The Used and Papa Roach Announce Co-Headline Australian Tour

The Used and Papa Roach have announced they’ll embark on an Australian tour together this year, playing a run of co-headline shows in April.

The tour will kick off Friday, 21st April at Metro City in Perth, before a show at Adelaide’s AEC Theatre on Sunday, 23rd April. The following evening, they’ll play Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena. The bands will play Hordern Pavilion in Sydney on Friday, 28th April before ending the run at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Sunday, 30th April.

For all shows except Brisbane, the bands will be joined by Japanese rockers Coldrain . Tickets for all shows go on sale this Friday, 20th January at 9am local time, with a pre-sale kicking off two days earlier which you can register for here .

“We are more than excited to finally be back in Australia! Can’t wait to see you all there,” The Used frontman Bert McCracken said when announcing the shows. “Are you ready for the best night of your life?!?!?” The emo titans last toured Australia in 2018 as part of Good Things Festival. Since then, they’ve released their eighth studio album, Heartwork , which arrived in 2020.

Papa Roach also haven’t visited our shores since 2018, when they performed a small run of east coast headline shows. “We’ve been such huge fans of The Used forever and we are thrilled to bring this tour down under,” frontman Jacoby Shaddix said in a statement.

Papa Roach’s 11th studio album,  Ego Trip , arrived in April of last year. It was previewed with lead single ‘Swerve’ which featured guest appearances from Fever 333 ‘s Jason Aalan Butler along with rapper Sueco.

The Used and Papa Roach have announced they’ll embark on an Australian tour together this year, playing five co-headlined shows in April.

The tour will kick off Friday, 21st April at Metro City in Perth, before a show at Adelaide’s AEC Theatre on Sunday, 23rd April. The Used & Papa Roach Are Bringing coldrain to Australia in April 2023

The Aussie touring circuit is getting some heat in 2023 with a huge force of international tours getting announced left, right and centre. There was a particular tour we’ve been waiting for ever since we saw it teased on Good Things Festival in December 2022.

It’s official – 90’s/00’s emos unite, ’cause The Used and Papa Roach are heading down for a five date tour across the country in April this year for the Cut My Heart Into Pieces Tour . Not only that, they’re bringing Japanese group coldrain down with them (in all cities except for Brisbane).

With their latest tunes from Heartwork , The Used are undoubtedly going to give Aussie fans an experience like no other, not to mention performances from Papa Roach ‘s Ego Trip , and super special sounds from coldrain ‘s latest record Nonnegative . All these bands have incredibly impressive back catalogues which is going to make one hell-of-a-night in each city.

On the tour, The Used ‘s Bert McCracken comments:

Papa Roach & The Used Announce Australian Co-Headlining Tour

Papa Roach and The Used will co-headline the ‘ Cut My Heart Into Pieces Tour ‘ across Australia this April. Coldrain will open all of the shows sans the final Brisbane date. Tickets for the run will be up this coming Friday, January 20th at 09:00am local time.

The Used and Papa Roach have announced a co-headlining tour of Australia, with five shows on the itinerary for this April.

Dubbed the ‘Cut My Heart Into Pieces’ tour, the run will kick off in Perth on Friday April 21, before heading east for a show in Adelaide that Sunday (April 23). From there, the two alternative staples will head to Melbourne on Monday April 24, then Sydney on Friday 28. Finally, they’ll wrap things up in Brisbane on Sunday April 30.

For all but the last show of the run, The Used and Papa Roach will be joined by Japanese post-hardcore titans Coldrain. Tickets for that Brisbane show can be found here , with info on all the others available here . They’ll go on sale at 9am local time this Friday (January 20), with a pre-sale – which you can sign up for here – starting at the same time on Wednesday (January 18).

This tour will mark The Used’s first shows on Australian soil since December 2018, when they toured here for that year’s Good Things festival. Papa Roach, on the other hand, were last seen Down Under in January of 2018. They’ve since released a trio of albums between them – Papa Roach released ‘Who Do You Trust?’ in 2019 and ‘Ego Trip’ last year, while The Used dropped ‘Heartwork’ in 2020.

The Used and Papa Roach’s 2023 Australian tour dates are:

APRIL Friday 21 – Boorloo/Perth, Metro City Sunday 23 – Kaurna/Adelaide, AEC Theatre Monday 24 – Naarm/Melbourne, Margaret Court Arena Friday 28 – Warrang/Sydney, Hordern Pavilion Sunday 30 – Meanjin/Brisbane, Fortitude Music Hall*

Aussie rock and nu-metal fans: get ready for one of this year's biggest tours, as  The Used and  Papa Roach are gearing up to bring the  Cut My Heart Into Pieces tour to Australia with special guests Coldrain  this April.

The Used vocalist  Bert McCracken is clearly thrilled by the tour announcement; he said in a statement, "We are more than excited to finally be back in Australia! Can’t wait to see you all there! Are you ready for the best night of your life?!?!?"

Jacoby Shaddix from Papa Roach added, "We’ve been such huge fans of THE USED forever and we are thrilled to bring this tour down under - AUSTRALIA GET READY TO GET ROWDY!"

The Used dropped their landmark self-titled debut in 2002. It was a genuine game-changer of a record that melded together rage, honesty and radio-accessible melody in a way that few acts of the era had managed. Powered by singles The Taste of Ink, Buried Myself Alive  and Blue and Yellow , The Used spread like wildfire amongst the teenagers of North America and then the world, going platinum in the US (and gold in Australia) and launching a dizzying ascent to stardom, that very few saw coming. 

The two follow-up efforts, In Love and Death , blew The Used’s success out of the water, delivering rock radio staples  All That I’ve Got  and I Caught Fire , and even inspired a Kevin Lyman -backed tour package The Taste of Chaos , which saw the band headline sold-out arenas at home and abroad (including down under). When their third record Lies For The Liars delivered their second consecutive Billboard top-10 spot, peaking at number five, the band's fame had reached the point where they were chosen to soundtrack the Michael Bay  Transformers  movie and their status as one of the most important bands in the great emo explosion of the ‘00s was cemented.

In a review of Papa Roach's 11th album, Ego Trip , Kerrang! declared , "Papa Roach are not only still with us, but they’re an infinitely more challenging, diverse and simply better band than the one that recorded breakthrough album Infest. New offering Ego Trip rips up any semblance of a rule book, rapping it up and rocking it out with the fervour of any of music’s bright young things."

Influential rock icons THE USED  and  PAPA ROACH  are thrilled to announce the  Cut My Heart Into Pieces tour which will hit Australian shores this April with special guests COLDRAIN .

THE USED have put out a number of albums over the course of more than 20 years that have influenced the alternative rock landscape. Out of the Centre

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.  

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
