The final leg of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour has begun as the singer-songwriter returns to North America for one last stretch of performances. She finished her final London shows in August and will tour Canada and a few remaining US cities until December. If you're hoping to attend, we've compiled all of the details of The Eras Tour, including how to get Taylor Swift tickets.
Swift's Eras Tour has taken the world by storm since March 2023. The three-plus-hour tour features hits from each of Swift's album eras, from "Lover" to her Grammy Award-winning "Midnights." Each show also features surprise songs and occasional guests, so fans never quite know what they're in for. Swift released her latest album, "The Tortured Poets Department," in April, and the Swiftie hype has continued throughout the summer.

Getting tickets has become its own battle and many fans have waited hours in the Ticketmaster queue to hopefully snag some seats, if they could get a presale ticket code in the first place. So far, Swift's tour has passed through various cities in the US, Europe, Australia, Latin America, and Asia, among other regions. As Swift approaches her last tour dates, which will see her take her final bow in Canada, tickets remain hard to come by.
Below, we've put together a guide on everything to know about The Eras Tour, including the tour schedule, ticket purchasing details, resale ticket prices, and the concert film streaming options. You can also peruse resale vendors like StubHub and Vivid Seats at your leisure.
Taylor Swift North American tour dates
The Eras tour will return to the US on October 18 in Miami. In addition to the Miami shows, Swift will perform multiple dates in New Orleans and Indianapolis. On November 14, Swift will head to Canada for several shows in Toronto and Vancouver. All North American shows start at 7 p.m. local time.
How to buy tickets for Taylor Swift's 2024 tour
Original standard tickets for Taylor Swift's 2024 tour sold out long ago for both international and domestic dates. All US tickets and many international tickets were sold through Ticketmaster , although select international locations used different services.
Tickets for most dates are available on resale websites like StubHub and Vivid Seats . These are generally higher-priced than the originals, which are no longer available. Keep in mind that some countries have rules regarding reselling tickets.
How much are Taylor Swift tickets?
Ticket prices vary by date and location. European resale tickets tended to be a bit cheaper than North American resale tickets and some of the cheapest tickets have restricted views.
When it comes to North American shows, the cheapest StubHub tickets at the time of writing range from $763 (Miami, Florida on October 18) to $1,665 (Indianapolis, Indiana, on November 2). Most of the cheapest tickets are priced between $763 and $1,600. On Vivid Seats, the cheapest Taylor Swift tickets on these dates start at $700 and $1,759, respectively. The two resale vendors generally have similarly priced offerings, but this varies from show to show.
Resale ticket listings have dropped drastically in price over the past month. In fact, they're the lowest prices we've seen for North American tour dates in the past six months. The cheapest starting prices for the final North American leg of the tour previously ranged between $1,661 and $2,322 at the beginning of September.

Who is opening for Taylor Swift's tour?
Taylor Swift has a variety of opening acts, from up-and-coming singers to established groups. Opening acts vary by date. In the US and Canada, Gracie Abrams will be the opening act. For the European leg of the tour, Paramore opened for Swift. Earlier in the tour, Swift had Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, MUNA, HAIM, and more open for her.
Will Taylor Swift add more dates to the Eras Tour?
Taylor Swift has already added additional stops to her tour due to popular demand, including her US tour dates this fall. She also added additional dates to some of her European city stops, including bonus performances in France and the United Kingdom, among other locations.
During her 100th show, a mid-June performance in Liverpool, Swift acknowledged that the tour would conclude in December. "The celebration of the 100th show for me means this is the very first time I've ever acknowledged to myself and admitted that this tour is going to end in December," Swift told the crowd in a moment that was widely captured and posted across social media. This statement means that the Eras Tour is unlikely to extend past 2024, but we'll keep this guide updated if Swift announces any changes (or additions) to her tour lineup.
Were any tour dates canceled?
Taylor Swift was originally scheduled to play three Eras Tour shows from August 9 to 11, 2024, in Vienna, Austria. However, the shows were canceled after Austrian officials confirmed that multiple individuals were arrested on suspicion of planning an attack at one of the shows. As of August 12, no other Eras Tours performances have been canceled.
Is The Tortured Poets Department a part of the Eras Tour?
It's good news for fans of "The Tortured Poets Department," Swift's most recent album that dropped on April 19, 2024. Swift is incorporating several of the new tracks into the Eras Tour, as evidenced by the first shows of her European leg. "The Tortured Poets Department" songs currently featured on tour include "But Daddy I Love Him," "So High School," "Down Bad," "Fortnight," "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?," "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived," and "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart."
Since the Eras Tour is already pretty long, this means that Swift is also cutting down a few songs from past Eras that previously made the tour setlist. The songs that were removed from the setlist include "The Archer," "Long Live," "The 1," "The Last Great American Dynasty," "'Tis the Damn Season," and "Tolerate It."

Taylor Swift UK tour locations: What cities will Taylor play in?
As mentioned above, Taylor Swift's UK and Ireland tour locations are as follows:
For The Eras Tour, it's possible that Taylor will also add more dates due to demand when tickets go on sale. We'll keep you posted with any updates.
How much will the tickets to Taylor Swift's tour be in the UK?
Below are the prices based on the official confirmed price list for Wembley Stadium:
- Front standing right: £175.25
- Front standing left: £175.25
- General Admission standing: £110.40
- Level 1 and Level 5 seating: £58.65 - £194.75
The prices for the Dublin dates have not yet been confirmed. Fans will get a clearer idea of the Dublin prices when presales begin on Friday 14th July.
Will Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour setlist be the same in the UK?
Historically, Taylor rarely edits her setlists much from country to country. Taylor currently performs two surprise songs on The Eras Tour each night, while the setlist remains the same. However, given that The Eras Tour is already Taylor's biggest tour to date, and will likely have significant gaps between legs, anything is possible.
As it stands, Taylor Swift and Speak Now are almost entirely absent from The Eras Tour setlist but it doesn't have to stay that way. Taylor is set to release Speak Now (Taylor's Version ) on July 7th and it's possible that Taylor will add more Speak Now songs to the setlist once her version is released.
The setlist could possibly have some changes by the time it reaches the UK.
What do you think? Will you be getting tickets to see Taylor in the UK?

How much do tickets cost to see taylor swift in poland.
For the first time in her storied career, Taylor Swift will headline in Poland.
From Thursday, Aug. 1 through Saturday, Aug. 3, the chart-topping, globe-trotting superstar is bringing her ongoing ‘Eras Tour’ feat. Paramore to Warsaw’s PGE Narodowy for three, huge back-to-back-to-back concerts.
And, if you want to see the Time Magazine 2023 Person of the Year perform live, it isn’t too late to grab last-minute tickets .
At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find on seats was $498 USD before fees on Vivid Seats.
While that may sound expensive — it is! — prices are much more reasonable than they were after the release of “The Tortured Poet’s Department” back in April.
Our team found seats started at $828 before fees .
So, while $498 isn’t exactly cheap, tickets are $330 less than they were a little over three months ago.
Sometimes “all of this silence and patience, pining in anticipation” as Tay Tay sings in “Dress,” really does pay off.
Still need a bit more information before committing?
We’ve got you covered, Swifties.
Everything you need to know and more about Taylor Swift’s three ‘Eras Tour’ concerts at Warsaw’s PGE Narodowy can be found below.
All prices listed above are subject to fluctuation.

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.
They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

Taylor Swift ‘Eras Tour’ news
Our team has been following the ‘Eras Tour’ closely over the past year.
Just a few of the most exciting stories we’ve published include a chat with a Swiftie who shared some helpful tips about seeing Taylor live, a report on dropping ticket prices , and a list of all the most exciting fan trends .
Taylor Swift new music
Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department” was released at midnight (and subsequently at 2 a.m.) on Friday, April 19.
While every listener will likely come away with their own favorites, we particularly enjoyed the sleek, synthy “Fortnight,” icy “So Long, London,” anthemic “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” a bombastic slow build of “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” and gorgeously arranged “Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus.”
If you want to give it a spin — if you’re one of the few people on the planet who hasn’t already, that is — you can find “The Tortured Poets Department” here .
The Hayley Williams-fronted pop-punk rockers are opening for Swift from May through August this year. This may come as a bit of a surprise to some fans considering that the group mounted a successful arena tour of their own in 2023.
That tour came on the heels of Paramore’s 2022 reunion; Prior to that, the band had been on a five-year hiatus.
For fans who want to check out their latest, their 2023 album “This Is Why” can be heard here .
Huge stars on tour in 2024
Although it will cost an arm and a leg (sometimes more!) to see Swift live this year, there are much more affordable — likely stateside — concerts you can attend this year.
Here are just five of our favorite artists you won’t want to miss live.
• Olivia Rodrigo
• Kacey Musgraves
• Sabrina Carpenter
• Gracie Abrams
• Billie Eilish

How much are last-minute tickets? There’s more than one way to score Eras Tour tickets, but expect to spend several hundred bucks on a ticket, depending on the seats and date of the show.
Swift is slated to perform at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans from Oct. 25 to 27 . Tickets are scarce and selling fast — especially in the last hour (more than 81,000 people were looking at tickets when we last checked). Prior to circling back to the U.S., the Eras Tour has stopped in Spain, Sweden, Portugal and Japan, France, Poland, Austria, Australia and the U.K.
Tickets for the North American leg are currently available at StubHub , Vivid Seats and Seat Geek , although pricing usually starts at around $700-$800, demand is extremely high at the moment, so while tickets currently start at $703 at SeatGeek and over $824 at StubHub , most of the good seats could cost you more than $1,000 depending on the date of the show. Other resale ticket sites will cost you around the same price but for fans who want to catch Swift’s opening night in Miami on Oct. 18 , tickets prices start at $708 at Vivid Seats and just over $800 at StubHub .

At press time, most of tickets to Miami start at around $700-$1,400 , although some of the in-demand and VIP tickets are priced above $2,000 at StubHub , which is around the same prices that you might find on sites such as Ticketsmarter and TicketNetwork . In 2022, Swift shared a poster advertising the tour’s initial 27-date U.S. leg on Instagram featuring a collage of photos of herself through the years, from the time of her self-titled debut to Midnights , which dropped less than two weeks prior to the tour news.
“I wanted to tell you something that I’ve been so excited about for a really long time. I’ve been planning for ages and I finally get to tell you: I’m going back on tour,” Swift said on GMA , announcing the news. “The tour is called the Eras tour and it’s a journey through all of the musical eras of my career.”

Breaking Down the Jaw-Dropping Cost and Numbers for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour From Shipping to Tickets
Taylor Swift officially made billionaire status in 2023, and the global superstar certainly hasn’t cut costs when it comes to putting on the best show possible for her fans during the Eras tour. A fan broke down the costs for the tour on X.
The Eras tour production gear weighed “1,697,440 lbs” and took up “19,200 sq ft worth of containers on a 964 ft cargo vessel” that transported the material to Europe, X user @SoLongLiz explained on Wednesday, October 16. Liz added that “2,206 separately tagged items” were “spread across 60 XL (40ft) shipping containers.” Two of those containers were labeled “wardrobe and dry cleaning,” and then another three containers held the props Taylor, 34, used for her performances. Liz also said that there were “containers for the lighting, cameras & video, pyro, merch, cabin, and Folkmore trees.”
“The Eras Tour shipment was declared at a total value of $15,398,920 USD - inclusive of freight and insurance. While we don’t have the precise shipping and insurance costs, using the industry standards for a shipment of this size, it usually costs around $80k for freight and $76.5k for insurance,” she continued.
Liz concluded by citing her source as the U.S. Borders and Custom Protection and wrote, “So according to Taylor’s own company - Firefly Productions - and her freight contractor, The Eras Tour production equipment, stage, lighting, costumes, instruments and assumably everything else you see when she’s on stage, costs more than $15,000,000 USD.”
While $15,000,000 seems like quite a chunk of change, it pales in comparison to the amount Taylor has raked in over the last year with the Eras tour. In December 2023, Forbes reported that the tour had broken a record when it became the first concert tour in history to gross over $1 billion. Plus, it actually hit the billion mark just from her shows in 2023 alone, and the number didn’t include the profits from the remainder of her shows in 2024 .
Pollstar reported that the “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” singer “sold a mind-boggling 4.3 million tickets at an average ticket price of $238.95, putting her average show gross at a massive $17,321,063.” The outlet added that these tickets weren’t even the highest priced tickets for performances by musical artists in 2023, either. Taylor’s average ticket price for her 2023 shows was actually less than Adele’s .
The Eras tour broke plenty of records not relating to money and costs, as well. Taylor’s opening concert in Glendale, Arizona, shattered Madonna’s record of having the most attendees. The Glendale show brought in 69,000 fans while Madonna previously held the record with 63,000, according to Newsweek . Taylor also broke a record that was previously held by Michael Jackson when she played eight sold out shows at Wembley Stadium .
Plus, it wasn’t even just the live concerts breaking records for the “All Too Well” artist. Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour , the movie version of the show, was the first concert movie to ever receive a Golden Globe when it was nominated for the newly created category Best Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. However, the award went to Barbie .

Gold prices have reached a record high of more than $2,700 in recent days.
The ounce price was up 2% across last week and is currently more than 37% up on a year ago.
Several factors seem to be pushing up the price of precious metals, which are seen as a safe haven in times of uncertainty.
One is that interest rates are on a downward path - which could impact currencies and mean investors get less return for their cash.
Uncertainty over who will win the US election, and what that could mean for markets, is also having an impact.
Thirdly, tensions in the Middle East have caused jitters.
This analysis, by financial adviser Anita Wright from Bolton James Ltd, was supplied to Money by industry news agency Newspage...
"Although gold has reached a new all-time high, the real action in gold prices hasn't started yet, and there is still much upside potential.
"Many key drivers that historically push gold prices higher are not yet fully in play. For instance, real interest rates remain positive, and the US dollar has retained some strength.
"Interest rate cuts have only just begun, and we have not yet seen the significant negative real yields that often fuel gold's rise.
"In addition, geopolitical factors, such as sanctions on Russia, are pushing many BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates) to reduce their dependency on the dollar, which could lead to dollar weakness in the near future - a key driver for gold.
"With the fiat currency system under strain and a potential 'race to the bottom' for many currencies, gold could continue its upward momentum. It's possible that gold could reach the $3,000–$3,200 range before seeing another pause."
All of which might pose the question: should you invest in gold?
Earlier this year, reporter Brad Young spoke to experts to find out the kind of things you should consider first...
Basically, a railcard is a discount card that allows you to save money on the price of eligible train tickets.
The cards are available for either one year or three years. Most people will be eligible for at least one type of card, depending on factors such as your age, and who you normally travel with.
Here's a list of the different cards you can get, what they cost, what they offer, and who is eligible...
16-17 Saver Railcard
This card costs £30 a year and comes with 50% off fares.
The 16-17 Saver can be purchased by all 16 and 17-year-olds regardless of nationality. It's valid for one year or until your 18th birthday, whichever comes first.
It cannot be used for ScotRail or Caledonian Sleeper services, or with certain Oyster tickets and Travelcards for travel in London. So do check the details and how they apply to you.
16-25 Railcard
This card costs £30 for a single year, or £70 for three years.
It offers a third off of adult fares and is for those under 26 or full-time students of any age.
If you're travelling between 4.30am and 10am, Monday to Friday, you'll need to buy a ticket with a minimum cost of £12 to use your railcard and get that discount.
26-30 Railcard
This card costs £30 for one year and also offers a third off of adult fares.
You can buy a 26-30 Railcard any time before your 31st birthday and keep using it for a whole year, until its expiry date.
As above, and with many of the other railcards on this list, you'll need to spend at least £12 to use your discount on journeys between 4.30am and 10am, Monday to Friday.
Disabled Person's Railcard
This card costs £20 for one year, or £54 for three years.
It offers you and an adult companion a third off.
You will qualify if you receive disability-related benefits and/or have certain disabilities. Click here for more information on eligibility.
Your companion doesn't need to be a carer to qualify.
Family & Friends Railcard
This card costs £30 for one year, or £70 for three years.
It offers a third off for adults and 60% for children on most rail fares.
Up to four adults (aged 16+) are eligible when travelling with up to four children (five to 15).
Two adults can be named on the card but they don't need to travel together to use it. You do need to be travelling with at least one child, aged 5-15.
There are some restrictions on its use. For example, it cannot be used on weekday mornings peak-time between London and southeast England area stations .
HM Forces Railcard
This card costs £21 for one year and offers a third off for adults and 60% off for a maximum of four children on most rail fares.
All members of regular forces and volunteer reserve, non-regular permanent staff and more are eligible. Click here to see the full list.
You can use the discount on all journeys, but you will require a minimum £12 fare for journeys 4.30am to 10am, Monday to Friday (except July, August and public holidays).
The card is issued directly to HM Forces Personnel by their corresponding Ministry of Defence service unit to whom all enquiries should be made.
Network Railcard
This card costs £30 for one year and offers a third off most adult fares and 60% off child fares in the London and the South East area - which might be bigger than you think.
With this railcard, you can take up to three adults with you and they also get up to a third off their fare.
You can also take up to four children aged 5-15 with you, and get 60% off their tickets.
It is not valid before 10am on weekdays, except for some services .
There is a £13 minimum fare per adult Monday to Friday and a £1 minimum fare per child aged five to 15 at all times.
Senior Railcard
This railcard for those aged 60 and over costs £30 for one year, or £70 for three years, though some local councils offer this slightly cheaper.
Like most of the other cards here, it offers users a third off adult fares.
It is not valid on weekday mornings peak time between London and South East England area stations.
Two Together Railcard
This third off railcard is for two named people aged 16+ travelling together. It costs £30 for one year.
It's intended to help people save with the person they travel with most - be that a couple, friend or colleague.
It is not valid from 4.30am to 9.30am on weekdays and both named people must purchase tickets together and start and finish their journeys together.
Veterans Railcard
This costs £30 for one year or £70 for three years.
It offers users a third off adult fares and 60% off for children on most rail fares.
Those who served one day or more in HM Armed Forces (regular or reserve) are eligible. It is also available to merchant mariners who have seen duty on legally defined military operations.
Check the eligibility criteria and who else can benefit .
How do I apply for a Railcard?
You can apply online with National Rail for a digital or physical card.
You can also buy them in person at a staffed station ticket office for a physical card. You can buy a card for yourself or another person.
For certain types of railcards, you will need to provide proof of identity - forms of ID accepted are:
- Driving Licence (excluding Northern Ireland)
- EEA National Identity Card

Thousands of people in the Canary Islands have been protesting against the number of tourists.
There were simultaneous demonstrations in Gran Canaria, Tenerife , La Palma, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and El Hierro on Sunday calling for a change in the tourism model for the Spanish islands.
In the Playa de las Americas in Tenerife, a resort popular with British holidaymakers, protesters appeared on the beach while tourists were sunbathing and chanted: "This beach is ours."
At least 8,000 people took part in the protests under the slogan Canary Islands has a limit, the Spanish government said.
Activists say local people are being priced out of the housing market and the arrival of millions of visitors every year depletes limited natural resources like water and damages the environment.
It remains to be seen if the demonstrations could lead to extra costs for tourists in future, or limits on the numbers who can visit.
But it's part of a growing trend of protests against tourism across the world.

Our deep dive into how weekend bets could impact your mortgage application divided opinion.
Some accused us of "scaremongering" with the notion that the occasional flutter could stop you getting a loan.
The article did not suggest this was a universal experience - but while some of you wrote in to say betting hadn't impacted your mortgage application, for others the piece rang true...
I had the odd flutter on a Saturday when my local team were playing, it then got red flagged whilst applying for a mortgage. We got our mortgage but with a higher rate due to the fact we had other flags. StevieHart74
As an adviser I have had a few clients where this has been an issue with lenders - however, not because of the odd flutter. It needs to be relevant to the size, income and affordability. If it is £100s of pounds a month then this is definitely a red flag. Mortgage Mum
Recently approved for a mortgage and the odd deposit on a gambling website didn't seem to affect us. I've even taken part in matched betting. One thing, though, is that there weren't any particularly recent transactions, so maybe a "circuit break" before applying is a good idea. AnonymousAnonym
My mortgage adviser told me not to place a single bet three months prior to my application as she warned me it could affect my application. Giggetygiggety
Mortgage underwriter here… Putting £5 on the football at the weekends isn't going to be an issue for lenders. Spending £100s a month will be a concern. Different to alcohol/smoking. I've seen people lose their homes because of addition to gambling. Jt
When I got my mortgage they weren't concerned by the money going out on bets, they were more concerned about the money coming back in ie winnings, maybe they thought money laundering but that's all they questioned really. Pchy10
Had to double my mortgage due to gambling, only lender would help me was with an 8% mortgage. Hard at the time. George
I would do a bet once a week for £5 . Even though I was earning £400pw my bank turned me down for a loan. lawso29

Nearly half of retail workers want to leave their jobs or the industry altogether in a bid to escape rising levels of violence and abuse, a survey has suggested.
According to charity Retail Trust, which surveyed 1,200 workers, 47% of retail staff fear for their safety at work due to rising incidents of violence.
Nearly half (48%) said they did not get enough support from their employer to deal with the current levels of violence, threats, and abuse.
The data also revealed that 55% of workers said the situation had worsened in the past two years.
Retail Trust CEO Chris Brook-Carter said the charity had heard "horrifying and heartbreaking" anecdotes from retail staff, including workers being spat on and having products smashed in front of them.
More than 300 business leaders, including the CEO of British Airways and the boss of the Royal Opera House, have called on the chancellor to scrap the so-called "tourist tax" in her upcoming budget next week.
VAT-free shopping for tourists was scrapped by Rishi Sunak during his tenure as chancellor, with the Treasury arguing that reinstating the scheme would cost up to £2bn a year in lost taxes. But the UK is the only country in Europe that does allow visitors to reclaim the 20% VAT on everything they buy.
Business owners argue it unfairly penalises them, particularly those selling luxury items.
As well as those mentioned above, an open letter has been signed by hotelier Sir Rocco Forte, fashion designer Paul Smith, head of John Lewis Paul Marsden and business director of Bicester Village John Durnin.
It reads: "What has become known as the 'tourist tax' has turned into a spectacular own goal for the UK.
"People are increasingly choosing to shop in Paris, Milan and Berlin rather than here because the VAT rebate has gone."
It's currently a buyer's market if you're considering purchasing a property, according to an analysis by Rightmove.
The average price of a home increased by less than usual for the month of October - by 0.3% month-on-month, or £1,199, to reach £371,958.
It is a result of increased negotiating power among buyers, Rightmove said, given there is a greater choice of properties on the market.
Tim Bannister, Rightmove's director of property science, said: "This month's subdued price growth comes as buyer choice soars to a level not seen since 2014.
"With the ball in the buyer's court and the pick of a big crop to choose from, sellers need to be pricing competitively to find a buyer, particularly with affordability still very stretched.
"We're not seeing activity slow down, but some estate agents report that some movers are now waiting for budget clarity and anticipated cheaper mortgage rates later this year. However, others state that movers are largely just getting on with plans."
It's worth pointing out that house prices are still historically high and interest rates - while coming down - are still at elevated levels.
The question of where interest rates will eventually land has been the source of much speculation in the last year or two.
Around 3.5% has been an often-cited destination point for late next year as central banks, having seen inflation come under control, ease monetary policy.
But two predictions today might please anyone due to remortgage in around a year's time.
US investment bank Goldman Sachs is now forecasting a drop to 2.75% by November 2025.
Goldman pointed to "rapidly falling inflation and dovish Monetary Policy Committee commentary".
The base rate was raised to 5.25% last August, a 16-year high.
We've had one cut since then, with another widely anticipated on 7 November which would bring the rate to 4.75%.
In a separate forecast, Deutsche Bank has also lowered its expectation to 3% for the early part of 2026.

Our homes can certainly take a hit in the winter - and that's true of our outside spaces too.
The thought of trudging outside when it's cold may not be the most appealing thought, but it's important to keep your garden in shape ready for spring.
Here with some tips for keeping your garden looking lovely during colder periods is Andy Simms, a trade expert at MyBuilder.com...
Protect outdoor taps and water features
Ice can become a real issue for outdoor taps, as freezing water expands and can damage pipework, so make sure they are protected and you won't have to fork out for costly repairs. Ensure outdoor taps are drained fully and provide cover to prevent them from freezing if you can. Adding pipe lagging is advisable and can be quickly done. Water features should also be fully drained and covered.
Plant for the birds
Think about the wildlife over winter and plant berry-rich trees and shrubs like rowan, hawthorn, guelder-rose and holly bushes. These look beautiful through winter and also provide shelter and food for birds.
Mulching is a very popular tactic used by seasoned professionals to safeguard your garden. Applying mulch to your garden creates a blanket to protect it and will reduce soil erosion that occurs following heavy rain.
Surprisingly, this time of year can be good to attack those weeds to prevent them appearing in spring, when prevention becomes harder and you're dealing in suppression.
Protect your plants
Wind, rain, frost, snow, hail - all the elements that need to be kept from damaging or killing off your plants, so that you don't have to buy them again next year. If possible, invest in appropriate cover for your plants - or manipulate natural shelter to give them the best protection.
Plant evergreens
Seek advice on suitable plants to keep your garden attractive over winter - otherwise you're going to be in a cycle of buying new plants every spring. Generally, evergreens are low maintenance and hardy enough to survive - this ensures your garden has some greenery to enjoy during the colder months.
A new benefit for pensioners with disabilities has been rolled out in a pilot scheme in parts of Scotland.
The "pension age disability payment" will support those of state pension age who are disabled, have a long-term health condition or are terminally ill.
It will provide between £290 and £434 per month to successful applicants.
The new benefit will be open for applications in Argyll and Bute, Aberdeen, Orkney, Shetland and Highland council areas from today, but won't be rolled out across the country until next spring.
It will replace the current attendance allowance offered by the UK government, and those already in receipt will have their claims moved to Social Security Scotland in early 2025.
