In Stanley , the party starts when you get there. Seriously, the starting time is listed as: “When you get in town.” Spend the day fishing, boating, swimming and enjoying the beauty of the Sawtooths. In the evening, head into Pioneer Park by 5:30 p.m. for the parade, followed by live music and a street dance. When darkness falls, sit back and relax while you enjoy the fireworks show.

A single day or weekend 4th of July celebration isn’t good enough for McCall . Instead, McCall is offering the “10 Days of Fourth of July Fun” celebration beginning June 30th. There’s too much to list, but on the 4th, among other things, check out the Thunder Mountain Days Parade, OR the 4th of July Kick-off Bubble Parade, a volleyball tournament, craft fairs, a street dance, and end the day with majestic fireworks show over Payette Lake. Head up to Brundage Mountain Resort for mountain biking, hiking, disc golf, and an uphill 10K race to the summit. If you prefer being pampered, sign up for a 4th of July Fireworks Cruise with McCall Lake Cruises, or make reservations for a Lakeside Fireworks Dinner at The Anchor Restaurant. Cap off your celebration at the DJ Dance party at the Yacht Club.

Things to Do on 4th of July in Idaho

Not to be outdone, Rupert is hosting a multi-day “ United We Stand Festival “. Enjoy five days of festivities with Wild West shootout performances, a parade, a fun run, lawnmower races, live music, and of course, fireworks.  Take note, a fireworks display kicks off this festival on June 30th.

Coeur d’Alene

Just the excuse you needed to spend some time in beautiful north Idaho, Coeur d’Alene has the largest 4th of July Festival in the region. Start the day with the American Heroes Parade on Sherman Avenue. After, head to Coeur d’Alene City Park for live music and fantastic food. Close out the day watching north Idaho’s largest fireworks display over Lake Coeur d’Alene at dusk.

Idaho Falls

The 4th of July fireworks display in Idaho Falls has a earned a reputation for being the largest of its kind in the state and has been described as the “3rd-largest fireworks show west of the Mississippi.” But that’s not all there is to do at the new Riverfest Celebration , which replaces the “Liberty Festival” of previous years. Enjoy food booths, live music, horseback and wagon rides, motorsports exhibitions, and a tons of kids games and activities. When night comes, the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration fireworks show starts at Snake River Landing, and this year they are claiming it will be THE biggest fireworks show in the West. You don’t want to miss this!

The best and worst days to fly July Fourth weekend

How this year’s thursday holiday might impact long weekends, the smarter, cheaper fourth of july travel itinerary in 2024.

For folks planning July Fourth vacations, prepare for crowds. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screened a record number of passengers in 2023, and those records are likely to be broken in 2024. In fact, in the first two months of 2024, travel volumes were roughly 6% higher than the same period in 2023, according to the TSA.

With the expected big crowds in mind, are some days better for air travel than others?

In 2024, July Fourth falls on a Thursday, which puts a wrench in predicting travel crowds. Will folks take the Friday after off to enjoy the long weekend? Or will they decide their vacation time is best used for another holiday?

Here’s some guidance around booking July Fourth weekend air travel in 2024, how you might be able to avoid the crowds — and potentially save money on airfare .

Video preview image

Are airports busy on July Fourth? NerdWallet analyzed TSA data showing the number of passengers screened at its U.S. checkpoints over the past three years, homing in on the seven days before and after July Fourth, to find the busiest days to fly.

The worst days to fly: To avoid crowds, don’t fly the Friday before July Fourth. In each of the past three years, the Friday before July Fourth was the busiest travel day before the Fourth of July weekend.

For post-holiday travel, the Sunday after ranks as the busiest day to fly.

The best days to fly: Typically, July Fourth is the least busy day to fly. On July Fourth of last year, airport crowds averaged just 70% of what they were relative to the busiest travel day, which was the Friday before July Fourth (June 30, 2023).

But if you’d rather spend July Fourth celebrating — and not in an airport — turn to Tuesday. The Tuesdays before and after the holiday rank among the least busy days to fly during July Fourth week.

The rankings of best and worst days to fly for July Fourth follow year-round travel patterns. No matter when you’re traveling, Fridays are, on average, the busiest day to fly, and Tuesdays are, on average, the least busy days to fly.

July Fourth falls on a Thursday, so people intending to travel for the holiday will likely take the next day, Friday, off and make it a long weekend. But given how few people are willing to travel on Independence Day, when will people actually fly?

The last time July Fourth fell on a Thursday was in 2019. Here’s a look at travel crowds by day in 2019, ranked from most to least crowded:

Sunday after, July 7 (most crowded).

Monday after, July 8.

Friday before, June 28.

Thursday before, June 27.

Sunday before, June 30.

Thursday after, July 11.

Wednesday before, July 3.

Wednesday after, July 10.

Tuesday after, July 9.

Monday before, July 1.

Saturday before, June 29.

Tuesday before, July 2.

Saturday after, July 6.

Friday after, July 5.

Thursday, July Fourth (least crowded).

In 2019, the July Fourth holiday was the least busy day to fly. Meanwhile, July 5, the day after the holiday, wasn’t busy either. That bucks the usual trend of Friday being the busiest travel day of the week. When it comes to July Fourth weekend travel, most people are already set in their locations by Friday.

But there’s one day that people are definitely crowding airports, and that’s the Sunday after July Fourth. Flying this day will cost you, too. According to travel booking app Hopper’s 2024 Travel Booking Hacks report, Sunday is the most expensive day to fly in the U.S., with airfares averaging 15% more than midweek departures.

Following typical July Fourth holiday travel patterns could mean costs in terms of airfare and time spent waiting in line at the airport. Deviate from that schedule to find lighter crowds and perhaps better July Fourth flight deals, too. Try these travel days instead:

Fly on July Fourth

If you don’t mind traveling on the holiday, you’re looking at the single emptiest air travel day of the period analyzed.

Do one better by flying early on the holiday. Hopper’s spring 2023 Flight Disruption Outlook found that flights that depart from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. are half as likely to be delayed as flights with scheduled departure times after 9 a.m.

Plus, a morning flight improves your odds of catching the fireworks at your final destination.

Embrace Saturday travel

Rather than rush out from work on the Friday afternoon before the holiday to jump on a flight, relax at home that evening and depart Saturday morning before instead. Simply shifting your trip by one day could likely result in going from one of the busiest to lightest travel days of the July Fourth travel period.

The same goes for returning home. While it can be tempting to extend your trip as long as possible before you have to get back to work on Monday, skip the Sunday flight and fly home on Saturday instead. Bonus: You’ll have a day at home to rest and recover before the new workweek. How responsible of you.

Fly on July 5

Though Friday is typically one of the most expensive days to fly year-round, that’s unlikely to be the case this particular week.

So another option is to fly home on July 5. This allows you to still spend the holiday in your destination of choice. By returning on Friday, you’ll still have the full weekend at home to take a vacation from your vacation before Monday.

Fireworks, parades, picnics and more: Where to celebrate Independence Day in the Inland Northwest

Many cities and towns across the Inland Northwest will return to traditional fireworks and parade celebrations for the Fourth of July this weekend and on Monday following pandemic-related restrictions.

If you’re still looking for activities to celebrate independence, here are some options from central Washington to North Idaho.

Spokane will have a litany of Independence Day activities and firework displays from which to choose. Riverfront Park will host more than 20 food vendors and activity booths starting at noon Monday The Spokane Symphony will be putting on a free concert in the park at the U.S. Pavilion starting at 9 p.m., followed by fireworks that will be set off near the Great Northern Clock Tower at 10 .

Fans can also catch a fireworks display at Avista Stadium following the showdown on the diamond between the Spokane Indians and the visiting Tri-City Dust Devils. The game starts at 7:05 p.m. and tickets can be purchased for $8 to $22 through the team’s website.

Liberty Lake

In Liberty Lake, the Fourth of July celebration will begin with a concert from Spokane blues rock band Too Slim and the Taildraggers at 7 p.m. in Pavillion Park. Their firework display will begin at 10 and fireworks will be launched from the baseball fields between Liberty Creek and Liberty Lake elementary schools.

The annual Moses Lake Freedom Festival kicks off Friday in McCosh Park, ending with a fireworks display on Sunday at 10 p.m.

At noon on Friday, McCosh Park will open for vendors and activities, and the day will wrap up with a screening of Disney’s “Encanto” at 8 p.m.

The park will reopen Saturday at 8 a.m. for a farmers market until 1 p.m. A cornhole tournament will kick off at 9 a.m. at the North Tennis Courts, and prospective competitors can register online for $50 a team at www.springfestivalinmoseslake.com. At 8 p.m. on Saturday, there will be a free concert from East Coast country music duo LoCash.

Festivities will wrap on Sunday with two more concerts, one from Texas-based rock band Cruise Control at 4 p.m. and one from local blues band Lake City Blues at 7 , both in McCosh Park. Fireworks will be launched at 10 Sunday.

The Loon Lake Property Owners Association will start its fireworks display at 10 p.m. Sunday. The budget for this year’s display is $8,000, according to their website. The annual boat parade will start at 1 p.m. on Monday at the south end of the lake.

Participants are encouraged to get creative when decorating their boats, and there will be prizes available. Boaters interested in joining the parade are asked to register at 12:30 p.m. in Cedar Beau Bay, at a boat marked “Register Here.”

Palouse area

On the Palouse, there are a number of ways to spend Independence Day.

Albion, Washington, has a day full of community events planned, starting with a senior breakfast at the senior center and a horseshoe tournament at Albion Park, both at 9 a.m. The Albion parade will start at 10 a.m. at the Latter-day Saints Church on Main Street. There will be a flag ceremony at 11:30 a.m., followed by a community lunch in the park. The celebration will feature a petting zoo, a fish pond, water attractions, live music and a grease pole with a $100 prize for any child who reaches the top.

Pullman will start its celebration at 5 p.m. in Sunnyside Park with live performances from the Community Band of the Palouse and local icon Dan Maher. DJ Goldfinger, owner of the Lumberyard, will be spinning records from throughout the decades. Fireworks will be launched at dusk.

The annual BBQ will not be making a return this year, but concession items will be available for purchase. The Pullman Chamber of Commerce recommends using Pullman Transit to get to the park, as parking will be limited. Buses will begin running specialized routes to the park at 4:30 p.m. and will be free to ride.

Moscow, Idaho, will have its first Independence Day parade since 2004, but it is not associated with the city of Moscow, the Chamber of Commerce or Latah County government, said Kelsey Manning, a human resource specialist for the city of Moscow.

The Latah County Independence Day Parade is being put on by Advance Idaho, a new organization that recently applied for nonprofit status. The organization bills itself as a Christian economic development group, according to their website. The organization’s assumed business name certificate was filed April 12 by Joel Cohen, a prominent member of the Christ Church in Moscow. The parade starts at 10 a.m. on Main Street.

Coeur d’Alene

Independence Day festivities in downtown Coeur d’Alene will kick off with the American Heroes Parade on Sherman Avenue at 11 a.m. The parade features about 75 entries, and attracts more than 10,000 visitors each year. ”The Spirit of America” festival in City Park featuring live music and carnival rides will follow the parade, and wraps up at 7 p.m. Fireworks will be set off over the lake at dusk.

At the Coeur d’Alene Resort, the annual Lakeside 4th Fest starts with a cocktail social hour at 6 p.m., followed by a dinner buffet and live entertainment on the resort’s front lawn. Fireworks will begin at 9:45 . Tickets are $110 for adults, $45 for children 3 to 12 years old and admission is free for toddlers 2 years old or younger.

Although the family cruise is sold out, those looking to get a bit closer to the action can still purchase tickets for Lake Coeur d’Alene Cruises’ Deluxe Fourth of July cruise. The 2½-hour cruise is available to those 21 years old and up and begins boarding at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $63.25, which includes hors d’oeuvres and two complimentary drinks. A spokesperson for the resort said there are around 90 tickets still available.

Sandpoint’s annual Lions Club Fourth of July Celebration starts downtown at 9 a.m. with the kids’ parade, followed by the main parade at 10 a.m. The parade route starts on Fifth Avenue, then goes down Church Street, First Avenue and Cedar Street before returning to Fifth Avenue. The fireworks display will take place at Sandpoint City Beach at dusk.

If the ingredients are at the bar, and the bartender knows how to make the drink, you will be able to get it.

If the bartender doesn't know how to make the drink, but you can provide directions, then you can have it made, too. Again, so long as the ingredients are there, the bartender will make anything you want.

Thanks- appreciate the reply but wondering if someone has specific info as to whether they do have the ingredients ...

In that case, it might be helpful if you itemized the ingredients. People might not recognize that particular drink, but know about the things that are in it.

Vodka, ginger beer and lime juice. It is likely that the ship would substitute ginger ale for the ginger beer.

Actually Ginger Beer has alcohol so per HAL policy it cannot be brought on board. There would be no problem with the copper cup

Your right called HAL. I also figured that.

I got copper mule cups from Wm. Sonoma

A few years go, we do our own mules when we have a party. I'll pass on HAL.

I purchased several bottles of ginger beer in Bermuda in May. Was not alcoholic and had zero problem bringing it back on Veendam.

Today's brewed ginger beers are categorized as non-alcoholic drinks because their alcohol content is less than 0.5 percent , which meets FDA requirements. Since ginger beers are naturally fermented, they have less carbonation and often develop a beer-like head when poured into a glass. Bring the FDA classification as non alcoholic

The best days to fly around the Fourth of July this year

( NerdWallet ) – For folks planning July Fourth vacations, prepare for crowds.

The best and worst days to fly July Fourth weekend

Are airports busy on July Fourth? NerdWallet analyzed TSA data showing the number of passengers screened at its U.S. checkpoints over the past three years, homing in on the seven days before and after July Fourth, to find the busiest days to fly.

The worst days to fly: To avoid crowds, don’t fly the Friday before July Fourth. In each of the past three years, the Friday before July Fourth was the busiest travel day before the Fourth of July weekend.

How this year’s Thursday holiday might impact long weekends

July Fourth falls on a Thursday, so people intending to travel for the holiday will likely take the next day, Friday, off and make it a long weekend. But given how few people are willing to travel on Independence Day, when will people actually fly?

The last time July Fourth fell on a Thursday was in 2019. Here’s a look at travel crowds by day in 2019, ranked from most to least crowded:

  • Sunday after, July 7 (most crowded).
  • Monday after, July 8.
  • Friday before, June 28.
  • Thursday before, June 27.
  • Sunday before, June 30.
  • Thursday after, July 11.
  • Wednesday before, July 3.
  • Wednesday after, July 10.

  • Monday before, July 1.
