CDs, the cassettes, but more importantly, you bought the tickets to the shows.”

He continued: “You know how much I love to play live. It’s been my lifeblood to play for you guys, and you’ve been absolutely magnificent. Thank you. I will never forget you guys. I’ve played so many concerts, how could I forget. You’re in my head, and my heart and my soul.”

After leaving the door open for a potential “one-off” performance in the future and profusely thanking his family and crew, John launched into the song with a hardy, “here we go,” accompanied by a compilation of clips of him throughout the years, including photos of the artist as a young boy at the piano and iconic concert moments throughout his career.

You can watch the full fan-recorded video of John’s speech and “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” performance below.

Elton John preformed to over 6 million fans across 330 shows in his farewell tour.

With glitz, glam and golden confetti, Elton John performed on tour for the last time on Saturday.

The final concert was set in Stockholm, Sweden. It wrapped up the British singer's "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour, which spanned over five years, 330 shows and 16 Gucci suits. The tour is considered the highest-grossing in Billboard Boxscore history. Last month, it became the first tour ever to make more than $900 million.

"What a journey this tour has been and now we find ourselves at the end of it," John wrote on Instagram before the show.

The show included several of John's signature songs, including Tiny Dancer, Rocket Man and Candle in the Wind.

In heart-shaped pink sunglasses, he thanked his fans for their support throughout the decades.

"You have no idea what it means to me, your kindness. I've had the most wonderful career," he said. "How lucky am I to play music. But I wouldn't be sitting here and talking to you if it wasn't for you."

The worldwide, farewell tour kicked off in 2018, but was forced to pause in 2020 for nearly two-years due to the pandemic. Last month, the 76-year-old gave his final U.K. performance while headlining the Glastonbury Festival.

In 2021, the international pop star told NPR that he looked forward to retiring from tour so that he could spend more time with his children.

"Ten years ago, I was going to just tour and make records. And I had nothing planned for the rest of my life except making music and touring," John said. "And then we had two fabulous little boys. And then David, my husband, said, well, what do you want out of life now? Do you still want to tour? I said, no, I don't."

He later said, "As much as I love playing, I want to be with my boys now. I want to be there for them."

The Eagles announced Thursday that they will be going on their final tour in the fall with 13 stops planned with Steely Dan.

“The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals, and setbacks of many kinds. Credit and thanks go to our longtime management team, our dedicated road crew, and our exceptional backup musicians for providing skilled and steadfast support, throughout these many years. We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful. Our long-run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed,” the Eagles said on Facebook.

The band announced its first 12 arenas for the tour, which starts at Madison Square Garden in New York on Sept. 7. The band said that the official farewell tour is still in the planning stages. Only one show per venue is planned, but the Eagles said that they “will perform as many shows in each market as their audience demands,” according to Rolling Stone.

The tour is expected to continue into 2025, making this the first leg of the farewell tour, Variety reported. Other stops so far include Cleveland; Charlotte, North Carolina; Atlanta and many others.

The current Eagles — Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Vince Gill and Deacon Frey — will be part of the final tour, according to Rolling Stone.

“This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on,” the Eagles said.

Tickets go on sale July 14 at 10 a.m. local time. More information about the tour and buying tickets can be found on the Eagles’ website.

Trending on Billboard

Sunday’s show, which was attended by Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger, was his seventh at Dodger Stadium, dating back to his now iconic performances in October 1975 when the sparkly Dodger uniform (hence the homages in the audience) made its first appearance, and his 103 rd  in the Los Angeles area. John noted it was the 271 st  show of the Farewell Yellow Brick Show outing, which began in 2018.

The sun may have gone down on the last U.S. show, but the tour will continue through July 2023 stopping in Australia, New Zealand and Europe. By October, the show had already grossed more than $660 million from over 250 U.S. shows.  By the time the tour ends, it will undoubtedly surpass U2’s 360 Tour to be the second highest grossing tour in Billboard Boxscore history. The only question is if it can capture Ed Sheeran’s The Divide Tour , which earned $776.4 million.

Billboard Boxscore doesn’t span John’s entire touring life, but in the three decades it has been collecting data, John has grossed more than $1.7 billion to make him the highest grossing solo act in the chart’s history.

But the numbers are only part of the story. John has been a consistently magnificent live performer, not ever slowed by drug addiction, health issues, and now, at 75, age. And his final show of his last American tour at Dodger Stadium, showed why we’re unlikely to ever see an artist like him again in our lifetime.

The extended takes on classics : They’ve been doing it for years, but it’s still striking to hear John and his band stretch out with bold muscularity on such tunes as “Rocket Man,” “Levon” and “Take Me to the Pilot,” lifting the songs far beyond the radio versions. They’ve been playing together for decades and have retained a razor sharpness and blazing musicality, led by John’s pounding piano playing, Nigel Olsson’s precision drumming and Davey Johnstone’s searing guitar work. Somehow, the expanded version of “Levon” turned the song from the pristine, delicate studio take into a bop that had the 50-something, sparkly sweater-wearing man in front of me devising a solo dance worthy of “So You Think You Can Dance” and John dramatically collapsing over his piano by the time it was done.

John’s voice : It’s deeper now and not as sweet and clear as it was during the ‘70s, but the crystal tone has been replaced with a richness that shows off John’s love for the blues. That affinity always informed his playing, but not necessarily his vocals in the early years.

The material : With a few exceptions (we’re looking at you, 1979’s disco album,  Victim of Love ), John’s songs have always had a timeless quality to them whether it’s the simple, elegant beauty of “Your Song” or the raucous, barreling “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting” or the utter despair of “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word.” They sound as good and relevant (and gloriously complex) today as they did when they first came out decades ago. John and lyricist Bernie Taupin, who came out to a warm ovation, are simply one of the greatest partnerships in musical history. They’ve been creating together since 1967 and though John will no longer tour, he’s given no indication that he plans to stop making music .

John’s gratitude : He’s always made a point of making sure that audience knows how appreciative he is of their support that has enabled him to have such a remarkable career and life. He made sure to thank the fans one last time in a speech that was also a reminder of just how long he has been part of our lives (and through how many formats). “I became successful first in America, and you bought the singles and the albums and the 8 tracks and cassettes, the CDs, and more importantly you bought the tickets to the shows which I love more than anything, which is to play live,” he said. “So, I want to thank you because you made me. Without America, I wouldn’t be here. So, thank you for all the years of love and generosity and loyalty.” The feeling was clearly mutual. To be clichéd and obvious, how wonderful life has been while Elton John has been in the world.

PHOENIX – The Eagles are saying goodbye to the road after more than 50 years of touring, but not without visiting Phoenix for two more shows early next year.

The legendary Southern California band’s “The Long Goodbye Final Tour” will stop at Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix on Jan. 19-20, 2024, with fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Steely Dan along as special guests.

After tickets to the first show sold like hotcakes when they went on sale to the general public Friday morning, the band announced the second show.

Presales for the added show start Wednesday, with tickets going on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. next Friday (Nov. 10).

When The Eagles first revealed plans for their farewell tour in July, they said the shows would be announced as they are confirmed.

“We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful. Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle,” the band said in a statement at the time.

The Eagles are one of most popular musical acts ever, selling more than 150 million albums worldwide since forming in 1971.

They reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart six times, including with the classics “Hotel California” and “The Long Run.” “Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975” is one of the top-selling albums in history.

How long will The Eagles’ farewell tour last?

The Eagles’ farewell tour, which kicked off in September, is expected to continue into 2025 and could include returns to certain cities depending on demand and venue availability.

Don Henley is the only founding member still performing with the band. The current roster also includes longtime members Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit. Country star Vince Gill and Deacon Frey, the son of late founding member Glenn Frey, round out the touring lineup.

The Eagles came through Phoenix earlier this year, when their long-running “Hotel California Tour” stopped at Footprint Center in March.

The O'Jays posing for a portrait

All aboard as The O’Jays embark on their final farewell, the Last Stop On Love’s Train Tour. The previously announced tour features original members Eddie Levert and Walter Williams, alongside bandmate Eric Nolan Grant, as they take fans on a ride throughout their six-decade catalog.

The 11-city tour kicks off in Philly next week (June 17) and will wrap up this September in Memphis, Tenn. Fans in the DMV area are especially lucky as they’ll be able to catch the trio for free at the AFRAM Festival in Baltimore on Juneteenth.

Williams shared in a statement, “The reason that this is our last tour is because, between Eddie and I, our ages will be over 160 years old by the end of the tour. I will be 60, and Eddie… you can do the rest of the math. But really, we wanted one last tour to say goodbye to our friends, family and fans, and ride The Love Train together, one last time.”

Levert added, “I was thinking that I would quietly retire, but our fans and my body weren’t having it…The love and physical benefits of performing keeps us on the younger side of our age. This tour is a celebration of all of our lives and the struggles and joys that got us to today. It is time for us to say goodbye and we would like to do it in person. Please come join us as we play the music we have shared together over the past 60 years, one last time.”

Madonna's Final Celebration Tour Stop in Rio de Janeiro Draws Record-Breaking Audience of 1.6 Million

Madonna promised her fans the biggest dance party in the world — and the Queen of Pop delivered on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro.

In March the singer, 65, announced she would be performing a historic free concert at Copacabana Beach for her final Celebration Tour show, and on the night a record-breaking 1.6 million fans watched the pop superstar perform.

The show made history as, though the annual New Year's Eve concerts at Copacabana Beach have drawn larger crowds, Madonna's May 4 audience was her biggest ever, and the largest ever for a stand-alone concert by any artist, a post on X (formerly Twitter) from Live Nation confirmed. The record was previously held by the Rolling Stones .

During the show, Madonna played a host of hits, including "Like a Virgin," "Like a Prayer," and "Into the Groove."

Pablo Vittar joined the pop icon on stage for "Music," while for her performance of "Vogue," the Brazilian crowd was treated to a guest appearance from Anitta , who later spoke of the "incredible moment" on her Instagram Stories .

"@madonna soooo happy for being part of this incredible moment with you," she wrote across a video of the two artists together on stage during the concert.

After the show, Madonna shared her delight and appreciation in several posts on Instagram, including a video from the event showing sweeping shots of the huge crowds.

"This really happened……….Thank you Rio 🇧🇷💛 ………. Thank you @pabllovittar and @anitta ……………Words cannot express my gratitude! To everyone involved!! 🇧🇷💛🇧🇷💚" she wrote alongside the clip.

Sponsored by Itaú Apresenta, the concert — her first in Brazil since 2012 — "will be free of charge as a thank you to her fans for celebration more than four decades of her music over the course of the epic global run of the tour," stated a press release.

The show took place in front of the Belmond Copacabana Palance Hotel, and entry was available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Material Girl kicked off her  long-awaited Celebration Tour  at London's O2 Arena in October with an electrifying two-hour set during which she opened up about her  road back to the stage  after  her hospitalization last year  following a  serious bacterial infection .

"I didn't think I was gonna make it. Neither did my doctors. That's why I woke up with all of my children sitting around me," Madonna  said of her kids  Lourdes, 27, Rocco, 23, David, 18, Mercy, 18, and twins Stella and Estere, 11. "But the angels were protecting me, and my children were there. And my children always save me every time."

Last month the singer shared a carousel of behind-the-scenes snaps of herself with her kids ( David, Mercy, Stella and Estere all performed alongside mom during her run of shows) from their past few months on tour.

"On the day before our 80th show of the Celebration Tour I need to acknowledge my incredibly talented children who carried me through this Journey each of them bringing their own unique talent to the stage," she wrote in the caption.

The Grand Tour star forced to axe his own TV show after 4 years

Richard Hammond, Jeremy Clarkson and James May

James May has become the victim of his own success and has been forced to axe his TV show.

In Oh Cook! James documented his journey as his cooking skills went from abysmal to satisfactory, and finally, pretty damn good.

The two series of the Amazon Prime Video show have made the The Grand Tour star an accomplished cook in four short years.

The whole concept of Oh Cook!, which was a play on his famous catchphrase – Oh c**k, was James, 61, receiving tutition as he is hopeless with an oven.

At first, he tried to get a grip on the basics including lasagne, fish pie, and a full Sunday roast for the whole crew’s lunch was his final hurdle in the first offering. Having gained his confidence in the kitchen, for the second season he tried his hand at Japanese food, vegan delights, and even made dishes for a 70s themed-party.

Off the back of the programme, the TV star even released a cookbook, which has become a best-seller.

James May with a lasagne

‘It was a totally fresh concept that viewers lapped up, as usually cooking series are presented by professional chefs,’ a source told The Sun .

‘But after two seasons, James is now quite a good cook, so it’s not a gag he can continue to flog.’

While he may be hanging up his chef hat on TV, it’s not the end of the road with Amazon as he will continue to explore the globe in travelogue James May: Our Main in… He’s already embraced local culture in Japan, Italy and India, and the world is quite literally his Oyster with Amazon budget.

Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond.

Of course, there’s the bread and butter – The Grand Tour, which he presents with Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond.

The former Top Gear hosts have starred on the motoring show since 2016, and their special in Zimbawe is set to air towards the end of this year.

The series will end after the conclusion of the fifth series , but the trio, who’ve worked together since 2002 could be back together once more.

‘I wouldn’t rule it out,’ said James. Although, he quickly added: ‘But you do have to bear in mind that we’re all getting on a bit.’

Metro.co.uk contacted Amazon and James May’s representatives for comment.

How does the cut work at the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday?

Change Text Size

There’s a limited field at the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday, but not everyone is guaranteed to make the weekend. Reigning major champs Brian Harman and Wyndham Clark are among those sweating the cut line into Friday at Muirfield Village.

The Memorial will have a 36-hole cut to the top 50 players and ties, in addition to any players within 10 strokes of the 36-hole lead. (New in 2024, this cut rule is utilized for three player-hosted invitationals: The Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, and the Memorial.)

After Thursday’s opening round, the top 50 and ties projects at 3-over 75 (with 54 players at 3-over or better), but with leader Adam Hadwin at 6-under 66, the cut would fall at 4-over 76 – per the 10-shot rule.

Clark and Harman each opened in 5-over 77, meaning a weekend tee time in central Ohio is no given. The 73-player field at the season’s seventh of eight Signature Events was greeted with stern conditions Thursday, which are expected to grow tougher on a dry Friday at Muirfield Village. Clark stood even-par through seven holes on Thursday but made five bogeys and six pars in his last 11 holes. Harman made three bogeys and a double bogey (No. 12) in his first round, failing to record a birdie.

Players on the projected cut line (4-over) into Friday’s second round are Denny McCarthy (last year’s runner-up to Viktor Hovland), Rickie Fowler, Ben Griffin, Sungjae Im, Cameron Young, Harris English and Kurt Kitayama. (As the cut line currently projects, 61 of 73 players in the field would make the 36-hole cut.)

The Memorial offers a $20 million purse, with $4 million and 700 FedExCup points to the winner. Players who miss the cut will not receive FedExCup points or prize money.

Nate Diaz, Jorge Masvidal press conference erupts into wild brawl

Things turned chaotic at the final press conference for Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal 2.

The UFC veterans face each other in a 10-round, 175-pound boxing match on July 6 in Anaheim, Calif. The first couple of press conferences to hype the fight were relatively uneventful, but when the rivals met on Thursday for the final event during the media tour, all hell broke loose when a brawl erupted as Diaz was leaving the press conference.

A massive brawl just broke out at the end of Nate Diaz vs Jorge Masvidal press conference. #boxing #diazmasvidal pic.twitter.com/C1oVHsRt3n — Fight Hub TV (@FightHubTV) June 6, 2024

This event was more tense than usual as Diaz, who has largely been uninterested in engaging for most of these events, was more aggressive than usual. Diaz and Masvidal got into several back-and-forth arguments about their MMA careers, grappling, and their previous fight, before Diaz went off on the entire presser.

“Not this f*cking press conference,” Diaz said when asked what he cares about. “I’m sick of sitting here, I’m sick of looking at all these motherf*ckers, I’m sick of of looking at you, too! [directed at emcee Brian Campbell]. I’m sick of of this whole shit. I’m done with this whole press conference shit. I’m glad we’re here to promote these great fights that are happening. That’s cool as f*ck. But besides that, I think my work here is done. I’m done doing all this shit. No more press conferences until my next fight.

“F*ck this ugly motherf*cker [to Masvidal]. Man, I hate to disrespect you, but I’m sick of seeing you, too [to Campbell]. I’m out. I’m good. See everybody. Peace out.”

Diaz then stood up to leave the presser and while producers frantically asked him to square off with Masvidal one more time, Stockton’s finest came to the front of the stage, posed, and then grabbed a microphone to say, “Square off with yourself, motherf*cker!”

Masvidal came around the stage as the fighters continued jawing at each other until Diaz finally turned to walk away.

After Diaz exited, the crowd in front of Masvidal remained, and that’s when the brawl broke out.

Masvidal got shoved during the melee as the mayhem erupted but he eventually stepped out of the fray. While it was tough to see exactly what happened after that initial altercation, it appeared at least some members from the fighters’ camps were involved in the brawl.

The action went on for some time but ultimately security was able to restore order.

Diaz and Masvidal face off on July 6 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
