Australian music star Guy Sebastian has been forced to cancel two shows of his T.R.U.T.H tour after testing positive to Covid-19 amid a court trial where the judge has also fallen ill.

The singer, 40, was set to perform in Cairns on May 10 and Townsville on May 11.

Sebastian postponed both shows after testing positive to Covid on Thursday, just hours after attending court to testify in the trial of his former agent Titus Day.

“I am absolutely gutted! I was so looking forward to performing in Cairns & Townsville next week,” Sebastian said in a media release.

“I’m so sorry to disappoint my fans and I promise to do something even more special once I’m able to perform as a thank you for your patience and understanding.”

All ticket holders to the Cairns and Townsville shows will be contacted via email. Sebastian is expected to resume his tour on the Gold Coast next Friday, May 13.

The announcement comes after Sebastian was the first witness called to give evidence in court at the trial of former agent to the stars Titus Day, 49, on Wednesday.

Mr Day has pleaded not guilty to 50 counts of fraudulently embezzling money allegedly owed to Sebastian and 50 alternative larceny charges.

The trial, which began on Tuesday, was due to resume on Thursday morning with Sebastian scheduled to return to the witness box.

After a short delay, the court was told the Judge appointed to preside over the case had become ill.

Judge Peter Zahra would not able to attend court for two days, the court was told.

Titus Day and Guy Sebastian in happier times, before their bitter split.

It’s unclear if Sebastian will be permitted to give evidence via audiovisual link if he is unable to be in Sydney when the trial is set to resume on Monday.

He is yet to be cross examined by Mr Day’s lawyer.

Police allege the money Mr Day owed 40-year-old Sebastian came from a mix of royalty, performance and ambassador fees which were paid to the agent’s now liquidated management company 6 Degrees.

Mr Day was due to take a prearranged cut of the money and reimburse Sebastian with the rest. However, a NSW District Court jury has been told Mr Day allegedly never paid Sebastian the right amounts between 2013 and 2020.

Jennifer Lopez has issued a heartbreaking public statement, as rumours continue to swirl about her marriage to Ben Affleck.

“Just talk among yourselves …” Taylor Swift gave fans quite the surprise when she unwrapped her gown in a bid to fix a wardrobe malfunction.

Christina Aguilera has left fans stunned with her latest onstage appearance – it looks like she’s turned back the clock by 25 years.

Guy Sebastian Forced To Cancel Some Of His Tour Dates After Testing Positive For COVID-19

Singer, songwriter, and producer Guy Sebastian has recently announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19, dismissing his court appearances as well as planned tour dates.

In a recent social media post, the former Australian Idol winner revealed that he was “absolutely gutted” by his positive COVID-19 test result and the consequences it would have on his up and coming national tour – the shows he has scheduled in Cairns and Townsville next week needed to be rescheduled due to his test result.

“I am so sorry to disappoint my fans, and I promise to do something even more special once I’m able to perform as a thank-you for your patience and understanding,” he said in a statement .

ABC also confirms that Guy was set to go back to the stand on Thursday in the trial of Titus Emanuel Day, who is reportedly accused of stealing $900,000 from Guy; however, the hearing was adjourned after Judge Peter Zahra suddenly felt sick.

Tour managing director Tim McGregor advised that next week’s shows would have to be rescheduled due to the COVID-19 situation. However, ticket holders will be notified shortly of the new dates.

“Touring in these times is certainly challenging,” he quipped.

“We look forward to getting the show back on the road as soon as possible.”

He also mentioned that all other shows remained on schedule, with the national tour set to resume on the Gold Coast on May 13.

Live Review: Guy Sebastian T.R.U.T.H National Tour 2022

Words by Sheldon Ang

The choir hums in harmony with the angelical expulsion from the saintly cords, seemingly in cadence with the search lights that swept across the arena. Fans are hypnotised by the heavenly caress of an oral blitz, narrating the journey of solidarity, love, honesty, and other spiritual commandments. Rumours has it that his vocal cords were also touched by God. Of course, that would be sacrilegious – after all, that comparison is reserved, locked, stocked and barrelled for the late Pavarotti. But tonight, the voice belongs to Guy Sebastian .

The fact is the multiple ARIA award winning artist has been sparring with himself in a pandemic cage since the release of his latest and ninth album T.R.U.T.H., which debut at number one in October of 2020. To be on the receiving end of his visceral percolation of vocal explosion was divinely insane given the percolated frustration.

As the title may suggests, the album highlights a chapter of Sebastian’s life about the realisation on the power of truth. The spark of the album came from his split with his management of whom he trusted, a personal affair which became very public, enshrouded by betrayal. Those were his words.

But the album is not all about doom, gloom and the malice of deception. T.R.U.T.H. also dwells on triumph, strength, hope, and inspiration with the common denominator being truth…and tonight we witnessed the visceral interpretation beaming from his sumptuous performance, spraying a dose of emotional congeniality for so many in light of the current times.

So at eight o’clock sharp, Guy graced the stage with Before I Go , an ironic title for a first song in the list. But this song dwells on strength, redemption and self-belief despite life’s obstacles. He strode on the back platform with the je ne sais qua of a lone ranger, oozing more soul than a 90’s RnB foursome…while on low register – the kind of teaser that would be felt by a passenger in a Ferrari that’s about hit zero to hundred in three seconds. As he slammed the afterburners to the high register, the Arena transformed into house of a million goosebumps under the saintly stage lighting, casting a celestial range over the awed patrons through an effortless gusto – which is the trademark of Guy’s live performance.

By the third track, Guy removed the trench coat, and reminding the patrons that the world was once a party central with clubbing favourite Who’s that Girl of 2010. Guy danced mellifluously, owning traces from his Memphis sleepovers, as he gyrated in synch with his three backup vocalists including Perth local, CBD legend and Guy’s Best Man Gary Pinto .

The interchange between genres was mellifluous; dance, funk, pop, RnB and ballads of the broken hearts including with 2021 The Voice winner Bella Taylor Smith (the night’s opener), performing The Prayer . The fans reconvened to a standstill, as shenanigans turned into a subdued obedience, grounded by the angelical performance of the master and apprentice, oozing and sifting the interweaving bond between man and woman through the vocal delivery par excellence.

And that effort goes with every of Guy’s performance. The number one rule of great writing is to “show, don’t tell”. In showbiz, this tenet is particularly true with Guy, where he excruciatingly enshrouded the fans with his emotional craft in the poignant Standing With You . On piano, Guy awed the crowd with every note and verse, reaching the astronomical highs and blowing the roofs of the Arena with the chorus, bringing tears to the broken souls, dreamers and melancholics.

Guy also paid homage to The Australian Idol of 2003, usurping the nostalgic melodies and the winner’s single Angel Brought Me Here (also performed on the American Idol), sparking a mobile phone festival of lights. In a way, the pitch perfect performance of the (almost) 7-time Platinum single also narrated the journey of Guy before a capacity crowd of 9200 – the most in the T.R.U.T.H tour in a single night.  And there were the honourable mentions of Like it Like That , followed by Gold and like a Drum before the encore Choir – where the arena became the largest compilation of backup vocals through the conductorship of Guy Sebastian.

If critiques think Guy showcases his versatility in the album T.R.U.T.H, his performance of vocal crisp and malleable vocals is an unforgettable chapter of our live performance experience. Put simply, the boy from Klang, Malaysia is one the best vocalists on the planet.

Guy Sebastian runs a foundation for the kids, so far raising $700K of a target $1 million. “This program is so important…open parachute is a peer-to-peer mental youth program so kids can watch other kids their own age on issues of depression, anxiety, harm. This program is developed by clinical psychologist Dr Haley Dobson. It only cost $30 child for the entire year…that’s a lot of kids for a million…so far we’ve helped eighteen thousand kids…if you go to the www.theSebastianfoudation.org , and if you think is a good thing then check it out…and thank you for being part of that journey with me”

Guy Sebastian is an Australian singer/songwriter originally from Adelaide who won the very first series of Australian Idol and has become one of the country's best selling artists.

Guy Theodore Sebastian is one of Australia's most successful artists who received his commercial break after being crowned the victor of the first season of Australian Idol in 2003. Following on from his talent show background he was chosen as a judge of the Australian X Factor between 2010 and 2012. His first album titled 'Just As I Am' was released shortly after his win and topped the Australian album charts upon release, it now holds a six times platinum selling certificate. The following six albums all hit the top 10 on the albums chart and hold at least a platinum selling certificiate. He has enjoyed similar success with his singles, appearing twelve times on the top ten, six of which topped the chart. To date Sebastian is the only male artist in Australian chart history to score six number one singles.

'Battle Scars' is perhaps his most successful single to date, achieving six times platinum selling certificate in Australia as well as charting on numerous international charts including New Zealand, Norway and the United States. To date Scott has accumulated 51 platinum certificates and four gold making him the most successful Australian Idol contestant of all time and one of Australia's best selling artists.

His career has also been a critical success, to date he has been nominated 24 times for ARIA Awards nominations and has won four. When Australia released their list of thehighest selling singles of the decade, Sebastian's first release 'Angels Brought Me Here' was named as the top selling song.

Live reviews

The only male artist to make Australian chart history by achieving six number one singles started his career by being the first winner of Australian Idol in 2003. After a successful career, Guy Sebastian even went on to be a judge in the 2010-2012 Australian X Factor show. There's no question that the singer has talent, he wouldn't have been able to get away with gaining his success through auto tune as he won the talent show with his gorgeous voice alone singing Stevie Wonder's 'Ribbon in the Sky'. His second album 'Beautiful Life' included songs he wrote with Robin Thicke and took a more R&B style to it than his usual music, which had a great response from his fans. He has such clear admiration and appreciation for his fans, which is evident from his performance on the Australian X Factor in 2012 as he kept thanking the public for his success. It's extremely refreshing to see someone talented, who has come so far to be down to earth and understanding of how they got there. I don’t think much of him as a performer, his acts are a bit standard and he needs lots of fire and backing dancers to make it more interesting, but there’s no questioning his singing ability which left me with goose bumps.

Back in the days when talent programmes were legitimate starting pathways to a successful career in music, the Australian version of Pop Idol discovered an impressive singer/songwriter called Guy Sebastian. Fast forward twelve years and he has made chart history in Australia selling millions of albums and charting at #1 with numerous singles. He may not be hugely known in other parts of the world but he is a mega star in his homeland and his live shows have a suitable atmosphere.

From the moment the lights dim the screams are completely deafening as Sebastian's entourage and band slowly lead onto the stage followed by the man himself. Years on in his career and Guy has established exactly the kind of artist he wants to be as he carefully toes the line between pop, dance and R & B throughout the show via 'Like It Like That' 'Like A Drum' and 'Get Along'. He still performs his debut number one single 'Angels Brought Me Here' if only to hear his deafening choir of followers join in for the chorus. It is the new track 'Battle Scars' in collaboration with Lupe Fiasco that receives the biggest cheers of the night and reassures Sebastian that his career will keep raising higher and higher.

Jennifer Lopez cancels 2024 tour This Is Me: 'Completely heartsick and devastated'

guy sebastian tour cancelled 2022

Jennifer Lopez has canceled her summer North American tour , which was to be her first in five years, weeks before she was scheduled to go on the road.

The pop star made the announcement Friday in her On The JLo fan newsletter.

"Representatives for Live Nation announced today that the Jennifer Lopez US Summer 2024 Tour 'THIS IS ME...LIVE' is canceled, citing ... 'Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends,'" the newsletter reads.

The statement was followed by a personal note , "A Special Message to My JLovers OnTheJLo."

"I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again," Lopez wrote. "I love you all so much. Until next time..."

USA TODAY has reached out to Live Nation for comment.

Lopez's first show of the tour had been slated for June 26 in Orlando, Florida.

This Is Me... Live announcement comes after seven tour dates were canceled

The announcement comes weeks after several shows on the tour were canceled without explanation. According to Ticketmaster, Lopez's scheduled performances in Nashville, Tennessee; New Orleans; Raleigh, North Carolina; Atlanta; Houston; Cleveland and Tampa, Florida would no longer take place.

"Unfortunately, the event organizer has had to cancel your event," the message for those pages reads.

This is Me...Live was a 30-date arena tour that was going to feature Lopez's chart-breakers and classic hits from her discography, like songs "On The Floor," "Let's Get Loud" and "Jenny from the Block." Her most recent tour in 2019, the It's My Party tour, sold out venues across the country.

The tour was in support of her new album, “This is Me … Now,” which released in February. The record was accompanied by an Amazon Prime musical movie, “ This is Me … Now: A Love Story ."

Speaking to USA TODAY earlier this year about "This is Me ... Now" possibly being her swan song, Lopez said, "This was going to be the quintessential thing I have been searching for and wanted to say about love."

"I’ve been on this search for so long, since people first met me and my first record came out and even before that in my first movie role, where I’ve been on this journey trying to figure this thing out for myself. This (album) kind of closed the loop in a way,” she said. “It captures this moment to really say the things I want to say about love, and that is that true love does exist and some things are forever. Please don’t give up on that because that’s all that matters in life … love.”'

Bennifer timeline: Their love story spans two decades, two engagements

Separate outings have fueled speculation about marriage with Ben Affleck

Lopez's announcement also comes amid widespread speculation about her marriage of nearly two years to Ben Affleck.

After various media reports suggested Lopez and Affleck may no longer be living together, the Hollywood A-List couple has been increasingly under the microscope, with media prying over their whereabouts and whether both are still wearing their rings.

On May 16, Lopez and Affleck were photographed together for the first time in over a month, with each spotted wearing their respective wedding rings.

The two were engaged to each other twice: first in 2002 then again in 2021. The couple got married in a late-night ceremony in Las Vegas on July 16, 2022, which Lopez called "the best possible wedding we could have imagined."

This is the second marriage for Affleck and the fourth for Lopez.

Tour refunds for JLo tickets

Tickets will automatically be refunded, according to the newsletter.

Fans who purchased from third-party sites such as SeatGeek, StubHub and VividSeats should reach out to those websites for refunds.

‘Heartsick’ Jennifer Lopez canceling tour to spend time with kids amid Ben Affleck split speculation

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

Jennifer Lopez is canceling her tour to spend more time with her family, and is “heartsick” over the decision to pull the plug, the singer announced Friday.

Sources said Lopez, 54, was canceling the tour due to a sensitive time in her personal life, as she and husband Ben Affleck are said to be headed toward a split .

We hear that Lopez was sending a special message to her fans via her “On the JLo” newsletter Friday, telling them of canceling the tour, “I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down.”

jennifer lopez

She also said, “Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary.”

“I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time…”

Representatives for Live Nation announced that the summer tour, “This Is Me… Live,” was canceled, saying in a statement, “Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends.”

Jennifer Lopez

Sources insisted that pulling the plug was not due to poor ticket sales , but rather for personal reasons and wanting to be with her kids.

The US tour  was rebranded  in April, after it had initially been called “This Is Me…Now” after  Lopez’s latest album , in which she sang about her journey to  a rekindled love with Affleck .

The star’s ninth studio album made a debut  on the Billboard 200 at No. 38.

But sources said there had been a recent uptick in concert sales, and that some markets were performing well including sales in cities such as Newark, which had 92% of seats sold, and Toronto, with 86% of seats, plus markets like Orlando, Miami, Rosemont and Anaheim.

Jennifer Lopez

Sources pointed out that her new Netflix movie, “Atlas,” was a hit for the streamer.

Lopez was spotted earlier this month in good spirits headed to rehearsals for the shows, as rumors of a split with Affleck swirled.

Lopez has 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme, with her ex, Marc Anthony.

A source told Page Six that  Lopez and Affleck are going to end their marriage  after being unable to make things work. The duo first sparked speculation that their relationship was on the rocks when Affleck did  not attend the Met Gala with Lopez  earlier this month.
