Music Of The Spheres World Tour - Delivered by DHL
Olympic stadium.
Their worldwide stadium tour 2023 was, of course, an overwhelming success. In Europe alone, Coldplay thrilled audiences at 37 sold-out and acclaimed open-air concerts, plus dozens more performances in Asia and America. In 2024, the band around frontman Chris Martin will continue their "Music Of The Spheres World Tour" - Delivered by DHL - and will then also come to the Olympic Stadium three times on 15., 17. and 18. August.
The quartet, founded in London at the end of the nineties, is one of the most successful bands of the 21st century worldwide. In Germany alone, five of their albums have reached the top of the charts, and their best-known hits include "Speed of Sound", "Viva la Vida" and "Paradise". Coldplay have performed at the Olympic Park four times so far. In addition to a concert in the Olympic Hall in September 2008, the British pop rockers also played twice in the Olympic Stadium (September 2012 and June 2017), plus an unforgettable open air in front of 10,000 enthusiastic fans at Coubertin Square at their park premiere in July 2005.
For their "Music of the Spheres World Tour", which began in Costa Rica in March 2022, Coldplay have so far received overwhelming reviews. The Times of London wrote of the "Greatest Live Music Show Ever". And "The Sun" recognised "a truly mesmerising spectacle". Not surprisingly, the band secured the award for Favourite Touring Artist at the American Music Awards 2022.
In Munich, Coldplay is now setting a record with three concerts on 15, 17 and 18 August 2024. No international act has ever played more consecutive open-air concerts under a tent roof.

Michael J Fox Joins Coldplay On Stage at Glastonbury for Two Songs | Video
- Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below
Michael J. Fox made a surprise appearance during Coldplay’s headlining set at Glastonbury Saturday night. The actor joined the band on stage and played guitar during “Humankind” and “Fix You,” which was released in 2005.
Variety reported Coldplay frontman Chris Martin introduced Fox and said, “With his Chuck Berry riff and the way he punched Biff: ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Michael J. Fox.” He later revealed after the set that the band are all fans of the star. “The main reason we’re in a band is because of ‘Back to the Future,'” he told the crowd. “So thank you to Michael, our hero.”
Video shared by the BBC showed Fox, who has been public with his fight against Parkinson’s Disease for 30 years, was seated in a wheelchair throughout his performance.

Fox previously performed with Martin at a 2013 fundraiser for the actor’s foundation, and in 2016 the pair recreated the “Back to the Future” concert at a Coldplay tour stop in New Jersey.

The band’s show also featured UK rapper Little Simz, who joined the group for a collaboration that is rumored to be titled “Supernova.” Simz played the stage directly before Coldplay’s set. The band were also joined by Victoria Canal for their song “Paradise.”

Tonight’s performance was the band’s 6th appearance and their 5th time headlining the festival. Coldplay debuted at the event in 1999 and subsequently played it in 2002, 2005, 2011, and 2016.
In November Fox revealed in an interview with CBS that he “always” battles depression. “The positivity is really sincere. I really feel it, and it’s genuine,” he said. “But it’s hard-fought, and it’s hard won, I should say. This fear, we can find ways to just give ourselves a break, give ourselves credit for getting through life, on life’s terms. And in order to do that, you have to stop and say, ‘It’s not that bad — it’s not that bad.’ … They say the absence of fear is faith.”

Coldplay review, Glastonbury 2024: Chris Martin and co deliver the spectacle of a lifetime
Band offer up one of the most unifying and celebratory moments ever to emanate from this hallowed stage, article bookmarked.

If archaeologists ever excavate the leyline reputed to flow beneath the Pyramid Stage field, it will likely look like this. A shimmering ocean of 200,000 luminous neon specks, undulating across the vale to the sound of twinkling synth rock.
Tonight’s spectacular preview comes courtesy of the vast array of LED wristbands handed out across the site and waved aloft for 2024’s reluctant record-breakers . As much as Chris Martin copiously thanks “the greatest city on earth” for the chance to play, Glastonbury is lucky to have him.
Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres tour hits Glastonbury almost three years in, having been through the UK twice already. The band reportedly had to be talked into a record-breaking fifth Glasto headline show that might reasonably be considered overkill. The Elton-rivalling crowd who make the utterly glorious “Viva La Vida” one of the most unifying and celebratory moments ever to emanate from this hallowed stage, though, are very much up for being overkilled.
The tour was something of a loose Eras of their own – an hour dominated by early classics, then an hour of their more recent hyper-pop tendencies. Glastonbury gets more of a magnificent mash-up. A 1970s BBC clock counts down to a brazen opening “Yellow”, then the band ricochet between albums, Martin bouncing and skipping around the stage like one of the local druids has summoned a sprite-like embodiment of pure melodic joy.
A pulsing “Paradise” gives way to an early outing for “The Scientist”, played by Martin on a battered “Hey Jude” piano covered in stars and scribbles, but also a quarter of a million heartstrings. “Clocks” – pounding, backlit in green – cues up the electro-pop rush of “Hymn For The Weekend” and effervescent folk rocker “Charlie Brown”. An hour or so races by, as for-the-ages Glasto headline sets tend to do.
Coldplay only ever come close to realising their undeserved reputation for the ordinary when they surrender their anthemic powers to the sonic sinkhole of EDM pop. Now, there’s much discussion abroad this year about Glastonbury’s on-going relationship with pop music. Our own Adam White convincingly argues elsewhere that, beyond the headliners, a genre with such mass appeal here (witness Sugababageddon and the XCXocalypse ) deserves prime-time respect rather than being shunted to dangerously overcrowded sidelines.
But let’s not forget that outside countercultural behemoths like Glastonbury, pop music has always been overwhelmingly popular and forever will be – the clue’s in the name. And good points have also been made about Coldplay’s career trajectory mirroring the festival’s. Both colourful leftfield extravaganzas got so big they had to embrace the mainstream machine in order to maintain their unwieldy success as streaming submerged rock.
With Coldplay adamant that they’ll stop making music in 2025 (a good 10 years after they began flagging up the end of the road) then, it perhaps bodes ill for Glastonbury’s future direction: once you’ve gone full pop, the implication goes, you’ve reached the end of the creative line. There’s nowhere to go but small again.
What can be relied upon though, no matter their genre preferences, is that both will deliver the spectacle of a lifetime. Even when indulging Pharrell-friendly grooves on “Adventures of a Lifetime” or a K-pop collaboration with BTS on “My Universe”, they blow more budget on balloons, confetti and fireworks than Moscow is currently spending on filling your timeline with Reform UK content .

For “Something Just Like This”, their sci-fi rave collaboration with The Chainsmokerz, they don cartoonish alien heads. Martin stops “A Sky Full of Stars” just before its Balearic blast off for a “band meeting”, asks everyone to put their phones away and “consider yourself part of the performance for this one song”, then drenches the Pyramid in aurora borealis.
They also signpost some ways back. Mid-set Little Simz emerges to add grainy verses to a premiere of rap pop new track “We Pray” – presumably set to appear on forthcoming 10th album Moon Music – marking a far darker direction than the glossier fare of late. “Arabesque” comes accompanied by a video guest spot from Femi Kuti and a swampy horn section of no little voodoo, while a white-clad gospel choir appear on the stage’s rim for a soul chorale of “Violet Hill” led by Laura Mvula. A soul noir coda to Coldplay’s career awaits? Colour us intrigued.
Both band and festival also know the value of “event” moments. Following a stripped-down run through the debut album’s jazzy ballad “Sparks”, Martin grabs an acoustic guitar and begins inventing songs on the spot, describing members of the crowd that pop up on the screen: a man with a model Pyramid Stage on his head; Michael Eavis, “the world’s greatest farmer”; surprise guest guitarist Michael J Fox .
Then the stage fills with players for a jubilant “Humankind”, a none-more bombastic “Fix You” and another new song to close the evening, “FeelslikeImfallinginlove”. Each one competes for showstopper of the festival.
“You make my world light up,” Martin sang earlier; one hell of a note-to-self.

Coldplay makes Glastonbury history with ‘extraordinary’ set at iconic festival
Have you ever seen anything like it? Coldplay have broken a major record at Glastonbury overnight, with absolutely epic scenes emerging from their show.
Big changes coming to one state’s night-life
Dua Lipa’s surprise duet with famous Aussie
Popular music festival canned for good
Talk about a heavenly view.
British band Coldplay made Glastonbury history on Saturday, overtaking The Cure to become the first band to headline the iconic UK festival a record five times.
Marking their first time performing at Glasto since 2016, frontman Chris Martin was treated to unbelievable scenes of around 100,000 fans illuminating the show ground at Worthy Farm in Somerset with a sea of glowing wristbands.
Photos of the colossal audience, streamed on the BBC, are going viral on social media in the wake of the show.
The scenes of it:
Flags, confetti and fireworks set the scene at the Pyramid Stage as Martin delivered hit-after-hit with euphoric anthems including A Sky Full Of Stars and Viva La Vida , the latter of which saw the entire crowd belt out the bridge in unison.
Audience members, including Hollywood star Tom Cruise, were also gifted with a heartwarming Michael J. Fox cameo - the Back to the Future star joining Martin onstage for an emotional performance of his tear-jerking song Fix You , strumming away on an electric guitar from his wheelchair.
Fans watching the live stream, as well as those lucky enough to attend in person, took to social media in droves to dub the set “extraordinary” and “immense”.
“Unifying. Illuminating. Uplifting,” one fan wrote.
“Has that edgy trend of hating Coldplay faded out these days? Because they’re playing an absolute stormer here at Glastonbury, hit after hit after hit,” another said.
“Coldplay’s Pyramid Stage set will live long in the memory. Amazing to see Michael J. Fox making a guest appearance,” a third wrote.
“This is something special,” a fourth added.
“This is one of the best shows of the band’s career, without a doubt,” another declared.
Coldplay first made their Glastonbury debut back in 1999. Within just three years they went on to headline, first in 2002, and again in 2005, 2011 and 2016.
More Coverage
The incredible show comes ahead of the beloved band’s return to Australia, with Coldplay hosting eight shows across Sydney and Melbourne from October.
Meanwhile, other big names hitting Glasto – which held its first festival in 1970 – include Dua Lipa, SZA and Shania Twain.
Sunday marks the final day of the week-long event, with SZA headlining.
The current state of night-life in one state is now ‘history’ as a raft of new reforms aims to breathe new life into the listless night-time economy.
The pop princess played the hits and even brought a famous Aussie guest on stage as she played the iconic UK music festival.
Another major music festival has been canned for good, citing rising costs and low ticket sales as a reason for its demise.
Glastonbury 2024 fans distracted by Coldplay performance and say they 'need to explain'
Coldplay were breaking Glastonbury Festival records as they took to the stage with their fifth headline slot on the Pyramid Stage on Saturday night (June 29). The band first headlined on the Pyramid Stage in 2002, and their performance sees them overtake The Cure, who have headlined the slot four times.
Their appearance at the huge music event's 2024 run come in the midst of their Music Of The Spheres world tour, which began in March 2022.
Frontman Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, drummer Will Champion and bassist Guy Berryman took to the stage following a busy Saturday line-up on the Pyramid Stage which has seen performances from Little Simz, Michael Kiwanuka, Keane, Cyndi Lauper and more.

They started their set with Yellow, from their 2000 album Parachutes and according to reports, Hollywood star Tom Cruise was among the celebrities watching the band.
They then followed up with their song of the night, Higher Power, from their ninth album, Music Of The Spheres. Audience close-ups showed people in the crowd wearing and waving LED wristbands which have become a staple of their live performances over the years.
And it's fair to say they caused a major distraction for those watching the action unfold on the BBC at home as opposed to from Worthy Farm.
@jackieszel said: "I need someone at Glastonbury to explain to me how Coldplay have managed to do that with their wristbands for their set it looks well cool." @16STAPPEN commented: "How tf have coldplay got everyone at glastonbury to get the wristbands." @ZacQuinn wrote: "Love or hate Coldplay, you can’t deny those wristbands look phenomenal #glastonbury."
@SeanMurricane joked: "Coldplay out there getting 100,000 wristbands to sync perfectly and I can’t get my printer to talk to my laptop #glastonbury2024." @BrianTheHack added: "I have to say the effects with the audience wristbands during this Coldplay set is genuinely extraordinary. Have they be synced with the music or something? It genuinely works. #Glastonbury."
