Any visit   to the Antillean islands is a sensual experience and what better way than to capture the Caribbean spirit (pun intended) with a bottle of local rum?

That's why Topper's Rhum is the ideal souvenir to take home from your visit to Sint Maarten: produced right here on island, this award winning rum comes in many exciting flavors and can be enjoyed in mixed drinks or straight up.

The Topper's Rhum distillery offers now guided tours of their facility - and the tour includes unlimited rum tasting! Tour-guide Dave is explaining many fascinating details about the challenges of producing a world-class product on a tiny island such as St. Maarten. The 90 minute presentation goes through the complete production and bottling process. A visit to the small test lab lets visitors taste some of the experimental blends, which have not found their way to the market yet.

The highlight comes at the end of the tour: Dave opens the official 'Rhum Tasting' session by offering samples of all flavored Rhums produced. The price of the tour for only $24 pp can't be beat, especially considering that the tasting is an 'all you can drink' affair.

This is a great tour for visitors who like to experience something off the beaten path. The operation is located in one of the island's commercial districts, a circumstance which also allows a glimpse into the working life of the locals.

These rhums are based on concoctions that we have been perfecting since 1994. St. Maarten Rum Tour, Maho Beach and Lunch

Rum and sun, what could be better? During this 6-hour St. Maarten tour you will have a rare opportunity to visit the back scenes of a popular, 6,000 square foot rum factory, dine on delicious food and hang out on one of St. Maarten's most popular beaches.

Your St. Maarten excursion starts as you leave the pier for a scenic drive to Topper's Rhum distillery, a family-owned and operated distillery that grew out of a complimentary after-dinner drink the Topper's Rhum distillery restaurant patrons fell in love with. Your guide will lead you through a hands-on tour where you will learn about the history of rum making in the Caribbean and observe the fermentation, distilling, filtering, blending and bottling process. Head to the lab to learn about the quality control measures and taste one of the more than 50 flavored rums in development. Over at the tasting bar you can sample rum-infused cake and artisanal products. While here, pop into the boutique shop for unique St. Maarten gifts and pick up a bottle or two of limited edition flavors that are only available on site.

From there you will head across to Topper's Restaurant on Kimsha Beach where you will be greeted with a welcome drink and then enjoy an appetizing lunch of traditional Caribbean BBQ. Dine on chicken, rice and peas, fried plantains and West Indian sauteed vegetables as you sip on rum or a fruit punch.

After lunch, make your way to Maho Beach where you can take a refreshing swim or relax on the warm sand and work on your vacation-envy tan. This beach lies directly under the flight path of a neighboring airport, making it a popular destination for aviation fans and those who want to feel the vibration of jumbo jets as they literally soar right above you for a landing.

Your tour concludes with a leisurely ride back to port. Skip the typical city tours and experience St. Maarten like a local.
