NEED TO KNOW

What is College GameDay Built by The Home Depot ?

ESPN's College GameDay Built by The Home Depot is college football's premier pre-game show. Entering its 36th season, the show travels to a different college campus or game site each week of the season from early September through the College Football Playoff National Championship in January. The locations - usually announced a week in advance - are chosen by ESPN based on competitive matchups, rivalries and other factors.

How can I watch the live broadcast?

College GameDay airs at 9am - noon ET on ESPN and ESPNU throughout the football season and is available for streaming through the ESPN App. ESPN's social and digital pre-pre-game show Countdown to College GameDay begins at 8:30am ET weekly and is available to watch on Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and the ESPN App.

How do I get selected to stand in the pit during the live broadcast?

Students and fans have the opportunity for up-close view of the show by standing in the pit immediately adjacent to the stage. Selection is on a first-come, first-serve basis for all fans. Students admitted to the pit are encouraged to wear school colors and should have a numbered wristband. Participants are subject to ESPN security procedures and policies.

What is the ESPN policy for pit participants?

The following items are prohibited in the pit: bags (of any kind), food and drinks, pens, pencils, markers or dry erase boards and signs on sticks. Throwing objects is strictly prohibited in the pit. A number of sign regulations are required as well.

What are the College GameDay sign regulations?

One of the most beloved traditions associated with College GameDay is the making of signs. No vulgar signs, .com, .net, .org, political or religious signs are allowed. For fans entering the pit, signs cannot be on poles or oversized. All signs brought to Saturday's taping will be inspected before entry and must abide by College GameDay's sign policies or will be removed.

College GameDay’s most popular destinations

college gameday visits by school

Earlier this week, College GameDay producer Lee Fitting tweeted the following:

This year, @CollegeGameDay will broadcast from a location that we've never been to before. Always fun. — Lee Fitting (@leefitting) May 28, 2014

While we don’t know where that location will be just yet, it got people guessing as to where it might be. It got us thinking about all the places they’ve gone in the past. Repeatedly. Like 13 times in some instances. Below are the most popular hosts in the history of College GameDay:

horseshoe

1) Ohio State – 13 visits

This might be a surprise considering many Ohio State fans feel that there’s a conspiracy against them and every non-SEC school at ESPN. The last time the Buckeyes hosted College Game Day was in 2010, when they blew out Penn State, 38-14. Even though Penn State was unranked, the game still drew an attendance of over 105,000. Ohio State is at the top of this list because of the team’s lenghty success and (insane) devoted fanbase.  I would be surprised if they didn’t host this coming season since it’s been such a long time.

2) Florida – 12 visits

The Gators welcomed South Carolina to Gainesville in 2012, the last time Florida hosted the ESPN crew.  Even though SC was ranked 7th at the time, #2 Florida curb stomped them, 44-11, in front of 90,000 people.

3) Michigan – 11 visits

I find it somewhat surprising that the last times Michigan and Ohio State hosted GameDay, they weren’t playing each other. It’s THE GAME, after all. Michigan hosted Fowler, Corso, Herbstreit and co. last year when Notre Dame came to Ann Arbor as the higher ranked team and left with a 41-30 loss.

4) USC – 10 visits

corsoblood

USC upset Stanford, 20-17, when they hosted the Cardinal last season. The interesting thing about USC is that they had never hosted before 2004, and in 2004 they hosted twice, as well as once in 2005 and twice in 2006. I am sure Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush had a lot to do with that, however USC has still hosted GameDay at least once every year since 2010.

T5) Florida State – 9 visits

The Seminoles smoked the Hurricanes into oblivion last season, 41-14. As a ‘Canes fan, it was super depressing to watch that mess unfold, as I really thought Miami was coming back from the nose dive it’s been in for several years. Oh wait, this blurb was supposed to be about FSU? Oh well!

T5) Auburn – 9 visits

Y’all remember this , right? Well, that’s when Auburn last hosted College GameDay and upset #1 Alabama on a 107 yard missed field goal return for a TD or whatever the yardage was. That was easily the most exciting game of the 2013 college football season.

T5) LSU – 9 visits

LSU last hosted in 2012, losing to #1 Alabama by the claw of a tiger (SEE WHAT I DID THERE? Okay, I will see myself out). Surprisingly, that’s the only visit by GameDay to Baton Rouge since 2009.

corsoduck

T8) Oregon – 8 visits

Oregon has hosted for the last five years in a row, so it will be interesting to see whether or not the streak remains in 2014. Last season, the Ducks absolutely CRUSHED a fairly decent UCLA team, 42-14 in front of the GameDay gang.

T8) Notre Dame – 8 visits

South Bend will always go down in history as the first on-campus College GameDay show back in 1993 for #1 Florida State at #2 Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish also last hosted in 2012, beating a ranked Stanford team, 20-13. Stanford does not do very well as the away team when the home team is hosting GameDay, in October, if there’s a full moon, when the Wednesday before dropped below 70-degrees, etc.

corso-herbstreit-usat

T8) Alabama – 8 visits

Given the Crimson Tide have been the top program in college football the last five years, you would think they would rank much higher. However, GameDay’s first visit to Tuscaloosa wasn’t until 2001. The Alabama/LSU game is always a huge draw, obviously, since the last time College GameDay visited both campuses, the schools were playing each other.

T8) Tennessee – 8 visits

At the other end of the spectrum are the Vols. Before hosting in 2012, GameDay hadn’t visited Knoxville since 2004, which is tied for the biggest gap between the top ten hosts.

Others: Teams I am surprised haven’t hosted more: Miami (FL) has only hosted six times, and not since 2006. Texas and Nebraska have also only hosted six, and those are also teams with big fan bases and a history of success.

We’re excited to see this year’s schedule and the new location reveal. Last year, North Dakota State and Washington were first time hosts. Who will it be this year? Villanova? Yes… no… maybe?

You can find the full list of GameDay hosts  here .

3. Submit Ticket Request

Once you’ve located the ticket request page, fill out the necessary information. This might include your name, contact details, high school, graduation year, and possibly other relevant information. Make sure to provide accurate and up-to-date information to ensure a smooth verification process.

4. Compliance Department Review

After submitting your ticket request, the school’s compliance department will review your information. This step is crucial for verifying that you are indeed a high school student-athlete. They may check your eligibility, graduation year, and other factors to ensure that the tickets are being allocated to the intended audience.

5. Ticket Approval and Notification

Once your request is approved by the compliance department, you will receive notification via email. The email will contain details about the game day visit, including the date, time, location, and any additional instructions you might need. Keep an eye on your email inbox and check your spam folder, just in case.

6. Prepare for the Visit

As the game day visit approaches, make sure you’re well-prepared. Confirm the visit details, including the schedule, parking arrangements, and any special events. It’s also a good idea to research the team’s recent performance, key players, and game strategies to enhance your understanding of the specific game and team.

7. Attend the Game Day Visit

On the designated day, arrive at the campus early and follow the provided instructions for parking and check-in. Make the most of your visit by interacting with current players, coaches, and fellow recruits. Take notes, ask questions, and immerse yourself in the game day atmosphere.

8. Follow-Up and Express Gratitude

After the game day visit, consider sending a follow-up email expressing your gratitude to the coaching staff and recruiters who hosted you. This professional gesture showcases your genuine interest in the program and leaves a positive impression.

9. Evaluate Your Experience

Take some time to reflect on your game day visit. Did you feel comfortable on campus? Did the atmosphere align with your expectations? Consider how the visit influenced your perception of the school and its athletic program.

10. Continue the Recruitment Process

A successful game day visit is just one step in the recruitment process. Use the insights gained during your visit to further evaluate your options. Stay in touch with the coaching staff, attend prospect camps, and maintain open communication to solidify your college choices.

Remember, each school’s process for setting up a game day visit may vary. Some schools might have online forms, while others may require direct contact with their coaching staff. Just because you experience a game day visit one way with a school, doesn’t mean it will be the same – or even similar – the next time.

Always follow the instructions provided on the school’s official website and reach out to the compliance department or recruiting coordinator if you have any questions or concerns. With careful research and thorough preparation, your game day visit can be a transformative experience that guides your journey to signing day .

2026 In-State Prospect Camden Goforth Recaps His Tennessee Gameday Experience

Caleb sisk | sep 18, 2024.

Camden Goforth

  • Tennessee Volunteers

One of the big-name recruits who was in attendance for this game was an in-state offensive lineman who has caught tons of attention for his off-season growth. That recruit is Camden Goforth. Goforth is a 2026 OL from McMinn, County High School in Tennessee.

The in-state talent spoke with Tennessee on SI following this visit.

“The visit was excellent! I enjoyed all of it, from the Vol walk and being on the field for warm-ups to the food at the recruiting event. The atmosphere was amazing, I love going to the night games,” said the McMinn County prospect. “The visit met and exceeded my expectations in many ways. The hospitality at UT was the highest level, everyone was so friendly and accommodating to me and my family.”

He had the chance to meet new people and talk to other recruits on his visit to Knoxville. “We did talk to players and their families from Alabama. We talked about the recruiting process so far. Talked about schools we had visited and upcoming visits also. I also recognized several players that we follow each other on social media but didn’t get a chance to talk before the game.  It was great to hear about other players and their family's experiences about visiting other schools.”

Talking to the coaches was exactly what he wanted to do. He did get the chance to talk to his position coach. “This was one of the top things I wanted from the visit and I was able to talk to Coach Elarbee and the OL staff before the game. I had great conversations with not only Coach (Glen) Elarbee but also Coach (Kevin) Pendleton, Coach (Chris) Labidou, Coach (Parker) Ball, and Coach (Evan) Davis.”

The in-state prospect is hopeful to visit again soon and later on down the road. “I don’t have a date yet but it was discussed about me coming back to be on campus.  I’m hoping soon, but want to come to a spring practice and I would love to come back and see all the facilities and have more conversations with the coaches and staff very soon.”

House where four University of Idaho students were killed will be demolished

Suspect Arrested For The Murders Of Four University Of Idaho Students

The off-campus residence where  four University of Idaho students were found dead  in November will be demolished, the school said Friday.

The owner of the three-story King Street House where the  bodies of Xana Kernodle, Ethan Chapin, Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves  were found offered it to the university.

The offer was accepted by the university. The school decided to get rid of the structure, which is located blocks away from campus, University President Scott Green said in a statement.

The slayings rocked the small community of Moscow, where investigators grappled with what the town’s police chief would later describe as a “very complex” case.

“This is a healing step and removes the physical structure where the crime that shook our community was committed,” Green said. “Demolition also removes efforts to further sensationalize the crime scene.”

The university is also “evaluating options where students may be involved in the future development of the property.”

Scholarships in honor of three of the students have been established and a fourth is in the works, Green said. A plan to create a memorial is also being developed.

“We will never forget Xana, Ethan, Madison and Kaylee, and I will do everything in my power to protect their dignity and respect their memory,” Green said.

Three of the victims were roommates in the house, and Kernodle’s boyfriend, Chapin, was staying overnight, according to investigators.

Bryan Christopher Kohberger, 28, was arrested  late last year in Pennsylvania and has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder and burglary.

The four charges of first-degree murder carry sentences that could include life in prison to the death penalty.

He is scheduled for a five-day preliminary hearing starting June 26.

At the time of the slayings, Kohberger was a  doctoral student , studying criminal justice and criminology at Washington State University in Pullman, a short drive over the state line from Moscow. A WSU official has said Kohberger is no longer enrolled.
