Von dort aus geht es nach Rom (Civitavecchia) und nach Palermo bevor es mit einem Seetag nach Palma de Mallorca geht. Es geht weiter entlang an der Küste Spaniens. Das Schiff macht Halt in Valencia und Málaga. Nach einem Seetag kommt ihr in den Kanaren, auf Teneriffa an. Populaire havens Transatlantisch

De voordelen van een trans-atlantische cruise, via het noorden de atlantische oceaan oversteken.

De schepen veranderen meestal van vaargebied in de lente of in de herfst, waarbij in het voorjaar de schepen van Noord-Amerika naar Noord-Europa varen en in het najaar van Noord-Europa naar Noord-Amerika. Het ss Rotterdam (vroegere cruiseschip van de rederij Holland America Line) vaarde al in oktober 1872 de eerste cruise vanaf de havenstad Rotterdam, via Plymouth naar New York. Tegenwoordig zijn deze cruises enorm populair, een stuk toegankelijker en betaalbaarder.

Verschillende rederijen bieden soortgelijke cruises aan, natuurlijk Holland America Line, maar ook Cunard Line en Norwegian Cruise Line. Holland America Line biedt nog steeds opstapmogelijkheden aan in de Nederlandse havens, Rotterdam of Amsterdam en Norwegian Cruise Line en Cunard Line vaak vanaf Southampton, Verenigd Koninkrijk. Vanaf de opstapplaatsen vaar je vaak door naar de hoofdstad van Ierland, Dublin. Bezoek hier de prachtige kastelen en kathedralen, maar ook de brouwerij “Het Guinness Storehouse”.

Vaar vervolgens door naar de hoofdstad van IJsland, Reykjavik. Hier kun je dolfijnen en walvissen spotten of heerlijk ontspannen in de wereldberoemde Blue Lagoon, gelegen in het zuidwesten van IJsland. In eerste instantie moet je er in de kou misschien niet aan denken maar eenmaal in het water, geniet je van de warme temperaturen van ongeveer 39 graden Celcius. Het is een geothermisch bad, dat is aangelegd in een oud lavaveld. De cruise vervolgt zich naar het magnifieke Groenland. Groenland is het grootste eiland ter wereld die eigenlijk al je verwachtingen te boven gaat.

Bezoek bijvoorbeeld de hoofdstad Nuuk, waarbij je kennis maakt met de cultuur waarbij traditioneel en modern gepaard gaan. Natuurlijk kom je ook naar Groenland vanwege de indrukwekkende natuur, ga bijvoorbeeld met een boottour de Groenlandse ijskappen en fjorden bekijken. Of voor de echte avonturiers, kun je gaan paddleboarden tussen de ijsbergen in de Nuuk Icefjord. Dit is natuurlijk een onvergetelijke en hele bijzondere ervaring. Eenmaal aangekomen aan de andere kant van de Atlantische Oceaan, is je volgende aanleghaven vaak Halifax, Canada. Dit is een stad rijk aan geschiedenis, met boeiende musea en monumenten.

De haven waar je vaak ontscheept is in de geweldige stad New York, Amerika. De wereldstad die je eigenlijk minimaal 1 keer in je leven gezien moet hebben. Bezoek bijvoorbeeld het enorme groene park in het hart van Manhattan, Central Park. Deze stad staat natuurlijk ook bekend om de enorme wolkenkrabbers, zoals The Empire State Building waar vanaf je de prachtige skyline over NYC kunt bewonderen. Indien je de mogelijkheid hebt, is het aan te raden om een aantal dagen langer te blijven in “The City that Never Sleeps”, want er is nog meer te zien. Bezoek bijvoorbeeld ook de meest bezochte musea ‘The National 9/11 Memorial & Museum’ en ‘The Metropolitan Museum of Art’. Shoppen doe je in de beste winkelstraten van New York City, ‘Fifth Avenue’ en ‘SoHo’!

Via het zuiden de Atlantische Oceaan oversteken

Een andere mogelijkheid is vanaf de Middellandse Zee naar Midden-Amerika & Caribbean of Zuid-Amerika. Een ruim aanbod kun je terugvinden bij CruiseReizen.nl met de rederij MSC Cruises. De Italiaanse cruisemaatschappij biedt vaak opstapmogelijkheden aan vanuit de bekende havenplaatsen Rome of Barcelona. Vervolgens vaar je langs de Spaanse en Portugese kust, naar de Canarische eilanden. De Canarische eilanden zijn voor velen een favoriete vakantiebestemming door de aangename temperaturen. Hier kun je bijvoorbeeld een excursie doen naar de vulkaan El Teide op Tenerife, of het vulkanisch landschap bekijken in het Timanfaya National Park op Lanzarote. Een veel voorkomende tussenstop is de mooie havenplaats Mindelo in Kaapverdië. Goed voor een ontspannen dag aan het strand of een bezoek aan het natuurpark Monte Verde.

Vanuit Kaapverdië steek je de Atlantische Oceaan over waarna je vaak in een haven aankomt in het Caribisch gebied. In de meeste gevallen is je eindbestemming Miami of Fort Lauderdale in de staat Florida, VS. Bezoek in Miami de Cubaanse wijk (Little Havana) of het Art Deco District (South Beach).

Ook kun je een oversteek maken vanuit Kaapverdië naar Brazilië. Dit is de kortste oversteek met circa 3 à 4 zeedagen. Het eindpunt van jouw cruise vakantie is dan vaak Rio de Janeiro (Brazilië) of Buenos Aires (Argentinië). Neem in Rio bijvoorbeeld de kabelbaan naar de top van de kegelberg ‘Het Suikerbrood’ of dans de tango in de kleurrijke wijk La Boca, Buenos Aires.

Fort Lauderdale wordt niet voor niets het Venetië van Amerika genoemd. De watertaxi’s brengen u zo naar het winkelcentrum, of naar de vele hotels en restaurants.
