The Disco Biscuits Gather Fans In Iceland For Tranceatlantic Ft. Cloudchord, Karina Rykman, Dogs In A Pile [Photos/Videos]

The Disco Biscuits last weekend hosted their three-day Tranceatlantic destination event in Reykjavik, Iceland with Cloudchord , Karina Rykman , and Dogs in a Pile .

The Biscuits delivered six sets over three nights—though the nights felt more like days, with daylight lasting up to 18 hours—plus a VIP set and a special “Taste in Music” SPAGA set featuring Aron Magner , Jason Fraticelli , and Matt Scarano . The shows included opening sets by Cloudchord, Karina Rykman, and Dogs in a Pile, and each opener played a separate show of their own.

The event took place at the world-famous Harpa Concert Hall and drew fans from all around the world. During the day, fans and the band were able to explore the scenic countryside, and at night, they gathered at the exquisite venue for nonstop dance parties that will go down in the band’s history as some of its finest shows.

Night one started strong with “Magellan” and was highighted by a first set-closing “Floes”, the first-ever inverted “Another Plan of Attack”, and an outstanding “House Dog Party Favor” > “Orch Theme” sandwich. The Disco Biscuits made sure the trip worth it on night two with the live debut of original song “Falling” and a 25-minute “Save The Robots” jam. Then, on their last night in Reykjavik, the Biscuits played fan favorite “Helicopters” and a monster improvisational jam to start the second set, as well as newer tunes “One Chance to Save the World” and “Why We Dance”.

Other Tranceatlantic highlights included a sold-out Karina Rykman late-night at Idno , where she debuted a cover of “Army of Me” by iconic Icelander Björk , with Isaac Slone taking the bass from her so she “could front-woman that s—,” as she put it. Rykman has developed a longstanding relationship with tDB, having opened for them in Cleveland, Buffalo, and twice in Burlington just this year.

The Disco Biscuits will head to Summer Camp Music Festival this weekend for the festival’s final full edition before hitting the road for a run of East Coast tour dates in June. They will then embark on a West Coast tour with stops in several cities the band has not visited in more than ten years and others the group will perform in for the first time. I left the show at 10.30 PM , had some dinner ( pasta and an excellent key lime pie) , had a manicure, a Brazilian then jogged 15 miles, showered and went back to the show and Disco Biscuits were still playing the same piece. DB strike me as not nearly as cool as the fans think they are, nor are the fans as cool as they think they are. Lots of Williamsburg whiskers. I've seen Pink Floyd - their pieces are long - a cover version does not need to be longer. I tried DBs once. Done.

I got to see the amazing and amazingly talented Disco Biscuits live in 2013. They put on a truly excellent performance. The light show was amazing and well thought out in time with the music. The drum solos were excellent and some of the best I have ever heard in my entire life. The guitar and bass had amazing riffs that made you sit up and take notice of both individually each time they played. The vocals were perfect for the genre and the lyrics were both fun and funny while being intriguing and interesting at the same time.

They were a band that is clearly in love with music of all kinds and it showed in that performance.The audience at times did not know what to think, they found themselves in awe of their amazing musical talent, but it was not a song you could really move around to so they just stood there, slack jawed.

Eventually people started to clap along to the faster songs and showed their love for the band this way. I loved that concert and think these are some of the best musicians I have ever seen perform live. Every one should see Disco Biscuits perform live at least once in their lives.

The Disco Biscuits Announce 2024 Tour Expansion

In the wake of a monumental 2023, The Disco Biscuits are set to embark on an even more ambitious journey in 2024. The iconic band, known for their fusion of electronic and rock elements, have announced a robust winter/spring tour, aptly named the Why We Dance Tour.

The band’s 2023 highlights included over 70 shows, a triumphant return to the West Coast after more than a decade, and the successful launch of their new festival, BISCOLAND. Far from resting on their laurels, The Disco Biscuits are gearing up for an equally eventful 2024.

The Why We Dance Tour had 13 previously announced dates set for the New Year and with today’s announcement, have an additional 20 newly added shows, with two more yet to be shared. The tour starts with the band’s return to the West Coast for the second consecutive year, followed by a journey across the Northeast. Notable stops include two nights at Silver Spring, Md.’s Fillmore, two nights at Buffalo, N.Y.’s Town Ballroom, their first Pittsburgh show since 2007, and a rescheduled date at Portland, Maine’s State Theatre.

April will see The Disco Biscuits return to New Orleans for the first time since 2022’s Jazz Fest, followed by a series of dates across the South, including unusual stops in Louisville, Ky., Houston, Nashville, Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and Dallas – cities they haven’t visited in over a decade.

The Disco Biscuit’s Marc Brownstein expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming tour, stating, “We are so excited for these late winter and spring dates! 2024 starts off with a bang and is filled with amazing venues, some of which are new to us like Stage AE, College Street, and the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, while some are old faves like the Kirby, the HOBs in Boston and New Orleans, and ultimately the Tabernacle. We are looking forward to heating up the country from west to east this winter and spring!”

In addition to the extensive tour, The Disco Biscuits have expanded their festival lineup for 2024. Joining the previously announced Tucson’s Gem & Jam Festival and Austin’s Texas Eclipse Festival, the band will now be featured at Michigan’s Electric Forest.

An artist presale will start on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 12 p.m. ET, with the password WHYWEDANCE24. Tickets will be available to the general public on Friday, Dec. 8th, at 12 p.m. ET. VIP Packages for all shows will be offered during the pre-sale and on-sale periods.
