Formerly known as Manachira Maidan the Square is an impressive complex built around the man-made Mananchira lake which imparts tranquility to the landscape. The square in its turn is bound by a laterite-sculpted wall. The lake remains surrounded by several temples, churches, mosques, houses which allow one to capture a glimpse of the traditional architectural style of the state. With its amphitheater, pristine lawns, musical fountains, an artificial hill, and stone sculpture the square manage to etch an indelible impression on the visitor's mind.

Mishkal Mosque, Kozhikode

Located on the Malabar Coast of Kozhikode the 14th-century mosque is a cultural, historical, and architectural marvel. The mosque was built by a Muslim merchant -shipowner belonging to the Nakhuda community, who were the wealthiest traders of medieval India.The structure has a stable stone base and steps run around the building. The mosque has a typical medieval style layout with no cupolas, no minarets but a tiled roof. The turquoise colored mosque is built of timber and originally had five stories. The mosque houses a large and a well-ventilated prayer hall. It has 47 doors, 24 carved pillars inlaid with beautiful motifs, and a large tank.

Mother Of God Cathedral, Kozhikode

Also known as Valiya Palli the cathedral is the Headquarters of the Latin Catholic congregation in Malabar and was built in 1513. Located at around 1.5 km away from the Kozhikode railway station the church exhibits an ethereal style of Gothic Roman architecture. The entrance to the church has ornate intricately designed wooden doors, windows bear curved arches and the chapel has a stone cross with Portuguese inscription. The inside of the church has an impressive brown and white combination. The exterior of the church remains guarded by two lofty square towers. The wall of the church remains adorned with a 200-year-old portrait of Mother Mary. The premises also have a well-maintained cemetery and a school.

Pazhassi Raja Museum And Art Gallery, Kozhikode

Formerly called the East Hill Bungalow the building was later made into an archeological museum. Named after Pazhassi Raja the famous "Lion of Kerela" it is a cherished treasure for historians and art lovers. Vellarimala forms a part of a high hill range of what is otherwise known as Camel's Hump Mountains, a part of the Western Ghats. Most of the hill range falls in the Meppadi Forest Range of South Wayanad Division, with some parts falling in the Thamarassery Range of Kozhikode Division. Vellari Mala is part of the popular Camel's Hump Mountains of the Western Ghats. The tallest peak in this range is called Vavul Mala and is situated an altitude of 2339 m. Vellari Mala is a trekker's paradise but it is also a great picnic spot for a relaxing experience with family and friends.

Thusharagiri Waterfall

Caressed in the folds of the Western Ghats is the picturesque Thusharagiri Waterfalls. Lying 50 km from Kozhikode, the Thusharagiri Waterfalls comprises Erattumukku, Mazhavil Chattom, and Thumbithullum Para which can be reached through trekking. Thusharagiri or 'mist-capped peaks' gets its name from the beautiful silvery crown formed at the mountain top due to the waterfalls. Mananchira Square

Fed by a natural shower, Mananchira is a man-made freshwater pond surrounding which is the astounded complex, Mananchira Square. The pond was built in around 14th century as a bathing pool by the feudal ruler of Kozhikode, Zamorin Mana Vikrama whereas the Mananchira Square was opened in 1994. Previously, the Square was known as Manachira Maidan and was famous for football. It was a host of many matches as well. Today, it is an architectural glimpse in the middle of the city with its open theater, fabulous landscaped lawns, and musical fountains. Located at the mouth of river Chaliyar about 10 kilometres away from Kozhikode town (Calicut) in Kerala, Beypore was a port of trade and maritime centre in the olden ages. This ancient port had witnessed much trade and transactions of the Arabian merchants from West Asia, Chinese travellers and later Europeans with the local dealers here. It is the 3rd largest city in Kerala and the headquarters of Kozhikode District. The name Kozhikode is said to be derived from Koyil (palace) Kotta (fort). This is known by various names, for the Arabs it was Kalikat, for the Chinese it was Kalifo. Tipu Sultan, during the conquest of Malabar, unsuccessfully attempted to change the name of the city to Firozabad. Malayalis have always preferred to call it Kozhikode. With the Arabian Sea on the west and Wayanad Hills on the east, Kozhikode is a popular places to visit in Kerala . According to history, Kozhikode was under the Chera rulers until 1122 AD. The city of Calicut came into existence in the 13th century when the Ernad King Udaiyavar conquered the area around Ponniankar and built a fort at a place called Velapuram, now known as Calicut. Kozhikode was once the capital of the powerful Zamorins and a prominent trade and commerce center. Kozhikode city continues to be a center of flourishing domestic and international trade.
