The Best Staterooms in Each of the 10 Categories on the Disney Wish

It’s almost time to book the Disney Wish !  I’m sure you’ve been printing out deck plans, and scouring them for the perfect stateroom, right?  No?  Just me?  Well good news– I’ve done the work for all of us!  Let me tell you, I’d be happy anywhere on this ship, I just want to be on it.  Crew quarters?  No problem.  Soft couch somewhere quiet?  Sign me up.  But hey, may as well aim high, right?  There could be some hidden gems in there!

Before I give my recommendations, I have a few things to note.

disney cruise wish stateroom

  • I’m not going to recommend accessible staterooms. If you don’t need one, please leave them for others who do.
  • I normally recommend avoiding connecting staterooms whenever possible if you don’t need them. On the Wish, that will be pretty hard, as over 900 staterooms connect.
  • There are (obviously) no actual guest reviews of staterooms on the Wish yet. Once we get some, and I get onboard, I’ll rewrite as necessary.  In fact, if Disney releases more information before bookings begin on the 17 th , I’ll update this particular post.  Check back on the 16 th for the most up-to-date information.
  • If you want to compare staterooms to the other four ships, here are my recommendations for those.

So, without further ado, here are my recommendations for each category!

disney cruise wish stateroom

1. Category 1 – There are two (possibly three), very different category 1’s onboard the Wish. SO FAR, we only know of Category 1B – Concierge 2-Story Royal Suite with Verandah, and Category 1C – Concierge 1-Story Royal Suite with Verandah.  Do you see anything missing there?  Like Category 1A?  Why would Disney skip A?  More on that in a minute…  Category 1B and Category 1C’s both look stunning.  The 2-story 1B’s are found all the way forward, and right next to the private concierge sundeck and pool.  Stateroom 13000 is the Princess Aurora Royal Suite, and 13500 is the Briar Rose Royal Suite.  If I had to pick one, I’d go with 13500, because I always choose starboard for Castaway Cay views.  Otherwise, I’d quite happily take either one!  There is one accessible Category 1C, and one regular (if regular is a word that can ever be applied to a Royal Suite) 1C.  So, keeping to my ground rules above, I’ll recommend stateroom 10666.  Interestingly, it’s all the way aft (and down on deck 10), and thus not near the concierge lounge.  But the views should be amazing!  Now what about that 1A?  The 1A hasn’t appeared on a single deck plan or been in a single announcement.  But cruise guru Scott Sanders sniffed out a reference that no one else has found, and he thinks there will be a 1A.  Stateroom 14000.  IN THE FUNNEL.  Can you even imagine?  This stateroom may be so special it merits its own special announcement.  My guess is that we will hear more about that this week.  I don’t see Disney beginning bookings without that one!  Unless maybe it’s not available for booking?  A Make-a-Wish room?  Or a Castle Suite experience kind of thing?  Interesting thought!

Edit – We have the 1A news! It is indeed, a stateroom in the funnel! The Concierge Tower Wish Stateroom! This stateroom is lightly inspired by Moana and is 1966 square feet. There are two main bedrooms, one children’s room and a library that converts to a bedroom! And FOUR AND A HALF bathrooms!! I can’t get over that one. There are floor to ceiling windows, and a porcelain sculpture that comes to live in an “only-Disney-can-do” way. Color me beyond intrigued.

2. Category 2 – The category 2’s look more like the 1-Bedrooms we are used to. They are broken down into two types – Category 2A Concierge 1-Bedroom Suite with Extended Verandah, and Category 2B Concierge 1-Bedroom Suite with Verandah. There are only two 2A’s, stateroom 12000, and stateroom 12500.  I have to say, from the deck plans, it looks like more than the verandah is extended on those two.  But even if not, that verandah looks huge!  Between the two, I will go starboard again, and recommend 12500.  The 2B’s are found on decks 12 and 13.  Deck 13 appears to be more convenient to the concierge sundeck and pool, and deck 12 is more convenient to the concierge lounge.  Pick which of those you would rather be closer to, and then I’d recommend starboard.

disney cruise wish stateroom

3. Category 3 – There are two category 3’s – Category 3A Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah and Category 3B Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom. Category 3B is a brand-new category. Disney has not had a concierge stateroom without a verandah before!  We’ll come back to that.  Like the category 2’s, Category 3A’s are located on decks 12 and 13.  Staterooms 12502 and 12002 do appear to have larger verandahs than any others,  so I’d be inclined to grab one of those if available.  After that, same recommendations as above:  Decide if you would rather be near the pool or the lounge, and then I recommend starboard.  Now for the 3B’s.  They look so cool!  This is actually the first stateroom I’d like to try.  What they lack in verandahs, they make up for in views.  Located directly above the bridge and all the way forward, 3B’s have floor to ceiling windows for what should be some absolutely spectacular views.  The two on the sides look the largest by far.  One of them is accessible, so I would recommend the other – stateroom 11006.  After that, 11000 is dead center and even looks just slightly larger on the deck plan.  Whether the deck plan is to scale or not, that’s got to be a great stateroom.  After that, it looks like 11004 and 11502 have a little more window space, so I would pick one of those next.

disney cruise wish stateroom

4. Category 4 – Category 4’s are known as Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah. There are 4A’s, 4B’s, 4C’s and 4E’s. A-C only denote how high of a deck they are on.  A’s are located on deck 10 and 11, B’s on decks 8 and 9, and C’s on decks 6 and 7.  4E’s are all the way aft on decks 6, 9 and 10, and have extended verandahs!  Category 4’s are where we first encounter the bumpouts.  The Disney Wish is the first ship Disney has built with a bumpout along the sides, and it has two!  I’ve sailed on a ship with a bumpout before, and while it doesn’t affect the views looking straight out from your verandah, it does slightly affect the views from side to side.  While category 4’s are the only kind of staterooms on the bumpouts, they are not all on the bumpouts.  I’d probably pick a stateroom on a bumpout if possible.  The staterooms on the center of the bumpouts do seem to have slightly larger verandahs though, so those would be my first recommendation.  For 4E’s the staterooms on decks 9 and 10 are more convenient to the pool deck, but the 4E’s on deck 6 (staterooms 6196 and 6696) look to have both a bigger configuration and huge verandahs!  I’d pick those first.   My only caution would be parts of decks 10 and 6.  We just aren’t sure of the impacts of pool deck noise from above when you’re on deck 10, or the entertainment noise from below when you are on deck 6.

disney cruise wish stateroom

5. Category 5 – Category 5’s are what most of us picture when we picture a normal stateroom. Known as a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah, they tend to be my go-to category. I don’t think any of them are in bad locations, although I would offer the same cautions as above for decks 10 and 6.  The hidden gems here for me would probably be the ones on the edge of the bumpouts.  On deck 10, for example, 10544, 10546, 10044, and 10046 all appear to have bigger verandahs.  The ones toward the front of the bumpout would have a slightly better view facing forward, and the ones toward the back would have a slightly better view facing forward.  So, pick your desired view, and decide if starboard matters to you when you’re picking.  If you are interested in the far aft of the ship with what may be a bigger verandah, try 6198, or 6698.  Interestingly, those appear to be category 5’s and not 4E’s.

6. Category 6 – Category 6’s are still called Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah. They are similar to category 5 but have a slight obstruction on the verandah–not usually a huge one, though.  If it follows along the pattern of the staterooms on the Dream and Fantasy , it should be fairly minimal, like a short solid wall on the bottom of the verandah.  Category 6’s are all found aft on decks 6, 7, 8 and 9.  They should all be fairly similar, so I would pick a starboard one.  It also appears that 8192 and 8690 are 6A’s on the back of the ship, which means they may have a big verandah!

7. Category 7 – Category 7’s are still called Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah, but they should have a bigger obstruction than a category 6. It looks like they are similar to the 7A staterooms on the Dream and Fantasy, with an overhang of metal from the structure of the ship. They’re located on decks 6, 7, 8 and 9.  If I had to guess by looking at the concept art, I would guess that deck 6 staterooms have the least obstruction.  But concept art is just that – a concept.  Much can change when the ship is actually built!

disney cruise wish stateroom

8. Category 8 – Category 8’s have that magical word – “Family” in their title, which means they fit 4-5 guests, instead of 3-4 guests like most other staterooms. They are called Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms, and there is one interesting thing to note about these! There are no 8A’s!  That’s sad news for those that love category 8A’s on the Dream and Fantasy, which are known for their massive size and double portholes.  8B’s and 8C’s are all aft or forward and look to be the same. It’s possible that 6510-6512 and 6012-6014 may have some noise from things that haven’t been announced yet, but that’s also hard to tell at this point,  so, my recommendation is starboard.

9. Category 9 – Category 9’s are the regular oceanview staterooms, and are called Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms. Because of the angle of the ship, 9D’s have slanted portholes. There are a few options here to note.  There are some category 9’s on the front of the ship on deck’s 6, 7 and 8 that look big. In fact 8006, 8504, 7006, and 7504 look huge!  7004, 7502, and 6500 also look oversized although they will have the slanted porthole if that matters to you.  Some of the oceanviews on deck 2 will butt up to the Walt Disney Theatre, so there’s a chance that they have a little bit of noise.

disney cruise wish stateroom

10. Category 11 – The first thing you may notice about these Standard Inside Staterooms, is that that’s all there are! There are no category 10’s (Deluxe Inside Staterooms) onboard the Wish. That basically means there are no split bathrooms in any of the inside staterooms.  I think that’s an interesting choice, given that Disney pioneered the split bathroom concept onboard cruise ships, and they were included in many inside staterooms on the other four ships.  But that’s their choice, and make it they did.  They also said there will not be any virtual portholes which is another interesting choice!  Is it possible there is more to be announced about the inside staterooms?  Like virtual verandahs?  Not according to the concept art!  But again – concept.  Looking at the options here, 11529 and 11511 look intriguing.  If those drawings are accurate, I’m not sure what’s happening there!  But it could be a good space.  Some on the starboard side on deck 2 look to have an interesting shape.  And two, 2061 and 2055, on the port side look like they are the sideways layout that some people love!  7533 and 9525 could also be sideways layouts.

That’s it, that’s my list.  I hope this helps on booking day.  Good luck, and may the Force, may the odds, all of that.  Let me know if you see anything I missed or have any questions!

We are looking at our first disney cruise. We are trying to decided between the Wish and the Magic. We will be in an accesability room. We have 6654 on the Magic and 9680 on the Wish. As first time cruisers which ship would you recommend? I just don’t want to make a mistake.

Also I am traveling with a 17 year old and 14 year old who love pirates and marvel.

For deck 2 staterooms, would it be less noisy under the grand hall and shops or under restaurant 1923?

I got assigned to 8179 stateroom. does it feel really clausthrofobic?

for a family who has motion sickness issues and also considers noise a factor would you chose 1090 or 6090. I know it is all a gamble at this point.

It is hard to know for sure! 6090 would be better for motion. I probably wouldn’t be too worried about noise there either. Even if there are some loud events in there, they wouldn’t be early, and would probably never go past 10 pm, with the possible exception of the last night!

You mentioned that Deck 6 may have issues with noise from below, but very little of it is above what I would consider noisy venues (with the exception of dinnertime – a good portion of it is above Arendelle (the new Frozen restaurant).

I agree, I wouldn’t worry about a lot of deck 6. But there are some possible noise issues during dinner (I suspect the Frozen show will be loud twice a night, and one of those will be late at night for little ones) and above the Grand Hall for any activities there. It definitely remains to be seen if either of those are a problem, just something to be aware of when picking! 🙂

Essential Guide to the Disney Wish Staterooms

Posted on Published: 05/06/2024

Dinsey introduced its fifth ship in the fleet, the Disney Wish, in 2022. This ship is in a brand new class, the Triton class, with some major design differences from the Dream class and the Magic class of cruise ships.

While the stateroom categories and general layouts will seem familiar to some guests, there are some distinct differences. Here’s our essential guide to the Disney Wish staterooms, which should help you make a decision on what to book.

Disney Wish docked at Castaway Cay with small beach in the foreground (Disney Wish staterooms post)

I’ve had the opportunity to sail on the Disney Wish twice now, and have enjoyed it. The first sailing was a four-day cruise that was extended to six due to Hurricane Ian in the Caribbean, so I had plenty of time to thoroughly explore the ship.

The Disney Wish offers 1,254 staterooms (including 53 concierge staterooms and 23 concierge suites) and can accommodate up to 4,000 passengers (depending on stateroom occupancy) and 1,555 crew members. The number of concierge rooms on this ship surpasses the past ships, which can make booking some experiences a little more challenging if you don’t have this type of room.

While the Disney Wish is slightly larger in gross tonnage (GT) than the Dream class ships, the number of passengers is about the same. The restaurants, activities, and amenities on the Wish are different from the other ships, making it fun to explore even if you are very familiar with the cruise line.

Types of Staterooms Rooms on the Disney Wish

The general types of staterooms on the Disney Wish are similar to the other ships. The most popular type of room is a verandah stateroom, which is how Disney refers to those rooms with balconies.

There are 1,254 staterooms, which include 53 concierge staterooms and 23 concierge suites. In this number, there are 1,133 outside staterooms (with 948 verandah staterooms and 185 oceanview staterooms), and 121 inside staterooms.

When booking your stateroom, you may find an option for GTY (or a guaranteed stateroom to be assigned). With this type of room, you’ll save some money, but won’t be able to choose your stateroom location. You will, however, be at least guaranteed a specific category of room.

Otherwise, you can choose your specific stateroom right when you book. It’s a good idea to take a look at the layout of the ship before you book so you’ll have a good idea of where to stay.

On this particular ship, there are only two elevator banks – one in the aft and one in the forward. There are no midship elevators on the Disney Wish. Prices generally vary a bit based on location.

Accessible rooms are also available. You’ll want to choose a specific accessible stateroom when booking

Here are the various Disney Wish stateroom options:

Standard Inside Stateroom – these rooms can either sleep three or four. There’s a queen bed and a single convertible sofa.

Those rooms that accommodate four also have an upper berth pull-down bed (making bunk beds over the sofa). As the name implies, these are interior rooms with no exterior views.

Oceanview Staterooms – these rooms do have a view, but not a verandah. Instead, you’ll have a porthole that you can look out of to see the ocean.

Within this category, there are regular staterooms as well as deluxe family staterooms. The deluxe family staterooms can sleep 4 to 5 – some of them have a pulldown Murphy bed in addition to the convertible sofa, upper berth pull-down, and queen bed. Be sure to confirm the configuration before you book.

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah – this is the most popular room type on the Disney Wish. It includes a queen bed, a convertible sofa, and an upper berth pull-down bed. These rooms have a verandah, which is a nice balcony where you can enjoy some time watching the ocean. Verandahs also add some extra space because you’ll be able to go outside right from your room.

If you need more room or have a family of five, there’s also a Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah. There are fewer of these but they are great because they also have the pull-down Murphy bed in addition to the other bedding options. I like these rooms for families with older kids because they may not want to sleep in the top bunk.

The Disney Wish also offers concierge staterooms. These rooms offer concierge benefits which include the following. These are great amenities but do come with an extra cost:

  • Ability to book activities and premium dining in advance – 130 days before your set sail date when contacting the Shoreside Concierge Associate team, and 123 days if you book online
  • A dedicated concierge to assist with booking activities
  • Priority boarding at the port to save time with shorter lines
  • Dedicated concierge sun deck (can be great on a hot day when lounge chairs are hard to come by)
  • Access to the concierge lounge which offers food throughout the day as well as an open bar in the evening

Here are the types of concierge rooms: Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah – these rooms have 1 king bed, a convertible sofa (single), an upper-berth single pull-down bed, and a single pull-down Murphy bed. Note that while these rooms have upgraded touches, they are still staterooms and not a suite.

Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom – Some of these sleep four, while others sleep five. The rooms that sleep five have the same bed configuration as the Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah, and the ones that sleep four just don’t have the pull-down Murphy bed.

These rooms don’t have verandahs and instead have floor-to-ceiling windows that look out into the ocean.

Concierge 1-Bedroom Suite with Verandah – these rooms sleep five with one bedroom with a king bed and a separate living room area with a double convertible sofa and single wall pull-down bed. There are two full bathrooms in these rooms including one bathroom with double sinks. There’s also a wet bar with sodas and water as well as a walk-in closet.

Concierge 1-Bedroom Suite with Extended Verandah – these rooms are the same as the one above, but have a larger, extended verandah.

Concierge 1-Story Royal Suite with Verandah – there is one of these concierge suites, located on Deck 10. It offers two bedrooms, three bathrooms, a walk-in closet in each bedroom, a verandah with a hot tub, a wet bar with soda and water, a living area, and a dining area.

Concierge Wish Tower Suite – the most exciting stateroom on the Disney Wish is the one-of-a-kind Concierge Wish Tower Suite. This two-story, Moana-themed suite is located on decks 14 and 15 in the funnel. It has private elevator access.

The Tower Suite offers a two-story living area, a spiral staircase, two main bedrooms, a children’s room, a combo library/bedroom, four and a half bathrooms, two walk-in closets, a wet bar stocked with soda and water, and a dining area. It’s an extremely luxurious suite, and there is only one of them on board the Disney Wish.

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

Most families will find that the Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah is the perfect combination of amenities and cost for their vacation. While it isn’t nearly as luxurious as the suites, this stateroom category is great for a family of three or four.

These rooms include the popular split bathroom that other Disney ships offer. While each of these bathrooms has a sink, one has a toilet and one has a shower. This is perfect for families because two people can be getting ready at the same time.

This room also includes a cooler (similar to a refrigerator), a television, lots of USB outlets and standard outlets, a hair dryer, a safe, a desk, and a closet. While I’d prefer standard drawers for clothes, the Disney Wish has more open shelves. You may want to bring packing cubes which can be a great way to keep your clothes organized.

Ready to go forward?

Awesome ...you’re now ready to evaluate the various stateroom options available on the Disney Wish cruise ship.

Table of Contents

Inside staterooms, oceanview staterooms, verandah staterooms, concierge staterooms, royal suites.

Inside staterooms are the most budget-friendly options onboard the Wish.

They are usually the smallest staterooms and do not offer a window or balcony to the outside.

On the Wish, even the inside staterooms are built to inspired a sense of enchantment. Built around Disney story themes, there is a surprising amount of room and storage in every cabin.

Two Variations of Inside Staterooms

There are two variations of Inside Staterooms: those that accommodate 3 or 4 guests.

In staterooms that sleep 4, you can pull down an upper-berth bunk bed. Above this bed, you'll find original artwork on the ceiling that has an enchanting message from the Fairy Godmother.

Below are more details about the “Standard” Inside Staterooms:

Oceanview Staterooms found on the Disney Wish are called "Deluxe Oceanview" and "Deluxe Family Oceanview".

The difference?

Deluxe Family Oceanview rooms are slightly bigger in square footage and can sleep up to 5 guests.

All Oceanview cabins are very similar to the Deluxe Inside Staterooms, except they offer a real porthole with a view outside of the ship.

Here are the specifications:

If you want to be able to sit outside on a private open-air balcony, then a Verandah Stateroom is the way to go.

Two Variations of Verandah Staterooms

There are two variations of Verandah Staterooms: Deluxe and Deluxe Family.

The difference? Deluxe Family offers a little more square footage and can sleep up to 5 (instead of only 4).

Below are more details about the “Deluxe” and “Deluxe Family” variations of Verandah Staterooms and how they differ:

Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms with Verandah: Disney Wish

  • Category 4E has an oversized verandah that is about 2.5 times bigger than the standard verandah.
  • Category 4 staterooms have standard verandahs with clear Plexiglas railings & dividers.

MS Disney Wish ship has 1238 staterooms, most of which are the midship-located Balconies. All cabins and suites are well planned and equipped with the cruise industry's latest amenities.

Like on all DCL ships, passenger staterooms on Disney Wish by sizes are ranked among the industry's largest standard cabins, designed to easily accommodate four people. Cabins are with ample storage space, lounge/living area and split bathrooms (1 room with shower-bathtub-sink-WC, and separate toilet-sink). Beds on are raised to allow underbed storage for 2 medium-sized suitcases. Each cabin has as standard amenities 2 mirrored vanities with chairs, 22-inch smart HDTV (satellite reception, infotainment system), iPod docking station, 2 rechargeable "Wave Phones" (for shipwide use).

Most Disney Wish cabins (~90%) are outside (Suites, Balconies, Oceanviews). Cabin categories include three "Guaranteed" categories: VGT-Balcony, OGT-Oceanview, IGT-Inside. One of the ship's largest staterooms are the Royal Suites, featuring a separate living room, wet bar, kitchenette (small cooking/dining area), media library, outdoor/balcony Jacuzzi.

Follows the review of MS Disney Wish staterooms as furniture, amenities and included (complimentary) services.

All standard cabins have Queen-size double bed (convertible to twin beds, wooden frames), wall-mounted reading lamps and bedside cabinets, ample under-bed storage space (for suitcases), Posturepedic Sealy mattresses, deluxe bedding sets (Frette Egyptian cotton linens/100%), spacious wardrobe (full-length mirror), full bathroom (glass door, single-sink vanity, bathtub, WC-toilet, glass shower, hairdryer, premium bath towels), H20+ spa products (by the brand "H2O Plus" / shampoo, conditioner, moisturizing body butter), living area separated by a curtain (with double sofabed, mirrored vanity table/desk with chair, built-in drawer dresser), 43-inch smart HDTV (infotainment system), USB-charging ports, refrigerator/drawer mini-bar, electronic safe box and lifejackets (in the closet), direct-dial phone (voice mail), LED-lighted full mirror, individual air-conditioning.

Most staterooms are quads and furnished with double beds (convertible), single sofabeds, 1x upper bunk or 1x Murphy bed (wall bed/pull-down bed). "Family cabins" are with King-size beds (non-convertible), single sofabeds and bunk beds (Pullman) and accommodate up to 5 passengers. A heavy curtain divides the living/sleeping areas.

All Suite passengers enjoy the following perks (bonus amenities and services): Disney-themed artworks, marble-top bathrooms (upgraded bath products, robes/slippers), luxury mattresses and bedding sets (including feather duvets, pillow menu), daily in-cabin dining (canapes, fresh fruits), console gaming table, 2 large HDTVs, BlueRay/DVD /CD player (with media library), board games, priority services (check-in, DCL cruise itinerary ports of call tendering), access to exclusive areas (Concierge Lounge and sun deck), free Internet, pre-dinner cocktails. Suite passengers also enjoy concierge services: (DCL cruise shore excursions booking, specialty dining-nursery-spa reservations, special requests, private parties/celebrations planning and assistance, in-room dining (all main restaurants menus).

  • Royal Suites have a master bedroom (plus hidden in the wall double pull-down and single pull-down bed), master bathroom (dual sinks, closet, whirlpool bathtub), large living room, dining area (pantry, wet bar), guest bathroom (shower, sink, WC), floor-ceiling windows, wrap-around private balcony (whirlpool bathtub).

Most 1-Bedroom Suites are with connecting doors, Queen bed (convertible to twins), sitting/lounge area with double sofabed, 1 pull-down bed (in the living room), walk-in closet, 2 bathrooms (one with a whirlpool hot-tub).

All balcony staterooms feature a private step-out veranda accessed via sliding glass doors (kid-proof locks), plexiglass railings, outdoor deck furniture (2 chairs, 1 small table). Categories 6A-6B have wall balconies, while categories 5A-5B-5C are plexiglass. Family Verandahs are with concierge service and have a Queen-size bed (or 2 twin beds), a hidden bunk bed, a larger living area (convertible sofabed), split bathroom. Category 4E cabins are with expanded balconies (twice bigger than standard balconies) but are open to views from above.

Most Oceanview staterooms have a Large Round Window (Porthole/non-opening). Of those, categories 9C-9D are with obstructed views (due to lifeboats). Family Oceanview (category 3B) is the largest.

DCL's innovative Inside Cabin features (industry's first) "Magical Portholes" - large, round-shaped LCD screens (positioned above the beds) projecting real-time outside views which are provided by the ship's cameras. Veranda Cabin's balcony is fitted with 2 deckchairs and a low table.

In mid-May 2021 DCL introduced the "Wish Tower Suite" - the fleet's (and the industry's) first-of-its-kind loft suite integrated into the forward funnel/smokestack. The unique accommodation is sized 1965 ft2 (183 m2) and with interior design inspired by Walt Disney's 3D animation film "Moana" (2016).

  • The Wish Tower Suite accommodates up to 8 passengers and features 2x master bedrooms, 4x full bathrooms, half-bath (powder room), library (converting to a bedroom), kids' room (with built-in bunkbeds). The living room (on the lower level) is flanked by an open dining area, a pantry, and a bar, all offering unique views across the ship's upper decks through a 2-story window wall.
  • The master bedrooms are both on the Penthouse's upper level and have walk-in closets, King-size double beds, floor-ceiling windows (overlooking the living area below). The main bathrooms each have rain-head showers, double-sink vanities, spa bathtubs.
  • Wish Tower Suite is designed with Disney-style iconography, custom-made artworks and ornaments, and materials themed on Moana's Oceania world. The predominant color patterns are soft white and calm blue. The film-inspired interior decorations also include a custom-made canvas piece with Moana sailing on the sea, dimensional props (Moana's village), and a sculpture composed of shiny objects (interpretation of the collector crab Tamatoa's dazzling collection). The kids' room features a sparkling constellation pattern lighting up the ceiling.

The "Category 1A" loft suite's guests can expect royal service from a dedicated concierge team, an array of curated experiences, a selection of daily treats, private elevator access. Each stateroom or suite on the Disney wish is assigned a category number. These start at 1A for the exclusive Tower Suite, all the way down to 11C for the cheapest inside cabins.

The table below shows all of the different room categories on the Disney Wish, along with how many people can sleep in each room and the size, including the balcony.

On any cruise ship, some rooms are less desirable than others. If you’re choosing a stateroom on the Disney Wish, I recommend you grab a copy of my free checklist that will help you avoid any rooms in bad locations:

If you’re specifically booking for a larger group, check out my guide to the Disney Staterooms and Suites for Big Families .

Now, let’s take a closer look at each of the different rooms on Disney Wish that you have to choose from.

Disney Wish Tower Suite

Category 1a.

Disney Wish funnel suite

The top suite on the ship is the Disney Wish Tower Suite. Unlike anything that’s gone before, this gorgeous suite is located inside the funnel, which gives it the nickname of Disney Wish Funnel Suite.

There’s only one Tower Suite on the Disney Wish, and it’s in high demand. The price of a cruise in this suite varies depending on the sailing and how many people are staying in it. But you can expect to pay somewhere between $30,000 and $100,000 for a three- or four-night cruise.

Due to its unusual location inside the ship’s funnel, the Tower Suite doesn’t have a balcony. However, it does have two main bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, a large two-storey living area, a dining room, a library, a pantry, a bar and a grand spiral staircase.

On the other side of the funnel is a large TV screen. The Slide-a-saurus Rex slide begins from within the funnel, and the AquaMouse slide passes right through. These are demonstrated below by myself and Donald Duck…

Cruise Mummy and Donald Duck outside the Disney Wish Funnel Suite

The Funnel Suite sleeps eight people comfortably. The two main bedrooms each have king-size beds, there’s a children’s bedroom with bunk beds, and another queen-size bed comes down from a wall in the library.

The Tower Suite has five televisions, motorised blackout blinds, and real feather duvets with a choice of pillow options. Guests will enjoy the use of robes and slippers as well as free Wi-Fi for the whole cruise. The decor is inspired by the movie Moana.

Disney Wish Royal Suite

Category 1b (2-story royal suite) and category 1c (1-story royal suite).

Disney Wish Royal Suite Bedroom

Disney Wish has two types of Royal Suite: a two-storey option and a single-storey option. There are two of each category on the ship, each with decor inspired by the classic elegance of Sleeping Beauty.

The 2-Story Royal Suites are located right at the front and top of the ship on Decks 13 and 15, next to the Concierge Private Sun Deck. Suite 13000 is the Princess Aurora Royal Suite, while 13500 is the Briar Rose Royal Suite.

These are arguably the best suites on the ship. Each has two main bedrooms, three full bathrooms, a large living area, an open dining room, pantry, wet bar and a large verandah with a whirlpool tub.

The single-storey Royal Suites are around 14% smaller than the 2-Story Royal Suites. However, some would say that the location at the aft corners of Deck 10 is better, with less wind and swaying to contend with.

10666 is the Briar Rose Royal Suite, and 10166 is the Princess Aurora Royal Suite. 10166 is an accessible suite so it has wide doors, a ramped threshold to the balcony, and other facilities to assist guests with limited mobility or other special needs.

The 1-Story Royal Suites have all of the same amenities as the double-storey Suites, including that all-important hot tub on the balcony!

To help you choose your cabin on Disney Wish, I’ve created a cabin checklist that you can get for free. Just enter your email address below, and you’ll receive it in your inbox straight away.

Disney Wish 1-Bedroom Suite

Category 2A (1-Bedroom Suite with Extended Verandah) and Category 2B (1-Bedroom Suite with Verandah)

There are 18 1-Bedroom Suites on the Disney Wish, of which two have the extended verandah. While the regular 1-Bedroom Suites are rectangular, the Extended Verandah 1-Bedroom Suites are oddly shaped with a huge verandah at the front of Deck 12.

Each 1-Bedroom Suite sleeps five guests. They have a separate bedroom with king-size bed, a living area with a double convertible sofa bed, and a single bed that pulls down from the wall.

Each Suite has two full bathrooms, a living room, a wet bar, luxurious decor inspired by Tangled, two TVs, robes, slippers and 100MB of free Wi-Fi.

For guests needing accessible accommodation, Suite 13510 is the one to go for, while 12026 is suited for guests with hearing impairments.

Disney Wish Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom

Category 3a (concierge family oceanview stateroom with verandah) and category 3b (concierge family oceanview stateroom).

For families who want the Disney Concierge benefits (more on those below) without the expense of a full Suite, the Concierge Family Oceanview Staterooms are ideal.

Those on Decks 12 and 13 feature a verandah, while those on Deck 11 instead have floor-to-ceiling windows looking forwards just above the bridge. The rooms without a balcony are a little larger, particularly if you go for one of the corner rooms. 11504 is reserved for guests with mobility needs, but 11006 is a large room that can be booked by anyone.

Each stateroom sleeps four or five guests with a king-size bed, single sofa bed, single Pullman bed, and an extra bed that pulls down from the wall in some rooms. The decor is inspired by Tangled.

Disney Wish Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

Category 4a, 4b, 4c, 4e.

Disney Wish Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

For families of five, or those wanting a little more space but without the Disney Concierge-level benefits, the best staterooms on Disney Wish are the Deluxe Family Oceanview with Verandah rooms.

This is the room I stayed in when I cruised on the Disney Wish. You can read more about that in my Disney Wish review .

The different letters in category 4 – A, B, C and E (I’m not sure what happened to D) – relate to the location on the ship. 4A are in the best spot on Decks 10 and 11, while the others are a little further away from the open decks.

The 4E staterooms on Disney Wish are located at the aft of the ship on Decks 6, 9 and 10. These have huge balconies and views over the aft. I would say that these could be the best rooms on Disney Wish, for the money.

When you look at the Disney Wish deck plan , you’ll see that there are ‘bump-outs’ on Decks 6 to 10. These are areas where the ship extends outwards. If you choose a category 4 stateroom on a bump-out, you’ll benefit from a larger balcony. So these are worth looking out for.

I stayed in room 9556, which is on the bump out. The balcony is pretty big, as you can see from my video tour below:

Each Deluxe Family Oceanview room has a queen bed, a single sofa bed and a pull-down bed. Those rooms that sleep five have an additional pull-down bed from the wall.

Here’s where you’ll find the Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandahs:

  • Category 4A: Decks 10 and 11
  • Category 4B: Decks 8 and 9
  • Category 4C: Decks 6 and 7
  • Category 4E: Decks 6, 9 and 10

Disney Wish Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

Category 5a, 5b, 5c, 6a, 6b, 7a.

Disney Wish Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

The most popular stateroom type on the Disney Wish is the Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah. This is akin to what would be called a standard balcony stateroom on most other cruise ships.

Sleeping three or four people, each room has a queen bed and a single sofa bed. Those rooms that sleep four also have a single pull-down bed.

Again, you’ll want to study the deck plan carefully, as those that are located on the bump-outs have bigger balconies for the same money.

Category 6 staterooms on the Disney Wish all have a slight obstruction to the view, although I expect that this will be minimal, such as a solid wall at the bottom. If this worries you, go for category 5.

Category 7 staterooms on the Disney Wish have a ‘Navigator’s Verandah’. These balconies are a little more enclosed than a standard verandah, with a large open-air porthole. On Carnival ships, they’re known as Cove Balconies .

In this video, you can see what a Navigator’s Verandah looks like on the Disney Magic:

Here’s where you’ll find the Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandahs:

  • Category 5A: Deck 10
  • Category 5B: Decks 8 and 9
  • Category 5C: Decks 6 and 7
  • Category 6A: Decks 8 and 9
  • Category 6B: Decks 6 and 7
  • Category 7A: Decks 6, 7, 8 and 9

Disney Wish Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom

Categories 8b & 8c.

Disney Wish Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom

Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms have a large round window instead of a balcony. They each sleep either four or five guests and are a little larger than the Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms, with an extra 21 square feet of floor space (around 8% more).

Each room has a queen bed, a single sofa bed and a pull-down bed. Those rooms that sleep five have an additional pull-down bed from the wall.

Here’s where you’ll find the Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms:

  • Category 8B: Decks 8 and 9
  • Category 8C: Decks 6 and 7

Disney Wish Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom

Categories 9a, 9b, 9c & 9d.

Disney Wish Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom

Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms each sleep three or four guests, and have a large porthole window. If you choose category 9D, the window is slanted.

Each room has a queen bed and a single sofa bed, with some also having a single bed that pulls down from the wall or ceiling.

Category 9B staterooms are all on Deck 2. This is a handy location for the Oceaneer Club, but it’s a long way up to the open decks. If you don’t like to use elevators and prefer to take the stairs, this might be a category to avoid.

Here’s where you’ll find the Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms:

  • Category 9A: Decks 7 and 8
  • Category 9B: Deck 2
  • Category 9C: Decks 7 and 8
  • Category 9D: Decks 6 and 7

Disney Wish Inside Staterooms

Categories 11a, 11b and 11c.

Disney Wish Inside Stateroom

The cheapest staterooms on the Disney Wish are Guaranteed Inside Staterooms. With this option, you don’t get to choose your stateroom number. It will be assigned to you based on what’s available closer to the sailing date.

Guaranteed Inside Staterooms are likely to be the worst rooms on the Disney Wish, although arguably there are no bad rooms on this ship. Plus you have the chance of getting a great one, and may even be upgraded to Ocean View if all of the inside rooms sell out.

The worst staterooms on Disney Wish are category 11C. As well as having no window or natural light, these are located right down on Deck 2, far away from all of the action. For a better location, choose an 11A or 11B stateroom and try to get one that’s not too far from the elevators.

Inside Staterooms on Disney Wish are the only ones that don’t feature Disney Cruise Line’s signature split bathrooms. Your toilet will be in the same room as your bath, rather than in a separate room. But you do at least get a bathtub, even in the cheapest inside room. And that’s something reserved for Suite guests on most other cruise lines.

Here’s where you’ll find the Standard Inside Staterooms:

  • Category 11A: Decks 9, 10 and 11
  • Category 11B: Decks 6, 7 and 8
  • Category 11C: Deck 2

About Disney Wish Concierge Rooms

Disney Cruise Line Suites and selected Staterooms are classed as Concierge Level. These come with some extra in-room amenities and some extra perks.

Here’s what you get :

  • Access to VIP areas of the ship, like the Concierge Lounge
  • Down Duvets and Pillow Menu
  • Robe and Slippers
  • Free Wi-Fi (not unlimited)
  • Chance to pre-reserve activities
  • Services of a Concierge Host
  • Surprise gifts

For more details about exactly what you get with Disney’s Concierge level (and whether Concierge is worth it on the Disney Wish), take a look at my full guide to Disney Cruise Concierge Perks .

Which deck to choose?

The best deck to stay on Disney Wish depends on your own personal preferences. Deck 7 is popular because you’re surrounded by staterooms above and below, so noise is limited. But if you want to be near the pool, choose a higher deck.

Choosing a room

Whichever room you choose on the Disney Wish for your cruise, you’ll enjoy a range of amenities, including:

  • USB and USB-C ports
  • Large vanity
  • Refrigerator
  • Full-length mirror
  • Climate control
  • Privacy curtain
  • Queen bed and pull-out sofa beds
  • Deluxe toiletries

If you’re on a tight budget, the Inside Staterooms will be more than adequate. I stayed in an Inside Stateroom on the Disney Magic with my family of four, and it was lovely.

You can read what I thought of it here: Disney Magic Cruise Review .

If you prefer a balcony, then my preference would be to go for a category 4E stateroom. These are very spacious, with large balconies and the best views over the wake.

If money is no object and you want something truly magical, then the Tower Suite inside the funnel is the one to go for. Assuming it’s still available for your dates, that is!

I Never Thought I'd Enjoy a Disney Cruise — The Wish Proved Me Wrong

As a travel expert, I'm breaking down the deck plan, dining, activities and more — plus, I'm sharing insider tips to ensure you have the best experience.

We've been independently researching and testing products for over 120 years. If you buy through our links, we may earn a commission. Learn more about our review process.

An overview

Ship details & highlights, kids' clubs, entertainment & activities, cruise itineraries, getting there, embarkation and disembarkation, how it compares to other disney cruises, bottom line: is the disney wish worth it.

Whether you're a fan of Disney, an avid cruiser or are just looking for a unique travel experience, Disney cruises are known for bringing stories to life and creating unforgettable experiences. As the fifth and largest ship in the Disney fleet, the Wish is known for its top-quality entertainment and immersive activities for a fun-filled sailing.

I recently sailed on the Disney Wish with my family of four (including two kids). I've visited Walt Disney World with kids over a dozen of times and have sailed on a variety of cruise lines, but this was my first time sailing on a Disney ship. Besides experiencing the cruise firsthand, I was also able to take tours onboard and meet with the Disney Cruise Line team to learn more about the ship and its offerings. I also spoke with other passengers to hear their experiences and takeaways.

So is the Disney Wish worth booking? Ahead, I'm breaking down everything you need to know to decide whether sailing on the Disney Wish is the right vacation for you. And if you've already decided that it is, this insight includes plenty of tips to make it a successful trip, including what I learned and what I wish I knew before I sailed.

a mother and daughter posing in front of the disney wish

The Disney Wish is fairly new; it first set sail in 2022. It's the largest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, holds 4,000 passengers and has 1,254 staterooms. It's also the first ship in its class, meaning the newer models to come in the near future are going to be similar in layout. The ship departs from Port Canaveral (the closest port to Walt Disney World; it's about an hour away from the theme parks) and sails in the Bahamas, with itineraries that are typically between 3-4 days long.

My biggest takeaway from sailing on the Wish was just how much it offers — and the fact that it offers something for everyone . On past cruises, I sometimes felt like I had to search for things to do in order to fill up my day, but on the Disney Wish it felt like there was always something fun and exciting happening. From themed restaurants and bars to unique attractions at sea to live entertainment, character meet & greets and much more, I was amazed by how much my family was able to do in just one day. The Wish also stood out for incorporating a wide-range of Disney franchises, including Star Wars, Pixar and Marvel.

Disney decor

As a lifelong Disney fan, one of the thing I loved most about the ship was its attention to detail. From the outside you can see a Rapunzel figure that appears to be painting the Disney Wish emblem on the back of the vessel, but the inside is filled with hidden touches that are fun to look for.

The Grand Hall (i.e., the main atrium) makes it feel like you're inside a castle when you first walk onto the ship. Not only is there a statue of Cinderella, but the chandelier is designed as an upside-down version of her gown. There are also subtle nods to Cinderella in the rug, light fixtures and more.

Even the art onboard has lesser-known details that were fun to learn about, often with a unique story behind it. I highly recommend signing up for the hour-long walking tour of the ship if you're a Disney fan, art fan or would just like to learn more about the hidden gems.

While the Grand Hall is the main hub indoors, the pool deck is main hub outdoors. It's made up of six small pools named after Mickey and friends. The focal point is a giant screen called Funnel Vision, which shows Disney movies throughout the day. This space is also home to entertainment, including a sail away party as the ship embarks and live shows during Pirate Night. Behind the screen, there's a Toy Story- themed splash area for young kids ages 6 and under and a family-friendly water slide called Slide-a-saurus Rex.

disney wish pool deck with funnel vision screen

The coolest part of the pool deck area is AquaMouse , Disney's first-ever attraction at sea. You sit on a two-seater inflatable and head into a tunnel with animated scenes from The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse . It then turns into a water ride, including a clear tunnel slide that extends over the side of the ship. Though AquaMouse is known to have lengthy waits throughout the sailings, we found there to be certain times of the day when there was little to no wait. For instance, the mornings of port days when other passengers have headed ashore and around dinnertime.

disney wish aquamouse

Adult-only areas

Just above the pool deck is quieter area of the ship for guests 18 and over. Here you'll find the Quiet Cove Pool, Signals pool bar and Cove Café. This area is located at the back of the ship, giving excellent views when the cruise is docked in the Bahamas . There are also some adult-only bars located throughout the ship.

Indoor venues

One of the things that stood out most compared to other cruises I've been on was how many indoor spaces there were onboard the Wish. We'll explore these spaces when going over entertainment and activities, but from a top level, there's a show theater, movie theaters, sports complex, kids' club for each age group, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, salon, barbor shop, spa, fitness center and more .

Laundry room

Whether or not to do laundry on vacation is highly debatable, but to me, access to a self-service laundry room was one of my favorite aspects of the ship. We combined the vacation with time at Walt Disney World, so knowing that I could do laundry onboard (without having to pay the high costs of sending out for the laundry service) made packing much less stressful. And because I paid with my room pass (it's $3 per machine), I got alerts on my phone via the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App when the washing machine and dryer cycles were finished. This room even has ironing boards, which is a perk given that you can't bring irons or steamers on board. Called Fairytale Fresh Laundry, this space is located on Deck 8 Forward (i.e. the front).

A note on crowds

One thing to keep in mind is that compared to other cruise lines I've sailed on, I noticed more crowds on the Wish than on other ships. It wasn't constant, but it may be helpful to plan around lines at certain times and locations. For instance, there were often lines to get onto the elevators (located at the front and back of the ship) so my family and I opted to take the stairs as much as possible. There were also lines to get into dining reservations, though they did move quickly. It was sometimes difficult to find a good viewing spot for the outdoor shows on the pool deck, so you should go earlier if you want a good view (just like you would for a show at Walt Disney World).

That being said, the overall vibe of the crowds felt fun, casual and spirited compared to other cruise lines. Guests decorate their doors with magnets and participate in "pixie dusting" (the term guests use to randomly surprise each other with small trinkets and gifts). We experienced rain when we were visiting Castaway Cay (Disney's private island in the Bahamas) and as I rode the tram back to the ship from the beach, other passengers were cheering on guests who were walking through the downpour. This camaraderie felt like a perk of choosing a Disney vacation.

There are 1,254 staterooms onboard the Wish. 90% of them face outside the ship, while 10% are interior. Here are the main room types:

These rooms are 169 square feet and like other staterooms, they sleep up to 3-4 guests with a queen bed, a single convertible sofa and a pull-down bed from the wall.

Available as a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom (218 square feet, sleeps 3-4) and a Deluxe Oceanview Family Stateroom (237 square feet, sleeps 4-5), these rooms have a porthole window.

Available as a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah (243 square feet including verandah, sleeps 3-4) and Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah (284 square feet including verandah, sleeps 4-5), these rooms have an outdoor balcony.

Available in a series of staterooms and suites, this top-tier class offers upgraded amenities, a concierge to help with your planning and more add-ons.

My family of four stayed in a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah. On other cruises that we had previously sailed on as a family, we had opted for larger family rooms with more space. I admit that I was a little nervous about the four of us sharing this stateroom; however, I was pleasantly surprised and found this to be the most functional stateroom we've ever stayed in. Here's what I specifically loved about our room:

My kids slept on the "bunk beds" (i.e., a pull down sofa below and a pull-down berth above) and there's a substantial curtain that separates this area, meaning I could continue to clean up and be productive after my kids went to sleep.

There was a  ton  of storage in the room, including cabinetry in the vanity area and deep shelves in the closet area. I've always struggled to unpack on other cruises, but I had plenty of space in this stateroom without having to live out of our suitcases. (I packed in  clear, zippered organizers  that went right into the closet shelves.) We could fit all of our luggage under the queen-size bed, and the room had hooks throughout to hang up wet bathing suits and other essentials. And although we weren't traveling with another party, our room did have a connecting door, making it a great choice for larger groups.

Split bathrooms

One bathroom has a toilet and sink, while the other has a shower and sink. What I found to be extremely rare is the size of the shower, which includes a bathtub. This made it much easier to bathe kids compared to other cruises.

The art varies in each room, but my kids loved the Moana-themed art behind the bed in ours. And when the bunk beds were pulled down, there was a celestial design on the ceiling with the phrase "When You Wish Upon a Star." Overall, I found the design of the room to have subtle and tasteful nods to Disney without making it feel excessive.

the disney wish deluxe oceanview stateroom with verandah

The restaurants for dinner were next-level fantastic when considering service, food and theming, though the breakfast and lunch offerings weren't quite as good as other cruise lines I've sailed with. This comes down to more crowds and less variety during the day. Still, as a whole, I thought the Wish dining was excellent. Here are more details on the dining experiences that are included in the cost of the cruise (except for alcohol and a few other optional add-ons).

Dining rooms

One of the most unique (and exciting!) aspects of this cruise was the rotational dining for dinner. You dine at each of the three themed restaurants, but your waitstaff follows you so that you have the same servers each evening. This means they get to know you and your preferences — and they can have any special requests ready for you each night. For instance, my daughter ordered chocolate milk the first night, and there was chocolate milk waiting for her each night thereafter.

There are three themed restaurants: 1923 (inspired by the golden age of animation when The Walt Disney Company was founded), Worlds of Marvel (a super hero-themed venue with an interactive show) and Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure ( a celebration of Queen Anna and Kristoff's engagement, with characters and live performances from the Frozen movies ). Each of these restaurants have a themed menu based on the venue, and of course, there's a kids' menu at each. Because we sailed on a 4-night cruise, everyone repeated a dining room twice, but the second time was with the Pirate Night theming and menu.

There are two dinner seatings that you can request when you book. We opted for the earlier dining time and went to dinner around 5:45-6:00 pm. This was an ideal time for us our family to eat dinner, but we did feel a bit rushed to get ready after a jam-packed day of activities, so there's certainly an appeal to eating at the later time, around 8:00-8:30pm. Each dinner was about an hour-and-a-half long, but didn't feel too long (even with kids) given the multiple courses and interactive components.

Quick-service

The buffet on the ship is called Marceline Market (named after Walt Disney's home town) and is similar to other cruise lines in the sense that it offers a variety of stations. Most items are served to you from the stations (instead of helping yourself), which I appreciated from a cleanliness standpoint. It's only opened for breakfast and lunch.

The Wish also has a food court area called Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods , which is located right near the pool deck. Its offerings include grill food, pizza, barbecue, Mexican fare and ice cream. Because the buffet closes after lunch, this is the only place to pick up food during a few hours in the afternoon and we experienced long lines during a late lunch.

mickey and friends festival of foods

Room service

My family typically ordered room service for breakfast; you leave your order on your cabin's door handle the night before and select a 30-minute window for delivery . We also ordered it a couple of times during the day and it arrived fairly quickly (within around 20 minutes). Insider tip: It's not on the menu, but you can order a Mickey ice cream bar to your room with room service. There's no extra charge, but you can leave a tip for delivery.

Additional dining options

There are a variety of venues throughout the ship that cost extra. Although they're not included in the price of the ship, some are definitely worth visiting — for coffee, cocktails, desserts and more — depending on your preferences.

  • Cafés : I'm personally a fan of iced coffee drinks, so I opted to buy my morning brew rather than go for hot coffee from room service. Our preferred spot was the Cove Café, located on the adult-only deck, where I got cold brew to go in the morning and latte with Disney designs later in the day. (To be honest, the latte art was a huge highlight of my trip!) Other options include The Wishing Star Café (inspired by Pinnochio ) and The Enchanted Sword Café (inspired by The Sword in the Stone ), which are both located in more common areas of the ship.

  • Bars & lounges: There are a variety of bars and lounges to choose from throughout the ship. Standouts (in my opinion) include Nightingale (an adults-only piano bar with hand-crafted cocktails inspired by Cinderella's “Sing Sweet Nightingale"), Bayou (a stunning, kid-friendly lounge inspired by Princess and the Frog with delicious beignets) and Hyperspace Lounge (an adults-only Star Wars -themed spot with immersive details).

nightingale's piano bar on disney wish

  • Desserts : Regardless of whether you want extra sweet treats, it's worth a visit to Inside Out: Joyful Sweets. There are life-size figurines of the Inside Out characters and a display of memory spheres from the movie that make for great photos. Plus, the dessert offerings — including gelato, cupcakes and more — are both photo worthy and decadent.

disney wish inside out joyful sweets

  • Adult-only restaurants: My husband I dined at Palo, an Italian steakhouse inspired by Cogsworth from Beauty and the Beast . The brunch was fantastic — even the focaccia bread — and we enjoyed having an adult-only meal while our children enjoyed the kids' club. Another adult-only option is Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement for French-inspired cuisine.

Disney Wish had — by far — the best kids' clubs I've seen. They're broken up into four age groups, and I was able to take a tour of all four with cruise staff. My kids were both in the 3-10 age group and couldn't get enough of the club. This meant my husband and I could enjoy some of the adult-only spaces throughout the ship while my kids were (literally) having the times of their lives.

One thing to note is that we often experienced a line at the kids' club, and once had to wait twenty minutes to pick up our kids around 8:15 p.m. So keep in mind that you should buffer in some pick-up time if you're on a schedule, especially around dinner and showtimes. Also, make sure to leave time to register your child on the first day (you can even start this process during online check-in before you sail). You can attend open houses during select times, where you're able to explore the clubs with your children. Here's a breakdown of each of the four clubs:

"It's a Small World" Nursery (Babies & Toddlers)

This space is designed for ages 6 months to 3 years old. It has mats for playing, tables for crafts, cribs for naps and more. From a decor standpoint, this was one of my favorite spaces in the ship, with characters from Disney movies designed into their home countries.

Oceaneer Club (Kids)

This is the biggest kids' space on the ship for ages 3-10. It's made up of a series of themed rooms with different activities happening in each. The club uses bands (or kids can bring their own MagicBand+), which lets staff know what room a child is in at any given time. Disney characters join in on the fun, giving kids more face time than typical meet & greets. These events are for kids only and scheduled times can be found in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App during your sailing. Here's a look inside to show what makes this space so special.

Kids can get checked in through a desk at the club level, or they can get checked in one story above and take a slide down into the club. There are fully automatic handwashing stations immediately upon entering, which kids got a kick out of.

Designed for the younger ages in this club, this is a nautical-themed room with climbing and crawling structures as well as interactive elements, including a screen and wheel that lets kids feel like they're steering the ship.

Pixar-Themed Bathrooms

While this isn't a play space, it's still a hit. Each stall is themed with a Pixar character, and the room contains a row of the kid-favorite hand-washing stations.

Edge (Tweens)

The next kids' club level is for 11-14 year olds. This place is designed just for tweens: It has an urban loft vibe with big screens and gaming areas. There's a good mix of free play with structured activities.

Vibe (Teens)

Offering older teens their own space, Vibe is for 14-17 year olds. It also looks like a loft, but includes retro vibes and amazing views from floor-to-ceiling windows. This space offers screens for movies, games like foosball and plenty of space to hang out.

Disney Wish evenings are designed to be dinner and a show, meaning you're scheduled to see Broadway-style shows in the main theater either before or after your dinner reservation. The three shows include "Disney Seas the Adventure" (which combines favorite songs and characters from a variety of Disney classics), "The Little Mermaid" (which is a modern take on the original story) and "Aladdin" (which has special effects and a comical Genie).

Theme nights & parties

When the cruise sails away on the first day, there's a show on the pool deck with classic Disney characters. You can view it from the pool deck or the deck directly above, which overlooks the space. I tend to skip sail away parties on other cruise lines, but was told this one is a can't miss, and it turned out to be true. This party was a great way to kick off the excitement for the rest of the cruise. It does get crowded, so try to arrive 15 minutes early if you'd like a good viewing spot.

On Pirate Night, mosts guests dress up in pirate-themed gear. Some people go all out with costumes, while others are more subtle. (My family brought pirate accessories and parrot shoulder props to wear.) There were two shows during our sailing's Pirate Night: "Pirates in the Caribbean" was held earlier in the evening and includes favorite Disney characters. Pirate's Rockin' Parlay Pater was held later at night with a pirate-themed rock band and fireworks. This was another highlight of my trip; seeing fireworks at sea is not something you'll find on other cruise lines.

disney wish sail away party

There are two movie theaters onboard: The Wonderland Theater (inspired by Alice in Wonderland ) and The Neverland Theater (inspired by Peter Pan ). Both of these show popular Disney movies throughout the day, including movies only in theaters at the time. You can also access a range of Disney movies from your stateroom.

Onboard activities

Like other cruises, you can find a schedule of big events and low-key activities happening throughout the cruise. My daughter participated in a door hanger decorating activity on the first day and liked being able to hang it in our stateroom for the rest of the cruise. We also heard from other passengers that Bingo was a hit. One thing to note is that unlike most major cruise lines, Disney does not have casinos on its ships.

The Wish also offers a simple yet special goodnight activity called a Kiss Goodnight. Located in the Grand Hall, guests will hear a song and see the lights twinkle. During our sailing, guests could watch a Kiss Goodnight at 7:30 p.m., 10 p.m., 11 p.m. and 12 a.m., offering multiple opportunities to experience this popular winding-down moment.

Recreation center

The Wish has its own indoor sports complex called the Hero Zone, which is unique because many ships only have outdoor areas for sports. Y ou can play basketball, pingpong, corn hole and other games most of the time. This space is also used for the Incredi-Games, an inflatable obstacle course that is typically only set up once during the cruise. It's designed for two people at a time (one on each side), meaning you can make it a friendly competition. Note that you'll need socks to enter this course.

Character Meet & Greets

The ability to meet characters on board is a huge draw for families, especially those with young kids. You can check when the characters will be available for scheduled meet & greets on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App. Most of these meet & greets take place in the Grand Hall area and have lines (especially popular characters like Mickey, Minnie and friends), so be prepared to wait up to 20-30 minutes to take photos.

There's also an event called the Royal Gathering, where you can make a reservation to meet several princesses at once in the Grand Hall. These reservations are made in advance and book up quickly. During our sailing, we met Rapunzel, Tiana, Belle, Moana and Cinderella, but the specific princess are subject to change.

disney wish rapunzel meet and greet during the royal gathering

Beyond that, we interacted with Captain Hook and Captain Jack Sparrow when we walked off the ship at Castaway Cay, Disney's private island. We also saw Spiderman at the Marvel-themed dinner and Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Oaken at the Frozen-themed dinner, though these interactions are more brief.

Shopping & retail

There are several stores onboard that are opened when the ship is at sea. We browsed the jewelry stores and Mickey's Mainsail for souvenirs, which had a good amount of items for those looking to take home a souvenir tied to the cruise. That being said, my kids preferred to save their souvenir purchase for a store at Walt Disney World, which offers a bigger variety of products.

Kids can visit Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, a store and salon combo that transforms them into princesses, knights or sea captains. (There's also an option for a pirate makeover on Pirate Night.) This experience is known to fill up fast, so make sure to book in advance; though you can certainly try once you're in board in case there are any cancellations.

Spa & fitness

Senses Spa offers massages, facials and other treatments. There's also a salon called Untangled Salon (inspired by Rapunzel), where services include hair styling, manicures, pedicures and more. Lastly, there's Hooks Barbery (inspired by Captain Hook's headquarters) for grooming services, including shavings and haircuts. There's even a hidden bar for speakeasy-style whiskey tastings. I personally didn't visit the spa or salon during our sailing, but my husband had a shave and said it was a great experience.

disney wish hooks barbery

The fitness center is an adult-only space with views overlooking the water. It seems on par with other cruise lines, including workout equipment, weight machines and group fitness classes. You can also opt for personal training sessions.

Disney Wish offers sailings ranging from 3-4 nights long, leaving from Port Canaveral and sailing to the Bahamas. The stops can include Nassau, Bahamas; Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point . We sailed on a 4-night cruise and stopped in Nassau, Bahamas and Castaway Cay. I've typically taken week-long cruises with several stops, but found the 4-day length to be a perfect amount for this cruise (plus we spent some time in Orlando during our trip). My family and I didn't disembark at Nassau, Bahamas; I've been there several times and wanted to experience more onboard the ship, but we did explore Castaway Cay.

Disney Castaway Cay

When it comes to cruising, I'm a big fan of the cruise line private islands because the convenience: It's easy to get around and get back to the ship in a timely matter without having to worry about all of the logistics. This held true to Castaway Cay; we played at the beach, had lunch at Cookie's Too BBQ (a buffet that's included with your cruise package), rode Pelican's Plunge (a large water slide) and much more.

a view of disney castaway cay from onboard the disney wish

One thing to keep in mind if you visit: We couldn't find any open chairs on the beach when we arrived. This had never happened to me on other private islands, but chairs did eventually open up after lunch time. If you plan to spend a lot of time on the beach, it's worth getting there early to secure a spot.

Port Canaveral is located about an hour away from Orlando and Walt Disney World Resort. My family rented a car and parked in the lot at Port Canaveral, but there are also rental car locations near the port with shuttles that can get you to the ship terminal after you drop off the car. It's also easy to book bus transfers to and from Orlando airport and Walt Disney World resorts through the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App.

Embarkation and disembarkation were surprisingly smooth with no hiccups or issues to report. Just keep in mind: There was a long line when we pulled up to drop off our luggage and there was a long line to disembark the ship on the final morning. These lines moved steadily and did not put a damper in our overall cruise experience. Another tip: Cast members handed out Disney Wish wands to kids in the Grand Hall when you enter, so make sure to keep an eye out for these.

disney wish grand hall embarkation day

The cost will vary based on the date and room type, but you can expect the price to start around $1,000 a person. I checked sailings for 2025 to include two adults and two kids, and found that Ocenview rooms for a 4-day cruise ranged from starting at $4,600 to over $8,000 depending on the dates. While Disney cruises certainly aren't cheap, the price covers a lot , including top-notch dining, Broadway-style live shows, one-of-a-kind activities and much more.

There are four other cruises in the Disney fleet: Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Magic and Disney Wonder. While there are a lot of similarities overall (like having exceptional kids' clubs, unique dining experiences and character meet & greets), the ships vary based on dining venues, entertainment, activities and theming. However, the biggest differentiator between the Disney Wish and most other Disney cruises is the itinerary. Disney cruises sail from all over the world (ports of call include locations in Florida, Texas, California, Australia and Europe). The Disney Wish currently sales from Port Canaveral to the Caribbean, so it's ideal for looking to combine it with a trip to Walt Disney World.

The Disney Wish won't be the newest for long: The Disney Treasure will be setting sail in late 2024. The Treasure is in the same class as Wish, meaning the ship layout is similar. However, the Treasure's theme is "adventure" and its itineraries will be 7-nights long in the Caribbean. Disney Cruise Line also recently announced it will be adding four new ships to its fleet, including the Disney Destiny, which is another in the same class as Wish but will have a heroes and villains theme, as well as additional ships sailing in Asia.

We had a chance to meet with the hotel director, Alberto, and cruise director, Christaan, during our sailing. When asked what they thought made the Disney Wish different from other cruises, they highlighted aspects like the fireworks — currently it's the only Disney ship that has the fireworks show synchronized to the music — and the indoor spaces, allowing for more flexibility with activities.

disney wish hospitality director and cruise director

Yes; at least, my family thinks so! I've sailed on a wide range of cruises and found that the Disney experience was unlike any other. The main highlights that made it so exceptional were the top-notch kids' clubs, unique dining experiences and spot-on theming throughout. I also appreciated that the shorter itinerary allowed us to stack on time in Orlando to our trip.

That being said, the Disney Wish is not for everyone. If you're a fan of the Disney parks but have never cruised before, it's important to consider what a cruise entails. There are a few aspects I heard first-time cruisers complain about on the Wish, but are normal aspects for cruising — like smaller pools, not being able to visit the stores when the ship was in port and having to put their luggage out the night before debarkation if they didn't want to carry it themselves.

I found that the Disney Wish was especially great for families, including extended families. There was truly something for everyone, covering different age groups, Disney franchises and activity preferences. All in all, this is one of the best vacations my family has ever experienced.

Disney Wish Stateroom 7128 Tour – Category 4C Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

During the christening cruise aboard the Disney Wish, I stayed in stateroom  7128 , a Category 4C Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah. In general, the deluxe family oceanview stateroom with verandah category offered on the Disney Wish is about 284 square feet with the room offering a split bath, queen bed, single convertible sofa, upper-berth pull-down bed, and a single wall pull-down bed (Murphy bed) if sleeping 5 which this room does.

Disney Wish Stateroom 7128 Entrance

Stateroom 7128 is located on the port side of deck 7 in close proximity to the aft elevator lobby. A connecting stateroom door to stateroom 7130 is opposite the Murphy bed.

The staterooms on board the Disney Wish offer a number of USB and USB-C port near the desk and both sides of the bed.

Over at the desk/vanity you will find a mini-drawer refrigerator. It is a pull out drawer, not the typical “cooling box” reminiscent of a mini-fridge found on the other ships.

My family went on a $6,000 Disney World vacation and a $5,900 Disney Cruise. The latter was a much better deal.

  • Last year, my family of four went on a Disney World vacation and took a Disney cruise.
  • On the Disney cruise, we got to see different places and explore new countries.
  • The vacations cost about the same amount of money, but the cruise was a better value.

Insider Today

As a travel planner at Marvelous Mouse Travels , clients often ask me if I prefer Disney cruises or Disney World vacations.

My family did a split trip where we spent four days at Disney World and four days on the Disney Wish, which gave me a great insight into the differences between the two options.

Here's why I think the cruise was a much better value.

We started our trip at Disney World with fun in the theme parks.

disney cruise wish stateroom

While in Orlando, we stayed at our favorite resort , Yacht Club, which has easy access to both Hollywood Studios and Epcot.

Throughout the trip, we explored all four parks by purchasing park-hopper tickets, and my family had a blast riding our favorite rides, eating with characters, and shopping for souvenirs.

It was a jam-packed four days, and they were long. We woke up early to get to the parks and returned to our hotel late after the nighttime shows.

After factoring in our hotel stay, park-hopper tickets, and all our meals, our total came to $6,000.

We loved the theme-park vacation as much as always, but we were excited to get to the next part of our trip.

After visiting the parks, we boarded the Disney Wish for a four-night Bahamian cruise.

disney cruise wish stateroom

Stepping aboard the Wish for the first time was breathtaking. It's filled with exquisite designs and unmatched attention to detail. It also looked impeccably maintained and offered classic Disney service.

As we settled in and explored the ship , characters greeted us around every corner, which added to the magic.

Our four-night cruise in a deluxe family ocean-view stateroom with a veranda cost $5,900, including meals.

Throughout our cruise, we experienced so much of what the ship had to offer.

disney cruise wish stateroom

Disney Cruise Line has an app named Disney Cruise Navigator that shares all the daily activities. Most are complimentary, and there's always something to do .

My kids hung out in the kids' clubs, saw movies, and played at the pool and gym. As a family, we saw Broadway-caliber shows, participated in family trivia, and ate at fun restaurants (including a Marvel dining experience and "Frozen" dinner show).

While our kids were supervised, my husband and I enjoyed the adults-only lounges and activities.

disney cruise wish stateroom

The kids were supervised when they hung out in the club, so my husband was able to do a fun beer tasting, and we both loved doing a wine tasting .

My favorite adventure was enjoying a massage at the Senses Spa, followed by a great glass of wine at the Rose Lounge.

There's also the adults-only Quiet Cove Infinity Pool, where you can have a drink or read a book, and adults-only brunch and dinner available at Palo or Enchanté.

At Disney World, it's almost impossible for us to appreciate adults-only activities when we're with our kids .

You can hire a babysitter or seek out the kids' club at Camp Dolphin inside the Dolphin Hotel . But these services aren't included in your stay, and I find them much more difficult to arrange.

Another great perk of the cruise was getting to explore different places.

disney cruise wish stateroom

Disney Cruise Line has itineraries all over the world including Alaska, Europe, Hawaii , and the Caribbean. On this trip, we visited Nassau in the Bahamas and Disney's private island, Castaway Cay.

We also took a day trip to the Atlantis resort, and my kids had a blast at the water park .

Castaway Cay offers a relaxing and fun beach day. We snorkeled, built sand castles, ate a delicious barbecue lunch, and basked in the sun.

The cruise ended up being more affordable, and I think it was a better value overall.

disney cruise wish stateroom

A Disney Cruise might look pricier on the surface, but after we factored in the cost of meals and drinks at Disney World, the value of the cruise was more apparent.

Plus, the number of activities offered — for both kids and adults — made for a relaxing and fun experience.

If you haven't experienced a Disney Cruise , I highly recommend it.
