How to Plan a Memorable 4-Day Trip to Hyderabad?

4 days trip from hyderabad

traveller Iram

Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana is a blend of old-world charm and new age vibrancy. Therefore, a Hyderabad 4 days itinerary should ideally cover the major historical landmarks of the city as well as modern-day attractions.

While the historical royalty of Qutub Shahi & Nizam era in Hyderabad is preserved in its palaces, monuments, and minarets, its modern side boasts of thrilling entertainment parks and bustling shopping malls. Along with this, the divine Haleem, Hyderabadi Dum Biryani, Double Ka Meetha are some delicacies that make it a city like no other.

In my blog, I guide you along a 4-day journey across Hyderabad’s great history, modernity, the tehzeeb and of course the delicious cuisines.

Hyderabad Itinerary - 4 Days

Hyderabad 4 Days Itinerary for Vistors Travelling The City for The First Time

My son’s vacation was about to start in a few days. We wanted a break from the monotony and the routine of hectic everyday life. So, we decided to pack our bags for a four-day trip to Hyderabad.

I am sharing with you my Hyderabad 4 days itinerary to explore and experience the grandest and most lively modern Indian cities full of the richness of history and culture. Here is a quick overview, before I delve into the details.

Day 1: Exploring the Most Iconic Sites Hyderabad

On our first day in Hyderabad, we decided to explore some of the most iconic places in the city. These include historical monuments, famous markets and some celebrated eateries.

Visit the Serene & Beautiful Birla  Mandir

We started our Hyderabad Trip with a visit to this beautiful temple made in white marble. The whole aura of this place is extremely peaceful and breathtaking.

What makes the experience of visiting the place more special is the fact that phones or cameras are not allowed inside. Therefore, one can mindfully enjoy the bliss and architecture of the place.

We visited the temple early morning and enjoyed the panoramic view of the city from the temple.

Hyderabad 4 Days Itinerary

Salar Jung is a treasure trove for art lovers. I especially loved the ivory section

A Trip to Hyderabad is incomplete without a visit to Salar Jung Museum

No art lover or history enthusiast should miss the Salar Jung museum. Situated on Salar Jung road, the white building looks very beautiful in daylight.

The museum showcases over 50,000 displays and within 3 buildings. I was stunned by the vast collection including amazing swords, shields with designs, vessels, books written in the 11th century, oriental artifacts, Egyptian carpets, European glassware, Indian handicrafts, etc. However, the famous double-sided statue of the veiled lady was my number one pick here.

The unique character of the museum is to preserve the heritage of India by improvising on digital techniques. The facility of audio tour is also available.

Hyderabad Food

When in Hyderabad, make sure you try Biryani

Bon Appétit at Hotel Shadab, for the Love of Authentic Hyderabadi Biryani

After being stumped by the artifacts in Salar Jung we headed to Hotel Shadab for lunch.  The hotel is a perfect tribute to the lovers of traditional authentic Hyderabadi dum Biryani.

We placed an order for the much-awaited Hyderabadi Dum Biryani with Mirchi ka Salan. When served, we could feel the superb aroma. We thoroughly enjoyed the tasty, aromatic and flavorful Biryani along with tangy, spicy Salan. It was truly a content meal both in terms of our appetite and taste.

‎Apart from Dum Biriyani, they serve Kebabs and mutton in all verities, and during Ramadan,  haleem .

Shop for Hyderabdi Souvenirs at Laad Bazar

Laad or choodi bazar is quite close to the Charminar, which is undoubtedly the most popular tourist spots of Hyderabad. This place has almost everything that a woman can have in her shopping list.

The market offers a wide range of coloured lac bangles,  zari and embroidery works, sarees, traditional clothing, bridal wear, semi-precious stones, etc. Laadbazar pearls are equally famous as well.  Authentic Hyderabadi pearls to junk jewelry; all are available in a wide variety, that too   at quite economical prices!

I purchased colorful set of Lac bangles and pearls jewelry as a souvenir for my family and loved ones.,If you have ample time to explore and bargain then this is the best place for shopping.

Hyderabad 4 day trip

Chowmahalla Palace is a must-visit destination for its historical significance and architecture.

Get Mesmerised by the Beauty of the Splendid Chowmahalla Palace

The palace is almost 200 years old and was once the official seat of the Asaf Jahi dynasty. It is known for its magnificent architecture and awe-inspiring beauty.

The grand chandeliers, glasses (shisha) around, colourful walls, shaped domes and white exterior polishing of the palace would make you stay there for hours. Here you can also see the old coins, weapons and costumes used during the rule of Nizams.

There is a beautiful and well-maintained garden all around the palace. Once you start for the exit you will find water fountains and pigeons hovering around it. There is also a shopping area where you can purchase souvenirs.

Hyderabad 4 Day plan

Charminar is globally recognised as the landmark structure in Hyderabad.

No Hyderabad 4 Days Itinerary is complete without Witness the Architectural Masterpiece Charminar

This majestic architectural masterpiece of the city stands at the heart of the old city of Hyderabad. The Charminar was built by Mohammad Quli Qutub Shah in 1591. The structure is square, with a central pointed high arch at the center.

The minarets, their domed finials, are 180 feet tall from grade level. The whole edifice contains numerous small decorative arches arranged both vertically and horizontally. We climbed up the structure to see the crowded marketplace below.

It is situated close to Laad Bazar and Mecca masjid.

Hyderabad 4 Days Itinerary

Makkah Masjid or Mecca Masjid, is one of the largest mosques in India with a capacity of 10,000 people

Feel The Spirituality In the Air at Mecca Masjid

Mecca masjid is located adjacent to Charminar in the Southwest direction. It finds a place among the largest mosques in India.

The architecture of Mecca Masjid represents the styles of the Qutub Shahi dynasty. The Mecca Masjid can accommodate up to 10,000 people.

We could feel spiritual tranquillity pervading the air inside the mosque. Mecca masjid is one of the most popular tourist spots of Hyderabad attracting not just devotees but almost everyone.

Ending the first day in Hyderabad with Dinner at Paradise Food Court

If you can’t tolerate spicy food, Paradise is the best option for Hyderabadi food at a reasonable rate. For vegetarians, veg biryani is available as well.

They also serve various kebab items and haleem. I would recommend Zafrani Biriyani, which uses plentiful saffron. They also serve lots of (less pleasing) Chinese and continental dishes.

There are over a dozen Paradise restaurants across the city including a large, modern branch at Khairatabad.

DAY 2:  Exploring Some Old World & New Age Icons in Your Hyderabad 4 Days Itinerary

After an exciting first day in the city, we were looking forward to the second day with equal eagerness. On our second day of Hyderabad 4 days itinerary, we explored something new and something old.

Hyderabad trip plan

Golkonda Fort is a Heritage site that preserves the history of Telangana.

Visiting the Magnificient Golconda Fort in Hyderabad

Majestic Golkonda Fort is located in the city’s western parts. For those who are enamoured by stories of love, valor and perfidy, visit to the 16th-century fortress – Golconda Fort is highly recommended.

Golkonda is one of the most famous attractions in Hyderabad. If one claps his hand at the fort bottom part, its echoes can be felt even at the top of the structure.

During evening you can catch a glimpse of the jaw- dropping sunset view from the top most parts of this fortress. You can also enjoy the popular light and sound show.

Hyderabad Trip Itinerary

Located near the Golconda Forts, the tombs offer a splendid look into the past.

Witness The Glory of Qutub Shahi Tombs

The Royal family tomb complex lies about 1km away from the north of the outer perimeter wall of Golkonda fort. It is a world-famous heritage site and consists of Tombs of seven Qutub Shahi Rulers.

The seven kings of Hyderabad and their families lie here, entombed by beautiful Iranian-styled arched tombs. Each was constructed in their lifetime so that after death the world could remember them.

You can also see the influence of Indian, Pathan, Deccan as well as Persian styles in the structure of Tombs.

Magnificent Cable-Stayed Bridge at Hi-Tech City deserves a Spot in your Hyderabad 4 Days Itinerary

After Qutb Shahi we set out to explore the new Hyderabad i.e. Hi-tech city or Cyberabad. It is one of the premier commercial hubs in Hyderabad. It is filled with office parks and is buzzing with Indian, Italian and BBQ restaurants.

Hyderabad added a new landmark with the opening of a cable-stayed bridge across Durgam Cheruvu lake in hi-tech city. The Durgam Cheruvu cable Bridge is another jewel in the city of pearls.

A key feature of the structure is architectural lighting, which attracts locals and tourists alike.  It is a must-visit sightseeing place in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad 4 Days 3 Night

IKEA Store is not just a place for home furnishing but is also an amazing place to taste some authentic Swedish food.

IKEA Hyderabad: Catch A Glimpse of Swedish LifeStyle in Hyderabad

The store is located in a hi-tech city and is India’s first such store. IKEA is the best place to purchase your good quality home furnishings at reasonable prices.

If you are love home furnishing as much as I do, I highly recommended seeing and experiencing the compelling designs of furniture, kitchen appliances and home accessories.

We found many items to be budget-friendly and purchased cutlery items for our dining table, lamps and lighting for living room and plants for the balcony. IKEA also has a huge collection of soft toys that made my son go awww so we purchased panda for him.

Witness & Shop for the hinterland’s art and handicrafts at Shilparamam

Shilparamam is a village-themed centre for arts and crafts, located in the hi-tech city. You can view and shop for some beautifully crafted goods here.

Apart from the handicrafts, there are plenty of activities that you can indulge in like boat riding, relishing some chaats & snacks, nature walk, etc.

Hyderabad Itinerary Day 3

Day 3: Spend the Day in and Around Hyderabad’s Hussain Sagar Lake

The third day of our Hyderabad 4 days Itinerary was dedicated to exploring the places in and around the Hussain Sagar Lake.

Start the Day by Visiting Asia’s Largest Manmade lake- ‘Hussain Sagar’

This artificial Hussain Sagar Lake beautifies the city gracefully. At the lake centre, you will find a giant monolithic statue of Gautam Buddha.

The lake has become a popular recreational spot that attracts visitors of all age groups. For all the tourists visiting Hyderabad Husain Sagar is a must-visit place.

Regular boating facilities are available till the statue. We experienced the perfect adrenaline rush, by taking speed boating. The thrill of cruising through a speedboat on Hussain Sagar Lake was an unparalleled experience . The Lumbini Park adjoining the lake was quite an amazing place with people spending time in the greenery.

Take  a Stroll Along with the NTR Gardens

NTR Garden is a gorgeous recreation park for people of all age groups. It is situated in the close vicinity of the Hussain Sagar lake.

You can take a stroll in the park if time permits. I witnessed a lot of families hanging out in the park.

Enjoy a Meal On the Eateries Along the Necklace Road

The necklace road is a boulevard adjoining the Hussain Sagar Lake and is one of the popular tourist spots.

If you are looking to enjoy snacks, lunch or dinner, you can head towards a number of restaurants and eateries. One of them is a waterfront restaurant located nearby to satiate your cravings.

Experience a Snowy Evening in Hyderabad at the Snow World

Snow world is quite popular among the locals and the tourists alike. This is the only place in Hyderabad where it snows and that too throughout the year. Arranged at the lower tank bund road, behind the Indirapark, it is very close to Hussain Sagar lake.

We found it one of the intriguing places of interest in Hyderabad. It is an ideal spot to beat the burning warmth of a hot afternoon. The snow was fresh and clean. Our son was left spellbound by the figurines of polar bears, penguins, alpine trees and an igloo. He enjoyed various games such as Snow Merry-go-round, Snow volleyball and rides including Bumper Cars, Snow Play Area, Snow Tube and Sleigh Slide.

DAY 4:  Spend a Fun-Filled Day at Ramoji Film City

This was our last day in Hyderabad, therefore, we decided to dedicate the fourth day of our Hyderabad 4 Days Itinerary to exploring Ranoji film city.

Hyderabad Ramoji Film City

Ramoji Film City is one of the best destinations to visit in Hyderabad.

The Pride of Hyderabad – Ramoji film city

Ramoji film city is a perfect place for all Bollywood and cinema lovers. One must try to reach out as early as possible to make the most of it.

We planned for one whole day at Ramoji and booked our tickets and pick-up online . We reached there at 9 am to spend the whole day watching the natural and artificial attractions including an amusement park.

It is a self-sustained enclosure which has got its own accommodation facilities. They run a handful of shows to keep visitors entertained and take you on a ride to cover a good part of the property. There are some excellent dining options within the premises as well.

Our tour of Hyderabad came to an end on the fourth day. I would rate this trip among the best historical and cultural experiences of my life. There are a lot more places to explore in Hyderabad if you have enough time to spare.

Hyderabad 4 days itinerary

I travelled to Hyderabad along with my husband and child. Therefore, the budget breakdown is for 3 people.

Our 4 Day 3 Night Hyderabad Trip Budget Breakdown

Now that you have a handy Hyderabad 4 days itinerary, I would like to detail out the expenditure we incurred on the trip. We mostly travelled by auto and sometimes hired a cab.

Given below is the cost breakdown of our 4 Day 3 Night Hyderabad Trip. The cost is for 2 adults and one child.  This breakdown will help you frame your own budget.

Where to Stay on Your Hyderabad Trip?

Staying in Hyderabad is quite affordable! One can opt for a stay at paying guesthouses, OYO rooms, and budget hotels at economical rates.

We booked ourselves at Park Continental Hotel by Trance , Masab Tank. For our Hyderabad 4 Days itinerary, it was a good location for sightseeing and getting around. This relaxed hotel is 5 km from Birla Mandir and 25 km from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

They charged us INR 1,700 per night for two guests. The rates vary from season to season depending on occupancy and other factors.

Other Budget Options are also easily available starting at INR 750 and can go up to INR 4,000 per night. Some budget options are –

The lowest tariff in Hyderabad can be found if you stay on a Friday. The opposite is true for, Sunday, which is usually the most expensive day.

How to Travel To and Within Hyderabad?

Hyderabad is well connected by semi-luxury and luxury buses plying from major cities nearby.

However,  trains are the best mode of transport if you want to witness the changing culture, sceneries & terrains of India. Many fast and superfast trains connect major Indian cities and towns to Hyderabad.

If you are looking for something faster and convenient, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport operates multiple flights of all domestic carriers connecting 52 destinations.

Once you arrive in Hyderabad, there are many ways to explore the city. Different modes are available based on your choice such as cab, metro, bus, auto-rickshaw, etc.

What is the Best Time to Visit Hyderabad?

April to June is very hot in Hyderabad. July to September is the peak monsoon. November to February is dry, with warm days and cool evenings.

Therefore, I would suggest you plan a trip in the months from October to March since during these months the climate is moderate and ideal for sightseeing and moving around in the city. It is advisable to keep lighter clothes as it can be a little hot & humid, especially from noon to evening.

People, Culture and Communication in  Hyderabad

This city is as beautiful as the rainbow. People are welcoming and warm-hearted. Friendliness and ‘tehzeeb’ are part of local culture. People, in general, carry a lot of respect for elders and women.

The official language is Telugu, and in the old part of city Urdu is the most common language. However, most Hyderabadis understand Hindi and English perfectly well. You can survive without facing any language barrier.

Buddha Statue

A visit to Hyderabad will leave you satisfied culturally and visually.

Crucial Tips to Ensure A Lovely Experience in Your Hyderabad 4 Days Itinerary

Before I wrap up my blog, there are a few tips that I would like to share with you. These tips will ensure a hassle-free vacation.

1. Prepare a List – The best way to pack for a trip is to prepare a list of what are the essentials and then keep on checking the items as per the list. We took shoes with some extra grip and lighter clothes, as the place can be a little hot and humid.

We wanted to capture and preserve the memories and packed the DSLR, power bank, charger, laptop and some basic medicines.

2. Customs & Etiquettes – Follow customs, attire & etiquette by dressing conventionally, especially before entering any place of worship. It is advisable to wear decent clothes and remove shoes before entering.

To avoid inviting glances and sometimes rude remarks about your dress don’t wear sheer clothing, tank tops, or short skirts. The dressing should be appropriate such as traditional ethnic clothing similar to a Hyderabadi.

Everywhere in India etiquette matters a lot. For example, the left hand should not be used for pointing, giving, receiving or shaking someone’s hand.

3. Documentation -Carry on ID proof with you at all times. These documents are required for check-ins into hotels, for entry passes to public places. Also, Hyderabad is one of the major cities that is adapting safety precautions therefore always keep your IDs with you.

4. Monkey menace – Hyderabad has more than its fill of simians. They can snatch away the belongings such as small bags and cameras. Don’t carry food items, especially fruits which are visible. Carry your stuff carefully and avoid going close to places where lots of monkeys are present.

5. Petty criminals, Pickpockets and ScamRisks – Like every other city in India, in Hyderabad too you can expect pickpockets and snatchers in crowded places. It is highly advisable that you keep your belongings tightly secured by your side.

Vendors, and auto-rickshaw drivers may charge exorbitant rates for rides. It is better to keep money in cash and a handful of change with you. Always look for those vendors who display rate lists.

6. Money-saving Hacks -Since metro service is not available in all areas, if you are willing to save a bit of cash you can avoid autorickshaws. Opt for local buses instead. Autowallas tend to overcharge people who appear to be tourists. I will personally recommend booking shuttle services when traveling in a large group.

7.  Pavement Vendors and Markets – Avoid shopping for valuable things from street vendors. The whole city is full of pavement markets. You can find anything on pavements, ranging from books, dresses, bed sheets, shoes, jewellery, bangles, and utensils and to what not.

However, in general, the quality is always unreliable. Before buying any durable it is important to confirm the genuineness of the seller and the product.

My family trip to Hyderabad was a wonderful and refreshing experience. The Grandeur of monuments, brilliant architecture,  modernity, simplicity & warmth of people and mouthwatering cuisines will always stay with me.

The city taught me, that diversity is just a word if the people are willing to accept everyone as their own and get going as one. Thank you, Hyderabad for your warm welcome, a city with the promise of many tomorrows.

Golconda Castle is one of the more prestigious castles in India. Although it is a ruin now, it can still be seen that the grandeur of the year. Golconda Fort started as an earthen fort, which passed through the Bahmani dynasty and then passed to the rulers of the Qutb Shahi dynasty. Golconda Fort was rebuilt by the first three kings of the Qutb Shahi dynasty over a period of 62 years. The imposing Golconda Castle architecture shows its unique sound transmission system, the grandeur of the palace architecture and the ingenious water supply system. The advanced sound transmission system design can make the sound of a slap at the gate of the castle directly transmitted to the castle. In addition, the design of ventilation capacity also shows the shrewdness of the architects. The ventilation system here allows the fresh air to blow in slowly. During the Middle Ages, Fort Golconda was famous for its rich diamond deposits.

Hyderabad in 4 days – Everything to do on a short trip to the Nawab City!

BannerImg

City of Pearls. City of Nawabs. City of biriyani! Think you can cover Hyderabad in 4 days? But of course! Maybe not in its entirety but definitely the parts that matter the most, read on.

Call it what you like but the fact remains the beauty of this city cannot be just contained in words.

Nevertheless, I have tried.

As soon as you set foot in the streets and galli bazaars of the Capital City of Telangana State (and de jure capital of Andhra Pradesh), you’ll know what you’re bound to see during the rest of your trip.

The oh-so-well-known Hyderabadi-Hindi dialect, the laid-back attitude, being a complete foodie or celebrating without any reason with a bunch of friends is what differentiates a Hyderabadi from the others. The place has created such an influence on its culture and people that one can easily identify a Hyderabadi from a large group of people. The monumental preserves, Pearls, the Hyderabadi biryani, Irani chai is what describes this city of Nawabs.

So much to see. So much to explore.

Why not take one at a time to soak into the ‘travel feels’ in Hyderabad.

The architectural enthusiasts will LOVE it here because Hyderabad is a city that will keep you coming back for more!

Here’s your perfect itinerary of Hyderabad in 4 days!

On arriving at Hyderabad, and cooling off all the while getting accustomed to the climate, you can map out the things you could cover in the best way possible. And here’s a handy guide on how to commute in Hyderabad.

Charminar, Hyderabad, India

You could begin your tour by visiting the beautiful monument, Char Minar. With four huge gates, Char Minar is the oldest mosque in the Hyderabad.

It is a classic example of Catia style of Islamic architecture . It is built with a wide variety of stones like marble, granite, mortar and limestone. The grandeur of this structure will leave you awestruck.

The beauty does not simply lie in its structure, but also in what the structure means to the people and its symbolic importance to the residents around the architectural marvel. The mosque is always filled with people offering prayers in good faith. Bustling with energy, the vibrancy of the place strikes you the most.

There are innumerable shops selling everything from antiques and glittering bangles to bags and toys.

Mecca Mosque

Mecca Masjid, Hyderabad, India

Strangely imitating almost every bit of the mosque in Mecca Madina in Saudi Arabia, this is the biggest Mosque in Hyderabad. Being one of the largest mosques in India, it can accommodate thousands of devotees at a time.

Fun fact I learnt during my visit –

One can see a huge pond of water and two stone benches that are mounted near the entrance as well. Legend states that if a person sits on these benches, he/she will return to sit on these benches again alive or dead!

Can’t say for sure it’s just superstition, but then again, who knows?

A Peek Into The Past – Qutub Shahi Tomb

Beautiful Qutb Shahi Tombs in Hyderabad, India

The Qutub Shahi Tombs are literally an architectural marvel amid the picturesque gardens of Ibrahim Bagh in Hyderabad.

The Qutub Shahi Tomb, which represents the architectural tradition of the Qutub Shahi dynasty, is truly a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. What surprises you the most would be the secularism with which the buildings exist- tombs are set up in different styles, depicting Hindu, Persian and Pathan forms all together!

Going the local  way

Worshipping Lord Vishnu in style –

Birla Temple

View of the Birla Mandir temple, places to see in Hyderabad,India

Having been built by industrialists Birlas themselves, they sure knew how to deal with not just business and money, but also with infrastructure and aesthetics.

Drawing admiring glances from every passerby, Birla Temple (or Naubat Pahad) stands magnificently in all its grandeur.

The temple blends three different architecture styles – South-Indian, Utkala and Rajasthani . Settled at an altitude of up to 280 ft, the temple offers you a breathtaking view of the city.

Salarjung Museum

Salar Jung Museum - Hyderabad in 4 days

Academic Journals. Rustic weaponry. Precious royal items collected through centuries of different kingdoms. Intrigued and attractive to its rich history, you’ll be pulled into it.

Salarjung Museum is basically a storehouse of various historic artefacts of the entire nation – India.

Past Treasures

The collections include several Jade daggers belonging to Emperor Jahangir, Noor Jahan and Shah Jahan and the wardrobe of Tipu Sultan.

River Musi’s Hussain Sagar Lake

Hussain Sagar in Hyderabad, India.

Situated between Hyderabad and Secunderabad, this large lake is one of the city’s most picturesque sights.

Apart from the touristy boat ride at the Lake, soothing your mind and soul, this is one among the pristine lakes of Hyderabad.

Rock And Replicas

During your ride, you can also see the huge statue of Buddha standing on the ‘Rock of Gibraltar’ in the centre. Light it up at  Lumbini Gardens

Lumbini Park Hyderabad

The concept of a large, colourful clock designed using flowers is unique and alluring. The landmark of the park is the large statue of Lord Buddha. Sculptures include the life story of the Lord. So not only is a trip here pure fun-based but educational for kids and adults too.

At night, with the orange lamps and laser light and musical fountain glow, the Lumbini Park glows beautifully in magnificence.

Laser Show at Lumbini Gardens. It is one of the prime attractions, where you get to see the water shoot up in the sky, making a full wall sized water screen.

Reel or real? Filmy tapes at  Ramoji Film City

Ramoji film city, Hyderabad

It is a beautiful holiday get away with cinematic themes in the happening city of Hyderabad. There is so much for you to see, learn, and experience as something new comes towards you from every nook and corner.

Feel your Bollywood dreams come true-  at the Ramoji Film City, l you can indulge in a number of activities ranging from film city tours to adventure sports, toy train rides to a number of gardens, a small but cool entry into the filmy world.

Smaller replicas of famous monuments in the country such as the Amer Palace are also present here. What’s more, you can also stroll through a number of other sets and settings such as royal courts and other locations which have drawn inspiration from different architectures throughout the world.

Ethnicity and Diverse Linguistics

There are a number of films directed here in different languages; whether Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Bengali.

Be sure to keep aside an entire day for this fun-filled location!

It’s an add to cart kind of day because it’s time to shop in Hyderabad!

Laad Bazaar Hyderabad - Hyderabad in 4 days

Koti Sultan Bazar

During the British rule in India, this place was called Residency Market.

Everything from silver junk jewellery to rare collection pieces, this market is a one-stop-shop for shopping in Hyderabad for all the ladies out there. The colourful stylish Indian salwar kameez and churidars with dazzling footwear displays have something for each taste. The market has row after row of shops that display the Hyderabad with finesse. Before you venture out for shopping, brace yourself for a long day. The entire collection on offer is mind-boggling and the amazing deals you can get here will surely confuse you. Street shopping in Hyderabad at its best!

Shilparamam

Some of the good things about Shilparamam are that it is a gated complex so once you are in there are no beggars to trouble you, no noise from cars and no smoke from autos making you wonder how banning of smoking in public places came about to be implemented.  But when it comes to shopping there’s a whole lot more!

Indian handicrafts like Bidri metal work from Bidar Karnataka, bandhani work from Rajasthan, paper Mache from Kashmir, bamboo work from Manipur, Brassware from Moradabad in UP and for sure – pearls from Hyderabad-  can all be found in every nook and corner of the street. You WILL have to be smart and try for a hard bargain as the typical price quoted is more than what the guy will actually sell for.

Laad Bazaar (Chudi Bazaar)

Situated next to the Charminar, Laad Bazaar is located in a street packed with shops selling perfumes, textiles, and jewellery. This market is the go-to place for wedding shopping in the city. Some special artefacts and jewellery are hand-crafted lac bangles, which are produced in local workshops and embellished with glittering, colourful stones. The shops stock brass and silver bangles studded with pearls in abundance.

Flea market – Jummerat Bazar

One should be smart and skilful in dealing with such items, as they get cajoled sometimes. The star attractions of the place are the footwear stalls. Though the source of the shoes remains a mystery, the traders say they buy it from cobblers or from discarded lots. Old scrap items, which include typewriters, telephones, automobile parts, are available at a throwaway price.

Things to do while your touring-

Chill at Hussain Sagar lake, Lumbini Park, or you could go watch a movie at Prasads and later enjoy a bite at Eat Street .

If you go with kids –

For kids, there are fun rides. It will seem like a mini entertainment park right in the middle of the city, beside a beautiful lake.

The old city is a haven for you if you are a shopaholic, this is the place to shop for pearls, bangles, and dresses. The only thing you must have in your arsenal is the ability to bargain with the shopkeepers.

Next, Food trails!

Hyderabadi Biryani - is perhaps the most well-known Non-Vegetarian culinary delights from the famous Hyderabad Cuisine. It is a traditional dish made using Basmati rice, goat meat and various other exotic spices.

Just the aroma of Dum Pukht dish will leave you drooling. Dum Pukht Biryani is a core Hyderabadi dish cooked with steam. As you take a bite, you can taste the rich flavour of desi ghee melt in your mouth.

It is a process of slow-cooking in a sealed ‘handi’, which allows ingredients to mature in their own juices, retaining their rich flavours while releasing aromatic aromas.

Hyderabadi special – Marag

What’s a better way to start your meal than a spicy-meaty soup?

Super light texture,  prepared with tender mutton, it is the perfect starter that will keep you hooked.

Must try!  Hyderabadi Biryani

Your visit to Hyderabad is incomplete without having Hyderabadi biryani.

This is such a popular and favourite dish amongst the locals, people don’t mind having it for breakfast, lunch or dinner- maybe all three times as well!

With Hyderabadi chicken biryani, you just can’t get enough of it. The phrase ‘enough of biriyani’ just doesn’t exist. Mouthwatering and authentic, this Indian dish with succulent chicken in layers of fluffy rice, fragrant spices and caramelized onions is to die for!

Try the famous Hyderabadi Biryani at Bawarchi or Paradize and you will want time to stop.

Or try a cup of hot Irani chai with Karachi biscuits in the evening with your buddies.

You’ll not want your journey in Hyderabad to end.

But alas it’s the last day

End of a trip but not your travel journey.

On the last hour of the tour, you can head back to Hyderabad airport. Board the flight for your onward journey with a bagful of memories.

Get to know more about Hyderabad before booking your tour packages

Hyderabad started its sojourn in the year 1591 AD when Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah of the Qutb Shahi dynasty of the Golconda sultanate laid the foundation for the city around the majestic Charminar Mosque. This part of the city still persists as the Old Walled City of Hyderabad amidst the bustling metropolis. Quli Qutb Shah named the new city, Bhagnagar, as a tribute to his muse, a dancer called Bhagmati. It is also rumoured that the courtesan later converted to Islam and adopted the name Hydar Mahal, thus giving Hyderabad its current name. Strategically located on the banks of the Musi River, a tributary of the Krishna, Hyderabad is one of the largest cities in southern India, making a huge impact on the nation’s economy. Hyderabad, the City of Nizams isn’t very much different from Lucknow, the City of the Nawabs, at least not culturally. If you’re a fan of Indian food, it is impossible for you to have missed the connection these two cities share through their distinct and iconic forms of biryani. ‘Hyderabadi’ culinary culture is a unique blend of Mughlai delicacies like Nihari, Haleem, and Kababs, with accompaniments like Mirch Salan, Sheermal, and Kulfi and the South Indian staples such as Dosa, Vada, Idli, Rasam, and Sambar. Apart from delighting the foodie in you, Hyderabad, with its varied collection of historical monuments and sightseeing places provides the perfected backdrop for satiating your wanderlust.

Things to Do in Hyderabad

Without any further delay, check out the places to visit, and interesting things to do in and around the city with one of our Hyderabad city tour packages:

1. Golconda Fort:

The Golconda Fort located some distance to the west of Hyderabad and marks the former capital and seat of power of the Qutb Shahi dynasty before the foundation stone of Hyderabad was laid. Today, the fortification exists as ruined remains of the original fort of mud extending across a substantial area of land. Here you can explore its stock of lore from the time period when both the Golconda Sultanate and Mughals had control over the fort. This colossal structure requires some curious exploration in the right frame of mind as you will be climbing through a significant number of stairs and corridors. Hence it is advisable you do it with a guided city tour of Hyderabad.

2. The Charminar:

There is nothing about Hyderabad that creates an iconic image in your mind if it’s not the Charminar! In fact, the city of Hyderabad developed around this landmark mosque. The iconic mosque has stood through the entirety of Hyderabad’s history since the 1500s, keeping its exemplary Indo-Persian architecture and crafty sculptures intact until recent restoration projects were run on it to return this monument to its original glory. Visit the Charminar, which is an integral part of Indian cultural heritage, with our Hyderabad tour packages.

3. Falaknuma Palace Hotel:

Today, a luxurious 5-star hotel under the banner of the Taj Group of Hotels in India, the Falaknuma Palace used to be the erstwhile residence of the Prime Minister of the Princely state of Hyderabad under the Nizami rule. Literally meaning ‘reflection of the sky’, this palace is located atop a hill from where you will get magnificent views of the entire city. The price of staying here, even for a night, is quite high, and there is no direct access open to the general public other than to the fine dining restaurant run by Taj. However, you may book one of the Hyderabad tour packages that focus on Nizam Palaces to explore this place in its entirety.

4. Chowmahalla Palace:

The Chowamahalla or Chowmahallah Palace is the 200-year-old palace that served as the official residence of Hyderabadi Nizams. Turned into a museum, showcasing as well as preserving the Nizami way of life, their treasures, their pride and heritage, with items such as antique furniture, cars, art collections, photos, and clothes. Our Hyderabad tour packages make sure that you get to visit this beautiful and grand Chowmahalla Palace and can spend some quality time here to understand the kind of passionate lifestyle that was led by the erstwhile royalty of Hyderabad.

5. Salar Jung Museum:

Situated on the banks of the Musi River, this is one of the largest museums in India, a must-visit on any Hyderabad trip. The museum contains within its walls, a most extensive collection of arts and historical artefacts such as Nizami furniture paintings, sculptures, carvings, ceramics, textiles, carpets, and clocks among others, collected by the family of the Salar Jung Nawabs. It started out as Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan a.k.a. Salar Jung the Third, who served as the Prime Minister of Hyderabad collected artefacts from across the world and started this museum.

6. Hussain Sagar Lake:

This is a large manmade tank in Hyderabad that geographically separates the city from its suburb of “Secunderabad” which was once a city. The lake was built in 1563 by Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah and was designed by Hazrat Hussain Shah Wali, who gave the lake its present name. In the middle of the lake, there is a small rocky island, known as Gibraltar Rock, upon which a 32-ft tall monolithic statue of Gautam Buddha was erected in 1992. The lake is a huge water body and makes for a beautiful outdoor location for low-cost recreational visits. Visit Hyderabad with our Honeymoon packages and witness this beautiful heart-shaped lake in the middle of the city.

Best time to visit Hyderabad

Falling in the tropical region of the Deccan Plateau, Hyderabad is a city that sees hot climates through a large part of the year, especially making the weather outdoors unbearable during the summer months. Hence, it is advisable for you to book your Hyderabad honeymoon packages for October to late February or early March. However, you could also visit this spectacular Deccan city during the month of July-August for a monsoon special Hyderabad tour. Check out our Hyderabad sightseeing packages to be taken on an extensive tour of city’s rare and hidden delights.

4 days trip from hyderabad

Black people are the architects of American culture. The hip verbiage many young people speak, the music they consume, and even the most influential art among what could be called hipsters are derived from Black people. Our distinctive perception of the world has become a pavement for creativity, and social media is no exception. During the exodus of Twitter—or X if you're lame or a bot—the influential grip they had became so significant that it's warranted a 3-part Hulu docu-series on the subject. For an influential sub-culture, Prentice Penny's "Black Twitter: A People's History" is a trip down memory lane, highlighting the pivotal moments in Black culture, politically and artistically, and how our diverse voices made the app better and voices heard, but it stumbles by excluding so many people who made this corner of the internet so influential.

Based on Jason Parham's 2021 Wired piece "A People's History of Black Twitter," the three-part doc chronicles different avenues in which Black people were the creators that gave Twitter its wings. In the early 2010s, Black people preferred the site over its main competitor, Facebook. Once a few hashtags such as '#twitterafterdark' and '#youknowyoureblackwhen' started flying, it became a communal beacon for Black users, inviting them to show up and add their voices to the conversation. This was the birth of what we now know as 'Black Twitter, a unique community within the larger Twitter platform where Black users share their experiences, perspectives, and humor, specific hashtags connecting and amplifying their voices. It's a space where everyone's voice matters, and it's had a significant impact on shaping cultural and political discourse on social media.

The three episodes revolve around Black Twitter's digital origin, the social changes it influenced by its impact, and the circling down the drain during the Trump era through the pandemic and up to Elon Musk's current reign. Of its three near-hour chapters, the first plays like a joyous celebration as an ensemble of journalists, hashtag originators, comedians, and scholars discuss many joke exchanges originating from the latest dramatic moments in “ Scandal ” or “Game of Thrones.” Panelists recount iconic incidents that went viral via the bird app from the Rihanna/Ciara beef of 2011 that had everyone gagged to the infamous Zola Twitter thread , the first instance a Twitter tale became a full-fledged movie (" Zola "), showcasing Black Twitter's cultural impact.

As it progresses, the series doubles down on the discussion of the advancement of technology and how the platform became a tool for Black voices to be heard nationwide, such as April Reign's #oscarsowhite campaign in 2014, which commented on the constant omission of Black people in Oscar acting categories, lending to the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences diversifying their membership pool. Or with Alicia Garza's #BlackLivesMatter campaign that started in response to the tragic murder of Trayvon Martin.

With "Black Twitter: A People's History," Penny assembles numerous journalists, scholars, comedians, and internet personalities, including W. Kamau Bell , Amanda Seales, Jemele Hill, Roxane Gay, Sam Jay , Brad Jenkins, Alicia Garza , and April Reign. Given the celebration of inclusivity, its aura is disappointingly exclusive as most of the subjects' opinions are high-profile people with blue checks. Each panelist's profile appears to bear that verification symbol at the end of their name; while today it carries little weight, it'd be preferable to consult other influential users with less problematic backgrounds than, say, the always controversial Amanda Seales .

It’s uncomfortable that people like Seales and Kristy Tillman get the spotlight to cover misogynoir when they were publicly slammed for defending terrible men  as recently as last weekend , when Tillman defended journalist DJ Vlad, who called for a Black Princeton professor’s job. Why are these the people who get to have these discussions and not people outside of the casting director’s bizarre definition of Black Twitter royalty?

If the viewer is a young Black kid who didn’t know of Twitter until its current X-era, the doc functions as a surface-level crash course. But the movement deserves more than a superficial appreciation. For anyone who was there, it feels ultimately thankless due to our shared experiences down paths we don't necessarily want to reminisce on. And it breezes through topics ripe for deeper conversation.

Whole series screened for review. On Hulu now.
