Best show I’ve seen at the The Independent. I’m so so glad I used this app to get my tickets months in advance! The show was sold out and packed.

Saw DRAMA on Oct 24th at Danforth Mysic Hall. What an awesome duo. Sang along to every word. Na’el does a good job creating new sounds to keep the crowd interested. Bit gutted that Via Rosa’s voice was a little muffled as she’s got some great vocals. Hopefully they’ll come to London UK and headline their own show soon. If these two are passing through your town do not pass them up.

I had never been to that venue before and was suprised how good it sounded! I love this duo, easy to vibe with every song and the show was entertaining and fun to watch as well. They hung out in the bar after the show and chatted with people, they were so chill! I really wish them the best of luck.

THE OLIVIER AWARD-WINNING BEST PLAY RETURNS MARCH 2025

National theatre.

10 MARCH – 24 MAY 2025

THE LOWRY, SALFORD

29 MAY – 29 JUNE 2025

‘A theatrical spectacle as uplifting as any England victory’

Daily Telegraph

‘A TRIUMPHANT TRANSFER SCORES ON THE WEST END’

‘a back-of-the-net winner’, ‘a brilliant fusion of sport and art’.

Evening Standard

‘A WINNING TEAM IN A TALE OF FOOTBALL, FEAR AND ENGLAND. EXQUISITE’

Broadway World

‘James Graham brings it home with this rousing new play. Uplifting, funny and more entertaining than a World Cup final’

‘a glorious, generous rollercoaster… that’s what winning looks like’.

Financial Times

‘James Graham’s new stage epic. Tremendous’

‘he shoots, he scores. graham’s fast-moving portrait of gareth southgate’s reign as the england football’, ‘the beautiful game in a beautiful play’.

WhatsOnStage

Following a record-breaking run in the West End, the Olivier-Award winning smash hit returns to the National Theatre ahead of a 4-week run at The Lowry, Salford.

The country that gave the world football has since delivered a painful pattern of loss. Why can’t England’s men win at their own game?

The team has the worst track record for penalties in the world, and manager Gareth Southgate knows he needs to open his mind and face up to the years of hurt to take team and country back to the promised land.

Writer James Graham  ( Punch , Nottingham Playhouse; Sherwood , BBC) updates his epic examination of nation and game to reflect Gareth Southgate’s final chapter as England manager.  Rupert Goold ( Patriots, Cold War, Almeida Theatre) once again directs this ‘back-of-the-net winner’ (The i).

Please note this is a fictionalised account of the struggles and successes of England’s football teams, based on extensive research and interviews. It features characters inspired by some real-life individuals, and some composite characters entirely imagined by the author.

Based on the beloved novel by Michael Morpurgo, adapted by Nick Stafford In association with Handspring Puppet Company A co-production with Michael Harrison, Fiery Angel, and Playing Field.

Booking and details

The global phenomenon returns

Our acclaimed production returns in an all-new UK tour. War Horse is an unforgettable theatrical experience which takes audiences on an extraordinary journey from the fields of rural Devon to the trenches of First World War France, in a remarkable story of courage, loyalty and friendship.

Based on the beloved novel by Michael Morpurgo , this powerfully moving and imaginative drama, filled with stirring music and songs, is a show of phenomenal inventiveness. At its heart are astonishing life-sized horses by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company , who bring breathing, galloping, charging horses to thrilling life on stage.

At the outbreak of World War I, Joey, young Albert’s beloved horse, is sold to the Cavalry and shipped to France. He’s soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes him on an extraordinary journey, serving on both sides before finding himself alone in No Man’s Land. Albert, who remained on his parents’ Devon farm, cannot forget Joey. Though still not old enough to enlist, he embarks on a treacherous mission to find Joey and bring him home.

New episodes of Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators to premiere on Alibi

24th september 2024, new episodes of shakespeare & hathaway: private investigators to premiere on alibi before launching on bbc & iplayer.

Fan-favourite Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators has started filming series five in Stratford-upon-Avon, with Jo Joyner, Mark Benton and Patrick Walshe McBride reprising their roles as Luella Shakespeare, Frank Hathaway and Sebastian Brudenell. The new series, produced by BBC Studios Drama Productions in Birmingham, is a co-commission by BBC Content and UKTV , and will premiere exclusively on UKTV’s specialist crime drama channel, Alib i next year before launching later on the BBC and iPlayer . Series one to four are available on BBC iPlayer. The deal is part of the BBC’s commitment to investment in the Midlands, which has seen drama commissions in the region continue such as the recently announced double commission for Father Brown series 12 and 13 with BBC Studios, and the acquisition of series one and two of Sister Boniface from BBC Studios. Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators series four was the BBC’s second biggest daytime series in 2022. Its average audience was 2.3million with nearly one fifth (0.4m) of its total audience coming from iPlayer and was the biggest commissioned daytime series on iPlayer in 2022. Created by Paul Matthew Thompson and the late Jude Tindall, the series follows an unlikely pair of private investigators, hardboiled ex-cop Frank Hathaway (Benton), and warm-hearted ex-hairdresser Lu Shakespeare (Joyner), as they work the cobbled streets of Stratford-upon-Avon, solving thrilling cases and murders most foul. Helen Munson , Commissioner for BBC Daytime comments, “I’m delighted that Shakespeare and Hathaway are back! Expect more murder, more intrigue, and of course more comedy in series 5, as Lu and Frank once again solve crimes in beautiful Stratford Upon Avon.”

We’re delighted to have this opportunity to treat Alibi viewers to the further adventures of this much-loved pairing on Alibi first.

Claire Hookway , Commissioning Executive, Drama, UKTV, says: "With its distinctive marriage of comedy, crime and mystery, we know Alibi viewers love Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators. We’re delighted to have this opportunity to treat them to the further adventures of this much-loved pairing on Alibi first and can’t wait to see Lu and Frank back on-screen with some new twisty and thrilling mysteries to solve.” Jo Joyner says: “I’m so excited to be stepping back into Luella’s bright and fluffy shoes! We have such loyal and brilliant fans who have been asking us daily if we’ll ever be back, so it’s wonderful to finally be able to say yes! I can’t wait to see Lu, Frank and Sebastian cracking more countryside crimes whilst squabbling fondly in series 5.” Mark Benton says: “I'm so thrilled to be making the show again. The reaction was phenomenal and hopefully series five will be even better. I can't wait.” Patrick Walshe McBride says: "I'm so excited to be back filming Shakespeare & Hathaway. We have so much fun making the show and we put a lot of love into it. I hope viewers will be interested to find out what the characters have been up to over the last couple of years, and will enjoy accompanying us in a new season of murder and merriment. Anyone for Earl Grey?" Deborah Sathe , Creative Director for BBC Studios Drama Productions, says: “BBC Studios, and the cast and crew of Shakespeare and Hathaway, are so excited to be returning to Stratford Upon Avon to film this hugely popular show. Viewers have let us know how much they have missed us so we hope they are as thrilled as we are! Frank And Lu haven’t lain dormant and poor Sebastian has been overworked, but criminals of Stratford Upon Avon beware, our super sleuths are back!” Shakespeare and Hathaway: Private Investigators is produced by BBC Studios Drama Productions for the BBC and UKTV. Executive Producers are Neil Irvine for BBC Studios, Helen Munson and Rob Unsworth for the BBC and Claire Hookway, Commissioning Executive, Drama, for UKTV. Erika Hossington is Series Producer and Lyn Washbrook is Script Producer. BBC Studios is handing international distribution. -ENDS-

The North Road Company has made a major hire in the UK, bringing in former Channel 4 drama boss Caroline Hollick .

Based out of London, Hollick will be North Road’s Senior VP International Production and Development. She’ll work closely with North Road President of Television Amy Israel and her LA-based team to identify “fresh voices and top creative talent for North Road to collaborate with in the UK and other European markets.”

“As a global television studio, North Road is excited to have someone of Caroline’s caliber and passion for storytelling based in the UK. We look forward to supporting Caroline as she dives back into the UK market and generates more global opportunities for local creative talent to share their stories.”

Prior to Channel 4, Hollick was Creative Director at Studiocanal-owned Red Production Company, working on shows such as Happy Valley and Last Tango in Halifax . She began her career as a production trainee at Yorkshire Television.

“I am beyond excited to join North Road,” said Hollick. “I appreciate that they have met this moment in our business with optimism, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a continued commitment to working with world class voices. I am excited to harness my talent relationships in the UK and Europe to further North Road’s global ambitions.”

Hollick’s appointment at North Road comes nine months after Deadline revealed the company’s previous London-based scripted chief, President of International Film & TV Kristin Jones, was leaving the company . Her exit came after a series of senior hires for North Road including Israel, the former Showtime exec; Josh Stern as EVP Television; James Pross as VP Television; and Madison Heim-Jinivisian as Creative Executive.

North Road’s international productions include Bad Boy,  which is from  Euphoria  creator Ron Leshem, and Heart of a Killer , u n v e i l e d earlier this week . Peter Chernin’s company has been active outside the U.S. since it bought the U.S. assets of ProSiebenSat.1 Media-owned Red Arrow for $200M, as Deadline  revealed  at the time. Deals for  The Last Dance  producer  Little Room Films  and Turkish producer  Karga Seven have followed, along with stakes in Peyton Manning’s  Omaha Productions  and  Two One Five Entertainment , the production house founded by Questlove and Black Thought of The Roots.

Hollick caught some flak at the back end of last year from the UK drama community for her association with Channel 4’s The Couple Next Door , which was written by her husband, screenwriter David Allison. Channel 4 staunchly defended the drama , noting Hollick had recused herself from the production, despite initially noting she had “commissioned” the program. Technically, it had come through the Channel 4 acquisitions team, with the drama division only taking over when a funding partner pulled out. The steamy series was a co-production with Starz and led by Eleanor Tomlinson and Sam Heughan among others.
