Scottish Rally 2024 Calendar Confirmed
Following on from a very successful and well received 2023 KNC Groundworks Scottish Rally Championship, the SRC organising team are pleased to confirm a tried & tested, but slightly slimmed down calendar for 2024.
With the Carlisle Stages sitting out 2024 whilst the organising team focus on a new event (which forms the reserve event as listed above), we have taken the opportunity to reduce the series to 7 rounds, with the best 5 scores to count.
At the end of this year’s Championship, the SRC team commissioned an end of season survey to get feedback from both competitors & officials on what was good about the 2023 championship, and what could be improved.
As ever, it’s difficult to put a calendar together that suits everyone, but we believe what we have landed on will once again provide some of the closest competition in the UK over 7 well organised events, with events evenly spaced- out allowing competitors to plan a realistic season.
The backing of strong sponsors, partners and supporters is vital to putting a championship together, and we are grateful that we have had such fantastic support once again in 2023.
In particular, a huge thanks to our title sponsor KNC Groundworks, Championship Partners Albyn Garage and Moates Offshore, our Media partner Royal Aero, Tyre Partner Pirelli & Fuel partner Gulf Race Fuel We must also take this opportunity to thank Kevin Crawford & his team at KNC Groundworks for their enthusiastic support over the 4 years since stepping up to the role in 2019.
Subject to approval from Motorsport UK, the Events calendar for the 2024 Scottish Rally Championship will be as follows:
1. AM Phillip Trucktech Snowman Rally Inverness – 2nd March
2. The McDonald and Munro Speyside Stages Elgin – 19th & 20th April
3. Beatson’s Building Supplies Jim Clark Reivers Rally Duns – 26th May
4. Dunoon Presents Argyll Rally Dunoon – 21st & 22nd June
5. RSAC Scottish Rally Dumfriesshire – 20th July
6. Voyonic Grampian Forest Rally Banchory – 9th & 10th August
7. Armstrong Galloway Hills Rally Castle Douglas – 14th September

Islands & Highlands Rally of Scotland
Already in the planning for spring 2023, this very special rally will start on the west coast of Scotland, near Glasgow, and tour the islands of Arran and Bute, plus the Mull of Kintyre, before taking in Islay, Mull and Skye. We then head to the Outer Hebrides, ticking off another eight islands before returning to the western Highlands, driving the finest NW corner then taking the ferry to Orkney and on to Shetland, returning to Aberdeen for the finish. We aim to include up to 21 islands, which are well served by regular ferries.May often brings delightful, warm and peaceful weather to this achingly beautiful and rarely-visited part of the British Isles. While priority will be given to Jaguar XKs and E-types, other classics that complement the Jaguars will be welcome to join, though total numbers will be limited to 20 due to the small scale of the hotels – which will, as always, be the finest available. The rally follows our unique and much-loved formula of touring combined with an element of competition that is addictive and huge fun. No special equipment or past experience is needed and a warm welcome is guaranteed from the islanders, who rarely see classic cars.

The RSAC Scottish Rally is the biggest event that the club organises. It is one of the longest running events in the Scottish rallying calendar and in 2024 will be held for the 78th time.
Sponsored by Dumfries & Galloway Council, it is a round of the KNC Groundworks Scottish Rally Championship. Announcements on the 2024 event will be made via our social media channels early in the new year.
You can find the event website HERE .
The RSAC Three Lochs Classic is a Touring Assembly event primarily for historic vehicles manufactured before 1982.
And yes, it does pass three lochs!
The RSAC Spring Run is our newest event, launched in 2019. This is also a Touring Assembly event but with a shorter route than the Three Lochs Classic.
More information and Regulations are available on the event website.
The Junior 1000 Ecosse Challenge is not specifically a club event. RSAC Motorsport however are the permit holders for the Championship. The J1000 Ecosse Challenge is aimed at 14-17 year olds and is designed to introduce them to rallying in a safe and controlled manner. Many J1000 alumni have gone on to drive in the British Rally Championship, the Scottish Rally Championship and the Scottish Tarmack Rally Championship.
You can find out more about the J1000 HERE .

Cars in the club range from the very early Chummys to the late Jewels and Big Sevens, along with such rarities as A.E.W., Boyd Carpenter, Arrow and Swallow. No matter what Seven you have you are assured a warm welcome in the club.

Borders Vintage Automobile Club
The Borders Vintage Automobile Club started life in 1972 with just a handful of members. Today, our membership stands at around the 200 mark and now that our annual rally appears to be successfully established at the magnificent Thirlestane Castle, by Lauder, we see our Club well-placed for a lasting and prosperous future.

Ayrshire Classic Car Club
We have a varied program of away-day activities, which are predominantly focused on visiting the many Scottish car shows. We also go on runs (the car variety) now set for the last Tuesday of the month when sometimes the weather is in our favour and if it is not, then we drive our everyday cars. The aim is to have a pleasant time, a chinwag and perhaps a visit to an attraction. Of course we also have purely social events such as annual dinners, BBQs, quiz and so forth but the committee is always open to new ideas.
The Pre'67 Ford Owners Club
Regular meetings are held in Edinburgh and Glasgow and classic car shows are attended throughout the season spreading the Henry message. There are regular social events, workshop evenings and a spares and technical advice service for members. In keeping with Ford tradition the club has a range of regalia available in any colour so long as it is black (more recently though we have added white).
Tayside Classic Car Club
hamilton classics.
We are very much a low key type of club, no committees or stuff like that!, just a bunch of guys and girls who like to enjoy their cars! We meet on the 2nd Monday at the Toby Carvery in Strathclyde country park just at the Raith interchange jcn 5 M74 (limited meets while show season on, check front page for dates!) But normally you will find us tinkering about most nights on something rusty & mechanical in one of our garages.
Grampian Classic Motorcycle Club
highland classic motor club.
We aim to promote the interest in all types of classic cars and motorcycles. Most of our members are based in the Inverness, Nairn and the Ross & Cromarty areas of the Highlands of Scotland, but we welcome members from all parts of the country. Ownership of a vehicle is not essential - so if we have caught your interest, please feel free to browse through our website.
Highland Car Club
Highland Car Club’s aim is quite simply to promote and encourage motorsport in the North of Scotland. The club organises a wide variety of events throughout the year, with something for everyone.
Orkney Vintage Club
The Club holds most of its winter meetings in Kirkwall, as this is fairly central from a travel point of view. There is at least one gathering or event held each month and there are outings and visits to places of interest during the summer months. See webiste for more details.

WHAT IS THE EV RALLY of SCOTLAND?
Building on the successful EV Rally of Scotland (EVROS) during COP26 in ‘21, and then the Tri-Hub EV Challenge in ‘22, EVROS is back! 2 days, approx. 600 miles, showcasing EV technology and the charging network in Scotland.
Put simply, The EVROS is a ‘demonstration’ of Scottish EV charging infrastructure, combined with clean and innovative vehicle technology. The idea is to prove that EV use across Scotland, and the rest of the UK, is not just ‘for the odd occasion’… It can be a ‘daily occurrence’… ‘the norm’!
We want to continue ‘bury the myth’ that EVs don’t have the range or capabilities to become the integral part of a Scottish fleet’s DNA!
Scotland needs to continue to show why it is leading the UK in embracing the very latest in innovative practices. ‘E-Mobility’ and the ‘decarbonisation of transport’ is seen as a key element to helping shift towards net zero and a cleaner future, and when it comes to EVs and infrastructure, the fleet sector has a huge role to play.
EVROS in 2021 and the 2022 Great British EV Rally not only showed what is possible in the future… It showed UK fleets that e-Mobility is here NOW!
The event will comprise a minimum of 10 x Teams, representing Scottish business and the EV sector. Each Team can enter an EV of their choice (car or van), along with a driver and co-driver. They will embark on a 600 all-electric mile moving showcase, with 4 or 5 Checkpoints a day. Each Checkpoint is photographed and posted on social media using specific #hastags and @handles, creating the organic growth and coverage to capture the attention.
TALKING ABOUT THE UNBELI EV ABLE
In an era that is ‘played out’ online, across the internet and social media platforms, the concept of a ‘moving event’ reaching the masses, through these channels, is what makes the Rally the success that it is.
Both days will consist of a ‘Start’ and a ‘Finish’ with a collection of Official Checkpoints (CPs) in-between. The CPs will be a mix of charging hubs, clean energy projects and iconic Scottish landmarks, in some of the most challenging terrain in the UK, if not Europe. All part of the ‘narrative’ that the Rally is able to communicate – EVs are here, they’re not going away and they’re more than capable of being your everyday work car or van. The charging infrastructure in Scotland is class-leading and is only going to get better.
At each CP, the Teams stop, drivers exit the vehicle and they ‘Check-In’. They then take a picture of the vehicle, at the CP, and post that picture on social media platforms, using very strict @Handles and #Hashtags. This filters out and is liked and shared across their own channels, ours and those of the other participating Teams.
Junior 1000 Ecosse Challenge
Aimed at 14-17 year olds and designed to introduce them to rallying in a safe and controlled manner. Many Championship alumni have gone on to drive in the Scottish Rally Championship and the Scottish Tarmack Rally Championship.
About the Championship
Rallying for 14 to 17 year olds!
Junior 1000 rallying in the UK was started by the Formula 1000 Rally Club in 2009, with championships being introduced in Scotland and Ireland in 2012.
In Scotland, the Championship was taken on by the Ecosse Challenge and the first event at Charterhall in March 2012 attracted 10 crews. Key to the launch of the championship and leading the organising team at the start was David Barlow, aka DIGB, who in 2015 was made Motor Sports Association Volunteer of the Year and was further recognised in 2016 by the world governing body, the FIA.
Many competitors have gone on to be active in the senior Scottish rally championships and in the British Rally Championship. Some have changed motorsport discipline and taken part in Rallycross and Circuit Racing.
We welcome competitors from all over Britain, Northern Ireland and Eire. Our competition calendar varies annually but most events are in Scotland, usually with some in Wales and Northern England where we join with competitors in the Junior 1000 Rally Championship.

Paris is going electric — for a new perspective on the city, take a low-carbon car tour
With its sights set on banning fossil fuel cars by 2030, Paris is embracing electric vehicles — and you can take one for a spin around the capital’s landmarks.
Vintage cars, with vintage engines, typically have a lot to say: they grumble around corners, groan up hills and continue to mutter to themselves even when they’ve come to a stop. But this one isn’t like the others. The white-and-blue Renault 4L, which rolled off the factory floor in 1955, should be as talkative as the rest of her kind. Yet, all I can hear as we stop at a red light between the honey-coloured apartments of the 8th arrondissement are wafts of French radio, blowing in through the sunroof on the breeze.
From the back seat, it’s hard to tell exactly where it’s coming from — beyond one of the cast iron balconies on either side, perhaps, or the next car over, where a blonde woman is cradling a miniature poodle on her lap.The light turns green, and the little Renault sparks into life. The engine sounds like a spaceship powering up— there’s an electrical whirring that grows increasingly high pitched. And then we’re away, speeding over the cobbles. “She’s surprisingly powerful,” driver Renaud Garza calls back with a chuckle from beneath his navy chauffeur’s cap. “With the battery, I can drive at around 75mph.”
Increasingly, the streets of Paris are going electric. Like our Renault 4L, battery-powered cars have become a more popular sight over the last decade — together with a burgeoning herd of e-buses, bikes and even unicycles. It’s all part of the city’s plans to outlaw all but electric vehicles by 2030 in preparation for becoming carbon neutral by 2050. Officials have run incentives to boost the use of e-vehicles over recent years, such as the €100 (£85) per month leasing scheme that had to be phased out early due to the vigorous uptake. Infrastructure is being upgraded, too, with charging points appearing around Paris at increasingly regular intervals and a trial electrified motorway, which can charge cars as they drive, under construction nearby.
Renaud typically drives a fleet of petrol Citroën 2CVs between Paris’s blockbuster sights for his tour company 4 Roues Sous 1 Parapluie. But over the past few years, they have added an electric version alongside the Renault 4L. Both have retrofitted, specially designed batteries.
“Get ready — I’m about to drive in the most dangerous place in Paris,” Renaud calls from the front seat as we approach the Arc de Triomphe, the sound of sirens growing steadily louder as the traffic thickens. Here, 12 major roads, including the Champs-Élysées, converge into a vast, eight-lane roundabout with the alabaster arch at its heart, vehicles endlessly circling like planets around the sun.As we’re pulled into orbit, the little Renault judders across the cobblestones, rattling on a circuitous trajectory past uniformed gendarmes posing for photos and the arch’s intricate friezes. “The French invented the roundabout,” says Renaud with a proud nod. The Etoile, as this one is known, is the proud maman of them all.
We turn right down a shaded thoroughfare lined with plane trees, past cafes heaving with suited workers lunching beneath gold parasols, and bump across a bridge over the Seine to see our next stop piercing the sky. “The Eiffel Tower was built as the centrepiece for the 1889 World’s Fair,” Renaud explains as we draw closer to one of its broad, latticed feet. “Parisians didn’t like it at the time — they’d just finished their city with all of this nice stone and then this popped up. It was ugly, too industrial. But it was useful as a radio tower, so they kept it.” Soon, we’re close enough to see its ornate ironwork and the mechanics of the lift, the cogs slowly rotating. The garden around it is closed, in the process of being preened in preparation for its starring role in the Olympics’ opening ceremony — athletes will travel on boats for six miles down the Seine before coming to a stop here. It’s been 100 years since Paris last hosted the Olympics in 1924, and the tower is being repainted gold — closer to the colour Gustave Eiffel originally chose — to mark the occasion.
“The French are quite proud, it’s true,” Renaud says as we do another lap. “We want to impress the world.”
