Rolling Stone once named EmiSunshine among “10 new country artists you need to know,” but she is more than country. The East Tennessee native performs her own unique contemporary blend of roots music that is equal parts Americana, Bluegrass, Gospel, Blues and Jazz. 

Known for her powerful voice and masterful ukulele-playing, the 19-year-old singer/songwriter has been attracting national attention since she was 9 years old, with appearances on Today, NBC’s Little Big Shots, American Idol, WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour, Song of the Mountains, the Grand Ole Opry and elsewhere. In 2018, she was featured in the Grammy-nominated (for soundtrack) Elvis Presley documentary film The King, for which she wrote and performed two original songs—“Johnny, June and Jesus” and “Danny Ray.”

With 10 albums released under her own name and guest appearances on other projects, EmiSunshine’s evolution as a singer, songwriter and musician is on full display. Her critically acclaimed 2019 album, FAMILY WARS, produced by 4-time Grammy-winner Tony Brown, received outstanding reviews in leading music publications, with No Depression describing Emi as “bold and talented enough to tackle today’s issues while honoring yesterday’s folk traditions” and American Songwriter calling her “wise beyond her years.” Her latest album, SIDESHOW, explores themes of lost love, diversity, self-confidence and more.

Emi began writing songs at the age of 5 with help from her mother, Alisha Hamilton, with whom she still regularly writes. She has also written with other acclaimed songwriters, including Jim Lauderdale, Vicky McGehee, the late Kyle Jacobs, Leslie Satcher, Marla Cannon-Goodman, Matraca Berg and more. In 2020, she collaborated with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame funk music legend Bootsy Collins on the song “Stars” to benefit the Recording Academy’s MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund.

EmiSunshine has headlined her own concerts throughout the United States and has also opened for the likes of Loretta Lynn, Rhonda Vincent, Vince Gill, Tanya Tucker and other leading artists. In 2019, she received the ASCAP Foundation Desmond Child Anthem Award for musical excellence and in 2023 was named Independent Entertainer of the Year by the Young Entertainer Awards Foundation in Los Angeles.

She just turned 11 on 6/8, just made her 8th appearance at the Opry last week, with more scheduled, has played Marty Stuart's late night jam 2 years in a row, is opening for Marty in August, in Ga., opening for Willie in Vegas and Ca. II call her genre, Country Mountain Blues, with a Joplinesque Twist! (throw in some gospel for good measure!) Check her out on Youtube, and her FB page, you won't be sorry! But you will, if ya don't! She also has a new youtube show that started this week, Americana Corner, where she interviews performers and sings with them, this week was Holly Williams, Bocephuses daughter, with a new show every week,get subscribed! Her band is The Rain,...and consists of her Dad, Randall Hamilton on Bass, her Brother, Johnathan Letner, on Mandolin, Her Uncle Bobby, Bobby Hill, on Drums, the newest member, Robbie Helton, most recently from the Hatfield and McCoy show, in Knoxville, on guitar.This little girl will steal your heart <3 Your emotions will be all over the place You will smile laugh and cry all at one time Her stage presents is unbelievable Exchanges between Emi and her boys makes you feel like you are sitting in their living room Bring a little Sunshine in your life THANK YOU KINDLY!!

Emi Sunshine and The Rain were AWESOME, as always ! We really enjoy her music and amazed at her talent. She & her Mom write the words & music to Her songs and you can tell how much of their Hearts go into each song. She's also quite amusing. She did call her tunes "Country Music Turned Upside Down". So much talent in the entire Family ! Going back to see her tonight. We saw how Proud her Momma was last night. She was beaming as Emi sang "Jesus Loves Mamma" ❤

I've seen some concerts of EmiSunshine & The Rain but online on the web. She and her band are my favorite artists. I bought her album Black Sunday '35 on iTunes and fell in love with it and Emi. That she's able to write and sing such amazing songs with the help of her family and band is beyond amazing and extremely promising for the future. I can't wait to see concerts of her live in person.

EmiSunshine's show was a stunner. This soon to be 12 year old has power, emotion, humor, pathos and tremendous talent. She has complete control on the stage. She gets better with each performance. She excels in a multiple genres of music.... Traditional country, blues, gospel, rock and others. The show was sold out and wildly appreciated by the crowd who gave her a standing ovation,

Just like sitting on Grandma's porch for a couple hours. Great pickin' and singin'. I could enjoy this experience many more times. Randy, Bobby, John, and Emi are just like family.

Had a great time last night I would go again when she's back in town Sound and lighting was good A wonderful family friendly I wish Emi on her success in the future
