The Classic Tour takes guests through a tour of the south courtyard, visitor’s locker room and interview room, the skyline suite, colonnades, and the field. About the band

In Fall of 2022, Gravitas Ventures released Chicago’s documentary “The Last Band on Stage” directed by Peter Curtis Pardini and narrated by the band’s longtime friend and actor Joe Mantegna. On March 14, 2020. Chicago is the last band playing in the U.S. as COVID lockdowns begin and “The Last Band on Stage” tells the incredible story of how the 56 year-old band survived a pandemic that stopped the world in its tracks.

“Chicago has faced many obstacles in lasting 56 years but the pandemic was possibly their greatest challenge. I’m excited for people to see the story of how they got back to the stage to continue performing,” said director Peter Curtis Pardini. “We’re excited to be bringing The Last Band on Stage to audiences worldwide. This funny and informative documentary offers an inside look at how the legendary band Chicago were able to produce content even during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Gravitas Ventures’ Acquisition Coordinator, Mackenzie Maguire.

Chicago received The Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award from the GRAMMYS. The Lifetime Achievement Award celebrates performers who have made outstanding contributions of artistic significance to the field of recording. A special award ceremony and tribute concert celebrating the honorees was held in 2020.

Chicago was inducted into the 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This was their first nomination. They’ve been eligible since 1994. A long time coming!

Chicago's first album, Chicago Transit Authority , was inducted into the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame in 2014.  Chicago managed to fuse pop, rock and jazz together perfectly in this double album.

Robert Lamm and James Pankow have become inductees of the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017. These legendary songwriters wrote mega-hits such as, "25 or 6 to 4," "Saturday In The Park," "Feelin' Stronger Every Day," "Make Me Smile," and many others.

The International Trombone Association presented its 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award to James Pankow. The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes people who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to the trombone profession over a long career.

Chicago’s lifetime achievements include two Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, Founding Artists of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a Chicago street dedicated in their honor, and keys to and proclamations from an impressive list of US cities. Record sales top the 100,000,000 mark, and include 21 Top 10 singles, 5 consecutive Number One albums, 11 Number One singles and 5 Gold singles. An incredible 25 of their 38 albums have been certified platinum, and the band has a total of 48 gold and platinum awards.

Chicago have toured every year since the beginning - they’ve never missed a year.  The original three band members are Robert Lamm on keyboards and vocals, Lee Loughnane on trumpet and vocals and James Pankow on trombone. The band line-up also includes Wally Reyes, Jr. on drums, Tony Obrohta  on guitar, Loren Gold on keyboards and vocals, Ray Herrmann on sax and flute, Neil Donell on vocals, Eric Baines on bass and Ramon "Ray" Yslas on percussion.

From the signature sound of the Chicago horns, their iconic Vocalists, and a few dozen of ever-Classic Songs, this band’s concerts are celebrations.  2023 marks the band’s 56th consecutive year of touring!

The Collins Family

With a passion for business, technology, and dance, Stacie Collins founded VIP Dance shortly after graduating from Louisiana State University in 2003 earning a Bachelor of Arts degree including minors in dance, sociology, and speech communication. She grew up in the world of competitive dance and traveled the nation teaching and choreographing through her college years and beyond. Stacie runs VIP Dance alongside her husband of ten years, Chris Collins, and they are proud parents to their eight year old son, Preston.

Directors, Judges, & Staff

Directors Christie Sirota, Lauren Barney, Rachel Siegel, Summer Bonnecaze, and Melanie Creek are all active industry professionals and master teachers with a true passion for connecting with our customers. Our judges are vetted by the Director team and devoted to providing quality feedback and inspiration to all VIP dancers and teachers. And our staff is made up of an elite and talented group of individuals who bring a unique energy and vibe to the VIP event weekends.

Red Carpet award ceremonies, VIP lanyards and All-Access Passes, custom theme music, and quality commemorative awards set the tone as dancers compete for our top awards including the VIP LIST Top 10, Idol Solos, and Best Studio and special awards, namely Future Star, Stand-Out, Judges Choice and more. Our ceremonies are always organized and efficient, but most importantly, exciting and fun! Custom Scoring System

Through our proprietary judging software, we have created a new scoring system with multi-sensory feedback utilizing both auditory critiques and visual graphs. Our judges adjust feedback sliders in various subcategories under the three main headings of ability, execution, and composition providing a visual representation of data justifying the total score. Under each slider, keywords are available should the judge wish to highlight certain elements for the dancers to Work On or to denote as Doing Great . Scoring, critiques, feedback sliders, and keywords represent an authentic and thoughtful analysis of each routine. 

A Different Take

We are live streaming and providing professional media services in each city. If you would like to capture some additional media, devices are welcome. You may video and shoot non-flash photography of your dancers while performing. Video files are posted to our site in the week following the event and beautifully displayed in a search and filter format within the event program alongside any award achievements ( check it out here ). Parents, dancers, and teachers are able to easily share the video links via email or social media channels.

COMPLIMENTS

Community Over Competition

Brighten your competition day, and someone else's, by sending a compliment. Compliments are shoutouts to routines in the form of emoji comments via the interactive digital program. EXPO CHICAGO, the International Exposition of Contemporary & Modern Art has established the city of Chicago as a preeminent art fair destination. Opening on April 11, 2024 with an exclusive VIP Preview, EXPO CHICAGO takes place at historic Navy Pier, whose vast vaulted architecture hosts leading international art galleries alongside one of the highest quality platforms for global contemporary art and culture.

Edith Farnsworth House | 14520 River Rd. 

In the past years, Assaf Evron – 2024 Edith Farnsworth House artist-in-residence – has explored the tension between architecture, nature, and representation.  Collage for the Edith Farnsworth House  is the fifth project in an ongoing series of interventions in buildings and interiors designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. The interventions are based on the architect’s paper collages, made as preparatory pieces for his designs. For this iteration, Evron has designed a photographic print for the southern glass façade of the house based on a Georges Braque painting, whose art was integrated into Mies own collages. This exhibition aims for imagery, transparency, and reflections to respond both to the historical context of the house but also to the immediate natural environment.

The Edith Farnsworth House and EXPO CHICAGO are teaming up to bring you a personalized experience to visit this iconic house and incredible exhibition. Transportation and lunch included.

Ed Behrens, Editor of Apollo, will open proceedings with a ‘fireside’ conversation with Sandra, exploring the ideas and inspirations behind her collecting journey. Sandra will then guide guests around the collection, which includes women artists Dora Maar (with some Picasso) and Alicia Halicka, contemporary artists Andrew Sim and Peter Jennes, Chicago Imagists such as Don Baum, and much more.

Coinciding with EXPO CHICAGO 2024, CAC will host a centerpiece exhibition of this year's Newcity Breakout Artists. The exhibition will have an opening reception on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 5-9pm. The exhibition will be on view until May 17, 2024. Established in 2004, Newcity's annual Breakout Artists issue has become a leading indicator of future success in contemporary art. Of the 160 Breakout Artists before this year, over 40 now have gallery representation, ranging from Hauser & Wirth to numerous Chicago galleries; most of the others, including those who've chosen less commercial paths, show regularly at museums and institutions around the world.

The Former Church of the Epiphany at Epiphany Center for the Arts

RenBen is the Renaissance Society’s annual gala which raises a significant portion of the museum’s annual budget, enabling new artistic commissions, scholarly discourse, and lasting publications. Special features of the evening will be designed by New York–based artist Kevin Beasley, who works in sculpture, sound and performance, with deep collaborative ties to legendary musicians and esteemed artists within his own creative circle.Your contributions allow us to keep all Ren exhibitions and events free and open to the public. RenBen is aligned with EXPO CHICAGO.

4:00-5:00pm | CURATOR LED TOUR OF SIF ITONA WESTERBERG: TWIN FLAME, DOUBLE RUIN 

Driehaus Museum | 40 E Erie St. 

Join Stephanie Cristello, curator of  Sif Itona Westerberg: Twin Flame, Double Ruin , for a tour of the exhibition. This program will provide an in-depth look at Westerberg’s installation of recent sculptural works across the Museum’s first and second floor galleries. Across her practice, the Copenhagen-based artist deals with themes of metamorphosis and hybrid figures. Informed by Classical statuary and ancient mythology, the artist’s intricately carved friezes and bronze sculptures picture a world where the human body, animals, and plants coalesce. For this exhibition, Westerberg engages with the dominant presence of twins in origin stories—a primordial belief in the symmetry, doubling, and inversion used to convey the creation of our world. With attention to specific motifs and works within the collection, Cristello will discuss the artist’s approach to sculpture, where common industrial building materials such as aerated concrete are transformed into delicate engraved surfaces reminiscent of marble bas reliefs, in relation to the Gilded Age architecture and ornamentation of the Nickerson Mansion.

The tour will begin promptly at 4pm and begin in the Main Hall.

4:30-6:00pm | BOOK LAUNCH OF JULIA PHILLIPS: ENERGY EXCHANGE

Join The Graham Foundation for the book launch of Julia Phillips’ first monograph Energy Exchange (Mousse, 2023), featuring a conversation between the artist and scholar and writer Nana Adusei-Poku, as well as commissioned performances by artists Tina Wang and Eli Greene. A reception will follow the event; copies of Energy Exchange will be available in the Graham Foundation bookshop.

Childish Gambino is hitting the road. Following the release of his Atavista  (3.15.20 reimagined versions) project on Monday (May 13), Donald Glover announced plans for his global The New World Tour.

The “This Is America” rapper is set to tour the world starting this summer with Willow and Amaarae serving as openers. Glover’s first trek since 2018 will kick off in Oklahoma City, Okla., on Aug. 11.

The trek will run through North America, Australia and a handful of European dates. After OKC, Gambino is slated to hit U.S. markets such as Detroit, Philly, Boston, Brooklyn, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Denver, Portland and Los Angeles before wrapping up Stateside with a show in Chicago on Oct. 3.

Gambino then heads across the pond for performances in Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway, France, Germany, the U.K. and more.

The Atlanta creator’s Atavista serves as an 11-track updated collection of the unfinished 3.15.20 project he released as the world was gearing up to shut down for the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.

Atavista still boasts collaborations with Ariana Grande (“Time”), 21 Savage (“Psilocybae”), Summer Walker (“Sweet Thang”) and Young Nudy (“Little Foot Big Foot”) — albeit with different song titles. Gambino also released a Hiro Murai-directed black-and-white video for “Little Foot Big Foot” alongside the project, starring an appearance from Abbott Elementary ‘s Quinta Brunson.

The 40-year-old isn’t done yet for the year either, as he’s preparing to unleash a second album this summer. The album is the accompanying soundtrack to his forthcoming movie,  Bando Stone & The New World .

“My fans are great and have been so patient and are starving — this album is for you guys,” he said during a Gilga Radio stream in April.

Taylor Swift European tour kicks off in Paris with four shows and 42,000 spectators

The highest-grossing tour in history finally arrived in Europe on Thursday, May 9 as Taylor Swift kicks off her European dates with four nights in Paris. Thousands of fans were already visiting the La Defense Arena 24 hours before the show just to get their hands on the merchandise as soon as possible.

A handful of superfans camped out from Tuesday to ensure they got a prime spot in the standing section. "I didn't plan to, but I came to check it out and I saw the first tents and I panicked a little," said Chris, 30. Noah, 20, is seeing all four Paris concerts – he used 22 email addresses to get through the lottery system and secure the tickets.

Many accents in the crowd were American – the venue says a fifth of the audience has come from the United States. Georg'Ann Daly decided to celebrate her 23 rd birthday with the show in Paris. It meant flying from Nashville to Chicago to London and catching the Eurostar to Paris. "I've always been obsessed with Taylor Swift," she told AFP. "I went to her show in Nashville and thought I'm never doing that again because it was crazy. It's a lot of over-stimulation and I have social anxiety." "But it's my birthday and it's Paris and it's the first night of the tour, and I thought why not? It's so worth it!"

42,000 people

Some 42,000 people will see Swift in Paris before dates in Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Britain, Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland and Austria. The Eras Tour has worked its way across North and South America and Asia since starting in March 2023.

By the end of the year, it had already become the first to sell more than $1 billion in tickets and is on track to more than double that by the time it concludes in Vancouver this December.

Swifties in Paris are especially excited to hear songs off her new album, The Tortured Poets Society , being performed for the first time. Swift's tell-all dissections of her love stories have been the fuel powering her global domination, and fans have been pouring over The Tortured Poets Department for cryptic clues about Joe Alwyn, her short-but-dramatic fling with Matty Healy (lead singer of The 1975), and her current partner, American football star Travis Kelce.

"Taylor talks about toxic relationships, impossible love, politics, mental health, and so much more -- I think we can all find a song that resonates with our experiences," said Chris as she waited by her tent for the big moment.
