Although they offer some short breaks, Alfa Travel tends to concentrate on holidays of at least 4 nights duration. Most of their UK holidays are 4, 6 or 7 nights long. Their overseas holidays, which include a wide range of destinations in Ireland and the near Continent, vary from 4 to 11 nights.

All of the vehicles in their fleet are manufactured and maintained by Mercedes Benz to ensure the best possible standard of comfort and reliability. A great experience

A wonderful short holiday. Great hotel, staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Clean rooms and public areas. Good choice in menus. Food well-cooked, hot and quickly served. Lovely resort (Exmouth) and really enjoyed the river and harbour cruises. Great value for money. First holiday with Alfa and would do another one.

Enjoyable trip

Enjoyable 5 day trip with Alfa. No problems at all. Seamless transfers, very impressed by the coach and luggage transfers. We had a contracted in coach which could have been a lot more comfortable but driver was lovely and kind. Hotel was OK, scenery and place itself was wonderful. Will definitely be booking another trip away. First time as a solo traveller with Alfa and would recommend

Pick up and journey good

Pick up and journey good, but hotel covered in scaffolding very disheartening. The room was quite good but a pipe went from floor to ceiling constantly red hot. We asked reception who said they would look into it, next day still nothing, went back to reception and was curtly told ‘we told you yesterday we would look into it’ nothing was done at all. We did not go on 1st trip and the driver Chris told everyone then that the Thursday trip time had changed to half an hour earlier but failed o tell us even though we sat with him in the dining room, consequently we missed the steam train trip.

Viv and Peter go to Wales

Alfa go out of their way to ensue that we all have the best time we can whilst in their care. From when the feeder coach picked us up we didn't have to carry our cases until they dropped us off back home. Andrew, our driver, was careful whilst driving, considerate to all our needs and always smiling. It was a lovely holiday in Porthcawl.

Brilliant tour

We enjoyed our holiday with you the only complaint we have is when we picked up the tour guide for Cambridge she took us to a garden centre first why?. The hotel was lovely the food very nice and to have a tour guide for both Oxford and Cambridge was brilliant to learn all about their history and traditions.

Tenby - wonderful place and hotel…

Just been on a five day trip to Tenby from Tamworth. The tour very smooth, as we had 18 people getting on various tours we had a coach that picked us up from Wolves and took us directly to Tamworth. Paul drove us down which was nice as I had met him as the Robinson coaches to Shanklin 4 previous times. The weather on the whole was fine, Cliffe Norton was a great hotel and Jan the manager was very much hands on manager and the staff operated as a good team. Our room had a great Seaview. 5 days was not long enough but was a good taster and next time we will do a week. We had a great driver, Shaun from Minsterley motors. Alfa travel are you able to pass on to Misterley motors a thank you to Shaun as it was the first time in our 5 times we have gone with you that we had a contacted out driver and coach. Looking forward to Bouremouth and Blackpool later in the year.

Fantastic value for money holiday

Fantastic holiday. Transition from feeder coach was smooth. Staff at Bayshore hotel were excellent. Food very tasty. Rooms clean and beds comfortable.

New Beach Hotel

New Beach Hotel, Great Yarmouth Great Yarmouth & Broads Cruise Saturday, June, 01st 2024 - Wednesday, June, 05th 2024 We had a fantastic five days at the New Beach Hotel, Great Yarmouth the weather was mixed sunshine & showers. We departed Bowburn at 10:15am and arrived at the hotel at 05:30pm. Our Coach was a Delta Coach, our driver was called Michael, he was very helpful and friendly. we were in safe hands when he was driving. Thank you Michael for making the holiday a success. There was 48 passengers on the coach. The company on the coach were fantastic, made Friends quickly. The management at the hotel made you welcome, they were very friendly, the rooms were very clean. The waiters and the waitresses were helpful, the meals were good. Jordan was was helpful behind the bar. The entertainment was good, also the bingo it put the evening in. The trips out were Paddle Steamer & Cromer, Norwich. The Paddle Steamer was very good, We liked it very much Overall It was a fantastic holiday, the weather was kind to us, warm and sunny, had a great time. Thank you Alfa.

The Cumbria Grand Hotel was very good

The Cumbria Grand Hotel was very good. The en-suite was needing the chipped bath removing and a shower unit installing. Breakfast and dinner were very good. The tours were very good. It's a pity from Cleveleys we have to go south to Burtonwood then north to Cumbria and Scotland

Overall great experience

The driver, Josh, was very good. He was very helpful and informative, explaining everything we needed to know. The staff at the Cumberland hotel were also excellent. When we had a health crisis they were most helpful

Really enjoyable holiday

From start to finish we were looked…

From start to finish we were looked after. The bus was so comfortable and looked after and our driver Robert was so nice and friendly. The hotel we stayed in was so nice and welcoming and the meals were delicious and hot and fresh. Will definitely be using this company again x

Sandown Isle of wight

Nice bus driver in Mark. Picked up before time. Hotel was good,clean and food was lovely. Only downside that room 113 had a very small cube of a shower 🚿 so doors didn't open very far. Good job my husband and I didn't have mobility issues or were bigger people

Well recommend

The coach was comfortable and had usb ports, the driver was brilliant and the hotel was very accommodating - especially with people with food allergies. They were very understanding and helpful in this respect and bought in a cereal for a person with a specific wheat allergy because they didn’t have one. Nothing was too much trouble for them and there was entertainment every night. The rooms were clean and tidy and the trips out well worth it. I especially liked the one free day to do whatever you wanted. I’m planning my next holiday with them.

Great hotel, interchange transfer too long

Lovely hotel, good room, nice meals and service. Little disappointed that room wasn’t ready so took to Whitby on way there. On way back took to shopping centre in York but then arrived at Bowburn interchange at 3.40pm and had to wait for connecting bus, got to Durham 2hr 20 later at 6pm, just not well thought out and too long travelling as set off from Bridlington at 9.30am. Also cases were left outside in heavy rain at interchange and clothes were soaked through when got home. Just really took the edge off an otherwise lovely trip.

Bognor experience Royal Norfolk

Wasn't great but very good, the room was always kept clean, didn't have towel radiator or way of drying so put them for Change every day ! Mattress sagging on edge could at times feel you where sliding off edge, nice big car park. Could you define whether car customers ! If there room can go on coach outings, pay of,course.

2 days of travel

When you use the feeder coach to the changeover hub you spend two days of a five day holiday travelling. On our changeover we were waiting for over one & half hours which made it a very long day of travel. It is best if you can be picked up somewhere on the way to your destination.

Alfa Holidays Hotels (Leisureplex)

Alfa Travel sister company Leisureplex owns and operates over twenty hotels around the UK, many in popular British seaside locations like Blackpool and Scarborough. All the bedrooms feature the same high standard of facilities including extras like hairdryers, tea/coffee making facilities, colour TVs and more. 

If you are staying at a Leisureplex hotel and are on an Alfa Travel coach holiday then you will receive breakfast and 3 course dinner and on some dates lunch is also included. There is a choice of meals and also a selection of vegetarian/vegan options. 

There is generally entertainment provided in the hotels at least four evenings a week. If you just want a quiet evening the hotels are usually large enough to offer both so you can pick and choose. Just check before you book to make sure the hotel you have chosen is suitable for your holiday requirements. Despite the fact that many of the guests tend to be over 40 the hotels still offer child reductions for families looking for a traditional family seaside holiday.

You have a choice of accommodation from 24 Leisureplex hotels around the UK. A choice of durations to suit your travel plans, rooms are en-suite and you get a full British breakfast and a three course evening meal . We asked reception who said they would look into it, next day still nothing, went back to reception and was curtly told ‘we told you yesterday we would look into it’ nothing was done at all. We did not go on 1st trip and the driver Chris told everyone then that the Thursday trip time had changed to half an hour earlier but failed o tell us even though we sat with him in the dining room, consequently we missed the steam train trip.

Viv and Peter go to Wales

Alfa go out of their way to ensue that we all have the best time we can whilst in their care. From when the feeder coach picked us up we didn't have to carry our cases until they dropped us off back home. Andrew, our driver, was careful whilst driving, considerate to all our needs and always smiling. It was a lovely holiday in Porthcawl.

Brilliant tour

We enjoyed our holiday with you the only complaint we have is when we picked up the tour guide for Cambridge she took us to a garden centre first why?. The hotel was lovely the food very nice and to have a tour guide for both Oxford and Cambridge was brilliant to learn all about their history and traditions.

Tenby - wonderful place and hotel…

Just been on a five day trip to Tenby from Tamworth. The tour very smooth, as we had 18 people getting on various tours we had a coach that picked us up from Wolves and took us directly to Tamworth. Paul drove us down which was nice as I had met him as the Robinson coaches to Shanklin 4 previous times. The weather on the whole was fine, Cliffe Norton was a great hotel and Jan the manager was very much hands on manager and the staff operated as a good team. Our room had a great Seaview. 5 days was not long enough but was a good taster and next time we will do a week. We had a great driver, Shaun from Minsterley motors. Alfa travel are you able to pass on to Misterley motors a thank you to Shaun as it was the first time in our 5 times we have gone with you that we had a contacted out driver and coach. Looking forward to Bouremouth and Blackpool later in the year.

New Beach Hotel

New Beach Hotel, Great Yarmouth Great Yarmouth & Broads Cruise Saturday, June, 01st 2024 - Wednesday, June, 05th 2024 We had a fantastic five days at the New Beach Hotel, Great Yarmouth the weather was mixed sunshine & showers. We departed Bowburn at 10:15am and arrived at the hotel at 05:30pm. Our Coach was a Delta Coach, our driver was called Michael, he was very helpful and friendly. we were in safe hands when he was driving. Thank you Michael for making the holiday a success. There was 48 passengers on the coach. The company on the coach were fantastic, made Friends quickly. The management at the hotel made you welcome, they were very friendly, the rooms were very clean. The waiters and the waitresses were helpful, the meals were good. Jordan was was helpful behind the bar. The entertainment was good, also the bingo it put the evening in. The trips out were Paddle Steamer & Cromer, Norwich. The Paddle Steamer was very good, We liked it very much Overall It was a fantastic holiday, the weather was kind to us, warm and sunny, had a great time. Thank you Alfa.

The Cumbria Grand Hotel was very good

The Cumbria Grand Hotel was very good. The en-suite was needing the chipped bath removing and a shower unit installing. Breakfast and dinner were very good. The tours were very good. It's a pity from Cleveleys we have to go south to Burtonwood then north to Cumbria and Scotland

Sandown Isle of wight

Nice bus driver in Mark. Picked up before time. Hotel was good,clean and food was lovely. Only downside that room 113 had a very small cube of a shower 🚿 so doors didn't open very far. Good job my husband and I didn't have mobility issues or were bigger people

Well recommend

The coach was comfortable and had usb ports, the driver was brilliant and the hotel was very accommodating - especially with people with food allergies. They were very understanding and helpful in this respect and bought in a cereal for a person with a specific wheat allergy because they didn’t have one. Nothing was too much trouble for them and there was entertainment every night. The rooms were clean and tidy and the trips out well worth it. I especially liked the one free day to do whatever you wanted. I’m planning my next holiday with them.

Great hotel, interchange transfer too long

Lovely hotel, good room, nice meals and service. Little disappointed that room wasn’t ready so took to Whitby on way there. On way back took to shopping centre in York but then arrived at Bowburn interchange at 3.40pm and had to wait for connecting bus, got to Durham 2hr 20 later at 6pm, just not well thought out and too long travelling as set off from Bridlington at 9.30am. Also cases were left outside in heavy rain at interchange and clothes were soaked through when got home. Just really took the edge off an otherwise lovely trip.

Bognor experience Royal Norfolk

Wasn't great but very good, the room was always kept clean, didn't have towel radiator or way of drying so put them for Change every day ! Mattress sagging on edge could at times feel you where sliding off edge, nice big car park. Could you define whether car customers ! If there room can go on coach outings, pay of,course.

2 days of travel

When you use the feeder coach to the changeover hub you spend two days of a five day holiday travelling. On our changeover we were waiting for over one & half hours which made it a very long day of travel. It is best if you can be picked up somewhere on the way to your destination.

Alpha travel insurance started back in 2006 as a range of backpacker products on the sister site Holidaysafe. In 2012 Alpha travel insurance launched their own website and started offering insurance separately.

Alpha’s aim is to provide innovative and cost effective travel insurance for everyone They don’t believe people should lose out on cover in return for a lower premium. Alpha put customer service first, which is why all of their services are provided in-house.

Who underwrites Alpha's policies?

Alpha travel insurance is underwritten by tifgroup (formally Travel Insurance Facilities Group), and insured by Union Reiseversicherung AG (URV).

Alpha travel insurance offer four types of policy options, as well as some optional extras. Below we have listed some of the top features of each.

• Single Trip
• Wintersports

Alpha Single Trip travel insurance is cover for one-off trips, and can cater for individuals, couples, families and groups.

The Alpha Longstay travel insurance policy was designed with travellers in mind, catering for gap years, backpacking, volunteering and working abroad.

• Cover for up to 24 months
• Two return home trips for up to 21 days each

• Wide range of sports and activities covered
• Option for wintersports cover

Alpha’s Wintersports travel insurance is designed for all winter-sports holidays, whether you’re skiing, snowboarding, a beginner or a pro.

• Cover for skiing, snowboarding and 100’s of activities
• Protection for winter sports equipment
• Off-piste options available
• Cover for avalanches, air ambulance and mountain rescue

Alpha Travel Insurance have a number of optional extras that you can add-on to your policies. These can be added-on during the check-out, or you can call at a later date if your plans change.

Some of the optional extras are:

• Financial failure and force majeure
• Stop over extension

What’s covered under my policy?

With Alpha Travel Insurance, you are covered for the same things no matter which cover level you decide to go with. The only difference between the cover levels is how much excess you decide to pay. Below are some of what’s covered under Alpha’s single trip policy:

• If you are unable to go on the trip
• Departure is delayed by 12 hours or more
• Chose to cancel after 24hr delay
• Missed outbound or homeward departure
• Need emergency medical attention
• Public hospital inconvenience benefit
• Emergency dental treatment
• If you have to come home early
• Possessions lost, stolen or damaged
• Clothes and footwear
• Cosmetics/toiletries
• Electrical items
• Jewellery and watches
• Possessions delayed by 12 hours or more
• If cash is lost or stolen
• Passport lost or stolen
• Personal liability
• Accidental death
• Permanent loss of sight or use of limb
• Permanent total disablement
• If you need legal advice

An excess is the amount of money you contribute to each claim you make before Alpha travel insurance will pay out.

The amount of your excess you have to pay will depend on which policy level you have decided to go with. Make sure to check your policy schedule where your excess details will be shown in detail.

To make a claim on you Alpha travel insurance, you will have to fill in a claims form. This can be found on the website, but you can also contact Alpha Travel Insurance by phone, email and by post.

For most claims, call: +44(0) 203 824 0705, and press 3 to speak to Travel Claims Facilities.

Once Alpha have received your claims form, the claims team aim to have you claim completed within 10-15 working days.

£1,500 - personal possessions.

If you’re anything like us, then you buy a whole new wardrobe every time you go on holiday, plus all the essentials like straighteners, chargers, cosmetics, those fancy sunnies you bought in duty free last yer, the list goes on. This is why all of our Alpha policies come with £1,500 Personal Possessions cover, in case they get lost, stolen or damaged on your trip. £1,250 - Cancellation

Holidays can be pretty pricey at times, so if you have to cancel for reasons outside of your control, like a medical emergency, you’ll need to have the correct cancellation cover in place. Alpha understand this, and we don’t want you to be less a holiday AND your hard-earned and saved up cash; this is why we have £1,250 cancellation cover per insured person in our policies.
