Premier League US tour: Schedule plus TV and ticket details

kyle fansler

by Kyle Fansler April 13, 2023

premier league tour

The Premier League has announced a major summer tour involving six clubs across five cities. In total, there will be nine matches between Premier League teams in the United States in 2023 as part of this summer tour. Note that this does not include Arsenal or Manchester United , who both have individual summer friendlies planned in the United States this year.

The six clubs making the collective trip across the pond are Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton, Chelsea, Fulham and Newcastle. Each team is playing three games in the United States as part of this summer series across five venues. Games are in Philadelphia, Atlanta, Orlando, Harrison and Landover. The latter two are just outside of New York and Washington, DC, respectively.

This is the first time the Premier League is making a collective league effort to play a preseason tournament in the United States. In the past, teams traveled individually, but still played Premier League teams often. For example, the Florida Cup last year pit Arsenal against Chelsea .

Premier League US tour schedule

These games take place over a nine-day span from Saturday, July 22 to Sunday, July 30. The action starts in Philadelphia at Lincoln Financial Field, with a total of three games over that weekend. Chelsea plays against Brighton on Saturday before Fulham plays Brentford and Newcastle takes on Aston Villa.

Then, on Wednesday July 26, there are three games. Two are in Atlanta, which are Brentford-Brighton and Chelsea vs Newcastle. The third game is in Orlando as Fulham faces Aston Villa.

The last set of games start Friday, July 28 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ. Brighton and Newcastle conclude their USA ventures at the home of the New York Red Bulls. Then, on Sunday, July 30, there are two games at FedEx field in Landover, MD. Aston Villa battles Brentford before London clubs Chelsea and Fulham play.

How to watch

In addition to announcing the schedule, the Premier League also clarified that NBC is in charge of broadcasting the games. NBCUniversal’s family of channels, including USA Network as well as Peacock , have coverage of games throughout the preseason tournament.

You can also start to think about tickets to watch these games in the United States. Pre-sale tickets open on Tuesday, April 25. One day later, general sale tickets go on sale.

As soon as more ticket details are announced, we’ll share them in this article.

2024 USA Tour tickets now on sale

Arsenal's 2024 USA Tour

We’re heading to the USA again this summer where we’ll face Manchester United and Liverpool as part of our preparations for the 2024/25 season.

First up, we'll play Manchester United at SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles, on July 27. This will be the second time we’ll have faced each other on American soil, with the same fixture last July selling out the 80,000-capacity MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

In another high-profile game, we’ll travel to Philadelphia where we’ll play Liverpool at Lincoln Financial Field on July 31. This will be the first time we’ll have played each other in the US.

Our sporting Director, Edu, said: “Our plans for pre-season are taking great shape. Playing against two strong teams in great stadiums in front of so many of our supporters will provide Mikel and the squad with a strong test and great experience ahead of the new season.

“We know how great SoFi Stadium is after our sold-out match there last year. The facilities are incredible and we’re excited to return. We look forward to making further announcements about our trip soon.”

Manager Mikel Arteta added: “It’s great to be visiting the US again this summer. Our matches against Manchester United and Liverpool will be great preparation ahead of the new season.

"Our tour last year was a real success and it’s always an amazing experience to play in front of our passionate supporters in the US. We’re looking forward to returning and seeing everyone again.”

Premier League Summer Series coming to US. Will Christian Pulisic still be at Chelsea?

premier league tour

The English Premier League will hold a preseason tournament in the United States, which will be held in July and include six clubs taking part in games in East Coast cities, the league announced Tuesday .

While a number of top English clubs have held summer tours, this is the first time the league has staged a "tournament" in the U.S.

The Premier League Summer Series  will include a total of nine games between Saturday, July 22, and Sunday, July 30. Clubs confirmed to participate are Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea, Fulham and Newcastle United. Games will be held in Atlanta; Harrison, New Jersey; Orlando, Philadelphia; and Landover, Maryland.

"We are delighted to be bringing six clubs to the USA in July for the first-ever Premier League Summer Series," Premier League CEO Richard Masters said in a statement. "Our clubs have incredible supporters in the U.S., who passionately follow their teams throughout the season."

What is the Premier League Summer Series schedule?

Match 1: Chelsea vs. Brighton & Hove Albion, 7 p.m. ET

Sunday, July 23 - Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia

Match 2: Fulham vs. Brentford, 4 p.m. ET

Wednesday, July 26 - Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta

Will USMNT star Christian Pulisic still be with Chelsea?

Christian Pulisic, the 24-year-old standout for the U.S. men's national team , is under contract with Chelsea  through the 2023-24 Premier League season. However, a mass exodus of players — including Pulisic — is expected this summer, according to ESPN . Since an ownership group led by American Todd Boehly took over in May 2022, Chelsea has experienced a chaotic existence . The club added 18 new players at a cost of approximately $650 million. The club fired manager Thomas Tuchel, then brought in a new manager in Graham Potter  on a five-year contract , only to fire him after 31 matches. Former England national team and Premier League star Frank Lampard was appointed interim manager  in April.

All of that change has not helped on the pitch, as Chelsea — which won the UEFA Champions League just two years ago — currently sits in 11th place in the Premier League table.

With Chelsea going through three managers in four years, Pulisic has been unable to secure a consistent starting position with the club. The influx of new players recently means Chelsea will be looking to offload the USMNT star, as well as other notable players such as strikers Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Romelu Lukaku (who is on loan at Inter Milan), midfielder Mateo Kovacic and defender Kalidou Koulibaly.

Who are other USMNT players in Premier League Summer Series?

Pulisic isn't the only USMNT player who could be participating in the Premier League Summer Series. Fulham features American defenders Tim Ream and Antonee Robinson, each of whom played significant roles for the USMNT at the 2022 World Cup.

Busy summer of soccer in U.S.

The Premier League Summer Series will be competing for the American soccer fan's attention amid a number of competitions taking place this summer.

The women's World Cup kicks off on July 20, with the USWNT playing its first game on July 21 against Vietnam at 9 p.m. ET in Auckland, New Zealand.

On the heels of the completion of the CONCACAF Gold Cup on July 16, the Leagues Cup — a unique competition featuring every team in Major League Soccer and Mexico's Liga MX — kicks off on July 21 . The final of the Leagues Cup will be held on Aug. 19.

While the NWSL will be taking a break in regular-season play during the women's World Cup , the league will be hold some games for its in-season tournament — the Challenge Cup — in late July and early August.

In addition, Wrexham AFC  — the fifth-tier Welsh soccer club owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McIlhenney and subject of a popular documentary — will play a friendly against Manchester United  in San Diego on July 25.

The English Premier League’s summer tour will kick off in Philadelphia

Chelsea, Fulham, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Brentford and Brighton will all come to town to play at Lincoln Financial Field on July 22 and 23.

Hershey's Christian Pulisic (right) could play for Chelsea in Philadelphia this summer if he's still with the team.

Update: Tickets are now on sale. Click here for details on how to buy them.

The English Premier League is bringing a six-team exhibition tour to the United States in July, and Philadelphia will be one of its destinations.

Lincoln Financial Field will host all six teams over the weekend of July 22-23: Chelsea vs. Brighton, Fulham vs. Brentford, and Newcastle United vs. Aston Villa.

It will be the first major soccer event at the Linc since the U.S. women’s national team played there in August 2019 . And while the visitors will come from abroad, there will be at least one local angle: Philadelphia-based Comcast spends billions of dollars on Premier League broadcast rights, and its TV and streaming channels will show all the games.

If you were expecting a different local angle, that’s for good reason. Hershey’s Christian Pulisic , the biggest American men’s soccer star, plays for Chelsea. But with a new manager coming this summer and an overstuffed roster of big players, it’s widely expected that Pulisic at least will test the waters on leaving the Blues this summer .

» READ MORE: Christian Pulisic’s ‘fearless’ drive has made a kid from Hershey a World Cup star

So if you want to buy tickets when they go on sale April 25, don’t assume you’ll be able to watch Pulisic here.

Those six teams aren’t the only English teams coming over. Manchester United and Arsenal are too, but separate from this. United will play Rob McElhenney-owned Wrexham on July 25 in San Diego and Dortmund on July 30 in Las Vegas and probably has another game to announce.

Arsenal will be the MLS All-Star team’s opponent on July 19 in D.C., and it might set up other games while in the States.

What about Leeds United, featuring Medford’s Brenden Aaronson and fellow American stars Tyler Adams and Weston McKennie? They’d sell a boatload of tickets here, and the club, and the Premier League surely knows it — not least because the San Francisco 49ers have a big stake in Leeds’ ownership.

» READ MORE: From Leeds to Philadelphia, Brenden Aaronson’s first Premier League goal was big news

The answer is found in the standings. Leeds is in serious danger of relegation, currently safe by just two points with eight games to go. A whopping nine of the league’s 20 teams are in the relegation fight. If Leeds goes down, it wouldn’t be able to be part of a Premier League tour.

All six touring teams are in the top 11, led by third-place Newcastle. Chelsea is the worst of them, remarkably, in 11th place and far off its usual place among the title contenders.

The Athletic reported that Fulham came in for Leeds so the league could stop worrying about whether Leeds would stay up. Fulham has its own big-name Americans in Tim Ream and Antonee “Jedi” Robinson .

» READ MORE: Zack Steffen opens up about missing the World Cup and returning to the U.S. men’s soccer team last month

Chelsea still should easily sell the most tickets of any of the teams involved because it has the biggest fan base. Newcastle could attract the most attention, though, because its majority owner is Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund . The Saudi government has insisted it doesn’t control the team, but that is in dispute.

In the ongoing U.S. court case between the PGA Tour and Saudi-funded LIV Golf , lawyers for the PIF claimed sovereign immunity because the fund is “a sovereign instrumentality of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” and its chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan — who also chairs Newcastle United — is “a sitting minister of the government.”

That got the attention of not just the Premier League, which bars governments from direct roles in running its teams. When a PIF-led consortium bought Newcastle in 2021, Premier League chief executive Richard Masters told the BBC that if the league found the Saudi government to be involved in the team, “we can remove the consortium as owners of the club.”

It remains to be seen how the matter will play out.

The other venues for the Premier League’s tour will be Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium; Orlando’s Exploria Stadium; Harrison, N.J.’s Red Bull Arena; and Landover, Md.,’s FedEx Field.

Interestingly, the Union also have a home game on July 22, against Mexico’s Club Tijuana in the new Leagues Cup tournament between MLS and Liga MX teams. The kickoff time for that game has not been set yet. We’ll see if it is set to not overlap with Chelsea-Brighton, which likely will draw a bigger crowd than Subaru Park’s 18,500-seat capacity.

2023 Premier League summer tour schedule

Sunday, July 23: Fulham vs. Brentford (4 p.m.) and Newcastle United vs. Aston Villa (7 p.m.) in Philadelphia

Premier League finale as it happened: Man City beat Arsenal to title

The final day of the 2023-24 Premier League saw Manchester City win a historic fourth-straight league title, beating Arsenal to the championship by two points at the top of the table.

Elsewhere Tottenham Hotspur finished fifth above London rivals Chelsea to guarantee Europa League qualification, while Jürgen Klopp was given an emotional send-off at Anfield in his final game as Liverpool manager.

Manchester City parade celebrates record-breaking Premier League victory

  • Manchester City FC
  • Monday 27 May 2024 at 4:01pm

Sports Correspondent Mike Hall talks through Manchester City's fourth Premier League parade.

Manchester City celebrated a record-breaking fourth Premier League win in a row with a parade through Manchester city centre.

Saturday’s 2-1 FA Cup final loss to rivals Manchester United, combined with the customary Manchester weather, threatened to put a dampener on City’s trophy parade along Deansgate, although thousands of fans did turn out on Sunday evening as the players marked an unprecedented run of league success.

Fans lined the streets hoping to get a glimpse of the bus.

The supporters got to see the Premier League trophy as well as the Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup, but the one that was missing was clearly on Guardiola’s mind after he and his players missed out on a record-breaking double-double 24 hours earlier at Wembley.

“We will be back next season,” Guardiola said. “The FA Cup, we will take it.”

The weather and Saturday's FA Cup Final loss didn't dampen spirits

This is the sixth time Guardiola has led City to the Premier League title, but with one year left on his contract speculation has quickly turned as to how much longer the Catalan might stick around, having already spent much longer in Manchester than many expected.

“Even myself, I couldn’t expect to stay here eight years but everything goes well,” he said. “Step by step we are here. It looks routine but it’s not routine.”

But when asked if he would “please stay forever”, the 53-year-old could only laugh.

Having reached such heights before, City’s player of the season Phil Foden echoed his manager’s sentiment that he and his team-mates wanted to win even more next term.

“It’s been a special season,” the England star said.

“Obviously (four in a row) is something nobody else has done before. It’s an unbelievable feeling.

“There is a hunger inside me to win trophies and the other players want to win as well. We’re delighted with this season but next season we want to go again and win more.”

Erling Haaland made a foul-mouthed start to his own interview before saying he “can’t complain” after a season which brought a second straight Premier League Golden Boot, having scored 27 in the league and 38 in all competitions.

“It’s been lovely again and a fourth in a row, it’s amazing this club,” the Norwegian said. “I’m so proud of everybody and happy.

“There have been many good moments but when we knew we were going to win the league, I have to say (that was the best one).

“The support home and away has been unbelievable. I’m proud. What can I say?”

Just a few hours beforehand, the Great Manchester Run saw thousands of runners take to the city centre streets, with Deansgate also acting as the finish line.
