A small, totally uninhabited island about half a mile west of Bonaire's mainland (you can see it in the distance from downtown Kralendijk ), Klein Bonaire is an unblemished oasis protected from development as part of the Bonaire National Marine Park . Klein means “small,” and this little satellite sister island is only accessible by water taxi. Though it boasts Bonaire’s absolute best expanse of blindingly white soft sand called No Name Beach, it offers no refreshment stands, changing areas or beach umbrellas, so you will need to pack your own water, food, reef-safe sunscreen, towels and any other supplies. But a visit to Klein Bonaire is not really about sunbathing – travelers are drawn to the island for its snorkeling and swimming opportunities. Klein Bonaire is ringed by a vibrant reef just offshore that’s a playground for sea turtles, rays and often dolphins, too.

No trip to Bonaire is complete without taking a trip along the south coast to experience some of the island’s most surreal signature sights. Locally referred to as the “ Rondje Zuid ,” meaning the “South Round,” this sightseeing route begins downtown and heads south along the coast past Donkey Beach and Bachelor’s Beach to the famous salt mountains, which are flanked by pink salt pan lakes now run by Cargill. Also of note on this route is the Willemstoren Lighthouse. Built in 1837, it still operates today, though it has been modernized to run on solar power. Beside it sits the ruins of the original lightkeeper’s house; the scene makes for excellent photographs by the sea.

U.S. News Insider Tip: You can also often spot small colonies of flamingos at Gotomeer, a salt marsh in the north end of the island. – Susan Campbell

As one of only four designated flamingo breeding grounds in the world, southern Bonaire's Pekelmeer Flamingo Sanctuary is a sight to behold – but you'll need binoculars. To protect Bonaire's national bird, tourists are not actually allowed inside of the reserve. Luckily, these bright pink locals can be viewed from the road above the sanctuary and nearby Pink Beach. Upward of 10,000 Caribbean flamingos can be seen every year during breeding season from January to July, so you'll get the best views during these months. Once the breeding season is over, some birds remain, while others migrate to Venezuela to feed for the remainder of the year.

Though diving is Bonaire's main allure, those seeking a quintessential Caribbean experience won't be disappointed by Lac Bay’s Sorobon Beach. With its stunning views, warm shallow aqua waters and brilliant white sand, sun-seekers will find ample amenities there like lounge chairs, beach bars and restaurants. But the real draw to this end of the island is the world-class conditions for windsurfing. Situated on the eastern side of the island, Lac Bay's steady trade winds and limited boat traffic provide idyllic conditions for both novice and seasoned windsurfers (the farther you venture out in the bay, the more challenging the conditions become).

Founded in Rincón in 2009 by Dutch entrepreneur Eric Gietman, this unique boutique distillery is a must-visit for anyone seeking to sample authentic local spirits. Though its original claim to fame was being the first in the world to use local cactus as a base for its liqueurs, Cadushy Distillery has since expanded its offerings and now produces rum, vodka, whiskey and gin. Visitors can sample the distillery’s unique liqueurs and liquors for free in the enchanting tasting garden.

A bird-watcher's paradise, Washington Slagbaai National Park's nearly 14,000-acre semi-desert, cacti-studded protected oasis plays host to more than 200 different types of birds. The park also offers ample hiking trails suited for both amateur and expert trekkers. Pick up all the information you need at the entrance visitor center, which also houses a small museum.

Hikers can choose between three routes. The Lagadishi Walking Trail, which begins at the park's visitor center, is an easy two-hour walk that provides a complete snapshot of Bonaire's native flora and fauna. The 45-minute Kasikunda Climbing Trail – which also begins at the park's visitor center – is a steep trek up a volcanic hill, but the views of north Bonaire are worth the effort, according to travelers. Lastly, for a hike that offers unparalleled views of neighboring Curaçao – and on clear days, the Santa Ana Hill on Venezuela's Paraguaná Peninsula – take the Subí Brandaris Trail, considered the most challenging hike in the park. Note that this hike does not start at the visitor center.

Though these three-wheeled carts (called Blokarts) resemble a sailboat, you needn’t know how to sail to operate one. In fact, no experience is necessary. What you do need to enjoy this unique mode of transportation are strong winds and very flat track surfaces – and the east coast of Bonaire has plenty of both. As you race around the sand using the handlebars to steer, winds can push the Blokart of speeds up to 25 mph. You control the speed with a rope, so you can have as wild a ride or as peaceful a journey as you like.

I spent around 4 months in the Dutch Caribbean last year, and I know what a hassle it can be to find the perfect tour without getting ripped off.

The tour is 100 % private, so there will be no other people with you on the boat. The tour starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m.

Snacks, Lunch, and Drinks are included – so you really do not need to worry about a thing. Even snorkeling equipment can be borrowed on the vessel free of charge. 

The tour spends about 4 hours cruising the Bonaire National Marine Park. In the last hour, your catamaran will take you to beautiful Klein Bonaire for the most amazing marine life in the Caribbean.

The tour is also customizable, so if you wish to see other Bonaire snorkeling sites – that is totally up to you. 

The downside of this tour is, obviously the price point. But, keep in mind that you can split it through up to six people, so it is really not that bad! Also compared to other Klein Bonaire Snorkeling Tours – it is totally justified.

Your tour guide will take you to the small island of Klein Bonaire. There, you will be able to explore 3 different snorkeling spots. The guide will hop into the water with you and make sure you have the best experience.

This tour takes about 4 hours and visits Klein Bonaire as well as the Bonaire National Marine Park. 

At the Bonaire National Marine Park, a snorkel guide will hop into the water with you and guide you to the coolest snorkel spots. 

In between all the water sports, you can chill in the sun on the fabulous catamaran. 

While you enjoy the ride, your crew is gonna prepare an amazing BBQ dinner for you, including some yummy seafood!

4. Double Tip Snorkel Trip

The Double Tip Snorkel Trip is one of the most beloved snorkel adventures in Bonaire. And for good reason. 

The trip takes about 3,5 hours and you will visit two of the best Bonaire snorkeling spots. In my opinion, the coolest feature of the trip: a professional photographer will be on the boat to help you make memories permanent.

Another thing I highly appreciate about this tour is, that they offer prescription masks. As a person who wore glasses for 12 years, it is so cool to have the opportunity to snorkel despite that disability. 

After a fun day on the sea, your vessel will take you back to Kralendijk. On the way, you can enjoy some fruit punch and homemade snacks. 

I mean, what is not to love about this tour?

For everyone who does not want to spend the entire day on the water, this tour is a perfect fit. This 7-hour tour of the Washington Slagbaai National Park is gonna take you to some of the most pristine spots on the island. 

With a 4×4 you will explore deserted beaches, blowholes, and abandoned plantation houses. There is plenty of time to see the wildlife in the park – and of course to go snorkeling. 

For snorkeling, the Wayaka trail is an excellent spot. You will be amazed by the beautiful wildlife in the nature reserve. 

Hotel/Port drop off and pick up are included in this cool tour. The group sizes are very small, which means you will get some great personal attention from your guide.

This Snorkeling Tour in Bonaire is so much fun – and ideal for adventurers. The Sea Scooters make swimming completely obsolete!

The Sea Scooters are a super comfortable way to explore the water without getting tired. At the beginning of the tour, your guide will show you some basic techniques on how to handle the equipment. 

During the 1,5 hour excursion, you can either follow your guide to the best snorkel spots on the island or explore by yourself. 

Pickup for cruise passengers is included. Other guests are asked to hop in at the Marriott Hotel. This is one of the best snorkeling in Bonaire trips without much effort.

Duration : 1,5 hours

This Bonaire excursion combines two of the most interesting things in Bonaire – the southern side and some snorkeling. 

Your guide will show you the Salt Flats and the Salt Pear as well as some historic slave huts. I loved seeing the Flamingos and the Dokeys in Bonaire the most! 

Next, your PADI guide will take you snorkeling in the island’s marine park area. The snorkeling part of the tour takes about an hour. 

The downside of this tour is, that you need to buy a pass for the Marine Park (USD 40,00) additionally. 

It tour is an amazing way to explore the island by sea and by land – and learn a lot about culture and history at the same time.

On this adventure trip, you will explore the beautiful, crystal-clear blue water starting in Kralendijk. 

The tour will make two different spots for snorkeling. You can see different tropical fish, sea grass, and mangroves on this tour. 

In between your snorkeling stops, you can enjoy some snacks and beverages on the boat. There are only up to 10 people allowed on the boat, which makes it a super personalized experience.

This fun tour and shore excursion is ideal for cruise guests because it shows you all the highlights of Bonaire in a very short amount of time. 

See the flamingos and the salt flats before participating in a guided tour of the Cultural Museum. You can check out Downtown Kralendijk and take some cute pictures. 

You can also choose to spend two hours at the Spice Beach Club on this tour. There you can rent some snorkeling equipment and check out the marine life. 

Compared to the other tours, there are not a lot of extras offered on this tour. However, it does combine everything you need to see in one day in Bonaire.

Good tour, amazing tour guide The tour itself was great, but what made it exceptional, was our tour guide Stan. He picked us up at the cruise port and on the way to the mangroves told us about the history of Bonaire and present day life on the island. He also on the way showed us the famous flamingo’s, wild donkeys and salt deposits and stopped the car so we could get better pictures. All of this was a bonus to the actual tour we booked, the kayak trip through the fabulous mangroves with opportunity to snorkel. Yes, Bonaire is still good for snorkeling. Over the years, the government has put some measures into place to protect marine life but the island still offers some of the best snorkeling spots in the world. 

Bonaire is better for snorkeling than Aruba. In Bonaire, you can hop directly into the water and see amazing fish and corals. Amazing snorkel spots in Aruba are harder to find, and the shallow water is very cloudy in most places. 

Yes, you can snorkel directly from the beach in Bonaire. The island has about 83 marked dive and snorkel sites, and each one of them is amazing. It has been voted the number one shore diving location in the world. 

Bonaire is the best ABC Island for snorkeling. While Aruba and Curacao also have some beautiful snorkel spots, Bonaire has by far the best marine life. Bonaire’s government does an amazing job at protecting the coral reefs. 

No, you don’t have to pay to snorkel in Bonaire. There are plenty of free accessible spots to snorkel in Bonaire. For an excursion to Klein Bonaire or the Washington Slagbaai National Park, you do need to pay a small fee. 

Bonaire is year-round an amazing destination to visit. It is located outside the hurricane belt, so the weather is always good. The official rainy season is from December to March, but it rarely rains for more than an hour per day. 

I suggest spending at least a week in Bonaire. There are many amazing things to see and explore, so a week is a great amount of time. 

Bonaire has some of the clearest water for snorkeling in the world. Other great places are Komodo Island, Big Island Hawaii, Palawan, Great Blue Hole, Galapagos Islands and British Virgin Islands.

Bonaire’s stunning marine life is something everyone needs to experience at least once in their life. Luckily, there is an amazing offer for snorkel tours and excursions on the island.

Here are the highlights from last night’s Raw :

10.) Gunther, Damian Priest, and Drew McIntyre discuss the future of the World Heavyweight Championship

Ludwig Kaiser introduced the new King of the Ring, Gunther, who won the title after beating Randy Orton at this past Saturday’s King and Queen of the Ring.

With this victory, Gunther also earned the opportunity to challenge the World Heavyweight Champion at SummerSlam. He commended the current champion, Damian Priest, for his leadership in The Judgment Day, but complained that the World Heavyweight Championship lacks prestige because Priest won it by taking a shortcut.

Priest would not let that slide. He and his Judgment Day teammates, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh, interrupted the new King immediately to refute his claims.

Priest pointed out the hypocrisy of accusing someone of taking a shortcut when Gunther won the King of the Ring match via pinfall without actually pinning Orton’s shoulders to the mat. Additionally, the “shortcut” in question was cashing in the Money in the Bank contract, which was earned in a ladder match that Priest won cleanly. Priest threatened to teach Gunther a lesson, and Gunther welcomed him to try, as he has not felt challenged by an opponent in a long time. The two alluded to Gunther’s World Heavyweight Championship match at SummerSlam, and were interrupted by Drew McIntyre.

The Scottish Warrior was not happy about Gunther and Priest assuming that Priest would still be champion by SummerSlam. Priest will defend his title against McIntyre at Clash at the Castle next month, and will only face Gunther at SummerSlam if he can first make it past this battle. McIntyre called them out for acting like Priest being champion by SummerSlam was a foregone conclusion, and Gunther took this as his cue to leave. McIntyre addressed the champion directly, explaining that with the Glasgow crowd on his side at Clash at the Castle, and the current disjointed state of The Judgment Day, Priest’s chances of retaining the title were slim. McIntyre’s attempts to get under Priest’s skin were in vain, as Priest saw right through it and turned the tables, successfully getting a reaction out of McIntyre. He continued to poke the bear, but before McIntyre could strike, the conversation was interrupted once again by Braun Strowman.

Strowman had been causing problems for The Judgment Day over the past few weeks, and McDonagh was tasked with fixing the Strowman problem in a one-on-one match. Prior to the beginning of the match, Strowman asserted his dominance by cutting off the leader of The Judgment Day mid-sentence, and stared him down.

9.) Braun Strowman plows through JD McDonagh and The Judgment Day

JD McDonagh was forced to bite off more than he could chew when ordered to take down Braun Strowman.

Throughout the match, Strowman manhandled McDonagh. The Irish Ace struggled to gain any sort of traction, despite the presence of Finn Balor at ringside. Nevertheless, he was resilient enough to keep the match going, something many of Strowman’s opponents have failed to do. McDonagh did finally manage to use Strowman’s momentum against him, diving out of the way and clipping his knee as Strowman charged towards McDonagh in the corner. McDonagh continued targeting Strowman’s knee, but it still wasn’t enough to keep the big man down. Balor attempted to distract the referee, but strowman picked him up and tossed him. Carlito also ran in to help McDonagh, but was quickly neutralized.

Strowman won the match, but Carlito and Balor immediately descended on him and attacked. While Strowman was outnumbered, he was far from outmatched, and effortlessly threw the two off of him. McDonagh attempted to hit Strowman with a chair, but it did not have any effect besides making Strowman angrier. Strowman chased McDonagh backstage, and continued to hunt him down for the rest of the night.

8.) Ricochet barely cleared for Ilja Dragunov rematch

After his conversation with Ilja Dragunov about a rematch was interrupted by a spear from Bron Breakker, Ricochet was finally medically cleared to compete. He told Raw General Manager Adam Pearce that he wanted to face Breakker that night, but Pearce informed him that Breakker was suspended for his actions. However, Ricochet was granted the rematch he requested against Dragunov.

Though Ricochet was medically cleared, his ribs were clearly still in rough shape and held him back. The injury did not stop him from delivering an exciting performance, by any means, and he still put up a great fight against Dragunov. Dragunov had previously beaten Ricochet in an exhilarating match during the first round of the King of the Ring tournament. This was the reason Breakker attacked Ricochet in the first place, as he was upset they were selected for the tournament and he wasn’t. It was also why Breakker ignored his suspension and attacked Ricochet last night, interrupting the match with a spear and causing it to end in disqualification.

Dragunov tried to fight back against Breakker, but received a spear himself. Pearce ran out to reprimand Breakker, but Breakker did not seem to care.

7.) The Final Testament displays their power

The New Day approached World Tag Team Champions Awesome Truth about a title shot, but The Miz and R-Truth denied them and made a speedy exit. Seeing this, Karrion Kross came over to talk to Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston.

Over the last couple of weeks, Kross has been attempting to drive a wedge between The New Day, to no avail. Kingston asked him to quit the mind games and cut to the chase by challenging them to a match, but he incorrectly assumed Kross’s motive. Kross was not trying to fight The New Day, but help Woods step out of Kingston’s shadow. He invited Woods to watch the Authors of Pain in their upcoming match to see how The Final Testament can benefit his career. Woods not only declined, but laughed in his face, and challenged AOP to a match next week.

In their match, the Authors of Pain made short work of The Creed Brothers. Brutus and Julius could barely get any offense in against Akam and Rezar, and one of their few attempts was thwarted by a distraction at ringside. As they set up for the Brutus Ball, Scarlett attacked Ivy Nile, taking their focus away from the match. This ensured the victory for AOP, but they probably could have gotten the job done without any dirty tactics, albeit a tad bit slower.

6.) Sheamus and Ludwig Kaiser come to blows

Sheamus spoke for the first time since his loss to Gunther in the first round of the King of the Ring tournament.

His loss was due in part to interference from Gunther’s crony, Ludwig Kaiser. Sheamus was at peace with the interference, but he was also injured during the match, and Kaiser continued to insult him while he sat at home nursing the injury. This, Sheamus could not stand for, and he could not wait to get his hands on him.

Kaiser popped up on the titantron to argue that Gunther was the only person responsible for Sheamus’s loss. Sheamus ran backstage to hunt down Kaiser, but Kaiser saw him coming and ambushed him. The two brawled from backstage out to the entrance ramp, and it took a team of officials to separate them.

5.) Lyra Valkyria defeats Kairi Sane

Following her devastating loss to Nia Jax in the final round of the Queen of the Ring tournament this past Saturday, Lyra Valkyria took on Kairi Sane, who was accompanied by her Damage CTRL teammate Dakota Kai. Despite being severely banged up, Valkyria still managed to put up a fight. Her ribs were especially vulnerable after being subjected to Jax’s annihilator on Saturday, and Sane took full advantage of the weakness. Valkyria continued to push through the pain, and successfully took down Sane.

Backstage, Sane and Kai approached Iyo Sky with their tails between their legs. Valkyria eliminated Sky from the Queen of the Ring tournament, making this her second victory over Damage CTRL. Sky was enraged, and tore apart the room, smashing everything she could get her hands on.

4.) The Judgment Day support Carlito against LWO

Rey Mysterio took on Carlito after he attacked and injured Mysterio’s LWO teammate, Cruz del Toro, last week. Mysterio was accompanied to the ring by Zelina Vega and Dragon Lee. Carlito entered unaccompanied, and was disappointed that the judgment day did not come out with him. He overpowered Mysterio for much of the match, even without the additional support, but struggled to get the job done. Finn Balor did end up making a surprise appearance once Mysterio gained the upper hand, but it was too late to make a difference.

After Mysterio won the match, he grabbed Balor and laid him out on the announcer’s table, setting him up for the high-flying Dragon Lee. Before Lee could jump, Damian Priest showed up to defend Balor, single handedly taking out both Lee and Mysterio. While he was quick to come to Carlito’s and Balor’s aid, Priest was annoyed that he had to pick up their slack because they could not take care of the problem on their own, a recurring theme for The Judgment Day recently.

3.) Otis punished by Chad Gable

Ahead of Otis’s match against Bronson Reed, Chad Gable chewed out Akira Tozawa for not being at King and Queen of the Ring, where Gable lost the triple threat match for the Intercontinental title against Reed and Champion Sami Zayn. Gable also scolded Otis for causing him to lose the match, and said that this match against Reed was his shot at redemption.

During the match, Gable coached Otis by berating him while he was down. When Otis did begin to pick up momentum, he got Reed in perfect position for the caterpillar, a move which Gable detests. Gable protested from outside the ring, stopping Otis in his tracks. Otis stood as Gable dealt his verbal abuse, giving Reed ample time to collect himself and strike back. Gable’s coaching cost Otis the match, but he blamed Otis for attempting the silly offense in the first place.

After this most recent loss in a string of Alpha Academy disappointments, Gable called the rest of the group out to witness the public shaming of Otis. He took off his belt and instructed Otis to bend over so that he could whip him. Gable raised his arm, but Maxxine Dupri grabbed him, stopping him in his tracks. In response, Gable ejected her from the ring. He forced Tozawa to stay and watch. Before Gable could get back to the matter at hand, Sami Zayn’s music hit. Gable warned Zayn to stay out of Alpha Academy business, but the Intercontinental Champion continued. He called Gable a weak little man, manipulating his way into opportunities but falling short and blaming everyone but himself. Gable dug his heels in, continuing to blame Otis, and raised the belt once again. This time, Zayn intercepted and snatched it away.

Zayn then spoke directly to Otis, telling him once again that he should stop listening to Gable, and start listening to the people in the audience who love and support him. Gable stops Zayn with a barrage of fists. After leaving Zayn beaten in the ring, Gable started to leave. Reluctantly, Tozawa followed, but Otis remained stuck in his place, looking back and forth between his mentor, still hurling insults, and Zayn, who just took a beating in his defense. After contemplating, he slowly followed Gable, but struggled to take his eyes off Zayn.

2.) Sonya Deville tries to help Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark

Cathy Kelley interviewed Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark, the number one contenders for the Women’s Tag Team Championships. Stark suggested inviting the current champions, Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair, to Raw next week so that they could properly introduce themselves ahead of their match. Sonya Deville interrupted to tell them that while they talk as though they’re already champions, they won’t win without her help. Baszler got defensive, but Deville said the issue was not their abilities, but rather that the locker room does not respect them.

They refused to hear anymore and walked away, but were stopped by Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn. Fyre and Dawn pointed out that Baszler and Stark have never beaten them, and made it very clear that they don’t believe they can, proving Deville’s point.

1.) Liv Morgan continues her revenge tour

This past Saturday and King and Queen of the Ring, Liv Morgan challenged Becky Lynch for the Women’s World Championship.

Morgan had previously stated that she was on a revenge tour, seeking to take away everything Rhea Ripley holds dear after Ripley injured her, taking away nine months of Morgan’s career. Morgan had already returned the favor, injuring Ripley’s shoulder in a backstage brawl and forcing her to vacate the Women’s World Championship. However, it was not good enough that Ripley did not hold the title, Morgan needed to have it for herself. Becky Lynch was the woman standing in her way.

In what appeared to be an attempt to avenge his Mami and block Morgan from achieving her goal, Dominik Mysterio interfered in the match on Saturday. He slid a steel chair into the ring towards Lynch, but the challenger took advantage of the weapon instead, and won the match as a result. Lynch was incensed, and invoked her rematch clause immediately. Morgan was fine with this, as she still wanted to prove that she could beat Lynch fair and square, and was deserving of the title.

The rematch was a steel cage match, a stipulation that would limit outside interference like what occurred in the first match. However, this did not stop Mysterio from trying. He opened the door of the steel cage to allow Lynch to escape, which would have won her the match. Finn Balor and JD McDonagh ran out to stop him, but Mysterio insisted that he had to fix the mistake he made on Saturday. Braun Strowman, who had been chasing McDonagh since their match earlier in the night ended, finally caught up to him. He chased McDonagh and Balor around the outside of the cage and out of the arena. In his pursuit, Strowman knocked Mysterio into the door of the steel cage, slamming it shut on an escaping Lynch. The impact of the door to Lynch’s face knocked her out, allowing Morgan to crawl through the door without any hindrance. She retained her championship, once again with Mysterio’s unintentional assist.

In celebration, Morgan grabbed the exasperated Mysterio and planted a forceful kiss on his lips. While he did not appear to reciprocate, Rhea Ripley will still not likely be pleased with the direction Morgan’s revenge tour has taken.

World No. 3 Rory McIlroy will look to add to his success in Canada when he tees off in the 2024 RBC Canadian Open beginning on Thursday at Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Hamilton, Ontario. The 35-year-old McIlroy won the tournament the last time it was held at Hamilton in 2019. He also won it in 2022 when it was played at St. George's Golf and Country Club in Toronto. In his only other start in the Canadian Open, he tied for ninth last year. 

This year, McIlroy is the overwhelming favorite in the 2024 RBC Canadian Open odds at +360. Tommy Fleetwood (+1600) and Sahith Theegala (+1800) round out the top three choices in the RBC Canadian Open 2024 field. One surprise: Nejad is completely fading Canadian Corey Conners, even though he is +2200 in the odds, behind only McIlroy, Fleetwood and Theegala. A 32-year-old from Listowel, Canada, Conners has a spotty record in the Canadian Open. In eight starts, he has missed the cut five times, including in 2019, the last time it was held at Hamilton. 

In addition, Conners has been woeful with the putter in 2024. He ranks 163rd in strokes gained: putting (-0.467) and 171st in putts per round (29.73) this season. "Conners is an elite ball-striker, but his short game has enough holes in it to prevent him from beating this entire field over four rounds," Nejad told SportsLine.

Instead, Nejad is high on the chances of Alex Noren, who's listed at +2200 on the PGA odds board. The 41-year-old from Sweden has two top-10 and nine top-25 finishes in 2024. Earlier this month, he secured a third-place finish in the CJ CUP Byron Nelson.

Nejad likes Noren's all-around game. He ranks fourth on the PGA Tour in strokes gained: total (1.382). He's also been extremely effective with an iron in his hands, ranking sixth in greens in regulation percentage (71.32%). RBC Canadian Open picks 2024: Best bets for PGA Tour golf this week

We're heading north of the US border this week to the 2024 RBC Canadian Open, which returns to Hamilton Golf & Country Club for the first time since 2019 when Rory McIlroy ran away from the field. This tournament, of course, gave us some elite scenes when Nick Taylor broke a 70+ year drought to give us a Canadian winner (and for Adam Hadwin to get leveled by security) at this PGA Tour event.

The Par 70 course is quite similar in many ways to what we saw at Colonial last week. Driving accuracy and approach play are crucial and it's a ball-striker's golf course. Rory's win was an outlier to some degree because of his length off of the tee because this isn't necessarily a course that can be bludgeoned to death. That's something we're keeping in mind with our RBC Canadian Open picks.

We need something big with our expert picks too as the golf betting gods have been anything but kind to this point. It was a shutout against us last week in Texas so maybe Canada will live up to its repuation and be nicer. With that, let's get right into our RBC Canadian Open picks for this week at Hamilton.

RBC Canadian Open PGA Tour expert picks: Winner, Top 10 and One and Done

Top 10 pick for the rbc canadian open: davis thompson (+400).

Davis Thompson is a guy we've seen contend on the PGA Tour before, including within the past month when he finished T2 at the Myrtle Beach Classic. He followed that up last week with a solid T17 finish at Colonial. And the profile is enticing. Over the last 12 rounds in this field, he's seventh in SG: Off-the-Tee, sixth in SG: Approach and fourth in SG: Tee-to-Green despite losing (slightly) strokes around the green. His short game has been an issue this year at times but his last two starts have seen that start to level out. If that continues this week at a nice fit for his ball striking, he could absolutely be on the first page of the leaderboard.

Winner pick for the RBC Canadian Open (0.5 Units): Shane Lowry (+2200)

In truth, I think there's a good chance that Rory McIlroy (+400) comes back to Hamilton and gets the win with how he's been playing. But I can't bet that number in good conscience, so we're going with Shane Lowry this week. His ball striking has been a weapon for months now but we finally saw the putter, which had been bleeding strokes, show signs of life at the PGA Championship, gaining in three of the four rounds. He also finished T2 behind Rory at this venue in 2019 and it fits his ideal build for accuracy and ball striking. If the putter stays solid for Lowry, the Irishman should be in the mix again.

One and Done pick for the RBC Canadian Open: Aaron Rai

We'll unpack more on Aaron Rai in just a moment but, since we already burned Lowry as a One and Done pick (poorly) at the RBC Heritage, we're taking the Englishman this week for a strong finish to get us on a nice trajectory down the home stretch for One and Done.

RBC Canadian Open picks: More best bets for PGA Tour this week

Aaron rai to finish top 10 at the rbc canadian open (+320).

We're not making you wait long for the Aaron Rai breakdown. Over the last 20 rounds in this field, Rai is second in Fairways Gained, a key stat this week at Hamilton where being the fairway can be hugely important. Meanwhile, he's made good on that, ranking third in this field in SG: Approach over the last 12 rounds. He's thrived on courses that demand accuracy and ball striking over the past couple of years and, though he bled strokes with the short game at Colonial, he'd gained in his four previous events in that capacity. With that, I like for him to continue a nice run overall of late with a Top 10 finish.

Mac Meissner to finish Top 20 at the RBC Canadian Open (+275)

Maybe my favorite bet of the week and I wouldn't even hate getting even more aggressive than a Top 20 with Mac Meissner. An up-and-comer to some degree, Meissner's last two starts resulted in a T13 at Myrtle Beach and a T5 at the Charles Schwab. That bodes well for him at this course in terms of form and fit but the numbers back it up too. Over the last 16 rounds, Meissner is fourth in this field in SG: Tee-to-Green at 1.397. He's also gaining with the putter. He's an accurate driver whose best skill has been on approach lately and might be in the midst of a legitimate run. It's time to capitalize on that.

Kelly Kraft to finish Top 40 at the RBC Canadian Open (+210)

Talk about way down the board but there's a good reason to be in on Kelly Kraft this year and in this tournament. Over the last 20 rounds, Kraft is third in this field in SG: Approach, first in driving accuracy, and second in greens in regulation. He's played just four times on the PGA Tour in 2023, so the sample size is limited and the short game has been erratic but I can't ignore that tee-to-green profile at this course, so for only a Top 40, I'll take the swing.

Longshot pick to win the RBC Canadian Open (0.1 Units): Mac Meissner (+9000)

Again, I think Meissner is trending toward something big with the way he's playing right now, so I'm also going to sprinkle on him to win outright. Let's have a week!

INDIANAPOLIS – The field of 64 teams competing for the 2024 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship was announced today by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee.

The national top 16 seeds are Tennessee (50-11), Kentucky (40-14), Texas A&M (44-13), North Carolina (42-13), Arkansas (43-14), Clemson (41-14), Georgia (39-15), Florida St. (42-15), Oklahoma (37-19), NC State (33-20), Oklahoma St. (40-17), Virginia (41-15), Arizona (36-21), UC Santa Barbara (42-12), Oregon St. (42-14), and East Carolina (43-15).

The Southeastern Conference (SEC) leads the way with a record 11 teams selected from the conference. The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) has eight teams in the field followed by the Big 12 (6), Sun Belt (4), Big Ten (3) and Pac-12 (3). The American Athletic, Big East, Big West, Conference USA and Missouri Valley all have two teams in the field.

High Point, Niagara, and Northern Kentucky are making their first appearances in the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, while Evansville is making its first appearance since 2006.

Vanderbilt has the longest active streak with its 18th straight appearance. Other notable consecutive streaks include Florida (16), LSU (12), Oklahoma State (11) and DBU (10).

2024 RBC Canadian Open Power Rankings: Top-10 Golfers To Watch

A s always with this article, my primary goal is to provide a place to start your research and preparation for the incoming week. I have carefully evaluated the field to project course fits and past results in team golf formats. This will give you a glimpse at how my brain operates when it comes to handicapping this unique event. Here are my top 10 players to watch out for and a brief write-up of my reasons why.

No. 10 - Nick Taylor

He just had to make the list. For goodness sake, the Canadian Open actually changed their logo to the infamous Nick Taylor silhouette from the playoff hole last year where he was able to drain a 72-foot Eagle putt to leave Tommy Fleetwood and those of us at home speechless. It was honestly one of the most memorable moments of last season as Taylor became the first Canadian to capture their national open since Pat Fletcher won in 1954.

Taylor has been a bit shaky in the form department recently but he's one of the many Canadian's this week vying for not only the nation's pride, but also trying to secure a spot on the upcoming Presidents Cup team which is held in the homeland this season. Taylor will undoubtedly have a lot of media obligations this week, but the fond memories should be flowing and he'll be welcomed back to this event as a hero. Take your victory lap sir, you earned it!

No. 9 - Alex Noren

Alex Noren's worst finish in his last eight PGA Tour starts is a T24! He's been a stalwart of consistency and has been playing remarkable golf, essentially turning back the clock to years ago when we first witnessed Noren on the PGA Tour. He was once again dominant on approach at Valhalla during the PGA Championship, finishing +5.8 strokes on Approach on securing a T12 result in Kentucky at the second Major of the year.

Noren is a stud around the greens which I do believe could be a factor this week. Despite McIlroy winning this event at -22 in 2019, the field average score are indicative that it actually played quite difficult on average. Noren has gained strokes ARG in 10 consecutive starts and it just feels like one of these weeks that he is going to gain four strokes putting and rattle off a win. His odds will be slightly protected by books not willing to get exposed in the T20 markets, but he's absolutely won of the more reliable players in the field you can roster in your DFS lineups and I would expect nothing different at the Canadian Open

No. 8 - Adam Scott

For the second consecutive week, Adam Scott checks in at the #8 position in my Power Rankings. Scott was able to rekindle some familiar Texas mojo last week in Fort Worth at the Colonial where it felt like he could make another run at a title in Texas for a good while. His positive strides and improvement with the putter are so good that I find it perplexing that he has not been able to marry a good week on the greens with his deadly Ballstriking that he is well known for.

Scott has been incredible sound with his wedges in his last 36 rounds played. I have him ranked 5th in the entire field in terms of approach play inside of 125 yards over his last 36 rounds played. On a golf course that barely inches past 7,000 yards, players are going to have a ton of opportunities to hit into these smallish, tricky greens with a wedge. Those who are able to stick it close consistently like Adam Scott has been doing recently, should have the best chance to succeed.

No. 7 - Sam Burns

It's been a tale of two seasons for Sam Burns in 2024. He started off hot, finishing inside the top-33 in his first six tournaments played with near wins at both The American Express and the WM Phoenix Open. Then came the more recent run of the season, where Burns has only finished inside the top-40 once in his last six starts and has three missed cuts along the way.

Burns, normally one the best putters on Tour, has struggled substantially on the greens. He lost over 5 strokes putting at Valhalla which has been a familiar story lately for Burns who has become known for his prowess with the flat stick. There's is little doubt that Burns possesses elite top-level win equity when things are going right, but his struggling form has kept him outside of my top-5 this week where he rightly belongs if he was playing better golf.

No. 6 - Corey Conners

We have seen multiple wins take place by Canadian players this season (Nick Taylor, Taylor Pendrith), but no player is more accomplished and primed to win than Corey Conners. Known as one the most complete players on Tour from Tee-to-Green, Conners has been once again doing his thing in 2024. His approach numbers seem to be peaking at the right time as well. Conners has gained at least 7 strokes on Approach in each of his previous two starts.

Coming from someone who has routinely bet on Conners over many years, it can be agonizing to watch him flush it with his irons and go completely flaccid on the greens. He's gaining over a stroke per round on Approach in his last 24 rounds, easily the best of any player in the field. He's as talented as anyone, but has just not shown the ceiling upside to win that I believe the other players in my Top-5 have shown.

No. 5 - Tommy Fleetwood

Witnessing Tommy Fleetwood lay up on the final hole of regulation may leave me forever scarred. He seemingly had this tournament wrapped up last season, needing a birdie on the easy par-5 finishing hole to finally secure his first PGA Tour victory. Instead, Fleetwood laid up (INTO THE ROUGH!), and he remains one the best players to not have won. Fleetwood is an extremely well rounded player who possesses all the tools to potentially get it done against a mid-tier field in Canada.

On this short course, Fleetwood has the accuracy off the tee box to set himself up repeatedly in the fairway with wedge opportunities into these greens. He ranks 12th in Driving Accuracy percentage and also top-15 in proximity to the hole from 50-125 yards. It's a great course fit for an in-form Tommy Fleetwood. Could this be the week? He's got every shot in the bag, it's all in the mentals at this point for Fleetwood.

No. 4 - Cameron Young

While we are on the topic of the best players yet to win a PGA Tour Tournament, let's go ahead and dive into my #4 player, Cameron Young. He's still one of the best Drivers of the golf ball on the planet, but his struggles with the Putter continue to hold him back. That said, it's hard to find a player more well suited to dismantle Hamilton Golf & Country than Cameron Young. He's top-15 in the field in both SG: OTT and SG: Approach which should be a deadly combination at this golf course.

Young underwhelmed at the PGA Championship and failed to finish inside the top-30 in his prior Signature series event at the Wells Fargo Championship. We shouldn't be too quick to forget the run he was on in April though, where Young nearly won the Valspar Championship and followed that up with a Top-10 result at The Masters. It's rare to find a player with this much talent that is still in search for a victory, and he should be ultra motivated this week to finally get his name off the list.

No. 3 - Sahith Theegala

Sahith Theegala is here to stay. The fan favorite has matched his charisma with his performance of late, going off in one of the final groups and notching a ton of Major Championship pressured experience at Valhalla. Interestingly, his normal ability to showcase his excellent hands around the green has been somewhat sleepy lately, but it's a data metric that he will definitely have to be successful in this week at Hamilton G&CC.

Where he has excelled lately has been his iron play. He gained four strokes on Approach at the PGA Championship and has produced a vastly improved 2024 season. I used to believe that Theegala was a player that you could only have confidence on succeeding on particular course setups, but it has become clear that this player can compete and potentially win anywhere on the schedule. He's been knocking on the door all season long, and we'll have to wait and see if someone finally answers in Canada.

No. 2. Shane Lowry

If you are looking for a player that is a premium course fit at Hamilton G&CC, look no further than an in-form Shane Lowry. He admittedly rode the coattails of Rory McIlroy in New Orleans when they won the Zurich Classic (team event) a few weeks back, but then showcased that he indeed has some game of his own when he finished 6th at the PGA Championship. If you looking at his stat metrics, Lowry has been vastly improved with his approach play this season and it has led to terrific results thus far.

Lowry has four results that are T6 or better in his last eight tournaments. He made a big change with a new putter at Valhalla after losing over 20 strokes on the greens in his previous three starts. It definitely paid dividends as Lowry has his best putting week...ever! He gained a ridiculous 9 strokes Putting that week, and while I understand that is not repeatable or predictive, I think the confidence goes a long way. Lowry also finished in 2nd at the Canadian Open when this event was last played at Hamilton in 2019.

No. 1 - Rory McIlroy

Welcome to Rory week. Rory McIlroy won this event back in 2019 with a scorching final round 61 that was reminiscent of his recent slaughtering of the field at the Wells Fargo three weeks ago where he also won. There is a lot going on outside of the golf course with McIlroy at the moment, but he has always taken a particular liking to the Canadian Open and he'll be a substantial favorite to win once again this year.

He's the number one player in the stat model that I ran, and it's not particularly close. It would appear the subtle swing changes he made with Butch Harmon before the Masters are finally settling in. He's gone with a three-quarter wedge swing that has allowed him superior control and it shows on his approach play in recent weeks. I believe McIlroy is set up to dominate this event once again in 2024 and hoist another RBC Canadian Open trophy late on Sunday evening. All hail!
