About NEEDTOBREATHE
Since 1998, NEEDTOBREATHE have quietly emerged as a dynamic force in rock music, topping the charts, selling out historic venues, and generating hundreds of millions of streams to date. The band have gathered one platinum single, four gold singles, and a gold album. Along the way, “Multiplied” notched their first GRAMMY® nomination. Simultaneously, they performed to sold out crowds at arenas and amphitheaters coast to coast. In addition to garnering two nods at the Billboard Music Awards, they’ve attracted acclaim from People, Rolling Stone, Forbes, and many more. In 2020, they sowed the seeds for rebirth with Out of Body. It bowed in the Top 5 of three Billboard charts and reeled in acclaim. Within weeks of its release, the quintet—Bear Rinehart [vocals, guitar], Seth Bolt [bass, vocals], Josh Lovelace [keys, vocals], Randall Harris [drums], and Tyler Burkum [guitar]—stole away to an old historic house in Columbia, TN where they lived together, ate together, laughed together, and recorded together for three weeks in the fall of 2020. They returned home with their eighth album and documentary Into The Mystery [Elektra Records]. It’s the kind of record that could only be made by a band who has been through it all and still has enough faith to keep encouraging one another. It’s NEEDTOBREATHE. The Stars Aligned In Charleston For OneRepublic

September 11, 2022
Charleston, SC
Credit One Stadium
Review by Joseph Hett
OneRepublic brought their “Never Ending Summer Tour” to Charleston, SC on Sunday night at the Credit One Stadium. On this very humid day, the threat of rain dissipated and clouds parted to make way for the stars.
A video of beach scenes and skylines were showcased on the screen at the back of the stage before OneRepublic came out and started “Kids.”
Members gracing the stage were Ryan Tedder (Lead vocals), Zach Filkins (Lead guitar), Drew Brown (Rhythm guitar), Eddie Fisher (Drums), Brent Kutzle (Bass guitar/cello), Brian Willett (Keyboards) and Ashley Clark (Violin).
With “Good Life,” Tedder changed the lyrics for a pop from the crowd with “To my friends in New York, I say hello / My friends in Charleston they don’t know.”
Tedder said, “Well, Charleston. How are y’all feeling? This is wild, man. We’ve been to South Carolina. This is the first time we’ve ever played Charleston – this is crazy. Took us way, way too long. One of my favorite cities too. So it doesn’t make any sense. But we’re happy to be here!” Tedder also noted that they were going to play 15 years worth of songs, mainly the hits.
Armed with an acoustic guitar, Tedder began “Stop and Star.” Towards the end, Tedder let the crowd sing-along. OneRepublic continued with “Rescue Me” from 2021’s “Human” album. “Secrets” began with a violin and cello intro. Tedder went behind the piano to tickle the ivories for “Love Runs Out.”
Tedder spoke about his ventures as a songwriter: “I’ve had a day job separate from being in this band. I’ve had a completely different job. And I’ve kept those two things very separated for 15 years. For God knows what reason, but I just have. I’ve been writing songs for hundreds of other artists at this point for about two decades.” He continued, “I’m going to play, with my band, eight number one songs in a row in the next 17 minutes. Sorry ahead of time they’re not OneRepublic songs, but I will promise you…you will probably know these songs. Forgive me. Okay?”
Tedder then showcased some of his impressive songwriting resume along with stories on how they came about. Those were “Halo” (Beyonce), “Bleeding Love” (Leona Lewis), “Burn” (Ellie Goulding), “Rumour Has It” (Adele), “Maps” (Maroon 5), “Love Somebody” (Maroon 5), “Beer Can’t Fix” (Thomas Rhett), “Thats What I Want” (Lil Nas X) and “Sucker” (Jonas Brothers).
Everyone knew what time it was when the screen showed a fighter jet fly across it. Tom Cruise was then featuring talking about how they needed a song for the beach scene in “Top Gun: Maverick.” The distinctive whistling started and kicked off “I Ain’t Worried.”
After an extended intro, “Apologize” kept the fans singing along. Near the end of the song, Tedder decided to do something unique: “Because the acoustics in this arena sound like they do in this tennis court…tennis court (chuckles), I want to try something real quick. In the next 90 seconds or less, we are going to make the largest four part harmony choir in the history of Charleston. And we are going to do it right now.”
Tedder gave thanks to Amy Allen and South Carolina natives NEEDTOBREATHE for supporting OneRepublic’s tour. Tedder noted that NEEDTOBREATHE almost sounds prerecorded since they sound so good. That is true – their one hour set really got everyone going. OneRepublic then took a jump into “I Lived.”
“If anyone has any battery left in their phone, let’s see some stars,” Tedder said. The stadium was soon illuminated with a galaxy of “stars” for “Counting Stars.” They closed the set with “If I Lose Myself.”
OneRepublic put on an amazing and must-see show. As their dates in the United States wind down, they will be hitting the road again later this year to tour overseas. Who would have known that a tennis stadium would have such good acoustics for a concert? Hopefully OneRepublic will visit Charleston again real soon.

OneRepublic have been dreaming up a reality much warmer and brighter than the one in front of them. On their latest single “West Coast,” the Ryan Tedder-fronted band escapes into the warmth of California, singing: “Sometimes you gotta run from a broken heart / Before I turn into a ghost, need a brand new start / Get myself headed to the coast, man, it ain’t that far / Yeah, they got sun in LA and some shinin’ stars.”
“West Coast” arrives with an aspirational music video directed by Tomás Whitmore, who helmed the visual for the band’s previous single “Run,” shared last year. The new visual finds Tedder fake cruising in a top-down Cadillac convertible, following a deep red line drawn on a map all the way up the coast. Tablet in hand, the singer gives forms to his over-the-top ideas to make them a reality, even throwing a space-themed dance party.

In 1991, a small group of people began a publication titled, The Special Events Directory. The premise was simple, deliver accurate, compiled information about the events industry. It was a revolutionary tool for event professionals such as event vendors, suppliers and service providers. It was over 800 pages of previously unavailable information that grew into a new industry and it was produced by Events Media for over 10 years.
The explosion of the Internet as the source of "instant" information was just beginning. After the early years of the printed version, the Special Events Directory evolved into an online presence under the name www.eventcrazy.com. In 1998, eventcrazy.com exploded onto the Internet "event" landscape. We took our existing data and created a simple, revolutionary and easy to navigate search system developed and created by our inhouse team. It was a breakthrough technology that could help people in the events industry such as vendors, suppliers and venues. But it also was the #1 source for just anyone looking for places to go and things to do all over the United States and Canada.
Along with our own site, Events Media, the parent company of eventcrazy.com began licensing our information to the major online players; Lycos, Google, The Weather Channel, Microsoft, Hilton Hotels, Accuweather, Synacor and many, many more. All of the movers and shakers at the infancy of the Internet were people that used the EventCrazy feed in their online sites.
Many things have happened in the evolution and changing landscape of the Internet. We are proud of what we have accomplished and of what we meant to the launch of the Internet for commercial purposes. We delivered a remarkable product for years and we were one of the firsts of the firsts. Our legacy speaks for itself. Our trailblazing ideas helped, in some small way, to change the event landscape by delivering instant results for people looking for something to do "NOW".
So now the time has come for us to have our own personal "events". It is time for all of us to reap the benefits of our hard work of the last 34 years. We sincerely thank all of our users as we announce our retirement. We are proud of what we began and of all the wonderful event experiences we navigated our users to visit for their enjoyment. About OneRepublic
OneRepublic is an American alternative rock band formed in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 2002. It consists of lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Tedder, guitarist Zach Filkins, guitarist Drew Brown, bassist and cellist Brent Kutzle, drummer Eddie Fisher and keyboardist Brian Willett. The band first achieved commercial success on Myspace as an unsigned act. In late 2002, after OneRepublic played shows throughout the Los Angeles area, several record labels approached the band with interest, but the band ultimately signed with Velvet Hammer, an imprint of Columbia Records. They made their first album with producer Greg Wells during the summer and fall of 2005 at his studio, Rocket Carousel, in Culver City, California. The album was originally scheduled for release on June 6, 2006, but the group was dropped by Columbia two months before the album came out. The lead single of that album, "Apologize", was released on April 30, 2006, on Myspace and received some recognition there, becoming number one on the Myspace charts.
In 2007, OneRepublic released their debut album, Dreaming Out Loud. Its lead single, "Apologize", was remixed by Timbaland, becoming a huge international success, reaching number one in sixteen countries and subsequently earning them a Grammy Award nomination. The second single, "Stop and Stare", mirrored its predecessor's success. The album was later certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The band's second album, Waking Up (2009), produced the singles "All the Right Moves", "Secrets", "Marchin On", and "Good Life", with the latter reaching the top ten of the US Billboard Hot 100.
OneRepublic's third album, Native (2013), became the band's first top ten album on the Billboard 200, and highest-charting album to date, charting at number four. The lead single, "If I Lose Myself", charted within the top ten in several countries, while the album's third single, "Counting Stars", became the band's most successful single in recent years, obtaining top-five placements in Australia, Canada, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, the U.S., and the UK. This marks their highest charting single in the United Kingdom to date. It has also peaked at number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, matching their highest peak of "Apologize" in 2007.
On October 7, 2016, OneRepublic released Oh My My, their fourth studio album, which featured a number of collaborators, including Cassius, Peter Gabriel, and Santigold. Preceded by the singles "Wherever I Go", released on May 13, 2016, and "Kids", released on August 12, 2016, it was recognized as a change in their sound in contrast to previous albums by both critics and the band itself. In 2017, the band released the singles "No Vacancy", "Truth to Power", "Stranger Things" with Kygo and "Rich Love" with Seeb. To date, the band has sold approximately over 16 million records worldwide.

OneRepublic is an American pop-rock band originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado (US). It formed in 2002 and has been active ever since. Originally achieving commercial success through MySpace, founding members Ryan Tedder and Zach Filkins formed the band and released its music online unsigned.
In 2003, OneRepublic traveled west and played shows around the Los Angeles, U.S., area.
OneRepublic added pianist Drew Brown, bassist/cellist Brent Kutzle, and drummer Eddie Fisher to the lineup while playing its initial live shows. After being approached by many labels, the band signed with Velvet Hammer (an imprint of Columbia records), whose roster now includes the likes of Coheed and Cambria, Deftones, and System of a Down.
Unlike other bands under the Velvet Hammer label, OneRepublic’s sound has seen more mainstream than alternative success. With collaborations with producers like Timbaland on what is arguably its biggest hit to date, “Apologize,” remixed and recorded in 2006 and featured on Timbaland’s album Shock Value, OneRepublic has safely secured itself quite a few popular rock music fans. The band was also dropped from Columbia’s label around this time and signed to Timbaland’s Mosley Music Group.
“Apologize” appeared again in 2007, this time in its original form on OneRepublic’s debut album, Dreaming Out Loud. The remixed version of the song had record radio plays in North America (it was played 10,394 times in just one week) and this play score was only beaten by the single “Bleeding Love” by Leona Lewis (which, was also co-written by OneRepublic frontman, Ryan Tedder). The other hit single from its platinum debut album is “Stop and Stare,” which saw almost equal success as the previous single.
OneRepublic’s second album, Waking Up, was released in 2009 and reached the top 10 on Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. Singles from this album included “All the Right Moves,” “Marchin On,” and “Good Life.”
In March of 2013, OneRepublic released Native, its third studio album and an official end to a hiatus that had lasted for three and a half years. Native hit number four on the Billboard 200 upon its debut, marking the band’s first time cracking the top 10 in the U.S. First-week sales exceeded 60,000, the best since Dreaming Out Loud.
The lead single from Native was “Feel Again.” Released on August 27, 2012, it climbed to number 36 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and later went platinum. The next single, “If I Lose Myself,” has been certified gold in both Australia and Italy. The next single, “Counting Stars,” exceeded all expectations by becoming the band’s biggest hit yet — it reached the top five in 14 countries and even hit number one in the UK and number two in the U.S. The accompanying music video has over 3.5 billion views on YouTube.
The tours after Native took OneRepublic across Europe, Oceania, North America, and Asia and featured co-headlining duties with acts like American Authors, Sara Bareilles, and The Script. 169 shows later, the band completed its biggest tour yet.
November 2014 saw photos from the band on Twitter with the caption “Hotel recording, Poland. Album 4.” Half a year later, Tedder announced that OneRepublic was heading in a new artistic direction. Since the band values innovation and never repeats the same sound twice, the new album would prove to be yet another surprise for fans.
The group announced in September 2015 that the next album would come early the next year. The wait was long — it wasn’t until May 12 that a new single called “Wherever I Go” dropped. The next single, “Kids,” came out on August 12, and the album called Oh My My came out October 7, 2016. Oh My My struck a chord with listeners, hitting number three on the U.S. Billboard 200 and becoming the highest-charting album in the band’s career to date.
Between 2017 and 2019, OneRepublic shifted its strategy in song releases. Lead singer Ryan Tedder wrote a candid post to fans, saying he was dealing with “crippling anxiety” and illness due to constant touring, promoting, and recording. He said the band would be releasing new music in the form of singles as opposed to traditional albums. In 2017, it released singles including “Born to Race,” “Rich Love,” “Truth to Power,” and “No Vacancy.”
It seemed that the love for music helped Tedder overcome his struggles — in September 2017, he announced the band had begun working on a fifth album. The band also featured on the song “Stranger Things” by Kygo, which came out in 2017. The next year, it opened for the Zac Brown Band on tour.
Its 2018 singles included “Start Again” (featuring Logic), “Connection,” and a cover of “White Christmas.” The lead single from the fifth album arrived on May 17, 2019 and was entitled “Rescue Me.” The subsequent singles, “Wanted” and “Somebody to Love,” preceded the announcement that the new album would be called Human and would come out in spring of 2020. After multiple delays, Human did finally come out in August of 2021.
Currently, the world awaits OneRepublic’s sixth studio album, which the band has teased with songs “Sunshine” and “West Coast.” Its singles were featured in Top Gun: Maverick and other films, building anticipation for what is sure to be a phenomenal release.
The band’s calendar currently includes concerts across multiple continents. Catch OneRepublic on tour to see one of the most exciting acts in rock today.
Live reviews
One Republic is such a great band! At Stadthalle here in Vienna, Ryan Tedder was the living proof that a tight touring schedule is BAD FOR YOU. He was clearly nursing a bad cold and spent the entire concert croaking his way through each song, running out of breath. Hitting the right notes was an exercise in semi-happy accidents and the more frustrated he got, the worse things were. From the beginning it was clear that the entire band would rather be anywhere else than on stage. Uninspired, tired and - almost in an effort to convince themselves - Ryan regurgitated the touring-phrases "Vienna - we love you!" and "Vienna is one of our top-five favourite places to play!" (replace "Vienna" with a city of your choice) with little conviction. They tried. Oh, they tried, but as the show went on, I only felt sorry for them, wishing them a long holiday in the Bahamas. Heavy touring is not for this band. If you wish to see them, make sure to catch them early on and preferably only after they have had at least a full week with no appearances anywhere else. And Ryan - please get some singing lessons to help you protect your voice in these conditions. There are techniques, you know. Singing should not sound laboured. 15 November 2014 you went far beyond laboured with your singing. "It's a wonderful world"? Not for a voice that is crying out for a rest.

One Republic was literally incredible - I was lucky enough to be right at the front, and it was so exhilarating. They started with a white sheet in front of the stage so no one could see what was going on, and when they started, all the lights went out except for one spotlight which lit up the silhouette of Ryan - who sang Light It Up a capella, until he reached the chorus when the music kicked in, the sheet dropped and all the lights came on, it was incredible.
You don't have to be massive fan to enjoy yourself, you'll find you know the words to at least a few of their songs, like Apologise, Good Life and Counting Stars. They cover all sorts, from the old ones everyone knows to the new ones which are just incredible, as well as a couple of really good covers which are often an improvised one off. If you are a fan of Imagine Dragons, Coldplay or anyone else similar then you will enjoy yourself at One Republic immensely. Not only do they put on an incredible show, with light up pianos, projector screens showing various clips, lightbulbs hanging from the ceiling, tonnes of confetti and incredible live music, you can't take your eyes of Ryan because his stage presence and talent is immense. Can't recommend these enough - no matter how much or how little you like them beforehand, you will come away a fan, guaranteed.
It's time to re-evaluate your priorities. Seeing OneRepublic live in concert should be at the top of your bucket list!
Ryan Tedder and his band are well known for winning over music listeners through the radio waves, but I promise seeing them in concert is an exciting experience you'll have to see to believe. Known for talkable lyrics, and incredible musical organization, OneRepublic will keep you dancing, singing, and moving for years after their memorable concerts.
Ryan likes to throw in some acoustic sets, and I often find that each concert has a variety of popular hits arranged for an acoustic gathering. He also likes to treat his audiences to covers because, as he recently put it, "I like to sing lyrics that I wished I wrote myself." You'll get to hear the story behind the music and be treated to a wide range of stunning vocals.
See OneRepublic live and soon you'll be counting stars!
OneRepublic is a great band and they showed this with a steady stream of their hits. Faves of the night included 'What You Wanted' and 'Secrets'. The "coffee shop" / small-band segment was really interesting and highlighted the tight playing of the group. Lead singer Ryan Tedder engaged the audience continually and made many references to the city and the Calgary Flames (hockey team) which, predictably, got the crowd excited. The covers were excellent and fun - 'Apologize' / 'Stay With Me' (Sam Smith); 'Budapest' (George Ezra); and, 'What a Wonderful World' (Louis Armstrong). An awesome night.
Also - I had heard that 'Kongos' had been opening for OneRepublic earlier in the tour and was totally bummed they weren't opening here but 'Lights' was really good. She really got the crowd going and has a great energy.
OneRepublic won my heart with some silly commentary. ("This is our second show of the tour. So when - not if, when - something goes wrong, please forgive us." "If you know the words, sing them. Because I will probably forget them." "I promised I'd never sing these songs I wrote because they weren't for OneRepublic. But it's been ten years, and I don't care about being cool, so let's do it. Cool is relative.") I was also especially happy to hear their cover of James Arthur's "Say You Won't Let Go" when James couldn't perform due to sickness. Overall, OneRepublic really related to me an individual level rather than as an all-star mega-huge performing band, and I appreciated that authenticity and silliness.
It was a very nice concert, but nothing more special than the album songs,,,, I had expected some more life entertainment, more show and disappointing was the performance of " if love runs out ". A lot of people left already before this song... I had the pleasure, I thought it would be a pleasure, to enter through VIP Premium, car near tot the Burg and drinks and food.. but to my disappointment, all te places to see the boys were occupied, and it was quit a distance to see them.. so I had to walk down, which was not a pleasure. Also the public was very quit and not interacting with the group.
So very reserved... I had expect more life! The performance was good, maybe to good to be a life concert...
OneRepublic, 11 November, Tallinn.
People were waiting and waiting after the warm-up band The Kongos perfomed. And 1R started to sing behind a huge sheet. Only their shadows were seen. And then boom and then the sheet came down and I just felt my heart cheer up. When the beat of "What you wanted" started, my whole body electrified. The way Ryan plays the piano and takes the high notes is just unbelievable. They had put some "estonish" things in the background and it was so heart warming. They even sang the song "Good life" with the word Estonia in there. It was a great show! I sang my heart out and it was just really spectacular.
Loved them so much! ♥
Oh my gosh! I waited 5 years to see OneRepublic live and wow was it worth the wait! These guys are absolutely amazing and sound even better live than they do on their CDs (if that’s even possible)! Ryan puts on such an amazing performance and whilst you are stood there at the end completely out of breath, with a sore throat and sweating, he’s still bouncing around on stage and giving it his all. The energy Ryan brings to the stage is unreal- he’s dancing to every song and still singing perfectly. These guys put on one of the best performances I’ve ever seen so if you are going to see anyone live in concert, make it these guys!!
We are devout fans of OneRepublic for years now. This was our 6th concert following them from California, to CO, NY, and OK. We paid enormous prices to be able to sit in the front row. OneRepublic never disappoints, however, compared to their other concerts, we were saddened that there were no encores, almost felt their performance was "phoned in". Seems like they are becoming more and more detached from their fans, not very interactive anymore. Almost robotic. In light of his recent struggles, it seems they can't shake the "burn out" from so much touring.
Praying that changes and doesn't leave a bad stain on their career.
Onerepublic gave an AMAZING concert. There are very few artists who can do what they did. Onerepublic took many of their own songs, played them in a completely different way ("Come Home" on guitar, "Good Life" as an edm-ish version), and they still sounded incredible, and the room full of singing fans definitely approved. Nearly every person there was on their feet for the entire concert- it was that energetic. Even some odd number of days later I still can't stop talking about this concert and how talented Onerepublic is. I already knew they were a great band but this really comfirmed that.
