Taylor Swift Says Her First-Ever Concerts in Mexico on Eras Tour Were 'Unforgettable'

"Feeling so grateful for the memories we're making together on this tour," wrote Swift on social media after four shows at Foro Sol in Mexico City

Taylor Swift is holding onto the memories from her time in Mexico.

The Grammy-winning superstar performed her first-ever headlining concerts in the country over the weekend, selling out four shows at the 65,000-capacity Foro Sol in Mexico City, and she expressed appreciation for every fan who attended in a social media post on Monday.

"After years of wanting to play in Mexico City, just got to play 4 of the most unforgettable shows for the most beautiful and generous fans," wrote Swift, 33, alongside photos from the concerts.

"Feeling so grateful for the memories we’re making together on this tour," continued the "Karma" singer-songwriter. "TE AMO."

Swift's opening act, Sabrina Carpenter , also took to social media amid their Mexico City shows and praised the audiences. "you have been the most welcoming incredible crowds i can’t believe how lucky i am to play for u," she captioned photos from her performance.

The Eras Tour stops at Foro Sol marked Swift's first-ever proper headlining concert in Mexico, though she previously performed a brief 2011 set featuring "Love Story" and "Sparks Fly" on Royal Caribbean International's Allure of the Seas cruise ship, which was docked in Cozumel at the time.

Following the four Mexico City concerts, the Eras Tour pauses for over two months before resuming in November with shows in Argentina and Brazil. Then, Swift will take another few months off the road before playing shows across Asia, Australia, Europe and North America from February 2024 through November 2024.

Swift has a lot going on at the moment. In between legs of the Eras Tour, she'll release her fourth re-recorded album, 1989 (Taylor's Version) , on Oct. 27. She announced the project on stage as she  wrapped the U.S. leg of her Eras Tour  in Los Angeles on Aug. 9.

“Here we are on the last night of the  U.S. leg of the Eras tour  in the eighth month of the year on the ninth day. You might have noticed there are some new outfits in the show,” she told the crowd.

“There's something that I've been planning for a really, really, really ridiculously, embarrassingly long time, and instead of telling you about it, I think I'll just sort of show you," she said, unveiling the cover art and release date for  1989 (Taylor's Version)  on the big screen.

The “New Romantics” singer then took to  social media to share more information , noting how her fifth album “changed my life in countless ways” and that her new version was her “most FAVORITE re-record.”

Sabrina Carpenter

When Sabrina Carpenter first released Emails I Can’t Send in July 2022, nobody expected “Nonsense” to take on a life of its own in the way that it has. While flashier songs like “Fast Times” and “Because I Liked a Boy” got a lot of initial attention, it was “Nonsense” that grew into the set’s runaway hit — thanks, in no small part, to Carpenter’s hilarious improvised outros on her global Emails I Can’t Send Tour.

In essence, every night Carpenter performs “Nonsense,” she changes the lyrics of the outro on the fly. Sometimes she’s simply paying tribute to the city in which she’s performing — and, other times, she’s testing how far she can push the limits of sexually suggestive lyrics.

The original “Nonsense” outro reads: “This song catchier than chickenpox is/ I bet your house is where my other sock is/ Woke up this morning, thought I’d write a pop hit, ha-ha/ How quickly can you take your clothes off? Pop quiz.”

“Nonsense” peaked at No. 56 on the Billboard Hot 100 , her second career entry on the chart; the single also reached the top 10 on Pop Airplay (No. 10). Emails I Can’t Send debuted and peaked at No. 23, becoming the highest peaking and longest charting LP of her career.

Taylor Swift announced on June 2, 2023, that she would be bringing her record-breaking Eras Tour to Latin America, with Carpenter serving as her opener across the summer and fall in Mexico, Argentina and Brazil. She would also open Eras Tour shows in Australia and Singapore from Feb. 16-March 9, 2024.

Naturally, the singer-songwriter brought her “Nonsense” outro shenanigans to her first couple Eras Tour performances, and she’s already gifted fans with a number of hilarious renditions of the track. From Mexico to Singapore and beyond, here’s every “Nonsense” outro Sabrina Carpenter has performed on the Eras Tour so far:

Mexico City, Night 1

For the Aug. 24 Eras Tour show — the first of four consecutive nights at Mexico City’s Foro Sol stadium — Sabrina sang: “I only date him if he pays my rent-ay/ If you are a Swiftie, you’re mi gente/ Let me hear you make some noise DF.”

“He said where you at, I said ‘I’m busy’/ Sipping on tequila getting tipsy/ Con mis chicas in Mexico City,” the Disney alum quipped.

Mexico City, Night 3

“I’m full grown but I look like a niña/ Come put something big in my casita/ Mexico, I think you are bonita!”

Some fans heard a slightly more NSFW of this outro, replacing “casita” with “pusita.”

Buenos Aires, Night 1

“How to ride it, I can think of 5 ways/ My head goes so hard I’m giving migraines/ How loud do you get in Buenos Aires,” the “Feather” singer joked on opening night of the Eras Tour mini-residency in Argentina.

Buenos Aires, Night 2

For the second Buenos Aires Eras Tour show — which was postponed due to “truly chaotic” weather — Sabrina closed out “Nonsense” with, “He said, ‘What’s your name?’ I said ‘Sabrina’/ Saw that obelisco, said ‘que linda’/ Who’s the loudest here in Argentina?”

Buenos Aires, Night 3

For the final Buenos Aires Eras Tour show, Carpenter sang, “When I’m in the bedroom looking sexy/ He’s having a ball, he call me ‘Messi’/ Argentina, will you be my bestie?” — a nod to Argentine football icon Lionel Messi.

Rio de Janeiro, Night 1

For the first Rio de Janeiro Eras Tour stop, the “Feather” singer played on one of Brazil’s signature drinks: “Sipping on me like a caipirinha/ How to turn me on, boy, I can teach ya/ My new name is ipanema ‘Brina”

Rio de Janeiro, Night 2

The second Rio de Janeiro Eras Tour stop — which was staged at Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos like the other two dates — featured Carpenter singing, “It’s kinda small, but I don’t even care though/ Cupid must have hit me with an arrow/ ‘Cause I’m in love with Rio de Janeiro!”

Rio de Janeiro, Night 3

For the final Rio de Janeiro Eras Tour stop — which was rescheduled from its original Nov. 18 date to extreme heat — found the “Skin” singer joking, “Boy come over, this is not a drill/ He said, ‘Get on top,’ I said, ‘I will’/ Then he made me come… to Brazil!”

Melbourne, Night 1

For her first night on the Australian leg of the Eras Tour (Feb. 16), Sabrina Carpenter took the Aussies right into the deep end with the salacious “Nonsense” outro — and she also impressed some locals with her knowledge of the proper pronunciation of the city’s name.

“D-I-C-K I am good at spelling/ Tastes so good, I need a second helping/ Aren’t you glad I know how to say Melbourne,” she crooned.

Melbourne, Night 2

The “Nonsense” outros aren’t all raunchy! For her second night in Melbourne (Feb. 17), she poked fun at her relationship with alcohol.

“I don’t say ‘Hello,’ I say ‘G’day, mate!’/ I don’t make a bevvy, I’m a lightweight/ Melbourne, I just came, I saw, and I ate,” she sang.

Melbourne, Night 3

For her final night opening up for Taylor Swift at Melbourne Cricket Ground (Feb. 18), Sabrina Carpenter packed on the faux regret and hilariously relayed the process of leaving an old flame who couldn’t keep up in bed.

“Broke up ’cause the size was underwhelming/ Tried to give him pointers, wasn’t helping/ Maybe, I just need a boy from Melbourne,” she sang.

Sydney, Night 2

Although she was unable to perform her set the first night of the Eras Tour’s stint in Sydney (Feb. 23-26) due to the weather, Sabrina Carpenter was able to make it for Night 2 (Feb. 24). For that evening’s “Nonsense” outro, she opted to bring back the raunch.

“When you go down under, do you miss me?/ He’s so big, I felt it in my kidney/ Screamed so loud they heard it here in Sydney!” she joked.

Sydney, Night 3

For the third show in Sydney (Feb. 25), the singer chose to temper her sultry side with a nod to the thick, dark brown spread known as Vegemite.

“Yeah, he’s pretty cute but will our kids be? This country’s so big I hope it fit me/ I Vegemite be in love with you, Sydney,” she sang.

Sydney, Night 4

For her final night in Sydney’s Accor Stadium (Feb. 26), Carpenter delivered what just might be her funniest “Nonsense” outro yet — and it’s all thanks to her play on the Australian pronunciation of the word “no/nah,” which has been a long-running Internet meme.

“I can’t believe a plane can fly this far/ I met the cutest Aussie at the bar/ He said, ‘Are you from here?’ I said ‘Naur,'” she sang as the stadium went wild.

Singapore, Night 1

For her first night in Singapore’s National Stadium (Mar. 2), Sabrina played on how she prefers to keep herself, ahem, Down Under.

“Gardens by the Bay, I wanna go there / Then, I’ll take you somewhere that has no hair / Singapore you’re so perfect, it’s no fair,” she winkingly crooned.

Singapore, Night 2

Singapore Night 2 brought along both a reference to the gorgeous Jewel Changi — an entertainment and retail complex that features an enormous waterfall structure — and a sweet reaction from Carpenter’s Oscar-nominated beau Barry Keoghan. The Saltburn actor cheered as she sang:

“He said that he wishes he was on me / Got me wetter than the Jewel Changi / Singapore, I hope you like my songy!”

Singapore, Night 3

For her third consecutive night at Singapore’s National Stadium (March 4), Sabrina had to tweet a clarification after the show because some fans misheard her one of freestyle lyrics as “almond” instead of “omelette.”

“This crowd ate me up like I’m an omelette/ I swear I’m coming back here, that’s a promise/ You cleared all my Singa-pores, I’m flawless,” she sang.

For Night 4 of the Eras Tour’s stint at Singapore’s National Stadium, Sabrina doubled down on her penchant for innuendo.

Mexican fans welcome Taylor Swift to her Latin American era

A fan watches Taylor Swift performs during the "The Eras Tour" in Mexico City, on August 24, 2023.

Taylor Swift began the international leg of her "Eras Tour" in Mexico City this weekend, with an enthusiastic welcome from fans who embraced the singer’s arrival in a uniquely Latino way.

Mexican fans personalized the elements that made the tour such a sensation in the U.S. — exchanging friendship bracelets, standing in hourslong merchandise lines and spotting local celebrities in the crowd — and got a few Spanish-language nods from Swift herself.

"After years of wanting to play in Mexico City, just got to play 4 of the most unforgettable shows for the most beautiful and generous fans," Swift wrote on Instagram on Monday. "Feeling so grateful for the memories we're making together on this tour ... TE AMO," she added, using a Mexican flag emoji.

Videos on social media show friendship bracelets customized with inscriptions like “Taynochtitlan,” a play on the name of the former capital of the Aztec Empire, “Taymalez,” and “ Teylor Suif ,” among other Spanish-language puns. Even Supreme Court Justice Arturo Zaldívar was seen exchanging bracelets with fellow fans.

And in one video ahead of the show, a fan is seen leaving a friendship bracelet at a statue of Tlaloc, the Aztec god of rain and lightning, so the singer would be spared bad weather.

At one of the sold-out shows at Foro Sol, one of Mexico's largest venues, Swift was recorded appearing to say “Te amo,” Spanish for “I love you,” to a young fan. In another clip, she hands the mic to one of her backup dancers, who replaces part of the lyrics to “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” with, “Like, nunca!”

In another video , fans can be heard chanting, “Taylor hermana ya eres Mexicana” (Taylor sister you’re already Mexican).

Outside Foro Sol, an unofficial “merch market” sold posters of Swift as the Virgin Mary as well as T-shirts and sweatshirts displaying the singer in her many musical facets. Fans following the show online praised the creative designs and lively spirit of the market.

Kevin Thébar, a fan who attended two of the Mexico City shows, said getting to witness the Eras Tour marked a "before and after" in his life.

"Not just in my life, but the life of all the fans who waited more than 10 years and all those new fans who had the chance to see and listen to her entire musical career in one concert," Thébar said in a message to NBC News in Spanish. "Beyond that, the fact that she brought her entire production is a huge step in how concerts are done in Mexico."

The Eras Tour, which concluded the first part of its U.S. run this month, has drawn unprecedented demand from fans around the world . Swift will continue her Latin American tour dates in November with nine shows across Argentina and Brazil .

Taylor Swift smiles from the stage.

After months of touring exclusively in the U.S., Taylor Swift is leaving her home country.

Starting Thursday, Aug. 24, the 12-time Grammy winner is taking her renowned ‘Eras Tour’ to Mexico City, MX’s Foro Sol for four huge concerts.

And it isn’t too late to pick up your boletos.

As of now, last-minute tickets are available for the quartet of gigs with special guest Sabrina Carpenter.

However, just like her U.S. shows, tickets aren’t exactly cheap .

At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find on tickets was $672 USD before fees on Vivid Seats.

There is a silver lining though —  based on our findings , prices may drop as we get closer to the show date.

Want a closer look at the first stop on the long international leg of the ‘Eras Tour?’

We’ve got everything you need to know and more below.

All prices listed above are subject to fluctuation.

Taylor Swift Foro Sol schedule

A complete breakdown of all the best prices on seats for each of Taylor’s quartet of Mexico gigs can be found here:

(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are in US dollars, subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

Taylor Swift 2023 ‘Eras Tour’ schedule

If ticket prices to see Taylor in Mexico don’t make sense for your budget, it might be in your best interest to see the ‘Eras Tour’ at a later date.

After this four-show weekend, Swift has 72 concerts remaining on her international schedule.

You can find a complete calendar of all remaining ‘Eras Tour’ dates here .

Plus, as an added bonus, we a)  shared some helpful tips from a Swiftie  who made it out to to see Taylor way back on the first weekend of the tour and b)  came up with a list of all the most exciting fan trends .

Taylor Swift opening acts

At all four shows in Mexico City, Swift will be joined by special guest Sabrina Carpenter.

Carpenter, 24, isn’t just a singer though. Over the past decade, she’s also starred in the Disney Channel’s “Girl Meets World” and the feature film “The Hate U Give.”

if you’re more interested in her music, we recommend you check out her biggest singles  “On My Way,”  “Nonsense”  and  “Thumbs.”

Prefer something a bit more long-form?

You can find her 2023 album “emails i cant send fwd:”  right here .

Huge stars on tour in 2023

Although it will cost an arm and a leg (maybe more!) to see Swift live this year, there are much more affordable concerts you can attend this year.

Here are just five of our favorite artists you won’t want to miss live.

•  Madonna

•  Adele

•  SZA

•  Pink

Taylor Swift: Which Eras Tour Songs Didn’t Make Concert Film & Which Surprise Songs Got In

Every show on the Eras Tour involves an acoustic set where Swift performs at least two songs custom to that night’s show. At first, she wouldn’t allow herself repeats unless she messed up the lyrics to a song, but now, she has done away with that rule and gotten more creative by combining songs in mashups and playing up to four in a segment. The first song or three take place on guitar, and then she shifts to piano for the second half before diving beneath the stage to resume the setlist – which has since contracted and expanded to include a  Tortured Poets Department  era and set .

Below you’ll find Taylor Swift’s surprise songs that she has played most recently in Europe as well as a record of all those she has played on the entire tour so far.

Taylor Swift to end record-breaking Eras Tour in December, singer announces

mexico city eras tour reddit

Sorry Swifties, Taylor Swift will not extend her record-breaking, behemoth Eras Tour to 2025.

"This is the very first time I’ve ever acknowledged to myself and admitted that this tour is going to end in December," the singer said sentimentally during her "All Too Well" speech before the 10-minute song.

"This tour has really become my entire life, it's taken over everything, like I think I once had hobbies," she joked in her bedazzled red and black jacket. "All I do when I'm not on stage is sit at home and try to think of clever acoustic song mashups and think about what you might want to hear."

Her acoustic section has become a fan-favorite, unique to every city. The singer began mashing up songs in 2024. Swift still has about 30 songs in her vast discography left to perform.

"You have done so much to be with us," she continued. "You've made plans so far in advance. You planned what you were going to wear. You memorized lyrics. You got yourself here. You figured out parking. You figured out transportation, and I want spend the 100th show just thinking about that and living in that moment and being here with you, and just know I appreciate every single ounce of effort that you put in to be with us when this show reaches triple digits in shows. So thank you!"

A show that 'spans 18 years of music'

In November 2022, Taylor Swift announced her magnum opus on social media , "I’m enchanted to announce my next tour: Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour, a journey through the musical eras of my career (past and present!) The first leg of the tour will be in stadiums across the US, with international dates to be announced as soon as we can!"

The original post only showed 27 concerts over the course of a year. The demand quickly escalated that number to 66 shows for year one and 86 for year two in 22 countries (U.S., Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Japan, Australia, Singapore, France, Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland, Austria and Canada).

With album announcements , music video reveals, special guests appearances and a whole new "Tortured Poets" set unveiled in Paris, France, the tour has continued to evolve and impress. Swift has broken attendance records for many stadiums across the world and countries have welcomed the singer in innovative ways. A hidden language of Swift-ese has developed in the form of friendship bracelets, custom concert chants ("1, 2, 3 let's go b****" and "Where you going Taylor?") and unforgettable dance moves. Tens of thousands of fans log on to watch livestreams every concert night anticipating Swift's outfits and custom mashups of songs not included in the massive 46-song set list .

More: A year of the Eras Tour: A look back at Taylor Swift's record-breaking show

Swift's concert movie bypassed production studios as the singer worked directly with AMC as a distributor bringing fans dancing and singing in the aisles. The movie is available to watch on Disney+ .

No word on if she will release a second movie with the newly scrambled show and additional set.

Swift is only a third of the way through her 51 European stops. In the fall, she will come back to North America, heading to Miami, New Orleans and Indianapolis in October and November and then Canada. Her last show for 2024 is on Dec. 8 in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Taylor Swift Stopping Show to Sing to Help Fan in Distress Proves She's a Suburban Legend

Taylor Swift  is looking out for her fans.

While performing an Eras tour concert at Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, Scotland June 7, the Grammy winner stopped performing her Midnights  album track "Would've Could've Should've" to help an audience member who appeared to be in distress. She did however, continue to sing and play her guitar while asking for assistance.

"We need help right in front of me, please, right in front of me," the 34-year-old sang to the more than 70,000 fans, as seen in a video shared by one of them. "Gonna keep playing until we notice where it is. Right there. I'm just gonna keep playing 'til somebody helps them, then I'm gonna keep singing the song."

Swift continued, "I don't think anybody's gotten to them yet, and they're gonna. Because we're not gonna keep singing, we're just gonna keep talking about the people that need help in front of me. Just let me know when. I can do this all night."

She then said, "OK, you're good? Awesome!" before performing the rest of "Would've Could've Should've."

‘You're on Your Own, Kid’ lyrics meaning: About Taylor Swift's most played surprise song

Taylor Swift / Fans of Taylor Swift display friendship bracelets

The setlist for Taylor Swift's "Eras Tour" is constantly analyzed , but there are some things that can't be predicted. On each stop, Swift drops in a few surprise songs during an acoustic set.

With seven plays and counting, “You’re On Your Own, Kid" has been the most-played surprise song so far. Most recently, she played it in Lyon, France, on June 2. Previously, she sang it in Lisbon, Singapore, Tokyo, Mexico City, Los Angeles and Tampa.

When she first performed the fan-favorite track in Tampa in April 2023, she explained that she would try not to repeat surprise songs — except for the ones off "Midnights" (which includes "You're On Your Own, Kid"). At the time, "Midnights" was her newest album.

"You're On Your Own, Kid" is also why friendship bracelets have become a hallmark of the "Eras Tour." Fans proudly hold up their wrists as Swift sings, “So make the friendship bracelets/ Take the moment and taste it/ You’ve got no reason to be afraid.”

But why is this song so resonant? Here's what "You're on Your Own, Kid" is about.

What’s ‘Your on Your Own, Kid’ about?

The lyrics follow the speaker's progression from innocence to experience. Essentially, it's a story of growing up — and learning how not to be a kid anymore. While it seemingly touches on celebrity and the price of fame, the ideas are universal.

The start of the song describes a naive girl with a hopeless crush, a theme that can be found throughout Swift’s early albums. “I wait patiently/ He’s gonna notice me/ It’s OK, we’re the best of friends," she sings.

She dreams of "escape" and figures out how she's going to do it: with her songwriting. "Writing in my room/ I play my songs in the parking lot/ I’ll run away," she sings.

As the song progresses and moves out of the small-town setting, her naivety is replaced by anger. She appears to describe the choices and sacrifices she made on her way to fame in the music industry.

“I gave my blood, sweat, and tears for this / I hosted parties and starved my body / Like I’d be saved by a perfect kiss / The jokes weren’t funny, I took the money,” she sings.

As she spent the first part of her career trying to be perfect, the rest of the world ridiculed her body and dating life. “I search the party of better bodies / Just to learn that my dreams aren’t rare,” she sings.

Later on, in a callback to the beginning, Swift also comes to the realization that the “perfect kiss” coming to save her is never going to happen.

She ends the chorus by singing, “You’re on your own, kid / You always have been.” Through every rumor, breakup and era , she has come out alone — but also responsible for her success.

What got her to this feeling of solitude? The lyrics touch on the loss that accompanies her climb to the top: “Everything you lose is a step you take.”

It's turned her into a different, harder person, one that her friends back home don't recognize. "I looked around in a blood-soaked gown / And I saw something they can’t take away," she sings.

Swift has said she uses songs to speak about her personal life, so it's not a stretch to think the song is about her. "I don’t talk about my personal life in great detail. I write about it in my songs, and I feel like you can share enough about your life in your music to let people know what you’re going through," she said in a Glamour interview.

“YOYOK” could be read as a biographical account of Swift’s rise to fame, or any celebrity’s. But the themes of leaving home, experiencing loss and getting tough are universal.

The song ends with the more hopeful lines, "You have no reason to be afraid" and, "You can face this." With this bittersweet note, Swift seems say that maybe learning to be happy on your own is an important part of being a person.

Read the lyrics to ‘You’re On Your Own, Kid’

Summer went away

Still the yearning stays

I play it cool with the best of them

I wait patiently

He’s gonna notice me

It’s OK, we’re the best of friends

I hear it in your voice

You’re smoking with your boys

I touch my phone as if it’s your face

I didn’t choose this town

I dream of getting out

There’s just one who could make me stay

All my days

From sprinkler splashes to fireplace ashes

I waited ages to see you there

I search the party of better bodies

Just to learn that you never cared

You’re on your own, kid

You always have been

I see the great escape

So long, Daisy May

I picked the petals, he loves me not

Something different bloomed

Writing in my room

I play my songs in the parking lot

I’ll run away

I called a taxi to take me there

Just to learn that my dreams aren’t rare

I gave my blood, sweat and tears for this

I hosted parties and starved my body

Like I’d be saved by a perfect kiss

The jokes weren’t funny, I took the money

My friends from home don’t know what to say

I looked around in a blood-soaked gown

And I saw something they can’t take away

‘Cause there were pages turned with the bridges burned

Everything you lose is a step you take

So make the friendship bracelets

Take the moment and taste it

You’ve got no reason to be afraid

Yeah, you can face this
