What's the best time to visit Las Vegas?

The best times to visit Las Vegas are in the spring and fall, particularly from late February to early May and from mid-September to early November, due to the moderate weather. However, during these peak seasons, expect higher hotel rates, with prices often reaching several hundred dollars per night.

Despite this, staying on the Strip can be advantageous as many casinos offer promotions to save on dining, activities, and gaming, but be mindful of the city’s persistent wind and extreme summer heat, which can exceed 100°F.

Visiting Las Vegas should be on everyone’s bucket list, even if gambling is something they never do. There is so much to see and do that one can spend a week in Vegas and never enter the gaming section of a casino.

Of course, if you enjoy gaming, there is more than enough to go around. Vegas is unlike any other place in the United States. In “the city that never sleeps,” you’ll find tons to do, plus the energy, excitement, and sense that something really fun is right around the corner.

If you plan it correctly, you can maximize your time outdoors while hitting all the hotspots “in season,” which is pretty much year-round, although some months are definitely better than others.  So, when is the best time to visit Las Vegas? Here’s our take.

The Best Time to Visit Las Vegas in 2024

The best time to visit Vegas is during the spring and fall. Those months are typically regarded as the end of February through early May and mid-September through early November.

Both periods are known for moderate weather.  One downside to visiting when Vegas is ideal is that room rates soar. It isn’t uncommon to pay several hundred per night during the peak season.

If you stay on the Strip, one good thing about the rates is that most casinos run lots of different promos that can help you save money on meals, activities, and even gaming. The largest challenge in Vegas is the heat.

The thermometer can soar to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer months. The temperatures climb into the high eighties and low nineties even by late April.  It does occasionally rain in Vegas, although not much.

The surrounding mountains get some spectacular thunderstorms. Another slightly annoying year-round challenge is the wind; Vegas is almost always breezy and frequently has days where gusts exceed 30 MPH.

Cheapest Time to Visit Las Vegas

The cheapest time to visit Las Vegas is during the off-seasons. Those are mid-November through the end of February and mid-May through mid-September.

Most casinos run specials on rooms during this time and several promotional programs to get people to visit. You can save hundreds over several nights if you book in summer or winter with a bit of planning.

You can also save if you book more than just a night or two. One not-so-secret is that rates are always less expensive if you stay mid-week. In terms of getting there, airlines run promotional packages pretty much year-round.

The airport also has several “bargain” airlines that daily fly in and out of Vegas. To find less expensive flights, the best strategy is to search on the internet as early as possible for fare discounts.

It isn’t unusual to find less costly flights even in-season if you book early enough. If you fly on a discount airline, remember that you’re trading frills for an affordable ticket.

Some airlines charge extra for everything, so make sure you know the rules about what you will be charged for before you ask for service. If you do some planning, you can get to Vegas “on the cheap” fairly easily.

Least Busy Time to Visit Las Vegas

The least busy time to visit Vegas is from November through February. Still, you will want to avoid being in town during the New Year celebration.

Also, it is important to remember that Las Vegas is busy year-round, so if you think it will be a ghost town right before the holidays, think again.

Another way to look at “least busy” is to figure out when Vegas will be bursting at the seams with tourists and activities. Fortunately, that is easy to do.

The Consumer Electronics Show ( CES ) is in early January. Pre-pandemic, this event drew over 200K visitors, making everything more hectic and expensive. March Madness in mid-March also packs Vegas to the gills.

The NCAA basketball tournament usually hosts games in this city. In 2023, Vegas will host both Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games. In addition, the city is known as a sports gaming Mecca, which brings its crowd.

Super Bowl Sunday in early to mid-February is one of the busiest times in Vegas all year. In 2025, Paradise, Nevada, next to Vegas, will host the event.

In 2022, Vegas hosted the NFL draft, which brought tens of thousands to the city. Early to mid-February typically attracts over 250,000 people to Vegas for the game and gambling on the game.

Vegas also sees an influx of visitors on Halloween, Memorial, Labor Day weekends, and the  Electric Daisy Carnival  in Mid-May, making rooms in this city very difficult to find.

Worst Time to Visit Las Vegas

It depends on what you want in a Vegas trip. The weather isn’t very good in winter. The events listed above bring hundreds of thousands of people in and drive up prices.

The casinos are crowded whenever there is a big sporting event going on. Hotels and other expenses are sky-high in season. Probably, though, the thing that most people would list as the least enjoyable about Vegas is the heat in the summer.

It isn’t unusual to see temperatures that soar to over 100 degrees. Temperatures that high can go on for days. A breeze usually brings some relief at night, but cooling down from 100 degrees to a balmy 80 isn’t cooling down to most people.

When you visit during that time of year, unless you’re hiking outside of the city, playing golf, or visiting Lake Mead, it is best to stay indoors as much as possible.

Everything in Vegas is airconditioned. You will be thankful for that when it seems like walking outside means starting the melting process. The heat, though, doesn’t keep people away.

The pools are open, and the  Spring Break  crowds have left, but the summer crowds have not taken up residency by the pool. The weather is perfect for reading a book and working on your tan while relaxing with a cocktail, poolside.

The Weather in Las Vegas

Las Vegas has a dry, desert climate with scorching hot temperatures during the summer months. High temperatures of 105 degrees Fahrenheit—or more—are not uncommon.   Spring and fall are slightly cooler, with highs ranging from an average of 69 degrees in March to 82 degrees in October. Meanwhile, winter in Las Vegas can be quite pleasant: Even in January , the coldest month, the mercury almost never dips below freezing. Snow is not an issue here.

Peak Season in Las Vegas

While Las Vegas is busy year-round (especially on weekends), the city is buzzing during the week between Christmas and the New Year , as well as later January when many conventions come to down. Fall and early spring, when temperatures make for more bearable weather, also can draw crowds.

January in Las Vegas

January starts out with New Year's Day festivities and then keeps right on going with football fans coming in strong on the weekends. The colder months seem to be better for midweek travelers, and aside from the first week of the month, room specials can be found. However, you should know that convention season starts up big after the first week in January, so be prepared for an excess of business travelers. Temperatures are usually mild, in the mid-50s.

• The famous Consumer Electronics Show brings nearly 200,000 people to the city every year in early January.

February in Las Vegas

Thanks to the Super Bowl and Valentine's Day, February is a favorite month in Las Vegas . Midweek is less expensive and crowded, but like January, many conventions call the city home during the winter. Good deals are found especially if you avoid the weekends. The pools are not an option yet, but February is a great time to hit the golf courses.

• Super Bowl weekend is always popular in Las Vegas. Expect great watch-parties and nightclubs packing with celebrity guests.
• Book early if you're planning to head to Vegas for Valentine's Day—hotel prices can skyrocket.

March in Las Vegas

This is March Madness season—in more ways than one. While the NCAA Tournament draws sports' fans, it's also Spring Break season. Get ready for an influx of college students, but surprisingly, costs aren't excessive. You‘ll find spring break specials as well as happy hour specials at most of the resorts. College kids don’t have that much cash, so you have to entice them to come on in. If you like the party atmosphere, weekends are best during late March .

• NASCAR usually comes to Vegas in early March for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.
• Thousands come to Vegas every March to wager on the NCAA March Madness basketball tournament.

April in Las Vegas

If it's relaxation by the pool you seek, April is a great time to visit. The weather is excellent, with average high temperatures hovering around 75 degrees Fahrenheit and most of the college visitors are back in classes. Convention season also dies down around this time.

• Taste more than 500 different kinds of beer at the Great Vegas Festival of Beer, with food pairings to match.

May in Las Vegas

Summer season in Vegas starts in May, as the pools start getting crazy and Memorial Day parties take place all month long. Midweek in May is a fabulous time to visit, and you'll likely be able to find tremendous deals early in the month. By the end of the month, prices will go up and weekends can be much more expensive.

• Vegas pool parties heat up again in May, especially over Memorial Day weekend. Expect celebs and top-ranked DJs galore at these hotel oases.

June in Las Vegas

As kids get out of school, the splash factor goes way up in those chairs right near the water. Midweek will see a lot more people, and some of the peace gives way to more traditional day and night Las Vegas fun. Hide out at the Bellagio pool or in one of the smaller pools at Palazzo Las Vegas. It’s hot, but it is not mid-summer hot yet, with high temperatures averaging 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

July in Las Vegas

July is the hottest time of the year, but also one of the best months to find deals. The pools will be crowded with every type of visitor from the families to the party people, and there are no shortages of small swimsuits or cocktail specials. If you don't mind heat or crowds, July is a fun time of the year to visit.

• Professional basketball's NBA Summer League comes to Vegas each summer; you can see the NBA's top talent and some up-and-coming young players.
• The World Series of Poker runs for two weeks in early July. Put your game face on.

August in Las Vegas

It always feels warmer in August even though the weather very similar to July: High temperatures average around 105 degrees, while lows are in the mid-70s. In August, the crowds thin out near the end of the month as kids and their cannonballs go back to school. It is not unheard of to find a remarkable deal at the end of the month and to find a pool without a mad rush of people seeking lounge chairs. Prices are still excellent, and people are generally still having a lot of fun in the day life and nightlife arenas.

• Each August, Vegas hosts, MAGIC, the country's largest fashion marketplace. More than 80,000 people attend to see the latest trends in apparel and footwear.
• Def Con, the world's largest hacker conference, usually comes to town in August.
• CinemaCon , held at Caesars Palace, brings in movers and shakers from the movie industry.

September in Las Vegas

September is another great time to visit Las Vegas, as mid-week prices are great and the pools are relaxing without the crazy heat. Walk the Strip in comfort and have a seat on an outdoor patio while you sip handcrafted cocktails. If you need to relax, September is as good as it gets.

• Vegas's Life Is Beautiful music festival takes place in mid-to-late September.

October in Las Vegas

October can be a bit of a crazy month in Las Vegas: Prices are expensive, and somehow Halloween seems to flow right into Thanksgiving. The parties are great but there are many crowds and convention season is picking back up again. Also, many hotel pools will close in October.

• Going on since 1995, the Fetish and Fantasy Ball at the Hard Rock is an October must-do. This Halloween extravaganza features DJs and performers and more.
• Even the Mandalay Bay's Shark Reef aquarium gets into the Halloween spirit, transforming into an eery haunted shark reef for a few days every October.

November in Las Vegas

November marks the start of the holiday season and the possibility to wear a nice sweater, as temperatures have retreated into the mid-60s. Restaurant menus are celebrated during the fall season because the talented people in the kitchens of Las Vegas start breaking out the rich, hearty dishes that are put away during the warmer months. Midweek prices are excellent during this time of the year and stay this way throughout December.

• Enjoy a grand holiday feast on Thanksgiving day, when Las Vegas restaurants offer decadent meals, ranging from classic buffets to modern gastronomic experiences.

December in Las Vegas

December is an excellent month for Las Vegas deal-seekers. The weather is much colder, and the crowds are thin. Meanwhile, holiday displays are everywhere, and if you love the lights, you’ll spend plenty of time taking it all in with fewer people around to ruin your pictures.

• New Year's Eve in Las Vegas is one of the largest celebrations in the world, second only to New York City. Nearly a half-million people flock to the Strip to celebrate.

The best time to visit Las Vegas is the last week of April through the second week of May. The pools are open, spring break crowds are gone, and the weather is perfect.

The cheapest months for booking a flight to Vegas are January, February, April, and September. Lodging rates tend to be lower during these months, as well, and you avoid the summer crowds.

Late November through December and early January through February are traditionally the slowest months in Vegas, with the exception of Thanksgiving weekend, which has gained popularity as a favorite time to travel.

• Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa Tuesday, July 4 at 9 p.m.
• Visitors can view the Caesars Palace fireworks on Tuesday, July 4 from the resort’s iconic Front Fountains. An elevated view is available at GIADA at The Cromwell, where an al fresco dining experience complements the show in the sky.
• Legacy Club at Circa Resort & Casino presents its Star-Spangled Glamour celebration on Tuesday, July 4. The rooftop cocktail lounge offers sweeping views of the evening’s fireworks displays in addition to a selection of craft cocktails, patriotic bites and live music.
• Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa & Casino, in partnership with City of Henderson, presents a Fireworks Viewing Party from the resort’s Backyard area on Tuesday, July 4. Visitors will be provided with complimentary light-up necklaces and are welcome to enjoy frozen treats, snacks, and beverages for purchase.
• Main Street from Carson Avenue to Ogden Avenue in front of Plaza Hotel & Casino will be closed to vehicular traffic from 8:45 p.m. to 9:10 p.m. to offer visitors prime viewpoints of the resort’s fireworks display. The hotel’s recently opened outdoor Carousel Bar also offers additional spots to see the show.
• Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa presents a Fireworks Viewing Party at its Sandbar pool on Tuesday, July 4, with admission including complimentary light-up necklaces. Visitors can enjoy beverages and pizza from Side Piece Pizza for purchase, as well as opportunities to book cabanas for the pyrotechnic show. The resort also features live music on the T-Bones Chophouse patio that same evening.

Tips for Visiting Las Vegas in July

• Get tickets as soon as you know what shows you want to see. Popular shows & concerts sell out fast!
• Read all the fine print before heading to a show – some have restrictions on what you can bring with you.
• Save money  on multiple attractions, and get the  All-Inclusive or Explorer Pass .
• Sunscreen  is a must, especially if you’re doing outdoor activities.
• Plan to arrive early for  meals and shows.  It takes longer than you think to get from one spot on the strip to another. Give yourself a buffer.

What to Wear in Vegas in July

July is hot, especially during the day, but the AC keeps the casinos cold.

• Bring layers  – layers are essential for visiting Las Vegas. As the temperatures get hot outside, they crank up AC inside.  These are our favorite travel jackets .
• Dressy clothes  – pack them if you plan on going clubbing or eating at nicer restaurants. You will see a mix of tourists in casinos dressed both up and down.
• Shoes  – If you’re going out at night, you’ll probably bring heels or dress shoes, but make sure you bring a pair of  comfortable travel shoes  as well. The casinos are massive, and you walk a lot to get from place to place.

Is July the Best time to Visit Las Vegas?

If you’re mostly going to be indoors on the Strip, visit any time of the year since the temperature won’t matter.

For outdoor activities like hiking and climbing, you should visit between November and March. But if you’re here for the pool parties and lake life, this is the time!

In our opinion, we like leaving Vegas during July and August, but you do you!

Las Vegas in July

Despite the excessive desert heat that has the potential to blanket Sin City in July, it is a popular month for tourism. There is no truly defined low season in Sin City, so its hard to say when you’ll find the best Las Vegas deals . People who avoid hot summer months don’t put Las Vegas on their agenda for July, but sun worshipers are out in full force, and it’s a sure bet that the pools will be packed. With school out and weeks to go before summer comes to an end, visitors are happy, care-free and content to sweat, as long as they can do so with a cool beverage next to a pool with an air-conditioned building nearby. If you visit in July, expect to run into crowds, but most people are excited to be on vacation and the heat seems to slow everyone down a bit, so it doesn’t feel stressful.

If you’ve heard it once, you’ve probably heard it a million times: July heat in Las Vegas is dry, not humid, so it doesn’t feel as hot as it is. It’s true that the city experiences a dry climate, but it is still hot, and you should be prepared to sweat. High temperatures are almost consistently above 100F and frequently hit 115F. Add some wind into the equation and you might as well be walking in a blow dryer.

Mornings and evenings are cooler (with temperatures in the low 80s) and much more pleasant for a round of golf or a morning run. During the day, however, keep your sunblock nearby and either hunker down at the nearest pool or stay cool in an air-conditioned casino or hotel. Many visitors suffer from heat exhaustion or dehydration in the summer, especially if they’ve been drinking, so drink lots of water throughout the day as well.

People generally come to Las Vegas in July for the packed pool parties, which are frequently hosted by celebrities with renown DJs, but there are also several events throughout the city to keep you busy. The Fourth of July is arguably the most significant day of the month, with fireworks displays around town and the annual Boulder City Damboree Celebration , which takes place southeast of the city near Hoover Dam.

The World Series of Poker also continues in July. Most events are held at the Rio and are open to the public. A number of celebrities make an appearance during the annual World Series of Poker, so you may spot a few stars on the casino floor.

As surprising as it may seem, there are also farmers’ markets throughout the month of July in Las Vegas. These are normally held in the city’s parks on set days of the week. It’s always a good idea to check the Las Vegas Parks and Recreation guide as well, which provides information on movies in the parks and neighborhood events taking place around the city.

Las Vegas Weather in July: Essential Climate Guide

Introduction.

If I had to pick a month to avoid visiting Vegas, this would be it. Oddly enough though, July is actually one of the busiest months of the year! There are two main reasons for this - 4th of July and summer vacations. It is easily the hottest month of the year with normal highs ranging from 103F/39C to 105F/41C. What’s worse is there are normally 6 days above 110F/43C. On the bright side, July is usually the start of the monsoon season bringing occasional thunderstorms and heavy rain. In this post I will detail what to expect when you visit Las Vegas in July.

Temperatures

July temperatures are downright dangerous if you aren’t prepared. Last year (2023) every day was over 100F and more than half of which were over 110F. Brutal! Three times it has hit Vegas’ all-time high of 117F, most recently in 2021. Even after sunset temperatures can remain in the 100s, only reaching the minimum at daybreak. Low temperatures normally don’t drop much below 80F. Before the year 2000, low temperatures that never dropped below 90F were very rare. Only three times had it occurred between 1937 and 2000. Since the build-up of the city and the effect of the urban heat island, it has happened 54 times since 2000! In fact, just last year (2023) it happened an amazing 8 times in July. It is becoming normal. More hours of heat means more health related issues for tourists and even for workers in the city who spend significant time outdoors, even at night.

I find the best way to get a feel for the weather is by looking at what happened in a previous year. Here is the latest actual July temperatures (2023) .

July 2023 was a terrible year for heat. In fact, it was easily the warmest month ever recorded in Las Vegas. The monsoon never kicked in and there were 10 days in a row over 110F/43C.

Las Vegas is somewhat affected by a summer monsoon season. This just means there is an increase in moisture in the air which results in occasional thunderstorms. Unlike Arizona where the monsoon is the bulk of the average annual rainfall, Las Vegas receives more rain in the winter months. The Las Vegas monsoon can be characterized by fits and starts because it doesn’t occur with any regularity. Certain weather patterns lead to several days of thunderstorms, but even those are hit and miss and occur more over the mountains. The average rain for the month is still only 0.38” and only 17 times in history has Vegas had great than 0.50” in July. By contrast, Phoenix, Arizona had 42 times in the same number of years and receives near 1.00” of rain during July.

What To Pack

In July it’s all about keeping cool. Bring light weight, loose fitting clothing.

Be sure to keep sun protection handy at all times. Sunglasses, hat, and sunscreen are essential in July - especially if you will be at the pool.

Reusable water bottle

An umbrella isn’t a bad idea this month in case there is a sudden thunderstorm. They can be hard to find on the strip after the rain starts and you may pay inflated prices.

Comfortable shoes are a must. Las Vegas involves a lot of walking, especially along the Strip. Comfortable shoes are essential to prevent getting tired and blisters.

Swimwear is necessary if you plan to take a dip.

Don’t Forget These Other Things:

A portable charger. I know from experience if you forget one it’s gonna cost you an exorbitant amount to replace it if you have to buy it on the Strip.

Remember to pack your necessary medications as well as personal care items like toiletries, hand sanitizer, and lip balm.

Don't forget to bring your ID, credit cards, travel insurance information, and any other essential documents you may need for your trip. Seems obvious but I’ve done it.

Sunrise/Sunset

Sunrise on July 1st starts at 5:27 AM. By the end of the month the sunrise is 5:47 AM. Sunset at the beginning of the month is 7:57 PM and by the end is 7:46 PM. There is about 14 hours of daylight each day. Remember, Las Vegas is in the Pacific Time Zone - same as Los Angeles.

Safety Tips

Stay hydrated: It’s starting to get hot and the desert is very dry! Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated, even if it’s a little cool. And remember alcohol adds to dehydration . Frozen alcoholic drinks can even give you stomach cramps.

Lightweight Clothing: During the daytime you’ll need lightweight and breathable clothing. Opt for materials like cotton or linen, which allow air circulation and help you stay cool.

Protect against sun exposure: The sun is intense in July in the desert. Wear sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to shield yourself from harmful UV rays, especially if you’re hiking or golfing.

Know Your Limits: Las Vegas offers a wide range of distractions and people seem to forget walking outside from casino to casino can take its toll when it’s hot. Pace yourself, drink responsibly, and take advantage of air conditioning often.

I cannot recommend doing a lengthy outdoor activity like hiking or golfing. If you must, start right at sunrise and be very prepared.

If you encounter monsoon thunderstorms, avoid being hit by lightning by going indoors. Many pools and outdoor attractions close with the threat of lightning anyway. If you’re driving, understand that heavy rain will just run off causing flash flooding. Do not try to drive through a flood road. Many roads outside of Vegas dip down into a normally dry wash which can fill up many feet deep and easily wash away you and your car!

Avoid flooded roads during summer thunderstorms.

Even in downtown Las Vegas, flash flooding can be dangerous. Not only is this water swift but who knows what nastiness is lurking in that brown water.

July is a brutal month. The heat is literally a killer if you are not prepared for it. If last year’s record breaking temperatures are any indication of things to come, it will only get more dangerous. If you do visit in July, stay indoors as much as possible. If you insist on doing outdoor activities like hiking, biking, or golf, try to do it right at sunrise. Be prepared for the dry weather and sunshine by having lots of water on hand as well as sun protection.

July 2024 Shows and Events in Las Vegas

Fourth of July Las Vegas

The Fourth of July in Vegas is an all-day party at The LINQ Promenade where family-friendly activities will be happening.

If you are looking for a party scene, be sure to check out all the pool parties and Vegas residencies at the top clubs.

No one puts on a 4th of July fireworks show and experiences like Las Vegas.

Caesars Palace will all have spectacular fireworks displays starting at 10 pm. Fireworks will be visible from everywhere in Las Vegas, but you won’t find a bad spot on the strip to stop and watch the show.

The Plaza Hotel in Downtown Las Vegas celebrates the holiday with a 10 pm firework show with fireworks launching from multiple vantage points on the hotel property. There will be plenty of space for pedestrians to gather and watch since the streets are being shut down between Carson Avenue and Ogden on Main Street.

If you want to get off-strip and away from the downtown crowds, head out to Red Rock Resort or Green Valley Ranch Resort. Each hotel will have a 10-minute display of fireworks launching at 9 pm.

If you’re interested in a theatrical experience, you can almost always rely on Cirque du Soleil to host several shows in Las Vegas each month.

5. Save Money With a Tourist Pass

If you’re planning to see and do as much as possible while visiting Las Vegas, a tourist pass might be one of the best ways to save money on various activities of interest.

There are a few different types of passes, but the basic idea is that you’ll be paying a set price for multiple attractions.

Using these services, you can usually save up to 50% or more off general admission prices.

6. Attend a Sporting Event

There will be several opportunities to catch live sports in Las Vegas in July.

7. Play at the Pinball Hall of Fame 

It costs nothing to enter this pinball machine museum which is 10,000 square feet of restored pinball machines. Do bring quarters if you plan on playing the machines.

You can enjoy your pinball, even more, knowing that proceeds from gameplay and the candy machines are donated to the Salvation Army

The  Pinball Hall of Fame  is open from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm every day. Needless to say, this is an ideal place to bring the kids.

8. Take a Bus Tour

See a lot in a shorter amount of time from the comfort of an air-conditioned bus. 

Hop-on-hop-off bus tours allow you to get on and off the bus whenever you want to see more of any of the sites along the route.

Big Bus Tours  is the main bus tour company in Las Vegas and the only company that provides live commentary during the tour.

There are other types of bus tours available, like night bus tours, and themed tours like a Pawn Stars Bus Tour and a Mob Bus Tour.

9. Celebrate Independence Day

July 4th is one of the most important holidays in the United States, and most people celebrate with fireworks, BBQs, and other fun family activities.

That said, it’s important to note that fireworks are actually illegal in Las Vegas, so if you want to enjoy this type of activity, you’ll have to go to a special event where fireworks have been permitted.

Here are a few options to consider:

• Station Casinos (Red Rock Resort/Green Valley Ranch)

10. Attend a Dive-In Movie at The Cosmopolitan

While drive-in movies are becoming popular once again following the pandemic, Las Vegas is home to an entirely different kind of communal movie viewing experience: The Dive-In!

Throughout the summer, The Cosmopolitan hosts a movie night by their pool each week, giving visitors the chance to enjoy a popular film while keeping cool in the pool.

Here are the movies playing in July 2024:

11. Experience the Sphere

The recently opened $1.2 billion MSG Sphere is the world's largest spherical structure.

Concerts, sporting events, films, and award shows will take place at the venue, which has enough room for up to 25,000 people!

What's impressive at first glance are the millions of LEDs covering the outside of the building.

Inside, it's just as impressive, with a stunning and even changing backdrop to the performers on the stage.

The immersive Darren Aronofsky film,  Postcard from Earth , is shown on a screen that's the size of four football fields.

Note that visitors to the Sphere have discussed the steepness of the seating but have said that those afraid of heights will soon feel comfortable.

12. Attend the First Friday Festival

On July 5, Las Vegas will be celebrating its First Friday Festival.

This event focuses on the work of local artists such as painters, photographers, jewelers, and more.

This festival will take place in the Downtown Arts District on 1st Street.

There will be more than 80 venues and 50 outdoor artists providing fun activities and attractions.

The best part about this activity is that it's entirely free! All you have to do is show up and have fun. This is a great way to see the artistic vision of Las Vegas artists.

July in Las Vegas can get hot, especially during the day with the desert sun; however, there are plenty of things to do in Las Vegas in July that make it worth the summer trip. 

From pool parties to cool off and big-name headliners to magic shows and sporting events, there is something for everyone to keep their mind off of the heat. 

The Las Vegas events in July are always a hit, so take a look at the impressive lineup of Las Vegas shows and events in July for the coming year. 

4th of July Events 

If you are looking for 4th of July fireworks in Las Vegas, you are in luck. 

Bill Maher – July 22nd & 23rd

Happy together tour 2022 – july 15th.

There are seven different resorts and hotels on the Las Vegas Strip that are setting off fireworks including Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood, The Aria, Treasure Island, Resorts World , and more. 

Downtown Las Vegas won’t be left out as The Plaza will also be doing its annual firework show. 

Of course, many of the resorts around Las Vegas will have special events going on at their pools and on-property for the holiday weekend. 

UFC 276 – International Fight Week 

UFC 276 is a highlight for International Fight Week in addition to a two-day interactive experience and a full schedule for the week should be announced soon. 

UFC 276 will take place at T Mobile Arena and will feature big names on the fight card. Though the fight card also hasn’t been announced yet, it is expected that Conor McGregor or Jon Jones may be a part of the main event. 

It is one of the most talked-about upcoming events in Las Vegas.

Aviators Home Game – 9 Games in July

The Aviators are a local baseball team in Las Vegas. They put on quite the show and have nine home games in July, making them a great Las Vegas event to catch for the whole family. Eat, drink, and watch the game.

The 2022 Summer Las Vegas Market offers home decor, furniture, gifts, and other goods for you to peruse. If you are looking for a laid-back event in Las Vegas, the summer market is just the thing.

Looking for a laugh? These three performances are sure to keep you laughing. 

Trevor Noah: Back To Abnormal – July 8th & 9th

Trevor Noah is an internationally recognized comedian with eight comedy specials to his name. He was supposed to make an official return to Las Vegas last year in July 2021, but they were rescheduled to this year on the eighth and ninth!

Daniel Tosh – July 15th & 16th

Coming to The Mirage Theater as a part of the Aces of Comedy lineup, Daniel Tosh is one of the most hysterical comedians in the industry right now and his new set for Las Vegas is sure to be a hit. 

Another big name of the Aces of Comedy lineup at The Mirage Theater is Bill Maher, who has been pushing the boundaries of comedy for decades. With 41 Emmy nominations, Bill Maher is another performance that is not to be missed in July. 

Music Events Las Vegas July

The Las Vegas shows in July include a killer lineup of music events. Music fans of every genre will find one of these concerts fun and exciting.

Las Vegas Tribute Festival – July 14th

The Las Vegas Tribute Festival will take place at Sam’s Town Live where Elvis used to perform and features fan-friendly activities like performance competitions, look-alike contests, and of course the Elvis tribute concert finale. 

The Black Keys – July 9th

The Black Keys Dropout Boogie Tour is coming to the MGM Grand Garden Arena for one night only with special guests Band of Horses. 

The Lumineers Brightside Tour – July 24th

The Lumineers Brightside Tour is coming to Las Vegas at the Garden Arena at MGM Grand with special guests Daniel Rodriguez and Gregory Alan Isakov. They will also be partnering with REVERB.org, a non-profit that helps reduce the environmental impact of the tour. 

King of Las Vegas Festival – July 8th-10th

The King of Las Vegas Festival is another Elvis Presley tribute taking place at Westgate Resort. It was originally scheduled for July of 2021, though now it will be back this year. 

Hosted by Linda Thompson, the festival will feature tribute artists, live musicians, and other entertainers that embody the spirit that Elvis brought to Las Vegas. 

Exodus Festival x Desert Drip – June 30th- July 4th

The Exodus Festival and Desert Drip are partnered together to make one of the biggest lineups of EDM and Hip Hop in Las Vegas. The Exodus Festival is EDM while Desert Drip is hip hop, though you can get combo tickets to attend them both!

Las Vegas Cannabis Awards Music Festival – July 10th

The 4th Annual Cannabis Awards Music Festival will take place at the Sahara Event Center. Featuring 3 stages with entertainment such as Lil Xan, DJ Sheepwolf, and Mike Jones, this 21 and over event is a favorite each year. 

In its thirteenth year, the Happy Together Tour will be coming to The Smith Center. It is a show with chart-topping hits from the ’60s and ’70s that is outrageously fun which is why it is always one of the annual performances set for Las Vegas with July dates.

This is your ultimate to-do list for Las Vegas on July 4 weekend, covering everything from fireworks to baseball

July 4 in Las Vegas ? That is the stuff of partying dreams. It should be no surprise to hear that the world’s entertainment capital goes all-out over the holidays, with a conveyor belt of fireworks, parades, pool parties , and concerts on offer as Vegas proves itself as king once more. ‘Fireworks’ should be in block capitals, as the skies above Vegas light up in a display of pyrotechnics unlike any other. Find a spot to watch and let the aesthetic explosions do the rest.

The best things to do in Las Vegas over the July 4 weekend tick every box. Extravagant nightlife and ostentatious entertainment are the norm here. However, there is something for everyone, as long as the ‘everyone’ in question is okay with crowds. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, although these memories will last a lifetime. A contradiction, sure, but that’s Vegas for you.

1.  Fireworks

It wouldn’t be Vegas without fireworks. The skies over Sin City will erupt with color during Independence weekend. Where to begin? There are no bad options, but The Plaza Hotel’s annual extravaganza kicks off at 9 pm and is as decadent as it gets. The firework displays at Caesar’s Palace, Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa & Casino, and Red Rock Resort Casino & Spa all start simultaneously, with several other explosive extravaganzas taking place in the days before July 4. All those spots also have specially designated viewing events, ensuring nobody misses out on the show.

2.  Pool parties

When in Vegas, you don’t need to complicate things. Get in the pool, and get ready to party. The Vegas sun is sweltering in July, so it is a foregone conclusion that a considerable amount of time will be spent in and by the pool. Most Vegas resorts host themed pool parties over the holidays, but a few take it to the next level. John Summit, Alesso, and Mustard are on tap at The Venetian , while DJ Shift and Steve Aoki will keep the masses moving at the Wet Republic Ultra Pool (MGM Grand). Marquee Dayclub , Ayu Dayclub, and Drai’s Beachclub are also worth checking out over the weekend. Go wild, but don’t forget the sun cream. Hangovers are bad enough without burning.

3.  Concerts and comedy shows

Las Vegas is the live entertainment capital of the world, and getting a primetime performance booked in the city for July 4 is a real feather in any artist’s cap. 2023 is no different, with a variety of megastars hitting the city over the holidays, including R&B icon Usher (Dolby Live at Park MGM), country star Carrie Underwood (Resorts World Theater), British comedian Jack Whitehall (Encore Theater), and many more. Vegas classics such as the Blue Man Group and Cirque du Soleil are also on the schedule.

What is there to say about partying in Vegas that hasn’t already been said? Sin City is the world’s party capital all year round, but the holidays are another beast entirely, with many clubs hosting their biggest events on and around July 4. ARIA Resort & Casino’s JEWEL Nightclub hosts DJ Pauly D (Jersey Shore) on July 2 and 3, while Nelly (yes, that Nelly) takes the stage at Hakkasan Nightclub on June 30. Elsewhere, OMNIA, Marquee, and XS promise something special. Dress the part, and get ready for the party of a lifetime.

5.  Summerlin Patriotic Parade & Henderson Celebration

While the reputation of Vegas as an adult’s playground is very much warranted, Sin City is a surprisingly good destination for family fun as well. There are several family options on July 4, with the Summerlin Patriotic Parade at the top of the list. Just 20 minutes or so from the Strip, Summerlin’s annual parade is a veritable feast of patriotic fun, with balloons, floats, live bands, flags, and more. Not to be outdone, the Henderson Fourth of July Celebration touches on much of the same, only with added foam and water fun.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a place of high-octane excitement all year round, but the temperature ramps up on Independence Day weekend with the famous Night of Fire. The ever-popular event is held at the Bullring and includes all types of spectacles, from waterless boat races to nostalgia street rod outlaws. Yes, there will be fireworks. Night of Fire takes place on July 3, with gates opening at 5 pm and racing starting at 7:05 pm.

Vegas is fast becoming a Mecca for sports fans of all types, with the Golden Knights recent Stanley Cup victory and the latest trophy coming to town. The schedule calms a little over the holidays, but this is Vegas, ‘calm’ here isn’t exactly calm everywhere else. Soccer fans will pack the stands at Cashman Field to see the Las Vegas Lights take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies (July 1) and New Mexico United (July 4). No Independence Day weekend is complete without America’s pastime, so head to the Las Vegas Ballpark to see the Las Vegas Aviators and the Round Rock Express do battle (July 1 - 3). Moving indoors onto the basketball court, the reigning WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces comes up against the Connecticut Sun on July 1.

We can’t even lie, 4th of July in Las Vegas is pretty rad. Scratch that, Vegas in July is ridiculously rad! There’s a ton of things to do and even more places to see. If you’re not out soaking up some rays next to one of the numerous hotel pools in town, you’re catching a summer concert in Vegas at Mandalay Beach or The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. To tell you the truth, Las Vegas entertainment, as a whole is next level, so it doesn’t really matter which show you see or where, it’s going to be good. Blue Man Group at Luxor? Great! Many people wonder if visiting Las Vegas during the hot months of July and August is a good idea or not. This is honestly one of my favorite times of the year in Vegas because it’s pool season!

So how hot does it actually get in Las Vegas during July and August?

You’ll encounter summer temperatures in Las Vegas from mid-June to about the middle of September. The months of July and August, however, are when things really heat up in Vegas, with average daily high temperatures between 104°F to 107°F (40°C to 41.6°C).

While this might not be the best time of the year for outdoor sightseeing, there is still plenty to do in Las Vegas when it’s hot.

In this article, I’ll tell you about the weather in Las Vegas in July and August and highlight some fun things to do when it’s scorching hot outside.

Here is what the weather is generally like in Las Vegas in July and August.

How Hot is Las Vegas in July?

July is the warmest month of the year. Since the average high temperature in Las Vegas in July is 107°F (41.6°C) ( source ), it is advised to stay inside unless you’re lounging by one of Vegas’s amazing pools and to drink plenty of water.

While there could be a few sprinkles in Las Vegas in July, the weather is mostly clear, and rain is unlikely to interfere with any of your plans. The average rainfall during the month of July is just .35 inches.

How Hot is Las Vegas in August?

In the early part of August, afternoon average high temperatures typically range from 104 to 106 F (40 to 41°C), with a slight drop to 99 to 102 F (37 to 39°C) toward the end of the month. The average low temperature is 77.2 degrees Fahrenheit (25°C).

Some of the sweltering afternoons, particularly towards the end of July and the beginning of August, can get as hot as 110°F. (43°C) or more. August in Las Vegas offers plenty of sunshine with a low chance of rain even though August is considered monsoon season. Even during monsoon season, it’s unlikely that rain will disturb your Vegas plans.

Having said that, August is the wettest month in Las Vegas, with an average rainfall of .55 inches during the month.

Should You Visit Las Vegas During Summer?

Las Vegas is the epitome of a relaxing summer vacation. Even while some tourists and locals would say that vacationing in Las Vegas when it’s hot is to be avoided, millions of visitors still flock to Sin City in July and August. They enjoy the sunny days and bright clear skies.

As long as you are prepared and carefully choose your activities, Las Vegas is still a happening destination, even when it’s hot. In fact, Sin City is buzzing with great summer energy, which adds to the overall party atmosphere.

Visiting Las Vegas during July and August is also less expensive than many other months since the heat does keep some of the crowds away. These are both great months for many travelers to visit Las Vegas despite the heat. You can still enjoy everything Vegas is renowned for, including the lively nightlife, casinos, attractions, and pool parties. 

Even though the weather in Las Vegas is hot, every casino and indoor attraction is heavily air-conditioned, and almost all hotels offer pools. Also, if you are thinking of celebrating the Fourth of July in Vegas, you can enjoy the beautiful firework display along the strip.

Things to Do In Las Vegas When It’s Hot

July and August are great times of year to visit Las Vegas as there are plenty of ways to keep cool in Vegas during the summer months. Here are a few ideas:

• Gondola Rides – Take a gondola ride down a romantic canal inside The Venetian Resort .
• M&M Store – Explore 4-levels (28,000 sq ft.) of colorful M&M Candies fun.
• Escape Rooms – Las Vegas is home to some of the best escape rooms you’ve ever seen.
• Water Parks – Water parks….yep…Vegas has got them. Visit one of the top water parks in Las Vegas .
• Bellagio Conservatory – Take a walk through an amazing indoor floral display at The Bellagio .
• Museums – Check out one of these 23 weird and wild Las Vegas museums .
• Art Galleries – Visit one of Las Vegas’s many art galleries .
• High Roller – Jump on one of the tallest observation wheels in the world for some amazing views!
• Movie Theater – Hit up one of the best movie theaters in Vegas for a cool show.
• Aquariums – For the middle of the desert, Las Vegas has an amazing collection of aquariums !

I’m not gonna lie, July and August in Las Vegas is hot! However, you can still enjoy a comfortable vacation as many of Las Vegas’s top attractions are located indoors.

Las Vegas is top domestic summer travel destination for US residents

Travel website Tripadvisor is predicting a busy summer season in Las Vegas this year.

According to Tripadvisor’s annual Summer Travel Index , 95% of respondents are planning to travel as much (51%) or more (44%) than last summer. The study also determined that over a quarter (26%) of Americans are planning to spend $5,000 or more on their summer vacations.

For those opting for vacations in the United States, Tripadvisor says Sin City is at the top of the list, as Las Vegas came in at number one for the top domestic travel destinations for U.S. citizens.

Residents looking to travel out of the country this summer are turning toward Mexico the most, according to the study, with Cancun taking the top spot in terms of top global summer travel destinations for U.S. citizens.

Sahara is installing new technology in its parking garage that’s raising questions on whether it’s about to start charging for parking.

The service will be offered four times per week to start.

Plans to relocate the museum to Las Vegas from Topeka, Kansas was first announced in 2021.

The two sporting events — one held on the UNLV campus and one coming to Allegiant Stadium — will receive a total $6.2 million in financial backing.

This Is the No. 1 U.S. Summer Destination, According to Tripadvisor

The travel company says Americans are eyeing destinations with entertainment, sporting events, and adventure.

Americans are gearing up for summer travel in a big way, with 95 percent of travelers in a Tripadvisor survey saying they plan to travel as much or more than they did last year. And when it comes to where they’re heading, all eyes are on the bright lights of Las Vegas. 

The desert destination tops the list of most popular domestic destinations for U.S. travelers in the company’s 2024 Summer Travel Index , released yesterday. After all, the Nevada city offers what Tripadvisor says Americans are looking for the most in the summer months: entertainment, sporting events, and adventure. 

Some of the biggest names in entertainment will be hosting Vegas residences this summer, including Adele at Caesars Palace , Carrie Underwood at Resorts World Theatre , Christina Aguilera at The Venetian Las Vegas , Garth Brooks at Caesars Palace , Shania Twain at Planet Hollywood , and Mariah Carey at Park MGM , as well as Dead & Company at the buzzy new venue The Sphere .

The city’s Allegiant Stadium will host key matches of the Copa America 2024 soccer tournament from June 26 to July 6, while the NFL season for the Las Vegas Raiders starts up in the late summer. Adventure seekers have plenty of options in the region, including Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, and the Red Rocks Canyon , all within an hour’s drive.

Also on Americans’ summer travel goals are warm-weather destinations: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, came in second, followed by Orlando in third; Honolulu in fourth; Key West in seventh; Ocean City, Maryland in eighth; and San Diego in ninth. A trio of urban getaways also made the top 10, with New York City in fifth, Chicago in sixth, and Boston in 10th. 

Tripadvisor also released the fastest-growing domestic destinations, with California’s Yosemite National Park topping the list, followed by College Station, Texas; Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; Pocono Manor, Pennsylvania; and Waimea, Hawaii. 

To come up with the list, Tripadvisor looked at searches between Feb. 1 and April 15 of this year for travel between June and August.

In a separate study released by Airbnb, Las Vegas also topped the list of trending summer destinations .

Is this a topless pool party?

Anyone know what is and isn't allowed in? I cannot find it on their site.

Bluetooth speakers and glass containers are not allowed in. It seemed like technically outside food and beverages were not allowed in either but I still saw people bringing in Starbucks. They will do a bag check

Yesterday, our friends rented a cabana at the Mandalay Bay Beach (there were two chairs with a table inside, a settee, a fully stocked refrigerator- water and soft drinks, a TV was on, as well as a trash can; there were two lounge chairs, covered in towels, in front of the cabana- #18). It was our first time here. We had wristbands (in case we wanted to leave but come back). Our hosts were Liz, Tam, and Ever. They were great and they kept checking in on us. Nice people too. Thank You! We ordered food. Not sure where the food comes from, but it was very good. Hubby got the burger with fries- he could not stop raving about it, I got the parmesan chicken sandwich- the flavor was yummy, the bun was nice & buttery, with fries, I think they used peanut oil (we split both), and the stringbean got chicken fingers with fries- the breading was good, it tasted good, were his words (he got full so we finished the rest of it). I'd say that the portions were very good, very generous. With tip, it was over $70 (but we didn't get alcohol, for three full size meals). (There were lots of people bringing food deliveries to guests.) TIP #1: It's hot, in August, in the 100's (the hottest month in Las Vegas), monsoon season started in July, so wear your sandals! One of the kids in our group got a blister on his foot because he forgot to wear his sandals. The music is a mix of pop and rock. Something for mostly everyone. TIP #2: Bring your sunblock, apply it, and re-apply it, every few hours. I tan in five minutes (the boy tans like me, a golden brown) but I still wear it, especially since we were there for several hours. Hubby was burning so he said the next time, he'd bring a cap. I also had my visor and sunglasses on. There were two lagoons, one was east, one was west (there were two hot tubs in each lagoon area), there was the beach area, with sand (I imagine the sand would be very hot), in front of the wave pool, which was split in to two sections, one you could sit, which may be for the younger set and the other, you could not sit (a little underwhelming), and the lazy river, which had two waterfalls (nicknamed "the crazy river", it was just busy with people in their floaties, so we were getting bumped a lot, the morning crowd was a lot nicer, saying, "Sorry" or "Excuse Me." There are height minimum requirements on the right side of the Wave Pool; the left side is where guests can sit in the water. Adults must accompany children in the Lazy River. We saw some band-aids which was not cool, so gross, seriously people? The area around the Lazy River was littered with drink cups or drink cans, but people were also carrying their drinks while inside the Lazy River. There were bathrooms (one stall was out of service in the womens bathroom), there were outdoor showers, there was a restaurant, and there was a bar. We didn't go into the lagoon that was further away, or the left side of the wave pool, and we didn't go the beach area either. We did take a few minutes to take some pictures of the entire area. We saw the lifeguards change frequently and we also saw the porters collecting trash, so this is a well-maintained busy area. About recycling, it's handled by staff at the casino, so the drink containers (cans/bottles/etc.) are recycled, which was good to know. I also saw broken down boxes in a large cart- it was filled. KUDOS for the facility recycling, save our Earth! We had to leave because our son's Open House was last night, so our stringbean was sad. Two water attractions on the week before school, And the boy was sad. We were there for 4.5 hours. It was a lot of fun.

I don't know about you, but for me, I would rather prefer being by the beach over the pool any day. So what if you have that yearning, but are in Las Vegas? All the resorts have pools, not a big deal, in the big scheme of things. But Mandalay Bay, has, "The Beach". This is an area with a vast wave pool (no big waves anymore, at least for now. Ask them), that is encompassed by an area with beach sand and lounging chairs. Yes, you are not by the ocean, but this place can make you feel that you are almost there. In this environment, you also have a lazy river. There is also Beach Bar and Grill. It will do the job to feed and wet your insides, so that you can work on your tan, uninterrupted. One good aspect here is that the music is not too loud and deafening. You can actually talk to your neighbor without screaming. The downside to this, at least when we were there was, that their choice of music (or DJ), needs serious reform. And one more....how about investing in a better sound system?

We have stayed here 3 times for a conference and never used this amenity until now. The staff in this area was amazing. Everyone couldn't be nicer and pleasant. They will hand you towels after you enter. Just be aware that this is only for Mandalay Bay hotel guests. The place is well kept. There are lots of beach chairs. There are several pools. They also provide poolside food/beverage service. It was a great place to just relax and catch up with a co-worker.

My family and I love it here. Came during Spring Break (April 10th). Busy but not too crazy. We were about to find lounge chairs when we came down around 11:00am. It was 90 degrees out but. We didn't purchase a lounge chair or umbrella which is red. Wasn't worth it for us because we hardly sat down. We were always in the water. *bring your own tube floaty and inflate it yourself. There's a station at the far end of the lazy River and it's free* Otherwise it's $30 to purchase.

This is the second time we've come here, and it's been great both times! Our server Jessica was wonderful, and Joaquim was so helpful when we needed anything else! It is definitely worth booking in advance and getting here early. We will be back for sure!

This pool complex truly is the main reason to book with Mandalay Bay or the Delano. The main attractions are definitely the lazy river and wave pool. While it is located in the Mandalay Bay, guests staying at the Delano also have access to this area. Sometimes the Delano room rates are cheaper than at the Mandalay Bay, so it's not a bad option to stay at Delano and walk over to this pool. Just a warning, the walk from Delano to the pool is about 7-8 minutes and you'll need to walk through the Mandalay Bay casino. Inflation Station/Pool Tubes: For those wondering if you can bring your own pool floaties/pool tubes - YES, you can bring your own to use in the lazy river. You can bring them deflated because they have a FREE inflation station near the lazy river. Save yourself the money and trouble by bringing your own inflatable tubes. Otherwise they were selling tubes for $30 each in the gift shop near the entrance (no rentals). Entrance/Bag Check: At the entrance, simply show your room key card to gain access. Employees will also check your bags. Prohibited items are bluetooth speakers, glass containers, and outside food/drinks (however I saw people bringing in Starbucks so not sure how strict they are about outside food/drinks). Crowds/Atmosphere: The pool opens early at 8 am and it is truly best to go early. During the busy summer months, I imagine this place would be like a zoo. On a summer weekday from 8 - 11 am, the crowds were manageable but thereafter, got much busier. Going early will also make it easier to find a free chair. There are lots and lots of free chairs available but the best chairs in my opinion are the ones right in front of the Beach Grill Restaurant, because those tended to stay shaded from the sun. In terms of the atmosphere, the vibes are very chill and family-friendly. This place is mainly filled with families. The Mandalay Bay in general is a pretty popular choice for people with kids simply because of the pool so this didn't come as a surprise. Pool Sections: - Lazy River: brought some tubes from home and had a good time. One of the days I went, the current didn't start until around 9:30 am. Other days, it started on time. Compared to the MGM lazy river, this one seems to be much cleaner. This is not heated. - Wave Pool: this really isn't too intimidating. I'm sure kids will like it but the waves aren't very strong. You get like one large wave for every 1-2 minutes or so. Just like the lazy river, the waves didn't start on time when the pool area opened at 8 am but on other days it opened on time. There are plenty of lifeguards on duty if you're worried about a safety issue. This is also not heated. Other than the lazy river and wave pool, there is also a normal pool and a spa/hot tub (though this was more lukewarm than warm). Beach Bar and Grill: In terms of purchasing food and drinks, there is a sit down restaurant with a bar and a fast service "to-go" style food stand. Obviously the food and drinks are overpriced but service and portions of food were decent. The drinks were also average. Overall: This is a fun and family-friendly pool complex, however wave pool isn't that exciting, the water can be really cold, and the wave pool/lazy river don't always start on time. Bring your own tubes!

Crazy, hot day this past Saturday in Vegas, but the fun time at Mandalay Bay Beach was so fun. Prior to our arrival in Vegas for the Labor Day weekend, I purchased a Beach Day Bed. Was it pricey? 100% yes. However, we we're right in the sand up against the wave pool. Not far from where we were, was the lazy river, and several other pools. The water in the pools was clean, cool, and very refreshing. Perfect for the 108 degree weather. We also ordered lunch and several cocktails during our full day at Mandalay Bay Beach. The food and drinks were great, but the service was even better. Our server was so friendly, and super attentive. Although it was super hot that day, we had a blast, and can't wait to visit the Mandalay Bay pool complex again.

Review#379....Walking Through Memory Lane to 'Mandalay Bay Beach' concert venue supporting Rocker Artist from AI, Top2 Finalist, 2009, Adam Lambert. So like some music aficionados, I already went through those days when I got into American Idol and this Concert took place as soon as Adam Lambert, the ultimate Broadway/Rocker didn't win AI but Kris Allen did. My college friends and I decided to splurge ourselves watching Adam Lambert here at Mandalay Bay Beach back in.... His show opener was 'Orianthi' that year. What I didn't appreciate was that he took a freakin' LONG time to finally start the show....I'm talking about more than 45-min of a wait time for the Super Star to walk On stage.... The following year, we followed him to Ontario's Toyota Arena (a tour w/Allison Iraheta, 4th place winner of his AI Season and I Even watched another show of his in Anaheim.....can't recall the venue there in Anaheim anymore....it was at some type of an OC Fair. Thanks for hosting the 'Adam Lambert' show with 'Orianthi,' @Mandalay Bay Beach (was definitely before the deadly incident). We enjoyed ourselves and his music just not The wait time~ Some of Adam Lambert's hit songs were: 'Whatdaya Want From Me,' 'If I Had you,' 'Fever'.... Again the concert venue was great!!!! Aside from this concert, we went back to visit this hotel for other attractions other trips but this was a memorable event since we went a carful ride us.

One of the larger pool complexes in Vegas. Several pools, wave making machine with fake beach set up, lazy river that goes around grounds, eatery with bar, and I believe even a 21+ topless optional pool. Your card is checked before entry. Free towels are immediately to the left. Inside is a gift shop for anything you may have forgotten including beer. I would eat before coming because the $18 hotdogs and overpriced hamburgers are just not worth it. Maybe even drink first unless you like paying $30 for a pina colada.

The pool area at Mandalay Bay is one of the best in Vegas. There's a wave pool, sand area, lazy river, and regular pools. Note that due to all this, this pool area is a fav amongst families with children. Due to COVID restrictions, I had seen some incredulous YouTube videos of people lining up at 5 AM to get into the pool, people being put on the waiting list and never getting called, etc. But we arrived on a Tuesday (5/4) at 10:45 AM and there wasn't a line at all anywhere. In fact. the whole pool area was on the empty side. But we were driven by fear and the need for shade, so we had booked three lounge chairs and two umbrellas. Lounge chairs are $75 a piece. The umbrellas are $75 a piece. The lounge chairs do not automatically come with an umbrella. Checking in was easy and fast. We didn't need to all show room keys - there's signs saying this is necessary for everyone over 14 yrs old. When you make a reservation, though, the name must match the name of someone with a hotel room reservation, otherwise it will be canceled. TL;DR my two local friends did not need to show room keys. Even with the lounge chairs, you get a cabana host and server. Our host was lovely, bringing us ice buckets with bottles of water multiple times, as well as moving our umbrellas to better block the sun multiple times. Our server was also very friendly and nice. The only thing was that it took a lot of time between ordering the drinks, receiving the drinks, and getting to order again. It wasn't a huge issue for us as it kept us from going overboard with our alcohol consumption. Drinks are expensive. You'll pay $10 for a domestic beer and $15+ for a cocktail. But those are also just common prices in Vegas. All in all, we had a fun and relaxing day chilling poolside in our lounge chairs on the sand in front of the wave pool. Also note that sand gets super hot. We're talking painfully hot. Enclosed shoes will be your friend if you're going to have to walk any amount on the sand.

The Mirage will close in July to begin Hard Rock transformation

The hotel that ushered in the era of the megaresort on the Las Vegas Strip is about to go dark.

The Mirage Hotel & Casino will close July 17 amid a broader plan to redevelop the property into the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas. The new resort is expected to open in 2027. The Hard Rock-branded resort will feature a nearly 700-foot guitar-shaped hotel tower.

"We'd like to thank the Las Vegas community and team members for warmly welcoming Hard Rock after enjoying 34 years at The Mirage," Jim Allen, chairman of Hard Rock International, said in a statement. "We'd also like to thank the Unions, community leaders, local and state government organizations and the Gaming Commission for their support and fair negotiations over the past year. Also, we are grateful to MGM for assisting with our transition."

MGM Resorts International sold The Mirage to Hard Rock International in 2022 , more than 20 years after MGM bought the 77-acre resort from its original owner and developer, Steve Wynn. The Polynesian-themed resort was the world's largest hotel when it opened in 1989 and raised the game for Las Vegas hospitality. The Mirage was known for its entertainment offerings as much as its gaming, as the resort was the longtime home for Siegfried & Roy's magic show with white tigers. Before there were the fountains at the Bellagio, The Mirage attracted passersby with its erupting volcano fountain by the sidewalk on Las Vegas Boulevard.

MGM licensed The Mirage branding to Hard Rock International while a redevelopment plan could be mapped out, but The Mirage name and brand remain under MGM ownership.

"While we pause for the incredible transformation of this iconic property, I'd like to thank all team members at The Mirage for their incredible commitment and helping us provide memorable experiences for our guests," Joe Lupo, president of The Mirage, said in a statement. "We are planning to host collaborative hiring events with other employers in the Las Vegas community over the coming months. Connecting the thousands of talented Mirage team members who provide outstanding service with new employment opportunities is a top priority."

What to do if you have a reservation at The Mirage

The Mirage will continue normal operations through July 14. But if you have a room reservation beyond July 14 that you booked directly with The Mirage, that will automatically be canceled and refunded. If you booked through a third-party provider like Expedia, contact the third-party booking platform for rebooking availability or potential refunds.

Why The Mirage is closing after 34 years

The final day of operations is July 17.

The Las Vegas Strip is losing another iconic hotel property, dimming the lights for the last time at The Mirage later this summer.

Hard Rock International, which acquired The Mirage in 2022, announced it will officially cease operations of the hotel on July 17.

The last day of hotel occupancy will be July 14, the company stated on its website.

Why The Mirage is closing in Las Vegas

The property, which opened in 1989, helped usher in a transformative era, making way for future luxury and megaresorts in the desert destination.

The Mirage was quickly followed by Excalibur, Luxor, and the MGM Grand, all of which opened within the next four years.

This closure will clear the way for HRI to begin construction and transformation into the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas.

"The property will be reimagined and developed into a new integrated resort featuring a nearly 700 ft. guitar-shaped hotel prominently in the center of the famous Las Vegas Strip," the company stated about the new musical instrument-inspired tower that's slated to open in 2027.

"We’d like to thank the Las Vegas community and team members for warmly welcoming Hard Rock after enjoying 34 years at The Mirage," Jim Allen, chairman of HRI, said in a statement Wednesday.

Las Vegas closes iconic properties for new era

This marks the second hotel and casino closure on the Strip after The Tropicana Las Vegas shuttered in April, just shy of its 67th anniversary.

The closure of the old-school Sin City landmark was set to make way for a potential $1.5 billion Major League Baseball stadium deal with Oakland A's owner John Fisher, a move that has been criticized by sports experts and fans.
