Hosted by a knowledgeable Jameson Brand Ambassador, you'll explore the secrets of Triple Distillation and the Angels' Share, all while uncovering the smooth, distinctive taste that has made Jameson Ireland’s best-selling whiskey.

The experience concludes with a comparative tasting of three exceptional Jameson whiskeys, followed by a refreshing Jameson signature drink at the bar. This 40-minute tour is a must-do for anyone visiting Dublin, offering an authentic taste of Irish tradition and innovation.

Vital Information In order to taste Jameson Whiskey you must be over the age of 18. Though you are still able to take the Jameson tour if you are under the age of 18. Ample free parking is available on-site.

The Weather The weather does not affect this experience.

Session Length The Jameson Distillery tour including a visit to the retail area, The Bow Street Markets can last approximately 45 minutes.

Numbers This voucher allows two people to enjoy the tour at the Old Jameson Distillery Dublin. You will share this experience with other people who are also taking the tour. There can be between 2-30 guests per tour and tours run every 10 minutes.

Spectators Other people wishing to join you on the tour would need to hold valid vouchers.

What To Wear There is no set dress code for this experience but as some of the tour takes please outside please dress suitably for the weather.

Availability The tours run approximately every 10 minutes from 10.00am and finish from 5.15pm. Summer months the closing time can extend to 6.00pm. The Distillery is open Monday - Saturday 9am - 6pm, Sunday 10am - 6pm. They are closed Good Friday, and 24th, 25th and 26th December.

Location Dublin city centre, located 5 minutes walk from the Red Smithfield Luas street tram.

Gettingt to the Fleet is easy!

• From Dublin Airport - The Airlink 747 is a route from Dublin Bus which serves the south side of Dublin City and drops you just a few minutes walk from the hotel. Buses run every 15 minutes.

Bow Street Experience Tour

Visitors to Jameson Distillery will have the opportunity to truly understand the process involved in making one of the world’s most famous whiskey brands, and the legacy John Jameson has created. The distillery ambassadors will bring you on a tour through this fabulous building detailing it's history and heritage with plenty of stories and craic and a comparative whiskey tasting, finishing off with a complimentary Jameson drink at the bar.

Whiskey Comparison and Complimentary Glass of Jameson

During your fully guided tour one of the Jameson Ambassador's will talk you through every step of the whiskey production process;

From grain to glass, you will become a whiskey distilling expert by the time the tour finishes! You will also take part in a comparative tasting of Jameson original, Jameson Black Barrel and Jameson Crested

After your comparison tasting, you can enjoy a complimentary glass of Jameson, and if you wish to, you can relax in JJs, Jameson’s in-house bar.

GETTING TO JAMESON WHISKEY DISTILLERY

Jameson Whiskey Distillery is located on Bow Street, close to Smithfield Square, which is a short walk from Dublin’s Temple Bar.

You can cycle to Jameson Distillery Bow St using many of the cycle lanes on the surrrounding roads, including the Liffey cycle lane. There is a Dublin Bike station located on Smithfield square.

Hop-On Hop-Off Tour

The Dublin Hop-On Hop-Off Tour has a stop 200metres from Jameson Distillery Bow St. Buy your ticket here .

From Trinity College Dublin, the Distillery is 1.7km walking distance - this is a 21 minute walk approx. (On the way, we suggest walking along the city’s quays by the Liffey)

You can take Dublin Bus Route 25, 25a, 25b, 26, 37, 39, 39a, 66, 66a, 66b, 66e. 67, 69, 70, 79, 145 to Arran Quay - the bus stop here is less than 200 metres from the distillery. For more information on Dublin Bus routes, visit dublinbus.ie

Visitors to Jameson Distillery Bow Street can take the Luas to Smithfield, and the Distillery is located very close to the stop.

Jameson Distillery Bow Street

Ireland sold more whiskey than any other nation in the 19th century. From 80 distilleries, the Irish were selling more than half of the whiskey around the world. Famous brands such as Jameson were producing whiskey in Dublin. It was during this time that the Irish started spelling "whisky" with an e before the y to differentiate from Scottish whisky, as they claimed Scottish whisky was second-rate.

If this sounds like an intriguing story, when you are visiting Dublin, stop by the Jameson Distillery Bow Street to learn more. Whether you are a whiskey expert or a novice, a tour can be enjoyed by anyone interested in Irish culture, as whiskey plays a prominent role in Irish heritage.

The origins of a classic

The original Jameson Distillery was established in Dublin on Bow Street in 1780, making the Jameson brand a producer of whiskey for over 200 years. Today, it is the fastest growing brand of Irish whiskey in the world, selling 7.3 million cases in 2018 alone. Its popularity may be partly due to its mild flavor resulting from kiln-dried barley, but you'll find out more about the incredible craft of whiskey-making when you take the tour at this historical landmark, Jameson Distillery Bow St.

The distillery only offers guided tours. The tours last about 40 minutes and occur every 1.5 hours, seven days a week. The guides are informed and engaging, making the tour a wonderful interactive experience. Expect a short audiovisual presentation, stories about the people who have worked devotedly in the distillery, the famous Irish craic, and everything you need to know about the process of making whiskey, from germination and fermentation to distillation and maturation.

You'll do a comparative whiskey tasting to learn the differences between Scotch, American, and Irish whiskey. Enjoy a complimentary drink in the bar where the tour ends. The bar has a warm and friendly atmosphere where you can sit down and relax after the tour. Take your time to sample a beverage that you now know so much more about.

Keep in mind

Arrive 15 minutes before the tour starts. Late arrivals risk the chance of missing the entire tour, as visitors can't join in the middle. Book your visit online via the distillery's website.

Each one of the copper stills at the distillery can hold up to 24,000 gallons of whiskey. Irish whiskey is so important to the nation that in 1980, the Irish Whiskey Act was established. The act defines the specific requirements, ingredients, and processes that the Irish whiskey must follow in order to even be called Irish whiskey.
