Worth every penny!!! A beautiful boat and views, food was delicious and the crew was amazing! I can't wait to go experience it with more friends and family in every season!

Disappointing!! High price for poor service and terrible food. Expected better service given what is posted on the website. Instead, we arrived and had to get our own drinks (including water), the table wasn't set properly and we had to get our own forks (none at the table) the food was overcooked and terribly salty. Do not waste $80 a person (not including drinks) to go on this boat.

Hubby and I went here for a dinner date to celebrate our anniversary. We caught the tour bus from the Augusta Winery to the boat dock. It was a great price for a dinner and a cruise. We made the reservation online and we knew what the meal was. They don't have a menu other than for drinks, but it's a good system imo because it allows the chef to focus on one entree. Overall, to not be too wordy, our food was delicious, the service was awesome, and it was just a nice relaxing ride.

I'm rate this experience a 3 nice and simple If it's no more then 100 people on the boat it's just right. Not to big and not that fancy. Now I bet on the Hollidays it looks pretty die to the decor they would put up. We went as a group of 16 on this rainy day. It's a rain or shine event and no refunds, but you can reschedule. Our group chose the lunch cruise. We had the lunch which was a nice an simple salad with honey mustard dressing and a roll. Air flight. chicken with mash the chicken cut nicely but needed to be a little juicer. However the leek sauce served with it was needed. The simple dessert was given as a nice berry tart. Also, this place is not handicap accessible. So i guess this steep ramp you have to go down is okay? Nope not when you have parents with bad knees or in a wheelchair. Please go see for yourself before you book your ticket because if they say it is, then what I have in mind is a total different perspective.

just the muddy Mississippi river Im sure it's different when the sun is out

October, 2022 visit Great cruise - friendly staff, good food, fun on the river with friends - - - - - - - - We'd been wanting to enjoy a cruise on the Miss Augusta since we first heard of the announcement of the ship. My wonderful wife coordinated two of us couples enjoying a fine lunch cruise a couple weeks ago. - - - - - - - - Getting There We purchased our tickets online and followed the guidance to arrive at the Mount Pleasant Winery, where we boarded the motor coach to the Klondike Boat Dock (don't park at the dock; you can't board there - go to Mt. Pleasant). The motor coach drops you off a few steps from the boat ramp. - - - - - - - - Boarding The Saturday we floated was a beautiful day, before we received some much-needed rain. The Missouri River was low; approximately 9-10 feet; the Miss Augusta drafts about 5 feet, so we had plenty of clearance. Due to the low water level, the upper deck was almost even with the shoreline... which made for a slight downward incline of the plank, which provided no problem for boarding. - - - - - - - - All Have A View The Miss Augusta can apparently hold ~150 passengers, and as best we can tell every seat will have a view; some seats next to the window, others with clear views out the windows. - - - - - - - - Food The food... for this lunch cruise we enjoyed - Caesar salad - pork tenderloin with apple chutney and vegetables - whipped cheese cake for dessert all very well prepared - thank you, chef! Wine and other drinks are available at the bar for an additional cost... my wife and I enjoyed an Augusta Norton. Friends enjoyed a mixed drink and beer. - - - - - - - - The Scenery The cruise, at least this day, was downriver then back up. The scenery is so nice from the river, with the hillsides and the manmade dykes and rock jetties projecting into the river to control the water's flow. The Captain guided the ship so smoothly that we barely noticed the movement... the scenery nice glided past the windows. - - - - - - - - The upper deck is open to the sky, which is great for sightseeing. - - - - - - - - We had a great afternoon and are thankful for the Hoffmann Family and the crew for providing such a nice afternoon. We look forward to cruising again. Thank you, Miss Augusta crew! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The cruise was nice. Overall I recommend it and I would do it again but it would just be Hors d'oeuvres and drinks. We did the dinner cruise. Parked at Montelle winery in the overflow parking. The signage was good. It is the ambiance. My only issue was they opened the bar but couldn't buy appetizers. I think food + alcohol is a no brainer. Maybe a little charcuterie or bread and butter at the table (and better than the generic Hawaiian bread we had). Drinks were expensive but not extraordinary. Probably best to just buy a bottle of wine, you are getting MO wines and everything that implies. It's dinner time people are hungry, actually some people were downright hangry by the time they received food. There were a lot of people not pleased. The staff are phenomenal and they want you to have an amazing time. My review has nothing to do with them and everything to do with the quality of the meal. We went to Annie Gunn's afterwards. Just saying. It's fun, do it. But the food is Economy plus not business and yes I'm referring to airplane food. If you are going know this and plan accordingly!

My brother bought us this experience as my Christmas gift and it was SO awesome! We all met at Augusta Winery parking lot and rode the charter bus to the boat ramp (if that's the correct terminology). Once we arrived, we learned that Mother Nature wasn't on our side, as the river was super low and the boat was stuck in mud. We were bummed, however we were still able to experience the boat, drinks, good, and amazing company. We were given vouchers to come back and get the full experience, which was very much appreciated. Our table was near the window by the bar, and it was perfect for 5 people. We started out with drinks and we got a bottle of the Norton Reserve from Augusta Winery (love that they use locally sourced beverages-- it IS Augusta!). It's one of my favorite wines and I was so happy they had it! Food came next, and we started with a salad and roll, the salad was a good combo of flavors, loved the fried onions on top! Next we had the entree, which was salmon, prime rib, masked potatoes, and vegetables. Everything wAs INCREDIBLE! The prime rib was cooked perfectly and not overdone, and the salmon was flaky and flavorful. For dessert we had an apple caramel tart. I'm not a huge apple in dessert gal, but it was warm and gooey and I enjoyed it. After the ride there was time for music and mingling. They had a live DJ which was an awesome touch. During the meal, he played Christmas carols. After the meal, he played some dancing music, which some people really took to the next level. It was so fun and we're so excited to go back and use our vouchers!

Definitely recommend. Compared to other dinner cruises that I have done, this had thee best food. Tender and well seasoned roast beef with gravy. Really enjoyed the Caesar salad with egg. The drinks were tasty and the service was great. Nice scenic drive to/from boat ramp. Cruise scenery is ok for the area. Very nice for bird watching.

What an amazing party we were invited to last night! Not only was the ambiance terrific, the food and service could not have been better. The waitress and waiter were more than cordial and very pleasant to talk to. Our dishes were removed as soon as we finished eating - perfect timing. The taco bar was delicious. What a beautiful evening! Can't wait to go again!

This is a new experience for St.Charles County and sure it be a very popular attraction once it is moored in Augusta. The yacht is beautiful and staff is friendly and attentive making for a nice tour. We went on the lunch cruise and next time I will choose juts the cruise and purchase appetizers from the bar because they looked better than the lunch we received.Lunch wad tomato soup, sandwich or wrap, pasta salad and a cookie. They have 2 full bars and also offer bottles of wine from Augusta wineries. This is 2 hour event from boarding time until return to dock and once out in Augusta the scenery will make every cruise a wonderful experience.

Miss Augusta, a 105-foot Skipperliner yacht, departs from Klondike Park in Augusta, guiding passengers through Missouri wine country in style.

The luxury yacht has three stories, including two enclosed, climate-controlled levels and a sun deck, where you can enjoy the breeze, photograph fall foliage, search for bald eagles or watch the sunset.

“People hesitate to get on a boat in February, but, really, you can!” Molly Dempsey, marketing and customer events manager of Miss Augusta, says. “On nice days, guests head straight to the sun deck, though – they don’t even stop on the other levels.”

Miss Augusta, a luxury yacht, has two enclosed, climate-controlled levels as well as a sun deck.

Miss Augusta offers daily public cruises , which will give you a new perspective of the Missouri River. On the narrated sightseeing cruises, you’ll be treated to a first-class experience, but if you want to further indulge, look into the lunch or dinner cruises. The plated, three-course meals change with the season, but past highlights include spinach- and artichoke-stuffed chicken breast, beef tenderloin with béarnaise sauce, jumbo lump crab cakes and white Cheddar mashed potatoes.

Miss Augusta also offers a “more than hors d’oeuvres” cruise, which takes place at sunset and features a lighter menu of small plates.

The culinary team prepares all the food onboard, and the two full-service bars are stocked with wine from the Hoffmann Family of Companies wineries: Augusta Winery, Balducci Vineyards, Montelle Winery and Mount Pleasant Estates.

Miss Augusta offers public lunch and dinner cruises on the Missouri River.

Elegant yet relaxing, the cruises are a unique addition to your trip to Augusta, which became the country’s first American Viticultural Area (AVA) in 1980. An AVA recognizes and promotes distinct wine-making regions in the U.S.

Miss Augusta offers private charters , as well. Then, the vibe is what you make it. “We’ve hosted a variety of events, from fun company outings to formal affairs and large family reunions to intimate proposals,” Dempsey says. “We also have specialty cruises with themes for everyone – [think princess cruises for families, brunch cruises for friends and live music cruises for couples]. We have a fashion show cruise featuring apparel from the Augusta Clothing Company in the works, as well. Depending on how the holidays fall, I try to organize specialty cruises once a month.”

Miss Augusta, a luxury yacht, offers daily cruises on the Missouri River.

On each cruise, the captain decides the course, but don’t worry – he knows where to find the best views on any given day.

“This is a one-of-a-kind experience,” Dempsey says. “There isn’t another luxury yacht in the country that’s doing what we’re doing, and I love seeing passengers’ faces when they step onto the boat. Miss Augusta is a really beautiful venue, and our cruises are just fun.”

Daniel Boone and Rebecca

Kid Friendly, Can Accommodate Large Groups, Weddings, Historical, Guided and Self-guided Tours

St. Charles County Parks continues to bring history to life at The Historic Daniel Boone Home in Defiance! The National Register of Historic Places and is a popular attraction for guests of all ages to visit year-round.

Nestled upon the rolling hills of Missouri Historic Wine Country and overlooking the Femme Osage Valley, this beautiful setting represents life in the early 1800s and brings the legacy of Daniel Boone to life. Journey back to another time and relive the adventures, dangers, and joyous events of the famous American longhunter and pioneer, Daniel Boone. Visit the home where he lived in his last years and learn the history of this legendary folk hero.

The nearly 300 acre site includes the historic home, adjoining historic village grounds, and surrounding property. St. Charles County continues to operate the historic park as a tourist site. The village is comprised of 16 buildings that have been moved to the property from within 50 miles of the site. Each building dates back to the 1800s. The general store, schoolhouse and grist mill offer a peek into life on the Missouri frontier. Collectively, the buildings represent a pioneer village of that time period.

Guided tours of The Historic Daniel Boone Home are available during park hours. Groups of 10 or more wanting to tour the home should make a reservation at least two weeks in advance by calling the St. Charles County Parks and Recreation Department at 636-949-7535. Tours include a guided tour of three-level home. In addition to the Home tour, guests may request an extended tour of the property to view three to five buildings in the village at no extra cost. The village tour is dependent on staff availability. Village buildings typically are open only during special events

There is no admission fee to enter the park grounds or the village grounds. Guests may stop by any time during park hours to take a self-guided tour of the outside of the Boone Home and village buildings onsite.

While you’re visiting, don’t forget to stop by the gift shop and purchase a treasured memento to take home. And ask us about reserving the Old Peace Chapel and The Grand Pavilion for your wedding or next family event. The historic park also hosts a variety of events and school field trips throughout the year.

The mission of the Boone Home and village is to provide a center that fully integrates learning on all education levels; preserves and protects the historical structures, collections and natural resources that comprise the facility; and interprets the early American frontier experience in Missouri as exemplified by the Boone family and their contemporaries.

Journey the Augusta Wine Trail: America’s First AVA

Grapes for AVA

Self-Guided Tour

When our German settlers first arrived to this region in the 1800s, it reminded them of everything they loved about their homeland. The sweeping vistas of the Missouri River valley, the Osage Ridge with its tree-covered slopes.

These hard-scrabble few soon created a new way of life and an entire community centered on wine-growing and wine-making. Vineyards and cozy farmsteads began to line the bluffs. Wine took on the role as the center of the community.

The Augusta Wine Trail was created to celebrate our shared location in the Augusta AVA (American Viticultural Area), which was the first designed grape growing area in the country. The wines that come from this area are the centerpiece of what joins our four wineries together. And while wine is the centerpiece, what we create is the chance to preserve this tradition for generations to come.

Walnut Street Walking Tour (self-guided)

missouri river cruise augusta

History of Walnut St.

 Leonard Harold, a follower of Daniel Boone purchased 360 acres with an excellent boat landing form the government in 1821. A ferry started immediately, and the town quickly developed many businesses on Water Street, with steamboats docking frequently. However, the river moved away from the town in the 1870’s following several floods. Businesses and development then moved up to Walnut and other streets. Most of the buildings on Walnut Street were built in the mid to late 1800’s. The street was put on the National Register of Historic Sites because of its history and many Architectural features.

Augusta Wine Company – 5573 Walnut In the 1800’s nearly every farm and lot in town was planted with grapes. The Augusta Wine Hall, a cooperative, was built in 1868. Growers would deliver their grapes to be added to a common wine. The two-story deep hall held 1,000-gallon wine barrels in the late 1870’s the company was shipping 200,000 gallons a year.

Koch Furniture Store – 5567 Walnut Built in 1893, this was originally a liquor store. Later, furniture and lumber were sold here, and it was home to the volunteer fire department. Today it is home to the Edelweiss Guest House.

Gallery Augusta – 5558 Walnut In the 1880’s a butcher shop was located in this building. Most people butchered their own hogs in the winter, so only beef was butchered here. Later it became a Gas Station and since 1979 has been Gallery Augusta. (Open to the Public)

Cranberry Cottage – 5557 Walnut In 1860 Charles Loewenhaupt, a brick mason, built the first brick building in Augusta on a stone foundation with double doors and two rooms. This was the office of Dr. H.S. Clay. Today it houses a studio that makes Barn Quilts.

Dr. H.S. Clay House – 5549 Walnut Dr. Clay was one of the leading physicians in Missouri. His house, built in 1885, is a Queen Anne style, with a wrap-around porch, gabled roof, decorative shingles, and turned porch support posts. Today it is home to the HS Clay Bed and Breakfast.

Reserve Guest Cottage – 5548 Walnut This building, dating to 1888, is a brick covered with lap siding to keep it warmer.

Pitman Funeral Home – 5542 Walnut This building, constructed in the early 1900’s was originally the Bank of Augusta, which failed during the Great Depression of the 1930’s. The bank vault is still in the back room. Today it is home to a family owned funeral parlor.

Ebenezer United Church of Christ – 5543 Walnut Built in 1860, this brick building replaced a log church. The clock and bell tower, typical of German American churches, are noteworthy. The clock must be wound twice a week, and a hammer attached to the clock strikes the bell to tell the hours. The soft bricks were covered with stucco. You are welcome to join them for services.

Katie’s Coffee/Osthoff House – 5525 Walnut A frame house built in 1906, it has a gabled roof, dormers, and an awning-style porch with decorated posts and open scrollwork, typical of August’s frame houses. Today it is home to a coffee shop. (Open to the Public)

Lindenhof Bed & Breakfast – 296 Jackson Street A log and weatherboard house, it was finally completed around 1900 by the town blacksmith. The Town Blacksmith facility and wagon shop were located next door. Later it was the home and office of Dr. Herbert Schmidt. Patients entered at the door on the side. Today it is a bed and breakfast.

Augusta Emporium/Tiemann Store – 5585 Walnut The lower part was erected in 1864 and the rest in 1878. Th, flour, e store brought milk and racoon skins. The upper part of the store sold groceries consisting of canned goods, sugar, flour, coffee beans, cheese and crackers. No meat, eggs, milk or vegetables were sold. In the winter there were oranges, bananas and nuts in the shell. The lower two sections of the store sold bolts of cloth, crockery, fencing, stoves, boots and shoes, sewing machines and farm equipment.

Fritz Tiemann House – 5583 Walnut This was built by the owner of the store in 1880. It is L-shaped with entrances on both Green and Walnut Streets. There is an awning-style porch on Green Street and a 2-story porch on Walnut. Dentil decorations are located on the roof.

Kraft/Linnenbringer Home – 5524 Walnut This is a 1 ½ story Queen Anne style frame house built in 1906. It has a wrap-around porch and several gabled roof levels. The side entrance led to Dr. Kraft’s Office; the front entrance led to a hat shop. Its large wine cellar has 10” thick walls.

William Osthoff House – 5520 Walnut Built in 1915, this 2-story frame house is another Queen Anne style, with three dormer windows and decorative woodwork on the porch.

Hoffmann/Koch House – 5517 Walnut With three gabled dormers, this home was built in the late 1850’s. It has carved posts and a scroll work balustrade around the porch.

Old Post Office – 5516 Walnut The 4-room building from the 1880’s, with its unusual diagonal entrance, was the post office in the 1880’s. Double doors on Lower street are now closed, led to a doctor’s office. The interior is all finished in bead board.
