928 Tour Series Irons
- Add to quote
They're a Tommy Armour 845s clone.
Thanks so much. I paid $2 per club at a golf course pro shop in disrepair and managed to find a complete set 3-PW scattered around the shop. True Temper TT Lite shafts and in very good condition. They hit very well!
I would GUESS that they are just a set of clubs made "generically" . Found lots of references/pics to "tour series limited edition" clubs that look similar (identical?) to yours.
a seller on ebay is calling them Ping. I think not. Can't wait to hit them.
Ya, the "sound" they might make when hit 😉. No logo = generic.
It turns out these are ladies club length. I'll have to get my wife playing again.

Mizuno JPX923 Tour Irons Review
- on February 21, 2023
50 Words or Less
The Mizuno JPX923 Tour irons give you everything you love about a blade without all the punishment on mishits. Sensational feel. Beautiful looks. Tremendous shot control.
Introduction
For several years, the JPX Tour model has been Mizuno’s most-played iron on Tour. There is no reason to expect that will stop with the new JPX923 Tour. The latest version has been slimmed down across the top line and made more compact in the mid and scoring irons. But how much forgiveness can be packed into an iron this slim? I tested a set to find out.
When I posted the arrival pictures of the Mizuno JPX923 Tour irons on social media, I got a torrent of NSFW replies from our followers. I can’t say that I blame them. These are unquestionably some of the sexiest irons out there, and, in my opinion, the best looking set in Mizuno’s current line .
My favorite thing about them is the White-Satin Brush finish . It kills the glare without being too dull. Mizuno also did a great job with the cavity design. I think it’s a significant upgrade over the JPX921 Tour [review HERE ] – both more interesting and more understated.
The upgrades continue into the address position where the JPX923 Tour has a thinner top line . This puts it within roughly 0.5mm of the Mizuno Pro 221 [review HERE ]. To round out the comparison, the Tour is about 2mm larger in blade length and sole width with three hundredths of an inch more offset. But all that is deep in the weeds. The big picture is that the JPX923 Tour is a slim, beautiful players iron.
Sound & Feel
If we were to play the old Sesame Street game, “One of These Things Is Not Like the Others” with the JPX923 irons, the Tour version is the one that stands alone. There are numerous reasons, but perhaps the biggest is the material. The JPX923 Tour is forged from 1025E Pure Select mild carbon steel where the other models in this line are made of Nickel Chromoly*. Another thing that makes the Tour model unique is the microlayer of copper below the chrome finish.
*To be precise, the 8-PW in the JPX923 Forged are also made of 1025E [review HERE ].
What this combination creates is an impact feel that is incredibly smooth . It is soft, but I like smooth better for the way the ball gently contacts and departs the club face. The JPX923 Tour is also extremely quiet . Even in an indoor setting, the low “thud” is barely audible.
As you would expect, these irons provide players with precise feedback . Mishits get a little louder, turning to more of a “click.” Your hands will tell you precisely what type of miss it was.
Performance
The first thing to note about the Mizuno JPX923 Tour irons is that they have one of the most traditional iron structures you’ll find. That helps them to produce high launch angles and above average spin for soaring trajectories . You can certainly flight the ball down, but the default shot is towering. The higher spin allows skilled players (“Pro to Elite Amateurs” per Mizuno) to shape their shots as much as they want.
When it comes to ball speed and distance , the JPX923 Tour is a small step down from the Forged and Hot Metal models . This is a product of both the lofts and the construction, and it’s also a feature, not a bug. The player who is gaming these irons knows there are longer clubs, but they are opting for control and consistency.
Next, let’s discuss forgiveness . If we’re comparing the Tour to the Forged and Hot Metal irons, it’s definitely the most demanding. However, I don’t think that’s the right comparison. The target player is highly skilled, so we should compare the JPX923 Tour to a blade . In that race, the JPX923 Tour comes out substantially ahead both at retaining ball speed and preserving launch angle.
Finally, I want to continue to praise Mizuno for the way that they make combo sets accessible. On Mizuno’s website (link below), they have a combo set builder that allows you to blend sets at different points. For the JPX923 Tour, they offer twelve options that let you play the beautiful Tours in the shorter irons with more forgiving sets in the long irons. This includes loft adjustments to smooth the distance gaps.
It’s easy to see why the Mizuno JPX923 Tour is the choice of so many high level golfers. They’re getting everything they want from a blade: looks, feel, and shot control. In addition, they’re getting a higher level of forgiveness and consistency. Whether you make your living with your clubs or not, that’s a combination that’s hard to pass up.

“Nothing feels like a Mizuno” tagline.?
I’m not sure what the question is.
I am sorry for the confusion. I was wondering in terms of feel, if these earned the tagline “Nothing feels like a Mizuno”?
Yes, I think they feel great.
Hi Matt Just bought these beauties but I made them 2 degrees strong and now I’m wondering if tampering with these irons are a great idea Any opinions Thanks Steve
What caused you to bend them strong? What are they doing that’s making you unhappy?
I ordered a set of 923 clubs but never got them what’s up with that
Have you contacted the retailer you ordered them through?
You sometimes have to have a ton of patience. Wow.
How do these compare with the 223?
I have a full review of the Pro 223 irons here: https://pluggedingolf.com/mizuno-pro-223-irons-review/
How do they compare visually to T100? Thanks!
I have a full review of the T100 irons here: https://pluggedingolf.com/2021-titleist-t100-t100s-irons-review/
Just read your 223 review as well. They both seem like great options. I’ve hit both (only a few times) and only saw a slight difference in forgiveness between them.
Based on your experience with both clubs. How much less forgiving do you think the Tour is vs the 223?
I just love the look of the Tour so trying to decide if dealing with a slightly more demanding iron is worth it.
I haven’t hit them head to head, but my guess is that the difference is easily measurable, potentially noticeable on course. That said, it sounds like you want the Tour, and my general rule is to buy what you want because golf is supposed to be fun.
I have the same question and concern as Eric, wondering between the 923 or the JPX 923 Tour. Currently play 919 Tour and like them, except on some hits the sound is dull and dead. Which model would be more forgiving, but still give the great Mizuno feel?
Just got my 923 Tour set. First 3 strikes with 7 iron 172 yards dead straight, not six feet apart!!! can’t wait for my first round
I once saw these clubs online….which is about how I feel regarding this comment section. My question is simple, I don’t have a question.
Hi Matt, Currently playing Apex TCB. I bumped up the loft 2 degrees. Perfect for me. How do you think the Mizuno JPX 923 Tour would compare to the TCB? I know you did a review of the TCB….
Many thanks!
They’re very similar types of clubs. I don’t think you’ll see a dramatic difference between the two.
And, of course, the next question…I see you have the PXG 0317 T in your bag…congrats!!! I am really curious if you like them better than your trusty Blueprints? And then, the next question…how do all of these clubs compare to the 923 tours?
I was thinking that maybe 1. you just wanted a change, 2. maybe they perform better, 3. You’re not completely sure so you’re going to give them a whirl on real golf courses for a bit, 4. You are a human and like some new stuff :)
Sentimentally, nothing will replace my Blueprints, but the results from the PXG 0317 Ts are better, full stop. The JPX923 Tour is a very fine iron, too, but it doesn’t have the same level of forgiveness as the 0317 T.
Can you compare the feel and forgiveness of these with that of the Miura CB-302? Thanks
I have a full review of the CB-302 here: https://pluggedingolf.com/miura-cb-302-irons-review/
I have the Miura CB-302s and like them but am considering the 923 Tours simply because they seem to be a little smaller and more sleek design. The Miura’s are pretty big with a decent amount of offset and size. I am wondering how they compare from a forgiveness perspective? Thanks
I don’t think there is a significant forgiveness gap between those two.
How these compare to PXG 0327t/cb in terms of feel/performance ? Thanks
There are reviews of both of those irons on the site:
https://pluggedingolf.com/pxg-0317-t-irons-review/
https://pluggedingolf.com/pxg-0317-cb-irons-review/
Speaking as a person whose been playing Mizunos for 30 years and roughly 8 iterations, when you talk about “Mizuno feel,” and you know what that means as a purist whose been playing them since the MP-teens, then any of the JPX line do not feel like the MP line (now Mizuno Pro). So the JPX-921 is not as buttery traditional Mizuno as the MP-20s (I have both) and the JPX-923 are not as buttery as the Mizuno Pros. That said the JPX line is better on mishits and you can power them with the modern torque-y golf swing, whereas the MP or Pro line is a more traditional smooth swinging club for the purist. The JPX’s are more in line with a Srixon-type club than a traditional MP/Pro. I’ve used both extensively. When you swing hard get the JPX. If you want to baby it out there and you hit the center of the club face, and you’re all into that Mizuno feel, get the MP/Pro. (for reference I am a senior golfer but still swing X-stiff and am 0 hdcp).

This players’ cavity back iron certainly feels like a blade but has a little more margin for error. Distances from shots struck on or very close to the sweet spot were incredibly consistent, but only very competent players should realistically consider choosing these irons.
Compact, premium looks
Consistent carries on well-struck shots
Soft metal gathers dinks quite easily
Limited forgiveness

The JPX923 Tour will be one of Mizuno’s most popular irons on professional circuits because of the feel, feedback and workability it offers. For competent golfers that want a smidge more help versus what’s on offer in the bladed Mizuno Pro 221, this compact shallow cavity iron fits the bill perfectly.
VIDEO: See how the JPX923 Tour compares against the best irons for low handicappers
This latest iteration adds a copper underlay beneath the white satin brushed finish for a softer feel. Visually this iron ticks all the right boxes although it does accumulate small dinks easily, which means a set of iron head covers could be in order.
At address the Mizuno JPX923 Tour presents a thinner top line than its predecessor, certainly appealing to the low handicap golfer, while the irons from 6-iron to GW have a narrower blade length. Versus the best golf blades , the sizing is quite generous, but it remains compact to the point that you know you need to be a talented ball striker to get the most out of them.
Where this iron excels is in the feel department. It produces a noticeably dense, compressed feel helped by the muted, short sound at impact. It doesn’t feel as springy as the Mizuno JPX923 Forged , nor is it as stable off-centre but it seems to have a larger sweet spot than the Mizuno Pro 221 . It’s brisk through the turf too thanks to the more rounded trailing edge at the back of the narrow sole.
The 7-iron in this set is very traditional with a loft of 34°, which means you need to have speed in the tank for it to perform. Our average carry was 160 yards and when we hit the ball solidly, it barely deviated from that but when we made a bad swing, it often dropped off by more than a handful of yards. I loved the mid-flight and abundance of spin (just under 6,000 rpm) which produced a piercing trajectory where the ball climbs gradually and then comes down sharply. With a descent angle close to 50°, you’ll have no issues in getting the ball to stop near to where it lands.
Mizuno’s goal was to create an iron that looks and feels like a blade but plays more like a players’ cavity back and it certainly delivers on this brief. When swinging well and in a groove, this iron is able to repeat the same shot time after time, but it also affords creativity on the course if you’re looking to working the ball into pins that are tucked away.
You could argue that the level of forgiveness is an issue, but compared to the Pro 221 more help is at hand. There’s a big gap in lofts between this iron and the excellent JPX923 Forged, which means a combo set may be hard to create. But through the set, better players should get enough performance out of the JPX923 Tour to justify a full set if properly fitted, because of the level of playability on offer versus bladed irons.

TaylorMade Spider Tour Series putters: What you need to know
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: The Spider Tour mallets revolutionized TaylorMade’s position in the marketplace with near equal top-level success on tour and at retail, but while the company explored other versions and shapes the last two years, the use and demand stayed with the original now-iconic shapes like Spider Tour and Spider Tour X. So rather than try to discover a new Spider, the company is launching a new Spider Tour Series with five options all built on the original platforms, including shapes made popular by Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Jason Day and most recently Scottie Scheffler. The models employ the same wireframe construction, a variety of sole weighting to emphasize different centers of gravity to match different stroke types, and the distinct wide white aiming stripe, as well as the grooved Surlyn face insert.
PRICE: $350 (Spider Tour, Spider Tour X, Spider Tour Z, Spider Tour S), available for pre-order now, at retail on Oct. 27 (except Spider Tour S, which is scheduled to be at retail in the spring of 2024).
TaylorMade returns to the core shape of its Spider from five years ago, one of the most successful versions of the mallet brand that has become an icon. What’s intriguing is from that base model, the company is launching a collection of five versions that share the same concepts of high stability with clear alignment and a face with grooves to enhance initial roll. Helped by research in recent years that shows how different players respond to center-of-gravity depth, each model pushes weight selectively back or forward.
3 COOL THINGS
1. A restoration, rebirth, reinvigoration of an original: The Spider family of putters easily has been the most popular mallet design in TaylorMade’s history, and leading its success on the professional tours and in the marketplace has been the Spider Tour family. Spider putters have reportedly been a business all on its own worth more than $250 million with more than 1.5 million units sold. And while the company spent the last few years trying to reinvent the iconic mallet, this reintroduction or rebirth of the original has all the markings of a Gil Hanse renovation of a Donald Ross golf course. The reasoning is simple, said Brian Bazzell, TaylorMade’s vice president of product creation. Mallets, and in particular the way the Spider Tour models have been able to accommodate and improve different tour players strokes, are just better.
“The reality is mallets provide a performance element that blades simply can’t—we’ve actually proven this out on tour,” he said, noting that Rory McIlroy improves by 1.5 strokes per tournament with his Spider Tour X compared to a blade, while Dustin Johnson and his Spider Tour is better from six feet and in than he is with a blade. “There are some incredibly popular models that we’ve had over time, and there’s this built-up demand for us to sort of come back and re-birth some of these incredible shapes. And we’re not going to just do that. We’re going to also come with a few others that are going to fit a few more golfers. Spider is synonymous with stability. That means when you hit that putt off-center we maintain that ball speed so it doesn’t act like a mis-hit.”
2. How to make mallets for all strokes: The range of elite players using Spider Tour over the years runs from Jason Day to Sergio Garcia, and from Dustin Johnson to Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler. Not one of those strokes are similar, and that’s why this reborn Spider Tour line includes five models. The group includes an original Spider Tour with its rear “jet engine” like heel and toe weights for increased moment of inertia (stability on off-center hits). There’s also the Spider Tour X, where those weights are featured in a more compact wing-less shape. The intent is to shift the weight a little more forward while maintaining high stability. A couple of new models will come to the line this fall. Those include the Spider Tour Z, which maintains the sleeker shape of the Spider Tour X but moves the heel and toe weights well forward in the sole; and the Spider Tour V, the most compact of the models which eliminates the wing structure completely while also keeping those heel and toe weights well forward in the sole.
Finally, a heavier, larger Spider Tour S will come along in the spring, using a 38-inch shaft to achieve a stroke stabilizing counterbalanced weighting (where there’s heavier weight in both the head and grip ends).
Altogether the distance the center of gravity is from the face changes from 38 millimeters back on Spider Tour S to 27 millimeters back on the Spider Tour V. That difference in CG depth is meant to accommodate how much easier the face can rotate back to square in the stroke (farther back accommodates a more straight-back, straight through stroke, for example). It also is one reason that the models feature a fairly wide range of moment of inertia, from 4900 grams-centimeters squared on the V to over 6,000 on the S, although each of those is significantly higher than a traditional blade style design.
3. A consistent feel, borrowed from iron designs: Each of the Spider Tour putters will benefit from an undercut chamber in the sole behind the face that is filled with a corrugated structure made of Hybrar, a vibration damping thermoplastic rubber that’s been used on irons like the M5 and Stealth to enhance feel. Also familiar is the company’s Surlyn face insert, which features angled grooves to improve initial roll. As well, the Spider Tour’s familiar wide width aim and alignment design, called True Path, is part of the line throughout, adding a distinct contrast to the gunmetal finish.

Just as it sounds, These discs are brand new from the Manufacture. The only blemishes in these beauties may be scuffs from storage wear or handing.
Anything listed as mint is exactly that! Crisp mint condition discs never thrown or Inked. Place them on the wall or break them in! May show signs some light storage wear or handling.
Near Mint (abbreviated NM)
Discs in excellent condition, where a few throws might have left their mark or none at all. You might notice subtle signs of wear due to storage and handling – a testament to their authenticity. Yet fear not, for these discs proudly maintain their original flight attributes.
Lightly Played (abbreviated LP)
These discs that have seen some play. Light scuffing, scratches, or very minor dings may be present. Discs will have original stability and flight characteristics.
Moderately Played (abbreviated MP)
Trusty throwers that have seen some love and show signs of wear. You can expect some scuffing, scratches, and dings on these discs. Due to their usage, there may be slight variations in their flight path and stability compared to new It's important to note that this is the most common grade for our pre-owned discs!
Heavily Played (abbreviated HP)
These discs have seen a lot of action and have been well-loved. You can expect major scuffing, scratches, dings, and might also have some minor warping of the plastic. They will have a different stability and flight characteristics compared to new. However, despite their wear, these discs are still playable and have some life left to offer!

After a 26-25 loss to the Chiefs, the Bengals have a bigger issue than their 0-2 record. They're a Tommy Armour 845s clone. Thanks so much. I paid $2 per club at a golf course pro shop in disrepair and managed to find a complete set 3-PW scattered around the shop. True Temper TT Lite shafts and in very good condition.
When it comes to ball speed and distance, the JPX923 Tour is a small step down from the Forged and Hot Metal models. This is a product of both the lofts and the construction, and it's also a feature, not a bug. The player who is gaming these irons knows there are longer clubs, but they are opting for control and consistency.

Consistently Mizuno's most-played iron model in professional golf and still one-piece Grain Flow Forged in Hiroshima Japan, the JPX923 Tour adds a copper underlay for an even smoother sensation at impact. The JPX923 Tour also presents a narrower top line and sole in tandem with more rounded trailing edge for ...
