Jennifer Lopez rebrands 2024 tour as greatest hits concert after canceling dates

The singer nixed several accompanying show dates due to a logistical error, EW previously learned.

tour is me

Weeks after canceling several tour dates due to a logistical error, Jennifer Lopez has rebranded her upcoming 2024 This Is Me... Now tour as a career-spanning celebration titled This Is Me... Live: The Greatest Hits.

"Come dance the night away at This Is Me…LIVE this Summer," Lopez wrote on Instagram alongside a video montage highlighting her past singles and notable film appearances, from "Love Don't Cost a Thing" to Selena .

“Who knew that this girl right here, singing for my family, performing around my city and following my passion, would take me places I could never have imagined,” Lopez says in the clip, also calling the performances "a celebration for all of us" on the road. “No matter what, I’m just the girl I’ve always been, with the love that drives me to share my story on stage like I always have.”

Some reports initially suggested that the tour's promotion shifted to include more of Lopez's discography due to low ticket sales, but Entertainment Weekly has learned that the singer made no changes to the planned setlist or the content of the show itself, and that the tour was always intended to be a celebration of Lopez's career rather than just highlight her recent This Is Me... Now album and its accompanying movie, This Is Me...Now: A Love Story .

EW has reached out to representatives for Lopez for comment.

Daniele Venturelli/Getty

In March, Lopez canceled tour dates spanning Aug. 22-30, including stops in Nashville, Atlanta, Tampa, New Orleans, and Raleigh, N.C.

Like its predecessor — her 2002 album,  This Is Me... Then — the sequel This Is Me... Now chronicles Lopez's love life, in particular her marriage to actor  Ben Affleck following their previous separation.

Though the accompanying Amazon Original streaming movie made headlines and was one of the platform's most-watched titles the week of its release, This Is Me... Now  the album spent only one week on the  Billboard  200 albums chart, at No. 38, despite reaching No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart.

“I wanted to make a record in a way I hadn’t done for a long time. When it was done, I realized it wasn’t the whole story, so I got with (director) Dave Meyers and said, ‘I don’t want to do the normal video with this, this is something very special,’” Lopez explained to USA TODAY.

“I never thought I’d get a second chance at this love. I’d like to capture this moment in time because I feel it’s even more incredible than the first time. What I want to say with this album is that true love does exist and some things are forever. They may not take a straight road, but they don’t leave you. I made the most honest, true music I’ve ever done … So I sat with Dave and said, ‘I want to do a mini-movie-musical, but also not just videos. I want to do something new and different.’”

After canceling seven dates of her first North American tour in five years amid weak ticket sales, Jennifer Lopez has renamed it to apparently broaden its scope, changing it from “This Is Me… Now” to “This Is Me… Live | The Greatest Hits.”

Upon release in February, “This Is Me… Now” struggled to find an audience, selling 14,000 copies in its first week. While the album did debut atop the Billboard Top Album Sales Chart due to 11,000 in physical sales, it arrived at No. 38 on the Billboard 200, becoming the second of her nine studio albums to bow outside the top 10.

The album was one part of a self-financed $20 million multimedia project including the tour and the two films, “This Is Me…Now: A Love Story,” and a documentary, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told.” Variety described the endeavor as an examination of “Lopez’s life as a serial romantic” following her romantic rekindling with actor Ben Affleck, who she married in 2022 after nearly two decades apart.

Jennifer Lopez cancels 2024 tour This Is Me: 'Completely heartsick and devastated'

Portrait of KiMi Robinson

Jennifer Lopez has canceled her summer North American tour , which was to be her first in five years, weeks before she was scheduled to go on the road.

The pop star made the announcement Friday in her On The JLo fan newsletter.

"Representatives for Live Nation announced today that the Jennifer Lopez US Summer 2024 Tour 'THIS IS ME...LIVE' is canceled, citing ... 'Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends,'" the newsletter reads.

The statement was followed by a personal note , "A Special Message to My JLovers OnTheJLo."

"I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again," Lopez wrote. "I love you all so much. Until next time..."

USA TODAY has reached out to Live Nation for comment.

Lopez's first show of the tour had been slated for June 26 in Orlando, Florida.

This Is Me... Live announcement comes after seven tour dates were canceled

The announcement comes weeks after several shows on the tour were canceled without explanation. According to Ticketmaster, Lopez's scheduled performances in Nashville, Tennessee; New Orleans; Raleigh, North Carolina; Atlanta; Houston; Cleveland and Tampa, Florida would no longer take place.

"Unfortunately, the event organizer has had to cancel your event," the message for those pages reads.

This is Me...Live was a 30-date arena tour that was going to feature Lopez's chart-breakers and classic hits from her discography, like songs "On The Floor," "Let's Get Loud" and "Jenny from the Block." Her most recent tour in 2019, the It's My Party tour, sold out venues across the country.

The tour was in support of her new album, “This is Me … Now,” which released in February. The record was accompanied by an Amazon Prime musical movie, “ This is Me … Now: A Love Story ."

Speaking to USA TODAY earlier this year about "This is Me ... Now" possibly being her swan song, Lopez said, "This was going to be the quintessential thing I have been searching for and wanted to say about love."

"I’ve been on this search for so long, since people first met me and my first record came out and even before that in my first movie role, where I’ve been on this journey trying to figure this thing out for myself. This (album) kind of closed the loop in a way,” she said. “It captures this moment to really say the things I want to say about love, and that is that true love does exist and some things are forever. Please don’t give up on that because that’s all that matters in life … love.”'

Bennifer timeline: Their love story spans two decades, two engagements

Separate outings have fueled speculation about marriage with Ben Affleck

Lopez's announcement also comes amid widespread speculation about her marriage of nearly two years to Ben Affleck.

After various media reports suggested Lopez and Affleck may no longer be living together, the Hollywood A-List couple has been increasingly under the microscope, with media prying over their whereabouts and whether both are still wearing their rings.

On May 16, Lopez and Affleck were photographed together for the first time in over a month, with each spotted wearing their respective wedding rings.

The two were engaged to each other twice: first in 2002 then again in 2021. The couple got married in a late-night ceremony in Las Vegas on July 16, 2022, which Lopez called "the best possible wedding we could have imagined."

This is the second marriage for Affleck and the fourth for Lopez.

In recent weeks, Lopez has been focused on promoting her new movie, Atlas , with Simu Liu, which premiered on Netflix last week. But rumors have also been swirling in the tabloids that her marriage to Ben Affleck is “not in the best place.” During an Atlas promotional stop in Mexico City, a reporter tried to ask Lopez about the situation, to which Liu said, “Ok, we’re not doing that,” and Lopez added, “You know better than that.”

Lopez’s relationship with Affleck was very wrapped up in This Is Me… Now , as well as its predecessor, 2002’s This Is Me… Then , which she made when the couple was dating for the first time. This Is Me… Now was accompanied by a self-funded movie musical inspired by the rekindling of her romance with Affleck and their marriage in 2022. Affleck also appeared in The Greatest Love Story Never Told , a documentary about the making of the new album and movie.

Tickets purchased through Ticketmaster will automatically be refunded. For those purchased via a third-party resale site, Live Nation directed fans to reach out to the point purchase for further details.

The tour was initially in support of her ninth studio album This Is Me… Now , but the singer quietly re-branded the tour, her first North American arena tour in five years, to celebrate her songbook instead, renaming it the This Is Me… Live: The Greatest Hits Tour .

Did Jennifer Lopez Rebrands Her ‘This Is Me … Now’ Tour Due to Low Ticket Sales?

Jennifer Lopez Rebrands Upcoming Tour Following Low Ticket Sales

Jennifer Lopez is hitting the road no matter what the title of her tour is called.

When Lopez dropped her latest album, This Is Me … Now , the singer, 54, announced a tour of the same name. According to Variety , Lopez tweaked the name of the tour to “This Is Me… Live | The Greatest Hits” because of possible poor ticket sales.

The tour’s title change has not been reflected on its official website . However, the website does feature a timeline of her biggest career moments, spanning from her 1991 TV debut on In Living Color to the February 2024 premiere of her This Is Me … Now: A Love Story film, hinting that the point of the tour was always to be about her greatest hits.

Lopez teased that her upcoming shows will feature tracks from throughout her entire discography via Instagram on Wednesday, April 3. “Look at this girl, fly [and] little bright-eyed Puerto Rican girl dancing her heart out. If she only knew then she’d be going on the most unforgettable tour of a lifetime,” the Grammy nominee said via voiceover in a montage of her performances from over the years.

She continued: “Who knew that this girl right here, singing for my family, performing around my city and following my passion would take me places I could never have imagined. But nothing really prepares you for what it means to travel down that road. … But no matter what, I’m just the girl I’ve always been with the love that drives me to share my story on stage like I always have. I am a woman, I am Jenny from the block and this is me, now.”

In the clip, Lopez called creating her upcoming tour “my greatest joy,” adding, “I love seeing your faces in the audience and I love connecting with my fans. Come move, come sing and come feel the energy live with me, because this tour is a celebration for all of us. I can’t wait to see you at the show. This Is Me … Now the Tour .”

Jennifer Lopez Rebrands Upcoming Tour Following Low Ticket Sales

The tour’s rebrand comes three weeks after Lopez mysteriously canceled five shows in Nashville, Raleigh, Atlanta, Tampa and New Orleans originally scheduled for August 22-30. Neither Lopez nor Live Nation, the entertainment company producing the tour, addressed the switch-up at the time, though Us Weekly reached out to both for comment.

Lopez will kick off the U.S. leg of the This Is Me … Live tour in Orlando on June 26. She is set to perform in over 20 cities across the country and Canada before capping off the schedule with back-back-back shows in her hometown, New York City.

A timeline of Jennifer Lopez's 'This Is Me … Now' tour: Rumors of marital tension, low ticket sales reported before cancellation

Jennifer Lopez canceled her “This Is Me … Now” tour less than a month before it was scheduled to begin.

The singer wrote in her newsletter that it was “absolutely necessary” for her to call off the shows. Concert promoter Live Nation said Lopez needs time off to be with her “children, family and close friends.”

The tour was in support of her 2024 This Is Me … Now album — her first in a decade — and the self-funded movie that accompanied it. Some of her new songs addressed her rekindled relationship with her husband Ben Affleck 20 years after they called off their first engagement.

Since the album came out, there have been reports that the tour was struggling to sell tickets and reports that Lopez and Affleck were living apart amid marital strife. It’s unclear whether Lopez’s tour cancellation has anything to do with her marriage, but there’s no denying that the project itself is inextricably linked to their romance. Affleck said he’s not always comfortable being portrayed as her muse.

We’ll look back on their relationship, Lopez’s latest release and how her tour ultimately fell apart.

2002-2004: Bennifer 1.0

The Gigli costars began dating in 2002 and got engaged the same year. They postponed their engagement three days before the wedding in September 2003 and officially split in early 2004.

They’ve both spoken about how their relationship was deeply impacted by their presence on the covers of tabloids. Even 20 years later, it seemingly still is.

2021: Bennifer 2.0 begins

Lopez confirmed that she had rekindled her relationship with Affleck in July 2021, and they got married in Las Vegas in July 2022.

“The catalyst for [our first breakup] was this massive scrutiny for our private life,” Affleck explained in the documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told. “I had a very firm sense of boundaries initially around the press. While Jen I don’t think objected to it in the way I did, I very much did object to it. Getting back together, I said, ‘Listen, one of the things I don’t want is a relationship on social media.’ Then I sort of realized it’s not a fair thing to ask.”

Feb. 15, 2024: Lopez announces ‘This is Me… Now: The Tour’

While promoting her This is Me… Now album and film, Lopez announced on Today that she’d be going on tour the following summer.

Jennifer Lopez announces on TODAY Show that she is going on tour this summer. pic.twitter.com/OYSE0oVisD — Bennifer Updates (@BenniferUpdates) February 15, 2024

“We’re hitting all the cities all across the United States,” Lopez said. Orlando was set to be her first stop.

Feb. 16, 2024: Lopez releases This is Me… Now

Two decades after her album titled This Is Me … Then , Lopez decided to “tell the truth” about her past relationships. A movie titled This is Me … Now: A Love Story accompanied the album, and she spent $20 million of her own money to bring it to life.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Prime Video (@primevideo)

“It’s meta,” she told Yahoo Entertainment ahead of the project’s release. “It’s not autobiographical, but it’s definitely inspired by events of my life and of other people’s kind of journeys that I’ve watched. But it’s definitely the story of a hopeless romantic’s journey through life and their search for love. That really kind of sums it up in a way, and there's definitely things from my life that are infused and inspired in the story.”

Some of the songs are about Affleck, such as “Dear Ben, Part II,” but she also revisited failed relationships and past abuse .

The film is “certified fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 75% , but it received scathing reviews from Vanity Fair and IndieWire.

Feb. 27, 2024: The Greatest Love Story Never Told documentary comes out

Less than two weeks after her self-produced album and film came a documentary about their production: The Greatest Love Story Never Told. The documentary got its name from a book that Affleck made for Lopez containing “every letter and every email” they wrote to each other between 2001 and 2021 “and counting.”

“I did really find the beauty and the poetry and the irony in the fact that it’s the greatest love story never told ,” Affleck told the cameras. “And if you’re making a record about it, that seems kind of like telling it.”

Though Affleck has said he doesn’t want to stop Lopez from creating the art she wants to, Lopez said that “doesn’t mean he’s kind of comfortable being the muse.” He was surprised to hear that Lopez let songwriters read the personal letters between them as inspiration for her new album.

“Jen was really inspired by this experience, which is how artists do their work,” Affleck shared. “As a writer-director I certainly do the same things. But things that are private I had always felt are sacred and special because, in part, they’re private. So this was something of an adjustment for me."

Lopez’s Monster-in-Law co-star Jane Fonda questioned if the singer was “trying to prove something” by making the vanity project about her relationship with Affleck instead of just living their lives.

March to April 2024: Lopez cancels tour dates and rebrands tour as ‘This Is Me ... Live: The Greatest Hits’

The singer removed tour stops in Nashville, Atlanta, New Orleans and several other cities between Aug. 22 and Aug. 30.

Some reports suggested that the tour stops were removed due to low ticket sales, but Lopez’s team stated it was a “logistical error,” according to People.

Around the same time, the tour as rebranded from “This is Me … Now: The Tour” to “This Is Me ... Live: The Greatest Hits.” There were no changes made to the set list, and the tour was always intended to be a celebration of her career rather than her last album, Entertainment Weekly reported.

May 2024: Lopez and Affleck face rumors of a split

Rumors of marital strife began to swirl in early May, when Affleck attended Tom Brady’s May 5 Netflix roast alone. The next day, Lopez arrived at the Met Gala by herself.

On May 15, the tabloid In Touch reported that the couple was “headed for a divorce” and living apart. The next day, People magazine confirmed that 47 days had passed since they had been photographed together. Hours later, they attended a school event for one of Affleck’s children together — both wearing wedding rings. Us Weekly reported that they are “having issues” within their marriage but have not yet split.

People reported on May 22 that their marriage is “not in the best place” and they’re still living apart, citing differing personalities and what they share about their lives together as a major issue. The same day, Lopez shut down a question about her relationship at a press conference for her new movie, Atlas.

A source close to Lopez told People on May 28 that they’re still living separately. “She’s back in L.A. for tour rehearsals. She seems OK. She’s very focused on work,” they said.

May 31, 2024: Lopez’s tour officially gets canceled

Lopez shared news from concert promoter Live Nation on May 31 that her summer tour, set to begin in Orlando on June 26, “is canceled.” In her newsletter, she said she was “completely heartsick and devastated.”

“Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends,” the announcement stated. There was no mention of Affleck or their relationship.

As former President Trump struggles with messaging on the issue of abortion, Vice President Harris’ campaign is making a major push focused on the issue.

“My doctor told me despite preparing for this moment for months, we couldn’t proceed,” Beasley told a few dozen people who gathered at a park in Macon for the event organized by the Harris campaign.

Beasley and her husband were trying for their second child when fertility clinics across Alabama stopped offering the procedure. State lawmakers passed an emergency fix , but not before patients like Beasley lost time and money waiting.

“Donald Trump is responsible for what happened in Alabama and what happened to me,” Beasley said.

And, Beasley added, Georgia voters are no strangers to the impact of the Supreme Court decision that overturned decades of abortion rights precedent just over two years ago. Most abortions are currently illegal in Georgia after about six weeks of pregnancy.

Georgia Rep. Nikema Williams — who also chairs the state Democratic Party — says voters she talks to worry another Trump administration will mean more restrictions.

“They are very concerned about what a Trump administration means for what is left of their reproductive freedom,” she said in an interview with NPR aboard the bus between Macon and Atlanta on Friday. “What I’m hearing is that voters are very motivated by this issue.”

Throughout the campaign, Trump has offered mixed messages on reproductive rights. In a recent interview with NBC, he said Florida’s abortion ban — which, like Georgia’s, prohibits abortion after about six weeks — was too restrictive. He also seemed open to voting for a reproductive rights initiative.

After pushback from anti-abortion groups, Trump later said he’d vote against it.

Pollster Tresa Undem says abortion is a top voting issue for key Democratic constituencies, and Trump knows that.

“The polling’s no secret,” Undem says. “For independent women … pro-choice suburban women, he’s got to peel off some to win.

“There’s a huge gender gap right now. If he doesn’t close that, he loses.”

In a statement, Trump campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt reiterated his position that abortion policy should be left to the states. Leavitt said Trump, “strongly supports ensuring women have access to the care they need,” including IVF and contraception.

In the meantime, Democrats are trying to remind voters of what Trump has already said and done, and linking him to policy proposals like the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 , which calls for more restrictions on reproductive healthcare.

On Friday, at another stop along the tour at a barbecue restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff reminded voters that the state has one of the nation’s worst maternal mortality rates, and a shortage of healthcare providers.

Ossoff, who recently led a Senate hearing on Georgia’s abortion ban, told NPR he’s hearing from doctors in the state about patients who’ve been denied abortions while facing medical complications.

“This is personal for Georgia women and it’s impacting the health of Georgia women,” he says.

Sitting with friends at the Atlanta event, Ursula Anderson says they’re all working to help elect Harris.

“We need to remind them, irregardless of what rhetoric Trump is putting out there, there are American women that need support,” Anderson says. “And if they have forgotten because it’s been two years, we need to remind them.”
