Liam Gallagher Announces Summer 2024 Tour Where He Will Perform Oasis' Debut Album 'Definitely Maybe'

The former Oasis singer will perform the album in full in honor of its 30th anniversary

Liam Gallagher will definitely be bringing back an old favorite.

In an Instagram post , the British singer-songwriter, 51, announced the Definitely Maybe 30 Years Tour — a small 2024 string of shows where Gallagher will perform Oasis' former band’s debut LP, Definitely Maybe .

"I'm bouncing around the house to announce the Definitely Maybe Tour. The most important album of the ‘90s bar none. I wouldn't be anywhere without it and neither would you, so let’s celebrate together LG x," he wrote alongside a tour poster.

The tour is set to launch June 2 in Sheffield and will run through June 27, where it concludes in Manchester.

Liam will also be visiting cities including London, Dublin and Glasgow, Scotland, along the way.

In the post, he revealed that tickets for the tour will go on sale Oct. 20 on Friday, 9 a.m. BST.

Next year's tour will be the first time the "Wall of Glass" musician performed Definitely Maybe since the band split in 2009.

Definitely Maybe , which was released in 1994, solidified Oasis as one of Britpop's biggest stars, producing longtime favorite tracks like "Supersonic," "Live Forever" and "Slide Away.

At the time, it was the fastest-selling debut album in the U.K. ever, and it sold 8.5 million copies worldwide.

Though it seems unlikely Liam's brother and Oasis bandmate Noel will be joining him for any of the dates, but in May, Noel, 56, spoke with SPIN about the prospect of performing the band's debut album.

“If Liam wants to do the show, great. He’s got to make a living and all of that,” he told the outlet. “Keep the flame alive. It’s not something I particularly would be able to put my heart and soul into.”

As Liam told fans who inquired about Noel on X Tuesday, "He’s been asked and he’s refused."

Saw Liam in 2019 at MANC. What an awesome night - got on the front row which meant I had to stay in position for approx 4hrs before he came on - God was it worth it! Almost pissed myself but to get that close to a living legend i would have pissed myself!

Can I just say; what's all this bollocks about crowd interaction - Liam says the odd thing but that's not his style. I don't go to see LG to hear him talk bollocks to the crowd, I go to see him belt out LG tunes! Rock n Roll! These muppets saying he wasn't that good because he didn't interact with the crowd need to get a few more beers down them and just enjoy themselves. Love LG best performer in the world!

Liam Gallaghers As You Were concert at Birmingham Arena was amazing. Such a great atmosphere and excellent performance by Mr Gallagher who always knows how to get the crowd going. His vocals were spot on too. His prank of saying it was the last song which meant a few people left only for him to come back on and sing Wonderwall was class as everyone stood and sang along to it. I knew he was prancing there was no way he wasn’t going to sing wonderwall and his true fans knew that

The venue was good and security checks were also good. As a performance Liam chose a good set list but I was disappointed to see so many people smoking in the venue especially when it’s indoors. My daughter is a big fan so she was with me, she enjoyed all the songs, as a performer he’s not as entertaining as a lot of bands I’ve seen and doesn’t really interact with the crowd as much as others either.

I probably wouldn’t see him again to be honest.

Liam put on an outstanding show in Cardiffs motorpoint arena .the atmosphere was pure electric opening with an oasis classic which set the tone for a rousing set that had everyone bouncing with a great mix of oasis faves and new solo tracks that sounded great live .one of best gigs iv been to. Totally blown away

Great gig till he left abruptly without a good night or encore. Many of us stood there waiting for word it was actually done. Strangest ending to a concert I've seen.

I should add that I spent almost as long as Liam was on stage getting out of the parking lot. LAST time at Rebel. Ghastly experience.

Huntergonzo’s profile image

Loved Liam's show in Amsterdam, amazing energy from this guy. The drunk Brits on the dancefloor were a pain, though. Whoever invented the practice of hurling half-full plastic cups of beer over the crowd?

If you don't fancy getting completely drenched, consider proper seats for Liam's shows.

11/10 absolutely biblical. I go to concerts quite regularly but I have never experienced something quite like that. The atmosphere was incredible and Liams live vocals were very impressive. Set list was also perfect. Definitely the best night of my life so far, can’t stop thinking about it.

Recently, Richard Ashcroft  hit back  at  Noel Gallagher  over his claim that he has an “an army of songwriters” writing his music.

In a recent interview, Noel named several artists he believed to benefit from songwriting teams, listing: “Richard Ashcroft, our kid (Liam Gallagher), all the way to fucking  Ed Sheeran  and the little fella from  One Direction , they’ve all got an army of songwriters behind them.”

Responding to Noel’s comments on Twitter, Ashcroft fired back: “I don’t write my own songs? You want to qualify that NG”.

Liam Gallagher Announces 2018 North American Tour

Former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher is returning to North America this spring to continue promoting last year's As You Were , his first-ever solo album.

He's announced a handful of shows in major markets that will begin at the Masonic Auditorium in San Francisco on May 10 and end at the Lincoln Theatre in Washington, D.C., eight days later.

Gallagher's opening act on all dates, except for the last, will be Richard Ashcroft, the ex- Verve frontman who put out a solo record, These People , in 2016. You can see the list of shows below.

Tickets for all dates go on sale Friday at 10AM local time. You can get full details, including pre-sale information, at Gallagher's website .

Back in November, a month after the release of As You Were , Gallagher played nine shows in two and a half weeks in North America. He also did a high-profile set at Lollapalooza that ended after 20 minutes due to problems with his voice. Gallagher blamed it on the previous night's concert at one of the festival's pre-parties.

Since then, he's continued to make headlines for his ongoing feud with his brother and former Oasis bandmate  Noel . As Christmas approached, Liam claimed that there had been a truce between the siblings and that they were planning to spend the holidays together. But he later admitted that he had made it all up in the hopes that it would lead to a reopening of communication between the fighting pair. When it didn't pan out as he had hoped, he went back to slagging him off in public, even as going as far as claiming that Noel was worse than Donald Trump .

Liam Gallagher 2018 North American Tour 5/10 – San Francisco, CA @ Masonic Auditorium 5/11 – Los Angeles, CA @ Greek Theatre 5/13 – Toronto, ON @ Sony Centre for the Performing Arts 5/14 – Boston, MA @ Blue Hills Bank Pavilion 5/16 – New York, NY @ Central Park Summer Stage 5/17 – Philadelphia, PA @ Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing 5/18 – Washington, DC @ Lincoln Theatre

I recall a big sound rolling out from the stage as they played while the audience — or crowd, to put it less politely — surged forward in response. It was as though two massive energies had been unleashed.

Since then, much water has flowed under the bridge. Oasis are no more, having split up in 2009. The brotherly rancour for which Liam and Noel Gallagher were becoming renowned in 1994 — in one interview, Liam looked forward to the day when he could smash Noel’s Rickenbacker guitar into his brother’s nose — had curdled into loathing. The end came after Liam allegedly smashed one of Noel’s guitars for real. A Gibson, not a Rickenbacker, and against the ground — but still. The wreckage of their relationship has never been repaired.

And so Liam is celebrating Definitely Maybe ’s 30th anniversary with a solo tour. Rumours of a reunion with Noel wax and wane, but the actual event remains elusive. For Oasis fans, it is like being trapped in a Britpop remix of Waiting for Godot . The younger Gallagher is frustrated, too. At his Cardiff date, he dedicated “Half the World Away”, a Noel-sung song, to “my little brother, who is still playing hard to get”. Noel, of course, is his big brother: the jibe was like an itch that can’t be scratched.

A packed O2 Arena awaited the chippy younger sibling in London for the first of four nights at the 20,000-capacity venue. A cheer went up as the numerals 94 appeared on the background screen. The setlist was drawn from Definitely Maybe and other songs from the era. No fewer than three guitarists accompanied the singer, alongside a bassist, drummer and keyboardist. There were occasional appearances from a string trio, mostly inaudible. Three backing singers did the falsetto parts in “Live Forever”, from which Gallagher absented himself.

He is 51 now. High notes aside (of which there are hardly any in the Oasis canon), the voice of “Cigarettes and Alcohol” is in surprisingly good shape. His posture at the microphone stand was the same as 30 years ago, head angled up, hands behind his back or curtly shaking maracas, top lip curled in a belligerent sneer. The football-terrace outfit of parka and white trainers was the same too. A vape was the only sign of modernisation, puffed during sit-downs in songs when the instrumentalists took over.

Definitely Maybe ’s first track, “Rock ’n’ Roll Star”, was the opener, announced by a guitar whine that swelled into a jumbo-jet roar. The album’s chin-up swagger has aged well, partly for the antique reason that no one makes ’em like this any more. A masculine rumble accompanied Gallagher as thousands of finger-jabbing fans sang along. His stillness at the mic belied the effort that he put into it his vocals, an intense, needling tone for let’s-have-it songs about sunshine and white lines. But the energy levels proceeded to sag.

Rather than play the album straight through, Gallagher chose to scatter B-sides and other odds and sods among its tracks. “Half the World Away” was a highlight, an acoustic-rock shift in pace with a tender vocal turn. (Gallagher’s introduction to the song, crediting it to Burt Bacharach, “one of the greatest songwriters ever”, was less tender: Noel has admitted copying Bacharach when he wrote it.) Meanwhile, B-sides such as “Cloudburst” and “I Will Believe” showed why they weren’t picked as A-sides.

Gallagher threw himself into these lumbering things, and grew testy at the lack of response (“Is this London or fucking Antarctica?”). It took “Cigarettes and Alcohol” to flick the switch, deep into the set. The song was markedly more lively than the others, with guitars piling in on each other rather than forming an undifferentiated blare. The arena was transformed into a mass of roiling bodies, a brief throwback to that Glastonbury set all those years ago.

“Thanks for turning up halfway through, means a lot,” the singer snarled sarcastically. But the flatter moments in the setlist were the real culprit. The concept was also flawed. Nostalgia for Oasis is huge, but it needs Noel by Liam’s side to be properly tapped. In that respect, the younger Gallagher’s solo tribute to a classic album about seizing the moment was really an exercise in filling time.

Liam Gallagher announces North American tour

He'll play nine shows in the US and Canada in November.

Liam Gallagher has revealed details of his first North American solo tour.

The former Oasis frontman is due to play his first ever North American solo show in August, at a festival in Canada.

Now he has announced nine headline dates in the US and Canada for November, around a month after he releases debut solo album ‘As You Were’. Check out the full tour dates below.

13 November – San Francisco, CA – Warfield 18 November – Denver, CO – Gothic 20 November – Minneapolis, MN – First Avenue 21 November – Chicago, IL – The Riviera 23 November – Toronto, Ontario – Rebel 25 November – Boston, MA – House of Blues 27 November – New York, NY – Terminal 5 29 November – Washington, DC – Lincoln Theatre 30 November – Philadelphia, PA – Union Transfer

In the last 24 hours, Gallagher has also shared his album’s artwork , and confirmed its release date and collaborators .

Liam’s album will arrive a month before brother  Noel’s new album is slated for release. He recently discussed his potential chart battle with his older sibling.

“I’m sure he definitely knows that I’m fucking gonna come again, without a doubt,” Liam said in an interview with Q Magazine . “Course he’s fucking arsed. He plays it like he don’t give a fuck.”

Asked about the closeness of the two albums’ release dates, Liam replied: “Oh I’m all for it. Listen, I’ll go toe to toe with any cunt. If that becomes a fucking circus, then there’s nothing new there, is there? I mean, I’m sure it’ll (Noel’s album) be fucking amazing. But it just won’t be more amazing than mine.”

Liam Gallagher, Sheffield review: A poignant and loving jaunt down Britpop’s memory lane

“Right that’s it,” Liam Gallagher tweeted last Wednesday afternoon. “We are SOUNDING and LOOKING BIBLICAL see you Saturday don’t be late LG x.”

That was presumably his own way of announcing that rehearsals for this latest tour, his most nostalgic yet, were over. It’s difficult to imagine Liam Gallagher feeling the need to practice anything; he is such a walking study in self-possession that surely all his job ever demands of him is that he turns up on time and simply is Liam Gallagher, snarling, sneering, iconic.

We know that’s not the case, though. The 2016 documentary Supersonic , which charted Oasis’ nineties rise from Manchester upstarts to pop culture ubiquity, featured plenty of footage of the band honing their craft long before either Liam or his brother Noel were rock royalty; they both understood that excellence was hard-won.

Saturday was the opening show on a tour that is the closest either have come to a straight-up Oasis show since their 2009 split: even when Liam played two nights at Knebworth two years ago, echoing the legendary Oasis shows of 1996, nearly half the set was comprised of his solo material.

To mark its thirtieth anniversary, he plays Oasis’ seminal debut Definitely Maybe in full, and he does so thoughtfully. The stage set takes the album’s cover and explodes it; we get a giant floating globe, a football card facsimile of Burt Bacharach, two inflatable flamingos called Florence and Floella and visuals on the screen that hark back to old CRT television sets. The live band counts three backing singers and a string section among its number, as well as original Oasis member Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs on guitar. No expense appears to have been spared.

Whether Definitely Maybe is the best Oasis record is up for debate, but it’s certainly the most interesting, being as it is the only album they made before they were bona fide rock stars.

Accordingly, it’s full of quirks that would be ironed out by the time they were playing arenas like this one, on the outskirts of Sheffield city centre; ‘Digsy’s Dinner’ has 13,000 people singing the praises of lasagne, the moody ‘Shakermaker’ pays homage to the joys of record shopping in Burnage as a teenager, and ‘Whatever’ rings out with youthful optimism, the strings swelling and swooning handsomely.

At its core, that’s why Definitely Maybe didn’t just define the generation that came of age with it, but continues to capture the imagination of new ones; it’s a love letter to the rambunctiousness of youth, with flares and smoke bombs on the standing floor acting as a visual metaphor for the vivacious likes of ‘Rock n Roll Star’ and ‘Cigarettes and Alcohol’.

Gallagher is 51 now, but cuts the same figure as he always has; statuesque and self-assured, with that unmistakable voice holding up surprisingly well after years of excess.

He, and Oasis in general, were perhaps always at their most arresting when a crack in their laddish armour allowed us to see a little bit of vulnerability, and tonight’s most poignant moment comes when he dedicates ‘Half the World Away’ to “my older brother”. Gallagher has two of those, but he can only have been referring to Noel, who usually takes lead vocals on that track; it evokes a powerful sense of longing for a relationship that has long since broken down.

Whether it is beyond repair is another matter entirely, but for now, this jaunt down memory lane is the closest Oasis fans will get to the band themselves; the set is sprinkled with B-sides and rarities from the era, including some serious cult favourites in ‘Cloudburst’, ‘Fade Away’ and ‘D’Yer Wanna Be a Spaceman’. The number of tickets shifted for this tour tells its own story about how much the public still love Oasis; on the basis of this tenderly crafted celebration of the band, Liam Gallagher still loves Oasis, too.
