ARD schließt Vereinbarung mit der Amaury Sport Organisation

Die ARD wird auch in diesem Jahr umfangreich von der Tour de France berichten. SportA, die Sportrechteagentur von ARD und ZDF, konnte sich mit der Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) über eine entsprechende Vereinbarung verständigen.

Live-Berichterstattung vom größten Radrennen der Welt

Die ARD setzt damit erneut auf die Live-Berichterstattung vom größten Radrennen der Welt und sieht vom 1. bis 24. Juli 2022 eine tägliche Live-Übertragung im Ersten vor. Montag bis Freitag sind die Übertragungszeiten in der Regel von 16:05 Uhr bis 17:25 Uhr, an den Wochenenden etwas umfangreicher. Darüber hinaus sendet ONE die Tour de France 2022 täglich ab eine halbe Stunde nach Etappenbeginn live bis zum Beginn der Übertragungen im Ersten. Sportschau.de und die ARD Mediathek bieten in der gesamten Zeit alle Etappen komplett im Livestream an. Federführer innerhalb der ARD für die Tour de France bleibt der Saarländische Rundfunk.

Darüber hinaus hat die ARD umfassende Livestreaming- und Nachverwertungsrechte an der Tour de France der Frauen 2022 (24.-31. Juli 2022) erworben sowie gemeinsam mit dem ZDF Live-Übertragungsrechte für die Deutschland Tour. Bei dem Radrennen, das vom 24. bis 28. August 2022 auf verschiedenen Strecken in Deutschland stattfindet, berichtet die ARD live über die erste Etappe von Weimar nach Meinigen sowie über die dritte Etappe von Freiburg nach Schauinsland. Das ZDF sendet live vom zweiten Renntag (Meiningen – Marburg) und von der Schluss-Etappe von Schiltau nach Stuttgart.

The herculean GC battle Tour de France between leader Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) and second-placed Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) ended on stage 16 and 17 with the Dane first delivering a stunning blow in the time trial before a knockout punch on the Col de la Loze.

Vingegaard has a comfortable lead in the Tour de France GC standings of 7:29 on Pogačar, winner of stage 20 , and 10:56 on the Slovenian's teammate Adam Yates.

The penultimate stage delivered the final skirmish for riders fighting to move up in the top 10 of the general classification. Simon Yates  (Jayco-AlUla) moved up to fourth overall while Carlos Rodríguez (Ineos Grenadiers) lost one spot and is now in fifth place.  Meanwhile, Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek) sealed the KOM classification.

All eyes now turn to the sprinters whose biggest day of the year is the finish on the Champs Elysées in Paris.

Tour de France to air on German public television for first time in four years

German public broadcaster ARD will show live coverage of the Tour, but will cut the race again should more doping cases surface

German television channel ARD , is set to announce that it will show the Tour de France for the at least the next two years according to Der Spiegel , making it the first time cycling's biggest race will appear on German public TV since 2011.

The Tour was initially dropped from free-to-air broadcast due to dwindling ratings and a flurry of doping controversies involving top German riders, but now ARD is said to have acquired the rights to the race for less than five million euros.

The channel has however, reportedly tied a clause into its contract that allows for the broadcast to be cut should more doping cases arise.

German cycling has enjoyed rejuvinated success in recent times with a number of riders, including Tony Martin, John Degenkold, Marcel Kittel and André Greipel all recording top level results, as well as the first three of those riders all visibly supporting by signing the draft of a proposed law that would make doping a criminal offence in Germany .

Kittel, who begins his season at the Tour Down Under in January as he builds up to the Tour de France in July, told FAZ.net that cycling will always been as suspicious as long as people associated with doping continue to work in the sport.

"People like [Alexander Vinkourov and Bjarne Riis] contribute to the fact that to this day, cycling is permanently seen as suspicious," Kittel said.

Das bislang traurigste Kapitel der diesjährigen Tour schrieb dabei gestern Mark Cavendish, der nach einem Sturz mit einem Schlüsselbeinbruch aufgeben musste und damit keine Chance mehr hat, sich den alleinigen Rekord von 35 Etappensiegen zu sichern. Er bleibt gleichauf mit dem legendären Eddie Merckx bei 34 Siegen stehen, Cavendish beendet am Jahresende seine Karriere.

Heute wird es vor allem am Ende der Etappe eine Leidensprüfung für die Fahrer, der 13,3 Kilometer lange Schlussanstieg hinauf nach Puy de Dome wird den Fahrern alles abverlangen. Ins Zentrum der Aufmerksamkeit dürften wieder die Favoriten auf den Gesamtsieg um Vingegaard und Pogacar rücken. 25 Sekunden trennen den Dänen im Gelben Trikot von seinem slowenischen Verfolger und Herausforderer. Die beiden Free-TV-Sender Eurosport und ARD berichten umfangreich von allen Etappen der diesjährigen Tour de France. Während Fans bei Eurosport 1 keinen Kilometer verpassen und bereits vom Start weg dabei sind, steigt das Erste meist etwas später ein. So ist es auch heute.

Eurosport 1 beginnt pünktlich zum neutralen Start um 13.35 Uhr mit der Übertragung und ist bis zum Zieleinlauf dabei. Die ARD zeigt ab 10 Uhr bis in den frühen Abend hinein durchweg Sport, allerdings umfasst die Übertragung zu einem Großteil die "Finals" im Rhein-Ruhr-Gebiet. Die Tour de France ist im Laufe des Tages immer wieder Teil des Programms, zum ersten Mal ab 14.10 Uhr. Zwischendurch kann es allerdings immer wieder zu Unterbrechungen durch das andere Sportprogramm kommen.

Die ARD wird die 107. Auflage der Tour de France wie in den vergangenen Jahren umfassend begleiten. Täglich überträgt Das Erste live, an Wochentagen von ca. 16:05 bis 17:30 Uhr, an den Wochenenden – abhängig von den Etappen – etwas länger. Moderator der Live-Übertragungen im Ersten ist Michael Antwerpes, Florian Naß kommentiert. Unterstützt wird er dabei wie bereits im vergangenen Jahr von Ex-Radprofi Fabian Wegmann.

ONE zeigt alle Etappen an den Wochentagen live ab eine halbe Stunde nach dem Start bis zum Beginn der Übertragungen im Ersten. Ein umfassendes Angebot gibt es auch online auf sportschau.de, unter anderem ist die Tour de France hier täglich im Livestream zu sehen. Reporter für die Live-Übertragungen in ONE und auf sportschau.de ist Florian Kurz, an seiner Seite als Experte der ehemalige deutsche Radrennfahrer Paul Voß. Cycling-German broadcaster ARD to resume live Tour coverage

BERLIN, Jan 7 (Reuters) - German public broadcaster ARD will resume live coverage of cycling's biggest race the Tour de France in 2015 after four years, saying doping issues now seem a thing of the past and Germans were again successful. ARD had last broadcast the Tour live in 2011 before refusing to do so since then as more riders, retired and active, were either caught doping or admitted to using banned substances, damaging the reputation of the sport. Among them were several big-name German riders, including 1997 Tour winner Jan Ullrich and Stefan Schumacher, which reduced interest among German viewers and made it difficult for ARD to justify spending public funds on live coverage. The doping speculation and subsequent confession of disgraced former multiple Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong further highlighted the sport's drugs problem. "The latest German successes, especially at the Tour de France, and the new generation of German riders who repeatedly speak out in favour of a doping-free sport have led to a higher attractiveness of this event," said ARD programme director Volker Herres in a statement. Germans Marcel Kittel, Andre Greipel and Tony Martin have won 18 stages among them in the last four editions of the Tour. "Germany is a major country in the world of cycling," Tour Director Christian Prudhomme said in a statement. "Thanks to ARD's channels, I am delighted that the German public will be able to follow the Tour de France on German public TV, unencrypted, daily and live the race for the next two years". This year's Tour runs from July 4-26 and includes stages in Belgium and the Netherlands. (Reporting by Karolos Grohmann; editing by Ken Ferris)

How to watch the Tour de France live stream 2024

T he wait is nearly over for the biggest bike race of the year, the Tour de France 2024 . Like us, you'll probably be wanting to tune in and watch, so we've put together a comprehensive guide to exactly how you can watch everything from live coverage to highlights of this iconic Grand Tour.

It should be an exciting battle for overall victory, with four potential winners all vying for the maillot jaune. Reigning champion Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease A Bike), Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates), Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-Quick Step) and Primož Roglič (Bora-Hansgrohe) are the men most likely, although newly-anointed Giro d'Italia champion Pogačar is the only rider to have come through the early season unscathed. The other three have missed training time after tangling with each other in the same crash in Itzulia Basque Country in April.

Vingegaard was the worst affected , and in early June there was still a question mark over whether he would definitely be at the Tour de France.

There are plenty of sprinting opportunities scattered throughout the race. Last year's green jersey Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) will be the man to beat, pushed hard others including Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) and Fabio Jakobsen (dsm-firmenich-PostNL). Many eyes will also be on Mark Cavendish (Astana Qazaqstan), who returns for his last Tour de France in the hope of finally beating the all-time 35-stage-win record that he is currently tied on with Eddy Merckx.

The final stage sees the race make way for the Paris Olympic Games and finish outside the capital for the first time in history, with a time trial from Monaco to Nice.

When is the Tour de France? 

The Tour de France will begin in Florence on June 29, and finish three weeks later on July 21 in Nice. Individual stages will be broadcast in full on Discovery+ .

Spitzenkandidaten des BSW Zwei Einzelkämpfer für das BSW

Fabio De Masi und Thomas Geisel sind die Spitzenkandidaten des Bündnisses Sahra Wagenknecht für die Europawahl. Zwei Männer, die schon eine politische Karriere hatten - allerdings in unterschiedlichen Parteien.

Es wäre nicht neu für Fabio De Masi, wenn er Abgeordneter im Europaparlament werden würde, denn das war er von 2014 bis 2017 schon einmal. Aber: Damals war er es für eine andere Partei. Vor zehn Jahren zog er für die Linke nach Brüssel, nun versucht er es für seine neue Partei, das Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW).

Brüssel passt zu De Masi, dem Kosmopoliten, der neben Deutsch, auch fließend Englisch, Französisch und Italienisch spricht, einem, der immer unter Dampf zu stehen scheint. Er kommt aus einer deutsch-italienischen Familie, hat in Hamburg, Berlin und Kapstadt studiert. Wirtschaft war immer schon sein Thema, insbesondere der Kampf gegen die Finanzkriminalität.

Kaum einer kenne sich so gut im Cum-Ex-Skandal aus wie De Masi, hieß es - dem komplizierten und kaum zu durchschauenden Betrug mit der Rückerstattung von nie gezahlten Steuern. Das trug ihm in seiner Zeit als Bundestagsabgeordneter in den Jahren zwischen 2017 und 2021 auch den Respekt von Abgeordneten anderer Parteien ein.

Mit dem markigen Prädikat "Cum-Ex-Jäger" wirbt das BSW für ihren Spitzenkandidaten De Masi.

Ein harter Schnitt

Die wohl wichtigste Zäsur in De Masis bisheriger politischer Karriere war der Austritt aus der Linken. Er, der schon lange ein enger Mitarbeiter von Sahra Wagenknecht war, der ehemaligen Vize-Chefin der Linken und jetzigen Co-Vorsitzenden des BSW, zog im September 2022 einen harten Schnitt.

Heute sagt er, dass er schon 2019 zu der Einsicht gelangt sei, dass es mit der Linken nichts mehr werden würde und er nur noch seine Projekte zu Ende bringen wollte. "Aber die beste Arbeit bringt nichts, wenn die Mannschaft aufs eigene Tor spielt. Mit dem Kurs der Migrationspolitik, der die Überforderung der Kommunen vollständig ignorierte, wirkte die Linke zunehmend weltfremd."

Der Begriff "Spitzenkandidat" kann verwirrend sein, denn er bedeutet im Kontext der Europawahlen zweierlei:  Einerseits steht er für die Listenersten der deutschen Parteien, die bei der Europawahl antreten. Entsprechend dieser Listen werden die Spitzenkandidaten bei ausreichender Stimmzahl als erste für ihre Partei ins EU-Parlament gewählt. Andererseits steht der mittlerweile europaweit verwendete Begriff für jene Person, die von den europäischen Parteizusammenschlüssen im Europaparlament als Kandidat oder Kandidatin für den Chefposten der "EU-Regierung", den Präsidentenposten der Kommission, nominiert wurde. Manche Europapolitikerinnen sind beides: Spitzenkandidatin ihrer deutschen Partei und für die Kommissionspräsidentschaft.

Die Ziele für Brüssel

Die Gründung des BSW war ein politischer Glücksfall für ihn. Seine unbedingte Loyalität zu Wagenknecht und seine Erfahrung in Brüssel haben ihn auf Listenplatz 1 für die Europawahl gebracht. Es gilt angesichts der bisherigen Umfrageergebnisse als sicher, dass De Masi demnächst zurück ins Europaparlament kehren wird.

Was er dort bewegen will? "Das Steuerdumping der Tech-Konzerne zu Lasten des Mittelstandes muss beendet werden, etwa durch Straf- beziehungsweise Quellensteuern", sagt er. In der Außenpolitik kritisiert er zu wenig diplomatische Initiativen zum "Einfrieren des Ukraine-Krieges" und fordert eine neutrale Ukraine und Abrüstungsinitiativen.

Es wird nicht einfach werden, dafür in Brüssel politische Partner zu finden. Nach eigener Aussage ist er bereits damit befasst, eine Fraktion im EU-Parlament aufzubauen. Aber wer das sein könnte, darüber schweigt er.

Überraschungserfolg in Düsseldorf

Aus einer völlig anderen Richtung als De Masi kommt Thomas Geisel. Mit der Europawahl ist es auf den Tag genau zehn Jahre her, dass er überregionale politische Aufmerksamkeit bekam: Im Juni 2014 gewann er überraschend die Stichwahl gegen Amtsinhaber Dirk Elber (CDU) und war plötzlich Oberbürgermeister Düsseldorfs.

Die Landeshauptstadt wurde fortan von einem sozialdemokratischen Ex-Manager aus der Energiewirtschaft geführt. Dabei stand Geisel für alles, was der katholisch-rheinischen Gemütlichkeit suspekt sein dürfte.

Sein schwäbischer Akzent lässt unüberhörbar auf seine Herkunft schließen. Der passionierte Marathon-Läufer war Presbyter seiner evangelischen Kirche im Düsseldorfer Stadtteil Pempelfort, und er bezeichnete einst Max Webers "Protestantische Ethik" als eines seiner Lieblingswerke.

Auf den Wahlplakaten mit Thomas Geisel rückt das BSW Inhalte wie Frieden oder Wohlstand nach vorne.

Ein hoher Anspruch und die Folgen

Und dennoch wählten ihn die Düsseldorfer und Düsseldorferinnen ins Rathaus. Geisel eckte vom Start aus an. Mit seinem hohen Arbeitsanspruch vergraulte er viele Menschen aus seinem engsten Umfeld. Der heute 60-Jährige ruhte selten, kam wöchentlich mit neuen Ideen um die Ecke und verlor damit noch weitere Unterstützer, auch in seiner Partei.

Fragt man nach Geisel in der Landes-SPD, dann wird seiner politischen Arbeit viel Respekt entgegengebracht. Er habe viel für die Stadtteile geleistet, bezahlbares Wohnen in einer sehr teuren Stadt zumindest zeitweise nach vorne gebracht - das hört man nicht selten. Es kommt jedoch sofort das "Aber", wenn es um die Person geht. Er hat in der SPD das Image des ehrgeizigen, rastlosen Besserwissers.

Streitbare Ampel - am Rhein

Die Liste derjenigen in der NRW-SPD, mit denen sich Geisel in seiner Zeit anlegte, ist lang. Zeitweise schielte er auf die Nachfolge der damaligen Ministerpräsidentin Hannelore Kraft. Sogar mit Norbert Walter-Borjans, dem einstigen Finanzminister des Landes und SPD-Chef, stritt sich Geisel darum, wie seine Stadt mit Gewinnen der örtlichen Sparkasse umgehen solle.

2017 holte Geisel den Start der Tour der France nach Düsseldorf. Bis heute rechnen ihm das viele Menschen der Stadt an. Dass die Finanzierung allerdings wackelig war, wird dabei gerne vergessen. Beinahe zerlegte sich deshalb das regierende Ampel-Bündnis im Rat der Stadt.

Eine schwer verdauliche Niederlage

Bei der Kommunalwahl 2020 verlor Geisel in der Stichwahl gegen seine Herausforderer von der CDU. Das zu verkraften, fiel Geisel schwer. Er mischte sich weiter per Wortmeldung in den städtischen Diskurs ein, liebäugelte angeblich mit einem Comeback-Versuch, stieß damit in seiner Partei aber auf wenig Rückhalt. Spätestens nach unglücklichen Äußerungen zum Krieg gegen die Ukraine stand er in der SPD nur noch am Spielfeldrand.

Als ihm das klar wurde, wechselte Geisel zum BSW - kurz nachdem er zu seinem 40-jährigen Parteijubiläum erklärt hatte, er wolle für immer Sozialdemokrat bleiben.

Damit ist Geisel zurück auf der Bühne der Politik, dieses Mal sogar auf der großen EU-Bühne. Es dürfte ihm gefallen, in diesem Rampenlicht zu stehen. Oder wie die frühere Stadträtin und heutige FDP-Spitzenkandidatin Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann über ihn mal sagte: "Er war halt kein Kommunalpolitiker!"
